LD39 — Running out of Power

Tycoon by dob 2017-08-03T14:55:46Z

OMG this is the most fun I've had playing this jam's games so far ^^ It's really fun! It would work better with spheres (or like cylinders, you know?) for the system you set up but I mean the cubes get stuck and that's part of the challenge innit ^^? Really fun, really enjoyable, really made me giggle, god job sir!

Power Planner by Micito 2017-08-05T16:41:32Z

I was really attracted by the game's cute looks but I don't really get the gameplay... It looks like a simcity-like and I was also a bit disappointed by how little control we have over the city [compared to a simcity-like]. In my opinion, keep the cute looks... improve the rest? Game design is the most lacking area IMO, though a soundtrack also wouldn't hurt. Anyhow, you got me to try your game, that's a start :D

Defend Home: Mars by sgt3v 2017-08-03T15:29:35Z

For a first FPS and all on your own, considering the time scale, this is really impressive! Beyond this context, I feel that it's a bit bland. After a while the challenge is to get enough ammo drop to continue killing the big ants and that's about it, the enemy spawn points are really predictable. But what's for sure is that it's a really good base to base your future FPS games on. Nicely done!

Spacy adventure by egordorichev 2017-08-03T15:38:28Z

That's a crazy good game m8! I'm not into bullet hells but it had that propa oldschool feel - IDK if it's fo real or if you emulated that but even just that message that's like "loading game" or whatnot at the very start is so cool! Loved it good job m8!

Tank Battle ! by lavwa 2017-08-03T15:18:21Z

The scope of this game in the context of a game jam is bonkers - not sure just how you made it happen but kudos to you sir! I really enjoyed that!

Devious Plant Commando by Marcenat 2017-08-03T12:33:46Z

Pretty neat! I'd suggest an option to swap the WASD keys for the ZQSD ones for moving around, else it's pretty challenging on an Azerty keyboard ^^# I didn't realize that the enemies get resistant to one type of ammo until I read it on the page after my playthrough, it's a shame that this is not shown in-game because I believe it's an interesting concept.

Sublunar Vessel by Hempuli 2017-08-05T17:39:58Z

I have a hard time believing you did this game all on your own in only 72 hours - it's super solid mate! There could be improvements made in the realms of soundtracks and balancing but that's minor, it's the most developped and interesting game I've seen in this jam so far, I tip my hat to you sir! Really enjoyed it!

Electric Neon by kamikaziuk 2017-08-03T14:16:00Z

Full 3D world in 72 hours is pretty incredible - also racing game (sorta) for a change! The controls are challenging but original - my main criticism would be that it doesn't technically stick with the theme so much - but good one. Loving the synthwave style or whatnot ^^

Plug Me by hav24 2017-08-03T13:56:26Z

Very enjoyable, good job! It's really polished and everything, how do you do it all on your own in only 72 hours!?

For The Wind by RIBOUT Horace 2017-08-16T09:53:54Z

Really amazing! I'd have 3 main criticisms:

-the part with the hidden stairs and the balloons you have to activate so they light the way to follow is really beautiful and poetic but because of the controls and the way the playable character reacts to the player's imputs (it's a bit unpredictable and has momentum - not snappy enough IMO), it's really awkward and frustrating to play through (unfortunately)

-I don't get the part at the far right of the playable area after the slope that makes you accelerate like crazy: there's a step that's slightly too high to jump, effectively making it the end of the level [as far as I know]. Was that left so as an end-of-level because of the time limit? Or am I really stupid ^^#? I wish it was a tad clearer [I get insecure :-3]

-it's really really awesome and rewarding to light up the whole town [and neon lights and stuff :-3] but it's a shame that there isn't more to it than that... though I understand that's because of the time frame for making the game once again, in the long run I'd argue that it lacks one big overarching goal

And that's that, I'm done with ranting [for now ^^#]! I really loved it, the mechanics are interesting, the whole experience is smooth, the "electricity" effects on the main playable character are really well-made and OMG how the hell did you do that in like 36 hours, right ^^#? I also really loved the colours, especially at the far right of the playable area. Here's one more little concept-demo that would really deserve to be fleshed out one day... good job :D

TITAN, Defend Earth before it's too late by MichaelTWG 2017-08-03T14:26:36Z

I found it very challenging to control (I keep on falling off when I jump ^^#) but original. It would be interesting to add some depth so the challenge goes beyond seeing how many enemies you can destroy with the ammo given to you at the start of the game without falling to your death - but for a game jam it's a solid concept, well done :D

LD40 — The more you have, the worse it is

One Button Hero by Taldius 2017-12-06T12:58:07Z

This game is flipping amazing ^^# I really enjoyed that. A lot of good ideas in here! The automatic saves, for example. It's just really enjoyable and well-done! I'd say to try to be a little critical that "One Button Hero" is a little bit misleading... but all in all this is a damn good game, good job youg guys, respect :-O <3

Kitchen Things by wrexialmt 2017-12-06T14:13:45Z

This is pretty good - hard but fun. there is no game over screen it seems, just a point at which I got stuck I couldn't move anymore out of the kitchen but all the sounds and waiting bars of the customers continued going down. That's a shame but if you had no time to implement the "game over" I understand ^^#

I find moving the character is frustrating. Because he's slow. And there are so many obstacles in the way. And you're in a hurry! So I get this is the point but still I find it a bit more frustrating than it should be.

Anyhow, nice fute funny quite well-polished little game, good job you guys :)

Smash! Smash! Destroy the West! Jangnanmon! by pudding 2017-12-05T04:47:03Z

Here's my feedbacks: from the start its really handy you can download an unzipped .exe, straightforward, nice the cover picture at the top of this page is super pro-looking, congratulate the graphist for me if you can :D antivirus was a pain but that wasn't a blocking issue soon as the game actually starts, the wall of text is a bit steep IMO I read a total of 0 text for the whole game ^^# a lot of skip it may be a good thing - then I can rediscover the game later on because it turned out to be good <3 But in general yeah there is way too much text

then the actual actual gameplay at the start it's a bit overwhelming then punishing then forgiving then I won level one thinking the way to win is just use all your points fully all the time then lost level 2 with this strategy in the end

and then there was that dictator from north korea that made me lol

1st Ludum Dare 40 game I play so far and I really liked it Congrats! I hope you get a good grade

Take care have a good night of sleep take care :-3

SUPER COP HERO by Finlal 2017-12-06T14:03:17Z

This is rather good, professional-looking, awesome polish.

There is a little problem with the full scree button on the HTML5 version, here's what it looks like on my PC: whitestuff.png

Now most of all, there is 1 little problem you forgot about: French people ---> Azerty keyboards.

You didn't add the arrow keys in the controls, and even if you did, arrow keys + "R" key for reload would be a problem (the keys are too far appart and they can only be reached with 1 hand because the game uses the mouse). It's extremely important to take that into consideration in a game that's quite punishing: one hit = instant kill. If I have to dodge the enemy bullets but that I have to chose btween not being able to use the "up" key OR having to twist my hand to do so, well... it'll lead me to play just 2 minutes instead of 20 so its a shame.

You should fix this! French people are worth it! They are cool! Heck, I should know!

Good game tho, take care :)

Fungus Among Us by Lukuluk 2017-12-06T13:40:21Z

First of all, be careful, your itch.io link doesn't work dontwork.png

OK so I played the game. And oh my word. This is a really really really good game! I was on there for like 10 minutes solid! This is maybe the 6th that I tested so far but it is actually the best game I played so far!

It is incredibly good and satisfying! The one problam is lag ^^# lag.png

Maybe this is not a very good pic but when youve increased your base sped and damage per hit you can just go through the "cloud" of mushrooms that are following you, hit them, move around so you're too fast to hit, and kill like 10~20 of them in a row. It's really satisfying! BUT then they respawn and recombine and eveything - and that makes my pc lad like 1 frame/second for 10~20 seconds, maybe 30.

But it doesn't make my PC crash and it doesn't make me lose the game so it's not so bad. I give you guys like 5 stars everywhere - post the game around, get people to play it, it is really awesome respect you guys this is fuckin good :D

Are you going to keep working on it?

I am a producer in video games - I'd like to talk about that if you're interested. Like make an indie game out of it. It has a lot of potential <3

The Big Nom by Pixel Lifetime 2017-12-06T12:20:02Z

So 1st of all, the name is bad. It makes sense with the game, but it's extremely confusing because of the game Fat Princess (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fat_Princess) Semantically speaking, "fat princess" and "princess cake" are absolutely identical, and therefore people will think you're speaking of the game "Fat Princess" when you talk about your game "Princess Cake" - I advise you to think about this next time before choosing a name.

The game is graphically impressive, it makes my PC lag ^^ maybe look into optimising the 3D somehow for next time. It's impressive though - it looks reall good, the lighting is impressive for a Game Jam game, good job!

The level design is poor I found ---> right from the start you don't really have a choice, you're blocked in the game until you eat not 1 piece of cake, but 3 pieces of cake. So... what is the point of having singular pieces of cake if you need 3 right from the start? Also, once you've eaten a piece of cake, you can't digest it or puke it, that I find odd.

Then I find the game a bit sluggish with the 3 pieces of cake that were eaten ---> it just makes the game more slow and less interesting. In a way, that makes you respond to the theme, I guess ---> except that you don't have a choice! You're blocked in the game until you eat 3 pieces of cake, which makes the game more slow and less interesting!

It's a bit of a shame.

All in all ---> good game, focus more on Game Design next time. Take care and congratulations on finishing that game on time, good job :D

Pigeon by RIBOUT Horace 2017-12-06T12:42:51Z

This game is awesome dude! Pigeon simulator... well hell yeah! The fact you did it all by yourself blows my mind. I had the game in 1 of my tabs that stayed on for hours [I forgot about it and just tester it now like 10 mins ago ^^#] and I was lik where does this come from? I think it fouled the cat into thinkin there are likr birds in the house too hahaha

The only negative thing I'll say is that I don't know you're punished enough when you eat too much (to go with the theme). In my playthrough I played 4 days in a row but dinn do any more. Aldo the level 2 is bugged maybe - it was super short (like 10 or 20 seconds only).

But that aside... it's a really good game. Made in 48 hours by just 1 person I can't believe - but I do 'cause I know you and that you can do anything... as this game proves :D Good job man, honestly :D

Melody : Burden of Sorrow by BumiBomber 2017-12-05T10:28:47Z

So first off For a group of people this is really super impressive The game works, it's responding, it has lots of really fine interactions with the level With the dash and jump and double-jump and wall jump and jump + fall hard to break platforms

etc.

I'd say that I find it a bit convoluted Too many things to do It may have worked just as well, better even with less controls Less possible interactions with the level It may have come out more focused

Next thing ---> the keys used on the keyboard are god-aweful Check it out on an AZERTY keyboard It's a nightmare ^^# It got my left hand twisted in a weird position - not comfortable at all ^^#

But it's really neat and finished and it workes and it's not broken For a Jam in a team of only, it's honestly incredible.

Good job y'all :D And here's some QA for you ---> http://y-roirand.com/host/QAjeu2.png I got stuck inside a wall ^^#

Take care :D

LD44 — Your life is currency

Sofa Kingdom: Change of Thrones by LandoSystems 2019-05-03T13:46:30Z

OK so if it were up to me y'all would get disqualified - 'cause cmon, support shiba? How could you do anything BUT an amazing game with that sort of gear - right!? Anyhow ^^# - really cool game! Life is currency? More like currency is life! Yeah - pretty clever! Your game's vibe is pretty unique - with the musique and all - the intro where it did seem to me that a few innuendos were in the mix (maybe it's just me lol ^^#) - but most of all... it's really really satisfying to play! And gobble off 'em coins Plus pretty forgiving if when you lose life, it scatters around and doesn't eventually despawn. I mean IDK what y'all are up to when an LD is not up but I feel that tin's got potential - for what it's worth.

Good job you guys, really enjoying, great game :-D <3

Peak Myths by fashionbatman 2019-05-03T13:03:52Z

It's funny 'cause it's actually a clicker - but I did expect something a bit different... and a bit more action-packed ^^# The sound effects are funny and the automatic generation of stats and all is cool but... I do feel the interest of the game is a bit limited. Same with the theme - so "life" is cut into years, and you can sell your years in exchange for currency you can use to help you finish the game. Yeah... I get it... but same - you're just making life a currency that's 3rd level above all else like: -life /// -strong currency /// -low currency and give "20 life" at the start of the game I mean... Whilc you're at it you may as well add micro-transactions in there, you know ^^# And don't get me wrong - it's WELL IMPRESSIVE as a compo aka U did this all on your own in 48h I couldn't do that!

