Nice little game. Pandas are just awesome as are exit buttons in web games. ^^

Nice little game. Pandas are just awesome as are exit buttons in web games. ^^
Very nice game, I really like the graphics style and audio.
Awesome game, I really like the graphics. Hope you make a longer version after LD.
Good idea, cool game. The theme is a little tacked one, but that's no problem. What is a problem are the controls. I don't know if it's just me, but the arrow-key presses were only recognized around 30% of the time. Also, the textbox could be bigger for easier reading. The highscorelist is a good motivation.
Nice little defense game. I would suggest changing the difficulty icons, an arrow down or a minus means less difficult to me. Construct 2, yeah!
Poor chicken! Fun game with nice music and graphics. It felt a little weird to have the fox going in the jump direction without further pressing a button though.
This is a nice foundation. The movement really felt a little weird, but I liked the graphics. I would suggest getting rid of the 10s-theme in future versions or making the timer upgradeable too, because that time limit was pretty annoying.
Very pleasant and satisfying to play, the graphics and music created a nice mood. Really liked it!
Interesting story concept, nice pixel art. I enjoyed this quite a bit.
Not much in terms of gameplay, but the art and mood are great. Best thing about it is the music though, absolutely love it.
Nice idea, but apart from the last few levels, who showed quite some potential, the concept doesn't really work because you don't have to memorize anything due to there only being one way. The mainchar graphic looks very RPG-Maker-y. ^^
Those enemies are really fierce. Fun concept and game overall.
Very nice graphics and audio. The game itself was pretty much pure luck, but could really turn into something interesting.
Stunning visuals and music! Nice gameplay too with the rotations. Walljumping felt a little strange and the character moves a bit too slow, but apart from that this is an awesome game.
The tiny window made it even more retro. ^^
I like the use of sound as the timer, but the difficulty is really high, gave up after almost beating it in the 10th run.
Nice platformer with an interesting, theme-fitting twist. I liked the graphics and the possibility to choose different paths. Good job!
Really good graphics and audio, nice athmosphere. It's very hard to get past enemies in narrow passages though.
Short and simple, but really nice. Graphics and sounds are done/used very well.
What have I become? Doing some nice cleaning in a game while my room is still a mess...
Anyway, funny idea!
Solid tower defense foundation. Providing some information about towers and enemies, the possibility to sell towers and tower upgrades would be possible improvements.
Nice game with really good graphics, could use a little more variety.
Really cool gameplay, feels very smooth. Got stuck later on, but I had a lot of fun playing this.
Funny and really good visuals/audio. Not making it in time is pretty disgusting...just like in real life, I guess. ^^
Nice gameplay. I can't get to the next level too, using win7 and chrome. I would suggest leaving the music on during the level. Good game!
Awesome game, really funny and creative. Nice audio and visuals. 5/5 overall!
Very enjoyable minigames, great interpretation of the theme.
Thanks for the feedback! That's a good idea, it should solve that problem.
Thanks for all your feedback! The meow-sound is my voice recorded and I thought it would really annoy people. ^^
And I like cats too, but it's really about time someone stops their dominance.
I will probably get rid of the inertia in a future version, it really is pretty unnecessary.
The boss is supposed to be hard as hell, but beating it only gives you the title of "Pandaren Brewmaster", which might be just as disappointing to some as not beating it at all.
Multishot does fire multiple projectiles at an angle from level 3 on.
Thanks again to everyone who played and commented. It really makes me happy to read about you enjoying the game.
I will make the bamboo fly out a little from a corpse in a future version, it should be easier to collect then. Also, the symbol is highly temporary.
Fun little shooter. I enjoyed it, but the framerate went really low, when lots of enemies were in the level.
Extremely good looking and the gameplay is also fun, really enjoyed this.
That is a really fast moving sloth! Some sounds and music would be nice. It's also a little frustrating to start again from level 1 everytime you die. Apart from that, nice game.
Nice game, cool idea, but getting this guy to jump the way I want him to is a pain.
The changing objectives and the switch of level architectures made this interesting.
Really fun to play, somehow reminded me of N.
Great game! Really liked the graphics and audio and the general gameplay and feel. Difficulty was also about right, until I got to the bouncing dots, which was pretty frustrating. Not because of the dots themselves, but because the timelimit at that point demanded perfect execution and I just couldn't accomplish that. :(
I enjoyed these minigames. In the beary one I won by just spamming. ^^
Good job, especially on the graphics.
Nice memory game. It was somehow cute to watch this guys jump to their death with a smile on their face. ^^
Great art style, fluent gameplay, really liked it! Some powerups would've been cool.
It's really hard to read and choose that fast.
Great idea! I really liked the gameplay and the graphics. The stepping sound got a little annoying though.
Simple and well executed memory game that could use some variation. Good job!
Wow, what a great game! The concept is awesome and I absolutely love those graphics.
Great game, pretty hard, but the gameplay is really fun. Also love the graphics.
Really liked it, nice roguelike!
Love the graphics, but the timelimit is brutal.
Nice idea, the gameplay was really good.
Nice idea and execution, really liked it! Nice graphics too. Sounds and music would make this even better. If you get rid of the 10s restriction afterwards, this could very well transform into a good puzzle-rpg.
Sculpting peacefully is such a relaxing thing to do. I would like to see a button to undo your last step. Good job overall!
Drugs are bad, mkay?
Nice game, I like the graphics, the music and especially the shot sound. ^^
A funny FTL? Awesome!
A higher pace would be nice, but apart from that this is a nice game. I like the music, too.
Great game overall, really nice graphics and audio. The gameplay was very good too, I enjoyed this a lot.
Far from finished, but this is a solid foundation. Nice graphics and audio!
Very nice graphics and audio, really fun to play with another player. Great job!
Nice idea, I enjoyed the gameplay and really liked the graphics and music. Great job!
Great game overall, I really enjoyed it.
It's not much, but the foundation is solid. It could do with some more exploration and some hidden chests or maybe chests you only reach by solving simple roll-stones-around puzzles or something like that.
A very interesting game. It did get a little repetetive, like stated before. A little more variety in the outcomes of actions would be nice. For example, I was hoping to find some more by going to town than just one thing or that something will happen if I let the human read enough or maybe some random event happens while going for a run. Overall though, it kept me interested for one playthrough, good job!
Nice gameplay, I had quite some fun with it.
Nice, efficient gameplay. The audio and graphics really build up the mood. Overall a really good game.
An unusual gameplay mechanic combined with really nice graphics and audio make for a very fun little gaming experience. Very good job!
I added a walkthrough for anyone who gets stuck. About that hammer thing: If you just click a tree, it says that you can't kick it. This should lead the player to the idea of using something else to shake the tree. And yes, the shoe is only there for distraction.
We were a little short on time, so we could not add too much in terms of animations. There are some particles and moving objects though to make the screens a little less static.
Nice game, really reminds of some idle-games I've played. It would be great if the ressources harvested themselves and you only got to change the type though, because it takes a lot of clicks to harvest and plant more than 5 pods. Great job overall!
Really hard, but also very fun to play.
I just love idle games and this is a really well made one, good job!
Quite a nice game. I espacially liked the music. I would suggest using some kind of scaling, couldn't see the whole screen on my laptop.
Nice concept and an overall very fun game. I enjoyed it quite a bit, good job!
A nice game, but those buttons really need some feedback. Good graphics and audio!
Overall a nice game. Clean artstyle and good mechanics. The controls however did not really work for me. Switching between mouse and keyboard, I ended up trying not to spin at all to be able to use my right hand to buy upgrades. I suggest either adding hotkeys for the upgrades or using the mouse to spin.
Great job for a first time! I love the exploration and the general concept. The humor really made me laugh and the game has a good amount of content already. Unofortunately, the bugs ruin it a little. Had to turn down the volume because of the intro-music-bug. Also, I couldn't finish the game, because after the guy gave me the pistol and I fired one shot, he didn't refill it. I therefor call him a traitor and make him walk the plank! Nontheless, I see a hell lot of potential here, keep up the good work!
Wow, that was fantastic! A beautiful and very powerful game with really good music.
Pretty fun and flawless game, but I really suck at it. ;)
A very good game! The art is beautiful, the music is great (and reminds a little of MegaMan) and the general concept and gameplay is very interesting. There's also plenty of content. My only small complaint would be the end, which was pretty unsatisfying. Overall an excellent job and one of the best games I played so far.
An interesting game. Great work for the very small timeframe. I espacially liked the fact that I could pee so often. ^^
Probably the best game I played so far. I love the graphics and the gameplay is just awesome. Only too things to criticize if I had too: Music would make this even better and it got a tiny bit tedious towards the end. Great job!
Really, really great overall. I almost quit at the bossfight too, because I didn't notice the hurt-sound, but I just wanted to see how the game ends and it was totally worth it and hilarious.
An amazing game! The graphics are really good, the music creates a nice mood and the gameplay is fantastic, great job!
Probably the best game I played so far, really fun gameplay and I also like the graphics. Great job!
Wow, what an amazing game! Nice visuals, great gameplay and even greater music and sounds. Awesome overall!
Really hard, but the controls and general gameplay feel so smooth it just makes you go on and try again. A very good game, great job!
Very interesting gameplay and really good looking, an amazing game overall.
Great pixel art, really cool gameplay, I like it!
The water mechanic makes this a lot of fun, good job! The first time I won was by suicide of the AI. :)
Simple, clever and really fun, great job!
Quite unfinished, but I can see a lot of potential here.
A very hard and "flappy" game, but the movement felt really good. Visuals and audio are also nice, good job overall!
A fun little metroidvanian platformer, good job! It would've been cool to use the light from the crystals as a gameplay mechanic, for example making the whole screen very dark and only clearly visible around the crystals and then make the light around them pulsate (which is very easy to do using C2's sine behaviour).
Hey there, just wanted to say thanks for all your nice comments and feedback. I'll go into a little more detail considering some points made.
The gameplay really is not that special and the map really is a tad too big. I wanted to fill it with more objects like the bushes and sticks, but time ran out. Also the mechanic of the monster tearing holes in the world doesn't really work, cause it's not challenging enough. I need to work on that if I do a post-compo version. Some little puzzles would also be a good idea.
I didn't really prepare for any theme in advance (just thought about "Break the rules" a little ^^) and my initial thought for the game was that beneath it's surface, everything could be something else. I realize it might seem like I wanted to do "Everything is connected", because these words appear exactly like this in the game, but this actually was a later thought.
The idea and story of the game is heavily influenced by Hermann Hesse's great novel "Siddhartha". I'm not completely satisfied with my writing though, especially in the end, which probably makes it hard to follow the thoughts. I encourage you to read the book if you are interested.
A specials thanks to igwb for your long comment, it really made my day. :)
It would be nice to restart at the level you were instead of in the very beginning, apart from that a fine idea and nice execution.
Really cool game, so fast paced!
Great idea and really interesting gameplay. I like it!
Great and fine looking, I could see this expand to a really nice strategy game.
Really cool concept, but also very hard. When it said there's a twist after 3 I thought it would be after the third level, got me there. :)
Nice game! I enjoyed the dark and minimalist visual style and the texts. It would have been really cool if, like in "stage" 2, the texts would more often appear in non-linear order, making you guess what's next or just messing with your brain. :)
PS: Thank you for the nice long comment for my game. I wrote an answer in my games comments section, if you're interested.
Nice snake-like game, I like the gameplay mechanic and the sounds and music are really good.
This is actually a lot of fun, a really nice concept. I also liked the military soundscape. :)
One suggestion: Maybe make the players have a little bit more time to react, that timeframe is very small. Good job!
Nice idea and visuals, but the controls and collisions felt strange. I'd suggest less drag, a freely moveable crosshair and better bounding boxes.
A nice game, good idea, graphics and sound, but the controls are really annoying for someone with a non-qwerty keyboard layout like me, please consider providing alternative controls in the future.
There he is, digging for the most valuable minerals in the world and can't buy the next upgrade because he has no iron, the irony! :)
That aside, I really love upgrade games and this is a good one, kept me entertained until the end. Good job!
Very nice idea, well executed. I really liked the gameplay and the graphics, but there is one downside. Not everyone has a qwerty-keyboard, I for example have a qwertz layout, which makes my fingers sad while playing this game. :)
Please consider adding alternative controls.
A fun little game. The movement would probably feel smoother if you could keep going up by holding space down, not having to smash it so often. I really liked the particles. :)
Great entry! It has a simple, yet satisfying mechanic and I really like the cute graphics style. It's a bit on the easy side, but that's totally fine.
Fun, but a little bit on the easy side. Maybe you could make the bullets you fire destroy yourself to make things a bit more interesting.
Great game, really relaxing gameplay. I could imagine this working great on mobile.
Very interesting and intelligent game mechanic. I also like the graphics and music a lot. Really great game overall.
That is one great game. I love the fast-pacedness, it just plays very fluently. Also, the graphics and audio are very good. Overall: Awesome!
Nice concept and execution. Somehow, it's really fascinating. Good job!
Really great game, quite a lot of content for a jam. The music and art is awesome. Good job!
Cool music, very cute art, a really nice game overall.
A fantastic short game. I love the art and audio, together it creates a very special mood.
Nice mechanic, lovely visuals, good job!
Really nice game, I played it through to the end and enjoyed it. Graphics, audio and gameplay are all very good. Two small suggestions: The tail the player draws behind him looks kinda bad, maybe get rid of it or replace with a nice looking particle effect? And in one of the last levels, where you had to move the platform along with you, I kept clipping through the platform, which was kinda frustrating.
But these are minor complaints, overall the game is really good.
A nice little game. I really liked the quotes and the music. The basic game idea would be a solid foundation for a coop game. One suggestion: A goal or an indicator of progress (like distance as sort of a highscore) would be nice. Good job overall!
Awesome art and great idea. The difficulty seemed a little unfair sometimes.
Extremely beautiful, but so very short.
Wow, what an awesome game this is! That pixel art is gorgous and together with the music it really sets the mood. Great job!
Powerful and inspiring, really made me think.
Thank you for this conversation.
Nice one, kinda reminded me of doodle god. Good job!
5/5 humor, that was hilarious! First game I played that made me laugh out loud.
This is great. I love the minimalistic style and the music, it really sets a nice mood. The game is very hard though, after failing more than 10 times in a level I gave up. Amazing job though, I enjoyed this very much.
Very nice concept and execution. Love the death scream! :)
Really good idea and execution with a nice graphics style. Good job!
Nice artstyle, good music and the gameplay is fun, I enjoyed it!
Noodle.
Wow, this is really impressive. With a little more content I can see this become an awesome endless "runner". Visuals, audio and flow are already top notch. Great job!
Really neat graphics style. The gameplay is nice too. Problems are the bad performance and the controls. Please provide alternative controls for non-qwerty keyboard layouts.
Pretty hard, but impressive work for only 9 hours and those are fun minigames. The overall time constraint was a little annoying, would've loved to play through the game without it. Only managed to beat three of the minigames in time, yeah, I'm bad at this. :)
First things first: If you provide a web link, the game should be playable in the browser and it should not just lead to a download. Second: Chrome marks the exe as malware (and Windows Smartscreen is also complaining). Third: Please provide alternative controls for different keyboard layouts. It's always awkward to play a game that uses the Z key with a qwertz layout.
Apart from that, the game is really awesome. I love the graphics style, the gameplay is fast and the music gets my blood pumpin'. Great entry overall.
This is a great foundation to build something awesome upon. I like the graphical style and the music very much. The sound effects sounded a little cheap compared to the music and the movement was sometimes a little too draggy. Apart from that, I enjoyed this a lot.
Wow, extremely polished, very nice and relaxing gameplay. This would truly work great on mobile. Just amazing what you did here in just a few days.
I can fight myself and win, that's nice. :)
I really like the idea of this game, with a lot of work this could be an addicting browsergame one day. The graphics are also already nice. Good job!
Great art and music, very nice gameplay too. I enjoyed this quite a lot, good job!
Great game, awesome mechanic. I love the graphics and how everyone starts dancing once you collected all the hearts (except poor explanation guy).
"I know how to hammer." Such badass, wow!
This is a really great game, I enjoyed playing through it a lot. The "action" sequences, coupled with the music, really got my blood pumping. I also liked the graphics and the story (I was thinking about doing something similar, but decided against it). Overall, this game is just awesome.
Wow, what a great game! I love the graphics (amazing animations!), the awesome music and the adventury gameplay, which was very interesting. It felt so good to smash the pipes out of the guy who already stole 8 gold from me. :)
Really, really great job overall!
Wow, that was really great. I really liked the interpretation of the theme, the controls and gameplay mechanics worked very well. Visuals and audio are very nice and the amount of levels is impressive. Amazing job overall!
Nice puzzly game mechanic. I really like the art, it's quite different from what you usually get to see and the fact that almost everything is in some way animated makes the screen look very dynamic. I could easily see this become a nice puzzle game with more levels AND you could tell a narrative in an innovative way with this mechanic.
Amazing job on the art and mood of the game. Gameplay is kind of not there and unfortunately it ran at very low fps on my laptop, still enjoyed this quite a bit. Good job overall!
Very juicy and fast paced, great fun for a quick play. Loved the "Get ready...murder!" in the beginning. Good job overall.
Interesting game! The point and click mechanics were well done and I also liked the graphics and music. Good job overall!
Pretty awesome game! I really liked the graphics, the audio and the gameplay. The concept of quick change of position by travelling as code is great. I got stuck in level 3 though, because one of the enemies spawned inside a wall and I could not target it. Apart from that, what bugged me a little was that enemies could see through walls, but the player can see their sight, so that's not a big problem. Great job overall!
Pretty damn amazing game. Loved the graphics and audio, very polished. The gameplay was very fluid and satisfying and the transitions between the levels are very cool. I could imagine this one going into a rogue-like direction, with maybe a shop now and then to upgrade your character, or something like that. Really great job overall!
Really nice game. The graphics are cute, the audio is good and the gameplay mechanics are quite interesting. I liked how the chain affected your movement and the fact that you could burn the trees.
The game is still a bit buggy though, on my first attempt it didn't advance to level 2. Also, the hit detection seemed kind of random.
Made it to level 4, it was a bit annoying to not be able to move when close to an enemy, which ultimately killed me. Overall, I liked this game, good job!
Pretty awesome game! I liked everything about it, the graphics, audio and especially the mechanics. Very good job overall!
Thank you so much for your kind words and your feedback, I'm really glad you like the game.
@Krunoslav: Well, at the moment the game doesn't have much meaning, so the purple monster is just some random idol. I intended on giving the game a meaning like "humanity destroys nature", but somehow got lost along the way.
@Iak: This actually gives me a whole lot of ideas. Just change the scope of the game in different phases and the incremental design can advance further. Maybe even start on a molecular level. Don't want to end up with something like Spore though. :)
@Matthew Rayfield: Yeah, the boss doesn't really have cues on how to beat him, that's a flaw of the game. You have to hit him with the little green guy when his shield is down, which is the case when the green ground (which advances by upgrading plants) reaches him.
Hi ponk, thanks for your feedback again! What you're suggesting is exactly what the second idol-upgrade does (first one is the rain). I thought about giving some visual feedback to the player what it does, but decided to leave it to the player to find out. Maybe it would've been clearer and more useful if I added a little magnetic effect to the mouse cursor, I will probably do that in a possible post-compo version.
Hey bro! It's been really cool having you over for the jam, I hope next we all make it to the end (maybe even together as a team). This game is a solid foundation for an idle-clicker-civ-builder game, nothing more and nothing less. I do like the few graphics you got there.
