Sooo... this is probably a me issue, but my laptop has a resolution of 2880 by 1920, which is not an aspect ratio of 16:9. This means that there's a grey bar stuck to the bottom of the screen. This wouldn't be a huge deal, except it looks like however you're calculating your direction to mouse depends on the aspect ratio of the screen? In Godot, you can get the mouse position by calling the `get_global_mouse_position()` on a 2D or UI node. If you're already doing that, I don't exactly know what to do. An easy fix to the aspect ratio problem is by setting `Project Settings > Window > Mode` to `canvas_items` Again, sorry if you're already aware of all of this, but sometimes the squeaky wheel gets the grease.
I really liked the art! I'm a sucker for dragons, but the town was cool looking too. The concept was neat, but it was hard to get into because of the aforementioned screen issues.
I'll check back in a few days to see if anything's been fixed :)
FYI, after the loading screen, the music starts playing and then there's just a black screen in Win10.
Cute little toy :) I wish I would have more controls over what is happening and have to make decisions beyond what upgrade to buy, which becomes a bit irrelevant after a little while. But it's a nice effort!

Played on Linux, and all worked perfectly! After dying a few times, I got the hang of it. After getting 100+ in most Power-Ups I concluded there might not be a winning screen..

I found the cannon to be very hard to aim, especial on the lover part of the screen, and after updating the speed of the cannonball.
Liked the graphics, the polished menu and the simple mechanics :) Great job

I can't handle so much polish! :O Every part of this game is very well put together, loed the art style, the music, the sound effects, so the whole amosphere... and fighting off dragons while improving my economy was a really good core mechanic. And there are even options! :O Maybe the cannon could have been sligthly better, because it was hard to hit close targets. But that was just a minor issue for me.
I think its only flaw is the difficulty. I booted up the game, had a lot of fun at the early stages... but after a while it was just too easy. After I reached a decent movement speed for my workers, and I had 3-4 upgrades on my cannon (no more was needed), all I had to do is to spam clicking on dragons and on gnome upgrades. And I think my colleagues were starting to become annoyed by my furious clicking. :D
Which meant that my score was getting higher and higher, but sadly I optimised out the amotsphere of the game :D I had to say goodbye to a relatively chill, medieval ambience, and say hello to the flashing gnome sprites and hectic gnome sounds. And say goodbye to my mouse's left button. :D
So after reaching 90K, I just sat back and watched the carnage. It took a decent 2 minutes or so for my empire to collapse. It was gorgeous! :D
Overall, it's a nice addition to the Pixelverse, and finally we've got the origin story we deserved: Now we know why Gerard is so mad in Rampage. Very nice entry, keep up the good work! :)
Really liked the music and the effort in all the visuals! it crashed on me first when my only guy died but then played again and broke the game for basically infinite score so the balancing might be off but the game is fun and cool!
Interesting take on the theme! However I did get to a place where it was essentially impossible to lose, so I ended up letting the dragons destroy my village just to end the game. Another kind of end condition would be nice (like a final big dragon you have to defeat or something) but I know you didn't have a lot of time. Overall, nice work and great team!
I noticed the music volume doesn't seem to change with the options slider also

Cute artstyle, good gameplay and matching music - a really solid entry. Did i see the sheep from your LD46 Entry "Rampage" as a easter egg in the game ? :D One thing what i missed would be a small intro or tutorial what should i do :D But in the rush of the LDJam i also did none so i shoul not "throw stones if i sit in the glashouse" :D