Still... it's a clicker... I'm disappoint... a bit ^^# Keep it up tho, have a nice day and in hoping you'll delignt us some more at the next LD :-D

Necromarket by Flaterectomy 2019-05-03T11:26:59Z

Dang this is well impressive! This is obviously not your first game but I'm really curious as to how you do that and whether your Game Jam games ever end up on Steam or on sale somewhere else? As far as your game is concerned it kept me hooked for like 1h ^^# It's a bit of a shame the music doesn't loop perfectly but the crafting system is CRAZY well-balanced and well-made - especially considering the time frame - it's pretty increcible :-O It took me a while to figure out that when the recipes show an old man - it means you grow older one stage - I was stuck as a kid and wanted to be an adult to transform demons into leather... anywho ^^# The game's humour is real gr8 it got me giggling

Well I'll be sure to check out your games during a Ludum Dare from here on out that's fo sho :-D - I hope you continue to do your thing and yeah... congratulations Ur work is amazing m8 :-O!

In The Devil's House by Marcenat 2019-05-03T14:14:51Z

Sympa!

Woodland Warfare by Kichex 2019-05-03T13:14:50Z

Pretty impressive! I feel a tutorial screen would have been useful Also, the hitbox to select the different chess parts feel a bit wonky and hard to click on But beyond that, it's a solid game for a LD - nicely done thanks for sharing :-D

What do YOU want? by Ever 2019-05-03T09:57:18Z

Franchement GG je me suis bien marré!

Stabman! by NoahRo 2019-05-03T13:21:50Z

I really enjoyed that! I'm really fond of the soundtrack - and I do mean that earnestly :-D Also the fact that you can just spam jump when you're next to a wall is daft... and also very entertaining :-P Good stuff - looking forward to see what y'all will produce in 6 months :-D

Salaryman by niterich 2019-05-03T12:51:11Z

Not bad! I'd advise for you to spruce up your page with a screenshot or images related to the game :-) I felt a bit frustrated your hunger doesn't reset from one day to the next - for logical reasons, not gameplay ones - of course ^^# I feel maybe the text could have been made more appealing - 'cause the little snipets you wrote in there are interested and varied but during my playthrough I didn't wanna read it all - I was afraid the timer would go off again or something

Very nice submission for a compo, great job :-D

Robooto by Wassim 2019-05-03T12:40:19Z

Bisous :-D

Medieval Worg by Doomky 2019-05-03T10:29:09Z

This is really impressive! Fully-fledged real-time strategy game in 48h only! I'm super-impressed!

The humour is nice, the fact the snake & tower grow over time is pretty clever I was a bit disappointed I couldn't control the units but still I'm amazed by the quantity and quality of work you guys did in so little time!

I'd suggest you spruce up this page with images - and how about a gameplay video and/or an update post here on this site - so you get more ratings?

Keep it up, amazing work :-D

Champions of Rome by StuartWakes 2019-05-03T13:57:54Z

I don't understand the leveling up system Also what's the link with the theme? There's also the fact that you got some levels with some variation in them - and some levels that are just exactly the same as the previous level - why do that? I would have thought only having level variations would be the prefered course of action for making a game It did keep me entertained for 5~10 minutes - good job, nicely done (y) :-)

Day in the Life of an Ordinary Turtle by NoahRo 2020-10-10T16:09:59Z

Jerry.IsDead by Natw 2020-10-06T21:29:28Z

Thanks a lot for your feedbacks @humanisred --- we just like the challenge of working with big teams - it's just our thing, I guess :-P

Jerry.IsDead by Natw 2020-10-10T19:20:47Z

Thanks a lot for all your feedbacks - most of them have been addressed at some point in our design process but our time management was unfortunately a bit messy and de facto, they're basically all caused because our current build is still full of bugs ^^#

Jerry.IsDead by Natw 2020-10-12T12:12:32Z

Thanks a lot for your comment @moski - it's unlikely at this point that further updates to fix existing bugs will happen for this game - but if anything pops up, I'll sure to let you know :-D

Jerry.IsDead by Natw 2020-10-26T08:28:21Z

Thanks a lot for the detailed feedbacks @niterich we really appreciate - sorry for the frustration and I hope you enjoyed the experience somewhat nonetheless :-)

Thanks to you too @krysh - unfortunatrly that's very unlikely - we did do a post-mortem but after that the team split - until some later Game Jam some time next year I'm sure :-D - in the meantime most of us were frustrated because we didn't manage our time so well during this LD [1st build --> hour 72 ^^# --> plenty to learn from for our next Jam that's fo sho :-D] so I'd be the first surprised if further updates are made to this game post-LD47 - I'd be sure to let you know if ever it happens tho :-D

This is mad @coleslaughter! Ill check out the stream some time - thanks again for presenting our game that is super kind! And don't apologize - your format is your format dude, what matters is that U have fun doing it - godspeed for your stream fam, peace out <3 :-D

And thanks for the feedbacks @thulium-games, too - I guess presentation is where we shine here on that LD47 ^^# - I'm still enamored with this banner [I'm not the one that drew it, in our group ^^#] - RIGHT!? <3 :D

Very cool! Loved it! minimal sound design but that's a lot of levels for 72h, really impressive :-o

It's funny as all hell - really enjoyed it - great job :D

I'm getting a bit of a type writer vibe in the mechanics & presentation of the game - the graphics department - very enjoyable

Very cool! The random is a bit punitive I found but I had quite a bit of fun playin it well-done dialogue tree, I'll say :)

Got stuck at #8 Broken Pipe - couldn't understand the logic behind it Nead little mechanic and nice polish Though more fine level tuning to make the difficulty creep in slower would make for a more enjoyable user experience - imo gg, tc :)

deepr by phi 2021-04-30T16:33:25Z

this something else 1st i thought u could manually write quotes in there and i have a bunch of those stacked away so i rubbed my hands there for a second

then i realized there was a system for making quotes "by hand" (--> no copypaste) so I did this --> 13_biloxi.PNG and i gotta say, I'm mighty proud of it!

reminds me of tweets from this dude https://twitter.com/keatonpatti/status/1148240819796807681 i recommend 'em they're really entertainimg imo :D

well thanks for making this really broadens the scope of what you can possibly achieve in a game jam in 72h also I checked a few of the quotes people left on there - there's some pretty cunning ones!

Nicely done! Take care :grinning:

Deeper State: Elon Flux by LandoSystems 2021-04-28T17:15:11Z

Very cool! The end came too soon - but still very impressive for a game jam game It's very permissive and forgiving - great for a game jam game then again making it more punishing could have helped make it feel longer - more trial and error Anyhow, great game, loved it - GG :-D

Intresting - the puzzle mechanic took me forever to understand! 2nd level was tough - i got lucky I think the controls need to be righter - when your little character moves from left to right good surprise over all takes a while to get used to but it's fun and original well done :)

Doctor Shrink by Flaterectomy 2021-04-28T17:34:19Z

Very cool! Really enjoyed it! Took me a while to get used to the shrinking mechanics There one part near the very end where there's a spike in your way, you can get small to pass through it - but it doesn't let you jump - that one took me a bit to get - cause it wasn't indicated Great little game - windy level design, greax execution - sweet stuff, well done :-D

Very cool - your itch page is really enticing - great game, interesting mechanics with the "floor" ever shifting - I only got up lv7 but a mechanic to regain some lives would be welcome imo - also killing mobs when you step on their head could be worth experimenting with - anyhow amazing game, kudos u got some top20 material, there!

*looks at the precious comments* - ok so clearly you're in the top 20 :P Found your game through itch.io sugestions :) I L-O-V-E - LOVED it <3 :grinning:

like, if you had told me last week 'you know what's missing from getting over it? a female dragon and innuendos" i would have simply answered with "dude who the fuck are you and what are you doing in my living room?" followed me by "pass me the blunt" and "but we gotta smoke on the bamcony or my gf's gonna freak" then we would have had a long conversation about life and its wonders and you would have taught me a thing or 2 about game jams and game design!

Very great game this worth like a cartdirge with 10 or 20 different little games like they used to do on the NES or SNES or whatnot - but on the switch gotta let this idea mature up but thanks-a-thousand - took me almost 1/2h but i managed fck-king kill the dragon :P Peace out :D

Game's a killer - loved it

deepSeaSmelter_04.png

got killed by the big boss the 1st time around - the one up north put rows upon rows of turrets the 2nd time around - made it till the end

I videoed a preview of my endgame-settlement https://drive.google.com/file/d/1nH6nkAzkAKPQsU9dTAanaCKiV6SVa2Mi/view?usp=sharing [couldn't convert to gif - too heavy - sorry]

It's a shame the game lacks a self-contained tutorial what you write on your itch page is really helpful to get started in the game it's really pleasant to like build an underwater little settlement the building algo works super well - really impressive in 72h only great job there :-O

I hope U get far in the top 100 - fantastic game - played it for a solid 45 mins - sound design is funny af and there's that weird noice at the back - the ever-ascending note - it's trippy af - really well put-together

Thanks for the esperience - I loved it - take care - can't wait to see what you'll cook up for the LD49 in October :-D

I do wonder what happens when you max it and get A+ all across the board? There a secret cutscene :P ^^# really cool - great game for a game jam - like mini-games but well-balanced - I struggled with the combo-click one a bit - but it works really well! I love your signature style - I discovered your little time with your LD47 one where you cowboy rodeo-poney-dudes - excellent - you guys heard of GreasyMoose - animator from Australia? Reminds me of his style a bit - live it! Thanks for the experience, very cool game - keep it up - can't wayt to see what you'll cook up next October <3 :-D

Very cool, fam! Really enjoyed it! Really puts you on the edge right from the get-go. The level design and balancing works really well in early-game! Eventually your team grows OP tho ^^# [fc attached screenshot] with some character being really crazy tanks - I kept my priest at the back for a while cuz it wouldn't level up so I'd try to put him in the frontline - but when he got to 12hp I kicked him back and left it there just so hje wouldn't die - tried to rest like 5 nights in a row, got attacked - and just now I tried resting and the game crashed

But damn that kept me hooked, son! Very cool, great job, thanks for the experience, I really loved playing your game - GG pal :-D

Going Down by omer1615 2021-04-30T16:20:41Z

It's neat but I feel like it's way too ambitions the nod to office space and that kind of vibe in the intro is nice I found the level editor cumbersome to manipulate the concept of a 2d sidescroller where u have to edit the level to be able to pass it is really cool - don't get me wrong - i just feel that doesn't shine through here unfortunately

same with the little chat with your boss - it's a nice addition and it settles the game as being humorous and all but I feel maybe just focusing on the platformer + editor might have been time better spent I'd be curious about the development process and what sort of 72h yall spent that got you here :)

Great concept nonetheless, thanks for sharing yall :)

The Lost Treasure of the Bloody Pufferfishes by Teanan 2021-04-30T23:05:36Z

That ain't half-bad! :D quite ambitious really with the different themes as you get deeper and then it loops back eventually it seems eventually u will die for cause of starfish no matter what you do so there's that ^^#

but there are lots of cool little mechanics in there like how each level gives way as you dig into it eventually very cool! Well-done! Keep it coming :grinning:

DRIFTDOWN by NoahRo 2021-04-29T11:58:50Z

06_downwell.png

Aye it's neat - Works well - Like a proto of summin like downwell - the skip tutorial is a welcomes freature - I found the hitzones for the landmasses a bit unforgiving - It gets old after like 20 mins but 20 mins of fun out of a 72h Jam, I say well-played there :-D  :)

plunge. by niterich 2021-04-28T16:38:23Z

It's neat, good one. Bit dark - muddy and a bit murky - great for the mood and vibe but it gets in the way of the gameplay a bit I found

couldn't figure out what to do with the pink card ^^#

Good game, nicely done (y) :)

The Forgotten Halls by vfqd 2021-04-30T02:13:08Z

It's neat but the loading times for the prayers and whatnot are a bit long for my taste It's great you have a x3 option for the speed at which time passes - I say add a 5x & a 10x The graphics fir together though - and you finished the project proper - thou I found the end card a tad underwhelming Good game overall - thanks for sharing :)

