LD48 — Deeper and deeper

The Limbo Runner by jk5000 2021-04-30T00:00:19Z

READY. SET! Hahaha I played this for too long. This was such a fun discovery. I could not finish the final damn Limbo King !!! Very humoristic but also amazing dev skill, all these transitions and 3D animations and AI ! :)

Ancient Maze (starring Mathilda Ayume) by Linky439 2021-04-29T23:41:43Z

Oozes with style, good level design, but very punishing ^^ Some deaths while learning the dangers of the maze were frustrating ;)

"Say Aaaah...!" by gilborn 2021-04-29T23:11:28Z

What an hilarious game, the tone is perfect, it made me lough at loud at the total carnage in my first try. This is amazing how the theme, music, mood, colors the game mechanics to the best effect ! Brilliant fun!

Dungeon Depths by MaximBegunov 2021-04-29T17:22:44Z

Excellent. First rope after the 3rd checkpoint gave me some problems. Made it to the end. Amazing sounds and style.

@kevin-s @littlegamer Thank you for your encouraging words! Participating and actually submitting this time, was a thrill! There are problems and softlocks because of progression maths flaws that prevents some narrative content to appear. I'll do a polished version apart from the LD contest. Couldn't get the balance right in time :D

@jungle Thank you very much for your kind words. I do want to work on an improved version. As for your preference for controlling the other side, this is a fair preference :) However, I hope to be redeemed in your eyes :) as I actually want to depict the foolishness and vanity of the invaders' "quest" through a different balancing curve. They're not really supposed to "win" in the end, and certainly not supposed to snowball like they tend to do right now.

@jungle Cool, yes I will post updates on itch https://tiltaghe.itch.io/

@strangeryann Thank you friend! Yes sure I'm totally cool with the coverage if you want to try out the game or talk about it on your channel :) I'll drop an email if I find something worthwhile sharing :)

@harmadillo Thank you. Indeed I think a mechanic explanation is lacking. I thought showing the character sheet was inviting enough that we will want to select another character to see his stats and therefore notice the drag'and'drop possibility on his portrait. But no :)

Deeper In The Night by Lorwon 2021-04-29T16:48:03Z

Interesting game I liked it :) I liked the mood, the atmosphere : the controls and the music do a lot for that. Kudos for coding your own engine. There is something to build on with the torch mechanic. Maybe make the darkness really dark when it is inactive? For now, I feel the darkness is not dark enough to make fire resources meaningful. I can still navigate without it. Camera following the slopes would be a cool addition too :) Good job friend

Jupiter Diving by juju 2021-04-29T17:28:17Z

Super cool art! Unintended side effect : I love the shaking of the characters when you use the mouse control scheme : as if by an immense air resistance and speed coming at him!! Is it normal there is no sound on web build using Firefox ? The gameplay is too punishing in my opinion though' :)

Dyb by Ratrat44 2021-04-26T22:41:57Z

I like this puzzle platformer. It is actually quite tense and scary but cute et the same time and the challenge is interesting and not unfair most of the time :) It seems the enemies are not scripted to do always the same thing, and their unpredictability add to the tension, but also to some frustration sometimes ^^

Vile Things by JakobTheQuizGuy 2021-04-26T18:49:53Z

Cool game! I liked the art, movement handling and the progression of enemies and patterns. Good level of polish, well done!

Deep Space Beat by Srynetix 2021-04-29T17:08:04Z

Very Cool game ! Love the crisp graphic, the rhythmic music, but most of a all the uniqueness in its genre. It's all a matter of small correction and anticipation. The controls tweaking is very good. The bouncey obstacles felt more treacherous at the beginning that when speed up (more bouncesss!) Tunnel avoider are a style of game I quite like :) Do you know Torus Trooper ? Game used flattery on me at the second attempt  deepspacebeat.jpg

Frog by cacciatc 2021-04-26T22:29:17Z

For the love of frogs !

Tropical Singer by Kevin S 2021-04-26T17:54:47Z

The story is really funny, I love the tone of it. Told discreetly but very well done. I do think like other comments said that the rhythm is a tad slow to evolve for a jam game. Overall really charmed by the personality of your game !

Outvoyage by jamr 2021-04-30T00:16:53Z

Game has a relaxing, almost hypnotic feel. I like it as is. My first reaction was the welcome addition of sounds to enhance this feeling. But in my opinion, don't overclutter it with mechanics, challenge, progression. It has its own virtue already. Which I really did not expect when it started. At first it seemed bland, but then it clicked. Good job :)

Deeper into hell by lisyarus 2021-04-26T22:26:58Z

I won this game on second try :) Very good game, fun, kept me entertained and interested all the way through. I actually passed over a "boss room" and it scared me so I continued to farm for upgrade. Was some tense moments. And I eventually reached another boss room that I completed in two passages. I liked the retro controls and the pleasure of upgrades.

Maybe another upgrade to augment turning speed would be interesting. Also, in retro games like Galaga or Roketz, too much of something (speed for example) is sometimes bad depending on the player and its control style. Allowing player to orient their style between agile, bruteforce, etc, could be fun also.

Actually if the difficulty kept rising we could reach insane level of upgrades :)

Psychology of the Depths by saintchristopher777 2021-04-29T23:28:06Z

Very interesting idea, although I felt more agency or consequences should have been given to the player overtime than it felt (with the cards played being still on displayed or consultable and feedbacks when they interact with others and have active effects. I'm not sure I grasp the mechanics though so, maybe it's me ;) I'm particularly interested in the theme you choose as a once avid reader of CG Jung. I've read 5 of his books and the Red Book ^^ I also played mentally about a game idea for a while using Jung's work. You know, he words this idea as follow : the more you go down towards your shadow (the Eye, the chtonian depths, etc) the more brighty shines your God, and the more you rise towards your God, the most tempting becomes your shadow self. I felt that ^^ Nice LD friend, good luck and happy game development :)

Troublesome by Roboolet 2021-04-29T17:46:19Z

Haha, quite a fun premise. The characters have a unique personality and I would have liked to see a little more complex fist fighting mechanics. I did not found any private property to enter into, if there is any ;) But I did enter a car and it allowed me to accumulate a good amount of prison days. The control of the car, however, is horrendous :D

Boomerang Basement Brawl by rhitakorrr 2021-04-29T17:54:24Z

Boomerang are always good to hit centipede. Good job this game has some style !