I recently discovered a similar game you probably don't know about yet which could give you some inspiration. Just google for "kittens game", but beware, it's pretty addictive. (well, like most idle games)
Anyway, good job and until next time!
Pretty cool game. I especially like how sometimes the level changes and mixes up everything. It's a little hard to switch between controlling the bag and exploding stuff, maybe let the bag be controlled by keyboard?
Graphics are fine, the music is quite relaxing and it's just great fun to explode stuff and watch everything fly away, good job overall!
Hey buddy, it's been a pleasure jamming with you!
You got a really nice game here. Once you get into it, it challenges the player mentally, but the control scheme is hard to get into. A way to cancel a spell, like huggabugga said, would already help a lot (sorry for not thinking about this at all). You already know that I love the graphics, so all that is left for me to say is: Good job and I'm looking forward to the next one.
Nice take on the theme, very enjoyable graphics and audio and I also liked the gameplay / controls. Those damn traps got me like everytime. Great job overall!
Really nice for a 9h game! Solid gameplay and good animations. One thing that bugged me was having no air control, but that was more than evened out by the fun I had smacking Rudolph. Good job overall!
It's an awesome game, really quite frantic, I liked it a lot. Some minor flaws would be:
- I played it with gamepad, but there seem to be no alternate controls for different keyboard layouts (like qwertz, it's always a pain to use arrows together with x and z for me)
- music would make it even more awesome
- if you only need to finish one more level, it could take some time to actually get there (it seemed to me the next level was chosen randomly), maybe levels you haven't finished yet should have a higher chance of occuring
Great job overall!
Very polished, seems like it could be a great mobile game. Good job overall!
A very cute little game. I did enjoy the progress towards true snowmanliness. The graphics were a little incohesive, but this made the interactive objects stick out more, so maybe that's intended. I really liked the snowflakes effect, audio was cute and fitting too. Overall, I enjoyed this little journey very much, good job!
Very nice game, I really enjoyed the visuals and the way the movement feels with the camera following loosely. The main characters graphic felt a bit out of place, as did the music, who was a little too happy, in my opinion, for a game called "All is lost", which is about extinction. :)
One little suggestion: Add WASD as alternative control.
Good job overall!
Nice ideas here, really liked the music and the different mechanics, the game needs a little more work though. Levels begin and end to slowly and the transitions between them are not optimal. Good job overall!
Nice take on the theme. I really liked the art style and the puzzles. Great job overall!
That was fantastic! Really liked the idea and the gameplay, also the visuals and audio were great, and the humor even more so. One of the best games I played this LD, amazing job!
A fun little game, very well polished. The movement feels good, especially the time slowing effect. Graphics a very good as is audio. One small suggestion: Make a "Best Score so far" to encourage players to try again and top their previous highscore. Good job overall!
Pretty fun little game. I liked the mechanics with your wizard being able to jump higher und thus collect more shards when upgrading your tower. However, it got really hard and a little frustrating with higher tower levels, because one can't see the meteors below and to the right of the planet and with the tower rising higher I found it almost impossible to defend it and also upgrade it more. That I did try for quite some time means the game is really fun.
Graphics and audio are cute and fitting, good job overall!
Wow, that was adorable and really well made. I pretty much loved everything about the game, except maybe for the end, but just cause I wished it was longer. Amazing job overall!
I really like the graphics of this game and the soundeffects are also good. The gameplay could be great, if only one could do more than just press space, like choose your own path. In two runs I didn't get a dungeon upgrade so it was really just pressing space all the time, but I can imagine it's more fun if you have to think about such decisions.
Anyway, good job overall!
Nice sword fighting game. It felt a little slow, but thereby also tactical. Wait for the opponent to strike, block, then strike yourself. I really enjoyed the music, pretty epic stuff.
Suggestion: Add a mode for two players, that's be really fun.
And thanks a lot for using x and c for controls as opposed to the often seen x and z. My fingers are very happy about that. :)
Good game overall!
A nice endless runner, I really liked the visuals and audio. Controls worked well and felt good. Gameplay was kinda standard, with the exception that not every contact with obstacles kills you but instead you have to jump onto them, which was pretty cool, although quite hard and sometimes buggy (the level elements would move together with me when I landed just barely on top of them). Good job overall!
PS: Needs more hats!
That dress in the end :)
Really fun and funny game, gotta love some insult battles, good job!
That was pretty amazing! Really enjoyed the graphics and the sfx. What stood however was the gameplay. Movement and throwing the helmet feels just right and the level design is also good. Great job!
Wow, that was amazing! I loved the graphics, the music and the sounds (that "move please" is so cute). The gameplay was really solid too and the game seems very long for a jam entry (I only made it through floor 1 yet, but I'll definitely come back and finish this, I expect the puzzles to get much harder ^^). The only minor negative thing I noticed: When moving there is a slight delay before moving on to the next tile, which made it feel a little choppy. This doesn't take away anything from the great overall experience though, it's just an awesome game.
Great concept and nice execution, also quite some content. I really enjoyed this one, good job!
Hey there LD people, just wanted to thank you all for your comments and feedback. I know the gameplay is nothing special and could be tweaked a little (or even a lot). I just got distracted with other things and didn't work on it enough to make it really good. For example the shooting enemies don't really work at all, they shoot too often when there's a bunch of them, you can beat them easily by just staying out of range and their bullets are hard to see. Which brings me to the next criticism: The game is too dark. That's very true. I would've just had to increase the size of the overlay and this would've disappeared (as well as that thing being too small in higher resolutions), which really bugs me. I just didn't notice that, quite literally had tunnel vision.
Anyway, enough of the negative stuff. :)
I love it that you all enjoy the audio so much. I try to improve on the artsy sides of things, though I'm not really confident yet. Seems like I at least got better with the music. What do think of the graphics? Honestly, I only like the characters, the instruments look kinda bad and the backgrounds are just empty. Any advice on how to improve?
Alright, so thank you all again for your comments, I really enjoy reading them. A very special big fat THANK YOU to Rialgar for doing the first ever real let's play of any of my games that I know of. Watching that video put a big smile on my face and was very heart warming, so thank you so much for that!
What an amazing game! Beautiful graphics, innovative gameplay, extremely impressive!
Beautiful graphics, nice mood, fitting music and a good use of the theme. This could've been something really special if finished. Still, it's pretty impressive.
Awesome all around, amazingly polished, beautiful graphics and nice gameplay too. This is the best entry I have played so far.
One little thing I noticed: The sounds were pretty loud compared to the background music.
Very fun concept, good execution. In the end I just kept spamming shots, which isn't exactly how you're supposed to win I guess, but it was fun (ended with more than 200 shots fired). You should probably add some checkpoints to which you can go back if you used to many shots to emphazise the puzzle component. Good job overall!
Awesome metroidvania style game! I loved the polished graphics and effects as well as the pretty flawless gameplay. It glitched a little from time to time, but that didn't take away from the overall experience. I really enjoyed this one, even though I had to scroll up and down in my browser on some screens. Great job overall!
So depressing...
I really liked the music and the overall mood, good job!
Wow, that was really impressive. I pretty much loved everything about this game. The graphics are absolutely stunning, the music is just great and the writing (expect for some little typos) is excellent. The story and the characters were really interesting and kept me playing all the way to the end. Amazing job!
Absolutely solid gameplay, enjoyed this kinda puzzly platformer alot. Also gravity is a nice take on the theme. It took me a while to realize that you can aim in all directions and not just left and right, but maybe I just didn't read the tutorial texts carefully. I did like the simple graphics and sounds, but really missed some kind of background tune. One suggestion: Maybe add a droppable checkpoint to make big falls less punishing. Good job overall!
Now that was a fun little game! I liked the cute character graphics, the feeling of being a badass granny and how the others were beating at each other too. It was satisfying to just collect all their money after such thing had happened. :)
Good job overall!
Forget to mention: At the end of a stage, the console threw a few NullPointerExceptions, might wanna fix that. The second stage worked without problems nonetheless.
Nice adaption of the snake formula. Graphics, music, the frantic gameplay - it all melds together into an enjoyable whole. Good job!
Very fun game, I really enjoyed swinging that fish. The graphics are great. Dodging was a little hard sometimes, but overall very good job!
Very nice idea for controlling the movement of your character. It is pretty hard sometimes, but feels even more rewarding when succeeding. The visuals and audio are also very, very good. Overall, a great game, good job!
Wow, that was just breathtakingly atmospheric! The amazing visuals and soundscape create an unparalleled mood. When an enemy I hadn't noticed before suddenly ran towards me it really sent shivers down my spine. The gameplay itself is also very solid, but it sometimes felt like I should've hit an enemy but didn't. That's just a minor complaint though, overall this is really great and impressive.
As usual, your entry is really, really good. Gameplay is fun and easy to pick up, yet requires a little skill to stay up in the air longer. I died at level 9 and was like: "Oh please, don't make me start again from the beginning" and thankfully you didn't. :)
I really enjoyed the visual the style and the music was amazing. Overall, this is just an awesome game, good job!
This is extremely impressive, especially considering it was made within 7 hours. The idea is brilliant and the execution even better. I love the visual style and the music, together it creates a nice dark atmosphere. It's really an awesome game all around! The only thing I missed was some kind of story, the mood would've been perfect to tell a sad little tale about the very cute monster. (maybe there's something at the end? I didn't manage to beat the last level...)
Overall, one of the best games I played this LD, how you did all this within 7h is beyond me. :)
A pretty nice idea and well executed. Controlling those different tentacles was quite fun. As you already wrote, a mechanic to retract the tentacles would be nice, I ended up with most of my tentacles stuck to divers (due to my inability to time them correctly) and had to wait quite some time until they were available again.
The visuals are nice to look at and the music fitting. Overall, I enjoyed this game quite a bit, good job!
Great and original gameplay, just the right amount of difficulty, a really awesome game! Some music would've made it even better. Loved the little corpses being tossed into the air by the blades.
Great one! I really enjoyed the visuals, the contrast between the characters and the environment works very well. The gameplay was fluid and smooth, but it really was a bit too easy and monotonous, one can just stand there and keep the mouse button pressed and wait for the enemies to run into their deaths. If some of the enemies were shooting at you, this would've felt much more varied. The humor is very entertaining, but the speech bubbles are sometimes hard to read because they are moving and go away fast due to their owners dying really fast. :)
Please consider practicing a bit at sounds / music, it really ain't that hard to create some basic stuff and it would've turned a very good game into an amazing one. Great job overall, nonetheless!
Wow, the visuals are just amazing, well done Bia! :)
The idea for the game is also great, turning into a werewolve yourself and the villagers turning when they die, pretty damn cool. The gameplay is smooth, but I ended up with a little too many werewolves to handle by just using blocking, so I attacked and moved back a little when they attacked, which worked a little too well. Speaking of blocking: Please provide some alternative controls next time around, the combination of x and z on a qwertz keyboard layout is just painful.
One small thing I noticed: When scrolling the screen, the main characters sprite stuttered a little bit.
Overall, I enjoyed this game a whole lot, well done!
I really enjoyed playing this. The visual style is nice and clean, the music is fantastic and the world just feels alive. The explorative gameplay is also something I really like. The controls work pretty well, but there are also problems: Sometimes jumping when underneath something was a bit frustrating because the colliders show no mercy. Also, the camera was stuttering sometimes. Apart from these minor things, I just loved this game and I'm hoping to see it developed further.
A nice and pretty polished game. The visuals are good and the gameplay really solid. One thing that seemed a little random was how to lose a police car chasing you. At first it seemed like I have to make it bop into other cars, but that didn't work on other occasions (maybe a bug?). The tunnels were also a little mean, I could hear that I hit something in there, but couldn't see it. Also, I believe going into a tunnel with the police chasing you could be frustrating. Apart from these small things, I enjoyed playing this fast paced runner and could very well imagine this as a mobile game. Good job overall!
An interesting game, I would've loved to see how it plays out in the end. Unfortunately, due to the lack of savepoints combined with what seemed to be a pretty unfair collision detection I did not make it past the third level.
Pretty fun little game. The gameplay and level design could've been a little more varied, but the hilarious soundeffects made eating those poor adventurers enjoyable. Music was also pretty good.
Some vertical gameplay for example would've probably made it much better, in the current state of the game the ability to jump is pretty much useless. I imagine avoiding the light by jumping up somewhere and then striking down on adventurers. One small bug I noticed: If you haven't started the game and press Esc on the menu you get into the pause screen. If you continue from there on, you end up in an empty scene.
Overall, I enjoyed this, good job! And props for having an options menu with rebindable keys, something I rarely see in LD games.
Wow, that was amazing! Great visuals and gameplay. Those battles were a really nice change of pace. The humor was also great, probably the funniest game I played this LD. I really enjoyed this a lot, good job!
Your games are always awesome and this one is no exception. Very nice gameplay mechanics combined with beautiful visuals and good sounds and music make for simply a great game.
Wow, that is one impressive game! The visuals are stunning, the music and sounds great and the gameplay very fun and action packed. One of the best games of this LD for sure.
A really great game, as usual from you. :)
Graphics are top notch and the gameplay is one of the best I've seen this LD. The mechanics are just very clever and make you think about your next moves.
I could easily imagine this being build upon and released as a full game someday.
I do like the visual style of this game. Together with the soundscape it creates a nice mood. The gameplay was somehow confusing though, maybe because of bugs. At the beginning I was able to navigate to the thruster and gun and equip myself, all while a spaceship was clipping through the planet and shooting at me. After I killed that one, I flew through space and killed other ships, who were just flying there and doing nothing. The shooting was kinda stressful, because I had to click for every shot, being able to hold down the mouse button to shoot constantly would've been nice.
Overall, there is potential here, but unfortunately the bugs and/or unfinishedness of the game keep it from being a gratifying experience. I did enjoy the mood quite a bit though!
A very interesting game. The basic idea is great, the different challenges provide quite the variety and the visuals are beautiful. It's also quite funny. Good job overall!
This could be an interesting story, but I couldn't finish it because of a bug where after I switched screens I ended up being stuck in a fence. Before that, it was quite interesting and mysterious, but there were also more bugs. Too name a few: It was possible to walk across the walls of a room. Sometimes when clicking on an object the character could not walk there. What was most confusing though was the sudden change of screens. I had no idea if I triggered it or if it would happen after a while or once I had interacted with all objects. I did like the visual style and I'm curious about the story, so if you'd upload a bugfixed version let me know and I'd be glad to give it another go.
For a first time entry, this really is not bad. The controls work well, the graphics are okay and the sounds are just hilarious, especially when overlapping. The gameplay itself is little too straight forward, the special skills are not needed at all. Maybe with a little bit of level design this could become something really cool, like you eat some people and then are too fat to fit through a narrow gap and have to use the C skill or something like that to get them or become thinner temporarily.
Overall, I enjoyed it, good job!
Really interesting game. It took me quite some time to figure it out, but I guess that's part of its appeal. The mood created through the strange visuals and mysterious soundscape is great. Gameplay-wise it could be really interesting against another player, the AI was pretty easy to beat. Figuring out what is actually going on was fun though.
Overall, a very strange, but somehow beautiful and definitely interesting game.
I really suck at rhythm games, so I did not play it for too long, but it was fun nonetheless. I watched the walkthrough video to see how the game progresses and stage 3 looks totally badass. :)
Cool music, decent gameplay and nicely animated, good job overall!
I suck at Super Hexagon. :)
This game is, as you already mentioned, pretty similar. You managed to nail the visual style, it is gorgeous. The music and sounds are also really neat. Gameplay-wise it is a nice variation of Hexagon and just as hard, I barely made it to 30s. :)
Overall, it is a very enjoyable game, good job!
Hilarious, extremely polished, great voice acting, amazing visuals and great gameplay. I have no idea how you did all this within 72h, it's just impressive.
The visual style is just great! Music is pretty awesome too. Everything seems really polished. The gameplay reminds me of rhythm games, but without the need to be in time. It works well, but there could be some more variety other than just pressing the arrow keys and sometimes space. Maybe even something small to mix things up, like having to press two buttons at the same time every now and then could improve the gameplay.
Overall, I enjoyed this a lot nonetheless, good job!
This is a solid foundation for a game, nothing more but also nothing less. In the current state, it's not too much fun, because you basically just walk around and keep space pressed in front of houses. The only other interaction, which is avoiding the knights, has some potential, in that you have to try to keep away from those while destroying everything else, but it's also problematic, since often they spawn and immediately hit you and you can't do anything about it. Overall, this could be interesting if developed further, maybe with different enemy types, some that shoot at you or some whose line of sight you have to avoid in a stealth game kind of way. The progression through gaining exp and thus increasing your damage was nice.
Very funny interpretation of the theme and you made a fun game from the idea. The graphics are great and almost photorealistic. :)
The gameplay is alright, sometimes a little tedious. The stun never ever worked for me. There were also a few minor bugs, like the log not formatting correctly and displaying markup or the first aid changing the bar but not the numeric value of health. Apart from that, the progression felt nice, in the beginning there were some close fights and in the end my chars were unbeatable, just like it should be.
Overall, I enjoyed this a lot, especially the humor (that end screen ^^), good job!
A really original game, telling the story through typing gameplay is something I have not seen before. The voice acting was cool and I dig the visual style. The combat part caught me by surprise though and it was kinda hard for me to focus on both things, the typing and the combat. Overall though, a really nice game!
Wow, this is a really good game! I enjoyed the mechanics quite a lot, a nice mixture of puzzle and timing. It would've been nice to be able to jump back to previously set birds. Also, the meteors were kinda hard, especially on the level they first occured. After that it got better, because the timing was somehow more predictable. I made it to the final level, but couldn't figure out how to beat the bird monster. The boss level itself however offered a very nice, challenging gameplay experience. Graphics and audio are also really good. Overall, I liked it very much, good job!
Really cool to see a game made in Blender! As for the game itself: The idea is a nice one, but the execution is a little rough around the edges. On first start I couldn't understand the voice acting because it was too quiet so I turned up the volume and then after the intro the music was very loud. The gameplay really is pretty hard, that bait just moves soooo fast. On the other hand, if it wouldn't, the game would be too easy. Some small bugs I noticed: When you go off screen, you will most likely never find your way back. You lost anyway, so it would be nice to have the level restart automatically. Also, there was a little clipping through the floor. Overall though, I enjoyed it, mostly because of the difficulty. Good job!
A pretty nice game! The limited space and the moving bad thoughts made what appeared very simple quite challenging. The visuals and audio are obviously not the best, but are very okay for a first timer. Good job overall!
A very nice take on minigolf. I love the atmosphere, the smooth and beautiful visuals and especially the music. A great game overall!
I just can't click fast enough for this game! :)
Managed to make it to round 3, but then I just couldn't click fast enough to make the bar go up. With an autoclicker it's quite doable though. ^^
The visuals and audio are really nice and make the whole thing pretty hilarious. Good job overall!
A fun game this is. The graphics are pretty simple, but the music is really nice. The gameplay was very enjoyable, though it would've been cool to have some more enemy types. Controls work well, but I had somehow expected that the advanced engine would enable you to thrust backwards, which unfortunately it didn't. I stopped playing at around 12k points, because the way to the next unlock at 20k seemed to be taking pretty long. The unlock mechanics and the different weapons are a very nice progression. A very nice game overall, good job!