Descend by Robin Scarbrough 2021-04-30T16:39:53Z

Good stuff 2d platformer - what software did u use to make it? It works well well done the controls are a bit twitchy I'd argue - though responsive not gonna lie I gave up at that part with the gun on the right and 4 rows of 3 spikes and the littke platforms in-between like NOPE ^^# also I made a gamr called "Descent" in a game jam a while back - that made me giggle :) - https://benjaminrobcis.itch.io/descent

I'd argue the checkpoints look too similar to the spikes - counter-intuitive at first you gotta running game gg - I suggest you focus on juicing it up these controls for next time curious to see what u'll come up with in 6 months - tc :)

Ants Are Awesome by IndigoWolf 2021-04-30T15:39:41Z

It's a shame it's a bit confusing I got stuck at that part dinn quite attack the enemy queen ant for some reason dinn really the building selection menu - like how you choose what building you wanna build next is? same with plain digging - i gotta use up a ressource building that blue time in order to get more ressources from the ground and then I can build more rooms? got me scratching my head a bit ^^#

11_fourmis_2.png

with controlling the ants you feel like you're playing "against" rather than "using" the system ^^# the ants digging are pretty satisfying tho lacks a tutorial imo - even if just on the itch.io page yknow nice work tho - looking forward what U cook up in 6 months :-D

Into the Storm by Vladadamm 2021-04-30T16:49:49Z

the dialogue-gameplay-dialogue formula works well but it's a bit stiff imo i was really disappointed you couldn't pick up the light orbs ^^# - a little scoring, that would have been enjoyable also your game needs checkpoints ^^# - I crashed down to see if you can and had to start from scratch iterate bruh - let's see how you grow for the next one! Thanks for sharing :)

PENGUI by Wassim 2021-04-29T12:24:19Z

It's nice - but I'd call it more of a "toy" than a "game" - following Jesse Schell's definition (he wrote The Art of Game Design - get your hands on 1 volume if U never heard of it, real bible of the game designer :-D) I did 5:09 It's a shame cause the level design is very "made for test" - there's a mountain of ice in the middle of the ice bathtub you're stuck in - get to the top of mountain - wait - die It's a shame you can't move the camera around also Great little tech demo - great execution, very nice Sound Design - gg -:)

Bunny Bunny Dig Dig by ZakAmana 2021-04-30T00:59:22Z

Ocean Explorer by Johannimations 2021-04-30T17:15:33Z

It's very cool but I'd still call it a toy 'cause there's no winstate - is there? the hitbox on ur submarine is really forgiving - maybe too much so ^^# same the background serves no purpose - no collision box and it doesn't indicate you when you've reached the end of your play-area - would have been a welcomed upgrade same - havine a little screen that tells you how deep you're going if only to have a high score page with your "GAME OVER" screen could have been neat how about the goal of the player - why do you have to dive? both my health and material jauges remained full for the entire game - bit lacking in the challenge department - for my liking sound is solid and graphics are very chill tho - yellow submarine meets magical school bus - count me in :-D I hope that helps you improve - keep at it fam, tc :)

Very cool! Did you do a mobile buid - like android? What you got there is nothing less than a working proof of concept for a mobile game. Enjoyed it a lot :)

On the critical side - I think your coin multiplier is broken - also I brought back the roll at 100m to the surfica - alone as well as with 1 of each fruits, and I didn't unlock an ending - did I do something wrong or is it just not implemented yet :-P

Nav's Endless Nightmare by Zizhen96 2021-04-30T03:21:37Z

It's neat - the randomly generated levels work well but they get a bit samey The sound design is spot-on tho - really shines through Good one - well done

Beyond the Canyon by Dante2001 2021-04-30T03:13:23Z

Very interesting Why did you disable rating on the music? It works very well! I'm always hoping Ill see driving games in game jams - they're rather rare in my experience - very interesting cause here you totally reappripriated it and the dialogue ain't that well integrated into it - but the whole thing works and it deals with a very important topic to you

respect, man fresh, insightful Thanks for making this, I enjoyed playing it :)

Fantastic game - excellently finished and executed - I love the fact [SPOILER BELOW]

08_it segfaults.png

That you see all the scenes at the end with the light on and it really ties all the loose ends Really great

And the fact you have the credits in there! IN the game - perfectly integrated! Amazing - masterfully done - can I refer to you 5 as "sempai" from here on out plz :-D?

I found the fact you have to open the loo with the weird blade counter-intuitive that got me scratching my head for a bit but I made it till the end and I'm so glad I did

Very very fun - thanks - sempais <3 :grinning:

A Taste of the Past by Emily Pitcher 2021-04-30T00:24:45Z

Presentation is incredible I freaked when I realized the buttons of the main menu adjusted when I resized the window very very beautiful and charming very well-executed

now I'm not so fond of graphic novels so I can't really judge but at the very end i poured the sand-coloured sand in first then nothing would happen

and that made me confused and sad

but it's a charming game anyway thanks for sharing, peace out <3 :-)

The Tourist by Frostfall 2021-04-30T00:12:16Z

OK so I found it a bit cruel - here's what happened: I read the 1st 3 messages then is started talking about bamboos so I tl.;dr'rd and switched to speedrun mode

**[spoilers ahead]**

and then I got to the board with some blood on it so I read it and I was like "oh shit this just got real" so I ren all the way back - like i turned around but I was really swifty about it so it let me go through and ran (or walked - idk) all the way back to the spawn point

and then - nothing so then I ran [walked] again to the note with the blood on it and really stuck my nose into it to read it and get clues or whatnot and THEN I turned around again and THEN there was the jumpscare

It's really neat and well-presented - kudos there But I found it a bit lacking in the gameplay & interaction departments The fact you could change your imput at the start was handy - oldschool thou it's a shame stepwalk dinn work on controller

Good job thanks for the experience - peace out :)

1000 Fathoms by Dom De Re 2021-04-30T22:57:47Z

Pretty risky to go for a 2 player-game in a game jam :) it's neat tested it on my own so but less thrilling than what you were aiming for but it works great result for a 1st ludum dare, sweet :)

Never Ending Cave by Tudypie 2021-04-29T12:44:26Z

Neat - you'll be glad to know you're in the itch.io suggestions that's how I found your game :) It's great as a tech demo 1st of all - the realization is neat, the dieplacement is very responsive - though i wish I could have ran or jumped I was super impressed by your settings menu - didn't expect that from a game jam game! But then it's a shame you can't re-bind the controls - ex.: for Azerty keyboards for the french speakers out there ;)

So I got to the battery, picked it up, turned around, saw the titan~teddy bear walk towards me - I walkrd back, fell and realized... that you threw away a completely valid opportunity ti use the wilhelm scream in yout game jam game! dude! shame - real thamt :-S ^^# - good job there - impressive for 48h - GG :-D

Very cool, made me giggle ^^#

The audio commentary are funny as f*** :stuck_out_tongue:

I'd say it gets a bit frustrating 'cause of the random nature of the game - good fun nonetheless

Karawan by Rongo Matane 2021-10-07T18:04:37Z

Incredible

I managed to finish the 1st level but it took me a good 1/2h!

The desert level is just way too hard, no idea how to get through it ^^#

Mad you 3 could do this in 72h - respect, masterful

There is a minor sound glitch when you start the level and the ressource gathering mechanic ain't straightforward at first, but the depth of the gameplay is incredible - good job y'all :-o

Manoe's Quest by Mahjoub 2021-10-07T16:00:12Z

Cool & original!

Good variety thou I believe even more could have been done for more levels in terms of the variety available with other combinations of the design blocks we see here

Gameplay's nervous, responsive, fast - works great as an arcade die & retry - great!

I think a high score screen at the very end that shows the bonuses you got and missed for each level wouldn't have taken too long to implement and it would have greatly helped in the context of this contest - to encourage people to interact more through screenshots of said screen in the comments

Very clean and crisp - you've set up high expectations for yourself and you meet them - congrats, man :grinning:

Delusion by Elazulus 2021-10-07T15:37:17Z

Pretty good, does the trick

Does the insanity meter do anything beyond being the HP bar?

I found it a bit repetitive after a while - more variation from wave to wave would have been welcome

I didn't find the sword to be very useful

Keep it up (y) :)

LD53 — Delivery

Air Delivery by pianoman373 2023-05-04T12:56:22Z

fantastic! --- I love the intro to the game that makes me think of that of Vice City, so cool --- works really well! --- I'd advise you leave other video settings than full screen cause the dialogs in particular hurt the eyes a tad ^^# --- but I love the PICO8 mood --- the fact you can see letters that are out-of-reach for not at the start of the game feels like the oldest trick in the books --- like from obscure titles I'd check out on fonw windows 3.1 or 95 machines --- still works just as well, I aint sayin :-P --- also using the mailposts as checkpoints are _**GENIUS!!**_ --- well done and thanks for this experience, great fun lil game :grinning: :sparkles:

Trajectory Express by icxon 2023-05-04T17:02:56Z

very impressive graphically and in terms of scope --- the colours are tame and soothing, it's a nice atmosphere --- reminds me of worms 3d's maps a bit --- that being said I got mega-confused by the inverted controls for the Y axix (up/down) --- an option to make it possible to control the ship like you would a plane would make the game much more enjoyable in my experience --- impressive scope, good job :-) :sparkles:

Game Genie: Crunch Time by LandoSystems 2023-05-04T17:13:55Z

woah this is intense --- i'd say it's a total clusterf@ck --- but not in a bad way --- like it's busy there's a _**lot**_ going on --- it reminds me of an old windows 3.1 game, hyper ball or whatever it was called --- though not as fast thank god ^^# --- clearly you guys did really well time management-wise, it's well-polished --- I just sorta feel there's a bit... too much going on --- for my taste, that is --- cause you gotta 1) move the balls to the goals 2) avoid or kill the NPCs that spawn constantly 3) juggle between your 5 unique powers --- _wait a minute **THIS IS 3 GAMES IN A TRENCHCOAT**_ :o --- ^^# no but in all seriousness that's fun & fresh, thanks for the experience :-) :sparkles:

Arcana Express by Joe Cowman 2023-05-04T17:21:18Z

that's pretty original --- I finished 1st and got a score of 1300 on my 4th attempt I think it was --- clearly you gotta juggle between powers 1 & 2 to finish 1st and to break boulders --- it's challenging but fresh --- I'd maybe try to start using keys on a keyboard that are in a cluster, to try to polish the UX --- might be the most original mechanic I've played so far --- good job :-) :sparkles:

Hazard Saviour by sinclairstrange 2023-05-03T18:49:42Z

Hi - first I want to say that I had problems with the build 02d --- it would crash after about 1 or 2 minutes and I didn't have any sound. I found the menuing very effective, the start of the level I could test worked very well, great mechanics, I love the graphics and vibe. I didn't really understand how we were supposed to interact with the 1st NPC we come across --- I admit I did not read the description at the top of the page. I hope this is useful at all, very cute game, great job :-)

Hazard Saviour by sinclairstrange 2023-05-06T11:01:34Z

hey @sinclairstrange --- sorry it's my bad --- your game is the 1st I tested --- it was actually avast being a numbnut --- I've revised the grave I gave you --- great job :-) :sparkles:

Mailman Murphy by silkworm_sweatshop 2023-05-03T19:02:59Z

high score 17300 --- man that was a slife of fun and a half! --- the dogs gave me such a hard time upon encounter with the fact they can drop a swift 180 haha --- it's really fun & efficient --- great you can play on the controller --- it's great the type of package randomises upon retry --- had a great time, good job :grinning: :sparkles:

Deliveries & Dragons by PhilStrahl 2023-05-06T11:11:21Z

that's a really satisfying game, kudos to you! --- the bullet function is cheesable --- quickly I realised I could just shoot all 3 systematically which would make it like 95% lilely I'd hit the target ^^# --- also there seems to be a de facto hard limit on the number of gnomes you can have: above 7 the additional gnomes just remain on their spawn point --- but it really works and is fun and yeah --- great experience thanks for sharing :grinning: :sparkles:

Mad Meow: Purriosa's Panic by Strega 2023-05-04T17:30:10Z

Incredible! --- it gets pretty brutal towards the end hehe --- but I enjoyed it --- it's like a slow motion bullet hell (at 1st lol) --- amazing vibe & atmosphere, the graphics & sound are great, presentation is on fleek, everything works well in the UI/UX --- on the critical side I'd say the bullet elements are a bit basic and because the truck has such a large hitbox compared to the area covered by the weapons, it feels a bit powerless when blue orbs are raining down on you haha --- but I guess that later one is one of the limitations of the format --- also giving each gun a separate HP box is pretty original imo --- great game from you lot as expected, keep up the good work :-D :sparkles:

