LD47 — Stuck in a loop

All the same by Erkberg 2020-10-06T23:22:04Z

I really liked taking the idea of "stuck in a loop" and applying it to your game thematically. The music was really beautiful and I love how it reinforced the idea of finding pleasure in all the unexpected little details of your life. Awesome job!

Thunder Rally by smilewood 2020-10-05T04:49:01Z

This is cool! It's almost like a reverse tower defense game where you control the things on the track instead of the towers. I could definitely see this being expanded to give each car a couple more upgrade options.

nice job!

Twist Turn Shoot Burn by gamepopper 2020-10-05T05:02:02Z

I loved the atmosphere! The slowing down/speeding up mechanic was cool too. Nice job!

Looping Dancefloors by dkdwrek 2020-10-05T01:19:17Z

Good game! I would agree with the comment above that it may be nice to have some sort of gauge of how much time is left before it loops again, but overall I like the aesthetic and the game play was fun. Good job!

Pyramid Loop by joewan 2020-10-06T23:16:51Z

Pretty fun game! Laid back and I liked the visuals. Adding the stop mechanic was fun and unexpected too, I could definitely see building more puzzles off this idea. Good job!

DEATH STRING by miziziziz 2020-10-06T04:17:36Z

Great game @miziziziz! The rope physics were super fun to play around with and it was super satisfying to try to coax the bad guys into walking into my little electric whip.

Big fan of your channel, actually watching your videos for the past few months convinced me to try to participate in this LD (this is my first actual game jam)

Keep up the good work and great submission!

Loopy Planet by bigbadollie 2020-10-04T21:25:36Z

This game was fun! I actually submitted something kinda similar but different. I liked the art and the upgrade system. A potential fun upgrade could be something like being able to get a small boost and increase the speed of the ships rotation.

Good job!

a Damsel a Day by alec 2020-10-05T04:28:26Z

Love this game! Simple yet fun concept and incredibly polished with great visuals. Good job!

TRiXIT by tulipekoni 2020-10-04T23:30:30Z

I love the aesthetic of this game, it was hard but pretty satisfying once you're able to get a good score! I got to around 11.

Just Another Day by WongKongPhooey 2020-10-04T21:40:50Z

I loved the aesthetic of this game! Reminded me of the old Pokemon games on my gameboy. Also the story was fun and charming, awesome job!

GLITCH LOOP by ZakAmana 2020-10-05T01:33:22Z

Wow, this game blew me away. It's seriously crazy to think that you accomplished this in 48 hours, it's so polished and the idea is fleshed out in seriously fun and creative ways. With a couple more levels I could see this being a full release and I wouldn't have even known that it was made in just 2 days.

Great job, this is easily my favorite so far!

Vinyl by PapriGames 2020-10-04T23:24:17Z

I like the idea, it's actually pretty similar to the game I submitted. I liked the record/vinyl idea though. Maybe adding a line for the path that you're following could be helpful, or the ability to move in/out. Nice job!

WhileLoops by Ausstein 2020-10-06T23:27:36Z

Wow this game was super fun. It's almost like DOS version of Papers Please and this is the highest my heartrate has been in a while. Awesome job!

Time Prison by Tadeas Paule 2020-10-04T21:42:53Z

I liked the circular level design a lot and I actually think the idea of having to learn your way through a level over and over in a short amount of time is super fun. It's like turning speed running into a mechanic.

I did encounter a bug when I reached the room with the message on the wall where it wouldn't go away, but I just restarted it and it was fine.

Good game!

Paper Planes by SamDemaine 2020-10-05T00:03:02Z

This is probably my favorite game I've played yet! Simple, easy to learn but hard to master. The title screen did a great job of explaining the concept too without needing a tutorial. Awesome job!

Looped by KewDev 2020-10-05T00:51:59Z

Nice job! Fun platformer and the overall aesthetic is cool. I would give the jump a little more height personally, it's kinda tough to make it over the obstacles if you don't hit it perfectly. Good job!