Very awesome game! Love the visual style, the music and sound effects and the humor. The gameplay is very interesting and works well, at the end I only had my lasers left, slowly losing more and more systems was great. Really the only complaint I have about this one: Using z and x together on a qwertz layout keyboard is just painful, please provide alternative inputs next time.
Very interesting gameplay mechanics as well as nice visuals and audio, except for the sound she makes when eating, this one is kinda horrible. :)
Overall, I enjoyed this a lot, good job!
The intro is really, really funny, great voice acting too! The gameplay unfortunately didn't really work for me or maybe I just couldn't figure out how to do it right. I feasted on one or two without a hunter being present on screen and then they started shooting at me from off screen. I escaped to the roofs, but when I came back down to have another feast there were still hunters shooting from off screen, which was pretty frustrating.
Thanks to the humor though I enjoyed this nontheless.
Quite an awesome game! The gameplay mechanic with the light as both health and power multiplier is kinda genius. The visuals are very beautiful and polished and the platforming works well too. Overall, I enjoyed this whole lot, good job!
A few things that could be improved:
The first and final boss had a little too much HP for my taste.
Please consider adding some alternative controls, using z and x together on a qwertz layout keyboard is very painful.
Obviously, some music would've been nice.
Wow, that was quite impressive. The visuals are just beautiful, very nice style. The audio fits this well and together with the very sad and well written story it really sets the mood. Gameplay was solid, a little slow, but it fit the rest of the game well. I felt like I could've maybe saved at least one of the little ones by being a bit more careful when running into the village and protecting them with my own body, maybe I'll try again later. One small bug I noticed: At the bottom of the screen, the sprites of the trees disappear before they're out of sight.
Overall, I enjoyed this sad little story quite a bit.
A simple but very nice game. I do enjoy the visuals and the background sounds are not that bad at all. :)
Overall, a fun little game, good job!
A masterpiece of mood! The visuals are stunning and the story together with the haunting soundscape creates a dense atmospheric experience. Just amazing and fascinating!
This is fun little game. I really like the visual style, together with the very well fitting music and sounds it creates a nice comedic feeling. How to play the game was a little tricky to figure out, a tutorial would've been very helpful. Once I got how play to play, it was really fun to try to position the actors in front of the cameras. I mainly used the scream, because the other two disappeared a little too quick and the chilling field seemed to not be working properly sometimes. Overall, this is really nice game, good job!
It's just great! Beautiful visuals and amazing music, I love it!
A great little game this is! The difficulty felt just right, I don't think it's that hard. :)
I enjoyed the visuals quite a bit, very oldschool but charming and the effects like the overlay and the rotation when holes open up are great.
The sound effects are nice, but I really miss some kind of retro soundtrack going along, it would've made the experience even better.
Overall, I enjoyed it a lot!
Pretty cool game! I do like the art style and the gameplay mechanics. The controls feel really good and immediate. The locking mechanic is cool, but due to the time needed to lock on to an enemy from afar I found myself mostly just moving close to the enemies and killing them by simply pressing space. I could imagine though that with a little more work this mechanic could feel amazing, hovering through the air, locking on to enemies and then striking down on them. Maybe some time slowing could do the trick.
One small complaint: The font was a little hard to read in the controls menu. Oh, and some music would've been great.
Overall, I enjoyed this game a lot, good job!
Well, the interpretation of the theme is very original. I was very amused at the beginning. Unfortunately the gameplay is rather boring. Some things that bothered me: It would've been nice if one could just clean while moving, having to stand still everytime really slowed everything down. Also, when scrolling up, the game seemed really laggy. Well, and I was really hoping that the shifts would change something gameplay-wise, which unfortunately didn't happen.
I still played until I got rank General, not sure why, maybe due to the slow gameplay it was kind of a meditative experience. :)
Really nice game. I enjoyed the overall gameplay, though I wished it was more...how do I put this..action-like? The movement felt a little slow, which is probably necessary to overcome the obstacles, but I believe it would've felt better and more satisfying if it all was more immediate and less draggy. That's just my ten cents though, it's a really nice, relaxing puzzle-like experience how it is. Good job overall!
Looks great, plays great, has quite a bit of content. I love this game, it's pretty damn amazing!
I really enjoyed this one. The gameplay reminded me of Lemmings and worked very well. The graphics are nice, as is the music. The replay button is very handy, but I was a little sad when on one level everyone died and I did not have the option to restart the level but had to begin from the beginning again. A speed up button would've been nice, but just watching is pretty entertaining too. Good job overall!
Idle games, my Achilles' heel... This is a pretty simple one, but I enjoyed it nontheless. I really liked the cartoony visuals and the progression felt alright. The puns are pretty hit and miss, some are funny and others are pretty meh. The fryed egg put a big grin on my face. :)
Good job overall!
An enjoyable endless runner with really nice graphics. The shapeshifting mechanic felt just right, good job on that one!
It felt like the game produced some unfair situations which one could not come by. Also, it would've been nice if the character ran back to the starting position after getting pushed back a little, would've made the runs a little longer probably.
Good job overall!
That kitty is so adorable! I love the animation and the gameplay idea could've resulted in something really awesome if only you'd have had more time and less problems with the collisions. Next time I expect great things from you! :)
Oh, and one thing that really bothers me: Where in this game is the stift that gucks?
(Also, not a single meow was heard that day...)
Really enjoyed this one, the pixel art and the music are just amazing! The gameplay is really solid and fun, but the high difficulty can be quite frustrating. If the hitboxes of the enemies were just a tiny bit smaller it would be more enjoyable I think. The ending was a little abrupt, I was hoping for an encounter with Zanakalth and the game just shut down after talking to the owl.
Anyway, great job overall!
I really suck at this game. :)
The idea is nice and very well executed. It reminds me strongly of a flash game I played once, but can't remember the name of it. The graphics are beautiful to look at and the music and sounds are great.
I noticed that it is possible to just keep the D key pressed at all time and thus eliminate one of the tasks completely, still my score went downhill constantly, not sure if this happened due to my "cheating" or because I missed the other three constantly. :)
Anyway, it was a fun experience, great job overall!
Wow, that was really good! The graphics are beautiful and the portaling mechanic came as a very nice surprise. It was a bit tricky to use though, since entering a portal you usually don't exit in the direction you needed to. The platforming feels a little rough around the edges and could use a little smoothing, but it gets the job done.
I also like the music and sounds quite a bit, great job overall!
Really good game, I enjoyed my time with it. I like the graphics, though some animations would've improved on these quite a lot. The music is very nice and ambient and together with the soothing gameplay it creates quite the experience.
After a while it got a bit boring though, but I was hoping there would be some surprises still in store or an end, but I was just overrun. Some more variety would have been nice, like enemies starting at different y positions or flying enemies. I think you got something here that can be built upon, great job overall!
A short but decent game. It looks really nice. The movement feels kinda draggy, I prefer platformers with little or no drag, but that's probably personal preference. The dash was very cool though, I do love dash mechanics in every game I come across that has them. Good job overall!
A nice little puzzle game, there were two things that really puzzled me though: One was that it was always very, very easy to get to the exit until a certain stage where I did not know how to win (the one with all the enmies lines up behind locks).
Graphics are obviously pretty simple, but I like seeing something like this way more than the thousandth game with geometric shapes :)
Good job overall!
Really nice and clean graphics. The gameplay was alright and varied enough, but I just don't like things like pressing a button as fast as possible, the other "minigames" were good though. The music was alright, but got repetitive quite fast.
I really wanted to make it to day 5 to see how it ends, but on day 4 I was attacked while cooking it up and could not duck, so I died :(
Overall, I enjoyed this despite its flaws, good job! And really impressive for a first compo!
Quite a fun little game and a good use of the theme, I enjoyed it!
I have never seen refreshing a page as a gameplay mechanic, pretty damn innovative! Apart from that, it was a nice little point and click experience, good job overall!
Hey bro! I really like what you created this time around, it's a very relaxing game with great graphics and amazing audio! Also, the take on the theme is very creative. The game does slow down substantially though the longer you play, so you might want to look into that again.
Anyway, it's an awesome game and I had a great time jamming with you and Maria. Looking forward to the next LD together with you beautiful people! :)
A good entry with nice graphics and audio. The mechanics of keeping several stats at balance are quite interesting, but it was not really clear how the actions affect the game, i.e. clicking the trees made happiness go down despite the help stating that it would go up and also oxygen did not increase. It is a nice take on the theme though, good job overall!
Thank you all for your feedback! It's really heartwarming to read all these beautiful comments :)
I was aware that the controls are quite floaty, but it seems to be even worse than I thought. I did not put enough care into the gameplay itself because I wanted to focus more on narrative and mood. Thats a lesson to be learned: Even if focusing on something else, never neglect the gameplay mechanics.
The game has two possible endings indeed, as some of you have noticed. It's basically not complete without the second ending, so I added a hint on the game page.
@cerno-b: Great idea not letting the player die immediately when touching the water. I wish I had come up with that idea during the jam :) And the "enemies" are not really aggressive from the beginning, they only become enraged once one of them has died. Before that, they are actually quite friendly and cuddly :)
@batmanasb: Thank you so much! I had actually planned to make the sister give the player a choice whether she wants to keep killing or surrender and be more or less forgiven (it would probably have ended in some kind of awkward tolerance with the player being outside society and avoided by the others), but those jams with their time constraints, right? :)
Really amazing! The mechanic is so great and fun, I played for quite a while (though the outcome of an enemy turn seems kinda random). Also diggin' the visuals and music.
I could very well see this being developed further. Add a few more obstacles, enemy types, power-ups etc. and you'll end up with an awesome full game. Cheers!
A very basic game, but it has an interesting premise with only being able to see enemies when aiming in their direction. The game plays nicely, but the fun quickly wears off because of too little variations in the gameplay. I could see this mechanic developed further though.
What a lovely little game! The visuals as well as the audio are obviously fantastic. The gameplay mechanics are indeed relaxing and fun, but it was also a very easy game. Overall, it was an amazing experience and I'd love to see a bigger game with this audiovisual style and those light puzzle mechanics. Simply amazing!
Nice game! I like the cute graphics. Gameplay is entertaining, but I felt like I ran out of sugar too fast. Some music would've been the sugar on the tooth. :) Possible improvements would be some more obstacles like enemies that work against you. Good job overall!
Absolutely fantastic and very impressive for a compo entry. The visuals are great, the audio is subtle and creates a nice mood and it was a lot of fun figuring out the bosses. Also pretty nailbiting stuff. Overall top marks from me, amazing!
The game has potential, but in its current state it is rather frustrating. I tried several times and all I was able to do was waiting to get slaughtered. Not sure if it was just bad luck or if I missed something (where are the upgrades?), but I never had enough resources to really do anything. It seems like it could be more fun later on, but I just couldn't manage to get there. I would like to see a more devloped version of this game, because I'm sure I'd really enjoy it.
This is amazing! Great little adventure game with lovely visuals and audio. The gameplay is also highly enjoyable. I can't find anything to criticise (which is rare, believe me ^^), it's pretty much perfect for what it is and really impressive for a compo entry. Well maybe one tiny thing: If in the house, it would probably be nice if time passed faster, because on my first try I did not really know what to do (only found the shovel on my second try) and there were so many monsters that I could not get very far (I had not noticed yet that light killed them) and I just ran into a monster to see what happens. :)
A pretty great game that is just way too hard. I could not get past the room with the moving platforms and spikes all over the ground. I tried again and again but got too frustrated. This is partly due to the controls, it's for example extremely hard to jump off the disappearing blocks. Wall jumping is also kinda tricky. I guess you were aiming for a super hard game and you succeeded, but it's certainly not for everyone. The dark atmosphere the game creates is stellar though, so I still enjoyed it quite a lot. Good job overall!
Fun little game that reminds me of good old Osmos. Controls, graphics and audio are all well done. The only minor flaw is the camera movement that takes some time to get used to but is also quite interesting. Good job overall!
Very nice, clean art style, simple but fun mechanics and top-notch audio. I really enjoyed this game, but it would've been nice if it had an actual ending (which I'm sure would've been hilarious). I for one am feeling quite chill after slashing through all these innocent people :)
A really nice game. The art looks great and together with the smooth music it creates a very relaxing mood. I was not sure how the carnivore would behave, which made survival pretty tricky. But I guess it is meant to end sooner or later, as is all life... Good job overall and a great use of the theme!
Wow, really amazing! Nice fake MMORPG with great graphics and audio, also the storyline is hilarious and it's a good take on the theme. Just awesome all around and very impressive for a jam game!
Pretty cool game with a great take on the theme. The visuals are obviously minimalistic, but they work well. The movement is a little headache inducing due to the sheer speed of the tile based movement, but it is fun and challenging. The core gameplay mechanic is very clever and I enjoyed it a lot. One thing that was really confusing at first was that you die very quickly when not starting to move, but it's also kinda funny. Good job overall!
At first I was like: Well, this is pretty mediocre, let's move on to another game. But I kept playing for a bit and it got much better and the gameplay mechanics truly came to fruition. It became more bullet-hell-y and intense and I really loved the fact that you can choose your playstyle with the weapons. I chose Instagib :) Also, the obstacles give it some kind of tactical feel. I enjoyed this way more than I initially thought I would, good job overall!
Really a great game, I enjoyed it a lot! The graphics and music are very good, as are the gameplay mechanics. The LD theme mentions add a nice touch. There are a few things though that left me a bit frustrated: The hitbox for the ghost form is ridiculously big compared to the sprite size. I sometimes died to blocks miles away :) The cat movement is very draggy, for most jumps I just switched to the ghost form. And lastly: That gap on the right just before the end. I mean, you can't really fall down there by mistake, so I thought there might be a secret there. And I jumped in. And nothing happened. And I had to restart the whole game due to the lack of a reset button. I mean rushing through all of it again was fun, don't get me wrong, but I was sooo hoping for a reward for being a fool :) Despite all the critique: This was one of the finest games I played this LD, great job overall!
Nice game! The mechanics have a lot of potential, but in it's current state the game is a little too easy. The bullet hell aspect is barely noticeable because the ways are so short. Movement felt really good though and the graphics look pretty nice. Good job overall!
Hey Sarah, great first LD entry you made there! The gameplay mechanic feels good, almost like being a shepherd. This mechanic could be extended upon easily, probably resulting in a very interesting game. The lack of a proper goal dragged the whole experience down a bit though, it would've been nice to have different levels / map layouts and if you beat one level you advance to the next, which has a higher difficulty, because like James said, it is very easy to keep the enemies away.
Also, the game seemed to run rather slow, not sure if this is due to framerate or if everything just has a low move speed. Apart from that, I did not notice any bugs and the game felt well programmed.
Even if very short on time, it's always a good idea to add some basic audio, because this increases the feel of the game tremendously. Tools like bfxr allow for quick sound effect generation and there are also tools out there to make some simple music quickly.
Good job overall though! Looking forward to your next entry :)
A solid foundation for an incremental game, but it needs more mechanics to really be fun. In the current state, one can just click on adventure endlessly until enough ressources are gathered and win the game. Incremental games draw their fascination from surprises (and exponential growth, but let's leave that aside for now :) ) and those don't exist in this game yet. The buildings could have some unexpected effect for example. The graphics are quite nice though and with more gameplay elements I could see this becoming a good game, keep it up!
Pretty nice game, but unfortunately I was not able to finish because right before the end the following error appeared:
harker, Line 80: Cannot read property 'position' of null
Apart from that I enjoyed it, the sounds are especially cute. I'm not sure what all the pickups mean, I believe this would've been clarified in the end. It would also be nice to shoot repeatedly just by holding down the mouse button, clicking again and again (with the high delay before actually shooting) felt a little weird. Good job overall! Let me know if you fix the error, I'm really curious to see the end :)
What an adorable little game! Cute art style and especially sound effects. The music stopped when I started the game and never returned, which is a bit unfortunate. Also, the controls were a little weird. I tried to get water from the fountain in front of it at first, not realizing that it only workd on the right side. And I tried to harvest food with the space button and only two deaths later (I thought maybe the food was not big enough yet) realized that the down arrow was responsible for that. I kept playing for a bit though and really enjoyed my time with the game, good job overall!
Really cool idea and the game plays very well, though it felt a bit unfair at times (I was once hit by a freshly spawned platform right in the face). It would've also been nice if it wasn't completely random but would get more difficult as time passes by (which it inherently does due to more platforms existing, but you know what I mean). Had a lot of fun though and I could imagine this becoming a great game if you take the idea further.
Really cute game with nice gameplay. It simulates the life of a bee quite well :) The ending was devastating, but also a great surprise. Good job overall!
Insanely cute / adorable game, I laughed so hard at some points and especially at the outro. Visuals and audio are very well done, and although the gameplay itself leaves a lot to be desired I had an awesome time playing. Great job overall!
Great idea and execution! The gameplay is very challenging and fun, though it was still hard for me to grasp how many points I would get even after playing for a while. I could very well see this be turned into a full puzzle game. I was just missing some relaxing background music, but apart from that good job overall!
I tried to cure Bessie, but even after a score of 1k there was no relief in sight :) A simple but funny game. It would've been nice to see an ending (maybe I was just not patient enough). Also, after a while suddenly my shoot rate went down, no idea why that happened. Apart from that I enjoyed it, congratulations on finishing this humorous game!
Btw you might wanna fix that url, it is missing a : after http.
A great and very polished entry with awesome graphics and varied gameplay, I enjoyed it a lot!
A cute and relaxing little game with adorable visuals and sounds. Not much in terms of gameplay, could potentially easily be extended with smaller, further away planets that you have to aim a little to hit. I enjoyed it, good job overall! (btw the score count or whatever it is at the bottom did not increment)
Great and funny platformer that even plays well. The visuals and audio are also not too shabby. Some of the rows of spikes were a little annoying to overcome, particularly the ones where you had to double jump and then wait till you reach the correct height while floating. But it is an interesting concept of movement and overall well executed. Also, very nice of you to let the player keep their collected power-ups. :) Overall, I einjoyed this a lot, good job!
Really cool mechanical interpretation of the theme! The graphics are kinda basic, as is the platforming (which is also a bit draggy), but it gets the job done. The idea of starting out overpowered and losing said powers as you progress is awesome. Unfortunately I wasn't able to beat the third boss and due to the lack of savepoints did not want to start all over again. Overall though, I really enjoyed this game, good job! PS: Thank you so much for not using the z key for controls! :)
A very basic, but enjoyable game. I really like the visual style a lot. The dash mechanic feels good due to the visual reinforcement. The fighting does not work too well yet, because it often felt like I did not hit the enemies who were right in front of me. Also, enemies stacking on top of each other are rather problematic. I second the suggestion of mat4dor to make the switching lights a part of the game mechanic, that would've been interesting. Good job overall!
A very nice looking endless flyer. The mechanics are solid, especially choosing between flying through the sun and hitting a rock makes for an interesting choice. Unfortunately it was often just impossible to dodge the rocks at all, might wanna work on the spawn mechanic a little more. Apart from that of course some audio would've improved the game a lot. I do like the premise of it a lot though, good job overall!
This is pretty damn amazing! The graphics are very polished and the music is great. The mechanics are also well fleshed out, entertaining and nailbiting. Kinda reminds me of FTL a lot. The one problem with this game is that the random factor is just way to high. Sometimes you lose 4 crew members in one event, some other times the enemy ships are too strong and sometimes you're lucky. My strategy was to put all crew members into cooking on easy routes and hope for the best and after several tries I beat the game. Could very well see this extended into a full game if there was more meaningful decision making and less randomness. Overall though, I played this for quite some time and enjoyed it all the way, great job!