Village Run by 43sam 2023-05-06T11:23:02Z

pretty well-rounded game --- it took me like 3 minutes to understand the packages I was delivering were in the centre of the town, an arrow at the very start of the game to go there would help I think --- also the system with the yellow and red exclamation marks is a bit confusing --- I was pretty impressed by all the functione in-game like sprint, dash, throw --- are all those strictly necessary tho? --- I'm really blown away by the scope tho --- with the V function for the map in particular, mega-impressive --- great job keep it up :grinning: :sparkles:

Kirk's Food Delivery Game by HacksawUnit 2023-05-06T12:37:25Z

6.33.607 --- pretty fun actually --- I like the water dash mechanic it's pretty fresh --- careful you wrote "W and D to ‘walk" on your pages when it's actually _**A**_ & D --- I had a bit of a hard time figuring out it was right arrowkey that had to be pressed to pass to the next dialogue scene --- beyond that I really like all the hand-drawn typoand graphical style --- works really well, GG :) :sparkles:

Bundle Beeline by Squidly 2023-05-06T12:44:23Z

graphically and in terms of mood/universe it's very enjoyable --- all sugar-coated, cute, pastel --- the little conversations with the clients are nice too --- that being said in terms of mechanics, I was extremely frustrated by the speed condervation, it would knowk me off platforms and basically mess up many of my trajectories ^^# --- maybe it's because I haven't playued anough classic mario 2d games _[mea culpa lol]_ but yeah I'd go for something that's much more instantaneous and direct --- great game nonetheless, wemm done :-) :sparkles:

Fortune Footsteps by frankiesmileshow 2023-05-06T12:53:48Z

this reminds me of an old game we did for an old LD --- on one hand it's really impressive because it's really detailed and there's stats and it's like a FF game in a nutshell, so much to do! --- on the other it felt to me like I didn't have so much control at all --- except telling the teams where to go and what to loot and the speed at which the battles were happening --- eventually the team has no more HP and, well... bad luck! --- couldn't really figure out how to get over that part --- or the cemetaries, for that matter ^^#--- I'd advise focus on 1 mechanic or 2 next time, having a whole entire game that's happerning within the game and that people can't control directly is actually a bit frustrating --- I think --- anywhom, impressive nonetheless, keep it up :-) :sparkles:

Ravenhaul by Rongo Matane 2023-05-03T19:34:18Z

Incredible mood & vibe --- crazy level of polish for an LD game, very impressive --- I found the relationship with the crows to be somewhaty poetic because you care for them and stuff --- I played in the famous _tl:dr_ style and found myself in debt by the in-game-week's end, though hahaha --- I have no regrets --- great job sweet experience :-) :sparkles:

Mouth Feel by ColeSlaughter 2023-05-06T13:02:06Z

Fun & original! --- I like the really dramatic storyline --- aldo I agree letting players do whatever they can with the main mechanics and then as soon as enough syllables have been uttered, no matter which ones, there's another little cutscene is the best way to go through this without getting frustrated by having to restart ^^# --- it's the most fun unplayable game I've checked so far for this LD53 :grinning: :sparkles:

Olith by Enver Arco 2023-05-03T19:43:14Z

good one --- you really went to town with that brush for all the tunnels haha --- it works well tho --- I had left thumb on the L3 stick and my right hand on the mouse and it worked quite well --- the fact the soldier shoots one last time as he falls is ingenious but also a bit infuriating in a game that, a bit like get over it or whatnot, sets you back to the start after a few hits --- I was puzzled about the egg after the soldier, next to the little house --- but upon investigating I hitboxed the rocks above it and died --- that's as far as I got --- nice soundtrack too, good jon :-) :sparkles:

Comedian Keith by catbutt 2023-05-06T13:09:10Z

pretty fun --- I like that the thrown objects remain on-stage --- after a while I wanted to see the game over screen so I only focused on the arrow keys and not the thrown items anymore --- got to 50! --- happy to see we're not the only ones who created games using Undeal :grinning: :sparkles:

Space loader Tim 49 by thetatautau 2023-05-06T13:40:03Z

damn --- that's the most satisfying game Ive played during the LD53 playtests --- there's the seed of a fun simple co-op game in this --- you do realize this, right? --- I'm of the opinion you should have disabled the audio grade, since there's no soundtrack --- the graphics and vibe are really amazing --- I really enjoyed it, thanks for the experience :grinning: :sparkles:

Elevander of the Emu Express by Honest Dan 2023-05-03T20:05:09Z

I'm jealous of your UI + webpages, it's so clean, very appealing --- tuto works well --- it's pretty original to remix floppy bird mechanics --- it's original we have to deliver letters both ways from and to the patrons --- I dinn use gliding so much, truth be told I feel the level design doesn't work that great with the bird and its mechanics --- I think it's a bit too cramped, for gliding in particular --- also I was getting gynormous A Short Hike vibes, am I right or? :-P --- that being said also I felt the character a bit unappealing --- he feels like he's constantly out of breath --- it's kinda cute... but a bit frustrating coupled with all these cacti on the map haha --- maybe I'm just not hardcore enough --- very well-polished and beautiful game, well done :-) :sparkles:

Special Delivery by niterich 2023-05-03T20:12:05Z

1046.85 --- bruh you're telling me that with like 15 minutes of fun I can pay like my rent and food and shit!? --- fuck me I'm a work 2 days/month and buy a yatch that's what :-P --- I had a ball of fun --- I think it really works --- this is **_EXACTLY_** the kinda game i b wanting to be playing, expecially with this theme --- everything just works like the controls are basic af --- 5 keys --- yet I mean you don't need more so I may steal your idea, there :-P --- the handling is good, it could have used a handbreak ut it xdoesnt need it --- the city is varied --- the music is catchy AF --- it's fuckin great, well done U lot :grinning: <3 :sparkles:

The Souls Express by antvelm 2023-05-06T14:11:41Z

super poetic --- I'd add a button to sprint or dash, for the impatient ones among us ^^# --- also it took me a while to figure out I'd get ahead by talking to the other ghosts - but I did find that eventually --- all the mise-en-scène and camera movements and all contribute to a thick atmosphere, pretty amazing --- great little experience, thanks for sharing :-) :sparkles:

Amazing! --- I really love the PS1 esthetics --- in 3D but with fat pixels on display --- best of both worlds on my batch :-P --- the simple exploration premise works well --- good level design but I found myself stuck, dinn really know where to go --- couldn't reach the highest buildings, that was a bit frustrating --- but the whole artificial intelligence (movie) aesthetics with the collapsed skyscrapers in the sea --- absolutely love that, wonderful thick mood right there --- I like that the spheres run after you so it feels you should hurry --- satisfying when you realize you can kill them --- the pouring acid rain is a fantastic element: it explains why you _**need**_ an umbrella to go outside, why people are stuck in their tents --- great environment storytelling --- I wish there had been more flavour text and interactions with NPCs, different for each tent, mayhap? --- masterpiece nonetheless, good job :-D :sparkles:

Rhino Express by Mahjoub 2023-05-06T12:00:38Z

very cool gamer! --- I managed to reach the end as well --- deffo there's the building blocks for another 50 levels in there :-P --- I managed to reach ther end though so that's satisfing --- everything's well thought-out --- there's a level that glitched on me --> ni problem --> just press **R**! --- the crafacter's cool, the fact there's both displacement and elements placement is fresh --- yeah it's one of your famous puzzle games as always ;-) --- well done :grinning: :sparkles:

Seedling by TwoWolf 2023-05-04T11:57:34Z

dude your game is so pure --- the fez-infused sountrack is amazing --- I love the vibe, the message behind it --- it's peaceful and precious, it's a plant tryna get her babies out there in the world --- I found it really touching --- the choice to have a static globe instead of having it rotating as you go left and right and you, the seed, stay upright, was a bit odd to me at first --- then I managed to get on the other side and I was like _"hmm actually that works"_ hehe --- the reversed controls do take some getting used to tho, ngl ;) héhé --- most poetic game Ive played so far --- great job thanks for the experience :-D :sparkles:

DeliverEgg by Tricky_Fat_Cat 2023-05-04T12:14:15Z

ok so u guys did mario 3D in 72h --- no pressure --- you got a game in the top 25 here --- pretty sure you know it but I had to say it ^^# haha --- very nice!! --- I didnt realize you could kill npcs by jumping onto their heads _[no judgement]_ but actually the dino stealing my egg at the basketball hoop made me figure it out --- I feel there's a lot of really clever game design in this game that nudges you in the direction you should go gently --- it's mega-juicy with all these steaks and all --- huge, really well-finalized, well-level designed --- yeah Im having a hard time finding critical things to say, honest --- it's not punhshing --- you guys have a banger in your hands, what can I say --- thanks for setting the bar, guys, and until next time ;-) :-D :sparkles:

Lucky Lefty Loves Letters by TheBookSnail 2023-05-03T19:51:06Z

all the menu and ui and tutorial work really well --- it took me a while to understand that the letter in the top left corner is part of the ui, it doesn't need to be captured --- I found the fact you can grapple air a bit cheesable but then again it actually makes the game more forgiving, I won't complain --- it gets a bit repetitive, maybe more small levels before the big one could have helped --- 72h is a short amount of time, maybe that big last level could have been cut up in several, IDK --- I think its difficulty curve was beyond my skill, that's what I'm tryna say ^^# --- had a good time thanks for the xp tc :-) :sparkles:

Deviler by Antonin Browne 2023-05-19T08:29:03Z

@cosmogonicfrog hey man --- thanks again for your feedback! --- we have made newer builds since your ogirinal test --- you may wanna try them if you can dig it --- have a nice day and thanks again :grinning: :sparkles:

@snakemuho really sorry to hear --- thanks for trying nonetheless --- we have newer builds you might wanna try if you'd like --- beyond that, on our side, we have learned as a team that working with unreal means looking into optimization pretty early in the process --- if you want something that as many people as posible can experience in the end --- you live, you learn! --- that's why we're here too innit :-)

@usenrame THANKSBRAAAAAAAAAAAAH!!

Giggle Groove by badcop 2023-05-04T12:24:04Z

omfg this game is awesome!! --- so hard --- but awesome!! --- it works really well --- the ai voices of the characters + audience crack me up --- the graphics work, gets the message across --- oh --- and Im with an AZERTY keyboard, yeah --- just the fact I dont have to fuckin switch to QWERTY to play your game --> _**THANK YOUU**_ --- I swear haha --- all in all I think your game is an amazing lesson in efficiency --- surely you have some experience in both Game Design & making games in general _[heck you're in my follow list, so... ;-) hehe]_ and you didn't just strike gold 1st try --- yet here you are, LD53, made the funniest game I tested so far --- thanks for the smiles --- take care peace out bro :-D :sparkles:

.