Danger Beat by rhoff95 2020-10-05T04:53:05Z

Nice job with the idea that you're stuck inside a music loop instead of a physical one. I like that the motivation to not get hit is because you want to hear the music get more and more layered. Good job!

Creatures of the Sky by WiredSound 2020-10-06T23:35:36Z

I loved the atmosphere this game created. Dark and depressing, just what 2020 ordered! Nice job, I actually liked the silence apart from the footsteps, it gave it an cool eerie and somber mood. And of course as the others have said, the art was great. Nice job!

Hudson by Dharby 2020-10-05T01:13:13Z

I really liked this game. The idea of the UI being in the world and something you can interact with is super charming. It may be a little hard, I would consider bumping down the enemy spawn rate. Good job, though!

Survive the Temple by Duckonaut 2020-10-04T22:09:04Z

I love the art, super fun game and could definitely see it expanded out into a full release. Nice job!

In The Loop by Luc-creationallabs 2020-10-05T04:34:57Z

This is a great game. Deceptively difficult, perhaps start slower on the early levels and let it ramp up as you progress. But the physics, visuals, level design are all great. Nice job.

Gravity Loop by Jacob Bernard 2020-10-05T01:01:12Z

This is super awesome, and I cant believe that you were able to do it on Pico-8. Props, the game is super fun!

Mouseherd by typeswitch 2020-10-05T00:28:53Z

Really fun game! A little tricky to pick up at first but once the arrows are introduced the puzzles become fun and engaging. Nice job (and great sprites too!)

Loop Deleter by Zachary Barbanell 2020-10-05T04:40:55Z

Fun puzzle game! Really nice level progression slowly introducing the different mechanics and how they interact with each other. Nice job!

Collateral Damage by Michael Parrish 2020-10-05T00:06:42Z

Thanks to everyone for the feedback so far!

Collateral Damage by Michael Parrish 2020-10-06T04:10:05Z

I'm sorry I haven't had the time to respond to all of you individually but WOW I am blown away from the responses so far. This is my first game jam and I've definitely gotten a ton of great feedback that will help me expand out this idea and give me things to keep in mind as I create more games in the future.

Thanks so much to everyone who's played so far!!

Strange Planet by tengusheath 2020-10-05T00:38:30Z

Nice job! I liked the atmosphere and it was definitely satisfying to kill the aliens. I would maybe expand on this by adding a health system, so its not a one-hit kill. The one-hit kill does make it more challenging but because the first couple days are a little slow it makes getting back into the game take a little while.

Overall nice job though!

LD57 — Depths

RainDrops by Geckoo1337 2025-04-07T02:52:52Z

Wow - this blew me away, especially given that it was made in only 48 hours. The aesthetic and sound design were great, and it was really satisfying to machine-gun those balls all over the map. It was also really clever to utilize different colored walls to help keep the player from getting disoriented when exploring the map. I also really liked that the exit is looming over you the whole time. Great job!

Directive: Downwards by ThePelranthean 2025-04-07T03:50:20Z

Cute game! The 3D models were really impressive especially given the time constraints. Nice job!

Delver Delve by khaotom 2025-04-09T03:07:21Z

This was really charming! I really liked the twist of a platformer where the goal is to fall down the holes. The 8 bit aesthetic was really well done, and the level design was great. It really made me think hard about if/when I wanted to use my stockpile of supplies.

Also, as a fellow Microfreak owner, I'm always happy to see it get some love :D Nice job!

Depth of Field by Gao Ming 2025-04-07T02:32:09Z

Wow - so my original idea for this game jam was something really similar to this, but I couldn't get the math to work in order to consistently determine if something was in focus or not. That being said, even if I had, it wouldn't have come out half this good or charming! This is really awesome, it controls amazingly, and looks fantastic too. Great entry!