Wow, what an awesome idea! Played it cooperatively and it was just a whole lot of fun. The only minor disturbance was that it felt a little a little buggy to connect to the other player, sometimes I could not understand why the connection was lost or not established. Overall though, we enjoyed this a whole lot and could very well see the idea extended (hehe) further. Great game overall!
Really cool game! In the beginning it seemed like it would be a bit slow, but well, that escalated quickly! Really great gameplay feeling cutting wires to connect new nodes under such time pressure. Some music and maybe a few effects would've been nice as well as something like an ending when you connected all remaining nodes. Still, an awesome experience, good job!
Pretty cool puzzle game with a little crude graphics but cute animations. The gameplay is rock solid and the levels are well designed. Played this with my girlfriend watching and she said she'd totally play this on mobile until she beat every last level, so you might wanna consider further development. :) Great job overall!
Less of a game, but more of a rhythmic experience, and a great one at that. Nice minimalistic presentation and awesome audio! Don't really know what else to say, enjoyed it quite a bit, good job overall!
Pretty intense game! The idea is great and the mechanics work very well. The graphics, though basic, give the game a very creepy feel, especially the little monsters. In the third level I just dropped the batteries on the ground and borderline panicked when the second one was not where I left it (really cool mechanic! and thankfully I found it in a lit corner). With some audio this could easily have been top notch in terms of atmosphere, but it's still very good. Really enjoyed this one, good job!
Really interesting mechanic you came up with that could easily be extended upon. You are right, the game is rather barebones, but it is sufficient as a tech demo and actually already quite fun in this state. I'd very much like to see this idea fully realized, good job!
Nice and fun little endless runner. The visuals and audio are quite nice and the mechanics work well, but could use a little more variation to keep things interesting. I felt like I never really used to crouch mechanic. Overall, I enjoyed playing this game, good job!
Great game, buddy! I even managed to beat it after a lot of tries (really dude, checkpoints ^^). The ending is just adorable, love it! The movement takes quite some time to get used to and still remains difficult due to the gliding, but it's also part of the fun. Otherwise the mechanics work quite well. The graphics are really cute and the sound effects are funny and awesome, especially the seals. :) Too bad you didn't have enough time to make some music, I know it would've been amazing. Overall, I had a blast (and some moments of utter frustration, but in a good way) playing it, great job! And jamming together with you was also amazing, looking forward to the next one!
Hey Sarah, nice game you made there! The assets you chose look good and the music fits the game nicely (although, like jhandsy mentioned, it doesn't loop). The mechanics are very basic but work well and could easily be extended upon. Speaking of which: The game was a little on the very easy side. I wish there were a little more enemies and overall a faster pace. Or maybe some tactical options like walls to hind behind? Anyway, good job overall and I'm curious to hear what story you got in your mind for this game (maybe write it down in the description?). One more thing: The ending was a bit disappointing. The door opened, but I wasn't able to go through. Bug or just missing content? :)
An interesting game. The graphics look nice, good job there. The game mechanics are really interesting, but also quite hard. The thing that will probably turn a lot of people away is the lack of a description of the controls. Nothing to find ingame (btw I found no way to return from the tutorial with the keyboard) and in the description you only state the ones for the keyboard. It took me quite some time to figure out what to do, but once I did it was quite fun, though also very brain twisting. Overall, an interesting, good looking, but also quite inaccessible game. Good job!
Pretty awesome and creative core mechanic! The indirectness of it all is great and really makes you aim in advance. Plus you have to remember where the lightnings will strike. A very neat idea indeed. The visuals and audio are also quite good. The only thing this is missing to greatness is something like a long term goal. Overall though, I enjoyed this quite a bit, good job!
Pretty damn cool game! It took me quite a while to get the mechanics, but once I did, it was really fun. Visuals and audio are also very nice. I managed to get to the end by the 5th or so try, but with 0% cargo remaining. :) I kinda thought that the big buildings along the way would let you get new coal, but I think they didn't or maybe I did not get how to do it. Anyway, really enjoyed this one, good job!
A nice little tower defense game. The graphics and sounds are quite basic, but fit the game well. Same could be said about the mechanics, but due to the sheer size it felt quite nice, almost epic. :) Obvious improvements would be, as you already stated, some more types of units and enemies as well as upgrades. I have to admit that I generally don't like games with the premise of inevitable demise. But I did like this one, so good job overall!
Really good puzzle platformer! The graphics work well for the game and the mechanics are pretty damn clever. The best feeling you get from this is when you just run out of power, are still going and have to hope that everything will go well further down the road (and it does ^^). The sound effects sometimes gave me a bit of a heart attack and the jumping on slopes is kinda broken but also quite fun. Really enjoyed this one, good job!
Hey bro! Excellent demo level you made there. The mechanic is really brain teasing and this level shows it. I needed several attempts to get it right. I could easily see this being realized into a full game, you'd just have to design 50 levels. :) It could also be extended into several directions. Say you wanted it to be a full puzzle game, then tile based movement would be a good idea to get rid of potentially necessary pixel perfect movement. Or you could develop it into a more action oriented direction, giving the player the ability for a short speed boost. This could also be applied to the tile based approach, making maybe one move on the tilemap cost no energy. Also you could add extra hard to get collectibles into the levels (think bandages in SMB). Overall, I really enjoyed it and see a lot of potential, great job!
Really cool idea and good execution. The visuals are very nice (especially the cute little eyes in the dark) and create a chilling mood. The gameplay is also highly enjoyable and quite nailbiting. The only thing that annoyed me are the controls, which are kinda floaty, especially while jumping, which caused me to die more often than necessary. Good job overall!
A very hectic but fun game. The visuals and sound are very good. The gameplay mechanics are an interesting combination, but a little overwhelming. It was really hard to hit the numbers with so many items dropping. Still, the whole hectic gameplay experience has a lot going for it. I'd suggest a less steep difficulty curve, i.e. making few items drop over quite some time in the beginning to get used to the gameplay. Overall, good job and congrats on your first LD entry!
Wow, that's a really good game! The basic stealth mechanic works well enough, but what I liked even more are the visuals and audio and especially the whole premise of the game. Playing as death and avoiding killing just to get the paperwork done is just hilarious and probably even profound. :) Love it, great job overall!
Nice and fun little game with simple but effective visuals and a well working mechanic. Seems like it was aimed for mobile, I'd suggest trying landscape instead of portrait, could result in more planning ahead and maybe even more tension because you see the lava from further away.
Nice idea and very well executed! I really like the gameplay mechanics and the sounds. The only thing that bugged me was that health was carried over from one level to another, would've been less frustrating (and maybe more nailbiting) if the amount of damage taken was designed for each level individually and you'd be fully replenished at the start of each level
I'd also agree with everything alexv said. The game is great and has a very cool feel to it and the bouncing mechanic is just a hell lot of fun. Though the slowing down mechanic seems slapped on top it could be developed into an interesting direction, because if you have to fire bullets constantly you also endanger yourself, but the downside of having many bullets is just not really punishing at the moment (maybe just make the player explode at more than 4 bullets, that could turn the game into a real adrenaline rush but would also pretty much eliminate the tactical element...)
Hey Sarah, finally got around to playing game :) It's an interesting one. As other comments have stated, the possibilities to interact are quite limited. What you got here is more of a solid foundation that you could take into different directions. Do you want a more classic tower defense game? Add some more tower and enemy types, upgrades, different routes etc. You could also have a focus on the player character and give him more interactions. Like I was wondering about the fireplace, maybe there could be nightfall and then you have to light the fire, or he could have a direct attack or and aura that boosts towers or something. You could even take this into a more narrative direction. While playing I thought of the character as the bad guy. He has all the money and hoards it and the thieves desparately need it to feed their families but get killed...
Anyway, it's a solid game as it is already and I really like the voxel art! Good job, especially considering the small amount of time you had.
An interesting puzzle game concept and quite well executed. The presentation is nice, good visuals and music. I did not really get what the birds were supposed to do, I thought they might be there to steal my money but they didn't seem to do that. The puzzles themselves have a good learning curve, but I didn't get how the purple plate was supposed to work, still managed to make it into what I think is the final area of the game, but there was no proper end. Overall though, I enjoyed this game, good job!
An entertaining game with a good presentation. Visuals, audio and the controls are all very nice. Unfortunately there is not enough variety to continue playing for longer (I got bored around 25k points). If you want to continue development, the next steps would be more enemy types, upgrades and some bosses. Nonetheless I enjoyed this a lot, good job!
Physics. They can be tricky, but also awesome. In this game, they are both. :) The controls often feel weird and incomprehensible, but sometimes this leads to very entertaining situations. (other times it's just frustrating though...) I often didn't know what I was doing, but I still had a lot of fun. Also the visuals are quite nice, especially the cutscenes. Good job overall!
A nice little game, I enjoyed it, but there is quite some room for improvement.
At first I didn't get that you could even aim :) (but thought this was quite interesting tbh, moving into a position from where you were even able to hit the enemies). Speaking of which: As I experienced it, there was no real reason to even fight the enemies, as you could just walk into the next room. Maybe add a door that only vanishes when all are defeated or a chest as a reward. The enemies bullets were also a little too fast for my taste.
The chest rewards were a little unclear, a visual indicator would be nice. Also I never noticed anything bad happening.
Overall though, it is a good game and a solid foundation for further development, good job!
Really cool idea and well executed, I had a lot of fun playing it! Some possible improvements would be a run or dash (movement felt a little slow) and not having to press a button for each shot fired, but rather being able to hold down a button to continue firing in that direction. Good job overall!
If only I'd known ealier that cleaning can be that fun... Anyway, this is an entertaining game, the mechanics work well and on later levels it feels a bit like a puzzle game (although a random one that I think you can only lose at some point). If that random element could be removed you could really be on to something.
Pretty neat game! I enjoyed the mechanics quite a bit. At my first try I got overwhelmed really fast. Second try felt like easy going until the last 30 seconds, where I got overwhelmed again and died in like the last second! The game could maybe use a little more balancing, if you spot and close the portals fast enough it is quite easy, but if one stays open longer it quickly becomes impossible. I guess that means you nailed the theme quite well :) I still would've preferred not having to stand still while closing portals, I think this might've felt quite awesome. Also the movement speed feels painfully slow when there is a lot happening, some run/dash mechanic could've helped there. The visuals are very nice and the music you chose is really fitting. Good job overall!
Very awesome atmospheric game! The visuals and audio are superb and create a dense, dark mood. There's not that much gameplay, but the exploration aspect is a very nice touch. The movement sometimes felt a little choppy, but walking on water was awesome. The game reminds me of Far: Lone sails, which seems to have inspired you quite a bit, but in the best way possible. :) Overall, I enjoyed this a lot, great job!
Quite the simple game, but it is nice for what it is. The controls work really well. It's a little bit on the easy side, sometimes I waited for quite some time until the next obstacle came my way, but this is just parameters needing some finetuning. Some more gameplay elements or a final goal would've been nice. Still, I enjoyed playing, good job!
Nice little game that was quite fun and funny for a little while. Some more minigames would've been cool and the dragging didn't always seem to work that well, but apart from that I enjoyed this, good job!
Very interesting and mesmerizing art style. The mechanics are also pretty cool (especially the jet boost), but could use some polish, because sometimes the movement feels quite frustrating (getting stuck at walls for example). The step sounds are kinda annoying, might wanna tune those down a bit. It would've been great to respawn at the last portal and not at the very beginning. Overall though, this was fun and a trip worth taking, good job!
Hey Sarah! I really love the concept of your game, it's kind of a reverse idle game, which I think I've never seen before. The execution is really solid, but could use a little more work. There was just not a lot to do, and especially in the end, once all upgrades had been purchased, it got a little grindy. The visuals are nice, some sounds and music would've been great. After winning I restarted and wanted to see if the character really turns to gold when losing, but that would've probably been too much work. :) Overall, I enjoyed this and I think the concept is worth examining deeper, good job!
Very fun and super hectic game, the ads are so annoying and great, art style is also pretty neat in all of its glorious crudeness. Really enjoyed this one, good job!
Quite the unusual game you made there, it seems really abstract, which is reinforced through the visuals and audio. I like the theme of pollution a lot (used it too ^^) and the game creates a pretty unique mood. The mechanics actually work quite well, dashing feels really awesome, but could still use a little polish. The story bits went by really fast, so I'm not quite sure what to make of it. :) Overall, I enjoyed playing this and it's an interesting one, good job!
Really nice and polished game! The movement works very well, just the platforms could've been a little bigger, I slipped off them quite often. The art style is really beautifully minimalistic and the music is great! It sets up quite the dark mood, some more narrative context could've reinforced this even further. Enjoyed this a lot, good job!
Like others have stated, the game is a little broken concerning the UI and controls, but playing with the arrow keys is fine. Once you get used to it, it's actually pretty fun and challenging. The visuals are obviously more on the simple side, but they get the job done. Could really be a neat multiplayer game, or even singleplayer if you introduce some more gameplay elements.
Really nice minimalistic game! Although the visuals are very simple, the game looks kinda great. Together with the few sounds, this creates a nice mood. I usually don't like the control scheme you used and am really bad at it, but I'd say you implemented those quite well and it felt good. Some ingame story, music and a proper ending would've been really nice, but I enjoyed this quite a bit nonetheless, good job!
Really neat concept and interpretation of the theme! It reminds me of the all too real problem of green areas inside the city being sold to investors and such... The execution unfortunately just lacks a bit of polish, which makes it a little hard to play. It would've been great to be able to plant on several tiles right after each other and not having to go to the shop each time. Also, the cam movement is a little weird, because it doesn't move diagonally. The visuals on the other hand I like a lot. Overall, I enjoyed this one, good job! PS: The itch.io link doesn't work at the moment.
Very solid game all around! Visuals are quite nice and the controls work without any issues. The expanders seem a bit expensive, on the second map I could only afford one of them. And more maps would've been great too. Overall, an enjoyable game and a great foundation to build upon, good job!
Very original idea and nice use of the theme. The mechanics work really well and it is a pleasure to put together those meals with the restricted table space. The visuals and music are also great and really set the mood of being in a restaurant. The game is just a really nice package overall and seems pretty polished. Good job overall!
Really nice game! The controls felt quite good in an oldschool kinda way. The visual style is awesome, also great that you managed to get some intro screens done. The theme is not very present though, I only saw the ceiling coming down in one short passage in the second room. The death mechanic is a bit buggy, like others have described, which is kinda annoying. Music is nice, but very quiet. Overall, I enjoyed this quite a bit and would love to see it developed further, good job!
Congratulations on finishing your first jam! The game is actually not bad at all. Yes, everything is rather basic, but works well in that regard. The movement seems really fast and uncontrollable at first but surprisingly it works quite well and I got to the end without falling down too far. Some audio and maybe one more gameplay element would've improved the game a lot, but as it is, I enjoyed this, good job!
A nice little puzzly game! The mechanics work quite well, the visuals are simple but nice. The music was a bit too quiet maybe, but fit the mood well. One more puzzle element would've been nice to flesh the gameplay out a little more. The realtime enemies felt a little weird, one would expect those to move in turns with the player I guess, but it does fit the theme and create some tension. Enjoyed this quite a bit, good job! Btw teasing the mechanic on the start screen was a really nice touch!
A simple puzzle mechanic made great through clever level design. It's fascinating how much you made out of this. The game is a real brainteaser in the best sense. The drag controls felt awkward at first but once I got used to them they made sense. A button to clear all rails built (aka clean up the mess I made...) would've been helpful. Enjoyed this a lot and played for quite some time. Good job! PS: The game would work great on mobile I think.
Pretty nice game overall, but there is also quite some room for improvements. First of all, I really like the art style and how all the menus have this bouncyness. The controls also work quite well. But the mechanics pretty much boiled down to spamming the left mouse button for me, jumping seemed a little pointless. Maybe if you allowed to keep the mouse button down to continuously attack (maybe even walk backwards while doing so), I think that could make the fighting more fun. Unfortunately the music didn't work :( And lastly: If you used Unity and upload to itch.io, why not provide a WebGL build (and Mac and Linux as well)? People love WebGL these days :) Overall, I enjoyed playing your game, good job!
It seems like a pretty cool game with quite a bit of content, but I was just not able to control it properly. The mouse look felt very weird, at the same time too fast and kinda dragging, which made it impossible for me to play. I really tried, but couldn't get past level 3. I'd love to try this again if you improved the controls a bit. Good job anyway!
Pretty neat game! I especially liked the visuals and the music. The controls work quite well too and moving feels good. The game is a bit on the easy side, I found that by staying at one wall I could pretty much survive forever. Some different enemy behaviours would've been great, something to constantly keep you moving. Also pushing a wall back all the way with just one hit seems a little too powerful. Overall, I enjoyed this though and played for 180s until I let the walls crush me :) Good job!
Wow, this is way more compelling and fun than it looks like initially. Once you get to three ships and some upgrades it really starts to feel quite puzzly and satisfying, but also a little more like work, moving all three ships into position (maybe think about a different control scheme?). Played this for quite some time and made it to round 70 or so, at this point it felt like I could not lose anymore, but it was a little too much work for me to try and clear all the blocks. Do you win the game if you manage to do this? Anyway, I had a lot of fun with this game, good job!
Really great looking game! The gameplay partially also works well, movement feels good and also exploring the map. The biggest problem is that it's very hard to know in which area you will hit enemies, some visual indication of this would've been great. Enjoyed this nonetheless, good job!
Really fun game! The mechanics work very well, watching the walls come closer really felt very claustrophobic (in a good way), so the games title is very fitting. Movement also feels pretty good, although slightly floaty, and the traps popping up after activating a switch are mean! The short level length prevents death from being too frustrating, which is nice. I also really like the visuals, quite beautiful. Overall, I enjoyed this a lot and find little to criticize, good job! PS: The game window on itch.io seems too small, might wanna check that out. PPS: 15 attempts to get to the end :)
This was pretty fun! The first level was easy going and a good tutorial level. Then, when the shooting eyes appeared, it suddenly became much more hectic and challenging, but also more fun. The item mechanic is cool, but the jumping feels a tiny bit annoying, maybe one less jump and a little more height per jump would've felt better. Still, this is quite different as far as platformers go and I enjoyed it a lot, good job!
A very simple game, but surprisingly quite a bit of fun! The visuals are nothing to write home about, but they are enough to get the job done. The controls and gameplay work quite well. While playing I imagined this could be an amazing (local) multiplayer experience, maybe with a few simple extras added, like energy to run for a short amount of time, and more than two players. Enjoyed this, good job!
Super fun and polished two player game! Played a few rounds with my girlfriend and we were laughing out loud sometimes! The mechanics just work really well and the game speed is pleasantly high, which allows for quick rounds. The mechanic of a cut off part of the level collapsing is also awesome. Also, great visuals! I actually only have one complaint (except for more maps maybe): The jumping doesn't work too well, because it's kinda hard to guess when you can jump again. Apart from this minor issue, this is just an amazing game!
@vlad-dae: Thanks! Yeah, sniping is possible, but I think that's okay because it doesn't appear in too many situations.
@eli-delventhal: Thanks! Your healthbar is displayed below the player character, just like it is for the enemies. But you're right, the bar at the top might not be clear (it's a "sacribar" and shows the satisfaction of the demon king). I tried to show what it means by placing an angry and a satisfied face of the demon king on either end, but that might not be clear enough.