_P.S.: I left the endscreen of the HTML build at the end of my game on, in another tab --- the little mutters of the people that go on like a show room with no show on --- mega-subtle but mega-on point man --- you rock my world_ :-D :sparkles:

Idyll : Democracy delivery by DracoNox 2023-05-04T12:38:18Z

altright so, it kept me hooked till: 50 leaflets, 20 Preachers & Associations & Scientists & Media _[all the previous --> maxed out], **and**_ 5 Politicians --- then again im leaving it on writing this, as one should do ^^# --- got 8.107M follocers and 190M influence right now :-D hehe --- Im not big on clickers but this got me hooked a while so great job there --- shame there's no music --- UI/UX is clean and the doge meme in the chat made ma laugh --- I had a good time testing this, thank you :-) *sparkles*

Cat Elite by Julvador 2023-05-06T11:48:09Z

_in space, no one can hear you drift_ --- it's really fun!! --- I actually really liked the approach where, instead of going "hmmm yes let's try to make a 5~15 minutes experience for the player" from the get-go, it's a system that feels pretty tricky where you have to really _**push yourself**_ to ghet more gameplay time --- very ingenious IMO actually --- I found the hitzones really unforgiving ^^# --- beyond that everything works --- the tutorial is _**really well thought-out**_ and seemlessly integrated, really kudos to that --- the vehicle feels great, the graphics and sounds are great --- great little game, thanks for the gameplay experience :grinning: :sparkles:

LD54 — Limited Space

Start Wreck: The Finite Frontier by LandoSystems 2023-10-13T09:20:13Z

I really enjoyed that!

the [no spoilers] was the 22nd I found during my playthrough

I really like the snooker dynamics as well

there's lot of nice quality-of-life stuff in there like the arrow pointing you to the next point of interest or the tiny fog-of-war triangles that disappear once they're small enough - very satisfying!

also the little descriptions when u find a piece of interest kept me going and playing for an odd 1/2h or whatever --- I really wanna reach that point with the story in the games we make with my team for our next Jam!

and yeah the graphics are nice, the humour made me giggle, the music is fantastic

little gem right there! looking forward to playing your next game m8s :grinning: :sparkles:

Ishmael by dob 2023-10-13T09:32:28Z

I really enjoyed that!

the mechanics and menuing reminded me of your game from LD50

it works really well --- the 1st level with moby got me really scared I was like "well that's it it's over"

buffed my stuff and it worked out in the end

I really like the dynamics, it's simple but works really well

even the fact that you have to aim slightly ahead of each whale

it's satisfying to grow your city as you intend and buff it

the mood is good, the humour is nice - well done sir :grinning: :sparkles:

ASTROLIZWILL - An 80's Handheld Space Adventure by designernap 2023-10-15T10:58:01Z

really cool game!

love the concept

little touches like being able to change the background I enjoyed a lot

it's minor but it would be a tad better to leave the controls shown either until you start the game or always there at the bottom left - potentially with a button to enable/disable them?

it's fun and well-balances, quite challenging but then again I can't aim for shit ^^#

well done and keep at it :grinning: :sparkles:

But we still love each other by rongon 2023-10-15T10:48:40Z

interesting concept

very ambitious to do a multiplayer game for the Ludum Dare, I would have not dared myself ^^#

played it with my GF, she found it a bit unplayable

it's a bit frustrating or limiting not to be able to move vertically

also moving the head doesn't add much to the gameplay in our XP

beyond that, personally, I enjoyed it a lot

it's fun and fresh, but simple and minimalist, the different beds and the little critter I really enjoyed

also I won so I have no ragrets ^^#

good one, keep it up :-) :sparkles:

Donut Park Here! by Rongo Matane 2023-10-15T11:36:44Z

well I'm pretty dumbfound

how did y'all make this in 72h? what's your secret !?

it's very impressive and fun,

it's great you went into puzzles with the existing level design elements you had,

there's a good variation in-between each level

nice storytelling and humour, good variety in the vehicles too

I'm having a hard time being objective, I played this for way longer than I should

really well-done and keep it going :grinning: :sparkles:

Flob the Bloing by Branquelo 2023-10-15T12:24:23Z

very good-looking game

the character's cute, the animation's on point, level design's good

it's way too hard imo tho!

I gave up at the level with the 3 weightless zones at the top and the 2 at the bottom

it's challenging and interesting to control the characters but moving around the weightless zones I found really tricky

also the green gate zones are a bit too punishing for my taste

definitely for the experts, this one ;-)

good going though, thanks for the xp :grinning: :sparkles:

Amazing Squirrel by Sora 2023-10-15T12:55:04Z

very impressive for 72h, well-done!

the graphics are nice, animation is good, squirrel is cute

it's a bit of a shame that there are no sound effects ex.: when you walk or pick up an item

also the soundtrack is a bit... aggressive? or maybe too loud or it's just too stressful for me with the time limit - take that one with a grain of salt ^^#

it does feel like you were caught by time towards the end - with the lack of endscreen and the such

even still - very impressive and great looking game, well done :grinning: :sparkles:

MUSEUM RUSH by Kilirane 2023-10-20T10:49:06Z

Very interesting game

The map is huge and the pages look great - same for the tutorial and intro, great job there

Now I feel the controls are a bit frustrating

The possibility to shout is a great idea

But only being able to move forward and backwards and turn feels too limiting with the time constraint

A strafe button to move from side to side would have been much more useful than the crouch button that doesn't really do anything mechanically from what I've seen

The map of the museum is a great idea, but I would have found it very useful if it included

- your current position highlighted

- also a highlight of the 6 pieces you're assigned to in this game

Impressive game scope-wise with lots of potential though, good job :grinning: :sparkles:

Private 621 by Tricky_Fat_Cat 2023-10-15T13:04:51Z

very nice!

tight gameplay, balancing, enemy variety

I ain't big on bullet hells personally but that kept me entertained for a while

maybe it could have been interesting to break down level 2 into more sublevels because a lot happens in there

but it feels like there's all the elements for real diehards of the genre to find their flow

well done, looking forward to the next one in April :grinning: :sparkles:

Free The Slime! by Christian Zommerfelds 2023-10-20T10:31:41Z

That's a great little game you got there!

The main mechanic takes a bit to grasp,

The fact you're gonna add blocks to your body then you move "into one",

But that won't be the case if you move "beside one"

I feel there could be more emphasis on that as you're playing the game like in the tutorials or the such, 'cause it's fundamental and feels frustrating a bit at the start until you get it

Beyond that, it's a modern twist on classics such as sokoban in my sense and it's pretty fresh!

The way the game is hosted and menuing is straightforward and satisfying,

The little story is fun, there's lots of levels, the wink towards Ludum Dare in the last one is nice

I really enjoyed that!

The form can be improved in the graphics and audio departments,

But the concept is very much on point and further iterable

Great job, thanks for the experience :grinning: :sparkles:

Bit Golf by badcop 2023-10-15T13:36:19Z

very impressive :-O

and the web build that lets you choose your game version in-app

and the community-made levels!!?

honestly respect

it's really fresh and surprisingly tricky yet addictive

all about pattern recognition, fascinating

I really like the examples you give in the 1st levels as well, a bit of everything

I'd say an option to go back to the main menu to select a different level would be nice

but beyond that well done --- surprising and fresh --- what a wonderful example of what a Ludum Dare can bring along :grinning: :sparkles:

Acid! by FudgeGoneWild 2023-10-20T10:09:11Z

That's a damn fun gam!

I really enjoyed that, did a few games

The gamefeel, level design, creatures movement, gun specs & satisfaction is on point

Sometimes reseting is bugged with the camera being stuck in a corner

And the mechanic of spawning a gun then having to wait a few seconds for the gun to be usable introduces a lot of pressure - could be a good or a bad thing that one

It's far from the 1st game of that type I'll play during a Ludum Dare,

But that one works well and was really fun to play

Well done, thanks for the experience :grinning: :sparkles:

Puss In Box by iron_head 2023-10-20T10:41:04Z

Very interesting!

1st of all you got 2 games for the price of 1, that's pretty impressive

I love the cats - the soundtrack and sound effects, their looks and different shapes, that works extremely well, very charismatic and enticing

Now...

The jump mechanic is infuriating!!

I got as far as past the 1st cats box to be filled - there's like a slide then a jump directly after - couldn't get past it - it drives me crazy!

I believe it would be better for players to make it more forgiving - it's good there's the right feedback like visual + sound that you bounced on the table or whatnot but it's very easy to bounce once or twice and then you don't have the space to jump anymore and you're done foe and have to start from scratch

Maybe checkpoints could be a thing too - I don't know

Lots of potential there no matter - good job keep it up :grinning: :sparkles:

Dungeon Heroes by naphalm 2023-10-20T10:12:58Z

OK so I had not realized the "play sign" on the cover graphic lets you run a web build directly in LdJam.com now

That's neat! [and good to know!]

In the meantime be careful, the game in the zip is broken

dungeon-heroes_broken.PNG

.

OK so the communication on this page in terms of having graphics of the game and the such, that's pretty well done

But I feel it's lacking indications

It works but I have no idea what difference it makes it my characters wait for each other or if I should go for a fight with the monster or wait for them to get to me - can my characters die?

They seem to be different kinds of fighters but to they behave differently or have different stats? Different specializations?

What does the key do?

Beyond that it's pretty original to have several platformers stacked on top of each other, I don't think I've seen this before

I hope you had a lot of fun making this, keep it up :ginning: :sparkles:

Rogue Rails: Fractured Cargo by Phillips Albright 2023-10-20T11:19:50Z

What an amazing game!

I really enjoyed it!

Reached the end as well!

I had no idea what the ammo available to be found was going to be so I tried to do everything with the knife to start with, but it took me forever to understand you can only oneshot with the knife when you're sneaky!

Using parts of your inventory as your lifebar is really clever

I'd say the menuing and intro can be improved,

But beyond that, the gameplay experience is really great

I love the graphics and level also

Amazing job, looking forward to playing your next game :grinning: :sparkles:

Checking In by Austin Szema 2023-10-20T09:51:27Z

Interesting game

I live the humour and mood

The gameplay is simple and efficient

Yet I feel it would be useful to have more information to be able to make better decisions

Like what's the minimum coverage needed for such or such disease or injury

And what are the stats for survival for such decision

Or how much time is needed for them to heal, how much time can they stay in the wait list, and what are the associated reputation drop if they die on my watch

Also the notifications mechanic on the left-hand side is neat,

But it would be even better if they stacked downwards, 'cause currently it's pretty common mid-game to have several notifications arriving at the same time and they hide each other

Maybe more stats on the UI would be more useful in this respect

Then again there's no remaking Theme Hospital in 72 hours, that's understood ;-)

Nice experience, thanks for making it happen :grinning: :sparkles:

.

Side note --- you have until the end of the day to play lots of games to have your 20 ratings

Good luck! :muscle:

LD56 — Tiny Creatures

Triflings by Squidly 2024-10-13T11:02:04Z

Game looks amazing --- loving the mood, art, audio, characters --- very appealing and impressive I found the gameplay kinda clunky, unintuitive --- having to re-select your characters every time you move them around isn't very handy (I played the web version from itch) --- I was hoping for an in-game tutorial tbh ^^# That being said great presentation --- love the credits right before the game starts, that works very well --- and the character select screen is really smart Keep it up, happy testing yall :-)

Microadventure by cagibi 2024-10-13T11:12:42Z

Mighty impressive --- good fun and a cool experience --- loving the dialogues --- how you play with platforms that are in the background that yet you can interact with and jump on --- I found that fresh I got stuck on like the 3rd level on top of a cell below me that was blocking the way towards the end of the level that I didn't know how to destroy But yeah --- real impressive you could do all that on your own in 48h only --- kudos to you --- great sound design also --- keep it up happy testing tc man :-)

Microbe match maker by martonel 2024-10-13T14:14:40Z

the mastermind-like gameplay is a good and pretty fresh idea --- the graphics and vibe are nice

I'd say maybe increase the hitbox where you can drop the critters --- gotta drag & drop'em a few times until they stick, it's a bit frustrating --- the the feedback you get from the expression of the creatures, I feel it's a slight missed opportunity to have put it above the critters and not on their faces directly, seen as they all have an animated face --- also it's unclear to me whether the critters react to their side-to-side neighbours only, or to their above neighbours also --- and finally I found the 1st level really difficult --- I'd suggest more levels but starting off with a really really basic easy one, and having a much more forgiving and encouraging difficulty curve --- so that I get further and by the time I'm kinda stuck, I'm at level 10 and I'm really hyped from the previous 9 I completed quite easily --- feeling good about myself --- all that

keep it up and happy testing man --- gg on your game again, thanks for the experience :-)

LD41 — Combine 2 Incompatible Genres

HellScape by Cassio Eduardo 2018-05-13T13:44:14Z

This is pretty impressive! It's like a de-make of Doom of sorts ^^# I find the variety of the Level Design and the size of the map are really impressive considering it was all done in 72h tops, kudos to you in this respect! Beyond that, it's the consideration in level design I'd question - like the fact that you got a wall of lava chasing you making you rush everything... was that strictly necessary ^^#? Same aith the weapon pickyp key - why not opt for automatic pickup? I found the whole game rather difficule, even moreso with my old PC which made it lag ^^#, then all in all I'd say the bonuses looked too similar, especially in a game where you're supposed to outrun lava at any given moment so you have no time to ponder - I'd advice for you to find a way to indicate life and/or where the lava is at compared to you visually more explicitly so you can know whare you're standing AND continue like... staying alive, running around and shooting ennemies, at the same time ^^# But all in all, very impresive, good job!

