This was a fun crafting sim (also liked the hidden surprise). I played it until victory. The game's strength was good pacing.

One small quip: I think when I upgraded the productivity the second time, it didn't do anything. The interaction buttons also lack feedback when they are pressed, so it is sometimes unclear whether I failed at pressing button or if the recipe does not exist.

But all in all, wonderful for creating that in such a short time!

mcramon 2025-04-07 15:48

Pretty cool simulator, graphics are a little underwhelming even though it is hard to make decent 3d assets during a 48-hour jam. Overall plays decently well, good job!

freamdev 2025-04-08 06:58

@lazyanttu Thank you! The button feedback is defintly on my Todo list, and the upgrade scaling was a last minute ballance call, and a bad one: not every level give you a full item chance...

@mcramon Thank you! Wish I had your talent for art! Your entry looks professional.

rustywolf 2025-04-08 07:23

Loved the ramping, felt fair. Good work!

toppervideogames 2025-04-08 08:26

The constant demand for weapons is a good pressure to keep the player moving. I felt stuck in a tight loop until I got some upgrades, then suddenly I felt that it was too easy to meet all the demands. It is an odd balance to reach, as after that it was just a waiting game to reach the end. The noise design is mostly good, though one sound kept playing that sounded negative but I did not know what it signified, as I was meeting the demands at that point. I would have liked to see more tiers of forging unlocked past the second set. Good work all around!

freamdev 2025-04-08 10:14

@rustywolf Thank you! :smiley:

@toppervideogames Yes the upgrades are way too strong, unfortunatly ran out of time to do a better ballance run wich also ties into the differnt upgrades/ore tiers. Let's just say I had many dreams on saturday morning and this is what left by sunday night  Thanks for playing!

batthecat 2025-04-08 13:24

nice craft system game... i miss a little feedbacks when you get the itens, but its pretty fun game system, congrats

michael-parrish 2025-04-09 03:01

This was a fun entry! The minecraft and overcooked hybrid mechanics actually really complimented each other, it was a clever twist on that formula. I also liked the voxel look of the dwarves and the little lava snail was cute. One bit of feedback is I wish I could have pet it lol. Nice job!

freamdev 2025-04-09 07:42

@batthecat Thanks, I tried to mess around with particle effects for the item feedback, I think I needed to start working on sounds earlier and just record me hitting a pan or something for smithing noises...

@michael-parrish Hahaha maybe in a future update the snail will return  Thanks for playing, glad you had a good time!

scoobysnacks 2025-04-09 13:30

i tried to play without Recipe Book but i guess i'm not a real dwarf)

gifarre 2025-04-09 13:42

I think there should be 1 recipe in the beginning or at least the quest log should indicate how many iron bars, I also figured out how to click buttons very late, UI needs a bit improvement. Overall a good idea but needs work, good luck!

chuckiee 2025-04-09 13:50

Love it! I found 4 hidden bars :eyes: Was there more? Unfortunately, I got bankrupt and softlocked myself by purchasing wrong materials (and bad rng to get 3 magic sword requests at the same time on top of that). I had a lot of fun regardless. I'd say, would be nice to improve pick up system using a shape cast instead of raycast, so it has a radius of selection. Well done! :100: Also, dwarfs = best race

the3rdhunter 2025-04-09 13:57

Great work. I like the visuals and vibe of this game. Minecraft has made voxels and crafting synonymous, so your models felt like it fit with the theme. The lighting and audio gives the space a suitably subterranean vibe. And I like that you didn't provide any crafting recipes. I true dwarf has no need for instructions! You just feel the smithing inside you!!! Awesome job!

freamdev 2025-04-09 21:34

@scoobysnacks You just need to belive, there is a true dwarf in all of us!

@gifarre I tried to imply with the tutorial text, and how they follow eachother that the first item only need 1 iron, guess it failed a bit  Thanks for playing!

@chuckiee YES you found all the bars! You are just a few items away to craft a sword out of them. It sells for a nice sum of money  You also did the exact same thing I did on my first run after release, invest into iron, go bankrupt because people want magic... I never tried shape casting but I'll look into it!