@ryjcio: Thanks! Why did you think it was boring if I may ask? Did you maybe just get some bad powerups and then couldn't kill enemies fast enough before the boss appeared? Powerup distribution is purely random and so you might've just had a "bad run".
About the boss: Yes, the boss is pretty damn hard and needs some practice to beat, but I just liked the progression curve like this (first you are powerless, then you get super-powerful through powerups, then get stomped by the boss).
A really addictive and mysterious card game. I liked it a lot all around, the texts and music created quite the dense atmosphere for such a type of game. I really had to figure out what was going on for some time at the start, but once I got the hang of it it was quite fun. I faced the boss too early though and got smashed, with not enough souls to revive. This is really intriguing though and I might come back for another round. One thing that was a major issue for me is the slow speed, especially when dragging cards, it all seemed very low fps. Apart from that, I enjoyed this a great deal, good job!
More of a toy than an actual game, but a great one at that! Had a lot of fun experimenting with the different contraptions and watching my people fly around weirdly (even more fun when I found out that I could push people around with some unbuilt contraptions). It also looks incredible and sounds really nice. Great job overall!
Really, really cute little game you made! The visuals and especially audio are just adorable. Gameplay is solid, but I wished it was all a little faster, the movement felt a little sluggish but this kinda adds to the mood. I don't see much relation to the theme either, but who cares, you just made the game you wanted to make and that's awesome! Good job overall!
Really nice game! The gameplay mechanic is very unique, creative and a great use of the theme. Often the movement felt quite fiddly and hard, but at other times really fun, especially when jumping really high. It's just the the ups and downs of physics I guess. Anyway, I also really liked the story and the writing, it just has this "cool" tone. The visuals and audio also really help to set up the world and they are nicely done. Overall, I enjoyed the quite long playtime of this game until the very end, great job!
Pretty decent shooter-platformer! Visuals are really nice, audio effects are okay but also slightly annoying over time. The gameplay worked well and controls felt good although I felt like they could've been more fluid (as in getting stuck in walls a bit). I found out quite late that you can also jump on enemies head, which from this point on was my favorite (and in the end the only) way of killing enemies, it just felt really satisfying. The shortcut in the final level was a nice little touch. Enjoyed this game quite a bit overall, good job!
A pretty grim game, but also a good one. I enjoyed the visuals and audio, especially that blue follow effect is nice, but throwing penguin babies into a fire is just something I don't want to do for long (or at all, for that matter). Movement feels pretty good and throwing them around is actually quite fun, except for a little bit of frustration which comes from a perceived offset between the preview curve and the actual flight. Still, a decent game, good job!
Decent self-sacrifice platformer! The controls work well and the game looks quite good. Wilhelm scream is also always nice, although it could get annoying in some levels :) I stopped in one particularly frustrating level towards the end of the game, but had fun until then. Would've wished for some narrative and a little more creative level design. Good job overall!
Pretty nice game already and it would make for a solid foundation for something much bigger. Visuals and audio are nice and gameplay is really interesting, but a little grindy. If, like you already mentioned, you added a bestiary and especially some parallelization (gaining souls is quite awkward at the moment), this could become a really great little game. It is already quite enjoyable in its current state though, good job!
Finished in 4:22, really fun game! The controls are a bit sensible but still work surprisingly well. The concept is well executed and a healthy amount of the game is doable without sacrifices, which is nice. Visuals and audio are quite good too. Overall, a really enjoyable package all around, good job!
A really interesting and different kind of game. The visuals are just stunning and the soundscape is also quite great, which results in a thick atmosphere. I walked around a little, explored everything, tried to pass some time and then it felt like there was nothing else to do, just like waiting at an airport in real life. You captured that feeling quite well and I really enjoyed this experience.
Really nice horror game! The minimalistic visuals are very well executed and together with the creepy soundscape create a thick atmosphere of unease. Once I figured out that going along the walls keeps you save from harm it was basically finding a way through the maze gameplay-wise. So, actually quite simple, but the mood (and humor that fit surprisingly well) kept me going. Then I reached the exit, and god, why? :) So I went back to the desk (does the labyrinth change on every objective or was this just my imagination?) and oh boy, I should've known. I quit at that point because the atmosphere was starting to really get to me. A really good piece of horror overall, great job!
Very good game with an outstanding atmosphere! That Moloch is just terrifying, both visually and sonically. The choices are quite tough and gruesome. Really liked this game for it's mood and message, good job!
Nice visuals, audio and idea, but the execution lacks somewhat gameplay-wise. The movement across the map seems like it could be interesting when having to take different terrain into account, but at the moment it's just moving fast towards the next city. The combat is not interactive enough, when using something like defence battles take forever, so I just use heavy attack all the time, but still have to watch for some time. If you could manage to parallelize gameplay, i.e. having different armies moving across the map, fighting on different spots at the same time, the game could become much bigger and better. As it is, it's still a nice atmospheric game, with a lot of potential, good job!
Really nice Settlers-like game! The visuals are awesome and it's sooo much fun to smash everything into pieces using meteors! But just watching those little peeps do their thing is already nice and relaxing. Really enjoyed this, good job!
Really good game! Nice use of the theme, although I always upgraded my weapon when I had enough souls, because having a longer range protects you better from harm than more health. Controls felt good but it was a little hard to figure out how long my range exactly was. Enjoyed the visuals and audio quite a bit. My biggest critique would be that the levels felt very samey, another enemy type would've improved the game a lot. Still, I had a lot of fun with this one, good job!
Nice use of the theme and I guess you designed it so that you can get through with every ability combination left, which is neat! I decided to keep my movement abilities, and after sacrificing my second arm I had to laugh so much when I couldn't climb ladders anymore, hadn't thought of that before! Gameplay overall works well but feels a little too "glitchy", some more weight to the movement would've been great. Still, I really enjoyed this, good job!
A pretty damn fine little rts / tactical game. Nice visuals and sound effects. The controls worked really well and gameplay was quite exciting actually, I really had to scout the map in advance to plan my route, and sacrificing low hp units to gain upgrades feels quite satisfying. Some music would've been great and maybe one or two more levels, but other than that I enjoyed this a lot, good job!
Really cool use of the theme! It's a little painful though to sacrifice some of these features (ammo seems especially mandatory), but hey, that's the point :) The game also plays and looks quite nice with the cheat feature unlocked and really feels different compared to "sacrificial builds". I would've liked to see the score ingame and not just at the end (if you mean this by "Score display bug fixed", it doesn't seem fixed, at least not in the WebGL build). Also, the WebGL window is cut off at the sides when not in fullscreen mode. Besides these minor issues, I really enjoyed playing this game, good job!
Cool flappy-style game! Really like the aesthetics present here, especially the very appealing visuals, but the music is also quite nice. Couldn't get very far because I suck at games like this but it seemed like most obstacles were doable, although I really would've wished for some less brutal collision detection. Good job overall!
Pretty damn awesome game! The mechanics are quite innovative, the visuals are beautiful and cute, music is quite fitting and relaxing. The color mixing was a bit beyond me, I think there could be more feedback what color you currently have. Also, some sounds would've been nice. Still, a great game from you yet again, good job!
Pretty fun game and a solid foundation for a nice shooter. The movement and shooting feels pretty good, especially with higher speeds. The camera is a little problematic though, especially near walls it goes crazy. I had a bug where the sigils that I activated didn't disappear and I could pick them up again and again, which made for a pretty fun overpowered run :) The music fits the mood well, but the shot sound could've used some variation. Enjoyed this quite a bit overall, good job!
Pretty amazing game! I love the artstyle, it has a lot of character. The gameplay is quite fluid and feels great, plus having to pick up new weapons mixes it up quite well. I didn't really mind the low accuracy of the weapons. The music is super fitting and somehow the lack of sound effects really supports the whole mood. Overall, this is quite the polished and complete package. Enjoyed this a whole lot and wish there was a little more content, but it is awesome as it is. :)
Pretty awesome, slightly hectic, really funny game! The visuals and audio are both top notch, the gameplay is varied but a little to repetitive, would've loved to see something other than "more of everything" in the other rounds. The cursor leaving the window was a little problematic at the hammering part. The flying track sounds a bit too noisy for my taste, but otherwise the music is just amazing (as usual from you!). Overall, this was great fun! PS: I felt really bad for those cute little turtles... :)
Really nice artstyle! The game is also interesting and plays quite well, but I kinda sucked at predicting the enemy attacks and didn't manage to beat the second enemy in several tries. Still, I enjoyed playing this game, good job!
Neat little top-down-shooter! It controls quite well and the upgrades feel powerful. Actually a little too powerful for the price to pay, it would've probably been a better balance if the upgrades cost 20 of max AND current health instead of just 10 max health. Would've loved to see a bit more content, but had quite a bit of fun with this one, good job!
Solid foundation for a nice game, but in its current state it's a bit lacking. I could've easily gone through the levels without any powerups, some more tension would've been nice. The controls are quite floaty, which fits the setting really well. The artstyle is quite nice I think. Before the end screen I thought the levels were randomly generated, which could be a path worth pursuing if you plan to develop this game further. Had fun playing your game, good job!
Beautiful game! The artstyle is nicely pulled off (loved the last screen), the audio supports the mood perfectly, and the story is simple but touching (for me, the good ending was the most beautiful one). Gameplay-wise it's not too exciting but I couldn't care less if everything else is so compelling. Still, the bad path was pretty boring, some differences in the writing would've been nice. Also, it was quite hard to read which memories were lost, as they disappeared so quickly. An amazing game overall though and good use of the theme. It's the first game I played this LD, how are the other games supposed to keep up with this level of awesomeness? :)
This is a solid foundation for an interesting god game, but in the current state it doesn't work that well. The beginning was the most interesting part, figuring out what exactly is going on. It quickly spirals out of control with a massive population and being able to afford everything (did anything do something else than increase population growth? if so, it was not understandable). Some of the upgrade texts are cut off. The visuals are actually quite nice, although at first I didn't get where there are humans on the planet. Thanks btw for the mute button, the "music" was funny at first but got a little annoying quickly. Overall, if you add more content and polish, I could very well see this becoming quite the interesting and different game!
Very interesting game! The mechanics are unusual and intriguing, it's not often that you see a game like this in a jam. The visuals are quite nice, as are the music, sounds and writing. I played two rounds, one that ended very quickly and one longer one and really enjoyed it. Is there an end to the game besides having no more heir?
Nice game, the movement felt really good and I see quite the potential for a cool exploration based game, but the screens are just really big and I got lost quickly, maybe a minimap or some landmarks could help with that. The audio is pretty damn good!
Very nice and relaxing game! The visuals, especially the animations, are pretty awesome. I really got into a sort of flow playing it :) Would've liked to see some more story, I think with the day to day gameflow this would've fit very well inbetween days. Good job overall!
An interesting game! The artstyle looks really beautiful and the gameplay has a lot of potential, but in its current state it is a little broken. The shot is way to strong and its possible to get trapped in an upgrade loop when touching the fish. The movement already felt pretty good though. If you manage to bugfix this a little more and add some more interesting upgrades (and some audio) it could become something really special. Good job overall!
Really fun game! I like the fast paced gameplay and upgrade mechanics a lot, although it was almost a bit too fast paced for me, considering you have to choose the correct attack for each enemy type. The artstyle is very nice! Really enjoyed playing this, good job! PS: About audio: It seems like you used audio from another source (the urls suggest this), this is not really made clear and you haven't opted out of audio, so I'm a bit confused, could you clarify this?
Pretty neat game! I like the artstyle and it was fun watching the units chaotically bash on each other. Seems a bit impossible to loose though, I played till wave 20 and the enemies seemed to not be able to kill anything let alone touch my core. Enjoyed this nonetheless, good job!
Super hard, but interesting game! I needed a few tries to figure out how to survive for at least a bit and then my strategy became using dead towers as blockers, but eventually there were just too many enemies. So, the balance seems a bit problematic, but other than that this is quite awesome, I enjoyed the visuals and gameplay a lot. PS: When going back to the menu after dying, you get to the tutorial and can't get back to the main menu, so I had to restart the game after each try. PPS: This is what my screen looked like in the end :) waaaaahhhh.png
Pretty fun game! The mechanics work quite well, leading the flock is not too easy and there are always some dying, so it seems well balanced. The artstyle is also quite nice and creates quite the mood together with the chosen audio. Really enjoyed this, good job!
Pretty nice game! The movement feels good and the attack satisfying. Visually, it also looks quite nice, especially the main character. The idea of having to save up your strikes is well executed and it seems pretty hard at first, but after the first few tries the game actually becomes quite easy and the gameplay feels a bit samey. Some more enemy types could help with that. Overall though, I really enjoyed this and played up until wave 12, good job!
Like you said, it has nothing to do with the theme, but who cares? :) It's a pretty decent little platformer. Finding out that you could propel yourself much higher into the air when pressing jump while going up inside a cloud made the game way more fun, was this intentional? The visuals are quite psychedelic but not so much to be unbearable. I enjoyed playing it, good job overall!
Nice game, quite fun! The gameplay works pretty well and the combat is fun with all weapons, although the ranged ones have a bit of a long cooldown. Infinite running is possible once the sprint bar has depleted. The enemies didn't pose too much of a threat and the boss was also rather easily beaten by attacking it from below, but I don't mind low difficulty. The artstyle is quite nice as is the music. Good job overall!
A very basic game, which could be improved in several ways. The artstyle is kinda weird and the graphics clash with each other, if you'd want it to be a little more psychedelic I'd say double down on this. The gameplay works quite well, with the main challenge being to remember which key holds off which enemy, but it gets a bit boring quickly, some more variety would be cool. I never got into the situation where I had to really keep on eye out for my health. Just a thought: If you'd add a visible cooldown on the skills and design the enemy waves accordingly, this would probably turn into a rythm game, which might be worth exploring. Anyway, despite my criticism I enjoyed this game, good job and congrats on finishing it!
Pretty sweet FPS! The visuals are very awesome and create a nice mood, it would've been impressive if you created them yourself, but still, you put them together well. The music and general audio is quite nice too. The movement and shooting feels good, but the constantly shooting enemies were a bit annoying, I do prefer shooters where I can actually dodge bullets. Overall, this is a really enjoyable game, good job!
This feels like it could be a cool game, but it seems very unfinished. At first I thought there was so audio at all (despite the obvious fmod splashscreen), because it is hidden in the options menu and turned off by default, better have it on at the start at a medium volume or something. Speaking of audio, it was nice, but the sudden shifts between what I presume are different areas were very confusing. The movement and shooting and enemy variety was really fun, but the whole game is just an endless dungeon with no real goal or purpose. The visuals look quite nice, but there are some layering problems with the hero and the walls and the floor tiles could use some variation. The shop in the beginning was broken, there were four identical items that all said they give 0 health for 0 cost and there didn't appear to be any more shops inside the game. And what I presume is your core mechanic, namely that shooting costs health: It doesn't work, I could just plow through everything with my trusty shotgun. So, overall this seems very promising, but is a little broken in its current state. Still, I enjoyed it mostly due to the fluid gameplay, good job!
Pretty fun little game! The upgrading mechanic is nice, but seems a little buggy too (could sometimes click mutate even if I didn't have enough lives). It's pretty fast-paced, dodging the bullets is kinda hard but at some point you just don't care anymore :) Some sounds / music would've been great. Still enjoyed this quite a bit, good job!
Pretty neat game, it's fun and looks really cool. The sounds are also nice, but seem a little loud and overwhelming. The biggest issues are the camera, which often let me see only black, and most of the time I got hit constantly but couldn't make out the source of damage, as all enemies were quite the distance away, which was very frustrating. Still, I enjoyed this game, good job!
Thank you so much for your feedback so far, we really appreciate it! <3 Just fixed the potentially game-breaking multibuy bug (well, not exactly game-breaking, but forcing you to grind, which can be quite annoying) and added some alternative keyboard input buttons and platform builds for Linux and macOS on itch.io.
Pretty nice and humorous little game with good writing. Congrats on checking out bitsy AND making a game in such a short amount of time. That super obedient parrot is hilarious, the article reads a little like an april fools :)
@geoff-nagy: Thanks for your kind comment! Well, it probably has no ratings yet because the compo just ended and a lot of people are still hard at work finishing their jam games. And I haven't started rating yet, so no karma / coolness yet. But I certainly hope that a lot of people will give it a try :)
When reading the description I immediately thought this was gonna be an Osmos clone :) But it is more than different enough to stand on its own. I really like the idea and implementation. If you plan to develop it further, maybe add some inter-planetary gravitation? The graphics are a bit so-so and the third level maybe a bit hard, but only at the start. Though overall, as it stands, this is a very solid foundation!
Now that was interesting. Everything about this game is quite different from the standard, which I like a lot. Really enjoyed discovering the mechanics, world and story. The art style is also pretty damn cool in all its glitchy goodness. I only found the controls to be a bit frustrating sometimes, especially when trying to jump on a button from the side (played the compo version). Great game overall, and it really stands out quite a bit. I could very well imagine this getting developed into something bigger.
It's magnificent! The mega man vibes are so incredibly strong, I almost can't believe it :) As with each of your entries, I love love love the soundtrack, it's incredible how much great music you produced in this short timespan. Hearing those tunes just makes me want to set out on a great adventure! The visuals and gameplay are also on point. Jumping and getting 2-3 shots into an enemy felt as nostalgic as it gets. The only minor downside is the kind of standard interpretation of the theme, but since the implementation of it all, including the unlock mechanic, is just so damn good it pretty much doesn't matter. So, overall, I guess this will be one of the best games this LD, although it's only the second one I rated :) PS: The difficulty of the boss fight felt just right to me.
Hey there buddy! Finally got around to playing the final version of your game and it's great! I love how the color returns to this world, it's an awesome sense of progression, together with the vision-carrots! One could say that the game is about the return of vision, which might be a foundation for a story in further development, if you decide to do so. The music is really soothing and fitting and I still can't believe you made it entirely in Audacity, it's just crazy :D Anyway, it was great seeing you again and jamming with you, looking forward to next time! PS: There was a small bug at the end: When you keep pressing against the final transmitter it might happen that it doesn't get locked in its correct position but is rotated further and thus the ending looks a bit illogical.
Love it! Especially the writing and humor are great, I smiled almost all the way through. The graphics are actually pretty charming too, and the music floats along to the game nicely. I played to all of the three endings and liked the third one the most. So yeah, I really enjoyed this, just like all your previous entries, keep up just being awesome! PS: Is it a joke or just unintentional that it says 1, 2, 3 for dialog choices but there are never more than two? Or did I miss something?
Whoa, that death animation is brutal! But the game looks, sounds and plays great in general, a very polished experience. Would've loved to see more, it was over way too soon, but I really enjoyed this, good job!
Pretty nice game! Really like the interpretation of the theme. Even when invisible I could feel where I am currently thanks to the camera. The visuals look very nice and the music is pleasant. Unfortunately, the movement feels pretty weird and / or is buggy. I guess maybe your ground check distance is just too low, because 50% of all jumps where not registered, which was really frustrating. I played until the last level, but gave up on this one after a dozen of tries. Still quite enjoyed it, but without this bug it would just be soooo much better!
PS: The signposts look like little faces (with huge eyebrows though) which I really liked :)
Pretty cute game! The visuals are quite nice and the music too! Movement felt a bit jaggy though, maybe you just need to put cam follow into FixedUpdate to make it more smooth... Anyway, I wanted to collect all the boxes and hear everything together, but I couldn't reenter a room once I had grabbed one box from there, so I could only ever have two boxes in my cave, is that intentional or a bug? PS: SQ8L for the win!