As Vast as the Sea by MikomiKisomi 2018-05-08T15:43:01Z

It's a shame there's no music in the main menu, the music in the rest of the game is pretty nice actually - did you compose it yourself? Beyond that, I'm not big on visual novels and I gotta say [though you SPECIFICALLY ask not to comment on that it's the elephant in the room sooo sue me], I find it's a bit of a shame you decided do stay in your comfort zone on this one - you know how to make pretty decent Visual Novels, anyone can tell, and that's pretty cool - but the point of a Game Jam is SPECIFICALLY to put yourself in a situation where you'll find yourself out of your depth [see what I did there haha I like jokes] so you get to learn how to deal with this there and then... so that's what I gotta say. Who knows what you'll come up with next time? I can't wait to find out - take care :-D

Dark Soil by Pietro Ferrantelli 2018-05-13T14:52:40Z

This is a reaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaally good game I really enjoyed it! It's really well-polished the animation is really cute, the mechanics work really well, the game is not bugged, the soundtrack is neat AF... I'd argue that mechanically with the storyline it doesn't make THAT much sense to plant plants that are gonna try to kill you but I mean... I don't have that much of a problem doing that so I get to fight said monsters ^^# - very good game, really impressive in 72h, good job :-O

PinCraft by zenmumbler 2018-05-08T16:07:34Z

Neat! I played 'till 15.150, 8 deaths. My ball got stuck inside the red bumper on the right at some point, the bumper stayed pink and the ball didn't get out, but the 'R' control fixed it, nicely done. It takes me back to Pokémon Pinball back in the day but maybe that just goes to show how little pinball games I've played in my life ^^# I feel it's a shame there's no "nudge" button, that would have been a nice addition for more "control" on the ball and on the game, in general. Shame you couldn't include the crafting gameplay but hey, you'll do better next time! If all that's made with your own engine kudos to you, this is reallt impressive! Take care of yourself, until next time :-D

Build The Road Jack by badpaul34 2018-05-10T12:50:47Z

Really amazing! Incredible graphics, I LOVE the music, and the fact you had time to pot a track editor as part of the game's main mechanics is pretty incredible! I found the racing gameplay hard because it was too fast and the visibility when you're driving the vehicle is a bit tricky [maybe it's 'cause my PC is too old, I ain't saying ^^#], but all in all this is a really amazing game, well done :-O

Shuttle Launch by Tero Pulkkinen 2018-05-08T20:56:39Z

I found your game confusing... concretely, in order to win, I have to run in circles and collect the golden spheres, correct? I had a score of over 100 yet the rocket failed to launch, I found that a bit underwhelming ^^# Also the golden spheres don't disappear when you collect them, I find that confusing too. I found it confusing also that this is an FPS yet you can't play using the mouse. All in all in terms of graphics and sound it's pretty original, and it's pretty impressive if you coded the engine yourself, but yeah... better luck next time I hope :-)

Infernoculus by icxon 2018-05-10T12:33:27Z

This is really fun! I'm impressed with how finished your game is in so little time, ad your team ain't even that huge - very good job, I really enjoyed that :-D

Bari - The Fisher Plane by Scruffy 2018-05-10T11:09:09Z

The graphics are incredible, I have a hard time understanding how you came up with this in 72 hours only, it's totally mind-boggling! The Porco Rosso theme is fantastic, what's not to like <3

Now I'd say there's some improvement to be considered in other areas for next time: -the fact it looks so good can be a good or a bad thing - it lags like crazy and makes the game really slow on my old laptop - I'll try'n check it again on my new one I'm getting this week-end if I receive it on time, but in the meantime making a game that will work properly on powerful laptops only reduces your audience, it's something to take into consideration -the controls are too simplistic for a plane game I'd say - it's really complicated to aim correctly with "right and left" only, with the movement of the camera and all, I'd argue for this type of games, more complicated and precise controls that use more keys are better -it's a shame you didn't invest more time in the sound design, it would have been a great occasion to make the whole thing come together, with the Porco Rosso theme and all :-D -it's a bit odd that it's not possible to crash the plane into the environment or into the water IMO

All in all it's an impressive game, if you can come up with something as good-looking and equally impressive in the other areas of the game for next time, you'll win big for sure :-D

Humaning by PixelProductions 2018-05-10T19:14:11Z

OK so this game cracked me up and for having so many ppl walking around without my PC lagging and without crashing, this is pretty impressive! There are a fez flaws I'd like to discuss -why is it not possible to dismiss the tutorial fish on the left side of the screen ^^#? It's like you gotta wait for 5 minutes for the fucker to go away, it's so annoying ^^# -the shooting mechanics are really hard! It's slow, both the shooting AND waiting for your harpoon to come back AND I'm pretty sure it shoots somewhere on the left of where you aim... way too hard! Same with the bonuses to attract the preys you're trying to get (like the russians): they appear in the middle of the screen where you threw your thing to attract them, then they immediately start walking off somewhere! Can't they stay in one place for like... 5 seconds ^^#? There's a lot of fine tuning for you guys to do if you're motivated, but in the meantime, this game entertained me and made me giggle [except for the tutorial fish, I really wanna murder that guy now :-> ^^#] so good job and thanks for sharing, good work guys :-D

Putt-Putt BOOM! by LandoSystems 2018-05-13T15:44:40Z

OMG how do you guys have so little comments!? This game is AWESOME :-O! There is SO MUCH CONTENT for 72 hours, the mouth sound effects made me giggle, the level design and progression curve are really well-made... Honestly... come on my page and tell me your secret ^^# - how do you make something so fine in one week-end only? ALSO... best teammate ever - this dog pic wearing a scarf OMG - how is it called :-3? Anyhow I tim my hat to you guys, amazing job, you deserve more comments <3

Quest for Gold by Mordokay 2018-05-10T14:18:21Z

I guess I had really low expectations starting to play after checking out the screenshot that make it look like an Habbo Hotel-era game BUUUT... it's actually decent to play :-D The system to record the playthrough of previous players is genius! The moving platforms are too complicated to figure out and the board wasn't thought of as a "Ludum Dare board" as in people on here won't usually play the game through if one playthrough is longer than 10 minutes [in my experience] so I'd argue it's badly tuned, but the music is really nice and soothing... I'd say it needs to be further refined but you definetely got something fresh in there, nice one m8 and thanks for letting us share this experience, it's definitely original :-D

Crowdsurf by Joe Cowman 2018-05-13T12:22:14Z

Holy hell this is it, that's the most fun I've ever had with a text-based game! Awesome! I really enjoyed that! And it's really well-done too, with the music and all! You guys deserve more credits for sure, I loved this :-D The only think I believe you could improve for sure is having like a window at the top of the screen that stays there, that recaps the 3 words you got for your theme, so you can see them at all times... Beyond that... amazing job! Impressive! I had a ball! Thanks for sharing you guys, awesome :-D

Mortal Keybat by dob 2018-05-08T20:24:41Z

It's neat but here's what I got to say: -the sound didn't work in my browser [chrome] pver here -it's cool you have explainations of how to play here on this page but I'm thinking maybe you're saying too much instead of letting players discover how everything works on their own -it's a shame the little opening dialogue can't be skipped or speeded up ^^# -the HTTP5 build didn't detect my dcreen's witdh and the game was cropped on the sides

Beyond that it's pretty good ^^# It's pretty well executed, the story is cute, the challenge is original, I enjoyed that, well done :-)

Rocket Punch by piscythe 2018-05-10T11:30:30Z

It's pretty neat - it's simple and daft but it made me giggle ^^# - shame you couldn't squeeze any music in there but in the meantime you made something entertaining, good job :-D

RTHM by fashionbatman 2018-05-13T13:52:10Z

OK so this thing is totally awesome - dumb as hell but ain't that the point ^^# - I really LOVE the music, like fo real t works really well for me, the graphics are really simple but they work really well too - in terms of fameplay it's quite simple to win if you just bash the spacebar... which you may have figured - one way or another, it's the easiest way to enjoy the soundtrack which, again I'm really fond of... well done :-D

Seaman Sleuth by pudding 2018-05-10T11:50:50Z

Pretty neat! It sure made me giggle ^^# I men from the description you wrote in this page it looks like you're very much aware of your game's shortcomings so I won't elaborate too much on this but for all these faults, it gave me a good time and for this I say... good job, matey... Or whatever they say... Oh, you got my point ^^#

Wreckless Rally by Flaterectomy 2018-05-08T21:50:53Z

This is really fun! The controls are a bit tricky at parts but the graphics are amazing, the sound design is pretty fun, and it's just really-well coded! Also I ran over the frog at the start before playing in "hard mode" and the lil voice you put there cracked me up ^^# - ALSO the time lapse videos of the game's development are pretty neat ideas, I'll check out the one about the Art later on. Well done, nice game, keep it up :-D

Hot Meals by Thygrrr 2018-05-08T19:57:11Z

This is pretty neat! I'd encourage you to put the same controls on "A" & "Q", and on "Z" and "W" for 'em Azerty keyboard users out there ^^# - also it's a shame the cars' wheels that change directions seem to be the back wheels instead of the front wheels - this makes any change of direction more of a challenge than it needs to be - finally, I'd say that though racing and.. let's call it "cooking" ^^# are fun activities and good ideas to combine for this Ludum Dare's theme, I feel they could perhapd have been better intertwined in your game - instead of being separated as they are in the current game.

Except fot that it's a really fun game! I love the voxel aesthetics, the music and sound design are really well done, the game all in all is pretty well-polished! Congratulations, this is pretty neat :-D

Unholy Holes by Alchemic 2018-05-10T18:07:53Z

It doesn't work on my PC or on Chrome neither, couldn't grade :-(

Unholy Holes by Alchemic 2018-05-13T18:08:41Z

@Alchemic I get "Exception thrown, see JavaScript console" at the end of the loading time on Chrome - the sound does work and start though, which is uncanny ^^# - beyond that as for the .exe I use an old laptop running Windows 7, it has an Intel core i7 in there... helpful at all?

Prophylaxis by ruerob-hyky 2018-05-08T20:44:26Z

The graphics are really nice and it's handy that you don't have to start everything from the start when you die - also it's funny you're a candy fighting off teeth instead of the other way around - for once ^^# - beyond that it's a shame you were short on time... will you continue working on it post-jam :-)?

Race Out of Hell by MiggyG 2018-05-13T17:47:08Z

I found this game a bit barebone - the shooting mechanics are a bit incomplete seen as all the bullets can go through the walls, and I don't really understand the point of the circular saws on each side of the screen closing in slowly - especially seen as there is no score in-game - if there were one that depends on how high you go or on the number of ennemies killes or on how long you manage to survive in-game, why not, but on their own, they don't make much sense to me... This game's a good start, I'm looking forward to seeing what you come up with next time :-)

Type Skater by Swarrly 2018-05-13T12:06:26Z

OK so this is a good and original idea in theory, in practice your game is WAY TOO HARD OMG ^^# I ragequitted after like 2 mins ^^# In terms of mechanics I wonder if the space button was really needed - how about whe you hit a rale or bench or whatnot the game goes to "tricks mode" automatically? I also found the graphics a bit poor - sorry for being a downer, thanks for sharing nonetheless and better luck next time :-D

Crystal Library by Goplite 2018-05-10T19:29:01Z

That's a really neat game! I ain't big on horror games but in this one you can really feel the tention, it's pretty well done. The sound effects for the ennemies are really good indeed - it's a shame the mastering isn't quite on par - on my computer at least. Good job anyways, I had a good time checking out your game, thanks for making it :-D

BEAT KILLER by Dragojt 2018-05-10T20:00:52Z

It's alright - I found the controls for fighting didn't really add anything new to the mix, it just makes fighting more complicated for its own sake - the graphics and music are OK - I fell twice in that damn hole after killing the 2nd robot and I ragequit [I admit ^^#] - It's a nice little game but I got the definite feeling making it simpler would have made it better also...

