LD48 — Deeper and deeper

The Hookmarine by Elendow 2021-04-26T21:43:28Z

This was a really frustrating, yet super satisfying game! Sometimes you do the most awesome moves, where you catch a barrel mid-'air'. Other times you dont catch the barrel and it tumbles all the way down again. In summary, great fun :D One little point of feedback is the camera. I noticed that sometimes the camera was looking upwards, whereas the barrel I wanted to catch was falling downwards out of the screen, making it harder to catch. Maybe something to think about :) Great job!

Deeper and Deeper by minibobbo 2021-05-01T14:14:20Z

Very well done! The game feels very smooth and polished. It looks beautiful, not only because of the dynamic lighting, but also because I just really like the pixel art. I thought it was very interesting that you could move the camera by throwing your torch. This is a nice way to deal with the 'jump of faith' problem in vertical platformers. It was a shame you did not do more with this mechanic. One idea would be to distract ghosts by throwing your light maybe? The main point of feedback I have is that respawning after you die takes quite a lot of time. First the menu has to appear, and then you have to press replay. It would have felt better if the respawns were instant, so that you could try again immediately (in my opinion at least). I did really like that you could skip levels if you wanted to! For a gamejam this is a very nice feature :D However, I did accidentally skip some levels without beating the previous one accidentally. (I had to go back to them via the main menu.)

I thought it was a great little game! It took only a few minutes to beat it, but it was a lot of fun to play. Thanks for making it ^_^

Embark by Pseudohausen 2021-04-26T22:30:14Z

Ah no! I got to a depth of 60 meters before it crashed. I would have played more otherwise :( Thank you for this great, relaxing game! At first I thought there was a bug which made me unable to move the platform. But as i continued playing I learned that it was intentional :) The first reaction was 'well that is a bit strange, how can I ever save all my excavators when my spell has such a long recharge time'. As I continued playing I realised I did not have to save all my excavators, as long as I kept my reserve full enough. It was a nice balancing between buying upgrades for efficient block-breaking, and upgrades for surviving. It almost had like a relaxing city-builder game vibe after a while. Thanks a lot for this! I might actually come back to this one later to try it again! (Although the crashes are a real shame. If you fix them, please let me know :D) My feedback would mainly be about the start of the game. First of all, there is no tutorial at all, which makes it very confusing at the beginning. Secondly, there is not much to do in the first level. You just wait until your excavator has excavated all the blocks, whilst shooting him down with your spell once in a while. Perhaps it would help if you decreased the number of blocks to break in the first level? I also noticed that my 'make platforms wider' artifact did not increase in price. So I could make them as wide as I wanted to :P Thanks a lot for this! This was amazing :D

Need more deep: Donut cover by Kurakurture 2021-04-26T22:03:20Z

This felt like a pretty unique way of doing a platformer. Nice idea! The atmosphere was also really good. It truely felt like a dark scary basement of a goblin. The voxel model of the goblin was pretty as well! I think some more feedback to the player could go a long way for this game. For example, sound effects when jumping/dying, screen shakes when dying (dont overdo this one :p), or even particle effects if you are up for that. That would imporve the game feel a lot, and I recently found out myself that that really makes a game more fun to play as well! I also noticed that sometimes when I missed a jump I would just skip a large part of the level :p Anyway, thank you for making this! Good job!

Challenger SUB by digitaldude555 2021-04-27T11:18:39Z

Nice little game! The mechanics were very interesting. You had to juggle evading things with your submarine, while also trying to aim the torpedos. I made it to a depth of 3000 meters, but then the meter stopped increasing, so I guess I got to the bottom of the ocean :P The main feedback I would give is that the game stays pretty easy all the way through. It would be great if the game got harder as you went further down. Maybe by adding more enemies and bombs. Another point of feedback is the feedback to the player. Juicy explosions when you kill an enemy, sound effects when an enemy dies, and screenshakes when you get hit improve the game feel a lot. I believe that that will also make the game more fun to play! All in all, good job at making this! I think the sprites looked really nice and fitting as well :D

Deepest Sword by Strega 2021-05-01T13:15:19Z

Amazing game! I had a lot of fun playing it! I agree with many people here that this could be a fully released game. The quality and polish are very good. The mechanics are very creative and interesting, but I must say that they can be extremely annoying at times as well. So I think that the length of the game was perfect as it was, and that it should not get longer. Sometimes the camera made me a bit nauseous, especially on the final level for some reason. Great game! Well done.

Through Dimensions by potatolain 2021-04-26T21:06:01Z

Thank you for this game! It was really fun to play, and there is a lot of content here for only 48 hours of work! Really nicely done! Unfortunately my character got stuck inside a rock, and I could not move at all anymore, and I did not feel like doing all the levels again. Otherwise I would have definitely played it until the end! (I got 19 gems, so juding from the other comments I saw a good chunk of the game :p) The only points of feedback are that at first I did not notice I was standing on one of those teleport places when I pressed Z, so I was confused for a while how I should swap layers. (The teleport spots also dont stand out so much.) Secondly, I did not realize you could walk out of the screen, but I did it by accident after a while. Great job! Really enjoyed playing your game!

Dungeon Depths by MaximBegunov 2021-04-27T16:34:44Z

I really liked this idea! Making these rope mechanics during a game jam must have been challenging! I would not even know where to start with those, haha. I was impressed to see that they worked really well! They looked great, and you could get some swing if you pressed the buttons well. It felt really good to make a far jump once you got some speed going. One bug I ran into was that I died on top of a spawnpoint, which then set my spawnpoint there anyway. This way I skipped a chunk of the game I think. Maybe another point of feedback was that it did not feel great that you did not have any control whatsoever in the air. This is just my humnle opinion, but I think it would feel better if you could control the character just a tiny bit in the air. I stress again that this also comes down to preference a lot! One other thing is that it felt a bit of a chore having to press R each time I wanted to restart (maybe I am just lazy :P). This was fun to play! And I was happy to see that my hard work payed off with a treasure chest at the end.

Oh no, I opened the door and there was a fish! by OursBleu 2021-05-01T12:30:58Z

Really nice experience! Well done! The graphics were amazing and the atmosphere was perfect. I really liked the idea that you kept all progress after you died. There was a penalty for dying because you had to go all the way back to the beginning, but the penalty was small enough that I was not demotivated to continue after death. Even though most of the terrain was made of the same material, it was still unique everywhere, and you had landmarks that made it possible to find your way back to where you died. I finished the game and was happy to see there was an actual ending to it. That made the whole feel complete ^_^

I usually try to give at least some critical feedback, but to be honest I dont have much. The grappling hook was sometimes a bit tricky to use, but nothing too bad. And I did not really see the point of the dash all that much (except for moving around faster). Thanks a lot for making this! It was very different from other LD games I played so far, and I enjoyed it a lot :D

A Shallow Dive by onnofal 2021-05-02T13:09:48Z

Really polished, beautiful and fun little game! Really nicely done in 48 hours!

The biggest complaint I have is the restart from the beginning when you die. It felt a bit annoying having to redo all the levels that I already passed before. It felt a bit like adding insult to injury. I felt this especially when I got stuck in the last level, and I could not do anything but die. (Although in the end it was ofcourse just my fault for getting stuck :p)

Another point of feedback is that at first I did not really understand how the spear worked. I died at some point thinking I would fire my spear, but I didnt and died. Then I understood that you move alternatingly with and without the spear, and everything made sense.

Thanks a lot for making this! It felt great to play, and it looked beautiful. The pixel art was amazing, and the colorpalette fit the them wonderfully. Great job! :D

Deep into the mine by BubakGames 2021-04-26T20:44:36Z

Thanks for this game! This was fun :D Those spiders are really terrifying! I made it to around 250m. As a little point of feedback, I think it would be cool if there was a bit more feedback to the player. Like little explosions when you hit an enemy, or screenshakes Anyway, good luck with any other games you will be making!

The Deepest Fish by LeYamez 2021-05-02T11:14:35Z

Really nicely done! I loved playing this. It was really relaxing at first, but in those later areas catching fish became real difficult. I loved that fact that you got better equipment as you gained money, and that you were able to catch more expensive fish. It really felt like a big deal whenever you were able to buy that new boat. I think it would have been really cool if there was a catalogue of all the fish I caught. I could look back and feel a sense of accomplishment looking back at the early fish. It would also be really cool if each fish had their own difficulty in the minigame, but I can understand that there might not have been enough time for that. This is not really a feedback, but what I think could be interesting is if you could use your money for other things as well. Like fishing rod upgrades that let you move faster, give you more life, or lower the time in the minigame. Maybe that is not entirely the feeling you were going for (and I would respect that), but it could add a bit more decision making to the game. If you had not mentioned that you could progress by clicking the paper in the top right, I probably would not have figured that out. Maybe it would have been an idea to make it flash or stand out in some way as soon as you have enough money for the upgrade? Thanks a lot for making this! Very well done :D

Dungeon Escape by Crazybot 2021-05-01T11:50:20Z

I got to 13 floors deep, before one of those sawblades in the ground got me. >_< It was really scary and tense all the way through, so you really nailed the feel of the game! It truely felt like a deathtrap. I enjoyed the intro as well, it really set the stage.

- For some feedback, when I started I immediately got damaged by rats. This made me frantically run into some spikes that suddenly came out of the ground (in my rush I didnt see the tripwire), and then suddenly I teleported to a different place (I ran into the room with the way down, but I did not realize that was a thing yet). This was all very overwhelming and confusing, and I had no idea how I should protect myself against these random terrors. I think it might be better to spawn the player in a peaceful room at first, and give them the time to discover how the game works. On the other hand, it made me very paranoid of everything that came next, so maybe it served its purpose. - The rats were really cool, becaue they made you run away from them, making it more likely you stepped into some traps. On the other hand they felt a bit unfair (for me), since it was nearly impossible to get away from them without taking at least a bit of damage. - I really loved the atmospheric sound effects! They felt truely fitting. However, the game still felt a bit silent to me. Maybe because the sound effects where pretty silent/non-impactful? I actually dont really know why it felt that way. - One final thing I wanted to note is that (for me) keeping my health high was a bigger problem than the time. I never felt in fear of running our of time, however my health got really low near the end (and evenutally zero :P). Maybe this was intentional, but I just wanted to let you know!

All-in-all I really liked this game. You mentioned this was a bit different from your usual games, but I think you did a great job! After getting hit in the face by an axe, I got very carefull when opening doors. And once I noticed that those spikes were triggered by tripwires, I also started looking at the floor more. This game makes you very paranoid, which I think was exactly the point.

Mineshaft by ditam 2021-04-27T11:40:57Z

Nice game! At first I did not know what I should be doing, but as I played along I got an idea of what good moves are and what bad moves are. I guess this is always how it is with these kinds of games :) My first game was a really tight victory against the AI, with only one dollar difference. My second game I understood what I was doing, and I won 12 to 5. (Although I am sure that luck played a large role there as well :P) The AI plays its moves pretty slowly. For the first game this is great, because I had no idea what was going on. For the second game it might be nice to be able to speed that up a bit. Besides adding a few sound effects and visual effects (like rock particles when you dig, or explosions when you use TNT), I dont know what other feedback to give. It plays great! Thanks a lot for making this ^_^

Archeo by zimny11 2021-04-28T20:47:18Z

I got a fame of 6200 at the end, but I must confess that I also stopped because I was going for a while and I felt there was not much more going to happen. The concept was really nice! I liked that you had to juggle time between buying things, digging, and cleaning your artifacts. After a bit I found out that you could just spam the digging site to dig, whilst cleaning your artifacts. Once I had 9 shovels and pickaxes or so there was always some digging happening while I was cleaning. This made it so I always had more than enough fame to buy extra time, and there were no real decisions to make anymore. The art was nice, and I liked the sound and music as well. The game was polished, played well, and after reading the short tutorial it was very clear what to do. All in all there is a solid basis here I think! Perhaps it could help if the digging site requires a few more clicks? Such that you have to divide your attention more. Very well done in 48 hours! Good job :D

Drills and Gadgets by RNGames 2021-05-05T09:41:46Z

Really good game! Well done :D

It was very addictive and just fun to play. It became stressful at times when there was both a rock in the way and enemies coming towards you. Especially when you introduced those enemies that moved faster everything became really hectic. On top of that you also have to collect resources to keep fuel topped up, and keep your health high. This I often forgot >_< Really nicely balanced between all these espects!

The fact that you had to gather the upgrades using your laser was a nice idea, since you have to choose even more where to use your laser. The only porblem I had with the upgrades is that I did not know what they did. The refuel and health ones were obvious. Then there was one with the image of a drill, so I guess this improves my drill somehow? (Although when I picked it up I did not really notice any improvement.) The others I had no idea what they were for. I am not saying you should have some overwhelming tutorial screen, but perhaps some indication that I upgraded something would be nice. For example, maybe the drill changes color, or has more particles?

A second point of feedback is when the enemies hit the drill. For me this felt a bit early, and there were times where I thought I killed the enemy, but actually it had exploded because it damaged me. Maybe the enemies should come a bit closer, or maybe there could be a bit more feedback when you take damage?

The start was a bit confusing, but very quickly it became clear what I had to do, so I dont think this was a big problem. Others were also saying they found the game pretty easy, but I must say I found it quite difficult. Maybe because I am just not very good with a mouse XD

All in all a really nice game! It is one of the most fun games of the LD I reviewed so far :D

Beyond the Canyon by Dante2001 2021-04-26T21:26:43Z

I really liked the story of this game! It stayed a bit vague, but I think it will resonate with a lot more people becuase of that. The story reminded me a bit of a game called 'the first tree', do you know it? I can recommend it if you like to play these kinds of games yourself :) I also really liked that you aimed your game specifically towards this community of game developers near the end :D Thank you for making this! Great job!

The Hidden Unknown by CubeX 2021-04-28T15:56:57Z

I really liked the atmosphere of this game. Even though it was very minimalistic with the art, the fade to dark really increased the deep underground feel, and the white circular mouse cursor also felt really fitting (maybe because it looked a bit like flashlight?). The information on the screen was big and clear, which I liked a lot. There was not more information than there needed to be. What I did not like so much is the feedback to the player. Sometimes I put down a wire and it apparently did not give me power. Then another time I put one a lot further away, which did work for some reason. I still am not entirely sure what the rules are. Does it need line of sight? I think a wire or even a simple line connecting the poles could clarify that a lot. Then, I also think it would have been nice to find things along the way. Some treasure to find and make the search exciting ^_^ Perhaps you could have found more generators, which would be an amazing find, since you would not have to go all the way up again. As a final point of feedback, I think the choice of buttons was a bit odd. I was not sure what an easy position was for my hands. Usually I kept my left hand on the arrow keys and my right on the mouse, but when I needed to place a wire I had to lift up my hand and bring it all the way to the E key (so much work, I know :P). I hope you dont take the feedback too harshly and that it is somehow useful! I thought the visuals were amazing, but that the gameplay needed a bit of work. Thanks a lot for making this :D

In Too Deep by RefraX295 2021-05-02T11:38:11Z

I made it to a score of 6987, how did I do? I liked playing it! It was all very polished and worked as expected. The goals are simple and easily understandable (although I did have to check a few times which crystal did what). At the beginning there was a real challenge. I had to choose between building turrets, or continueing to build more miners. At some point however I had more than enough money, and whenever the enemies came through I just dragged my mouse over the screen to place a whole lot of turrets. Maybe a bit more balancing is necessary there. As others have said already, I really think some sound effects could have helped this game a lot. Thank you for making this! I enjoyed it a lot :D

The Undergroundies by Wbertrand 2021-05-05T10:26:01Z

Cool game! The level design was really good. People already mentioned it, but you really managed to create tension by having those undergroundies chase you in that narrow tunnel. You go so awfully slow, and it feels like they will catch up, but then you barely escape! That was a really cool moment. Also that moment when you fall down and you have to evade undergroundies that fall faster than you. And then of course the ending, which I wont spoil for other players :) Yeah, this game has a lot of cool moments.

Others have mentioned it as well, but I believe the camera could use some work. The main problem is that you cannot see where you are going, and you often have 'leap-of-faith' moments. This also adds to the claustrophobic feel of the game, but for a platformer like this I think it is important to be able to see where you will land. Maybe you could put the focus of the camera halfway between the player and the mouse cursor? This way you can move the mouse downwards to carefully peak over a ledge, and it might keep this claustrophobic feel.

One other thing is that the art is very inconsistent. The pixel size is not constant, and the artstyle changes a lot as well. This gives the game a bit of a messy feel. I also think that the cave background is too detailed, which makes the foreground objects stand out less. This might just be my preference in art though :)

Anyway, very well done! I really enjoyed the short journey. :D

Into The Depths by Jason Wilson 2021-04-27T16:16:14Z

Nicely made game! I reached a depth of 332 meters, how did I do? :P I liked the game loop a lot. Each time you were looking for treasure and air pockets, while avoiding the squids and fish. At first I was a bit annoyed that you had to go up every time to get the upgrades, but after a while I did not mind so much anymore. It gave it a bit of a strategic choice to make, as in 'will this be the dive where I try to go as deep as possible, or will I collect a bit more gold to get an extra oxygen thingy?'. After a bit I had more than enough oxygen to last me a lifetime, but then one of those sneaky squids got me >_< As a point of feedback, maybe it would be interesting if the game got harder as you got further down somehow. Maybe by spawning more enemies? There was also a few times that I got through one of those side-branches, but there was nothing at the end of it. I understand this is just part of the random generation, but it did not feel great when that happened :) Of course, some sounds and visual effects would make the game even better, but understandably you probably did not have time for that after making the rest of this very polished game Thanks a lot for making it! It was a lot of fun to play :D

Edit: I also noticed very late there was also a shop on the right. Although, to be honest I did not really see the use of the attack mechanic. Generally just avoiding was good enough for me.

Sid by Stuartc 2021-05-02T11:53:34Z

Very well done! The game is extremely atmospheric, which I really loved. The one thing that bothered me to no end is that the music abruptly stopped whenever you died. If the music just continued playing I think this game would have a perfect mysterieous, calm yet eery atmosphere. The mechanics also played really well into this theme, because you never really know where you can jump unless you throw your light. Throwing your light feels scary, because you cannot see anything at all without it. Very interesting and very well executed!

Besides the music stopping, another point of feedback was that I sometimes did not know where I should go next. The exit of a level was difficult to see for me, especially in one level where you had to jump off screen. Maybe it would have been cool if there was a bit of light trickling from the exit? Another thing is that at first it was not very clear what buttons I should use. I tried pressing all the buttons on the keyboard, and for a second I though the game was bugged and I could not jump. Then I tried the mouse and everything made sense.

Anyway, thanks a lot for this! Playing this was a pleasant surpirse, even if it was a bit short.

Edit: I just read in an earlier comment that you are making another version. If you finish it let me know! I would love to play it ^_^

Hammer It In! by audioBusting 2021-05-02T12:31:15Z

This game was really funny and interesting! :D I had a great time playing it. Everytime I was like, oh there is a house, I guess I am hitting a nail in the roof? Nope we go further, maybe we are repairing a table? Nope we go further. It continued like this for a while, and it was very amusing to me XD.

The game is about hitting a nail at the right time, but that was not much a challenge. For me the real game was seeing what we would come across next as we went further down. Everytime there was something interesting and new to see, and that made me want to continue. The ending was the perfect cherry on top, and I think you could not have done it better.

I dont have much feedback here to be honest. I think the game was perfect in what it tried to achieve. Amazingly done! :D

@cppchriscpp It is nice to hear that you thought the difficulty was just right! I guess it really depends on the person who is playing. I myself really like challenging (but fair) platformers like Celeste, but I guess that is not everyones cup of tea I agree that music would have made this game complete, and I planned to do some. Unfortunately I have never made any music before, so I did not have enough time for this time. I will practice with that so that I can do it in a future game jam :) Thank you very much for playing and your elaborate feedback! I really appreciate it :D

@maximbegunov Thank you for playing and your kind feedback. It is really amazing to hear people enjoyed my little game :) I took extra care to add those little game-feel effects like particles, sounds and screen shakes. In a previous game jam I learned that does things are not just nice, but really enhance the fun of the game as well. So I am happy you noticed them :D

Treasure Dive by Wuppos 2021-04-28T15:16:09Z

@onnofal Thank you very much for playing! I am happy you liked it I agree with what you mentioned about the bubbles. It is actually true for all particles I use in the game, and it is one detail I am not very happy with. I don't know if you know Unity, but there I tried using the 'Pixel Perfect Camera' component to make all those things pixel perfect. However, for some reason it stopped working and I could not figure out why in time. Thanks again! :D

@zimny11 Thanks a lot for playing! I am happy you liked it ^_^ Haha, I agree about the music. For my next game I will try to make some (although it will probably come out horrible :P)

@rngames This is a nice way of giving feedback, thank you! And of course thanks for playing :D

@litmuszest Thank you for playing! Good to hear the difficulty was just right for you. This seems to be quite different for each person

@wbertrand I see what you mean about the spikes. I guess especially the ceiling spikes blend in with the ground tiles a bit too much. Maybe it would have worked if I made them blue as well. Thanks for the feedback and for playing :)

@oc1d Thank you so much for playing! I am happy you liked it. I am sorry about the speedrun timer :( It would be very easy to add one, but I feel like that would be against the rules of the gamejam?