A very athmospheric game with a nice artstyle and good sound effects. It also plays quite well, although the "combat" physics seemed a bit unpolished. Lost my doggo to the water which was really sad. I played for a bit, but there is no ending, is there? Anyway, really enjoyed it, great mood!
Well, it is a standard idle game mechanics-wise and quite boring on that side, BUT the really nice visuals and audio make into quite the soothing experience. It's amazing to see how much life can be brought into lifeless building graphics by just adding a one-pixel-offset animation :) My time was 7:52 and it was really relaxing, but I still would've loved to see at least some little surprise in the gameplay (the lower right corner was so empty, I was hoping it would at some point be filled with something interesting). Btw it is possible to downgrade buildings if you start with a higher tier building on a tile. Not sure if this could lead to the game not being finishable, but it certainly seems like a bug.
That was way more awesome than it seemed at first :) The beginning is a little difficult, because you get tought that another group of ants will join you if you have at least as many as them. Then I was at six ants and couldn't find any group to conquer and almost gave up on the game. Realizing that overtaking a mound works a little different than that took some time, but then the game really started to shine. It's just mesmerizing to watch the ever growing amount of ants. The music is quite good too. Really enjoyed this one after the initial frustration, good job!
Really impressive visuals for a jam game! I especially liked how the "upper" parts of the level come really close to the camera. The gameplay is also rock solid, the most fun weapon is ofc the grenade launcher, it feels pretty damn good. The music you chose is also very fitting. It would've been great to be able to switch weapons using the mouse wheel. Also, a proper ending after the third level would've been nice. Still, it was great fun wreaking some havoc among these clowns, good job overall!
A delightful little turn-based stealth game. The mechanics work quite well and could easily be extended if you plan to continue development, i.e. make enemies that move twice per player move or just on every second player move. It could become quite an awesome puzzle game. The visuals are pretty alright too, just the background could've used some work. The audio is probably what I liked the most, it just fits the mood really well. Overall, I enjoyed playing this to the end, good job!
Extremely short but also very fun game! I really like the separation into the two phases and I think each could've easily lasted a bit longer, especially phase 2 was over way too soon. Nice visuals and very cool audio. Enjoyed this quite a lot and really wished it was a bit longer, but it's great as it is, good job! PS: Don't censor yourself. Games are art and you can (and should) do whatever it is you want.
This is super fun! Combining the mechanics of moving / shooting and collecting plus choosing the currently useful upgrade creates quite the challenge, but it's a doable one and therefor quite satisfying. The weapon upgrades especially feel great. I was wondering if this was an endless game just before the boss came in, so perfect timing on that one! Visuals and audio are also really nice. Overall, quite the great package, I enjoyed this a whole lot!
The game looks really amazing, but apart from that there is actually not much to it (yet), it feels very unfinished... Movement with a qwerty keyboard is actually possible if I spread my fingers far enough, but being able to use arrow keys for movement or spacebar for attacking would've made things much easier. The intro text disappeard pretty quickly, had to restart the game once to fully read it. The boss, or what I imagine is supposed to be the boss, just stood there and did nothing... Was this supposed to be just a peaceful ending maybe? I also didn't really understand why the shops offered those items multiple times. Anyway, enough with all that criticism :D I still enjoyed playing it and with some more development I could see this become something cool, adding some RPG mechanics apart from the coins would for example be great.
Pretty innovative concept with a lot of potential! It was fun in its current state, but by adding more gameplay elements this could become quite amazing. There could be different types of enemies and minions, levels or an open world, there are just so many possibilities. The visuals are also already really solid. In this compo version I would've liked to see a number on the death screen about how long I lasted. Really enjoyed this unique mechanic, good job!
A really interesting game. I like the drawing part a lot, pretty creative use of the theme! It would've been nice though to see something like a preview of the items you add to your hero while drawing. The exploration also works quite well and getting the upgrades is fun. The major negative aspect is the combat, which seems quite unpolished. I got stuck in a corner after defeating an enemy, unable to get out, maybe you forgot to turn off their colliders upon death? Apart from that though, I enjoyed this game and could very well imagine an extended and polished version of it, good job!
Solid little platformer! Like you mentioned, it doesn't feel very snappy, maybe increasing the gravity a lot (and together with that the jump strength so the max height stays the same) might help a bit, but getting the feeling just right requires quite some playing around with the numbers. The visuals and audio are quite nice, although the music seemed a little glitchy at times, is this intended? I really liked how the player is hidden behind the rock in the beginning :) Overall, I enjoyed playing this, good job!
Same feeling as the other commenters, unfortunately. I had no idea what I was doing. But hey, at least it looked pretty cool and interesting! You might want to consider adding one or all of the following: A tutorial, tooltips upon hovering over the actions and stats, some graphical indicator whether the stats are currently on the rise or fall. It could be a really interesting game if only I knew how to play it properly :)
Pretty nice game with a decent concept, great art and good audio. The combat felt a bit unsatisfying and the dash didn't always trigger for me, but the combat got better with the upgrades found. Still, if it was a bit snappier and better to predict I would've enjoyed this much more. Overall, a really solid entry and foundation to build upon, good job!
Pretty cool game! The controls feel satisfyingly responsive, and although I'm quite bad at maneuvering like this, it was fun. The game looks quite professional actually, really good job on that! Some more juice in the camera-work would've been great. It was nice to find out that I could crash into the enemies and stop them like this, if you plan to develop this game further I'd emphasize this mechanic more, i.e. by adding a boost. I could also see this going more into a tower defense direction, where you collect the spare pieces of destroyed enemies and crates and build more defensive stuff yourself. The music is pretty good, but the drum sound gets annoying quickly. The theme seems a little absent, but whatever :) Overall, I enjoyed this quite a bit, well done!
Cool game which could use a better difficulty curve. In the beginning it was very easy for quite some time and after 1:30 it quickly became impossible. Made it to 1:42 overall and enjoyed it, the controls feel pretty good, but the grappling hook aim could be faster. Because of the difficulty spike the health mechanic almost doesn't come into play at all. Some audio would've improved the experience a lot. Still, I enjoyed it and with some more polish and gameplay elements other than boulders this could become pretty awesome, good job!
Really neat little game! At first it was a bit boring though, but the enemies upgrade really intensified the action and I almost died. That upgrade was quite the nice surprise btw, I expected the enemies to just get colored and not that they suddenly increase in number dramatically. Made it with just one heart left to the hero upgrade and being able to strike so fast felt awesome due to the contrast to how slow it was before. So yeah, the difficulty curve felt just right for me. Visuals are pretty damn nice too. Would've loved to have some more content, but I really enjoyed it as it is, good job!
Pretty cool and fun game! I liked the gameplay a lot, crashing into enemies and the upgrade mechanic are really entertaining. The visuals are a bit so-so, but sufficient. At my first two tries I died really fast, but then got the hang of it and the game actually had a reverse difficulty curve, especially with the overpowered cannons later, but I don't mind at all. The ending was also nice. Overall, enjoyed this and played it for quite some time, good job!
Seems quite manageable at first but oh boy, that escalated quickly! Got to 144s and enjoyed it. The little bobbleheads are quite cute :)
@stanleygray: Thanks for playing the game and leaving feedback, really appreciate it! Yes, the tree puzzle is problematic. Spoiler alert: You have to look at the tree from the right angle for some time (there's a little hint blinking from time to time). I actually really want for players to see the ending of the game, which is why I'm currently working on improving this puzzle in the post compo version, so that it can be solved from both sides of the tree and is a little more forgiving.
@d4rkweasel: Thanks for playing the game and leaving a comment! @owl-and-jackalope: Thank you so much for your comment, I'm really happy that you enjoyed it and played it until the end! @twistedhawk: Thanks for playing and leaving feedback! There is actually a subtle hint at the tree puzzle, it blinks up briefly every 8 seconds. But it seems this is probably not enough to solve it... In the post-compo version, this puzzle is a bit more forgiving and solvable from two different angles (from the front and the back side of the tree). I hope this helps a bit, although it's probably still quite hard to figure out. :)
@jamieok: Thank you so much! Comments like these really make my day :) I added a link to the solution for the tree puzzle at the top of the games page, if you want to check out the end of the game. (trust me, it's worth it) @mrchippy: Thanks for your comment! The slow movement is quite intentional to support the mood of the game. And I think the map is small enough that it doesn't really matter to much. (the movespeed has still been increased a little in the post-compo version though) @mykola: Thank you so, so much for your lovely comment! Another one to truly make my day. I love that you enjoyed the story <3 I added a few visual polishes in the post-compo version, not too much, just litte touches, and I think I'll leave it at this state, because I'm quite satisfied with how it looks. (there's always more stuff to polish, but gotta move on someday ^^) @alexandroskap: I guess you solved the wall puzzle first :) It's meant to carry the message that problems might be way smaller than they seem at first (or even non-existent) when viewed from a different perspective (and prepare for the tree perspective puzzle mechanically). Or was it the one with the seed? That one is perhaps a little too simple, I have to admit :D @red-ash: And yet another comment that makes my day, I can't believe it, thank you so much! I'm glad you enjoyed the game. I love making wholesome stuff these days :) @jk5000: Thanks for your comment! The slowness is intended to support the mood, but you got a point with it being a little unfinished. I pretty much have three core mechanics in there (candle, point'n'click and perspective) and none of them is fully realized due to time constraints. But hey, you could also just call it casual gameplay :D
A pretty solid defense game that reminds me of Plants vs Zombies. It would've been nice to have a more polished UI, I think just having the symbols and cost in the build menu would've been sufficient if you provided information in a little UI-element that appears when hovering over a unit (that way, there wouldn't be a need to scroll). Also, some information in general about the units would've been nice. The visuals and animations are pretty nice! (although the colors are a bit on the bright side) The game started lagging a bit when there was more going on, but hey, it's a jam, that's totally fine :) Enjoyed this overall, good job!
A pretty amazing game all around! Love the artstyle and animations, the music and especially the sounds are great too. The game is also quite funny :) Only minor downside, as others have stated, is that the horizontal movement speed feels a bit awkward. Also, some 1-pixel-lines kept popping up, maybe due to compression? All around I really enjoyed spending a few minutes in this little world you created, great job! PS: I kinda hoped that I could give the worm a fish to eat :D
A really awesome experience! The gameplay is quite simple, but varied enough and it gets rather hectic at times. It's still always manageable, which is great. The visuals and audio are quite amazing, and together with the narration and the dense moments it all creates an outstanding atmosphere. Really enjoyed playing it!
Fantastic game! It looks great, sounds even better (as is to be expected of a ddrkirby entry ^^) and it's also just a whole lot of fun to play. The amount of polish is quite insane! :D The final level was just frantic, but still doable! The reload mechanic got almost irrelevant at that point, but it didn't matter at all. What can I say, I enjoyed this a lot and I think it might be even better with touch controls on mobile.
Pretty hot game! Lighting everything on fire is just a lot of fun and it plays really well. The torches getting lit and showing the areas that I have already been to is a nice touch. The visuals and audio are pretty good too. The water barrels barely mattered, as they could easily be avoided. Maybe they should break through different sources and make traversal a little harder. Beat the boss on the second attempt by retreating and refilling two times. Overall, just an all around very enjoyable game, good job! (although the lines 'oil is life, water is death' kinda startled me ^^)
An awesome game from you once again, despite all the engine hassle :) It looks and sounds great and is a lot of fun to play, it also gets quite frantic and thrilling towards the end. Would love to see an extended version of this with more features and levels. Great job overall!
Really great atmosphere in this game! It looks pretty great and I love the music. To me, it felt like it would've probably been better to go with direct controls instead of using the mouse, but it worked well enough. Enjoyed playing this, good job!
Pretty damn weird experience, but also really atmospheric. I liked the moody intro a lot, although it required maybe a few to many clicks (sometimes it didn't seem to register my clicks, I felt). The minigames are quite simple, but enjoyable in their own creepy way. Visuals and audio create a real sense of unease, good job on that! I couldn't figure out the board at first, only after I read the comments. It feels strange to just have to pick the same graphic four times, but some of them are 'wrong'. I thought that I had to do some kind of combination. Overall, I liked this weird little experience!
This is just awesome! Everything about this game is just really polished and on a high level. I especially like the artstyle, it's very atmospheric and well executed. The gameplay is also really fun, I like the switching between the upgrading and fighting phase and could very well imagine this being developed into a great co-op experience. Audio is also top notch and the fact that you put some pretty good voice acting in there is just the icing on this delicious cake. The only thing that is lacking a bit is the story, but the overall mood makes up for this. Great job overall!
That was... different. :D I really, really like the core mechanic of combining puzzling with whacky physics, and the split between the preparation phase and watching the (often unfortunate) events unfold. It has quite the appeal and was a lot of fun. There are a few problems though: There seems to be a bug with levels sometimes not resetting correctly. Sometimes it is hard to gain on overview of the events happening when they unfold due to the fixed camera angle. I'd suggest making it moveable in that stage of the level, or show more of what's happening. I gave up on the piano level, because it felt just too random. I could get the car to fly over the baby and bounce the piano away, but then it turned around... (which was actually quite the hilarious moment the first time, but not anymore on the fifth try ^^). If you have a hint on how to beat this level I'd gladly play the remaining levels. (kudos for having the progress be saved when you quit!) I imagine a 'casual' mode could help, where you have all the time in the world to setup the objects, and after failure they don't reset again, so you can make those tiny adjustments that can make all the difference. I didn't hear any of the linked music in the game, is that a bug or intentional? (you didn't opt out of the audio category, which would've probably been the way to go if you used music from external sources). Anyway, all that criticism is just meant to be constructive, and I had a lot of fun with the game nonetheless!
This game conveys a pretty grim message... It's a good game though, the artstyle and especially the animations are quite striking. The gameplay is quite fluid, but you can really feel the powerlessness. Unfortunately I couldn't play until the end, the game slowed down and crashed just short of the cure-bar being filled. But maybe that's part of the message too (if so, holy shit, that'd be super dark...). It left quite the impact, so well done overall!
Really enjoyable game all around! The visuals, the music and sounds, it's all pretty damn good! The gameplay, while a little hard at first (the tutorial graphic looks a bit overwhelming, there are just so many buttons ^^), is actually really fun when using the sprint feature a lot. It took me a few tries but I managed to finish the game and enjoyed it quite a bit, good job!
A really interesting mix of mechanics! I enjoyed reading the chat a lot. As for the battle, it seemed a bit slow and unforgiving (which is probably realistic, but I don't know since I'm not an MMO player). I'd have very much liked it if this part of the game was easier and faster, so that I could get to the next narrative bit quicker. The visuals are very nice, as is the audio. Good job overall!
Pretty cool idea and execution! The atmosphere conveyed is also quite nice, though it could've been even better with some more lighting techniques used. I found the controls to be a bit hard and died quite often. But one time, my phone went out and I was able to find my way back to the lobby charger through various dark rooms, which was a pretty good feeling. The bug that you can still move while being hidden is pretty annoying though, and having the battery show up while playing would be incredibly helpful. After clearing the way east of the garden I couldn't find out how to progress further, maybe having a link to a walkthrough could help people who are stuck and want to finish the game. Still, I enjoyed playing this, good job overall!
Pretty fun game, but damn, it's almost too hectic for me :D The game keeps you on your feet all the time and that's great on one hand, but on the other hand it really is too hard in its current state, I could keep it up for just a few minutes. Is there an ending to the game if you survive long enough? Anyway, the mechanics are quite varied and work well, it just needs a bit of balancing and maybe another way to fend off the attackers, like self-firing turrets or something along those lines. Good job overall!
This is pretty great, but it just messes with my head so much :D The visuals don't always work too well in conveying the depth of the level, but the light emitted by the flame is pretty helpful. It looks relly good overall. The audio is unobtrusive and underlines the games mood quite well. Relly enjoyed figuring out the way it works and playing this game, but I still can't quite wrap my head around it completely ^^. Good job overall!
The game is pretty funny, the visuals and audio work quite well to transport the humor, but I felt like gameplay was a bit boring tbh. It was pretty easy to scare away the wolves, and there was not enough feedback to show that I actually 'hit' them with my bark, they just disappeared a second later (or not...). The physics feel a tiny bit broken, which surprisingly led to more fun than the actual gameplay itself :) Would've loved to see the game double down on this aspect, right now I'm imagining the doggos bark affect the sheep as well, but in a totally over-exaggerated way, like sending them flying away, possibly towards the wolves. This way the player would also need to think about where to use barking. And there would be a lot of chaos, which I'd totally love. Just an idea if you want to work more on the game.
The core mechanic of keeping the momentum alive is pretty fun. The visuals are quite simple but I like the ripple effect. Would've loved to hear a tiny bit of audio. I'm not sure if I reached the end, I was at the filled tube-like thingy and not sure if I could build up more momentum to go really high. Overall, I enjoyed this and could see the core mechanic developed further into different directions. Good job!
It might be unfinished and buggy, but as has been stated, it's already kinda fun to keep that ball in the air. Reminds of the good old Blobby volley quite a bit :) The music is quite nice too. It might be worth it to think about putting this or a similar mechanic into a different context.
This is incredible! The game looks absolutely breathtaking, it sounds great, has good writing and even the gameplay is pretty awesome. I very much enjoyed sinking into this world for the games duration and I want to see more :)
Really nice game! I enjoyed the visuals a lot (especially the sprite when getting hit ^^) and the gameplay is really solid endless running with a few twists (I loved that you had to stand still against some enemies). The controls are a bit hard using the mouse, maybe you could add support for keyboard and gamepad? Unfortunately, I didn't make it to the end (tried it several times!), but I really enjoyed my time with the game, good job!
A nice, simple game. The throwing mechanic required some aiming ahead, which I like. It was really hard to tell if a rock actually hit though, some hit feedback would've helped a lot. The game looks really pleasant and I also like the happy tunes playing :) Good job overall!
Enjoyed playing this twice to see the good and the bad outcome. The visuals are very nice, the writing is quite alright (with a few typos here and there), and it's fun to see how the plant reacts. I was a little let down by the endings, they came a bit abruptly. Some audio would've elevated the mood a lot. And I found it a bit irritating that I had to click to continue after a fade to black (the UI could've used some polish generally). Still, this was really nice, good job!
@jitspoe As a solo gamedev, you just have to wear all of 'em hats! :)
And @everyone who voted and left feedback: I'm very glad you all liked the game and that it invoked some emotions in you. It was very heartwarming to read all your lovely comments, thank you all so much! I'm quite speechless at the moment seeing that rank in the mood category, but of course also super happy :)
That was the most fun I had with a game in quite some time! It's just so frantic and awesome and original, I really love this game :) The music and sounds (as well as the camera) totally support that feeling, the narration is quite hilarious, only the visuals could maybe use a bit of work, but they totally get the job done. I unfortunately couldn't beat the 15k points stage, which probably is the last one? But I had such a good time until then (and it's amazing how fast 20 min can go by). Started playing with keyboard but then switched to mouse because aiming at foes feels so much better, BUT I think the ultimate best input device for this one would be the gamepad. I encourage you to develop this further (especially multiplayer could be amazing) because I think I've never played something quite like it before and you could've hit an unoccupied niche here. High(est) marks all around from me, great job!
Great game, as usual from you! I especially liked the beginning, the ending, and how you put some storytelling in there. The visuals and effects are awesome! The mechanics work really well too, not too easy, not too hard. I only got one minor criticism: You might want to consider not using Z as a default input key, since it's a pain to use Z and X together on a QWERTZ layout keyboard (AZERTY even more, I guess). Thankfully it's configurable in the Unity launcher, but not everyone may know about this.