Hyperspacedive by marudziik 2025-04-09T03:26:21Z

This is really awesome! The fact that you're able to achieve this kind of visual depth with a limited color palette and resolution is really incredible. Admittedly because the circles were green I thought the goal was to get as many as possible at first, but I quickly realized what I was doing wrong. Great entry!

Forged Below by freamdev 2025-04-09T03:01:52Z

This was a fun entry! The minecraft and overcooked hybrid mechanics actually really complimented each other, it was a clever twist on that formula. I also liked the voxel look of the dwarves and the little lava snail was cute. One bit of feedback is I wish I could have pet it lol. Nice job!

DESCEND with CAUTION by LightningST 2025-04-07T02:24:21Z

I really liked this! The level design was great - I loved how each set of checkpoints acted as its own little level, but everything was woven together in a way where it really felt like you were going on an epic journey. The death sound and animation were really satisfying too. Nice job!

Minesweeper 3D by LittleGamer 2025-04-07T02:43:52Z

This was actually a really cool twist on Minesweeper! It definitely added a new challenge - keeping track of the different layers was actually more challenging than I expected. I did find the camera and background a little disorienting, but the gameplay was really fun and solid. Nice job!

Hole Punch by Michael Parrish 2025-04-07T02:39:16Z

@gargantuan-janitor I actually originally did have that implemented - but I ended up changing it to make it less punishing/less confusing why you lost. I'll have to see if I can find some better feedback for that case and add it back in. Thanks for playing!

Hole Punch by Michael Parrish 2025-04-08T15:55:30Z

Wow, I think my high score was 52m so it looks like I'm no longer the world hole punch record holder. Congrats @xwilq!

Hole Punch by Michael Parrish 2025-04-08T15:57:00Z

And thanks to everyone else who's been playing/posting their scores!

Hole Punch by Michael Parrish 2025-04-08T22:17:53Z

@yopin dear god, he’s done it. He’s reached the edge of the earth. The Prophecy has come true!

2D INFINITE MINE by Cafe Spectrum Studio 2025-04-09T02:45:35Z

Nice job! I was able to get 191 gold, not too shabby if I do say so myself. I really liked the sprite-work. One suggestion is to maybe increase the game speed over time, so as you get deeper you have to react a little faster. Good entry!

Deep Drop by bad_fetus 2025-04-09T02:52:28Z

Turns out I am not that good at video games after all.

This was a fun entry! I imagined myself a little frog hopping between these platforms. The physics felt nice and actually the jump distance/power felt weirdly intuitive. Nice job!

if cows could fly by sweltj 2025-04-07T02:09:48Z

Cute game! The music was really nice, and it was fun to control the cow in free fall. I think one small bit that would improve the game feel would be to add a little more feedback when you pop the balloons, like a sound effect or screens shake or something. Nice job!

Descent by Subsolar 2025-04-07T04:14:28Z

This was really awesome! The blending of the top down and platforming sections was really well done, I was really trying to speedrun to make sure I wasn't stuck in the gauntlet too long. The game feel was super crunchy and satisfying too. Art, sfx, mechanics, this was great across the board. Nice job!

No Bottom by Manuel Cabrerizo 2025-04-07T02:13:08Z

This game controls really well! That coupled with the great flying squirrel model makes this a super fun one to play. Great entry!

Undertetris by Rinevard 2025-04-07T02:37:32Z

This was a really clever twist on tetris, utilizing game mechanics we're all familiar with and applying them to a whole different genre. Nice job!

House Rules by engoneer 2025-04-09T03:15:05Z

I'm really impressed that you were able to pull together a card game in such a short amount of time - that's not easy. The aesthetic was really great too - the art and sound design were really well executed. I loved the muffled, reverby voice of the old woman, it really added to the eeriness of it all. Nice job!

Breachy Sub by UpsettiGames 2025-04-07T02:06:03Z

This was a ton of fun! Bouncing around the slime was really satisfying, especially once you get that 16m weight. Really impressive level design for only 48 hours. Nice job!