Treasure Dive by Wuppos 2021-05-01T11:20:03Z

@crazybot Thanks a lot for playing! And thanks for letting me know where you got stuck, that is useful to know :) That part is indeed tricky, the first jump is really tight. With the second water part I guess you mean part where there is just a very little bit of water above the spikes? The trick here is to keep spacebar held while you jump, so that you immediately jet out of the water again. I would show you, but I dont have any recording software :/ I am happy to hear you enjoyed it anyway! ^_^

@dyroks Thank you so much for playing and your kind words! I am happy you liked it :D How would randomizing the order of the levels make the game replayable? You would still play the same levels each time, but in a different order, right?

Treasure Dive by Wuppos 2021-05-01T14:21:27Z

@brainoid Thank you very much for pushing through until the end, even though you did not like the difficulty! That is great dedication, and I appreciate it a lot! I try to do the same with the games I review, so I have a lot of respect for that :) I see what you mean, maybe a few extra jetpack levels would have been good. Just to let players get used to the mechanics more. Many thanks for your good feedback!

Tiptap the Tadpole vs. the Menacing Cthonic Horde by Knipsch 2021-05-02T12:19:46Z

Really interesting and fun game! I played it with my brother, and we had a good laugh! It took a bit of time to figure out how player 2 should play, since we did not immediately understand you had to drag the parts onto the monser above. At first we thought it was a kind of candy crash like game. Eventually we figured it out though, and it was great.

The game plays extremely smoothly and it is very polished, amazing that you managed to do all that in 48 hours. Here and there it is a bit unbalanced, sometimes player 2 was able to make a monster that just could not be outrun by player 1. This is also the kind of game you cannot play indefinately, because it gets a bit boring after a while, but of course this is completely fine! We also thought it would have been good to know how much the time the tadpole has to survive still to win, since this is not mentioned anywhere.

Thanks a lot for making this! I was very impressed by what you managed to make in 48 hours!

Mind Dive by LitmusZest 2021-05-05T09:56:20Z

Nice game! I agree with many here that the music was perfect. It is really calm music that gives the mind room to think, which perfectly matches the game! I am also in the camp of people who found it pretty relaxing. Just floating around in a brain, evading shocky thingies.

I think the game was a bit long for what was there. After a while it would have been nice to spice things up a bit with new challenges or new things to see. Maybe even a change of art would have been enough to keep it interesting.

Another point of feedback is the end. I did not know where to go when I was there, and by accident I touched the red part. I think it would have been better if the exit was a bit more clear. Maybe there could have been some pathway that lead outside?

Nice little game! Thank you for making this! :)

Treasure Diver by RocketNinjaGames 2021-04-27T11:00:51Z

Your game and my game have very similar names, so when I saw your game come by I knew I wanted to play it! :P Unfortunately I cannot get past the first few coins, maybe I misunderstand something? When I click on the screen the submarine goes down, but after the second coin my oxygen runs out and I die. I never have enough money to buy oxygen upgrades. Perhaps you forgot to add a "delta time" variable in your oxygen meter? (In other words, the speed at which your oxygen runs out might depend on the fps I am running at.) Another hint, I tried downloading the windows version to see if that would help, but this one would not run at all. Remember to not only add the .exe file, but also all other files it needs. (The ones that are created when you build the game.) I might also just not understand what to do. In which case, please let me know so I can try again! :D

Treasure Diver by RocketNinjaGames 2021-05-02T12:48:53Z

I gave it a second try after your tips, and now I understand the game ^_^ I think the biggest thing I did not understand is that the coins respawn once you go back to the surface. This felt a bit unintuitive to me.

I really liked the aesthetic of the game. The little submarine is cute, and the coins really work with the style. I also did not experience the problems with sound effects others did, maybe because I was not wearing headphones? Some music would have helped as well, as I am sure your know :p

Unfortunately I think this is not really my type of game. I lack a sense of challenge I think. It is very repetitve, which in itself is not a big issue, but here I did not really enjoy the thing I had to do. Whenever I made a mistake it did not feel like I learned something that I can improve next time, but just that I have to do everything all over again. This is just my preference of games though! The game felt very polished and smooth to play, so it was by no means a bad game! This is just my opinion. :)

One point of feedback that might actually be useful is that it was very hard to see how much oxygen I had left. A more bright bar might have been more visible, or maybe some scary sound effects once you started to run low?

Very nicely made in 48 hours! Good job! :D

CHROMAHOLIC by Secret Magic 404 2021-04-27T10:49:11Z

I really liked the atmosphere! The colorscheme, the pixel resolution, and the sound/music all blended perfectly. Also the room becoming darker was a great way to communicate to the player that they are running out of time, while also adding tension at the same time. At first I was very confused about what was happening though. I had no clue why I died, or what I was supposed to do. After a few tries I figured out there were multiple paths (I did not see the first branching path to the right for a while), so I understood it was a maze of sorts. It took me a really long time to figure out that I am also on a timer, and that those glowing orbs replenish my time. Perhaps it would have been good to space the first orbs further apart a bit more, so that it is more clear that the room becomes brighter when you pick them up. I must confess that I did not reach the end of the maze yet, but it was a really great experience. Thanks for making this! ^_^

And still the fire burns by Erkberg 2021-10-06T18:01:40Z

Hi @erkberg! Thanks again for your nice video and feedback about my game! I am here to return the favour ^_^

I really loved what you made. The gameplay itself was not too special or new, but implemented and polished really well. Subtle things like variable jump height and a jump buffer help a lot to make the character feel very responsive. The hitboxes on the flames were sometimes a bit unclear, but I actually dont think this mattered much in this game. It might have even helped the narrative, making it feel like you sometimes jumped through a bit of flame to get out

The story behind the game is what I thought was really cool! There were very few explicit words on the screen, but immediately from the beginning it is clear exactly what is happening. I think the beautiful music helped a lot with setting the tone as well, making it fit really well with the bittersweet ending. The minimalistic style also works really well for this kind of story (although I see that you plan to work on the visuals, and I would agree on that. Those trees need some love XD)

All-in-all a really nice short experience! I enjoyed it a lot! Amazing job :D

And still the fire burns by Erkberg 2021-10-06T18:03:31Z

Oh, and one thing I forgot is that it was really confusing that 'space' was not jump, but instead it was sprint. This messed me up a few times XD

Ice Moon by LTyrosine 2021-10-09T17:27:23Z

This was really nice and really different from a lot of other games in the jam! I liked the various stations, which meant you had to decide where to go next and judge whether it would be too far away or not. I felt the game was a bit frustrating at times, mainly because the gems kept falling out when climbing mountains. I also did not really have a reason to travel far out from the starting area. This felt a bit risky to do, since I did not know where the charging stations were and if I would find anything there. Perhaps it would be an idea to add mystery markers on the maps? In that way people know something is there, but they dont necessarily know what it is. This might promote exploration more. Just an idea from the top of my head though, so please ignore it if you want :)

I liked the relaxed playstyle a lot. There is no time pressure, so you can think about what and where you want to go. This was nice. The controls also worked really nicely and the sound effects fitted very well. Of course, music would have been great, but I understand the time constraint :P Great job! I enjoyed it :D

Nuclear Crysis by blackquiltro 2021-10-04T10:31:24Z

The tutorial was nice and calm, but when the real game started it got really chaotic! All the shakes and alarm sounds really sold the idea of an unstable reactor, even though the game was still relatively calm (which was nice)! I am not very good at this kind of game, so unfortunately the reactor blew up in my case :( I liked that you used the bluetooth boxes and bowls in the title screen, haha. It worked really well and is actualy a good idea to make it in real life first. I might steal that at some point :P

RUIN ESCAPE by reccy 2021-10-04T12:08:34Z

I think I could really enjoy this game, but I got stuck on level 3 and I dont know what to do :( It feels like there is something about the mechanics I dont know/understand yet, but maybe I just dont see the solution. It feels like, whatever I do, the path to the flag in the middle will always be blocked. I think a few more introductory puzzles would help a lot. Just to get used to the rules. That said, I think it looks really cool! The black and white is super simple, but it is consistent and works well. Some thoughtful music would have been amazing, but I am sure that was just a time constraint thing :) Thanks a lot for making this! I really enjoy these kind of games, and usually I am pretty decent at solving puzzles like this, so I was a bit frustrated at myself that I could not solve it. This is not necessarily a bad thing though :P Great job!

Unstable Concoction by theviraldragon 2021-10-04T11:03:48Z

This was cool! I really liked the idea of a relaxing potion brewing game, where the 'unstable' is the potion that you make. Cool! :) The gameplay was good and clear, the art really nice and music truely fitting! It all matched the calm atmosphere really well. The text on the orders was also really nice, as it gave you a feeling of the bigger fantasy world out there. Great job! The game just felt a little frustrating to me at times. In the end I was just randomly trying combinations of ingredients. It would have been really cool if the orders hinted a little bit towards what combination you need. Perhaps these hints could become more and more vague the further you get. I also could not remember which combination I already tried, so a little reminder for this would have been nice as well. Another little point of feedback is that right now there is not a lot of satisfaction once you complete an order. Maybe it is a bit of a stupid idea, but I think it would be really nice if there was some number going up the further you get (like money made, or alchemist skill level, or 2/10 potions found, or something like this). So that the player gets a sense of progression. This might just be me though :P I really enjoyed this game, and I think you could improve this game pretty easily using all the feedback you are getting! If you do, let me know so I can give it another try :D

The bone's line by Jungle 2021-10-04T15:19:00Z

This was really something. I think you did a great job here! This game fits the theme perfectly and shines light on a very important issue. Extremely well done!

I also think the gameplay fits the message very well as well. It directly has to do with the message, which truely brings the point home. The art and music were great as well. Good job!

Structure Rescue by GlacierEclipse 2021-10-09T13:41:21Z

I think the idea of saving people from an unstable building is great! It perfectly fits the theme and is a great concept for a game. I also think it was really well executed! I was really thinking about which blocks I could break that would cause the least collapse, but a the the same time I was under some time pressure because the building could collapse on the civilains any moment. Really cool!

I also really liked how there was the conflicting interests of getting out safely with the civilians, or risking your run to get a few extra scrap. Although I have no idea how this would work in real life, it worked really well as a game mechanic XD

Very well done! I definitely think this could be a really fun full game if you decide to update it. Adding a lot more game feel, like sound effects, animations (like a death animation, so that it is a bit clearer what killed you/killed a civilian) and of course some tense music would really help a lot I think. Great game! Very well done :D

Unsustainable by SaraJS 2021-10-06T18:41:57Z

Really cool game and really cool to finally be able to play it :D Watching your stream while I was working on my own game, and seeing you take on this massively overscoped idea made me feel better about my own overscoped ideas :P

The game was really nice and very intuitive to understand. As Hare Software also mentioned, sometimes the drag select would not work. I also had a few bugs where I could not multitask my people. I wanted to have one team on gathering wood, and another on making bridges towards the portal, but whenever there were two bridges being made at once, one of the two bridges would stop progressing halfway.

Bugs aside I think it was a really enjoyable experience, and very rewarding to get people to the portal. I think the kind of choices you had to make were interesting. For example, do I go straight to the portal, or do I take spend some time and wood to get to this patch of trees of to the side. I liked that it was not immediately obvious which is the better strategy. (At least not to me) In the end I got 15 people out, but seeing other peoples scores this was apparently not that great. I blame it on the spawn I got XD

Really great job! I enjoyed playing a lot :D

I really want to sleep! by bar0net 2021-10-04T13:40:15Z

This was really nice! I agree with ThePelranthean that the tutorial levels were very clear and made it very easy to pick up the game and start playing. I thought the concept was also really interesting! It is really interesting that a banner does not do the same thing each time. It also depends on what you banners you placed before. This makes a really intruiging puzzler, with many possibilities even though you just want to move from left to right. Really clever mechanic! The execution was also really good. Everything worked very well and intuitively. The only thing is that I often tried to drag and drop the banners without thinking, which then put the wrong banner down and confused me sometimes. But this is just a minor thing :) Another is that the music got a bit repetitive after a while. I think just adding minor variations on the tune would help a lot with breaking it up. Really great and solid submission! I enjoyed it a lot :D

Astral Instability by Thinic 2021-10-04T11:23:54Z

Really cool game, with some really good puzzles! They were the exact amount of difficulty, and scaled very well. The last level had me stuck for some time, but in the end I managed to solve it :D The art and music really fit the silly story as well, which was perfect! It was a nice touch that the objects changed each time you restarted. As a little point of feedback, it was hard to see the buttons sometimes. Especially when you just see a new level, it is hard to find the buttons if an object is on top of it. Usually my first few attemps were just teleporting around to see where everything was. I was also not a big fan of the extreme shaking when an object was near the breaking point, but that might just be me. Finally, some objects could move a lot more steps than what you actually needed for the solution. I think that in puzzle games it is generally a good idea to give each component exactly what it needs to solve the level, and not more. This is to avoid the player from becoming overwhelmed with possibilities. In this case it was not too bad, but maybe something to keep in mind :) (This is of course also a really subjective thing.) Thank a lot for making this! As I said, I think the puzzle design was a really strong point of this game, and made it truely enjoyable! Together with the pretty art and sounds this gave ma really good time! Great job :D

Astral Collapse by Richard Baron 2021-10-04T11:50:57Z

Nice game! It looked really nice, and I think the space fighting felt nice. Some people said the music was glitchy, but I did not have that at all. I really liked it and I thought it fitted really nicely :) As a bit of feedback, at first I thought the game was not working. This was because, even though I was moving, nothing on the screen (except for the minimap) actually showed me I was moving. I think some fire particles for the eninge would help a lot with this. I actually also made a space game, and I added a starry background you fly over. Of course, this makes no sense in reality, but it helps a lot to show the player if they are moving and how fast they are moving. :) Generally I would say a bit more feedback to the player, like more explosions or particles when you shoot would help a lot. Really nicely done! I enjoyed it a lot :D

Day Broken by UglySwedishFish 2021-10-09T13:01:08Z

I agree with everyone else that the atmosphere of this game is outstanding! Even though I really am not a fan of horror games I gave this one a try anyway. But as expected, I could not make it to the end, I am sorry >_< However, I think that it shows that you did a proper job to at least scare me away :)

As for feedback, I mostly have what other people have already said. It was a bit annoying having to wait through the entire computer introductory screne at the beginning everytime you died. I also never got further than the time when someone starts crying, because I die and I have no idea why. Apparently there were enemies that moved very fast, but I never saw them and this felt a bit unfair. Maybe it is the bug you mentioned before?

However, the sound design and after effects worked really well to create a super scary atmosphere. Amazing game! :D

Block Stacker by smt 2021-10-04T18:47:19Z

Do you know the game 'stack' for mobile? It reminded me of that game a lot, both in artstyle and in mechanics. At first I thought it was a simple clone, but then I saw that you could lose your shapes as well, and I was intruiged :) At first I also did not really understand what the 'sprint' was for, but once I had a shaky mess of a tower I understood that I could use it as a bit of balance. Those balls that come falling down from time to time are an amazing addition as well, and are really annoying. One time I had a somewhat stable tower, but one shape was sticking out quite a lot. The ball fell on the very edge of that shape and yeeted my entire tower into the void. Really nice moment XD

It was interesting to see that my score went into the negatives. I think I agree with others, that it would be better to be game over at some point. Because after losing half my tower there is no way I would have gotten to 12 meters with only those small shapes coming down.

Others said that the controls are too sluggish/slow, but I think I actually like it this way. It forces you to use the shift key sometimes, at the risk of losing part of your tower. Those kind of choices are exactly what you want in a game.

I really enjoyed this one! Great job :D

Dominion by Shootboots 2021-10-04T10:19:34Z

Really cool and unique game! At first I struggled a bit with the controls. It was especially not very clear to me that you had to press on the cells to make them do things. Perhaps it would help if they light up if you hold your mouse over then? Or some other feedback? To give the impression that they can be interacted with. But, once I understood the controls everything was very self-explanatory! With a bit of experimentation it became clear :) It was a lot of fun! At first I felt like i was losing, because there were so many green cells. But in the end I managed to win :D This bar up top that gave the amount of cells was really nice and added a lot of tension to the game. I enjoyed this a lot! Thanks for making it :)

Tower of Thoughts by Erukolindo 2021-10-06T19:52:22Z

The idea of this game was great! You had to think about which letters to use to patch holes, and which letters to use as stepping stones to get higher up. This was sometimes a bit tricky, and some letters where definitely better at certain things than others. I really liked the "I" to cover up holes, but it was basically useless to get higher up. However, something like a "W" is amazing as a stepping stone to get higher. Really clever, and really interesting idea!

I think the biggest issue is already highlighted by the other people. It is very unclear what you have to do and what 'repairing walls' means. After playing for a bit I figures out that you had to connect the blue bricks with letters such that the red brick was covered, but I dont think this was very intuitive. It also felt a bit unfair sometimes, because you must be quite exact. Perhaps it would feel better if the game was a bit more lenient, and would allow for a small gap to exist.

Other than that it was really cool! Everything worked very nicely, controlling the character felt good and responsive, and the sound effects were really fitting! This 'njah' kind of sound is exactly the sound I would make if I tried to fit something somewhere and it did not qute fit, haha XD

I thought this was very interesting and very enjoyable! Great job ^_^

Tower of Thoughts by Erukolindo 2021-10-06T20:44:55Z

@erukolindo That is pretty cool! I actually also made my own music for the first time this jam, so I kind of understand what you mean. It is very different from the other stuff, but I liked it a lot

For sounds I always use bfxr, do you know it? It is a kind of random sound generator, but with some useful preset buttons. Really useful to get some quick sounds during game jams! :)

And yeah, I fully understand that you ran out of time! It happens to all of us I guess >.<

Last Mile by kurrik 2021-10-05T15:49:23Z

This was really cool! These people are ordering some massive packages I must say! They wont even fit in my truck XD Playing this is a lot of fun. Just driving alone feels really responsive and cool, and piling up the packages on top makes it even better. At first I did not notice the number that said how many packages needed to be delivered to a house somehow, so I was a bit confused. I quickly understood though and was able to play!

It was also not clear to me that I could spawn more packages by pressing on the screen. Also this is something I figured out by just trying, but there was a moment of confusion.

I liked the visuals and sound a lot. Really cool game! :D

Unstable FLESH by foresherd 2021-10-04T13:25:19Z

Really interesting little game! I like the controls a lot, they feel smooth and responsive. The backflip is also a really cool way to add more depth to the controls. It is a bit hard to do, as other have said, but when you do it is really satisfying! I also kind of liked that you were just thrown into the deep at the beginning, it fit the atmosphere of the game very well. It might be a bit overwhelming gamedesign wise, but you just die and can try again. After a few times I got the hang of the controls and managed to collect all three keys :)

I really hated the sound effects, but in a good way XD

Great job! I enjoyed this one a lot :D

Unstable Mines by AppoxGames 2021-10-04T12:29:39Z

I think you really put your time in the right places with this game! The concept is super simple, but the polish and feel is incredible. Great job! I think this is a very clever mechanic. It becomes a mix of a 'bullet hell-like' game where you have to avoid bombs, and a football game where you have to dash and shoot the bombs towards the bombs. It is really nice how the bombs are both a thing you need to get close to, but also things you need to avoid. Really cool! The controls feel a bit strange at first for some reason. I am not sure why or what else I was expecting. This is not really a problem though, and after a playing a bit I got used to it :) Great job! The game juice and feel are through the roof and make this game really enjoyable. I had a great time playing! :D

Libra City by djee 2021-10-04T15:31:28Z

Nice little puzzler! I think balancing things is a very intuitive real-life puzzle which everyone has done before, and this game uses that intuition really nicely. Some basic physics education helps as well :) The puzzles themselves were nice and often had me thinking for a bit. They are not extremely hard, but I think not all puzzle games need to be.

The game could use a bit of extra polish and game feel, but I get that you probably ran out of time for those :D Anyway, I enjoyed playing a lot! Great job!

Piles - Pile it up by Mordrick 2021-10-04T15:54:30Z

This was really well executed game! I had a lot of fun playing this :D It draws from this very deep down instinct of putting things on top of other things (or maybe that is just me :P). I had a lot of fun with this, but sometimes it was a bit too difficult for my taste. It quickly gets frustrating when you take a long time slowly building up a tower of things, but then one mouse spasm and everything comes tumbling down, haha. Maybe this is unavoidable and just me though :D

Sometimes the hitboxes of certain objects were not very clear to me, especially the couch. It took me some time to figure out that the back part did not collide with anything, but that it did add weight. Nothing major though :)

Really great job making this! The art was perfect and really well done, and the sound effects worked beautifully too! I enjoyed this a lot ^^

Among Monolyths by Dekajoo 2021-10-04T16:53:35Z

Really amazing game! As others have said, it is similar to The Witness in ways. The first screen is the hardest, because you have no clue what to do. It kept saying 'look at the puzzles I already solved', but I did not know I already solved any. In the end I figured out that the flashing probably meant I solved it and that the change in pillar color indicated that, but these were not clear intuitively.