@the3rdhunter Thank you! I suffered so much with the audio, very happy you liked it

psychomonster 2025-04-10 10:22

Cool. Thats a cool simulation like game. I needed some time to understand how to use the machines and so on, but I really like the mood and idea. A bit of soundFX were missing, but at least it had some background music

Good Job

texugo 2025-04-10 11:42

This is such a nice idea! I found a little hard to know how many bars I needed at the beginning because the recipe list was empty, so I melted all of my iron, put everything on the anvil and started taking tem out one by one until it worked HAHAHAHAH I missed a little more feedback for when I'm pressing stuff, but still this was a really fun experience. (Please let me pet the fire snail)

freamdev 2025-04-10 12:28

@psychomonster Thank you, I was having a hard time to generate metal noises and was too dumb to actually record me boinking some pans...

@texugo That is certanly... a way to figure out recips  I like to read how people approch the problem, thank you for playing!

marudziik 2025-04-10 13:47

A great idea, really. Loved the voxel art, the crafting system works. I agree with some of the comments, that the game could use some additional feedback (like when the sword is done or similar). You didn't even need to smash pans to add audio, you can do a sound with your mouth and that would probably work too. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye: And quite impressive for a compo entry, great job!

monogatari 2025-04-10 15:50

I like the idea of the game, music and aesthetics works perfectly but it was hard to play because my mouse kept going out the game even in fullscreen (maybe cause of the second monitor?) Anyway that's a little problem but the rest is good ! Great job !

freamdev 2025-04-11 14:19

@marudziik Thank you, I working on adding some feedback for a post compo version right now

@monogatari That sounds like an odd issue, maybe its the browser build, but the cursor should lock to the middle of the screen after clicking inside the application once. Thanks for playing!

d-demetori 2025-04-11 19:25

Nice idea, but could not make it far, too repetitive for me

freamdev 2025-04-12 08:02

@d-demetori Understandable deffinetly not for everyone  thanks for playing!

yorsh 2025-04-12 17:11

It's maybe lacking some twist on this classic gameplay (maybe something that would connect with the theme a bit more) but it's complete and works well. Congrats!

atsh 2025-04-12 19:02

Like someone said - it feels like a mix between minecraft and overcooked. The graphics are really good, especially the models of the dwarves client, nicely animated too.

I'm less connected to the idea of trying out recepies - and was a little frustrated when I made an expensive gem based sword, only to discover it's something else because the models are so similar. I think there's not enough feedback when you're doing somethinig wrong, like giving a customer the wrong item. The controls were also a little weird - I'm wondering if left click can replace E to make it more intuitive

I think you did succeed in what you wanted to make, which is the important thing - I think just a little more direction can make it more accessible for someone like me :)

freamdev 2025-04-12 21:35

@yorsh Yea on saturday I had dreams of also having to explore an underground cave system for differnt kind of ores that would of helped with the theme but ofc I over estimated my abilities

@atsh Thank you, I struggeled a lot with the models and hate all of them so it makes me happy when people like it  I think with the recipes and what dwarf ordered I fell into the "I played this 20 hours and makes perfect sense to me". Next time I'll try to incorporate some more playtesting by others before the deadline. Thanks for playing!

wisstopher 2025-04-12 22:37

This was a wonderful entry, every component seemed to work as intended. I loved it

binaryprinciple 2025-04-13 13:52

The environment is so well done with the lightning and soundtrack. I liked the overcook idea of having to satisfy the orders in a specific amount of time. I would recommend: add sounds when crafing (randomize the pitch), add a motive for building these orders. What about you are the one providing weapons to them because they are fighting an evil enemy that is trying to take the mines, and if you fail to provide a total of weapons or within a time limit, then they will loose and get to you. Since reaching the quota of 12000 gold coins might be to big.

freamdev 2025-04-14 06:32

@wisstopher Thank you for playing, glad you had a nice time!

@binaryprinciple I think adding a second level of urgency could be fun instead of capitalism. I'll deffinetly prototype that one day  Thanks for playing!

jumbocactuarx27 2025-04-22 01:26

I couldn't figure out how to craft anything, so instead I spent a lot of time wishing I could pet the magma slugmagmaslug.png I love it.

The graphics were really great, but the UI and tutorializing could use a bit of work.

freamdev 2025-04-22 05:44

@jumbocactuarx27 Another fan of the Lavasnail, should of just made a game about it... I would recommend trying to put only one iron bar on the crafting table and go from there.

The UI needs a lot of work espeically on the feedback side, but was my first time doing floating world UIs... it shows

Thanks for playing!
