war, war never chages
Great Submission!
Fitted very well with the theme. Loved the overall backstory. The art style for the game was charming. The sound design was simple yet very satisfying! Some improvements could be done balancing the different summons.
Amazing work!
> Some improvements could be done balancing the different summons.
Quite agreed! We ran into a bit of a time crunch at the end and lost some of the balancing work, which made things tougher. Which ones did you feel were too weak / too strong?
Really neat game! I really liked the way you "learn" summons, by copying your opponent or by experimentation; playing as the younger twin it kind of gave me the vibe of being a little brother copying my big brother. Also I'm repping team pepperoni
Great entry, it reminds me good old flash game Age of War with really nice twist in spawning the units. Also enjoyed the sibling fight story (team pineapple).
What I found quite difficult was remembering all the spells in a later stage of the game, some type of "spell book" with spells that you already cast would be nice improvement.
Really cool vibe slowly learning new spells as you see your opponent cast them.
Could maybe have done with some variation on the casting sound effect, it was starting to get to my roommate
Found tomato by accident and bird by a hint:) Its all I needed to win it all. Well later I saw pumpkin too, but broccoli, tomato and bird got me through all the levels.
Charming game! One thing, though, we able to spam summons much faster than our enemy can. Probably some kind of cooldown or higher mana cost could do the trick to make people use tactics other than rush ones... I am pretty sure that with couple of tomatos to deter birds - i can just spam broccoli to win. Maybe even ignore enemy birds even and spam them.
your implementation of this mechanics was very good I really liked it and I completed the whole game as a whole and the graphics and technical components of the game are very good, give spam broccoli!!!!!
The Good: - fun art design, love the little veggies. - The control mechanic of drawing symbols was fun and unique
The Not So Good: - I was a little confused on how I was supposed to learn new spells. You have a hint about finding them in the world but the only one I ever learned in the environment was the crows.
Design Notes:
learning the runes in the environment is a neat idea, and I wish it was used more. Most of the time I learned new spells from just copying my opponent, which required me to pay really close attention to them instead of to the battlefield. I'm guessing you had plans for additional environmental hits, but if there were any, I completely missed them.
TL;DR
Fun little war game with a cool control twist, could have used some balancing, and maybe more clear instructions.
Needing to learn and remember the spells is a great gameplay mechanic! Once you figure out a certain "strategy" the game is pretty much won. Was really fun playing!
This game was extremely fun! I think it is a bit too easy, I can just spam broccoli and win the entire game. I think there is a bug where the opponent's enemies sometimes become invisible. Overall, I really enjoyed it!
Played a lot of this base protection, spawn games in my life (dont know the word for games like this), but I really love your Idea of summon the things that spawn. A lot more monster to spawn would relly improve the game further! Funny Story, but the connection to the game play is a little bit of a jump. Great Job!
Fun polished game! I liked the little (relatable) story surrounding it. The patterns showing up in the environment is a very clever idea.
Like others said, I figured out pretty quickly that it is very easy to clear by just drawing the broccoli many times to overwhelm the opponent.
Anyway, awesome job! 🥦
Nice game! I loved the diversity of summons, although its a bit too easy to win by just spamming broccoli 🥦. You should try our game, **we have a very similar concept**

Interesting idea. I got a problem with learning new spells, so I just copycat what enemy did  and realized that it is essential to create a lot of brocolli guys at the start and win is almost certain. But jam game doesn't need to be perfect. I really enjoyed it! :) Btw the graphics is fantastic, with the ability to zoom in and out. It would be great to implement some adventure game with this graphics.
When I was working on [Ghost Croquet](https://ghost-croquet.com/), I initially had an idea that each enemy you can posses uses each own control pattern. While it looked fun on paper, we quickly realized that the fun comes not from learning the patterns, but from mastering the mechanics of each monster, so we scrapped it. I think the same can be applied to your idea, even though I appreciate the novelty and the experimentation. Maybe the drawing is used to only inlock a unit, and/or you have to do against the timer, with patterns being more complex? Overall, I think the game has potential, looking forward to what you can do with it!
Awesome game! I only saw the environment clue with the birds, were there any other clues?
Ended up winning through a combination of spamming birds until capped and then broccoli until out of mana - seemed to do the trick on all levels. Looks like pumpkin, tomato, and lettuce were all options, but I didn't experiment with them much seeing as you could win without them. As others have noted - a bit more time spent play testing to tweak the balance and add more discoverability would have really levelled this up. Otherwise it was very charming. Well done all.