Once I got past this part though the game was amazing! I really liked how you kept combining puzzle concepts you learned before. This made it all a very cohesive and whole game. The story is also really nice and heartwarming, and this gave me the motivation to struggle through to the end. I did get bored of the puzzles after a while, but the same happened with The Witness, so I think this is just my preference in game :)

Really great work! I enjoyed this one a lot! :D

An oddly SATISFYING game by Duck Reaction 2021-10-04T16:15:52Z

I really liked the concept when the game started, but I agree with XSchaumiX that it would have been great if it was explored a bit more. Now you could often just completely prepare the path of the ball before making the recording. The levels were you had to change the blocks while the ball was rolling were the best. As a suggestion, maybe some levels were the ball is propelled through the air would have been cool. Or puzzles where you have to put something in the way of a moving block such that it cannot get in the way of the ball

The game looked beautiful and had a truely amazing, relaxing atmosphere to it. The music and lighting all played into this perfectly. The controls were also smooth (although at first I thought I had to drag the blocks out of the way, but apparently just clicking is enough) and the transitions nice and gradual. The game feels extremely polished, which is quite an achievement for a gamejam game! Amazing job!

Totally Stable Docking Simulator by mlkvr 2021-10-06T17:45:09Z

Really cool idea for the theme! Docking a spaceship is indeed something that needs to be very carefully, and you cannot be unstable about it XD I often got two pieces docked, but I could never manage the third one. For some reason one of the modules I already docked often exploded around this point, and I did not fully understand why.

I must say that at first I was very confused about who I was. For a second I thought I was controlling the big thing in the middle. I think this was because I had already pressed spacebar a few times, so when I pressed 'left' all the modules flew left, making it look like the center thing flew to the right. I was very confused, but that is probably on me :P Perhaps it was also because both the background and the ships were pretty dark, making it a bit hard to see what was happening

I agree with the others that music and sound effects would be great! They could add a lot to the atmosphere, and might also help with clarity. For example a nice sound when you succesfully dock a module would both give an adrenaline boost and make it clear that what you just did was good!

Anway, I think that is a lot of nitpicking and that this was fun a fun game to play! Especially for your first compo submission this was really cool! Those explosions once you missed looked really nice and the physics worked really nicely. Great job :D

@mlkvr Yeah, I would love to see the post-jam version as well! :D Let me know once it is done ^^

Tables & Tremors by SlimmerBurger 2021-10-04T19:01:19Z

This was really weird, but extremely fun! XD Hitting those tables was really satisfying, and it was a very interesting movement mechanic. For me the camera sensitivity was a bit high, which made it very hard to aim at tables in the air. But it might also be just me being bad at 3D shooters XD

I loved the creativity of this! Amazing job! :D

UNTetris by JaviCoder 2021-10-06T19:30:31Z

This was great! I really like the idea of UN-tetris XD It really was a game where you had to figure out which pieces to remove first, and which to remove last. In general I did not think it was very hard, but it was very enjoyable nontheless. Flinging pieces I did not want off the pillar was fun for some reason, haha XD

The game also felt really polsihed to play. The effect when you hover over a tetris piece, the slight rotation around the tower, and the smooth restarts and progression. All felt great and very professional! The only thing I was missing were some sound effects of colliding pieces or something like this. The gameplay itself was pretty quiet (no big deal though). The music is great!

Great job! I really enjoyed playing this :)

Helico Pter by 3LSTMsInATrenchcoat 2021-10-04T09:39:45Z

Really nice take on the theme! It was really difficult and I am sorry to say I did not get to the end of it. I got to the level with the red particles and the moving rocks. Is that near the end? The controls were really great! It gave an extremely unstable feel :D I agree with others that landing is extremely hard, and maybe it would have been better if you did not have to go this slow. The levels were really cool as well! The last one I finished was the one where you saved those people on a sinking boat. I thought that was nice. It felt like a non-explicit story :) Reall great job! I enjoyed this one a lot!

Unstable Vampire: A Text based Infinite Runner by Dobryn 2021-10-04T11:40:45Z

This is amazing! Such a unique and interesting idea, and really well executed. Even though it is simple it looks really pretty and consistent. The commands you have to type make sense and are very intuitive. There is also a lot of tension, even if it is just text. I really started to imagine what the situation would look like, haha. I think I have never typed 'run' so often before, I am pretty fast right now, haha. This is maybe one little point of feedback. For me this game was a lot of fun, but I can imagine that people who cannot type very fast will not enjoy it as much. But I dont really know :) Really cool game, with a lot of variety as well. Truely awesome job! This was the best game I played so far, by far :)

A Curious Case Of Lines by BridgeOnAStick 2021-10-04T14:07:43Z

This was really relaxing and a lot of fun. In the end all you are doing is just drawing lines, but it is a lot of fun. The music fits the atmosphere wonderfully, and the art is simple, but really cohesive and nice :D Sometimes drawing a line was not very smooth, mainly because I did not know where I had to draw.

Near the end the game became a bit trickier, but I think that was nice. The only problem I had is that I could not orient myself whatsoever because of all the rotating and teleporting. Near the end this caused me to walk back to where I came from, which meant I needed to repeat a part. This is no big deal though :)

Lastly, the end was pretty sudden. There was no final finishline, or final portal or something like this. The game just zoomed out, even though the place I was at did not feel so special. Maybe something that stands out as 'the end' would be nice. (Perhaps even just an empty straight road or something like this.) Of course, also this is no big deal and really subjective :)

Amazing submission! All the feedback I have are just very minor things. I enjoyed playing it a lot! :D

@3lstmsinatrenchcoat Thank you very much for playing! I am happy you liked the audio because this was actually the first time I made some music for a game :D Also thank you for your great feedback! You actually only gain minerals once you break the smallest asteroids, you don't have to pick them up. Good to know this was not very clear to you!

@dekajoo Thanks a lot for playing! Yeah, I had one playtester and they had exactly the same problem. I tried to make it a bit clearer in the tutorial, but unfortunately I did not have enough time to come up with a better solution. About the controls, I think I disagree. I had it programmed in a way that you could also use W and S, but it made flying too easy in my opinion. I also liked the fact that you had to rotate 180 in order to slow down. But, considering so many people found the controls very hard, you might be right. Thank you very much for your honest feedback! I appreciate it :D

@lovor I am happy you liked it :D Thank you very much for playing

I am not sure what you mean by control points and flight range. Do you mean like respawn points? Or points of interest to fly to? I think I would agree with both of those ideas XD And about the twitching camera, do you mean when you enter planets? I totally agree there as well. That needs a bit more polish

Thank you very much for your great feedback! ^_^

@echo-gameworks Thank you for playing and for taking the time to write down some great feedback! ^_^ I totally agree with both of those points. A lot of people have suggested to have more fuel, which I think is a very good idea. I can see that having to re-mine the asteroids is annoying. Maybe I could have let you keep your inventory when you die and keep the progress in the tutorial. Thanks again! :D

Going Home by lb01 2021-10-04T10:00:45Z

I loved this so much! Amazing job, especially in only 48 hours! The first camera shot was a bit confusing as I did not really know what was happening, but as soon as you drank water and the view became clear I understood. The first shot after drinking water is also beautiful, with the sun behind a palace in the distance. It is immediately clear where you want/need to go. The invisible character and enemy worked really well, fit with the atmosphere, and was a really smart time saver :P The little jingle that played when an enemy came close, or when you drank water, were really good as well. Amazing job! I really enjoyed playing this great atmospheric game :D

SpiderJump by QKboy 2021-10-09T13:10:36Z

This looks pretty cool! I liked the way it looked, and the sound effects worked great as well. The idea behind the gameplay is really nice as well, but it was a bit tricky to do. It was clear that I could press to make a string, but it was often very hard to judge how long the string would be and if I will hit the ground. Sometimes you get pulled in a bit, but other times I feel like you dont.

Collecting the bugs while you are swinging was also a pretty cool idea, but it was really difficult to aim for them. This was because the swinging was hard to control. Maybe it would have worked better if collecting the bugs was optional and just added to your score? (Just an idea though)

It was a really cool game, and even though I did not get far I enjoyed playing! Great job :D

Weather Control Device by Krjemelik 2021-10-04T15:08:44Z

The game looked really pretty! Amazing job on the art and the effects. I especially liked the winter atmosphere, but that might just be me :D

The gameplay worked well too, but might need a bit more feedback. Like sounds and screenshake! Also, it seemed like the game froze whenever I died :/ Gamedesign wise, it was not super clear what I needed to do. I collected a few of those green orbs, and found this machine, but I was not sure what to do with them. Did I just have to collect all the green orbs?

Anyway, very well done in 48 hours! This was cool :)

Bear Ferry Simulator by guntrip 2021-10-09T13:29:14Z

Although I liked the relaxing style of this game, I thought it became a bit repetitive after a while. There are not too much choices you can make. As far as I tried, I could only really fit two bears in the boat at once (maybe three if they are small), and each time I could just put one bear on the right and one on the left. Then ferry the boat, wait for the bears to get off, bring the boat back, and repeat the process. After a while the waves started to become much stronger, but I actually found that this did not affect the gameplay much. I believe it might help this game if there were more interesting choices to make. Maybe you can stack bears on top of each other? Or having the weather fluctuate, so you can choose to wait for a storm to pass before ferrying? I dont have any more ideas, but stuff like this to have a bit more to think about while playing :) (Of course this is just my opinion though! ^_^)

I must say that I really liked playing it for the first few minuted. It worked reasonably well, and it was immediately clear what the goal was. The relaxing gameplay was also nice after playing all these other 'unstable' games, haha. The bear sprites were really cute, and I think the music was fitting as well ^_^ All-in-all really well done! I enjoyed it :D

Stability Failing by professir 2021-10-06T17:30:38Z

I reached level 31, with 142 platforms touched. I wonder if that is a respectable score :id:

I think this game was really cool. The tutorial was nice, introducing things one-by-one, and with a little story in the background. There were two little points of feedback I had of the tutorial though. The first is that it was not clear to me that I should be going up. I thought I was just trying to survive fro as long as possible. I figured it out in the end :) Another point is that fact that I could not continue from where I died during the tutorial. I could either start from the beginning, or skip the tutorial entirely. I think it would have been nice if I just respawned at the level I was during the tutorial level. Although I can completely understand if you disagree with me on this one! :P

The gameplay itself was great! I really liked the simple, yet engaging gameplay. There is often this struggle of staying on a breaking platform a bit longer, or trying to make this really hard jump. This was fun :D I also think pico8 games are in general really impressive because you have to make everything from the ground up. Great job :D

Lovecrafting by Concker_88 2021-10-05T16:01:14Z

This was so extremely beautiful! I would love to learn to make pixel art like this, this is amazing :D The audio also fitted perfectly, creating a truly mysterious and scary atmosphere. The gameplay was also really cool. At the beginning you can still take your time and make a perfect decision, but near the end you really dont have time and just choose on instinct XD

I agree with many others that it was not very clear to me how the game worked. I thought I was just trying to keep the bars out of the red zone, but I never managed to make a monster with a name. Are there some more mechanics that I am not understanding?

Anyway, this was really an amazing experience! Definitely the most beautiful game of the jam I played so far! Great job ^_^

It is rainy by DeltaMain 2021-10-09T14:42:12Z

This was really nice and relaxing :D At first I was unsure what I was supposed to be doing, but by just clicking on random things I figured out, which was actually a really nice way to introduce the game and really sets the tone. The graphics were really nice and the day and night cycle was a nice touch! On my monitor the night was extremely dark, so maybe brightening it a little bit would be nice to be able to find the light switch.

I also agree with the others that some rain sound would have fit perfectly. Rain always has this very soothing atmosphere, which would fit this game absolutely perfectly. The minigames were pretty tricky, but I think that was okay. The only thing is that I did not really see the connection to the theme, but that is alright as well.

Great little experience! I enjoyed it :D

UR TNT by ADerpyChickenStudios 2021-10-05T15:34:01Z

This is really cool! It is a just a simple platformer, but with two extra mechanics: you are on a time limit and you can permanently break blocks. I think it felt really good to play, there was even variable jump height! Really nice job! (Although I agree with @teenythanos that it took some getting used to jumping with w instead of space :P )

The only bit of feedback I have is that you did not use the exploding blocks mechanic in a very interesting way. I loved the coins as an extra challenge, but to me they felt a bit too easy for an optional pickup. Perhaps it would have been interesting if you could make getting a coin impossible for yourself by breaking a platform made of boxes or something. But I really like tough-as-nails platformers, so this is probably just my preference :P

The time limit thing was really nice as well! I think it was done in a good way, with a quick animation that shows you ran out of time, and then a quick reset so you can try again. Also here I would have loved a bit more challenge, but again, probably just me XD

I really enjoyed this! It felt great to play! Great job :D

Where's My Tripod? by Pixelydian 2021-10-06T19:19:49Z

This was great! Such an interesting and unique take on the theme, and it is a really nice and relaxing game after all these other unstable things :P The hickups were a really cool idea to implement the unstableness in the game, but to be honest they never bothered me that much. They usually did not appear when I was taking pictures of animals

I was really hoping to have a collection of all the pictures I took at the end, but I guess this was too much work for limited time :P I really loved the art a lot! I am always a fan of pixel art in general, but here I think you truly captured the forest very well. The animals were all amazing as well. Together with the calming music and sound effects this was a really immersive experience! Great job! I loved this :D

Kattonauten by Elastic 2021-10-04T13:14:25Z

Pretty cool game! Although, as many people have said, I find the game very difficult, mainly because of the unusual controls. I think it would have helped if there were a few more easy levels to get used to it, especially the hover. The hover feels extremely sensitive, if I move just a little bit I fly halfway across the screen. Another thing that makes the controls tricky is the wall bounces. I was finally able to slowly fly down into a shaft with the hover on, but then I lightly touched the wall and again I was pushed very strongly straight into some water. Maybe this is what you want it to be like, but at least to me this felt a bit unfair :) (This might also be because I dont have a complete grasp of the controls yet, which makes me unable to react to such occurances.) Besides the difficulty I thought it was an amazingly polished and complete game! That you made this in 48 hours is amazing, and that you made it in pico8 is even cooler! I have tried pico8 a few times myself, but I have no idea how I would even start making this. Do you have some way to keep your code organized? Because for me the pico8 code quickly becomes a big mess XD The art was also amazing, and the sounds fit perfectly. Really well done! :D

LD50 — Delay the inevitable

Decisive Battle by Erkberg 2022-04-05T03:32:00Z

I liked this! The atmosphere (or maybe especially the music) makes the game kind of sad. Together with the fact that it is very easy to win the game by killing makes it feel very uncomfortable. Like you know you are way more powerful than these monsters, but that you really don't want to kill them. At the same time there is this text at the top pushing you to kill them nontheless. Very cool!

The gameplay was pretty good too. It took some time to learn the behaviour of the enemies and when to click, but I think this is fine. I managed to beat the game by killing all enemies, which was (as you mentioned) very easy. I also tried to beat it without killing anyone, but this I did not manage (I could not get past the fourth enemy).

What I think this game is lacking is a bit more polish and feel. Sound effects, or a bit more visual indications that you hit/dodged perfectly. For the atmosphere it might also help if, instead of healthbars, the amount of health was unclear, but indicated by the wounded/fatigued visuals of the enemy? Just a small idea :) Finally, it would have been nice to have some kind of ending besides the text to really drive the message home. Of course I completely understand that it was impossible to do that in 48 hours though :P

Thanks a lot for making this! I enjoyed it :D

Chickenator by clemall 2022-04-16T23:56:17Z

I haven't played many games like this in the jam, I liked it! In the end there was just a fixed set of upgrades you could get, so it was up to the player to choose the correct order to get them. If you did not choose correctly the enemies would come closer and kill you. For me, I chose to go with the egg-value upgrades at the start and this turned out to be quite powerful. Maybe a bit more balancing is needed :P

I think this game could benefit a lot from more gamefeel, such as nice effects when you pick up eggs, or flashy buttons and sounds when you buy an upgrade. I already really liked how the appearance of the chicken changed as you picked some of those last upgrades. Really cool!

All-in-all really solid submission! I had a lot of fun :D

Shadow Crash by tanis 2022-04-11T02:16:37Z

The art of this game was amazing! It really set this dark and alien atmosphere, which was exactly what the game was about. The sounds were great too, except for the jump sound, which felt a bit too sudden for me. I was intrigued by the story/gameplay as well, but I was not sure what to do after I had brought my first cat to the machine. I brought more cats to it, but nothing seemed to happen :/

The platformer controls felt a bit sudden, especially the jump. The extremely fast up and very slow down felt a bit strange. I would also consider adding things like 'cayote time' when you run off an edge and want to jump. Now I often ran off an edge, but it did not register my jump because I was just too late with pressing jump. Adding a cayote time where you have a slight time period that you can jump after leaving the ledge could make this feel a lot better I think.

This game looks amazing and I think the gameplay could be really nice with a few tweaks as well. I think the main problem for me was clarity as to what I should be doing. Anyway, solid submission and great job! :D

Eternal Crisis by cerno-b 2022-04-06T00:42:34Z

This was a lot of fun! I got to round 9 :D

Were those procedurally generated bosses, or did you make them by hand? Either way, it was really impressive how you made such interesting enemies out of all those puzzle pieces. Each weapon really was unique, and during my second playthrough I knew which gun did what. This made me able to target specific weapons I found annoying (those heat seaking missiles for example!) and destroy those. Of course, this does take a lot of time, so maybe I should just focus on the core instead? All-in-all I think there was a lot of decision making that needed to be done and it was great :D The music and art were both really nice as well. Very impressive that you managed to do all that in 48 hours!

If I had to be picky I would say that the impact of the bullets on the bosses was a bit unimpactfull. The destruction of stuff was great, but the bullets themselves impacting did not have any effects. Maybe some small explosions/particles or something would be nice?

Anyway, really well done! I enjoyed this a lot :D

Dungeon Escape by mar3k 2022-04-07T00:05:03Z

This was a very solid submission! I did not have Java jdk installed, but after installing that everything ran just fine :) It was interesting having to run away from the monsters instead of fighting them. Many times I walked right to get a monster to move right, and then quickly ran past them on the left. This worked suprisingly well, and felt really nice to pull off :D

My only feedback is that sometimes it was a bit unclear what things did. Like it took me a few tries to figure out that those red circles on the ground damaged me, and I had no idea how to collect coins until I accidentally killed a slime. I just tried to run away from all the monsters, so I had no idea that slimes drop very useful stuff. The boss room when I died I also did not understand, but maybe that was the point XD Maybe another tiny problem is that one time I ran into an impossible situation where two skeletons were blocking a path, followed by an unavoidable red circle on the ground. The damaged combined of those two traps was enough to kill me, but I had no other way to get through that. Just bad luck of the RNG I guess :)

The art, sounds and music were all amazing as well! Really impressive you did all that in only 48 hours! Thanks a lot for this! This was very interesting and a lot of fun :D

The Floor Is Lava by Nick Rafalski 2022-04-06T01:41:38Z

This game felt great to play when I managed to put a few blocks on top each other in quick succession. Then, when I inevitably dropped one in the lava, the little 'shi*' and 'f*ck' narated exactly how I felt, haha XD I think the strong point of this game was the smooth gameplay, and how satisfying it is. Also, dropping a block in one of those holes really lowered the lava quite a lot, which felt really nice :) I liked the music too, and showing the tower you built after you die is a nice little touch.

The only bug I ran into was that when a block fall kind of stable, but sideways, it would take a long time for the game to register that it was valid. And even then it was kind of impossible to put something on top of it

But this was a really minor problem that I ran into only once. This was great! I enjoyed this a lot :D

Color Clock by mixon00 2022-04-06T00:20:23Z

I managed to get 17 points :) This was amazingly addictive! This is one of those games that you can accidentally end up playing for way longer than you intended, simply because it is so easy to start another round :P It looks really stylish and consistent, so great job with that! (It is a shame there are no sounds, but you probable know this :P )

The few bits of criticism I have have to do with the colors. Sometimes it was very difficult to differentiate two colors. I once had three yellow ones next to each other, and it was very hard to see where one box ended and the other began. Maybe you can have it so there will always be a box with another color in between? Another point has to do with the marker that shows which box you need to hit. This one was also a bit hard to see against the background sometimes, and might deserve to stand out a bit more in my opinion.

