I like the eerie sounds. And the 'oh my good look on the face of the character when you die. I'm too bad at playing to get anywhere :)

@mdotedot Thank you, maybe the controls need getting used to as they are a bit peculiar or I just made them shitty. Anyway I also uploaded a walkthrough of the game.
The game is so good ! I don't think I've played anything quite like it, at least the way its presented for this game jam.
The only bummer thing is that the controls make it border-line unplayable. I'm bound to get a cramp with how you need to maneuver to get the timing right, and I keep missing ropes because of how the grab key is positioned. Maybe have the space button be jump AND grab? The mid-air float is way too vital to have to choose between floating and grabbing.
Great work, you did an amazing job.
@wooliii Thanks, I wish I'd put more work on the controls.
Cool pixelart, but controls a little bit hard
@maximbegunov Honestly, if you release a v2.0 of this I would totally play it. It has the same satisfaction as some of the other classic "run-die-repeat" games like Super Meat Boy. I could see you coming up with some other cool mechanics too as far as level design.
This game has the interesting rope mechanics. Maybe the controls are a little bit hard. The sound in background is creating eerie atmosphere.
The graphics and the mood with it are really nice. And good job on the ropes physics. Maybe make the character jump a little higher. Great work :)
@wooliii the fixed version is out!
@voxel-forest @bubakgames @zevsehg @mdotedot Thank you everybody for feedback! I have published a version that has more pleasant controls and fixed crucial issues. The game plays much better now.
@maximbegunov much better!
These chains and ropes are really cool, well thought out game mechanics. Keep up the good work!
Just watched the movie cuz I'm not downloading random files, but I like the invention. Really good job.
Awesome game! I love rope mechanics and you nailed them. The mood and artwork of the game is beautiful too. A solid, polished, and fun game.
Definitely the most atmospheric entry I've played so far. The sound effects were particularly good - how did you do the death sound? The ropes were kinda fiddley to work with, but that was honestly pretty fun to work with, especially given how easy it was to retry after death. Nice work!
@john-gabriel Thank you for the feeback. I have very little to none expirience in sound design so I have used existing sounds and have just put some random effects on them in audacity. I don't know if it is against the rules of the compo but thats why I've excluded audio category from voting.
Loved the game! Great job. I enjoyed palying your game :) and was genuinely surprised when the ropes snapped which led to my ultimate death :D
Nice game, its just the controls need some tweaking.
Checkpoints get triggered by corpses ! The swinging need to be faster imo. The animations where great, and the rope physics looked great ! I feel like having to press "R" to restart is a bit unnecessary, the game could restart itself after a second.
I liked this game a lot! Very fun, atmosphere is great with the eerie background hum, and the graphics are very nice. Also the sounds the ropes and chains make fit the game very well. I accidentally skipped part of the game by triggering a checkpoint with my falling dead corpse though :D
I really liked this idea! Making these rope mechanics during a game jam must have been challenging! I would not even know where to start with those, haha. I was impressed to see that they worked really well! They looked great, and you could get some swing if you pressed the buttons well. It felt really good to make a far jump once you got some speed going. One bug I ran into was that I died on top of a spawnpoint, which then set my spawnpoint there anyway. This way I skipped a chunk of the game I think. Maybe another point of feedback was that it did not feel great that you did not have any control whatsoever in the air. This is just my humnle opinion, but I think it would feel better if you could control the character just a tiny bit in the air. I stress again that this also comes down to preference a lot! One other thing is that it felt a bit of a chore having to press R each time I wanted to restart (maybe I am just lazy :P). This was fun to play! And I was happy to see that my hard work payed off with a treasure chest at the end.
GJ, you managed to create fun game, rope physics is very cool. I think control remapper will be really handy, because i would prefer to have for example horizontal movement on arrows and vertical on WSAD or vice versa, but still even right now it's a very solid entry
Very nice and atmospheric. The sound design was very good at making me feel on edge even on the most simple of platforming challenges. I think it does end kinda abruptly though. And the rope physics can seem a bit too slow at times, other than that, it was great.
@real-flamingicecubegames @wuppos @hiki911 @thegreenworm @assertfailure Thank you all for quality feedback! I will take it all into consideration if I decide to continue working on the game.
I totally missed it that you could die on a check point and it would trigger. I will totally fix this.