Is it a coincidence or just a bit of dark humor that most of the gnomes die near the cemetery? :)
Honestly, it was so satisfying to just sit there and meditate, listening to medieval music, clicking dragons and watching gnomes running at supersonic speed. I wanted to break the game, but didn't succeed at that, your programming skills are way too strong for me, @lilou-cormic! I wish the game was harder, because right now it's not obvious why one should even bother upgrading the cannon. Also, it looks like if you have a lot of gnomes, they end up having nothing to do and just chilling in the tower, which is fine. By the end of the game I realized that by scrolling the mouse wheel, you can access the burst fire mode. :D
But holy cow, the amount of polish you put in the game is jaw-dropping! Different sounds for different buttons, custom cursors, music, little easter eggs (hi, Remy!), impressive art work. Epic quality!
Here's my little playthrough (it's the second one, I messed up the first ). It ends abruptly, because the game decided to crash and keep several gnomes alive (yay!). https://youtu.be/mT_jhiuKjkQ
Love the art and sound effects in this game! Unfortunately the game is not very challenging especially late in the game.
Really liked this game! Nothing bad to say about it really except the fact that for me the music slider didn't work anywhere except the settings menu.
Great game!
Excellent game. It was very cool early on altough i felt the game became way too easy in the late game so, something too up the difficulty later on would be nice. I also encountered what i assume is a glitch where after a while my newly built delivery lads wouldnt get out of the tower anymore. Still i had a great time and i wish this was a full game
@flashviper Thank you for playing! That's good to know, I'll pass it on an mention @lilou-cormic here, just in case ๐
@splitpainter Oh dear! Thanks for the heads-up!
@elflashor Thank you! As you might have guessed: Time ran out and we ran short on testing and especially balancing ๐
@incd021 Thanks for playing, great to learn that it works on Linux! And you're right, there's no winning screen, only a Game Over screen that shows your score and previous high score. I also had some troubles with aiming but that might be due to my 3-monitor setup with different resolutions ๐
@tudvari Wow, what a ride you've been on! Glad you found the time to write such an in-depth comment! I think we erred on making it too easy (the lack of time for balancing didn't help ๐
), hope your colleagues don't hold the clicking against you! And huge congrats on reaching 90k ๐คฏ!! And yes, that is, of course, the little ram from a previous PixelProphecy game. Like I said on Discord: It's all connected ๐ต
@raindrinker Thank you so much! Yeah, the balance is a bit off due to the lack of time for tweaking, hope you still enjoyed it until it got too easy ๐
@mateusboga Thank you! That's a great idea with the end boss. i wish I could say that this was our idea and we ran out of time, but ewe never considered having some sort of closure, we envisioned it as more of an arcade-y experience...
@neowhoru Right you are, that really *is* Rรจmy grazing, @lilou-cormic put that in last minute once it was clear that there was no time to add him as an enemy. And throwing stones is fair; after all that's our core mechanic, in a sense ๐
@yngvarr Wow thank you for recording your playthrough! I see you were thrown off initially by the unfortunate placement of the brambles on the top right path. Also I learned that I should have made the sound for the gnomes passing the HQ shorter/less annoying but watching you spam the burst mode was truly something! ๐คฃ Congrats also on apparently surpassing @tudvari 's score before the crash.
@ludumdaredevil Thank you so much! Yeah, there wasn't enough time for proper balancing. Personally I like it better when an unbalanced game ends up being too easy than too frustrating. I hope you still had a couple of enjoyable minutes with it ๐
@zyapimstudios That's so nice, thank you! Also for the bug report regarding the slider ๐

Very cute game. At first very relaxed, getting incredibly busy with more and faster dwarfs.
I needed to laugh because the game just crashed the first time when my only dwarf died with that "ough" sound xD
I'm also a bit sad that I couldn't have more than 4 dwards running around at the same time or so since my aim was to crowd the entire screen with them. But it was probably a good decision since at very fast speed, it's really likely that they will catch a dragon instead of a dragon catching them.
It felt more like an unlimited sandbox-y game since there were no limits for the upgrades and I had very much fun. Sadly I could not come to the point, where I would only keep buying dwarfs and they would bring in new money fast enough without needing to shoot these beautifully animated beasts of fire.
I think I had very much fun with that entry. Great job!
Here a picture of my highscore: Screenshot 2023-05-03 233307.png
Minute 1: Cute game. Good audio and graphics Minute 10: The gnomes have mastered the speed force and choose to run in front of the dragon to taunt him
Great game but I'm a little disappointed I couldn't blow up the sheep

A very fun game. Nice art style and cute little sound effects. Only issue I had was the aiming of the cannonballs seemed to be a bit off, especially when aiming towards the left-side of the screen (was playing in fullscreen mode). But otherwise, excellent work!
Nice game! It curious, that someone made TD-like game on jam, I love this genre! Also art and music very cute.