But those are really just minor points, great job with this game! A very simple gameplay loop, but polished very well! Thanks a lot for making this, it was great fun :D

STUDY LADY (cookie mix) by PeachTreeOath 2022-04-11T01:52:46Z

This was really cool! The entire atmosphere was weird, but amazing. I watched the video that it was inspired on, and I can definetely feel the same vibes :D It is also oddly satisfying that it feels fun just to see those number go up faster and faster. I have never really played clicker games, so that is a new experience for me XD It was also fun trying to figure out which generators are the most efficient. Should I buy this cheap one here right now, or should I save up for that big one at the end? Really cool choices. Often I would just instantly press the buy button once it lit up out of reflex, which was often a bad choice in the end XD

The music was really well chosen, because it did not get annoying. Even after listening to it for I don't know how many iterations it was still nice to bob my head to it. Of course the art was absolutely amazing too and very funny! Especially that cat, haha

My only complaint is that it took way too long to get through the game for my liking (although I did do it!). It also took longer and longer, because to make any progress in world 3 I had to wait through world 1 and 2 as well. Maybe I just did not buy my point generators properly, or this is just not my type of game, but that was my experience nontheless. Even though I really enjoyed the first and second world, so if it ended after the second world I think I would have been very satisfied. But again, that is just my opinion, so do with it what you want :)

All-in-all an amazing experience of a game! A great submission to the jam. I had a great time playing it, and thanks a lot for making this :D

The Sea Won't Stop by m11 2022-04-05T03:37:17Z

Dont Sleep by PhoenixofForce 2022-04-07T00:20:12Z

This was really nice and relaxing! Just going by all the activities to see what they would do. The animations and the text really made this game, especially the dancing animation was great :P I think sounds would have added a lot to this game. Like some actually loud music when you turned on the music, or some gaming noises behind the computer. I understand very well that the time was limited though :) What I also really enjoyed is that it recognized when you did a certain activity multiple times. A bit of fourth wall breaking like 'Did I not just do that already?' made me laugh XD

I expected that A and D on the keyboard would move the camera sideways, but instead it moved the camera up and down for me? This was a bit odd, but luckily there were the buttons on the screen I could use.

I am also always impressed when people use their own engine. I cannot imagine what kind of trouble it must be to go through all that when I already have a lot of trouble using a pre-made engine >.< Very nice submission to the jam! I had a lot of fun :D

Swerve City by SleepyStudios 2022-04-11T02:05:08Z

This was really fun! The game was a very creative take on the theme and really well polished! I really felt like a trapped mouse, trying to delay the inevitable :P The sudden turn controls were a bit suprising at first, bit I quickly became used to it. It was actually really nice to have super responsive controls!

I sometimes had that a missile strike would happen immediately after I turned a corner where I could not see the road, which felt a little unfair. Also at some point a police car chased me from behind and in the end caught me, but I don't really know how I could have avoided that.

The music could have been a bit more intense for my tastes, but I think the sound effects were chosen really well! The police sirens, and the slipping tires when taking a turn really felt great and were super immersive! I liked the camera angle as well. Nice and low to the ground, which made the world feel very claustrophobic :) Very solid submission to the jam! I had a lot of fun with this :D

Crisis Bot by The Great Gallus 2022-04-07T23:56:31Z

I liked the idea a lot, trying to run from one end to the map stopping those bombs from exploding. Sometimes you had to make interesting choices like choosing to get to this bomb that is closeby, or go to the bomb far away that is almost exploding. Or choosing to just let one of the rooms go or not. I think it has a lot of promise!

The only problem is that the walking from one end of the room to the other quickly becomes boring. I think a lot of this could already be fixed by making the movement feel more juicy, with animations, sound effects and particles. Maybe the sprint button could also be a bit more interesting than just making you faster. I believe little things like those can make the simple act of walking a lot more fun, which would increase the fun of this game a lot as well!

I think the game plays very intuitively and does not need much of a tutorial (except maybe for the controls which I found on the itch page). The bombs that are changing colors are something that you are intuitively drawn towards because it stands out quite a lot on the board. And when they then disappear when you are close to them makes it immediately obvious what you did. The only thing that was not very clear to me was that I could run out of power. But also here the yellow lightning signs on the floor made it pretty clear what I was supposed to do about that.

All-in-all I think this was a solid submission and very well done in only 48 hours! Some game juicy would do magic for this game I think :) Thanks a lot for making this!

Chronolapse by NeitherNathan 2022-04-08T00:36:38Z

It took me really quite a few tries to get the hang of the controls. I kept thinking I missed something, but no, the controls are just like they are. In the beginning the strong inertia was really annoying, but as I got the hang of it that actually became the fun part. With a bit of run-up you could do massive jumps, but they were tricky to pull off. I think you nailed the movement system, but might need a better way to introduce it.

With the mechanics of finding the token I had the exact same experience. It told me to look at the clock for the direction of the token, but I was like 'what clock'? There were clocks on the ground, there was a clock on my watch and there was a clock in the sky, so I had no idea where to look. Eventually I figured out I had to look at all the clocks on the ground, and after I noticed this the game became a lot of fun. I was no longer running around aimlessly trying to find this token, but instead had a bit of direction.

So once I understood how I could control the character and what I was supposed to do I think this game was absolutely amazing! It was so much fun to just jump around and pull off crazy jumps. You also had to hurry up quite a bit because the time was always running out. This forced the player to actually try those hard jumps instead of playing it safe. I think the mechanics and the controls really boosted each other in that way. The music, sounds and art were also very coherent and gave the whole game a mysterious atmosphere that I really liked.

So all-in-all, an amazing game with a difficult learning curve :) Really well done in 72 hours! I am really happy I played this one :D

Rising Tide by VivianMochi 2022-04-17T01:33:54Z

This game was incredible! I played it for much longer than I thought I would and truely had a lot of fun with it the whole time. Many Ludum Dare games I really find fun, but would not want to play for longer than a few minutes. This game I feel like I could play for hours XD

The mechanis are very clever. It is kind of like minesweeper, but without the 100% certainty. Sometimes you just have to take the right risks to get information that can help you further. The game nicely helps you to do this with its shell system, meaning that if you happen to hit a jelly it is not the end of the world. I think it was balanced really well, such that hitting a jelly hurts, but is not completely devestating. I also loved the art. I have a soft spot for pixel art, and this is exactly the kind that I like. On top of that the audio is great, with rising tension as the water rises. That you were able to all of this at such a high level in a compo game is truely awe inspiring I think :D

I have two really small points of feedback. One is that I did not realise at first that I could place more flags than there were jellies. Given that this plays very much like minesweeper I assumed this mechanic would be the same as in minesweeper. I know the number of flags is on the screen and I figured it out after some runs, but just something I noticed :) Secondly is the rules around the shells. I think the entire game had a very strict set of rules, with the number of shells in each row given and the well-defined meaning of seaweed. However it was unclear to me at first what it meant for there to be a shell somewhere. I assumed that a shell also meant that there would be no neighbouring jellies, but this quickly turned out to be false.

I think this game is amazing and by far the best game of the jam I have seen. Maybe this is also because these kind of puzzle/strategy games are right up my alley ^_^ If you decide to release it as a full game sometime I would probably buy it :D Really amazing job!

Bastet's Quest by onnofal 2022-04-06T01:29:44Z

This was very short, but actually really fun :) I thought it was really neat how you sometimes flipped the progress bar to confuse the player. It definitely worked XD

It feels that you wanted to a lot more with this game, but what you have now already works really well and looks beautiful! Really great job on the art :D

FUSE by Ossi 2022-04-08T01:27:24Z

This was a really solid simple little game. I tried both modes and hard mode really was hard, haha! I think the gameplay was very intuitive and easy to understand, and the rules of the game clear. It was also fun to juggle between the different candles, and the ice powerups as well.

The ice powerups were a bit strange thematically though. I would expect ice to be cold and therefore make the candles go out even faster. But apparently it freezes the flame in this game. Not really a problem, just funny :D

Very well done! I enjoyed playing it ^_^

Model-5C by William Corrin 2022-04-05T23:54:26Z

This was cool! I found 5 out of the 7 broken robots, and I really wonder where the other 2 could be. I feel like there were not too many hidden corners around. The game was pretty short, but I think that is fine! Especially for Ludum Dare, so that everyone can play through the whole thing. The sound and music were really impressive! They were really well made, and fitted the game very well I think :)

The visuals were really nice as well, but it was hard for me to see things. I think this was due to the repeating pattern on the floor and the dark atmosphere. A few times I just drove straight over one of the broken robots and only noticed it because of the green exclamation mark that popped up. Maybe this is what you were going for, but just to let you know :D

Great job with this! I enjoyed it!

Pyre by Foursay 2022-04-06T23:26:41Z

This was amazing! I really got immersed in this little world and the sad story you were building with this game. The simplistic art, the beautiful music, the sound effects, and the story all fitted together really well to create this amazing atmosphere. The gameplay itself was not much, but it matched very well with the atmosphere and the 'boringness' of it was completely unnoticable because of the interesting story that was going on at the same time. I am really impressed that you managed to make all this in only three days!

I really don't have any feedback to give. Maybe the one thing is those white flashes in the fire felt a bit weird to me. I feel like they were a little sudden and broke the immersion slightly.

Really amazing job! I am happy I played this one :D

Seed Of Time by theStoff 2022-04-07T00:50:50Z

This looked like a game I would buy. So pretty! The colorpalette was beautiful (was it slso8 by any chance?), and I would love to be able to make pixel art like that one day :O The music fitted really well as well, although it became a little repetitive after a while (nothing major though!)

The main problem I had was with the gameplay. The machanics themselves worked really well, and the pace of the game was great too. It is just that those enemies that aim a bullet at you shot way too quickly for my liking. Often I was hit before I even noticed one was there. Also those guys that shoot bullets in a ring are basically unavoidable. There were a few levels where you had to run past one, but there were not enough objects for cover, so I was just guaranteed to take damage. This did not feel great, but maybe I missed something?

The mechanics themselves worked very smoothly and played so nicely that I pushed through the frustrating parts and finished the game! Overall I think the game was amazing and truely impressive. I did not really understand the story, but that just adds to the mystery :) Thanks a lot for making this! This was fun to play :D

Crows by lesinvisible 2022-04-17T00:21:28Z

The atmosphere was very well crafted in this game. The art, the mysterious sounds, and the mysterious story all work together to create this very creepy and uncomfortable feeling. Really well done! I think the main problem with the game is clarity. It was not very clear to me what things were buttons, and what things were not. For example, the picture of the darkened ruler has exactly the same border as the agents you can control. So for me it felt like I should be able to press on him as well, but I could not.

I had a very similar first experience as @trexxak, where I would just click wait because I did not really know what to do. I think it would help a lot if there was some communication to the player what they can click on.

Anyway, really well done! Crafting a game with an atmosphere like this is really hard and I think you did it really well! Solid submission to the jam :D

Word Wizard by Slecornu 2022-04-17T00:08:16Z

I got to 1164 :D This was a lot of fun! Especially when it gets difficult near the end. It is really stressfull, but very fun. You really did a great job with the gamefeel, with the flashy combo meter and nice sound effects when you type. It feels really satisfying when you manage to nail a few words in quick succession, and the game rewards that to make it feel even better. The amount of polish was also great, although the game was a bit stuttery for me at the beginning (not during the gameplay luckily, which is the important part).

Great submission! Very well done! This was really a joy to play :D

Singularity by Glaikunt 2022-04-11T01:01:10Z

This was really weird, but surprisingly fun! It took me a bit to figure out how to catch the rabbit, but the hint that appeared on the screen at some point really helped :P After that it was just chasing the rabbit into one-long tunnels at the edges and catching them that way (maybe I missed something?). It seems very boring, but it was actually a lot of fun! I think this was due to the weird background noises urging me to stop playing, and the text that kept popping up. The text telling me to stop playing at the beginning actually started to make me think that the game was impossible to beat, and that I really should stop playing. Luckily I tried a bit more :)

All-in-all I feel very weirded out, but in a good way :P Thanks a lot for making this! This was an amazing submission, very unique and polished. I had a lot of fun ^_^

Slime Rise by haztro 2022-04-06T01:01:45Z

I really liked this game for its atmosphere alone! I loved the art which immediately pulled me in to this weird world. Then with the sinister background music I was completely sold :D

The gameplay was a bit unclear for me at first. I tried building houses or scaffolding on the ground level, but it would not let me. After experimenting a bit I found out I had to press one layer above the ground level, but by that time the slime had already caught up to me. This was all fine the second playthrough, but the introduction could have been smoother. A small idea for this is to have the slime start rising once the player puts down their first thing, so that they have a bit of time to try things out. Please ignore this if you dont like it though :)

Otherwise the gameplay was very well polished, with nice sound effects and screenshakes whenever you build something. Tactics wise I was not sure why I should not just build straight up with scaffolding until I almost ran out, and then put a house at the top?

Anyway, amazingly well done! Really impressive for only 48 hours! :D

Heat by Wuppos 2022-04-05T03:48:36Z

@aderpychickenstudios @mixon00 Thanks a lot for playing! I am happy you guys liked it :)

@william-corrin I am happy you liked it :D Also thanks a lot for taking the time to write some serious feedback. These kinds of comments are what I look forward to most in Ludum Dare! I agree that the theme is maybe a bit too obvious in my game. The idea was to have some kind of disaster that is inevitable, and that you have to delay it to save people. In the end it kind of just became 'delay people from dying', but oh well :P It makes sense you lose interest after a few runs. I might indeed think of extra stuff to do to keep it interesting.

@rottenthunder997 Thanks a lot for playing! Ah, I hear your feedback. It is not something I had trouble with myself, but maybe for different systems it is harder to pick up people. Thanks for the feedback!

@cerno-b Also you thank you so much for writing some serious feedback. I really appreciate it :D Good to hear that in your case you did not have (too much) trouble picking up people. I agree completely about the sound effects and I planned to do them, but I simply ran out of time >_< I have never heard of chiptone before, but it looks cool! Thanks a lot for the tip! I usually use bfxr and sfxr myself and never really looked for alternatives. I am happy you liked my game :D

Heat by Wuppos 2022-04-06T00:48:26Z

@haztro Thank you very much for your kind feedback! I appreciated it :) Highlighting people when hovering them is a great idea! Why did I not think of that? I also felt that the moving of people needed more feedback to the player, and I think this is a great way to do that. Thanks for the idea :D

@roblaro Thanks a lot for playing! I am happy you liked it!

@jonah-srg Haha, the original plan was to have the fires do more than just passively kill people, but you know, limited time and all >_< You have a keen eye! The people could indeed walk out of the building themselves if they were so inclined :P It happened during playtesting and I decided that it would not do any harm to keep it in. They cannot walk back in though :) Thanks a lot for your kind words and I am happy you liked it!

Heat by Wuppos 2022-04-06T01:32:58Z

@nick-rafalski Haha, yeah the people are not very clever at the moment. They cannot see the massive open door that leads to safety and they run straight into the fires XD I am happy you noticed the difficulty! It is indeed scaled such that after a big wave you (hopefully) get a little bit of relative quiet. Thanks a lot for playing and for your kind feedback!

Heat by Wuppos 2022-04-06T23:11:19Z

@foursay I agree that fire spawning was a bit bare-bones. If I had more time I would have added a few extra limitations, such that they cannot spawn too close to a person. I am happy you like it :D

@onnofal Thanks a lot for playing and for your nice summary :) I agree that the lack of sound is a real shame. I need to put that on a higher priority next game jam. Good to hear you liked it!

@ani I can understand that spotting people near fires is a problem, that is great feedback. Thanks a lot! I am happy you enjoyed it :)

Heat by Wuppos 2022-04-07T23:43:21Z

@the-great-gallus Thank you very much for this amazing feedback! I truely appreciate it :D The issue with chrome is interesting, thanks for letting me know. That might indeed explain why different people have different experiences with the game. I am using firefox myself, so I never noticed that issue. I am happy you liked it! I will keep your experiences in mind :)

@jvolonte Thank you for playing! Happy you enjoyed :D

@neithernathan I think you are right. A little bit of a slower climb in difficulty might have been good. I was kind of scared that it might stay too easy for too long and become boring, but it seems I did not need to worry about that so much XD

@daniel-username Happy you liked it!

@riley9 60 is a very respectable score :) Thank you for your feedback and for playing!

@ossi Thank you for playing! Yeah, the balancing between two things was my idea of a small twist to simply dragging people out as fast as possible. I am happy you liked it! For me I usually focus on putting out flames first, before I save people. I am happy you enjoyed it!

Heat by Wuppos 2022-04-10T22:04:08Z

@sophie-s Haha, maybe you are right :P But they can no longer die though, so there is that!

@glaikunt I agree a scoreboard would be cool, but I never made anything like that before. I feel like I could have wasted a lot of time on that if I tried, haha

@peachtreeoath 75 is a really good score! I honestly did make it to a hundred, but was very lucky with the waves I think, haha. I am happy you found it unique! I never thought of it as really unique myself :) Thank you very much for your in-depth review! I really appreciate that :D And of course thanks for playing!

@sleepystudios I always make sure to put at least a bit of time into the tutorial. I think a game should be playable just by itself, without any introduction beforehand, so then a tutorial becomes kind of necessary. Thank you for playing and I am happy you enjoyed it! :D

@tanis Powerups would indeed be nice to keep the game interesting for a bit longer! I am not sure if I feel like putting more energy into this game, but if I do I will definitely keep it in mind! Thanks a lot for playing!

BOX IN OX by Jonah_SRG 2022-04-06T01:23:24Z

This was great! The rules text is a bit overwhelming, but once you start playing and look back at the rules a couple of times it is actually not that bad. It was a lot of fun! Kind of tetris, combined with bejeweled, combined with some ox that is breaking stuff. I thought it was very clever that you added the mechanic of two neighbouring pots of the same type disappearing. This really added a whole other level of tactics to the game. At some point one of my pots was in danger of being broken by the ox, but I was able to save it by matching it with another of the same pot. I felt really clever :D

The only real feedback I have is on the initial struggle to get started. If there was an in-game tutorial this would have been a lot more smooth I think. Of course, it is already very impressive that you made all this in 48 hours, and can completely understand you did not have the time to make a tutorial as well :P

Thanks a lot for making this game! It was a lot of fun and very unique!

Can You Out Run It? by ADerpyChickenStudios 2022-04-05T04:00:16Z

This was really nice! The pixel art was cute, and the difficulty was on-point. The first few tries I did terribly, but I quickly learned, and in the end I was able to get to the end! (On normal made that it is. I have not yet dared to try hard mode >_<) You were talking about procedural generation in an earlier comment, but I acutally kind of like the way it is now. Learning the map and finding the optimal route was part of the fun for me :)

A few times I died at the very beginning because I was not yet ready, and the lava killed me straight away. Perhaps it would be an idea to start the lava climb once the player pressed a button? I think that would feel more fair.

At first it was not clear to me that landing also refilled my fuel (because realistically that did not make intuitive sense), but once I figured this out the game really became a lot more fun! For some reason I also did not notice the fuelbar immediately. Maybe because of the colorscheme? (Might just be me of course)

As a final point of feedback, I thought the sound effects were great, but the music became a bit repetitive after a while. Although I understand that music is really hard, so I am actually more impressed that you managed to make some (something I for sure failed at...)

Anyway, great submission and thanks a lot for making this! It was fun :D

DataWorker by sophie.s 2022-04-11T00:44:28Z

I liked the idea a lot! Trying to build a tetris tower on top of yourself that you have to dispose of. It gives a nice choice to the player whether they want to risk to stay to build the tower higher, or just go and drop everything. Some kind of combo-score of you deliver multiple blocks in a short time period might be cool in this spirit, to encourage the player to make the tower as tall as possible. (Just an idea)

I found the game very hard to play. Mainly because the blocks did not always react how I would expect them to. For example, a normal square block was lying on the plate, and then I ran full speed to the right. I expected the little lid to keep the block in place, but instead it flew over and lost me points. Also those cross-shaped pieces are very hard to use, haha (although this is actually a very interesting kind of hard).

But I really liked the creativity of this game. Really well done, especially if this is your first game! I hope you will continue making more games :D

I Sink Not by eeldam 2022-04-08T01:00:54Z

I got to a distance of 20706m! I did it with a very small boat, with only one engine, a balloon, a propellor and a few fins. Not the most interesting run, but definitely got me very far :P

This game was really amazing. The really cute and pretty art, together with beautiful music and a very smooth gameplay made for a very relaxing and fun game. Everything felt super polished, and there was nothing to break the immersion. I really felt like some kind of crazy adventurerer that was making his own boat as he sailed. The only minor complaint I was that it sometimes was a bit difficult to see whether a part was broken or not, especially the bases. The hammer appeared on it after a while, which helped. This is truely a very nitpicky point though.

Really amazingly done! I had a lot of fun with this!