@wuppos Yep, the rope physics needs a lot of testing and refinement that is challenging to do during limited time of game jam. Im just happy I made it work atleast.
Very impressive rope physics, challenging game and not in an unfair way. This is just personal preference, but I would have liked a little bit more control on rope swinging without going all the way to the bottom. Some more obvious indication that the rope is about to break would be nice too, I saw that it changes very slightly but it's hardly noticeable. Overall very solid, I was very satisfied when I reach the chest.
The rope physics are amazing obviously, but the pixelart stood out to me aswell.
This was a good experience considering it was made in 48hr, so I have just 1 small suggestion: I feel like a little bit of faster speed when climbing would be good.
Great job!
Excellent. First rope after the 3rd checkpoint gave me some problems. Made it to the end. Amazing sounds and style.
Nice physics, great atmosphere, all around very fun. I think it would be more enjoyable if the character was quicker, particularly going up and down the ropes. I think I got to the end, there was a chest(I think) on the left, and as I jumped off the rope the game crashed with this message: Variable obj_player.child(100027, -2147483648) not set before reading it. at gml_Script_player_read_controls_climb Anyway, good job, and good luck.
@xmatos Thanks for the feedback and for the error message. I'll check out what is wrong.
Interesting game mechanics with the rope! I was not patient enough. I could not figure out what triggered the rope breaking at one part and kept dying which got frustrating with how slow the character was and getting momentum. I really loved the sound effects.
Really cool game mechanics! At first I thought the controls are a bit off but after I got what I suppose to do I think the controls are pretty good. Good job on the game. The only thing missing is some fitting music :)
I got to the treasure. :> The ending was actually kinda funny, I was gonna give you some humour stars lol. Anyway, you set a pretty cool tone and the audio and visuals really aided it. The game was a little tough to control but it had a unique style which I enjoyed.
Some small improvements would have been nice, like automatically respawning after a second, and not jumping unless specifically pressed (I died once because I landed while still holding the jump button, and jumped again to my death.)
Overall a pretty solid and complete entry. Well done!
@maple Oh, now that you mentioned it, I shoulndt have opted-out the humour, the ending is kinda funny indeed. Completely forgot about that :). Thanks for your feedback.
Nice game. Perhaps you could've increased how fast you gain swing speed to make it all a bit less tedious. But overall it's a nice solid jam game, and I like the surprise ending. Good job!
@maximbegunov You're welcome. Hey, I noticed @wooliii recommend that Space be used for grab as well as jump. Space was grab and jump when I played. Did you change your game after the 48h deadline?
If you did, please don't, it's not in the spirit of fairness or Ludum Dare. If you actually placed in the top 3 of any category, people would notice. Make a post-jam version if there are things you want to fix. And if I'm mistaken, I apologise. Keep up the good work.
@maple Well, the game was barely playable for the people because of poorly-chosen controls and bugs so I made a fix. I haven't added anything new to the game. The rules allow bug fixes, I dont know if changes of controls fall into the same category. I've read that if I have made fixes I should also have a changelog, i'm guilty of not having one, I admit. I've written a changelog and uploaded the original build, that is all I can do now, correct me if I can do anything else.
@maximbegunov You've responded in just about the best possible way, thanks for doing that. People will likely play and rate the fixed version anyway, so it's better to do that than have a mysteriously updated entry that people like me might notice and wonder about. Good luck at the finals :)
Very cool rope physics! You can even swing, it stretches by itself - cool. Great sounds, work well for the mood. It doesn't feel like this is a jam game, the only thing that gives it away is the duration, in general, a very good entry! Unless, in my opinion, there is not enough of a segment in which one would have to swing strongly on the rope in order to jump. There is such a mechanic, it would be cool to use it more often. For example some big rope, and maybe there could be another big swinging rope on the other side of the cave.
Solid work all around. I'm impressed that you got a physics engine to work as gameplay within a game jam. I liked the (surprise) introduction of new mechanics. Good atmosphere. Did not like the blood/gore.
Really cool rope physics that make for a great gameplay mechanic. Took a while to get use to the controls but once I did, it felt good.
Nice look to your game, Like the art
Im impressed at what you've done during the compo. I found the mechanics as fun as they were challenging. It gave me "Getting Over It" vibes. I liked simply just swinging on the chains. Which is usually a sign of a solid core mechanic. Great job!