Probably the biggest scare I ever got from a jam game, when "it" came to get me... (maybe I should've turned my headphone-volume down a bit ^^) The visuals in this game are very beautiful. The audio cues create a really, really dense mood. Unfortunately I wasn't able to decipher the piano sequence. It seemed like one up, two up, two down, but I think I tried every combination, to no avail... Maybe you could link the solution somewhere for people who want to finish the game but can't figure this one out. Due to this circumstance the hiding mechanic actually got a bit annoying, I feel like "it" could take a bit longer to visit again... The looping mechanic however is very well implemented, the first loop came as a real surprise! Really enjoyed this overall and I'd totally play it again if you could help me out with that piano.
Great game, especially the atmosphere is quite outstanding! Love the visual style and the ambient audio. The story-snippets create quite the nice mystery. The movement felt a bit awkward at times, when getting stuck at obstacles, but that's just a minor annoyance. Really enjoyed this overall!
Pretty fun game! I especially like the mechanic of moving the playfield with your bullets, I think this could easily be extended to create a bigger game (multiplayer could be really fun with this mechanic). Good job!
A really nice game! The visuals (and their variety between the levels) and audio are pretty damn good, and the movement and gameplay in general feels very smooth. I played it until the end and enjoyed the frantic boss fights the most. I also really like the fact that you regain scarecrow-health by actually scaring crows :) Some critical feedback: I would've really liked to see at least one more enemy type in there, just two types don't really justify the length of nine levels, it felt a bit samey after a while apart from the bosses (but hey, you can just blame it on the theme ^^). Also, I would've loved to see another attack type for the player (i.e. right mouse button for a ranged or whirlwind attack with cooldown). As it is now, you could've just set the player to auto-attack and be done with it, as that's what I did pretty much all the time (except for relaxing my finger a bit, keeping that button pressed constantly is a bit straining) Despite these minor criticisms I really enjoyed playing your game, good job overall!
Very nice visuals and audio, creates a pretty dense mood! At first I thought damn, that's one big maze, but the looping aspect made it quite manageable. The simple puzzles really add to the experience. Enjoyed this quite a bit, good job!
Pretty good interpretation of the theme! I enjoyed jumping my way through these levels a couple of times, although the horizontal movement had a bit of drag at the start which made the first few jumps more difficult, but I got used to it. Would've loved to be able to actually go back through the portal instead of just forward, but as it is it feels more loopy :) Good job overall!
Pretty fun game! I made it out of the loop at last and had a good time until then. I was just a bit confused by the controls, sometimes they seemed to be direct and sometimes indirect by rotating the room. The direct ones feel better, but the rotating is more chaotic, which is also good :)
I actually didn't really enjoy playing this, but I guess that's the point :D A very repetitive loop that probably represents a regular office job quite well. The lack of vision on one day really made me expect a cheap jump scare, but you didn't do it, which I really appreaciate :) The visuals match the atmosphere pretty well, being nicely sterile. Unfortunately the performance is quite bad on my middle-class PC. Overall, a good execution of your idea, but I think a little more difference between the days or a slightly shorter loop would've been nice.
It looks pretty cute and is a nice idea, but the robots do bug out pretty quickly with no way to fix them. Maybe just a little reset-button on each robot would do the trick? You could also just double down on this and let everything escalate into total madness, could be fun too :)
Pretty interesting game with great visuals! But it is a bit hard to control, often I wasn't really sure if I'm currently controlling something or not, some feedback for player inputs would go a long way towards making the gameplay experience more satisfying. Apart from that I really enjoyed it, good job overall!
A good foundation for a potentially interesting platformer. Yes, it's quite unfinished, but you could work from here. The mood is pretty good already. The movement feels alright, but a little slow. Speaking of which: The platforms are way too slow, half of the game is just waiting for a platform. Make 'em three or four times faster and the game would probably play very differently. Still, I played to the teleporter twice and enjoyed it somewhat. Is there already an ending to the game? When I respawned, there was only one enemy, so I guess there's some randomness within the level generation maybe?
Really fun little shooter! Visuals and audio are pretty damn good. I agree with the other comments that a bit more hit feedback would be great. I found the game to be a little on the hard side, it would've been great to have the option to restart from the room where I died. Overall, I enjoyed this quite a bit, good job!
A nice little platformer! The changing level structure is definitely the highlight here, and how it forces you to try different routes. Some music and sounds would've been great! Also, I think you should mention that it's also possible to play the game using the arrow keys, as people with qwerty or qwertz layout keyboards will struggle a lot with the controls you describe (see comment above ^^) I enjoyed playing this and escaping the loop, good job overall!
A very mesmerizing experience! (I actually feel a bit dizzy now after playing around 10 runs, can't imagine how you must've felt during development ^^) The main mechanic works quite well and seems decently balanced. But as mentioned before, it somehow felt wrong to jump backwards, and I believe I couldn't have made it work anyway since everything happens so fast. My highscore was 26 and I feel like the game could be just a tiny bit more forgiving when jumping over. Btw: Is it possible to actually escape? :) I really like the simple but effective visuals, especially the sympathetic character. Some music and sounds would've been awesome and could've transformed this game into even more of a trip. Overall, a very nice first entry for you, hope to see you around again next time! :)
Very cool game! I really like the visuals and escpecially the music, great job on that! Some sound effects would've been nice though (but nothing too overwhelming to not detract too much from the music and relaxed mood) I played for quite a while and it was super chill. Unfortunately I suck at racing games and so each time I tried to drift I ended up beside the road :D (even though the controls feel pretty good) Still, enjoyed this quite a bit, good job!
What a refreshing little game! The writing is great and made me smile, and the riddles are pretty clever! Also enjoyed the visuals, the music loop is a bit short though. And as stated above, the response time is a bit long sometimes, just a tiny animated typing indicator could maybe already help with this. It's definitely nice to play a jam game and wish it was longer. Doesn't happen too often, but is totally the case here. Great job overall!
Cuteness is certainly over 9000! Art and audio are just adorable! The gameplay works quite well too, was wishing for a bit more content. At least one more level that actually has more than two dimensions (and thus a bit more of a puzzly character) would've been great. Really enjoyed this short romp nonetheless, good job!
A really fulfilling experience! Art and audio are excellent, as usual from the two of you. And the story took me on a journey. I loved it, great entry! (oh and how awesome are Lenny and Leo? best characters in a jam game ever ^^)
Really awesome game all around! Love the visuals and audio and the gameplay is perfect to keep going and fits the theme like a... pin on a board, I guess :). I especially liked the level with the pin in the lightbulb, that was such a nice change to the formula. Greatly enjoyed playing through this, well done!
The keyboard controls somehow also didn't work for me, but I could play with the gamepad, although I could not turn and the cannon was always pointed down. But it worked quite well actually, made it to the (quite abrupt) ending. Controlling the game like this made it more into a game of dodging, but I enjoyed that. The mood of the game is a very nice calm one, the very good art and music support that feeling. Gameplay is quite varied, with different enemy movement patterns and the seaweed collect level. So while this isn't the most exciting game out there, I enjoyed it for it's laid-back character. Well done!
Pretty good shmup you made there! I especially love the fantastic pixelart and animation and the difficulty which feels pretty good (a bit on the easy side maybe, but I like that). A few touches that would've improved the game would be audio, even just some background atmo would go a long way, as well as a parallaxing background (I was quite confused at first as this is such a standard in shmups ^^). And as stated above, I also wished for the game to pause during texts appearing. Also, I was just holding down space all the time, might as well just set it to auto-fire. :) Overall though, this is a really enjoyable game, good job!
A nice, relaxing experience with simple but effective visuals and audio. That water effect really is quite mesmerizing and I just continued playing on and on, until I too got spawn-killed and released from my temporary trance induced by this game :)
Wow, this is amazing! A truly original concept that fits the theme perfectly. It gets pretty stressful and hard at the purple stage, but in a good way. That's the farthest I got so far, is there an actual ending? And if so, have you managed to beat it yourself? :D Audio, visuals and polish are all on a really high level, it just feels great! I could very well see this developed into a full release. It would sit quite well in your catalogue alongside Fine Sweeper :) Some rogue-like or -lite elements and maybe a storyline would probably also suit the game quite well if developed further. Overall, I really enjoyed it and see myself coming back to it, highest marks from me all around!
Wow, that was quite something! The visuals are incredible and the mood dense as anything. The voice-overs are really atmospheric too, but a little too quiet, and some subtitles for them would've been the icing on the cake. The gameplay is fast and frantic, I like it! Some enemies are indeed impossible to see, maybe they could have some small emitting lightsource attached to them. Died to the boss, but had a blast until then! I wish I could've started again right from the boss and finish the game, but was not too inclined to play through everything else again. Overall, a really impressive and polished experience, well done!
Really fun little mining experience! Art and audio are quite cute and awesome and I love the fact that the player character is a grandma :) The movement feels really good, especially the flying up and "elevatoring" down (which I only figured out by accident). It got a bit grindy quite fast but that next upgrade was always in sight, and well, the grind is an appeal in games like this. Overall, I really enjoyed this, great job!
A really dark and depressing game. The gameplay is very repetitive, but I guess that's the point. The music enhances the mood greatly. Visuals are good and fitting too. The camera sometimes went a little crazy at the edge of scenes. I was expecting for the game to end when the depravity bar is full, but we just gotta live a little longer like this, I guess... Overall, a great mood piece, well done!
It's quite the relaxing little mining game, but also feels a bit like work :) The art is nice and the chosen music great. The controls feel a bit sluggish, but good enough. At one point though, I somehow broke the jump, I just couldn't jump anymore... Oh and I often didn't buy the thing I wanted but the one next to it, that a was a bit frustrating. Overall though, I had a good time rolling my trusty cart into that deep mine and playing around with the physics was really fun!
Well, this seems like a nice game, and it has a really peaceful mood due to the nice visuals and music. But unfortunately I couldn't get very far due to the game crashing (once when I pressed X to return, once when I collected the first ore). Apart from that: It seems like the 50 ores you need to collect are just all of the ores? That seems a bit much and might lead to a softlock when teleporting back to much... I'm curious to see where the game goes after the first stage, please let me know when it is more stable and I'll give it another shot :)
Well, expectations subverted, I guess :) You created a really dense atmosphere here, great job on that! The change in visuals and audio is really creeping up. I would've loved to see a more satisfying ending, but it's okay as it is. I'd suggest making the upgrades get bought when clicking on the icon in addition to just the price, that really confused me at first. Also, some little texturing or effect for the water would've been great to inforce the feeling of movement. And continued shooting while holding the button down would've been nice. The flashlight mechanic is pretty awesome though, it made the mining process quite nerve-wrecking! Really enjoyed this overall, great eerie game!
Absolutely stunning art in this game, especially on the title and death screen, but ingame looks great too! The gameplay loop works pretty well and the controls are responsive enough, it just felt good. Really enjoyed this overall, though I must say I get a bad feeling when drilling into such a majestic creature, even if they're already dead...
98%, damn you, you filthy / shiny one sock I missed! That was on my second try, on the first one I got all covered in dirt...
The game plays quite well, but there are a few issues that can probably be fixed easily. First, the player collider seems a bit big, I got hit by dirt when I was sure I dodged it. Maybe make two colliders, a smaller one for the dirt, and the currently used one for the laundry, so it is a bit forgiving. Eventually the cause of this first problem is connected to the second one, and that has to do with rotation and the movement axes. When the tube twists and turns, the movement to the left and right seems to get adjusted to the rotation of the tube, which is really confusing. It seems like the player is moved on a global axis when it should be moved locally.
Apart from that though, it was really fun and just the right amount of challenging to navigate through. The art is also great and quite polished (love the title screen!). Some audio, even just a little bubbly atmo and some collision sounds, would've elevated the mood a lot, but it's already really good in this current state. I especially love the opening sequence of diving into the machine.
So, overall, a really enjoyable game already, with some nice space for further improvements. Well done! And thanks again for your input and feedback for my game! <3
Looks pretty nice and has solid mechanics, but I found the attack a bit frustrating as it often didn't trigger (maybe a bug?). Some music or just atmospheric sound would've greatly enhanced the mood. Overall though, a really solid entry for your first LD, good job!
Really neat little stealth game! The art and animations are very nice, as is the audio accompaniment. Together with the instantly changing camera angles this creates a really dense mood. But those angles are also a little frustrating, as it is easy to get lost and also the change in movement directions can be irritating. I have to add that I haven't played those old Resident Evil games and am thus not used to this. But it might be worth experimenting with short transitions between the angles and see how it feels. Nonetheless, I really enjoyed this eerie game (and came in second on the highscores!), good job overall!
Really cool endless runner! I enjoyed the visuals and music a lot, they are both awesome! The gameplay works quite well too, but there are a few issues. It is a bit down to luck if you survive when falling off a platform, as you cannot see or react to whats below. And there are a lot of pits and stalagmites :) I'd suggest experimenting a bit with the field of view, maybe seeing more would already mitigate this. Also, some kind of reaction when falling down could help, maybe add a double jump and allow one jump while falling down? Enjoyed this a lot nonetheless, it got really quite frantic later on. Good job overall!
Really nice minimalistic game! I dig the art style and audio a lot, it's so little and yet it works so well. It's also quite fun to play, albeit a bit frustrating too. I felt like there were situations where I couldn't possibly have dodged, but maybe that's just my low skill level. I also found myself keeping space pressed all the time and just let it go quickly to dodge, it just felt like I could get farther with this approach, so I'd suggest thinking about inverting the controls maybe.
Thank you all so much for your comments and feedback! <3 Yes, I agree, the controls are rather tricky, especially when playing with two characters, but it is doable and you can also control them one after the other, it's possible to get to the end like this (but very hard and on the giant tree in the end you have to control them simultaneously). And yeah, I wish I had gone with space for jump, as it just is THE button for jumping and I can imagine the confusion well :) In general, I'd recommend using a gamepad, as it feels much better than with a keyboard.
PS: You can also get another player in front of the screen and play in coop, either on the keyboard or (trickier) with the gamepad, it's quite a bit of fun!

A really tough game to "play" (and rate), and delivered in true Daniel Mullins style. It was a very interesting and creative take on the theme and I suffered quite a bit playing it yesterday in the finale of my let's play series: https://youtube.com/watch?v=uyXJf5sh2hE PS: Judging from the comments, I was probably a bit too hasty with quitting (but yeah, can't wait forever on stream...), very interesting to see there's more content to it.
Hands down, this was the game that brought me the most beautiful feelings of all the ones I played this LD! I featured it in the finale of my let's play series: https://youtube.com/watch?v=uyXJf5sh2hE

@quinn-patrick Yes, it was a great relief for me to see the buttons working instead of getting the usual hand cramp when I see Z used in a game :D Really cool that the Unity input system seems to support this! I think I did realize the gun power stacking, maybe not in the heat of the moment (that heat is also increased quite a bit by streaming ^^), but in the back of my head I was still aware, I think. I guess I just didn't really go for it because everything was quite frantic and I just enjoyed the first powerup a lot already :) and maybe also because the pickup items are a bit small and easy to miss when you're in the action.

Thank you so much for your nice comments and feedback! @fabian-denter: There is indeed a stamina system, and it is displayed very subtly, through the circle at the bottom of the screen. It's on my list to give a bit more player feedback about this, but there wasn't enough time, so at the moment it is almost hidden :)
Interesting game all around with nice visuals, audio and gameplay! I liked that you had some cutscenes in there, really cool for a jam game! The combat mechanic was fun, but I wished that attacking would not be on E but rather Space, as using E together with WASD I always had to take one finger away which sometimes resulted in getting hit unnecessarily.
Absolutely wonderful presentation, love the visuals and audio! Gameplay is interesting and fun, but "not quite there yet". It has a lot of potential though and I'm happy to hear that you have quite a few ideas where to go from here already :) The core mechanic of connecting tiles works pretty well, but could benefit from a bit more smoothness when selecting the next tile. Maybe you could try making the collision area of unselected tiles of the same type a bit bigger or something like that. Anyway, I really enjoyed this already and could very well imagine it being developed further into a full game for both desktop and especially mobile. Great job!
Hey @ben-burnes, I'd love to have another look but my week is pretty packed. Maybe next week, I'll leave a tab open for you :)
A very enjoyable idle game with well balanced progression and nice visuals! Really impressive work, especially for a compo entry. SPOILERS INCOMING: I pretty much expected it from a game by you, but was still pleasantly surprised when the "Daniel-Mullins-ness" hit. It really drove the narrative home and I love how you depicted what humankind is doing. Especially the "we have no idea what we're doing but we do it anyway" on other planets. Not sure if this is the intended message but I interpreted it like this... Oh wait, now that I think about it, weren't there alien portraits on the other planets? So maybe it's not just humankind... Anyway, food for thought and the end made me chuckle quite a bit :) PS: I only recently tried Boba for the first time and wow, it really is good stuff :D
The two of you always make such wonderful games! <3 I really like the multiple forms of gameplay you put in there, and especially how they contrast with each other. Audio and visuals are also fantastic as usual, but the story takes the cake here! Great writing, touching (yet humorously presented) subjects and a beautiful resolution, it really gave me all kinds of feelings. Thank you for this lovely experience :)
PS: I have been following you for quite a few years and through many LDs (I think the first one I played was Ripple Runner way back when) and continue to be amazed by your creations. Have you ever thought about bundling some of them up and releasing them as a collection on Steam etc.? I think you could have a lot of success with something like that (and the marketing for games like yours could easily go viral on TikTok and the likes...). Would love to see (and replay) something like this and for you to get all the more widespread acclaim and success you deserve <3
What a lovely, relaxing experience! I really like the presentation, the music probably even more than the visuals, it's just so wonderfully peaceful <3 The gameplay itself is also nice and put me in a flow-like state once my mind grasped the hotkeys. I pretty much never used the overlays anymore from level 3 on, as they kinda distracted from that flow, but they are certainly nice to have! The final level was a bit off-putting in that regard as I couldn't keep up with all the plants, but it was a nice nod to our beloved jam nonetheless. Overall, an awesome, tranquil experience that I enjoyed a lot! Not sure if it lends itself too well for developing further though, as you're a bit between puzzle and casual relaxation here. I for one liked that second aspect more. PS: How great is it that you made an ingame video tutorial? Pretty great, if you ask me, but it's probably pretty obvious for you to do so :) sownreap.png
Solid TD already and a nice foundation to build upon! The game looks good and plays well, some audio would've been great. I would've liked to have the tower selection around the cursor instead of in the corner, it was a bit tedious to move there every time.
Very nice retro visuals and audio and especially the plot twist midway was great! You managed to put quite a few different and interesting enemy behaviours in there and even though I had wished for a tiny bit more range on the attacks, I really enjoyed this one.
Cute little horde survival game with lovely art! I felt really bad harvesting those adorable animals... But otherwise the game was fun! Played until I beat the (first?) boss and had a great time.
This looks and sounds absolutely fantastic and offers quite the big world to explore! Unfortunately, there's just not much to do in this world (yet), but I could very well imagine it being filled with mystery and secrets and more interactions, the wonderfully atmospheric foundation is certainly there! The change of season was a super nice touch, I tried walking on ice and was pleasantly surprised that you even implemented some sliding, super cool :)
An interesting take on Pac-Man! Right now, it is super easy to win, as we can just continue to the next farm when getting into a tight situation. I kinda enjoyed this aspect though, it makes the game more relaxed than it has any right to be :D Some audio would've indeed gone a long way for this game, but it's fine the way it is. Did you know you can opt-out of categories for rating? Would've been advisable to do that for audio in your case.