Drowsy Drop by barce 2022-04-08T00:12:49Z

I liked the idea of this game a lot, although I did not really understand the connection with the theme. What are we delaying? But honestly I don't have a big problem with that :)

The art was great and really went from nice and comfortable to weird and creepy. I think the change of colors was also great and really communicated the feelings of the main character. I liked the idea of the gameplay as well and thought it was really smart that you put those random obstacles everywhere. I tried just going column by column to survive the maximum amount of time, but those obstacles quuickly put an end to that :D

My main problem with the game (others have mentioned it as well) is the slidey movement and the very slow reaction to my input. When I am walking right and suddenly press left the character can easily slide off the platform even though I pressed left. This together with the fact that it is not really clear exactly how far I could walk before I would fall off annoyed me a bit sometimes. For the dash I had a similar problem where it was difficult to judge the distance it would go for some reason. I would often just dash into a hole by accident. Another small problem is that sometimes I died at very start of a new level because I ran straight into an obstacle before I even really had time to get my bearings. Maybe it is just because I am bad at the game though, so do with that information whatever you want :D

Of course all of my criticism is very personal and strongly depends on my personal preference of games. If the game works as you intended and is what you were going for then that is of course the best :) Very solid submission to the jam!

RUNOUT by RobLaro 2022-04-06T01:11:58Z

This was a very interesting and new game! How did you come up with this? It is really cool how you craft the level yourself as you go along. At some point there were so many mistakes at the very beginning that I just decided to make a new track in another direction. Really cool!

It took some time for me to understand what the game was about. I started to just walk in a random direction and suddenly died without really knowing why, but thinking that I failed somehow. Of course, I did not fail and just paved the wat for next runs to get farther. Some kind of tutorial for this would have been nice :) (Maybe on the itch page?) Although I can also understand it if you want it to be up to the player to figure out what to do :)

I had a lot of fun with this! Great submission!

By The Fire by Ani 2022-04-06T23:39:34Z

I liked this a lot! I loved the models and they really inspire me to try to make a 3d game sometime as well. The low-poly style is something I would love to be able to do :) The little bug and the trees are so cute! :D

The gameplay was very intuitive and surprisingly fun! I liked the idea of the rocks being in the way, but in the end they were not much of a problem for me I must say. Often I could just walk around them, and by the time many of them had gathered I had already almost lost anyway :) I don't think this is a real problem though, just an observation. On the mechanics side I feel like throwing a stack of logs had the same effect as throwing just a single log into the fire? Maybe this is just my imagination? I kind of expected the healthbar to shoot up once I threw in a big stack of logs, but this did not really happen

The music was a little repetitive, but not very annoying, so I think it is fine. It is definitely better than any music I ever made, so just the fact that there is music impresses me XD

Amazing job with this! I saw this was your first game jam, so that makes it even more impressive! Also, welcome to the hobby :) I started about a year and a half ago (after thinking about doing one for way too long) and I must say it was the best decision ever! They are just so much fun! I hope you will have the same amount of fun as I have had :D

transaction failed by riley9 2022-04-08T01:20:09Z

This was great and very different from all the other games I played from the jam. The story was very confusing (which was good), but in the end I did feel like I got the message (or a message at least). the game felt like playing through someones dream, where they were dreaming about their life and about the things they hate about it :)

I think it went a little bit long for the kind of game it is. I was really interested in seeing all the little interactions I could find, but after some time it became a bit much of similar things. Once I came near the ending, with the horse in the room etc, the story really changed however, and it became a lot more interesting again. The music was a perfect fit, because it felt a bit creepy as well. Really well done with that!

Overall I loved the experience! Great job :D

LD51 — Every 10 seconds

Attuned by Erkberg 2022-10-17T10:30:20Z

This was super hard for me XD The first few levels, when there was just a single row of sounds, were very doable, but already when the second row appeared I struggled a lot. I guess when there are multiple notes playing simultaneously I struggle to hear how each individual note sounds. Often I could hear that one of the two was messed up, but I really needed the 'untuned amount' counter to find the right one. When the third line came in I was completely lost and I just turned on colour feedback :P

At the beginning I was a bit confused about how the game flowed, and I am still not entirely sure. Is there first a phase where none of the notes are untuned and you just listen, and then a phase after that where you should tune? Maybe a bit more feedback when the different phases start and end would be nice. Although I understand you did not have much time to make this game :)

As always your music is beautiful and very calming! I would already be looking forward to recollection if it was just the music :) Amazing job!

Exorcist Patrol by PeachTreeOath 2022-10-17T10:05:14Z

Really awesome! This was a very unique game concept. I really liked the idea of placing things in the timeline and trying to puzzle your way to the solution. Even more cool was that the whole game was kind of a series of emerging puzzles. You choose the spells yourself, which meant that you also create your own problems :P Trying to figure out how I could optimally use two spells that were completely different by combining them in different ways was a lot of fun! As always the art was beautiful and the music on point :)

A little bit of feedback is that the third and fourth level went by super quick for me because I just defeated the ghost using the timeline from the previous ghost. This is not really a problem, but the ghost were defeated so fast that I could not even try the new spells I chose just before. Another thing which confused me in the beginning was what the difference was between the red and white timelines was. Eventually I figured it out though :)

The last ghost was quite a challenge, and I just barely defeated it with the spells I had. I really appreciate the challenge for the last boss, but I wonder if that boss could be impossible if you chose your spells pourly? Or perhaps you did some trickery where the health is adjusted based on the spells you have? I am curious if there is any safety mechanism there.

Anyway, amazingly done as always! I really enjoyed this one ^_^

Neural Dodge by Foursay 2022-10-17T09:45:56Z

This was really amazing! The rules were very simple, but the game was super intense. As the game went on it just became more-and-more intense because the post processing became stronger, faster enemies started showing up, and did the music also become more intense? The gameplay matched the intensity, because missing a note could be detrimental sometimes. At some point I was being chased by another red cube, and missing a note would have caused me to lose. You did a really great job creating such an atmosphere with really simple sprites! Incredibly done! ^_^

In the end I managed to get to a score of 97 :D Super enjoyable to play! Great job!

Jelly Jar by Asieke 2022-10-17T10:15:22Z

I found this game quite hard to play. The jellies move in a random direction and you have to be next to them in order to catch them, this means there is always a chance you just lose the game if a jelly decides to jump on the same tile as you. I don't mind a bit of risk taking in games, but here it felt a bit much. Perhaps it would be cool if you could somehow sneak up on a jelly? Or maybe the player could get a bit more information on how the jelly might move? Just some ideas :)

Other than that I think it was a very interesting game idea! The imp was definitely scary and tricky. The art was also super beautiful! I love pixel art like this ^_^ Some sound or music would have been nice, but I am sure you know this already :P The treadmill mechanic was a great touch because you could control the pace of the game yourself. If you are a bit overwhelmed you can turn it off, and when you are ready for more action you can turn it on. This worked really well!

Overall very well done! :D

Clocks by Wuppos 2022-10-17T09:09:15Z

@gotanod @ani @foursay @peachtreeoath @asieke Thank you all for playing my game! I did not have much time the last few weeks to respond and play your games in return, but I have some time to do so today :)

All your feedback is greatly appreciated! I feel this was not one of my best games, so I am happy with all the feedback I can get :D

Faster Food by Ani 2022-10-17T09:28:31Z

This was a great idea for the theme! Super chaotic fun XD I found it really hard in the beginning to finish any order at all, because the ingredients kept flying all over the place when I picked them up. After some time I figured out that just flinging them to the middle works way better than actually picking them up and moving them there. I managed to beat the game in the end :D

The only thing that was a bit unclear to me was when an order passed or failed. Sometimes I had a (in my eyes) correct order, which the game thought was wrong. Perhaps there were some extra ingredients in the order that I did not spot (like some extra sauce)?

Amazingly done! This was a lot of fun! :D

YAMG Memory by Gotanod 2022-10-17T09:18:40Z

This was unexpectedly fun! I am usually really bad at these memory games, but here you only had to remember where the cards were for 10 seconds. After that I could wipe my memory and relearn the position of the cards :)

The various art styles of the cards were very different, such that I was never confused when they changed. The only minor thing I found was that the cards with the constellations (the dark blue ones) were hard to distinguish from one another.

Another thing I liked was that the cards did not change position every 10 seconds. It often happened to me that I thought of a combination just before the cards changed. Because the cards were still in the same spot I could still get that combination.

All in all a very interesting twist on a classic game. Really well done! :D

LD52 — Harvest

Fading Souls by Erkberg 2023-01-09T21:20:52Z

I got to 33 souls saved and 27 souls devoured :D

As usual for you, the game was extremely atmospheric! I loved the setting of a dark scary forest, with lit up spirits. Gameplay wise it also meant that it was very clear where to go next, and that I did not spend a lot of time just roaming around. The music and sound effects fit super well, and really sold the atmosphere for me. The sensitivity slider was also a great help, because usually 3D games have way too high sensitivity for me (this one did as well on the 1.0 setting :P)

The gameplay got a little repetitive after I kept playing though. In the beginning the red spirits were very scary and I was on my toes all the time. However, after playing for a bit they lost their scariness a bit, as I could simply run away from them. Similar to Frogman I also could have continued playing after my 33:27 if I wanted to. Perhaps this could have been resolved by making the game have a finite duration? I.e., just save a finite amount of souls and then win? Or of course having a more rapid difficulty scaling, but that might require more work I guess :)

Anyway, great submission to the jam! Especially considering the short time you spent on it. I enjoyed it a lot :D

A Day in the Life of Death by DDRKirbyISQ 2023-01-11T21:33:19Z

I loved this so much! I really did not expect a rhythm game with this theme, but you really made it work extremely well. I loved your previous Ludum Dare games as well, and this one did not dissapoint either. The art was super pretty and the music amazing. The best of all was the story though. It was super unexpected and I was really laughing out loud at the reveal. Stellar job! And extremely impressive for a game made in 72 hours :D

Hobby Gardener by Yngvarr 2023-01-11T21:06:17Z

I tried to keep my garden nice and tidey, but those boommelons en cactumbers kept spreading all over the place XD I must say I did not fully understand when plants would spread or do things. For example, the boommelon sometimes exploded as I pressed to harvest it. Nontheless, it was fun just to play around and see what would be the best spot to place plants was. In the end I had quite a nice forest of bamboo :D Very nice submission :D

Monkey Oolong Harvest Bop by PeachTreeOath 2023-01-10T21:52:34Z

This was so amazing! Everything felt good about this game: the art, music, gameplay and theme all fitted extremely well with each other. It was also a lot of fun to play, with a nice mix of strategy (where to place the monkeys on the tree) and skill (actually getting the monkeys where you want them). I mainly struggled with the latter :P I came here because I played your game 'study lady' from a previous ludum dare, but this game feels even better than that one in my opinion. Incredible job :D

Apples of Agony by Joey Shipley 2023-01-09T20:54:14Z

The gameplay was not new, but the setting of the game definitely was. I ended up with a score of 5475 :) For a long time it seemed there was not much reason to hurt the tree by picking the fruit before it fell, as it would just make the quality of the fruit worse. However, near the end, when the timer showed up, it became very tempting to just get the fruit from the tree, as the quality of future fruits would not matter anyway (even though it would hurt your friend). A very interesting bit of human psychology going on there :)

As a tiny bit of feedback (besides obviously adding sound and music) was that the hitbox of the fruits felt a bit small. Often I thought I clicked a fruit, but it did not register. Perhaps just me though :)

Very interesting submission for the jam! Thanks a lot, I had fun playing your game!

Apples of Agony by Joey Shipley 2023-01-09T21:36:08Z

@joey-shipley Usually what I go for is just checking if the mouse position was within the collider of a gameobject when the mouse button was pressed, without using raycasts at all. In 2D this is rather easy to do. (If I remember correctly 2D colliders have a property where they can check if a position is within the bounds of the collider or not.)

Fox Puppies Want Food For The Winter by Lerg 2023-01-10T21:43:08Z

I really liked how this game felt and looked! The fake 3D look was very well done, and you made very nice use of the stretch and squash :D The gameplay was rather relaxing, which I think matched nicely with both the art and calming music. It all felt very coherent :)

As for the gameplay I felt it would have been more exciting if the pumpking monsters were a bit more scary mechanics wise (they were definitely scary enough looks wise!) I usually could walk right by them to pick up the food, which made them lose their threat a bit. Also, when I picked up a pumpkin it felt like I should have gotten more points, as it is was way bigger than for example an eggplant, but that might just be me :P

Very solid submission! Thanks a lot for making it :D

Wheat World by Belonzik 2023-01-10T22:29:17Z

I love me a good platformer and this was a really great one! I must confes that I was completely stumped at first, as I thought the first level was impossible. I really did not manage to make that jump. That was before I figures out that cutting wheat gives you a jump. Then everything suddenly made sense and I had a great time :D I missed the coyote time and I felt the hitboxes of the spikes were a bit big, but that could all not take away from the fun and extremely addicting gameplay. I loved that you mixed up the traditional platformer mechanics with something new. The gamefeel was also great, with the small squash and stretch, and the quick respawn times.

Great submission! I absolutely loved it :)

Travelling Tea Maker by detectiveLosos 2023-01-10T22:07:01Z

I loved this a lot! I always used to love those make-your-own adventure books and even tried to write some myself in the past. I had never heard of ink before, but now I want to use it for something as well. I also saw it has Unity integration, which is even more awesome :D

The story was very sweet and I loved the idea of a travelling tea shop! Learning what combinations of ingredients work and which not, to then be able to brew the right tea at the right time was a lot of fun. I never did find that ginger though, I wonder where that could be :) Luckily my life ended very happily in the end.

This was a very different kind of game than most in Ludum Dare, but I enjoyed it a lot. Thanks a lot for this short experience :D

Shoo! by Lex 2023-01-10T21:01:03Z

This was a lot of fun! Maybe the start of every level was a bit slow, but when it started it was real chaotic. Especially that last level was rdiciulous XD I beat it in the end though :D I really liked the pixelated 3D look that your game had. How did you make that? Was it simply 3D objects rendered on a very coarse texture? Or some shader? I would love to know :)

What I really liked is that you had to make value judgements all the time. Should I go for that rat/bird, or would it be better to go for those over there? Can I make it? Stuff like that :D Perhaps what I was missing is some indication of crops being eaten that were not on my screen. Especially on the last level I feel I lost a few plants even though I had no idea they were being eaten.

The 'shoo' sound effect with changing pitch was simple, but extremely effective. I really liked this submission. Well done! :D

The Hunt for the Legendary Lobster by Ry-for 2023-01-11T20:44:41Z

This was a very simple, but super fun little game. It was just so very well executed! I loved how each of the fish had their own little pattern, which I could learn and use to get better at the game. In the end I got rank 6 on the leader board with 16 points :D The fact that the water became darker as you went further down also gave a very nice sense of progression, and it definitely became a lot harder (I am looking at you, big red fish!). I really loved the music you chose as well. The only problem I had with it was that the music was just getting to the good part when I died, after which the track started all over again. If it continued playing I would have been completely happy :D Very nicely done! I loved it :)

Petra Rabbit's Carrot Chase by TheseusInABottle 2023-01-10T20:40:19Z

Before starting the game I read a comment saying they liked the background music, so I was all hyped up for some great tunes. What I got was not what I expected, but it did not dissapoint XD

The mechanics were simple, but I liked what you did with them! Having to time when to go to avoid the foxes, or to try and think a bit about the best path to take was fun. I agree with an earlier comment that three lives might have been a bit generous, as some levels could be completed by just walking straight through the foxes.

Really nice entry! The audio gave a me a good laugh :D

Save the harvest by Gonzo13 2023-01-09T20:44:39Z

This was some very interesting gameplay that I have not seen before :) I think I was not very good at the game though, because at every level it said 'try again next time' :( Except for the last level, but I guess that one does not count, haha

The mechanics were very clever. It was basically an exercise in quick thinking, as you had to make a decision fast before all the crops burnt away. That is something I really liked, because usually in puzzle games you have the time to think on the optimal solution. Here you definitely had not XD I definitely had a few levels were I was in analysis paralysis, which caused basically all of my crops to burn away. Sometimes I also misclicked, which is quite devistating as the tractor moves really slowly compared to the flames. Completely my mistake though :P

As you probably know, some sound and music would have done wonders. The art was very nice however! I especially liked the topdown tractor, which looked really good. The quick tutorial at the beginning was also very effective. Amazingly creative submission to the jam. Thanks a lot!

Samhain by daitli 2023-01-12T20:44:35Z

This was very refreshing, different kind of game than most in this jam! Very creative implementation of the theme! I loved the moodyness that the art and music created. The gameplay was also a lot of fun, although I think I was not very good at it XD Sometimes also ghosts escaped even though I did not notice it at all (I would look up at the counter and notice that suddenly it said 1/5 instead of 0/5). Perhaps a bit more communication when a ghost is almost escaping would help? Perhaps that becomes overwhelming when there are too many ghosts at the end, I dont know :)

Anyway, very nice submission! I had a lot of fun with this :D

Settlement by Corporation 2023-01-12T21:18:49Z

This was a lot of fun! I have not played that much Catan before and I forgot that some numbers were better than others, so the first run I just but my ranch a bit randomly on numbers that did not come up very often :/ I got a terrible score of 20 something, while it said that anything above 100 was good XD I decided to play a second time, keeping those numbers in mind, and this time I had a score of 121. A lot more passable I would say :D

Figuring out what was the best place to put your ranches, and deciding whether or not to sell/buy something were the most interesting decision I had to make in this game. Often these had pretty big consequences as well, which I liked a lot. Randomly rolling the dice was also exciting, but sometimes a bit frustrating. Especially when my inventory was full and I was just randomly rolling for a merchant to sell all my stuff, while there was nothing I could do about all the stuff I was losing out on. On the other hand, I guess this plays a bit into the risk/reward decisions you have to make when placing your ranch, so it is not all bad.

I really liked your take on the theme and I think it was very well executed. I had a lot of fun with this one! Thanks a lot for making it :D

Wheat Master by nyxkn 2023-01-09T22:07:45Z

This was amazing! It kind of felt like the change from farming by hand to farming with the help of machines that happened in real life. Near the end I could hardly keep up with my automation :) The art was really cute and beautiful, which was made even better by the super relaxing music. I also liked that every upgrade was really noticable, making it very exciting each time I was able to get one. I really enjoyed this one! Amazing submission! :D

Season of Harvest by Wuppos 2023-01-09T20:58:00Z

@ab0303 Thanks for playing and for your feedback! I was already afraid that the gameplay was not very clear and it seems that was true. What were you most confused about if I may ask?

Season of Harvest by Wuppos 2023-01-09T21:49:29Z

@ab0303 I see! I dont think it is your fault at all. Many people will skim over the text :P It just means that I should clear up the gameplay if I decide to work on this further. Thanks a lot for your feedback and for responding! :D

Season of Harvest by Wuppos 2023-01-10T11:37:35Z

@theseusinabottle Thanks for the feedback! I agree about the sound effects. They were a bit of a last minute addition :P

@ani Hmm, the harvesters should not move twice. I will look into that. Thanks!

@lex Thank you very much for playing and for your nice feedback! I fully agree that pushing around farmers would have been fun. The idea was to go for a little bit of 'into the breach'-like gameplay, and that would have definitely helped

@iminsoftware Thanks a lot for your kind words :D And that text is not supposed to show up XD Thanks for letting me know

Season of Harvest by Wuppos 2023-01-11T21:39:12Z

@profundity Thank you very much for your detailed feedback! I appreciate it a lot :D I myself also have not yet figured out the best strategy yet, so I cannot help much with that unfortunately :PBut I agree that better explaning how the mechanics work would have been good. If I decide to continue working on it I will definitely keep it in mind. I also agree about the high pitch noise. Its especially bad on the HTML version for some reason, but I did not have time adjust it anymore (as usual). Thanks again for playing!

Season of Harvest by Wuppos 2023-01-12T20:53:11Z

@peachtreeoath Wow, thank you so much for playing my game to such lengths! That made me very happy :D I am happy you enjoyed it. 24 is a super impressive score! I myself only got up to 16 or so. I will try your strategy in a bit for myself :P Its very clever to use the corn as a distraction for the farmers! I guess you can use it to keep kiting them around, because you can move the corn every turn. I hadnt thought of that yet :)

One of my strats which worked reasonably well (but required a pretty specific spawn) was to get a sunflower in a corner, with two scarecrows surrounding it. This meant the sunflower was completely safe while it grew. The following problem was keeping the sunflower alive after you have to move it once, which sometimes worked and sometimes did not :/

Thanks again for you kind words :D I enjoyed the game myself and would love to extend it a bit, so it is good to hear you enjoyed it :)

Your Harvest Story by Andreia 2023-01-11T20:53:57Z

This was surprisingly fun! It was a very relaxing experience and I found myself creating a little story of my farm in my head. I was super lucky the first year, with every season being really good. On my second year the plague hit unfortunately, so that was not as great :/ I think what made this game work even though it had simple gameplay was the very soothing art and music, and the work you put into making all the animations and screen transitions feel very smooth. The game had a very polished feel because of it. I also really loved the minimalistic symbols for each of the seasons :) I agree with others that a bit more player agency would have been nice, but I just hope it wont lose its feel if you decide to add something like that. Very nicely done! I am happy to have played this one :D

Reap and Sow by rickylee 2023-01-10T21:30:51Z

I had a bit of a misunderstanding about the mechanics in my first run through, even though you had this very nice tutorial area where I could just play around. For some reason I used only right click to grow the crops, without every picking any up. This is probably just my fault though XD The second playthrough I got it and was able to reach the end without trouble with 900 lbs of food :D I agree with others that the fence gates did not feel like you could walk through them, but that was easily figured out after a bit of experimenting.

