I loved this game. Great artwork and neat idea. I wish you could hold down the mouse button to fire though, so much clicking! (Also some music would have helped)

I loved this game. Great artwork and neat idea. I wish you could hold down the mouse button to fire though, so much clicking! (Also some music would have helped)
Neat little take on a classic game type. The tricky part was that they spawn from the edges, so making use of them is a gamble. Wish it had a bit more depth, but can't be too picky with 48 hours! Made it to Day 19. Nice job getting it over the finish line.
It could have used a little more for mood but the graphics were well done and it was fun to play!
I died on day 11. :'(
I loved this game. Simple (although as I've said on other reviews, not a down side). The first day or two allows you to get used to the controls before you start getting bombarded which is great. The difficulty is smooth. I love the graphics, all of them (even though there aren't a ton, it works). And hilariously just before the character starts getting bored and say something about it (no spoilers?) I audibly said 'okay here we go...' as a giant wave showed up. Excellently done!
Nice job! I liked the atmosphere and it was definitely satisfying to kill the aliens. I would maybe expand on this by adding a health system, so its not a one-hit kill. The one-hit kill does make it more challenging but because the first couple days are a little slow it makes getting back into the game take a little while.
Overall nice job though!
- would have been better if it was hold to shoot, the 1 click - 1 shot meant your ROF was dependent on how fast you clicked (and meant you needed to smash on the mouse button) - the "loop" felt a bit forced just to make the theme work - the foul language didn't add anything to the gameplay and detracted from the over all experience.
The art for the game is brilliant! Would love to hear some music, but really great job overall :)
fantastic artwork! more enemy types would have been cool, as well as music, but still pretty great as is.
I really love the art and little quips the character makes. Gameplay is great, and reminds me of Crimsonland. Music would definitely help the atmosphere, but this is excellent work!
Really great game! Art is the best I have seen in this LD. Would be well served with some more player feedback for the primary loop, more bass to sound FX, camera shake, kickback from shooting etc. Very impressive!
Good humour and nice graphics, Not sure if it was just me but I couldnt get WASD to work and was stuck on the spot for the entire game.
Nice sfx, nice feedback. Maybe speed of character may be more
Love the graphics and the little bit of story you added in. There not much reason to actually use the looping mechanism though, especially since the enemies spawn from the edges.
Very cute little game, I like it. Nothing too adventurous, but its well done and enjoyable. +I like the writing ;)
22 days! beat me lol
Cool game, love the art, gameplay is really solid too but i think it could've used more variety in the monsters.
I got to day 20! Graphically absolutely gorgeous!
Day 16 and I decided to try moving around instead of turret-ing in the middle. It didn't go well.
Nice, simple mechanic. Well done!
I really enjoyed playing this, and the fact that the map loops at the edges is a good take on the theme. I think you probably could have done a little more with this idea, though. As others have already pointed out, the mechanic stops being useful after the enemies show up, and the game starts actively punishing you for trying to use it (if something spawns when you try to loop).
I think with a very minor change you'd have something great. If the enemies spawned from the middle (or from the ship?), the edges would be freed up again. You could then even use the looping for mechanics. Maybe you have to shoot some enemies in the back? Maybe bullets could loop as well as the player?
A basic music loop is about the only other thing I can think of that might have improved this. I highly recommend [musagi](https://www.drpetter.se/project_musagi.html) -- it's served me well in previous competitions.
Really liked the graphics. I felt really bad when I killed the little fluffy enemies(I assume they are fluffy, never actually touched them). I think one thing that would improve the game a lot is having the bullets also wrap around the sides of the screen like the player. Then you could do "trick shots" and I think that would be immensely satisfying. Good job!
A good old shooter :) Good implementation of the theme. What I miss is more types of enemies and some pickups like health or better weapon or perhaps a small bomb that would clear the area in front of the player for a few seconds.
Simple but fun. Smooth difficulty curve. Nice sound effects. Some funny moments. Cute Art. Also is it just me or are the aliens the github Octocat...
I felt myself as a rambo, but this black dudes killed me:(. Actually, it's very relaxing and fun game, there are no minuses in this project, but it's very simple
I like the simplicity and the difficulty curve. It has a cute atmosphere, and the humor while crude and simple is actually pretty funny to me. What the fuck are those? **Shoots for two weeks straight**
Simple but fun, could use some music tho. Good job!
Great stuff! I liked what you did with the intro alot . I was mostly just sitting in the middle until the later levels
@tengusheath nice job, you did the theme :) lack music but the sound effects were nice... feels like it moves faster left and right compared with the diagonals. Did day 12 :)
Short and simple! I like it! Some more variety would have been great but you're going at it solo, so you were probably outta time. It's really well polished to that end. Good job!
Cool little game. Really liked the dialogue and graphics. Wished there was a soundtrack with some ambient space winds or something. Wished there was a cool mechanic attached to the screen looping rather than just using it to follow the theme. Anyway, you should be super proud of your little game cause its so cute and fun! Great work : )
Neat game - the graphics are polished and everything works. I only made it to Day 16 before blundering. Definitely on the simple side - you see everything the game has to offer pretty quick. Another type of enemy or maybe different weapons might've been cool. Overall, nice work.
this is a fun little game that does a lot with its simplicity. i know people have already said this but my only criticism would be that i wish the looping map would have played more of a role, because it kinda feels like it was just added to fit the theme. but i still really enjoyed this, good work!
A simple concept but the charming artwork and nice sound effects make it work. The few bits of dialog establishing a character also helped to get me a little more invested before the slaughter began. Lot of ideas for little things that could be added, but it stood on it's own well enough. Eventually my finger got tired and I fell soon after that.
Nice basic but well-polished and charming entry.
Day 11! :)
Simple, yet fun. I really hope you decide to take it a step further after Ludum Dare!
Good curve for progressin. I came to day 11 on all my atempts. Nicly done.
Day 16 so far so good. But this game lacks background music and overall score of dead aliens. Also, it will be more harder if u added reload for example. But is it seems now, your game is pretty for and addictive. You did well!
Day 19 babyyyy! Really nice little game, i loved the graphics very much!
Day 20, good game. Background music would be nice. Good job!
Love the art. Would definitely play again. However, I think you could've dug further into the jam's theme. And maybe think about adding some upgrades to further the gameplay experience. Overall, very well polished, straightforward game. Keep up!
Graphics look sweet
8 directional 2d sprites? well done. Cool pixel art as well, The game looks good, I wish there was more to it.
Cool pixel art. I like the comments the character makes, but I'm a bit thrown off by the swearing. Simple little game, works well, feels pretty good, could use a little more juice (screen shake, particles)
Would be nice to have an automatic weapon, or maybe a power up to make it automatic. Once the larger waves show up I have to click my mouse faster than fast lol click click click click click clicklickclicklicklcickkcklcklcklc lol
Good entry!
I love the comments from the astronaut, he sure is frazzled! The character designs for the astronaut and the enemies are top tier. It would be interesting if you added more variance as the levels got higher, but for a weekend this is a wonderful game. Great job :)
I love games that include random bits of dialogue like this, its adds so much character to the player / story. I initially thought the gameplay was a little easy, but then I got to about day 20 and regretted thinking that haha. So many! Would have loved a bit more variety, either in enemies or guns, but this was a fun little game :)