The visuals are the standout of this game, they are really nice and quite unique! The gameplay is also interesting already in its unfinished state. The controls are maybe a bit to hard, but I think the mechanic of mixing colors in the context of a more action-oriented game could be worth exploring further.
Really interesting game with quite the steep difficulty curve. I managed to get to the boss level, but couldn't beat it. (but I must admit I'm a bit tired today ^^) It would've been awesome to have a mechanic to go back in time turn by turn to figure out where I went wrong. Also, the enemy moves took a bit long, especially the ones who where not moving, could speed this up a bit or have a UI element to switch to "fast mode". The audio and visuals are fun and fit the game well. Really enjoyed this one, great job overall!
Super fun, great visuals and audio and the amount of juice is incredible, love it! I had a jolly good time doing my laps and upgrading until at some point the screen just went black. But by then I had already purchased almost everything, just wanted to do a few more nitro-fueled laps :) It felt like the audience was not really helpful in terms of money compared to harvesting and the amount of money made using harvest skyrocketed towards the end, but it was all in good fun :) PS: Great name for the game too!
Hey Wuppos, always a pleasure to play your creations! I love the visuals in this one and the concept is interesting and reminds me of Into the Breach quite a bit. It feels too much out of my control though, i.e. when a scarecrow spawns on an edge or gets pushed there you can't get it away again (might want to add a flower that pulls stuff!) and I was especially frustrated that I couldn't push the farmers around and ruin their plans, kinda expected to be able to do that. So, overall I still really enjoyed playing around and it has a lot of potential, just not yet fully realized. PS: Enjoyed the audio too, but the music doesn't loop and I think the one sound when it goes into the next phase is a bit annoying :D
This is awesome! I love the very well realized retro-aesthetic in the visuals and audio and especially the many parallels to the Tony Hawk games. Would've been great for the goals to not just disappear but be striked through in the menu to have a better sense of achievement, as well as some more feedback for progress towards goals ingame. Also, I really wanted to do some tricks in the air and grind some rails, but that could just be because of expectations due to the similarities to THPS. And I would've liked a more forgiving time limit for a more chill and playful experience, 50% more would feel good I think. It's interesting to read that your comfort zone is the same as mine and that you also tried to leave it behind this jam. Congrats on being much more successful at this than myself! (I retreated into the zone on day two ^^)
A simple and fun little game! I liked the idea of getting heavier more than actually playing like this, as being super slow didn't feel so great :D This mechanic made it just not really viable to go for flowers further away. Also, the flowers respawned very quickly. Sometimes this happened just beneath the player, which unwillingly increased the weight. And even though I said I didn't really like the heavy feeling too much, these moments were some of the best, because they come as a surprise and kinda mess up the players plans, which is great :) I think it could be more fun if you just increased the numbers a bit, let the player carry more and decelerate less quickly. PS: Really liked the happy music!
The pixel art ist amazing! Some more visible effect of the oncoming storm would've been great though. As others have already stated, collisions are sometimes a bit suboptimal. The music is nice and adds to the atmosphere, but could've benefitted from a bit more variation / a longer loop. Would've loved to have a bit more to do in this game, but it was fun wandering around this world anyway. Good job overall!
Pretty fun game but also kinda frustrating :D I feel like the vehicle falls over too quickly and that it would be more fun if we could go a bit faster and not worry so much about that. I never managed to get very far in the game, just a shield and missile was the most I got until I got killed again and again. Still though, I kept trying, the motivation spiral is certainly there and going strong! And the game is just a really nice whole and the enemy AI works well (too much so almost ^^) You managed to put quite a lot of stuff in there and create an enjoyable game, congrats!
I love games that combine active and passive elements and this is a very nice example of that! The visuals and audio are very good and it was just enjoyable watching the little gnomes do their thing. One term that comes to my mind is "wuselig", like in the old Settlers games :) I wished there was more in the late game, especially some ending and different kinds of dragons. It's a game with a high score, but it's very hard to actually get defeated from some point on. Still, I really enjoyed playing up until a score of around 40k and too many upgrades to count :D Great job overall!
Really good game with nice visuals and great audio! The boss had a lot of health for my taste and could've used some more feedback on how much was left, at some point during the fight I thought there had to be another way to defeat it. The way back was quite nerve-wrecking, the flying enemies are pretty annoying, but in a nicely challenging way. Made it out just barely with one heart left and really enjoyed this!
Interesting game with a really nice art style! At the moment, the movement doesn't feel super great, but with some more tweaking I think you could get to something really fun. Like others have already said, faster and less weighty might be the way to go. Still really enjoyed this already and I was so nervous when I had to take the leap of faith right before the end, that was a super cool moment!
What an awesome game! I loved the creative diversity of the levels, always a pleasant surprise ahead! Really cool visuals and audio also. One of the best entries I played so far this LD, great job!
Hey Wuppos, I didn't get around to playing your game during the jam, but definitely wanted to give it a try and just did so. It's a very good looking game with a wonderful atmosphere that I really enjoyed! The gameplay is quite simple, but like you said in your postmortem, that's something helpful to aim for in a jam, to have enough time to get all that sweet polish in, which you totally did :) The biggest issue is the cam follow: I guess the camera follows the player, because that sprite is stable, while the whole world and the arrows, which are the focus of the players eyes, are stuttering. I always forget how to do this, but there is a way in Unity to make this work without the stutter or just the player stuttering (which in this case would be acceptable). Either try moving the cam in LateUpdate or using CineMachine, and definitely not parented to the player or following its position directly, but rather moving at the same speed as the player. Still, this is a wonderful game that I really suck at :D Great job overall!
PS: Thank you so much for the nice review on Recollection <3
Had a lot of fun with this one and really enjoyed the evolving level design! The package throw-dash-catch mechanic was a very nice implemention of the theme, I'd just have wished for it to be a bit more forgiving, thus making me as the player feel awesome more often :) Great job overall!
Awesome looking game that plays well together! We had some issues with the controls though, they seemed quite unresponsive at times, i.e. sometimes we couldn't jump and at other times the characters slowed down or were moved in a direction without pressing a button, like some invisible wind was blowing. Would be even more fun without these problems, but it's already pretty nice as it is :)
A very unfinished entry, but an interesting foundation. The core mechanic of balancing stuff that doubles as building blocks is interesting and has some potential. Would've loved to see some graphics instead of the white boxes, that could've been quite hilarious. The game could go in many directions (trade, rage-game, building), I'd encourage you to try to make this into a more complete experience.
Solid game! I liked the navigation through the maze and the upgrades. It felt a bit unfair at times when the triangle was very far away and at max speed upgrades, it was hard to get around corners. Would've loved to be able to have multiple deliveries active at the same time (maybe adding one per city upgrade). That way, it could've been more interesting to find the best possible path to go. On my second run, the triangles were always behind the gray sprites. This made them much harder to find, but added an interesting hidden object angle to the game that could be worth exploring further. Some audio would've greatly improved the experience.
Interesting base idea. Most choices came naturally to me, but some were a bit tricky. Could use some more gameplay mechanics and show some implications of our work, and I didn't understand why I got a penalty.
Looks really good, especially the backgrounds! Gameplay has a nice arcady feel to it, but is also quite hard and feels a bit unfair at times. It would've been great to be able to jump for some extra mechanical flavor and getting through some otherwise impossible random combination of obstacles.
Such a simple concept, but surprisingly enjoyable! In the first few levels I was like "this is easy", but then there were suddenly a lot of numbers to check or remember and it got quite challenging. I really love games like this, that have a very easy to grasp mechanic and put it into a nice and well-rounded package that also fits the theme so well, great job overall!
Pretty fun and funny game! I already laughed at the beginning, the story panels are a super nice touch! The gameplay is quite entertaining too, but I imagine it could be even better if there was just a bit more space to maneuver around (gotta adhere to the theme though!) Really enjoyed playing this one all the way to the end, good job!
Really fun game with very nice visuals and audio! I enjoyed the non-standard controls and the attack-speed-powerup felt really good (together with the juicy camera movements) Made it to level 14 in the end. It sometimes felt impossible to dodge and I was almost always at minimum HB, quite the nail-biting and engaging experience overall!
Super solid foundation to potentially extend upon! The movement felt pretty smooth and I really liked the gameplay and visuals. After the second level I felt like there was nothing new coming anymore, so I let myself get killed. I could imagine this becoming a really cool game with some more content. Especially the upgrades are a bit lackluster at the moment, some improvements to player stats like speed and damage and giving more abilities to the drone would be great. Still, already enjoyed this quite a bit as it is, good job!
Awesome all around! Really creative, unique and immediately understandable core mechanic. I also love the visuals and the music in the beginning, super atmospheric! Unfortunately the music stopped at some point and it was a bit quiet for the rest of the game, but I think this is the only thing I can criticise :)
Really good game! I enjoyed the movement and the music the most, but it is a pretty complete package, great job! I would've expected to die when I got very tiny. It didn't happen, but something else did: Navigating actually became harder as I could barely see my current direction visually, which is a nice side-effect. Another option to make the risk-reward aspect of the game more interesting would be to increase damage taken when the ship gets smaller. That way, the player has to make a choice, which could be interesting. Just an idea :)
@funemaker My pleasure, congrats on making it over the threshold!
Always a pleasure to play your games and this one is no exception. Really nice visuals, storytelling and music that form an enjoyable and cohesive package overall. Some minor criticism: I saw very few typos and the limited space mechanic only mattered once for me. Still, it always felt like I should look out for my inventory space, which I guess is even better than being forced to leave something behind all the time!
Nice and easy to grasp game, but surprisingly hard to actually win. I tried quite a few times and didn't manage to do so, but had a good time along the way, well done! Would be cool to have some more different ways to keep the goo in check.
Cute and fun game with nice visuals and wonderful audio! It was a bit buggy for me though, which could lead to some frustration: I sometimes didn't eat donuts but moved them through the level, the boxes sometimes didn't trigger and once I fell out of the level.
Pretty interesting core gameplay mechanic! Took me some time to get used to and it is a bit tedious, but I still enjoyed this quite unusual approach to movement as well as the dialogue and the whole spacey atmosphere of the game. Maybe if you managed to make the movement a bit more fluent or snappy, this could be something to explore further. Might be well suited as a coop game even? (without having to switch between the characters)
Nice entry all around! I really liked the art style, the music and putting the statues together. The platforming feels a bit too fast and unforgiving though, you might want to try out some different speed / gravity values there for a smoother experience. I also would've liked to be able to enter levels multiple times for a more chill experience. And exiting the levels through the portal without any pieces collected should probably not be possible? Overall though, really enjoyable entry, good job!
I like the visuals and the unpredictability of the throw mechanic is quite fun. I think the game would've benefitted from having some kind of crosshair, as picking up items was a bit frustrating at times due to missing visual feedback of what can be picked at a given time (if anything at all)
Solid foundation! I liked the visuals and the dark mood. I also couldn't exit the second room so that's when I stopped playing. Would've loved to see some attack feedback like damage particles on the enemies, and the sound for the attack was really loud. Thinking about it, you could actually do without any attack button, just have the weapon always be damaging and the challenge is to swing it in the right direction.
What a wonderful journey! It really is a unique and very enjoyable blend of genres. The art style is magnificent and the music is really great. Thank you for this magical and inspiring game!
Really nice game with well working mechanics. It was just fun to jump to the beat and chain those jumps together. The artstyle is quite nice and the music is great. Not much to complain about, good job overall!
Really nice idea and execution! I also didn't have another player around and played against myself, but that already shows that this game could be a lot of fun. Nice music and visuals also, just needs some lootboxes with better players inside :) Good job overall!
Very nice music and visualization, quite hypnotizing actually. Obviously not much of a game, but really good in its own right. I sat in front of it for quite some time :) One minor thing: When there was more going on it was hard to see the melody lines. PS: May I ask which plugins you used for the music?
Neat little game! The visuals are very cute, the music is quite nice, but some sounds are a little annoying. I think it's a good thing that there is no lose condition, because the randomness of the peoples movement could've made it pretty frustrating. This randomness also lessens the puzzle aspect of the game. Most levels I'd just spam traps near the spawn point. To make it more puzzly the player would probably have to know more about the movement of the people. I had a great and relaxing time with the game anyway, good job overall!
This game is just so relaxing! Just watching the little dudes jump around is already fun. The best parts, and the ones that could be doubled down on if you plan to develop this further, are the terraforming and the "I-just-do-whatever-the-f***-I-want"-AI. In the current state, some audio and ingame-story/-tutorial would've been nice to have. Overall, I like this quite a bit, great work!
Really like this game, the friendly combat is definitely a big plus and works quite well. The visual style is also really cute. As others mentioned, it's kinda hard to determine the hit zone of the texts, maybe you could add a slight indicator like a semi-transparent sprite to visualize it. I could imagine this game being even more amusing and charming with some voice acting. Overall, I enjoyed it quite a bit, good job!
Pretty interesting mix of genres and it actually works quite well! I didn't mind the low speed at the beginning too much, because it soon built up. What bothered me more was the slow acceleration and deceleration / driving backwards, if you turned up that value I think the game could be a lot more fun. Speaking of which, it was really fun to unlock the different upgrades and the bosses are a welcome change of pace. Unfortunately I was not able to beat the witch boss (tried three times) and gave up on it, but the rest of the game was really fun. Somehow the absence of audio was more noticeable in this game than in others, maybe because you just expect to hear some kind of motor sound. Anyway, it is a really neat game as it is and I think if you improve and polish it a little more it could become something very special. Good job overall!
A really fun, creative and good looking game! It's kinda over to the top in many regards and I like that a lot :)
Really awesome game! The mechanics are very well combined and really fun. The visuals are minimalistic but beautiful for that particular style. Like others said, getting to the first checkpoint is really hard and might scare off a lot of people. I managed to do it after 6 or 7 tries and the game opens up beautifully afterwards. I played it for quite some time (around 20 mins), but did not finish it for two reasons: 1. My shooting finger got quite exhausted, it would|ve been awesome to just be able to hold down the button and continuously shoot (and map the charge shot to some other button). Speaking of this, please support different keyboard layouts, having Y be the main interaction button is really hard for people with qwertz or azerty keyboards. 2. I got lost and didn't know where to go next. A map would've been incredibly helpful.
Nevertheless I enjoyed this game a great deal and it's just extremely impressive for a compo entry. Amazing!
Hey there! This is a solid foundation for what could become a very interesting game, but it needs a lot more fleshing out to become playable. First of all it would be necessary for the catapults to have any effect at all, this could already change the game a lot for the better (some aiming mechanic would maybe be nice too). Secondly it felt a little tedious to pick and use the parts one by one. I see a lot of potential here for a neat combination of tower defense, survival and possibly more stuff like crafting or city management. At the moment though, the game is in a very rough state, but still impressive for having only began to learn the engine used. I'm curious to see if and how you develop this game further.
EDIT: What I meant with picking and using the parts one by one was not the bag size, but having to press space for every single one of them instead of being able to pick something like 10 parts at once :)
Really creative combination of genres! Obviously all the elements are only implemented on a very basic level, but they already work together quite well and could easily be extended upon with more platform/threat types, multiple ways to reach the goal and some more idle game mechanics like upgrades. I already have a picture in my head of a game that I'd love to play and that could possibly be the first ever competitive clicker game :) Also, the visuals are really pleasant. Great job overall!
Pretty unique combination of genres and it works really well and is also quite polished. Really liked the visual style and the game was overall very fun to play, good job!
It's a neat idea and a solid foundation for a very interesting game, but there are some bugs and problems ruining the fun a little bit: (I played the bugfixed version) - I did not know how I took damage. The zombies always followed me, but as far as I could tell didn't touch me, still I took damage. Maybe it was damage to the buildings, but there was no feedback for this and overall I had no idea how to prevent damage. - The game does not reset correctly after death, the number of used spaces stays the same as in the previous run and I could not build anything. - It would be nice to be able to buy ammo multiple times without leaving and re-entering the town hall.
Overall though, I enjoyed the game and played through it (won on day 33/10, so there's another small bug ^^), good job!
How does this game not have enough ratings yet? This is just totally awesome! Love the concept, the visuals and the audio. You should really develop this further and put it on the market, I think. High marks all around!
Really interesting game! I liked the mechanics, most of the visuals and the mood created. And I laughed pretty hard when I heard that line where you coughed :) Unfortunately the game is a little buggy, the platforming could use some polish and most of the enemy moves don't really matter too much. But this all stuff that can be fixed and improved upon. Overall, I enjoyed this quite a bit and managed to finish it on the second try. Good job overall!
The gameplay feels quite nice and fast, but there is not much apart from that. It is a solid foundation though that you could build upon, by adding more enemy types and upgrades etc. I had fun playing it, good job!
PS: I think you should consider opting out of the Graphics rating, if you didn't make most of the assets yourself.
@antti-haavikko You're probably right. Well, it's up to the creator to decide, I was just suggesting to consider it :)
Looks, feels and sounds awesome! Also the humor is quite nice. Although I'm neither good at rhythm nor typing games, I enjoyed this a lot. Good job overall!
Such an atmospheric game, wow. Although there is not much to do, the dark story and mood kept my interest high until the end. Really liked the use of the growing dithering at the edge of the screen. Great job overall! (PS: I had a little bug where the fishing line got stuck in the bottom left corner of the screen and I could not move it anymore and had to restart the game)
Great combination of genres! Had a lot of fun playing this, it works really well and the changed perspective is a true eye-opener. The visuals and sounds are nice, some music would've been great. Unfortunately I got a little frustrated in the level where you have to climb up ladders while avoiding shots, it was kinda hard for me to get the timing right and especially to predict the height of the bullets, so I died over and over and gave up... Nevertheless I enjoyed this a lot, great job!
Interesting combination of genres, however the game desperately needs sound! It would make it just so much better. Otherwise it works pretty well, but I would suggest trying to only (but always) move enemies when you miss a beat (or let it slip), this could maybe add some more excitement to the game. I think the tempo of the game is alright if you extend on the aspect of planning ahead, because otherwise it could be overwhelming. Enjoyed this overall, good job!
Really well executed combination of two seemingly incompatible genres! The mechanics work pretty well. At first I thought "hey, this is easy, I just have to adjust the trajectory so that it is all green", but no, some planning ahead is also necessary, which is great. The visuals are obviously quite simple, but they do their job. Overall, I enjoyed this, good job!
This is an awesome combination of genres, it's really, really fun! The AI is a little too strong for me, but I could imagine this being an amazing (local) multiplayer game. I laughed to much when the ball hit a mine, there's just so much potential in this idea. Great job overall!
This is freakin' fantastic! The art style is so awesome and well executed, the music is great and the humor is hilarious. I laughed more than a few times and I love it when games surprise me, which you certainly did. Nothing to complain about, just an all around awesome game!
Very neat game! The controls feel really good and the visuals are nice. The two genres are not really that present though. Racing would need something more of a feeling of acceleration, braking and steering, at the moment it just feels like dodging (but it feels good in that regard). Maybe you could also add in some indestructable objects that just pass by. Also the tower defense part is really simple, without being able to build towers yourself and place them. On the other hand though, all this would've probably made the game too complicated. It is fun and nice as it is and I enjoyed playing it, good job overall!