The gameplay was great and a lot of fun! Having to judge whether to stay a bit longer in a crop field to get points or whether to just run was an interesting struggle each time. The chests with upgrades were also nice to chance things up a little bit. The art was really lovely and the gamefeel amazingly juicy ^^ Great job!

Carrot Jack by RobLaro 2023-01-10T22:43:57Z

This was very stressfull, but a lot of fun! A lot of times the god carrot was already shaking because of its size, only for me to make a mistake and it shrinking all the way back down again XD The shovels and sickles were somehow similar in my mind, so in stressfull situations (like when the carrot almost explodes) I always mixed them up. This was a lot of fun though, haha The shrinking back of the carrot really gave me the feeling I had to make decisions quickly, which I think led to the stress. That was great though! Really nice submission :D

Plot Luck by Ani 2023-01-09T21:31:55Z

Amazing little game and super creative :) The balance between the amount of randomness and the amount of control felt just right! Enough randomness to not feel like I was in complete control, but enough control to not be completely frustrated by the RNG. The art is also super cute and the music fits that completely. The only thing I noticed is that when I got the hang of it I feel I could have played it indefinitely. Generally my money income was greater than the cost of spinning.

This was a really great cute and enjoyable entry! Thanks a lot for making it :D

Harvest Soon by ImInSoftware 2023-01-10T21:17:50Z

I liked this a lot! It was a very calming and relaxing experience to just grow my crops while scouting the wilds for more seeds to grow. The soothing music and cute artwork also all contributed to that feeling :D I think the gameplay loop was very solid, but I would have loved a more formal ending I guess. Or perhaps a faster difficulty scaling? I understand that is too much to ask for a Compo game though :P

I really liked this! Thanks a lot for making it :D

Crop Season by chaikadev 2023-01-11T21:56:17Z

This was a super cute game! I loved it :D I agree with others that the flinging was a bit sensitive, and that it was a bit too easy to throw the vegetables way over peoples heads. That said, I really loved the idea of flinging the vegetables and the little mini memory game that was going on. I am always really bad at memorizing things, so I appreciated that I could try a few times without immediately losing XD The art and music made the game feel super cute and lovely. Super nice submission! Very well done :D

Extreme Apple Picking by profundity 2023-01-11T21:48:05Z

I am not sure if this is the most effective way of harvesting apples, but it is definitely interesting XD Also those poor trees getting just flung of the map when you were done with them was very funny to me, haha The gameplay was pretty simple, but fun nontheless. I liked how you had to get a feel for the optimal timing of getting a new tree. I guess this also changed the further you got, as you had to get trees that were further away from the basket. At least, I did not find a way to move the basket, I hope this was correct? At first I just started shaking trees, but then realized I did not know how I was supposed to get the apples in the basket. In the end I just started shaking trees above the basket. Hopefully that was how you were supposed to play :) Anyway, using that method I got to 35 apples :D Very nice submission! Well done!

Tractor Tony's Pro Reaper by Fabian Denter 2023-01-11T20:32:58Z

I loved that you made just driving around alone a lot of fun! With sound effects, the acceleration and the fancy jumps you could do it was a lot of fun just going around and colecting stuff. I never figured out how I should push over cows though, as driving against them did not do anything The second level was a bit frustrating to me, as I kept falling of the map. I would have loved to just respawn, instead of playing the whole level over again, but perhaps that is just me. I also could not really remember the goals I had. Perhaps a little to-do list on screen or something like that would have been helpful :P

Reallr nice submission! I enjoyed it a lot :D

Monkey Business by Ab0303 2023-01-09T20:17:57Z

This was a super cool take on the theme :D I absolutely did not expect a game themed around this when I heard the theme, haha. The gameplay itself was simple, but very enjoyable. Probable because everything around it was really nice. I loved the music, confirming sound effects and really cute art :D I wonder what you used to make the music? I always struggle with music in my game, so I would love to hear how you made this :) I also really liked that you made it have an ending. I got the perfect blend in 43 hours. How did I do?

For a tiny bit of nitpicky feedback I have two things. One is that sometimes the hitbox of the items felt a bit small, requiring very precise clicking (although it felt nice to pick up two things at once :p). The other is that at one point I thought the coffee beans and the fruit looked very similar and I confused them sometimes. This was when I had the level 2 tree, but still the level 1 civet I believe.

But all of that is a bit nitpicky. This is the first game I reviewed for LD 52 and it was a great start! Thanks a lot for making it :D

Final Harvest by GreyNovemberGames 2023-01-12T20:35:57Z

I luckily survived the winter :D I dont think I can say much more than what has already been said in these comments. I loved the art (I always love it when pixel art is done well!) and the music was very atmospheric. The gameplay was simple, but because of the time pressure it became interesting. Perhaps communicating this pressure early on a little more would work even better, but I already really liked the wind and white dots that appeared near the end. Very moody and pretty game! Very nice submission :D

Crazy Harvest by joker15277 2023-01-15T17:26:08Z

This was still a bit barebones, but I think you did a lot right! The shooting felt heavy and impactfull, the deaths of enemies felt satisfying and you had simple but very effective animations. Movement speeds also felt just right (not too annoyingly slow or uncontrolably fast), and enemies spawned off screen making it feel very fair for the player. I guess things that might increase the appeal of this game would be, for example, some difficulty scaling (eg., more enemies spawn over time) or enemies that fire back? Just some suggestions :)

I read that this was your first jam, so in that case very well done! You made a game in a weekend :D

Down to Earth by Chum Chum 2023-01-09T20:32:19Z

I made it to 2025 points :D I really liked the gameplay loop of this game. Having to juggle two compeltely separate mechanics (shooting and planting) was interesting on its own, but on top of it they were heavily connected. Neglecting to do one meant that you would not have a good time doing the other. I really enjoyed how they interplayed, meaning that you have to keep two things in mind at all times. Some music would have been nice, but the sound effects were simple yet very effective. Really great job :D

As a bit of feedback, I really liked playing, but it became a bit repetitive after a while. As others have mentioned, a bit more content (like varying enemies or more plants) would make this game even better. Although that is more for if you want to extend the game. As a compo entry I think you already did a great job with what you have :) Another thing is that at some point I did not have any plant ammo left, and I was just shooting the monsters with zucchinis. This meant I had to slowly chew through the monsters with very low damage output to get a seed again. This felt a bit frustrating.

That said, I have to say again that I really enjoyed the game and its interesting gameplay! Really great submission and thanks a lot for making it :D

Nesting by HypernoodleJon 2023-01-09T21:46:57Z

I was looking for a nice platformer to play and this one jumped out to me. I am really glad I clicked on it! Although admittedly it was not very hard :) I liked how just falling made the bird go diagonally, as if it was gliding. This made for some interesting platforming challenges here and there. Collecting twigs and using those as health was also a very nice idea. A side effect of that was that would often not go for the riskier twigs, as I would just lose more health in the process. I also did not really understand why I would want collect those if I had enough anyway. In the last level I saw the big number of twigs I needed and whished I went for them anyway :P

The art is super cute and amazing. I really love it! The sound effects were simple, but very effective and gave that nice feedback to the player. Of course, music would have been amazing, but I guess this was already a lot of work as it is :)

I really enjoyed playing your submission! Thanks a lot for making it :D I am impressed you managed to make all this in pico8. I would like to try to make a pico8 game myself at some point, but I did not get to it yet.

LD53 — Delivery

The Deliverer by automatonvx 2023-05-12T18:58:53Z

I think this was a very solid implementation of the twin stick shooter genre. I liked how the gameplay changed quite a lot when you switch from the crowbar to the gun. For the one you need to be dangerously close to the zombies, whereas for the gun you want to try to stay away. This also matched the amount of health you had, which worked very nicely I think. At the beginning you have a lot of health, so it is okay to risk coming close with the crowbar, whereas later when you find the gun you have less health, therefore it is better to stay away and shoot from afar :)

Some levels I struggled because I could not find a gun, which meant I lost a lot of life to all the zombies being so upclose. I also think some more game feel could help, such as screenshakes or more satisfying shooting particles, stuff like that.

All in all really solid submisison though! very nicely done :D

D.I.Y Deliver it yourself by mechanicallife 2023-05-07T20:06:22Z

Implementing a whole level editor for a jam game is really impressive. And then being able to play each others levels is even more cool! :O For a jam like Ludum Dare, where a lot of people play each others games, I think it is always really nice if there is some interaction possible between different people who played your game, and this is a great execution of that. Really well done :D

The game also played really nicely. I had to balance speed and controlability at all times, which was a fun choice to make. Sometimes the uncontrolability felt a bit unpredictable (a small tap would already steer a lot, or a small bump in the road would send me flying), but it kind of fit the vibe of the game, so I was not too annoyed at it :) The music was a great choice I think.

Really impressive submission and a lot of fun. Thanks for making it! :D

ROG LD53 - Relic Courier by Rocktavious 2023-05-07T18:51:13Z

I think this was pretty cool! I really liked the combat system, which really felt like it was easy to learn but hard to master. The moody forests were also really cool and very fitting for this game. The only thing I missed from the game was more of a difficulty curve. After the first two levels I got the hang of the combat system, and could beat basically any enemy. Perhaps if the enemies had some new moves, or some faster moves, the game would have felt a bit more interesting in the later levels. But that said, I still really enjoyed my time with the game! The unusual movement mechanics also gave the game its own feel, together with the moody lighting and sound effects I think this was a very solid submission! Great job :D

FredEx by ScrapMetal 2023-05-06T16:24:09Z

This was a very short, but very fun little game! As others have said, the bouncyness may have a bit been slightly too strong, but honestly that is also kind of what gives the game its charm. I liked how the game says 'well done', even though I only managed to deliver 2 packages. I think this communicates the message that it is basically impossible to deliver more than 2 really well XD The art was also beautiful and the audio very fitting. Amazingly well done! I enjoyed it a lot :D

The Corporation by deformhead 2023-05-12T19:05:22Z

I think this is a nice start to build a bigger game from. I think it is super impressive that you made your own engine, in 3D nontheless, and everything works very well. You probably know all this, but a bit more feel with the jumps and landings (such as some sounds, maybe an animation or some particles), and something more exciting happening when you collect the things would already make this game a lot more fun. Anyway, really nice job! I enjoyed it :D

A Letter To My Friend D by Foursay 2023-05-08T21:10:29Z

This was really a beautiful experience you crafted here, I absolutely loved it! It is a very inspiring way to interpret the them I thinke. I already read the letter in full on your itch page (which was good, since some sentences were impossible to read fully in the game because they were partially of-screen for me), so I already had an idea what to expect, but the music and visuals really enhance the message of the letter a lot. You did a very good job matching the tone and feeling of the letter with the visuals and music in the game. That moment the letter went into space was amazing and gave a lot of weight to the message. I also think your message is absolutely true and very important :)

All-in-all, you did something really amazing here! Amazingly well done :D

Planet Quest by Corporation 2023-05-06T17:31:49Z

I loved this game a lot! This kind of management game, where you have to balance risk/reward all the time is really something I enjoy. The execution was also really good, so there was some actual cost/value decisions you had to make. Thanks to the hints you gave I was able to beat the game in the end :D The art and music were both also amazing and gave the whole game an amazing atmosphere.

One thing which I kind of forgot was the upgrades I could buy from the spaceship. Maybe it was just me, but maybe the fact that the button was on the other side of the screen made me completely forget about it. When I remembered I could buy stuff I realized those upgrades are really helpful :P

At first I was also thinking that it might have been nice to give your buildings some healthbar or some change of art to indicate how broken they are. Now, however, I am not entirely sure what would be the right call, because not letting the player know this gives another dimension of the risk/reward decisions. One final thing I noticed is that, in moments of stress, I would accidentally place one building on top of the other (which would then be destroyed.) I was wondering, is there a reason to allow the player to place one building on top of another? Maybe just not allowing the player to place buildings on top of each other would suit just as well?

Anyway, thank you very much for making this! I really enjoyed it a lot :D Amazing submission and really impressive for a compo game!

Devious Delivery by RNGames 2023-05-08T20:14:36Z

I think this game was very cohesive, with nice art, great music and fitting gameplay. I really liked the challenge each level presented and trying to figure out what was the best way to get past the guard with the limited boxes you had. There was some very clever level design :D One thing which bothered me a bit was that making a small mistake was very punishing and frustrating. Especially when guards are turning it is hard to predict where exactly their cone of vision will be, so I was often just beside a box in their line of sight.

But that aside I think you made a really cool game! Great job! ^_^

Rail Blazer by alanxoc3 2023-05-06T17:50:40Z

This was a really great little game! I liked the decision making, where I had to decide whether it was worth the money to make a new rail to some village, or whether I should continue selling stuff on the tracks I had already made. I also like how I could just flatten mountains if I just had enough money XD The only problem with the game I had was that once you had a big network of tracks, there was no real challenge anymore. I am not sure how to fix that though, and for a little jam game like this I also think it is completely okay :)

I also loved the cute pixel art and the nice sound effects. Really nicely done! :D

Rail Blazer by alanxoc3 2023-05-07T20:16:10Z

@alanxoc3 I liked all those ideas you wrote down! I guess I would go for something that would shake up the gameplay a little, so train upgrades and natural disasters or bandits sound like the most appealing ones to me. Perhaps you could also have some economics in there, where if you decide to sell sheep to the same village each time their prices will decrease? Or you could also put a bit of extra danger into the game, as right now you could in principle play the game indefinitely once you have a big network. Perhaps you need to pay some tax, or maintenance cost for your network, such that you have some incentive to make more money to keep up with those costs? Just spouting some ideas, feel free to ignore them all :)

I think it would be really cool if you all decided to extend the game. I would definitely like to give it another shot if you have a new version :D

Shattered Reflections by Perrin 2023-05-08T20:59:38Z

This was really cool and completely different from anything I played in the jam so far! The first puzzle was a bit tricky to figure out, mainly because there was so much information, but I really enjoyed it nontheless. (I most confess I used the same trick others mentioned in the end. I got it almost correct and cheated a bit for the final details) The second puzzle was on the other hand on the easy side for me, maybe because I already created so many possible stories in my head during the first puzzle XD Even though it was hard, I really enjoyed playing this! Just coming up with what might have happened, and trying the deduce your way through was a lot of fun. Amazing job :D

Where to Deliver? by IndivisibleParticles 2023-05-12T19:30:12Z

I think this was a very cool and creative take on the theme! I have not played a game like this in the jam yet. I was really bad at it, but I expected that much XD

Naamloos.png

I think this was in general really well executed. The art was also lovely. Maybe I would have liked a bit more feedback when I made a wrong decision, as now I had to focus on the boxes in the top right to see if one disappeared. Also some calming music would have done wonders I think, but i understand you only have so much time :) Very nice submission! Great job :D

Fulfillment by fargred 2023-05-06T16:38:25Z

I would like to be on the highscore list please :P (I had 58 points)

game.PNG

This game was a ton of fun! Especially this highscore list you made was a great idea. It really gave me the extra motivation to try again and get the top spot. I think what I realized while playing is that I dont have to hurry as much as it feels I have to. Each time the reason I died was not because the cubes made it to the end of the conveyer belt, but because I put the cubes into the wrong boxes. When I learned I should take my time and make sure I put the boxes in the right spot I did a lot better ^^

Maybe one small point of feedback is that I often do not realize the target had switched from color to shape. Maybe some sound effect or other communication to let the player know would have helped. But that said, it did not take away from the fun of this game at all. It was super simple, but really addicting. Amazingly well done :)

Edit: I shamelessly stole your idea of a leaderboard for my own game. I hope you dont mind :P How did you create the nice table?

Volksdam by Wuppos 2023-05-06T16:53:29Z

@castitatis Oh, really good score! Thanks a lot for playing :) I absolutely see the problem you raised, I also noticed it myself. Color coding the arrows is a very nice idea I did not think of. Thanks for the suggestion :)

@scrapmetal I never thought of that, but I think you are absolutely right. Staring at the sky all the time does not lead to the most immersive gameplay. I am not sure how to fix that though, as putting the arrows in front of the buildings indeed probably makes it too crowded. I will definitely take that bit of feedback with me for my next game, to keep immersion in mind. Thanks a lot for your nice feedback and for playing :D

@teadrinker Thanks a lot for playing! The idea of the increasing pitch was indeed to give a sense of speed-up and to increase tension, but I now also see what you mean about the dissonance of the sound effects with the music. I have a lot to learn when it comes to sound design, so that is a helpful piece of feedback. Thanks a lot! :)

Volksdam by Wuppos 2023-05-07T18:12:33Z

@rocktavious Thank you for playing! I see what you mean about the double trigger, it is a bit weird but I decided it was not worth the time to try and fix it :P Thank you for the feedback!

Volksdam by Wuppos 2023-05-09T20:11:54Z

@automatonvx Thanks a lot for playing! Your score is on the leaderboard :) I really would have liked to make a rhythm game, but I dont have any experience with that and I feel that my music would not be good enough for that, so I decided to make it just a reaction game. Maybe I will try a rhythm game in the future ^_^

@scum Oh, very impressive! Welcome to the top of the leaderboard! Lets see if anyone can beat you :D

@shane-gadsby Yeah, I realized this, but did not know what to do with it XD Thanks for playing and for the feedback!

@indivisibleparticles Thanks a lot for playing and for the feedback! Indeed, when the game is fast the movement of the buildings becomes very choppy. I know what causes it, but did not have enough time to fix it unfortunately.

Volksdam by Wuppos 2023-05-10T08:11:04Z

@arsher Haha, congrats! Welcome to the top of the leaderboard :D

@drtizzle Thank you very much for the feedback! I could indeed try to move parts to different update functions, that might help. Thanks :)

Volksdam by Wuppos 2023-05-12T18:43:09Z

@jimbly I am happy to hear you liked it! Yeah, not being able to appreciate the art is a shame, but I guess it is unavoidable to some agree with this kind of gameplay :/

@kanity Thank you very much for your feedback! And thanks a lot for playing! you got a really good score :D

@ogelgames There actually is a speed limit, but it might have been too high XD Thanks for playing :)

Apocalypse Prime by ADerpyChickenStudios 2023-05-07T18:27:21Z

Just driving around in this game is already a lot of fun, and having to look for packages and the silly dialogue on top made it even better. I really liked this a lot! :D Great job!

The only thing that bothered me was that I often did not really know how to get to certain delivery points, for example those on top of buildings. I guess I needed to find some ramp, but with the ticking clock I never had time to look for it. The arrow was also not helping much in this case, as it just pointed up. But that really did not take away much from the fun of driving around.

Really well done! Super solid submssion which I enjoyed greatly :D

Uberroo by Saryah 2023-05-12T19:23:15Z

Similar to others the bike drove very slowly for me, and the boost did not seem to give me a very strong speedup. That aside, I liked what you were going for with this game. All the weird variations of real life fastfood chains were really funny to me :D I also liked the idea of trying to be as fast as possible, but there was not much danger involved. Perhaps some car traffic or pedestrians to hit would have made the game more exciting :P

The Mailman by Castitatis 2023-05-06T15:44:38Z

This was a really well executed and fun game! Punching people felt very juicy and it had the right difficulty to make it fun but not too frustrating. The art, music and sound effects were all great as well. It was a bit weird how I could hit a whole group of people with the same punch, but that did not take away from the fun of the game :p (it would probably become impossibly hard if you could not do that) Really well done! I enjoyed it! :D

Museum Exhibits by asasin56 2023-05-06T16:03:05Z

This game was definitely tense. The weird noises and the dark room immediately create an unsettling atmosphere. The museum objects where just simple shapes now, but if these we actual weird alien things it may have been even more scary I think. As for the gameplay, it was not so clear what the goal was. I tried to put each object on the pedestal with the corresponding image, but nothing seemed to happen when I did that :/ Also, during the voice audio in the beginning I did not know what to do. Maybe because I could not really hear what the voice was saying. Anway, really solid submission! I think you definitely achieved to make something a bit scary. Well done :D

Dungeon Delivery by Krynxx 2023-05-08T20:28:30Z

I really liked this! It was a bold move to not give the player a minimap, but I think it worked out really well. Now you had to really keep the map in mind while you were doing all these difficult jumps, which made me really feel like a dungeon delver. It was also nice that the path was varied each time, such that you had to get through different parts of the dungeon. I did have a hard time getting a hang of the jumps and controls though. I often would land just beside a platform and then kind of slide of it. Perhaps making the hitbox of the islands slightly larger would have helped the feel a bit.