Loved the game!!! The automated gnomes while trying to deal with dragon threat is a really neat idea. Lots of ways to develop this further and build on this base loop. Good job! Thought also that the design was so great that no explanation was needed, to me it was super clear what I was supposed to do. The icons for upgrades/etc, were also easily understandable in my opinion.
The transition from the first screen to the title screen was very fast, maybe too much so. Also could not see an option to exit/close the game.
I had a goal of getting 100 sped up gnomes, so I ended up with quite a lot going on in the screen, lots of dead gnomes, fast shooting cannon balls and so on. Was hilarious and I loved the experience! Wanted to post a screenie here, but sadly the screenshot was only made of the title screen and not gameplay itself (not sure why)
Very cute! As everyone said above, the game becomes way too easy as soon as we have a cannonball speed of 20+. Having more than 5 gnomes is also useless as soon as they are fast enough.
Took me a while to understand we could blow up obstacles.
@jim-jagers Thank you for playing! Yes, the balance is a little off because of lack of time for tweaking. And thanks for the bug-report! ๐
@fernofai Sorry the game crashed the first time around but at least it did it in a fun way? ๐ฌ๐
I think we should have leaned more into the Lemmings vibe of having all the roads be swarming with gnomes. And you're right, the game was intended to be arcadey in the sense that at a certain point it would kill you but that rarely happens past a certain point ๐
Congrats on your hi-score and thanks for posting! ๐
@bangkerpow Thank you for playing and sharing the video. "Explosive sheep" goes right on top of the critical features list! ๐. And weird why the gnomes got stuck in the HQ tower, no matter how many you recruited ๐ค Maybe @lilou-cormic can look into this?
@digital-bacon Thanks for playing and the feedback! I think Godot shows some issues when you're having more than one screen, especially when it's of a different resolution? For examples, the screenshots I took were 1/4 of the screen size, upside down, and flipped ๐คช
@darchankaen Thank you, glad you liked our take on tower defense! ๐
@aile Thank you so much for playing and your feedback! Glad that you knew what to do in the game without a tutorial (which we couldn't have implemented in time anyway ๐
) No worries about the lost screenshot, I can clearly imagine the hilarity of a super-sonic gnome workforce stepping over their fallen while huge cannon balls fly everywhere ๐
@paul-maxime Thanks for playing! Yeah, the obstacles are a bit under-explained but from what I have seen most players either 1) realized it at some point, or 2) didn't care and the game was still enjoyable ๐
I really enjoyed this one. I really like the painted style art used for the game. It looks like you got a lot of the mechanics of the game implemented, and it was easy to pick up. It did seem like the spawn rate took too long to ramp up. I was able to get the stats pumped up pretty high before the spawn rate of the dragons picked up. It also seemed like you were planning on having additional enemies, because the base level damage was enough to take out the dragon, so there was no point to increase that stat. I would probably make the cost of the stat level increase as the level does as well. Overall, I really love this game, and think it just needs some game balancing. Very well done!
that's a really satisfying game, kudos to you! --- the bullet function is cheesable --- quickly I realised I could just shoot all 3 systematically which would make it like 95% lilely I'd hit the target ^^# --- also there seems to be a de facto hard limit on the number of gnomes you can have: above 7 the additional gnomes just remain on their spawn point --- but it really works and is fun and yeah --- great experience thanks for sharing :grinning: :sparkles:
I am AWESOME. This game is sooo coooollll love the dragonsssss love the levelllll where do the paths go that run offscreeeeeen i'm dying to know. i beat this thing like first try and that is what makes this very accessible. Th early game balance is amazing and then the late game is loads of clicking. I was a clicking fiend. Ended up with balzillions of Nybbles. hee hee
This was a blast to play. IMO the perfect kind of game for a gamejam.
I have a widescreen monitor, so the game was off to the left, with a black space filling my screen to the right after what I assume was 1080 pixels. I think Godot has an option for screen sizing that would make sure the game stayed centered, and might fix any screen coordinate breakage. I don't mind the black space to be clear, it would be nice to have it distributed equally on either side of my screen though :P
With that said: Great work! Aspect ratios are a pain, and after several LDs I'm still trying to improve how I deal with them
This was a great little game, very fun, adorable and quirky, I loved the art and music! Very well executed!

I love games that combine active and passive elements and this is a very nice example of that! The visuals and audio are very good and it was just enjoyable watching the little gnomes do their thing. One term that comes to my mind is "wuselig", like in the old Settlers games :) I wished there was more in the late game, especially some ending and different kinds of dragons. It's a game with a high score, but it's very hard to actually get defeated from some point on. Still, I really enjoyed playing up until a score of around 40k and too many upgrades to count :D Great job overall!