Puttsy by morrilet 2018-05-13T13:29:38Z

This is a pretty good game, good job! I enjoyed this and played through all the levels :-D Speaking about levels, I was really impressed by the number of levels you guys came up with in such limited time, congrats! Beyond that the improvements I could suggest are cosmetic - the graphics and sound could be fancier, but the mechanics themselves work really well... thanks for sharing and good job :-D

Four Hours in Chernobyl by jusw85 2018-05-08T15:32:45Z

Your take is pretty interesting - I like the way it looks visually - it's simple yet effective - the little touches also like the fact that you can only "see" around you around a set radius are pretty well done - I'd say it's a shame 1) that you couldn't include any music and 2) that the treasures you find don't have any use within the gameplay - that last point would have added a fait bit of complexity, I admit, but it could have tied the whole thing together if done properly I believe. It's also a shame there's no bonus for getting back to the starting point just when you hit "0" oxygen... a bit grim and pointless if you're running around Chernobyl looking for treasures [that you won't be able to bring back to the surface because you're dead] ^^# Then again, the fact it's possible to use the arrow keys is very handy, especially for a text-based adventure. Nice one and in hoping you'll be back again in 4 months :-D

Felocity by Adam Wallberg 2018-05-10T19:42:49Z

This game is really fun and original but why is it so hard ^^#? I felt cheated when I realized guns let you only shoot once haha - I wondered also why there is no score on-screen, it may be a nice addition. Beyond that the music is neat and the graphics are really appealing - I particularly liked the taxt on the game over screen, it's funny. Not bad, thanks for sharing :-3

Crazy Cube by YANIV 2018-05-13T17:57:21Z

I was really impressed by this game! It didn't look like much but this is a really interesting qnd original use of a dye in-game. The sound didn't work in the HTML5 build, unfortunately, and the graphics ain't very fancy, but this is very solid game design... I'll keep an eye on you and I hope to check out another game of yours for the Ludum Dare 42 - nicely done, take care :-D

League of Adventure by Draklaw 2018-05-08T22:16:16Z

I didn't manage to run any of the builds, it displays the following line over and over in both cases: <-[38;5;160;1mrender_g13: OpenGL error: GL_INVALID_OPERATION<-0m where "<-" is just a left arrow [1 symbol, instead of 2 in the way I write it] :'( - I couldn't play it or grade it unfortunately - now from what I can tell with all the replanations on this page [I read most of them ^^#] it seems to be a little complicated, and a little demanding from the audience to read it all beforehand in order to just try the game...

League of Adventure by Draklaw 2018-05-10T11:21:30Z

@Draklaw Thanks for your reactivity, I run Windows 7 @Intel HD Graphics 4000 [dixit DXdiag] and here's the link to the log file - https://drive.google.com/file/d/1Yo_tpOyrAuvj0uH_BgqvOIFE7yn-oZji/view?usp=sharing - if that doesn't work please send me an e-mail adress or some other way to contact you directly, that'll be easier to trade log files - have a nice day :-)

League of Adventure by Draklaw 2018-05-13T18:02:38Z

@Draklaw Nah I just downloaded the post-drive build and the same error still blocks the build... better luck next time I hope - talk to you in August the the 42th edition, I hope :-D

Idle Escape Room by gimbalock 2018-05-08T16:01:34Z

I gotta admit - right from the get-go, this google link puzzled me - I advise you to look into itch.io for next time - it's quick & easy, does the job and it's just a bit more conventional as a way to share your .zip or .rar to get people to try yout game, I guess.

Beyond that... it's a really fun game! A little escape room cookie clicker... Hell yeah! I enjoyed that! I got a score of 12:02 and that's about 10 minutes more I spent laying your game compared to the other games from the LD41 I've tested so far...

Well done m8, nice one :-D

Hive Tower by Imperial 2018-05-13T20:50:34Z

It's a good start, the graphics are decent and the controls do the job - though it's a bit frustrating when your character gets stuck on the scenery 'cause he's JUST the size of one cell [it woulr have been easier if he was a bit smaller] - the main problems are the level design - it's quite hard because it's pretty much impossible to avoid the projectiles and the rest ain't so clear - how do I find some coins? How do I get extra bombs? - I think a more refined GD is what could make the difference and get all these ingredients to give a better result next time (y)

Super Hyperspace Rythm Plus Ultra by Kichex 2018-05-10T13:35:44Z

This is one swanky bullet hell you got there m8 I ain't so big on bullet hells usually but there the rhythm really adds to the concept - it's almost like the enemy pieces are playing theatre or whatnot, like they have intentions, that can be felt through the music - that + the synthwave graphical theme! Oh and the title cracks me up - anyhow, really enjoyable experience, nice one guys :-D

Sneaky Bot by ProdigalSon 2018-05-10T13:11:41Z

It's pretty good! I'd argue that it may be handy to show special wall blocks in places where doors are open, to have some sort of "save stat" so you don't start from the beginning again when you lose, and that the mouse is actually pretty useless - I'd consider binding 3 additional keyboard keys for the 2 options you get when you connect to a mini-terminal ans adding that key to these 2 icons so they can be see in-game, and then you can just keep both hands on the keyboard when playing, more straightforward IMO. Bot beyond that, this is a very good pussle game, good job, well done, I enjoyed this :-D

Forging Heroes by Guilb 2018-05-08T15:21:27Z

Pretty neat game - the graphics are really amazing, kudos to y'all! The music is nice but the main menu music's loop is a bit abrupt, that's a bit of a shame. In terms of gameplay, the game's concept is interesting - and the way the waves of ennemies are setup is well-balanced, at the start at least - but it's impossible to play if you're on your own ^^# That's a bit of a shame - pretty good all in all, good job :-)

Z for Zentipede by Rubber Duck Coder 2018-05-13T17:21:20Z

Pretty neat! The 3D graphics are really impressive for a game done in 72 hours only. I was wondering which installer is the most up-to-date on itch.io? This ain't so straightforward. Beyond that, I can't play it so well on my old PC because the graphics are too demanding but it seems like a strong entry in this Ludum Dare - good job :-)

Check, Please! by swav_gav 2018-05-13T12:34:26Z

This is pretty good, the whole thing looks very professionnal, the music is fantastic, the game is fun to play [as expected], I enjoyed that, nice one :-)

Blocks'N'Blaster by HPMNK 2018-05-13T21:38:43Z

@MegRabbit the HTML5 build is bugged, alas, it won't happen this time - have you had a chance to test the .exe :-)? @designernap I'm glad you noticed and like that variation :-D @Rebecca Kremer the leader boards may still be in the works - I'll bring it up during our upcoming Post-Mortem ;-) @ProdigalSon thanks for taking the time for the precise feedbacks :-D And yeah as you say it would change the game quite a bit - we'll see if we try'n work on a proper v.2.0 version and whats get to be part of it... who knows :-D @Richnou content que t'aies kifé :-D

Tetris Crush Saga by Colisan 2018-05-13T17:05:30Z

OK so I wound up testing this for hours instead f testing the other LD41 games I got in my tabs ^^# - it's really good and really addictive the concept is really simple but it's wel-executed - it's a shame there are still quite a couple of bugs (like when the pieces are supposed to slide down... btut hat they don't ^^#) and that the tetris mechanics (when you make lines) don't apply but still... I'm debating whether or not to play another game... SO MUCH TEMPTATION ^^# - good game, well done :-D

Attack on Console by tywiggs 2018-05-10T13:24:10Z

Wow OK so this is super bugged ^^# I didn't get the "mii" counter in the corner of the screen, because "attacking" miis mroduces no results, and then this final black big boss just reminds me of that metal yeti at the end of that old ski game on windows 3.1: when you see it, you know you got 5 more seconds to live in-game and then bye bye ^^# - Another thing, adding an "s" at the end of a word but ATTACHING that "s" to the end of the word like "milks" or "cats" or "miis" denotes PRURAL, now adding "'s" at the end of the word denotes belonging, like "mii's" means ---> "that belongs to the mii"... please... get that right...

Daxua by mainghia95 2018-05-10T13:43:18Z

Nice game! the animation and atmosphere, with the falling leaves and colours and all, are really well-done. Most of the game is just like push the button to smash [though it's nice your hits sever your enemies' heads, that entertained me ^^#] but the final boss is a bit more original - the additional memes in the dialogues is a nice touch. It ain't long but it's pretty well-polished - can't wait to see what you'll come up with next time - nice :-D

Honest Dan's Trout by Honest Dan 2018-05-13T11:53:08Z

It's a really interesting and original concept, combining 2 of the most famous 2D brick-based games ever, what I'm wondering is... how does this combination serve gameplay? Feels rather counter productive - either you prioritize the tetris aspect of the game and all you do with your arkanoid ball is try to avoid stuff while keeping it in the air, or you prioritize the arkanoid game and there ain't anything left for you ro play tetris with... In my playthrough the arkanoid ball for stuck on the left corner 'cause I lowered a tetris block into it and it just stayed in the ad without movine, which enabled me to just 'burn' annoying tetris blocks onto it when I didn't wanna deal with them - which is a nice perk but... it sorta removes the interest both of the tetris game and of your game... So nicely done, nice graphics and sound and execution of this concept in general, you did good work in this respect for sure - not as for choosing the concepts to combine... maybe there are some improvements to be done in that area for next time ^^# Thanks for sharing anyways and take care, see you next time around ldjam.com perhaps ;-)

Flappy Bird + Tetirs = FLAPTRIS by Mazzletov 2018-05-13T10:49:44Z

OH MY GOD! YOU'VE CREATED A MONSTER! SAVE YOURSELVES, AAAAAAAAAAAAAAH *sirens in the background* - lol no OK in all seriousness this is a surprisingly good game, well done! I feel there should be a special achievement for making a tetris line in the game because it is, cmon - I was a bis frustrated by the mechanics sometimes when your piece is slotted to go in the hole you want it to be and you time everything right but it stops half way, CMON ^^# and yeah it's really surprisingly satisfying and addicting game... well done and see you in 4 months for the #42 edition, I can't wait :-D

To the days with you, Piano by Luciax 2018-05-10T18:57:28Z

Aright so it definitely looks like you invested a LOT of time and energy into this game that seems to be very personal also - in the meantime... it's way too hard ^^# There are WAY too many things going on on the screen at once like you gotta keep an eye at the bottom of the screen for the notes BUT ALSO the TOP to avoid the ennemies and like... yeah, it's way too hard! Same for the piano notes to play - why are there 11 of those? 4 would have been plenth - then again, that's coming from someone who's never taken any piano lessons. I mean it's nice and interesting and all but it's pretty damn near unplayable so... Nice effort ^^#

Medieval Melody Mayhem by NoahRo 2018-05-10T15:12:04Z

Oh my god this game is so hard ^^# OK so IMO here's what the game is lacking ang what may be overkill: -these damn grey lines ^^# I'd argue it could be a lot more playable if ANY ENEMY ON THE SCREEN can be killed by pressing a keyboard key at any time, forget the grey lines ^^# -a main screen the game loads up to, with like a little animation on the BG image and a little looping song and whatnot -a "start game" menu in amove screen -a "restart" button on the game over screen

I feel the foes should be slower at the start then get faster as the game goes on

I mean all in all it's a pretty good-looking and well-made game, I ain't saying. ... It's just way too hard - that would be my main complaint ^^# - well done nonetheless, I had some fun checking it out :-)

Rockin' Horse by niterich 2018-05-10T18:47:33Z

Aright, I did 2:02 ^^# This is a very dense game: racing and medieval and futuristic horses and rhythm and drift... That's a lot to unpack! It's very original and pretty fun, I'm really fond of horse to be honest... I feel it lacks a tutorial because I was focusing on hitting enter on the 1st, 2nd, 3rd or 4th note, and then at some point I hit it off-beat and got a huge [grey] speed boost! Maybe you were trying to do too many things at once and it lacks refinement but in the meantime... It may just be the most original playable game I stumble actoss for this LD41 so good job in this respect! Also the music ain't all that much but I can't grade you too harshly 'cause you're a fellow FL user so that's cool ^^ I hope to play more games from you in the future, take care :-D

Hit the Green! by Azathothep 2018-05-08T22:37:27Z

OK so this is hands down the funnest game I've planed from the Ludum 41 - the Bossa Nova is AMAZING - the choral was a neat touch too - that american action movie tune for a bunch of seconds when U use the bazooka cracked me up - even the font is nice ans works well in your game! It made me legit laugh and I enjoyed it and for that I say... thank you guys! Good vibes! Keep it up I can't wait to check what you'll come up with this summer for the LD42 <3 :-D

Magic and Machines by tigerj 2018-05-13T14:31:48Z

This is really good! I enjoyed this game! My main criticism is that it's rather simple - the ennemies traval in a straight line, you got plenty of time to shoot them down, and they all behave in the same way - not very challenging. there's one little suggestion I wanted to make: I really like the UI U made at the bottom right of the screen with the card and that, I thought the face-down card at the very bottom right was actually a map of the game to let you know where you... couldn't it be both? That would be complicated to dev, I understand that - but if that face-down card could also be used as a map I believe it would be a nice addition! Finally, the idea to use Trello post-Jam to get players to vode for additional content is genius... well done mate :-D

One-Sec Bullet-Hell by rainysolar 2018-05-13T11:35:29Z

Wow this is really impressive well done dude :-O I'm not big on bullet hell games but I liked that. The sound and graphics are really well-polished, I'm impressed! It's tricky to play but not impossible, it's an interesting and original challenge. I marked you down on "Humour" slightly because well I guess the game doesn't lend itself to the concept too much, but beyond that, this is pretty perfect IMO... Congratulations, really :-O!