The caves were very moody due to the art and the lighting, which really fit the game. Maybe some mysterious music would have sold the mood even more :P Anyway, really well done! I think this is a super solid entry for the compo! :D

Interstate by crowbot 2023-05-06T15:51:39Z

As others said, this is a very nice base to start developing a game from! To make the driving more interesting some sound effects or other player feedback would already help a lot I think. Nicely done submitting this even though you are busy. I hope your exams went well :)

Dear friend by hmrpf 2023-05-07T19:05:33Z

This was incredible! You all did an amazing job creating a game with a super cohesive and beautiful atmosphere. I think the music, art and gameplay all worked really well together. The gameplay itself was simple, but (for me) just the right difficulty to be challenging, but not so challenging that I wanted to give up. It took me a couple of tries, but in the end I managed to deliver the letter. I also really liked how the music just cut out the moment you crashed. That gave a real sense of 'you messed up there' XD

One small thing I whished I would have seen was a little more story telling. I think it would have been a great cherry on top if there were light hints of what kind of letter you were delivering, and be able to read it at the end. But I am probably asking too much for a jam game there :P Another minor criticism was that the frame rate was a bit low for me, but that might have been because I was playing it in the browser.

Anyway, really stellar job! I loved the game to bits and it is definitely one of the best jam games I have played so far :D I do have a soft spot for simple, but beautiful games, and this definitely fits that description :P

Flooding Fisherman by JoaoPBax 2023-05-07T19:17:25Z

I really like the creativity of this game. I have never played a game like this before. You had to decide when was the right time to swtich between rods, which was easy at the beginning, but became harder as the game went on. The boat also got full of fish and people, which made it a harder to pickup what you wanted to pickup. I think all the mechanics in this game really complemented each other to create a very unique and enjoyable whole. The art and music of this game were also really cool, creating this very cosy atmosphere.

Maybe one point of feedback would have been making the different rods more distinguishable. Now each time I had to remind myself which color of fishingrod was used for what. Some extra attachements like you have on your gamepage would have been nice I think. :)

Otherwise really nice job! I liked it a lot :D

(H)armless Delivery by Herka 2023-05-06T16:18:33Z

This game had very nice gameplay which mixed light puzzling and skill. I really enjoyed it! The 3D assets were also very nice and fit the feel of the game perfectly. Together with the sound effects and the music I think the whole game feels very coherent and as a complete package :) The gameplay itself is also very good, but sometimes a bit buggy. Sometimes the ball would get stuck in a wall, and I could only get it out in certain directions for some reason. Or the ball would make a jump for a reason I did not understand. Once the jump of the ball caused it to go off the map and I had to restart the game to continue. That said, it did not take away from the really nicely designed levels. I think you did very well increasing the difficulty appropriately, with the last level being an especially nice test of the skill of the player. Really well done! I enjoyed it :D

Post It! by FakeButter 2023-05-12T19:15:30Z

I had a bit of trouble figuring out how the controls work. Sometimes the bird would suddenly fly in the other direction without a clear reason why (to me at least), and as others have mentioned, it was a bit tricky at first to know which buildings were on which layer. At some point I figured that the color of the building determined on which layer it was.

That said, I really liked what you were going for, and for a first jam this is really good! I liked the sound design and the art was pretty good! I also liked the creative main menu, and that the controls were shown within the game as well. Overall a very solid submission! Well done :)

Magical Domain by kanity 2023-05-07T19:39:28Z

Delivering things and exploring the kinds of problems different magical creatures have was a very interesting and cool take on the theme I think. You also managed to sell that personality of each creature and the differences between them really well. With the different dialogue, the special houses and unique music they all felt really different. I was afraid the game would become boring, as the gameplay itself is not very interesting, but it was the complete opppsite. Each time I was really curious about what the next creature would say or do. Really great job!

Having multiple endings is also really impressive for a jam game :O Myself I got the bad ending, but I did not really understand why if I am honet. I guess it was because I drank the dreaminess potion at the end, but surely the things I said to all the creatures also had an influence on this? It was not entirely clear to me which saying certain things was 'correct', whereas other things were not.

That said, I really liked what you did with this game. It felt very cohesive and the story was very interesting. I enjoyed it a lot :D

Delivery Force by teadrinker 2023-05-06T16:47:37Z

I loved the atmosphere of this game. The amazing music together with the dark neon-like colors really gave it a futuristic spacey vibe, which I loved! :D On thing I struggled with was that I could not distinguish the boxes on the foreground from the background very much, especially high up in the sky where the background is very dark. I often crashed into a wall which I could not even see. Otherwise I think the gameplay works really well and the tricky controls are fun to learn to master. I already said it, but especially the music is really good. I wish I was able to make stuff like that :O Great submission :)

LD54 — Limited Space

Full Circle by Erkberg 2023-10-04T19:51:54Z

Hi Erkberg! I think it is very impressive to come up with a simple idea that is a lot of fun, and this game was definitely that. It felt very satisfying to slowly learn what the length of the dash was and to get better at avoiding all those obstacles. The music is also really scifi-like and fitting, as expected from you of course :) I enjoyed this one quite a bit!

My highscore was 1:02 in the end ^_^

SDS: Space Delivery Service by wisstopher 2023-10-07T13:47:35Z

This was pretty cool! I liked the setting of you just being alone in a spaceship getting orders ready. Gameplay wise I liked that once in a while something interesting happened, which forced you to take a different path and gave you access to new items. This gave me time to slowly learn the game, while not being overwhelmed. It worked really well!

Maybe there could have been a bit more challenge to the game. For example, if you had to collect the items within a certain time it would have created a lot more tension. However, I already liked the way it was now, and maybe that was not your intention :)

The ending was pretty cool as well. I wondered what will happen to the guy in the spaceship. I guess he is safe on the one hand, but kind of in trouble at the same time? Really nicely done! I enjoyed it :D

Astro's Ladder by alec 2023-10-07T14:17:55Z

This was a really cool little puzzle game! The asthetics and music/sound were great and really fitted the intruiging puzzley gameplat. Realy well done!

Maybe it was because I played on keyboard, but I had a bit of trouble moving the ladders where I wanted them. I especially did not know how I could move them up and down. The character seemed to just do that on their own sometimes. Pressing the up and down arrows sometimes helped, but sometimes did not. Anyway, I really liked the puzzle design, where you had to figure out how to get the ladder to the right place to get to the flag. I had a lot of fun :D

Seagull Island | L'île aux Goélands by Seb_degraff 2023-10-08T14:52:49Z

I will just join everyone to say that this game is incredible. I loved the relaxing feel of this game. All parts contribute to it: the gameplay, the wonderful art, the soothing music and the nice ambient noises such as seagulls in the background. Even the fact that a boat comes by to visit at somepoint feels really nice. It feels like a really wholesome game to me.

Have you ever heard of the game 'townscraper'? Your game really reminds of that, but with more interesting gameplay. Really amazingly well done! I absolutely loved it :D

Flob the Bloing by Branquelo 2023-10-03T19:26:24Z

I always love platformers and I think this was a really good one! I made it to the end in only 66 deaths. How did I do? :D

Knipsel.PNG

The level design was on point, introducing new elements step by step and giving players a chance to play around with them in an easy environment before making it harder. Overall the game also had a very cohesive feel, with the art, music and gamplay mixing really well. One thing hat bothered me where the levels where you could not see where you were going off screen. Especially the last level, with all the lasers, suffered from this. The acceleration within the bubbles was also quite fast and therefore hard to control, but honestly that was also part of the fun :)

Really great job! I enjoyed this one a lot :D

Rush Hour by benskca 2023-10-07T12:42:51Z

This was a very original take on the theme! I really liked how sometimes not taking the most straight forward path was the best thing to do, in order to avoid the line of people. Each level you had to play a couple of times to learn those most optimals paths, which was fun to try and figure out. For this last level I made it just in time on my last try, but I have no idea how you could do better on that one XD

If you would like to expand this game I would think of more things you can do or figure out as a player. Maybe you can close doors behind you, or something like that. Just so that there are a couple more options to choose from when figuring out what is most optimal.

Anyway, the art and music were both really good and fitting as well. Very nicely done! :D

Turn it ! by Kaimon 2023-10-02T21:13:02Z

This was a very creative little puzzle game. You can really notice in the game that you scoped well, since everything feels rather complete. The art is nice, there is fitting sound effects and moody atmospherical music, and there is a lot of polish in the form of particles and decorative plants etc. I really liked it! :D

The puzzles were also very cool, but not very challenging to me. Especially because you could basically overcome any challenge with just two blocks (although it could become a bit tedious). Perhaps some way to force the player to think on where to place certain blocks would have been interesting? That said, I did really like the puzzle mechanics and I think there is a lot to explore there.

All in all, really great job! I actually enjoyed this a lot :D

Ludum Dare Solid: Limited Space Action by Daniel Grinshpon 2023-10-03T19:40:24Z

This was a very original and different concept compared to what I have seen around, which I really appreciated. It was also a lot of fun! :D At first I was a bit annoyed by the sudden movement and turns of the guards, but when I figured out I needed to see it more like a puzzle game, where I figure out what the patterns are and find the a path to get past them, it became a lot more fun! Suddenly these random turns became very enjoying, since you feel smart having predicted them and stepping just one square outside of the range.

Really nice job! I enjoyed this one very much!

I also liked that you used Love2D :D This Ludum Dare I also tried love2D for the first time, and I must say I enjoyed it a lot :) My code really became a mess though >_<

Cubicular Discerner by Foursay 2023-10-07T13:31:38Z

This was really impressive! You really made an experience with this game. The setup was really good, and then the payoff was even better. I really enjoyed it :D The puzzles were quite tricky for me, but luckily it was clear from the log messages that there was something to figure out. So I was never sitting thinking 'is this the end?'. I always knew there was something I was missing, and in the end I could solve the puzzles. Really great job!

If I get nitpicky I could say that the jumping on boxes was a bit cluncky, and that I had a bit of trouble understanding how the scanner worked at first. (I thought it would scan all objects within 8 meters around me, but it was only in my field of view.) But those are really just nitpicks and did not distract from the experience. I also really appreciated the copy from and paste to clipboard features :D

And finally, the music you made was really nice :D (Without spoiling it, the music at the end really fit the ending I feel.) Really amazing job!

PS. Am I the only one who jumped off the edge at the end? XD It was kind of beautiful, slowly falling and overlooking it all with the music in the background. It is still going while I type this. I just passed the ground and am now below it looking up :)

Hellbarrel by allenski 2023-10-08T14:08:05Z

This was so much fun! I really like these kinds of games, even though I am not very good at them. I have not idea how you are supposed to beat that boss kind of skull that appears at one point. You have so little space to work with!

Anyway, this is the best I could do

Knipsel.PNG

The art and music were really good as well, and the whole game felt really juicy and fun to play. I dont have much feedback here XD Really well done! I had a blast :D

Void Hunter by GreenPig 2023-10-07T14:51:15Z

I really liked the story that you put behind this game! It is always nice to get some immersion into the world and the game. Gameplay wise it was fun, but I had trouble choosing a level with the correct difficulty. The easier levels were nice to start with, but they became rather easy after collecting a couple of upgrades. Then I tried a harder level and got absolutely destroyed XD Maybe I am just not very good at these kinds of games.

Anyway, I think there is a lot to explore if you decide to continue developing this game. Like different enemies depending on the planet you choose and the difficulty. Or maybe different maps. Very solid submission! Well done :D

Shipped Off by fnelix 2023-10-02T21:33:24Z

This was great fun! The first stage was no so hard, but a great way to learn. Then the second stage became harder, and the third was extremely difficult for me. I did not get past it unfortunately XD (I dont think this is a bad thing though. I like a challenge :D) The art and music was also a really good fit. I enjoyed this game a lot! Really great job :D

The Incredible Trader! by Luis Carli 2023-10-07T14:29:54Z

This was realy good! The gameplay was super simple, but you managed to create a very interesting game with it nontheless. It was one big puzzle, which was a lot of fun :D I think you could easily extend this game to something bigger if you wanted to. The art was also very nicely cohesive, which made it very nice to look at. Some sounds and music would have been great though :)

Amazingly well done! I enjoyed this a lot :D

Whiskers in the Dark by Diego Teran 2023-10-08T14:26:08Z

I saw your post on how you made those lighting effects, and I got very curious. I was not disappointed! It was just a shame that you try to avoid the light, and therefore dont get to see the cool lighting that much. I nontheless tought it was very cool. I might try to do something similar in one of my games in the future since I really love the effect.

Anyhow, the game itself was also a lot of fun. Especially the later levels, where you really had to sit still for a moment and figure out the patterns and the best way to get through. I think it was a good choice to keep the platforming not too complicated, such that the puzzley element became more important. Sometimes the wall jump was a bit finnicky, but nothing too bad.

I just could not really figure out the relation to the theme, but I dont care too much about that :P Really well done! I enjoyed this one a lot :D

Homeward by Wuppos 2023-10-02T20:49:05Z

@sarah-northway @kaimon Thanks a lot for playing! I am happy you liked it :D

@falestress Changing the button which requires items to have a different design is a great idea! Thanks a lot for playing and for the feedback :D Little favorite is high praise ^_^ (but I guess it is only the beginning of the rating phase :P)

Homeward by Wuppos 2023-10-04T19:06:27Z

@kasmilus Yeah, I can understand about the font. Thanks for the feedback! Happy to hear you enjoyed it :)

@fnelix Thanks for playing! Happy you liked it

@vary Oh, 171 is a really good score :O Happy you liked it :D

@ani I completely agree with you on the missing sound effects for moving items. In general I would have loved to add a bit more game feel to the whole game, but as usual I had no time :/ Thanks a lot for playing and the nice feedback

Homeward by Wuppos 2023-10-07T12:33:44Z

@benskca I am happy you enjoyed it! I fully agree that the tetris inventory management aspect did not come in to play much. I would have liked to make more items with weird shapes, but I did no get to that unfortunately.

@luis-carli Yeah, I know and I am very sorry. This is the first time I used Love2D, and unfortunately the compiler I used apparently does not support mac. I also dont know enough about love2D to fix it yet :(

@greenpig Thanks a lot for your nice words! I would have loved to add more variety in the pictures in the top left, but I did not have time. I am glad to hear you appreciated them anyways, even though I reused them quite often :)

@erkberg Thanks a lot for playing! I am happy you liked it :D Thanks for the feedback. I agree that the inventory puzzle could have been explored more. Unfortunately I did not have time to make items with weird shapes, which would have made it a lot more interesting I think.

@sudocoffee Oh, very impressive! I though that with my max score of 190 I already reached the ceiling, but obviously not. I need to see if I can reproduce that :) I am very honered that you liked the game enough to find the optimum path through it ^_^

@kanity Thank you very much for sharing all your thoughts! I am sorry to hear that the clicking and dragging did not seem to work well for you. You should not have to click twice, so I am not sure what is going wrong there :/ It also seems that there is something weird with the resolution of the game in your case. All pixels should be equally big, but seeing your screenshot they are obviously not. This is good to know though! This is my first time making a game in Love2D, so there is still a lot to learn. I am happy you enjoyed it nontheless :D

Shattered Spirits by Tobius 2023-10-03T20:33:22Z

This was a really stunningly beautiful game, with a very soothing matching sound track. I agree with others that it was a bit tricky to wrap my head around the rules, but after reading your description closely a couple of times I finally understood how it worked and it was quite fun. The most confusing thing for me at the beginning was that it was very unclear which units were mine, and which were the opponents. I now see that they are rotated differently, but I think it would have helped if they were different in a more obvious way. There were also a lot of spirits to choose from, which was really cool but a bit overwhelming when playing for the first time. It was really neat hat each had a little backstory though. It really immersed you in the world you created here.

The AI was quite easy to beat, but I did have fun doing it :D I think this game would be even more fun against another real human opponent. Very nice job!

Escape from the clutches by Anton4ik-dev 2023-10-04T20:03:00Z

I really loved the cohesiveness of this game. The art, music and gameplay were all really good and felt like they fitted together. I was absolutely terrible at the game though. I have no idea how on earth you can win, but I guess it is part of the fun trying to figure that out. A bit more feedback to the player would have been nice, like some cool flashes when you are using a specialy or ability, or some signals when you try to use an ability which is on cooldown. At first I did not notice my powers were on cooldown at all, and I was wondering why I could not do my abilities half of the time XD

All in all, really well done! I enjoyed it :D

Hoverspace by DeltaMain 2023-10-04T20:17:06Z

This was a lot of fun! You did a great job making a simple, but super satisfying game. The sound effects, little flashes and explosions of stuff when you killed an enemy really gave this a very satisfying feel. The art and music were also on point! I also really liked the upgrade system. You had to balance your money on a lot of things, such as upgrading, healing or increasing the playing area, making the decisions very meaningful. Each upgrade also felt impactfull and it was fun to try abd go for a certain build. I do feel the rate of fire is kind of OP though XD One thing that was not so clear to me was how the boost worked. It somehow boosts you towards the mouse, but I did not really understand why I would want that.

The difficulty scaling is also really good, with new enemies introduced and extra health and all that. I think this was just a very good and polished game. Really well done! :D

Crime² by RobLaro 2023-10-04T19:21:20Z

This was a really nice game! I figured out pretty quickly that I could put objects upright, such that a very long shotgun takes up only very little space, so I felt pretty smart and tought I broke the game. But then during scoring I learned that also the amount of empty space you have left is taken into account XD The second round went much better, trying to figure out which objects nicely fit into each other to optimally use the space. It became a kind of jigsaw puzzle game, which was a lot of fun.

Maybe a couple more sound effects or a bit of variation in the background music would have been nice, but those are really just nitpicks :P

Really nice entry! I enjoyed it a lot :D

Morgue Mayhem by Mantsje 2023-10-03T20:18:16Z

I loved the art of this game! It is so pretty! Unfortunately I dont have a controller where I am at right now, so I had to play with keyboard and this was very confusing. Each time a button popped up I had to check again which button I had to press, and often I accidentally incinerated stuff XD It was also a bit hard to see what the requests were sometimes (especially the gray eye color was confusing to me at the beginning).

However, after trying it a few times I got the hang of it and I started to enjoy it. Especially when multiple coffins were introduced I really felt the pressure, and I would have loved to have a couple more people to play with XD

Really nice submission! Great job :D

CosmoTrasher by Prologi 2023-10-02T21:24:40Z

I got 2:56 :D

Knipsel.PNG

This was really cool! This lasso type of mechanic was easy to learn, but hard to master. Sometimes I could pull off a sweet move, but more often than not I would just crash into an asteroid XD The acceleration of the grappling hook was a bit too much for me to handle at times. The addition of a pracitce mode was also much appreciated, allowing me to play around a bit before going for the actual speedrun.

I really enjoyed this one! Really well done :D

Gacha Fever by Falestress 2023-10-02T21:01:25Z

This was really nice. I am not very familiar with the vampire survivors genre, but I think this was a nice introduction :D I really felt that I got stronger each round, with more bullets and electric orbs flying around the screen. One thing that was not very clear to me was when a level ends. Sometimes it felt like the level continued a very long time such that I had very little space left at the end. Othertimes the edge circle was not even close to the center yet. Maybe I am just not familiar enough with the genre to understand :/

But the game was really fun to play and the art was beautiful. I also think the sounds and music matched pretty well, making it a nice cohesive package. Really well done! :D

Limited Space Cart by MajoMirez 2023-10-07T14:58:30Z

I loved this! It is such a simple, yet very satisfying game. The sound and music are a perfect match with the silly gameplay. Really well done :D One thing which was not so clear to me was whether there is any point subtraction for items that fall on the ground. I think I saw negative points at one point, but in this run I definitely also dropped some stuff on the ground and did not get any points subtracted.

My max score was 3150 in the end

Confession Room by Dijkstra 2023-10-04T19:41:27Z

I really liked this take on the theme! It is very different than any other game I have played in this jam and I enjoyed it a lot. Your writing was very good and highlighted by the trembling letters and smart use of half-sentences to create some tension. The story itself was also intruiging, and it was a lot of fun trying to figure out what was going on and choosing the appropriate responses. Although I must confess that I did not fully understand what was going on in the end.

Really nice and creative submission! Great job :D

Elevators Go Boink by sudocoffee 2023-10-08T13:36:01Z

This was definitely unique XD It was also very funny! It put a smile on my face for sure :D I am not sure if there was supposed to be any skill behind getting to the buttons, but just rotating and pressing up got me there eventually. It definitely felt like I had 'limited space' XD Thanks a lot for making this quick experience!

Single Circle by kanity 2023-10-08T13:55:14Z

This was a lot of fun! The story was very intruiging and all the decisions felt meaningfull. It really felt like there was a whole world down there, even if we did not get to see all of it. A lot of the world building was mysterious and vague, which to me made it feel like there was a lot of depth (pun intended :P) to the story.

The art was also beautiful and fitted really nicely with the atmosphere of the story. The music was great too, but got a little repetitive for me after a while. First time I got the safe ending, but I feel that one did not really count XD Second time I got the normal ending, so I guess my choices were not terrible. I really do wonder what those gemstones meant though.