Tower Deck Furenzy by Seanharrs 2018-05-10T12:13:40Z

Pretty good! I enjoyed that! I particularly liked the installer - very professionnal! There may be some improvements to be made in the way the score is shown in-game but it's a really fun game, nice work y'all :-D

Recipe for Disaster by dragonslumber 2018-05-13T16:07:32Z

This is pretty fun - the game is still bugged and the vehicle behaves more like a boat than like a truck [aka it's slow and unresponsive ^^#] but the mood is right - the game song in particular is TOTALLY something you'd expect from a monster truck game from the 90s~2000s so in that respect good job ^^# That being sait it feels like all the pizza cooking is a trivial bonus and that in order to make good points you're supposed to play it like a regular freestyle monster truck game... that's a bit of a shame... still though in terms of graphics also it's impressive for something made in 72h, nicely done :-)

Flower Hero by Curt 2018-05-13T12:00:24Z

That's a really nice cutesy well-executed game! Really cool! I enjoyed that - it was lagging a bit through the HTML5 build but I got an old PC so - I don't have that many criticisms [for once ^^#], it's a nice concept that looks well-polished... good job :-D

Space Captain Rodriguez by CalebLewis 2018-05-10T15:18:21Z

OK so this game is too hard and way too convoluted IMO [I just bash H, J, K & L all the time and try to survive during gameplay ^^#] BUT... that sound when you die cracks me up ^^# and the graphics are really cute! So thanks for sharing and, as you say, better luck during the next LD :-D

Cyclevania by Allen Oliver 2018-05-10T19:53:27Z

This is a really fun concept, the title cracked me up! The gameplay and level design are a bit too monotonous IMO and it's cool you can shoot from your bike but the only way to play the level through is to shoot non-stop - why not maybe put in a mechanic that gives you a reason to NOT shoot sometimes? Same with the spike pits: they are way too treacherous IMO ^^# But hey, all in all this is a well-made fun game for 72h, great idea you had and thanks for shating, I enjoyed that :-D

SPORTS by Forest 2018-05-13T16:23:21Z

OMG I cracked up this is so funny ^^ I loved it, it's really hard to play 'cause it's really "EvE" most of the time, like the computer randomly playing itself ^^#, but DEFFO let us know if you get around making a PvP version eventually I'd love that :-P And that machine from ice hockey cleaning up the corpses during half-time hahaha you cracked me up nice one sweet as :-P

Birdy by HagamosVideojuegos 2018-05-13T11:27:08Z

This is pretty good! The audio didn't work on the HTML5 build unfortunately :-( I found the bord looks a bit too much like flappy bird and the platforms look a bit too much like mario, but the "punk bird" made me laugh so it's all good I guess ^^# I found the mechanics of having 3 lives only a bit punishing. It's a bit frustrating that the commands you type while another command is being executed just get lost a bit frustrating also. All in all I went up to level 5 and had a pretty good time. Well done :-)

Beat Warriors by Von Vista 2018-05-13T15:11:33Z

OK so the concept is original and the visuals are decent BUT I find this game WAY too punishing - I think it would be more enjoyable ot you could take a handful of hits before dying - beyond that the realization is decent with the menus and everything, the presentation is pretty neat (y)

KEYBOARD WARRIOR by croewens 2018-05-13T15:53:45Z

First submission for a game Jam ever?... Fo real? This is really impressive! First of all, I sometimes forget to comment, but the fact this game is plyable in ZQSD is really enjoyable [je suis Français aussi, les vrais savent ^^#], then the graphics and gameplay are really smooth! I'd say once I died there was no death screen, just all the characters [playable character as well as zombies] disappeared from the screen, leaving just the background image that would move around following the mouse - that's a bit messy but it doesn't break the game - then I'd encourage you guys to change the code slightly so the keys "A, Q, Z, S, W & D" can't be chosen to shoot, seen as they're already used for moving around, and maybe introducing some variety would be a nice touch, too - OH - also I almost forgot: the zombies could be a little more aggro, and put more pressure on the player - I feel right now they barely put any, they're a bit too easy to kill IMO - but beyond all that, it's a really fun and smooth game! If it's really your 1st game Jam ever well... do some more! You're already doing a damn fine job, nice one :-D

Dead man's hand by ItPlay 2018-05-08T21:38:53Z

The game's visuals are pretty well-made - to me the main problem is in pacine - the game is really slow and though the sound design is decent and reminds you you're playing on a map infested with zombies... beyond that you don't feel that threatened. And you have to take your time anyway because the turns are slow (when the ennemies are playing as well) and sometimes you have to skip a turn to wait for the right cards so the pacing's not really on par IMO - then there's the "search" card - I believe it would have been easier to enable searching the room and being able to search everything within a set radius - otherwise you gotta use a movement card, then a search card, then end your turn - then movement card again, then search card again, then end turn again - and that takes forever ^^# - anyhow the game is finished and not really bugged so good job - my advice is to think harder about how to make it more engaging next time - good job y'all :-D

Don't Fry Michel ! by Vladadamm 2018-05-13T10:35:15Z

That's a pretty good game! I feel it's risky to go for PvP only because less people will test youg game, I'd advise for you to consider taking the time to automatize one of the 2 players so you can play PvE in the future. Beyond that, the graphics are cute, the music is very well-done, and you even added the option to change the controls! Very good all-around game, nice one :-D

TechNaut by iLoveYourFace 2018-05-10T18:26:08Z

It's pretty neat, the 3D is clean, the universe is interesting - now it terms of gameplay, I find it lacking. It would have been more interesting with a bar for the booster and a bar for clinging to objects, IMO, then you have to alternate between the 2 - otherwise you can just clear the whole 1st level with the booster, which I did, and it isn't all that interesting or challenging. I was a bit disappointed also to find no end screen of any sort. Anyhow, it's a fun little game, good job to y'all :-)

TechNaut by iLoveYourFace 2018-05-13T20:51:58Z

@iLoveYourFace OK I meant like a bar that fills up and empties, like the stamina bar in some video games, you know? When you use the mechanic it's associated with, it decreases, when you don't use it, it refills - and when it's empty, you can't use said mechanic anymore - you know what I mean?

Dig Knight by Pixels Everywhere 2018-05-10T18:32:25Z

I'd call that simple yet efficient! The gameplay is a bit limited but actually it works just fine the way it is - I'd say it's a shame there are no bonuses or things that move to up the challenge but seen as you gotta make sure you stey towards the top of the screen and don't hit the bombs, it keeps you busy for the most part. Nicely done, it's a good game all around, nice one :-D

FishX Brawl by Lars Olav Otten 2018-05-13T11:00:33Z

Looks like a pretty fun game but making it accessible to groups of 2~4 people each with their controller only was pretty risky... I have an old PC and it wouldn't work correctly so I couldn't quite test it... that being said the face you had time to make a mini-game in there is really impressive ^^#

Rogue Ball by ctran13 2018-05-13T10:15:21Z

That is a really good game! I feel it could have been useful to add bonuses like to get more life as well as a "post-game" of sorts after you've scored, plys maybe make the goalie a bit more than just a big zombie player foe... but beyond that, roguelike foodball game versus zombies, wow, genius concept! I love the fact that the ball is your way to win BUT ALSO your only weapon... very interesting! I'd never play Fifa but yours is a football game I can dig, well done and thanks for sharing :-D

TimeStaar [Turn Based Bullet Hell] by NullCode 2018-05-13T14:10:11Z

This is pretty good, well done! I really like the little comments you had upon death, it made me giggle ^^# - the different ennemy types you had in there is impressive consindering how little time you had to make this game. Also all in all it makes me feel I'm that marvel super hero that can stop time... pretty cool ^^# - good job thanks for sharing dude nice one :-D

Incompatible Rally by Wassim 2018-05-13T11:15:57Z

Interesting, it's like you've spent more time on the game's com and presentation than on the game itself ^^# That being said the fact you got an installer and a page just for the game as well as a trailer etc. is really impressive, don't get me wront. Fondamentally, though the fact you control the car's direction with the mouse ad thet there's a "jump" control are pretty original, racing+platform=TrackMania, fundamentally - I recommend you check that game if you ain't heard of it. I ain't convinced the fuel is a mechanic in-game that's really important, I think you could have done without it. I'm really looking forward to see what you'll come up with in the next Ludum Dare - you definitely for a LOT of potential but I feel this one game didn't quite get there... Better luck next time, I'm sure :-D

Cat Pack by Potondo 2018-05-10T18:38:31Z

The real time vs turn-based element is interesting, but I found the game really hard! Keeping all 3 cats within reach and managing all the ennemies that keep popping up is damn near impossible in my experience! It may be helpful to make the "freezable" time more visual, easier to see - because all in all most of the game depends on this mechanic. Still, if it's one of your first Game Jams, congratulations! You got a little playable game that ain't bugged, it's pretty good! Keep going and looking forward to play your next title :-D

A Knight of Music by Danny88881 2018-05-10T15:02:03Z

Aight so first off be careful with your gamejolt links on this ldjam.com page, they don't seem to quite work [aka. they don't underline and then you can click them and BAM you land on the page - you gotta copy-paste them into the browser - which is fine too, but less swanky IMO].

Then I'd say the font of the tutorial text is a bit hard to read.

I'm stuck at the start of the 1st non-tutorial level because it's not possible to jump the gap.

All in all I'd say the mechanics are too punishing, you don't have a nice margin of error right from the start with this "either make damage or take gamage" approach.

The music and the graphics and Mr Nighty Night are all very cute and adorable but the gameplay could be better polished IMO..

Anyhow, it's original nonetheless, good work :-)

Raucous Raccard by noumenus 2018-05-10T14:48:01Z

OK so first I was like "this lacks a tutorial level where you can tell by how many cells each ticket makes you move" but then I got caught up in the game all the way until VICTORY (650 points :-3) and I gotta say... I really enjoyed the hell out of it! This is a really neat game! Well-executed, not bugged-up - a lot or people took regular gameplays and mixed them with "turn-based" somehow, and your game is the most successful of these I tried so far... I really enjoyed that, thanks a lot for making this experience for us to check out, it's been a blast :-D

Parashoot by Gnurf 2018-05-13T10:21:40Z

OMG this game cracked me up ^^# It's very simple but the text was really funny [I found] ^^# - my main regret is that after you manage to kill the 3 ennemies at once, well... the end :-[... why? MORE! I need more ^^# It's a really cool mechanic-centric game, like I said I wish there were more but I really enjoyed it. Also I feel if you wait for the ennemy eiffel towers to shoot then go behind them then activate your asteroid magnet, the game's pretty easy to win, but I'm not sure whether or not that breaks the game... MOAHR! ^^#

Way Out by Victor Lima 2018-05-08T22:08:03Z

First off I advise y'all to indicate on ldjam.com that you got builds for Apple & Ubuntu on itch.io, as well as Windows :-D I'm really fond of the vowel graphics, the atmosphere is pretty good - I thought the game would be easy as pie, judging from the playthrough video you put on YouTube - but actually, seen as I don't know the level design as well as the tester, the difficulty is pretty well-balanced, I found it challenging alright - there aren't any major bugs, this is a pretty nice game - well done you guys :-D

Let's Circle Back Later by Vahakn 2018-05-13T11:41:50Z

OK so this feels more like a social commentary than a game properly speaking ^^# I mean the concept is fun and all but you can't really lose and gameplaywise you mash the "WORK" button then you mash the "STOP" button, repeat - too limited IMO - it's fantastic if you got something so say but I encourage you to think a but further about how to translate that into a game next time. Take care :-)

The Adventures of Cake Man by MidnightRose 2018-05-10T19:36:25Z

OK so this is a fun little game BUT: -the controls are bugged - the character gets stuck if he touches a platform with his body and you gotta make the jump over again - also, sometimes, if you jump at the very end of a platform, the jump doesn't get registered at all so you fall to the ground ad have to make it all over again, that's frustrating -the "R" command doesn't quite work - once you restart the game, you can't pick uo any item! Anyway all in all it's a fun play, the music is cute and I gotta say I'm actually very fond of the aesthetics of the main character :-3 Good work, keep it up :-D