All in all you made a really beautiful experience with this game! Really well done! I enjoyed it a lot :D

Trashy Space Dice by Sarah Northway 2023-10-02T20:46:10Z

I think this was very clever! I liked the puzzley aspect of it, where I was trying to get dice of a certain type. Such as trying to get a 1, such that I could replace all the actions and hopefully get a reset heat action. There was a nice balance between randomness and decision making I think.

One thing which was not very clear to me was how exploding dice affected other dice. I know they heat up other dice, but was this based on proximity? Or just randomness?

All in all I really enjoyed playing. Good job! :D

Greasy Justice by kasmilus 2023-10-03T19:57:35Z

This game is absolutely beautiful! I love the simple but very nice and cute pixel art :D The sound design was also really good and fitting. I must say I had a bit of trouble with the gameplay itself. First of all, the game reacted very slowly to my mouse input. Sometimes I had to click multiple times for it to register at all. This made it a bit difficult to play, since there is a low of mouse clicking involved. There was also a lot happening at the same time, although I think I understood it reasonably well (also thanks to the very nice tutorial at the beginning!)

So unfortunately, due to the frustrating mouse response issue I cannot fully do your game justice, but it seems very intruiging for sure! If you ever find a way to fix it let me know and I will try again :D

Ventory's Inn by Teist 2023-10-08T13:28:55Z

First of all, what an amazing art and music! Even some voiceacting! The polish on this game was amazing. Really well done! The gameplay was also very interesting, trying to collect the items as quickly as you can and playing a little tetris-like game. The first couple of minutes I really enjoyed it :D After a while it became a bit boring, doing the same requests over and over. I think that if the difficulty ramped up faster it would have been a shorter experience, which would have avoided the repetitiveness.

It also would have been nice if the characters told you what you were missing. A couple of times I tought I had everything and pressed next client, but apparently missed something because they were not happy. It would have been nice if they told me what they missed.

But all of that is very minor. This was a beautiful game with solid gameplay which I enjoyed a lot. Amazingly well done :D

LD55 — Summoning

Patty Panic by thomz12 2024-04-27T12:02:26Z

I really liked this interpretation of the theme and this was an excellent execution of the idea! I really loved the simplicity of it. You really only needed to be told to move with WASD and the rest is super easy to figure out. Sometimes I ran into the problem that I unintentionally gave my burgers to a different person than I intended, but this felt like part of the charm of this game. The movement was also super fast and smooth, which together with all the effective stretch and squash animation gave it really nice gamefeel. Really well done! This was a super enjoyable submission :D

Replicate-You by loveapplegames 2024-04-28T03:15:38Z

This was a really cool idea! I always wondered if neural networks could be used to learn from player gameplay, but I always assumed that the amount of data a single player will generate would never be enough to actually learn a neurel network. It seems I was wrong! It would be neat if you could use neural networks somehow to learn player behaviour and use that to create enemies that are specifically hard for that players playstyle.

This was really interesting! Thanks for this submission :D

I Summon Bounce by nardandas 2024-04-27T11:52:34Z

This was a very nice and complete package, with very nice graphics a great tune and gameplay which is a lot of fun! :D At first it was very hard to predict where a ball would land and when I should summon a platform, but after a bit of practice I became better at it. In the end I got a score of 64800 on easy mode which I am proud of ^^ (Compared to some other people in this comment threads it is not very good though >.<)

The one little point of feedback/suggestion would be to be a bit more lenient with the ball hitting the platform. Maybe if you are a little late placing the platform, or the ball just misses the platform, the ball could still go up. That might make it feel a bit nicer to play. Maybe it would make it too easy, but just a suggestion.

Thanks a lot for making this! This was fun :D

DegeNerative Dungeon by A.Bond 2024-04-28T03:36:55Z

I liked what you were going for here! A kind of survival game, where you should keep moving to avoid the summonign circle, but at the same time you should not move too recklessly to avoid the traps and to attack the enemies. I think this could give really nice gameplay. My one problem with the game was that the loading of the level took a very long time. Because I had to wait for the loading every time I died (which I did a lot :P) it became a bit frustrating having to wait.

That said, wavefunction collapse is a really cool algorithm and perfect for something like this. I really would like to play with it myself someday. Unfortunately I do not use godot, so I guess I should figure out how to implement it myself :)

Summons of the Sovereign by Hare Software 2024-04-27T13:03:50Z

The fact that you made this in a weekend is super impressive! I really like the chess feel, but without needing to think 10 turns ahead due to the randomness. Every turn is like a little optmizing puzzle, where you have to decided what piece should go where. Maybe the randomness was a little too much sometimes, because it was (for me at least) very hard to get a 'checkmate' situtation. Very often the opposing queen managed to get out of a tough spot because she happened to draw a move or a musketeer. Of course, I myself also profited of that same randomness quite a few times ^^

The fact that you had voice acting was really cool! The art was also super nice and really gave each of the different pieces its own feeling. Really well done! I really enjoyed this entry :D

Elemental Surge by Foursay 2024-04-18T03:16:50Z

This was really really good! Unfortunately I was very bad at it (my high score was only 51 sacrifices) Schermopname (41).png

I still really enjoyed it though! It was very interesting that making these summoning circles could by either good or bad depending on when and where you placed them. It gave a bit of a twist to the normal survivor shooter formula, where you cannot just spam the shoot button. Trying to go for those turrets seemed like a good strategy, but it was also very risky since I had to get up close to the enemies. This is what usually killed me I think ^^

One small critisism is that sometimes enemies spawned in front of me while I was running around, which made them almost impossible to dodge in time. But this was really something very minor.

Oh, and the art and music are amazing of course! Really great job with this submission! ^_^

Sigil by Wuppos 2024-04-29T08:05:29Z

Thanks a lot for playing everyone! I have been quite busy the last couple of weeks, so I really appreciate all the playthroughs even though I was not able to rate and play as many games as I would have liked to myself.

@kanity Hmm, I agree that there must be a bug somewhere. What you show in the image should have been the correct answer. Testing a bit myself it seems that this especially happens in the early levels. I will have to see if I can fix that :/ Thanks a lot for letting me know!

@freshd That is odd, for me the windows version works properly. What kind of error does it give?

@loka I did not know about that entry at all, but it indeed looks very similar! I should try that one myself as well to see if I can learn something from them :D Thanks for letting me know about it!

@happyglitch Thanks a lot for playing! Yeah, it seems that in the early levels there is a bug floating around which does not accept the correct solution. Retrying is an interesting idea, I will have to think on that.

@zhennaperks I intend to update the game a little bit at some point. To make the UI a bit clearer, fix some bugs and maybe add some music and sound effects. I would also like to add an in-game tutorial, but I am not sure yet how to go about that. Anyhow, thanks a lot for playing! :D

Sigil by Wuppos 2024-04-29T12:09:34Z

@freshd I just included all the dll files, so hopefully it should work now. Thanks a lot for your help! It worked on my computer even if I just downloaded the exe file, but I guess this is because I have love2D installed.

Ethereal Transport Academy by Tobius 2024-04-27T12:36:43Z

I really liked the game and the interpretation of the theme! I would have never thought of a teleportation/summoning circle station, haha :D The art was super beautifull, which really fit the silly storyline. I was really hoping to save the wizard at the end though. Maybe as a very hard last level or something.

Sometimes the controls were a bit finnicky. For example, when the mortar and pestle was close to a candle, I sometimes had difficulty putting some herbs into the mortar and pestle because it kept interecting with the candle. But this was very minor and definitely did not spoil the game at all.

Really well done! :D

Dark Altar by Adrien Tremblay 2024-04-29T08:15:49Z

Someone commented on my game that we had very similar games, so I came to check out your game. :D I really liked it! The puzzle mechanics work very well and really give you that puzzley-sudoku feel. I also really appreciated the story, which added a nice immersive touch which my game is sorely lacking >.< This was a lot of fun! Thanks for making this game :)

Pictomancer by RobLaro 2024-04-18T03:48:47Z

I loved this! It was a super clever twist on the cookie clicker type of games, where some dexterity skill was mixed in. It worked really well too, with the cool upgrades which actually felt meaningfull and quite a large variery of diagrams to draw (some of which were really hard!)

The art was also super cute and fit the theme wonderfully! Really well done! I enjoyed this one quite a bit :D

Bring on the Blocks by alzhu1 2024-04-27T12:07:31Z

This was a short, but really nice little puzzle game! The puzzles were very clever and I often had to think out of the box to solve them. Really well done! Great submission :D

The Bread Soceress Panini! by Aly Name 2024-04-18T04:06:48Z

I am really impressed that you managed to make all of this in only 72 hours! It feel like a complete game, with a story, level select menu and beautiful graphics. I also really liked the gameplay. It took me a second to figure out that I could hover over enemies with the mouse to see their movement patterns, but once I figured that out it became a very intruiging puzzle. Especially when there were multiple enemies with different movement patterns it became really complicated. I had a lot of fun with this one! Great job! :D

Summoner Defense by PT09 2024-04-28T03:25:55Z

This was a really nice and solid tower defense game! Great job! I think you had all the right elements, with some summons which acted in different ways, and a map where you could try out different strategies for summon placements. One thing which was a bit unclear at the beginning was where the enemies would come from and what I should defend, but this became clear pretty quickly after a couple rounds. Great submission, especially for your first game jam :D

PIED PIPER by arColm 2024-04-18T02:48:40Z

This was really cool! I loved the minimal, yet very cute asthetic. The little sounds of the flute especially :D I also thought this concept was very original and worked great for a puzzle game! The way you introduced each new mechanic step-by-step was done really well and not overwhelming. Then starting to combine them all made for some really challenging, but fair puzzles. Really well done!

rotator by Gallant_Dev 2024-04-18T02:58:49Z

As everyone has already said the art and music is amazing! It really fits the atmosphere of the game. I was a bit confused about the gameplay. You mentioned it is a 'strategic' rock-paper-scissors, but I dont really understand where the strategy is? How can I different that picking a random card and hoping my opponent does not beat me? I guess I might misunderstand the rules of the game :) Anyway, really well done!

I also cannot seem to rate your game unfortunately :( Was this on purpose?

LD57 — Depths

Lovely, Dark and Deep by randomhuman 2025-04-12T19:39:17Z

This game had an amazing vibe! I think the pixel art really worked wonders, with the beautiful, but a little weird style. This fit the fun, but a little weird game really well :D I also loved the mood you set by the odd encounters and the chat between John and Sully. It was very funny and often made my chuckle out loud.

My only complaint would be the randomness. Sometimes I died very early from starvation, simply because I never got any food. Then the game told me I did not do very good, so I thought I missed something somewhere (if I did, please let me know). That being said, I did not mind the randomness too much for this game. It also kind of fit the vibe :)

All in all, really well done! I enjoyed this game a lot :D

Back to the Boat! by jelch 2025-04-12T20:52:11Z

Wow, what a mood! This game created a perfect spooky underwater feel. With the sonar, the flashlight and the slow movement. The art and sounds/music also all came together very well too. The only thing I was missing was a sense of progress. I did not really know what my aim was, besides just randomly moving through the caves until I got eaten. All in all, really well done though! This was great :D

Scavenger Deep by hope42morrow 2025-04-08T19:44:28Z

This game was super atmospheric, which I already saw just from the screenshots. The gameplay matches this atmosphere really well too. It all feels very lonely, moody and a bit depressing to me, as I imagine such a catastrophic world would feel. I also like how you are never really told how to play in the game, but you kind of figure it out as you go. For a simple game like this it works fine, and it really adds to the atmosphere to not have any gamey tutorial popups.

Unfortunately I ran into some gliches at some point. The game started to lag a bit and my character would not move left or right anymore when I was on the ocean floor :/

Still, I think it is really amazing what you created in 72 hours. Great job!

Jellylight by Steven Garberg 2025-04-09T21:00:00Z

This was a really cute little game! I liked the bright colors and the fitting music. The gameplay was also fun, especially trying to judge wether to descend slowly to collect more light. The hostile creatures did not really seem to bother me though? I feel like I bumped into some quite a few times, but they didnt seem to mind :/ I think making those predators more dangerous could add a lot more tension to the game :)

Anyway, I think you did a really great job! Very solid submission! :D

Sun(d)less Descend by Foursay 2025-04-08T20:07:03Z

Wow, what a game! This felt incredibly unique. It took me a bit to figure out what to do (it did not help I did not know what a phoneme was, so after I looked up the definition things became a lot more clear), but after that I was hooked. Everything really comes together in this game, the art, the music/sounds and the gameplay are all super atmospheric and cohesive. It really gives these eldritch horror kind of vibes, which was incredible.

I also found it super clever how the gameplay and the story were intertwined, because you had to listen to the story to get further with the game. It did mean I was sometimes listening more to the individual words than to the overall context. I also feel like I missed quite a few of the notes you could find, since you had to look left and right to spot them, which I did not always do. The story itself was nice and vague, but with just enough info to fill in the gaps yourself. I think this is exactly the right choice for this kind of game :)

So all in all I think this was incredible! Really well done!

WanderWood by AdamCYounis 2025-04-08T20:55:43Z

I think this was a very clever kind of 'open world' puzzle game, where traversing the world itself was the puzzle. It was pretty difficult to wrap my head around how to align the different layers in my head, which was a lot of fun. The art was also super pretty and together with the sounds and music this made a really fun cohesive game. In the beginning it was a bit hard to understand for me why I could not switch layers sometimes and what the orbs were for, but after some time I figured out that the two were related :)

Unfortunately I got stuck in a wall at some point, which made me lose all my progress, but these kinds of bugs are bound to happen with ludum dare games. Game design wise it would have helped me to see where the plants would grow after I discovered them. I think this would have helped the puzzley feel of trying to get to places. Now I often found myself retrying the orbs all over the place to remember where I could use them.

But all in all I think this was a really fun entry! And super impressive for a game made in only 48 hours.

The chronicles of Mr. Marmo by Wouter52 2025-04-12T20:44:37Z

This was fun to play! I liked the mix of platform/swimming and puzzling. The also really the art! The bright colorscheme was very cozy and nice :D Of course the music was amazing, as others have mentioned XD

After a couple levels it did become a little repetitive, so I must admit that I did not make it to the later levels. That being said, it was fun while I played it :D Great submission!

The chronicles of Mr. Marmo by Wouter52 2025-04-13T20:29:48Z

@wouter52 Hmm, I guess the main reason it felt a bit repetitive for me were the controls/physics. Swimming is most of what you are doing all the time (besides solving the puzzles ofc, which I really liked), so I think the game would feel much better and less repetitive when the swimming is more satisfying. Maybe the speeds with which you go up and down could be played with a bit, or simply more 'juice' when swimming. Or perhaps a dive button with which you can go down faster? Maybe that would give a bit more interesting movement to play with while travelling from one pearl to the other.

I hope I am not being too critical! Those are just some thoughts I had, but I am by no means an expert. Just trying to learn alongside you :)

Lumen Dephts by MartRoks 2025-04-09T19:56:36Z

This ended way too early! I was really feeling the vibe, with the music and the art and the darkness. It felt pretty scary, but a kind of cozy scary (I dont know why, I guess a combination of the music and the art?). I also really liked the pixelated 3D effect! I would love to try a style like that myself some day when I try to make a 3D game. Really solid submission! Well done :D

The Way We Left, by Elien Pathcarver by alyd asmar 2025-04-09T21:32:45Z

This was really well done! I always wanted to make someting using ink, and this game is motivating me even more to try it. You can make really cool things with it! :D

I dont really know what to add that others havent already said. The mood is amazing in this game. Every choice feels uncertain, as I am guessing the main character feels as well. The world also feels dangerous and evil, to the point that you start mistrusting a child. The art and music also enhanced this atmosphere a lot. One small nitpick I had was that the music just cut off at some points to restart or start a new song. A crossfade would have felt less jarring I think :)

Overall this is an amazing submission! I had a lot of fun :D

The Scourge from the Deep by Wuppos 2025-04-08T21:05:01Z

Thank you all for playing! :D With all of you beating the boss in around a minute or two I wonder if I did not make the game to easy XD

This is the first time I am making a boss fight like this, so I really appreciate all the feedback!

@nordus Yeah, I had a really hard time balancing this game. I think for some it might be too hard and for some it might be too easy. Which timings do you think need rebalancing?

@jackshadow Hmm, there shouldnt be a delay when dodging I think :/ Is it not because the dodge is on cooldown? If not I will have to check that.

@justine-d I see what you mean about the delay in the attack animation! There are a couple of animation frames for the wind up of the sword swing, but maybe I should have just cut those out.

The Scourge from the Deep by Wuppos 2025-04-12T18:14:23Z

@jnur Haha, it definitely takes some getting used to (and overcoming some frustrations) when switching from Unity to Love2D. But at the same time I really enjoyed it. I can recommend it :) Thanks a lot for playing and your kind words!

@roblaro I see what you mean! Now you are really glued to the ground when you attack. On the one hand I also kind of like this though, it makes attacking a little risky to do. But thanks a lot for the feedback! Your time is also super impressive :O You definitely get a spot on the scoreboard!

@vary Thanks a lot for your feedback! I fully agree with your feedback on the mouse controls, I should have made the character dash towards the cursor I guess. Thanks a lot for playing and congrats on your super fast time :O

@joyceisdrawing Ah, yeah that is a bit of an oversight I guess XD I didnt want to make the fight to hard, so I was a bit conservative with the boss's health :/ Thanks a lot for playing and your kind feedback :)

@smeljey Wow, you are at the top of the scoreboard with that time! Well done :O I agree with you that the final stage if a bit too much. I wanted a challenging finale, but this is a bit too much :)

The Scourge from the Deep by Wuppos 2025-04-12T20:19:32Z

@jamesgames1000 I know right? Me myself also never defeated the boss that fast. 56s seconds is still really good though :) You deserve a spot on the scoreboard. Thanks a lot for playing! I am happy you enjoyed it

The Scourge from the Deep by Wuppos 2025-04-13T20:18:01Z

@blackpulse Thanks a lot for playing and for the feedback! I fully agree about the music not fitting the gameplay. I am pretty new to making music, so I have a hard time to make music which provokes a specific feeling. Usually I just make something and hope it fits :/ Do you have any tips?

@byebye Thanks a lot for the nice feedback! I fully agree with your feedback. I think I still had too much of 'normal enemy' mindset while creating this. When I have time I might try to update the fight a bit to make it feel better :)

@fluffyou Ah, the windows sticky keys XD That sounds very annoying, but I hope it didnt spoil the game too much. (You could also use ctrl for the dash, which I didnt mention anywhere but also works.) Thanks a lot for your feedback and for playing!

Into The Depths by SmelJey 2025-04-12T18:54:22Z

Really impressive how you made a strategy game like this in a weekend! I really enjoyed playing. It took me a couple plays to really understand how the game worked, but once I did it was a lot of fun to try and plan for what tiles might come next. One thing which I never really understood, however, is when a turn is over? Is it after every couple of tiles you place? Now I was a bit surprised everytime the people had to eat (which sometimes made me lose unexpectedly).

This was a fun submission! Well done :D

Voidwood by Tobius 2025-04-12T18:25:38Z

This was really polished and super beautiful! The cover art alone really drew me in, and the art during the game was also extremely pretty. I really liked the music as well, but I felt it did not match the vibe very well, especially during the first part. Then in the second part (which was completely unexpected, but super cool, by the way) the music did fit really very well :) I also liked the mechanics of the game. The multiple roots going down often made my brain go into analysis paralysis whenever multiple roots were on a collision course with rocks XD Really well done! This was fun :D

Umbrage by jnur 2025-04-09T21:09:00Z

This was a lot of fun! The mechanics of jumping on enemies heads always works very well as a platforming mechanic and I think you executed it really well here. I also thought the visuals were incredibly simple, but so effective and charming. I really need to learn how to make 'simple' styles like this look good. I also disagree with you that the jumping didnt feel good. It took some getting used to, but I did not mind it at all. I also felt the levels were made in the right way, with this floatyness in mind.

I was also surprised to see that the levels were semi-random :D This gave it a flavour of variety which made every run feel fresh. I liked this compared to conventional platformers where you are always bashing your head against the same level (although I like those as well sometimes :P)

Really great job! This was a fun one :D

Go to sleep... by eeldam 2025-04-12T19:17:09Z

I really liked the idea of this game! It is super unique and the topic is very relatable. It is also very satisfying to puzzle around with the words and remaking these sentences :) Sometimes I really did not see how I could rephrase a sentence to something good though. Maybe I am just not good enough at this game :/

That being said, I really like the creativity of this game. I really loved it :D

Dig and Delve by RobLaro 2025-04-08T20:27:04Z

This was a really cute little game, executed very well! I think the digging was very satisfying and slowly progressing through the levels was fun. Upgrading your gear also felt impactful, which was great! The icons above the upgrade stations were not always very clear to me though, so I did not know very well what I was upgrading. The models were also really cute, as expected from you two of course :D

I also liked the enemies! They added a bit of tension to all the mining. Perhaps you could have even added a few more to make it even more exciting :)

Very well done! Very solid submission!

Pogo Dwarf by NTMalichi 2025-04-09T19:08:17Z

This game is very fun, but also super frustrating XD With a few tweak I feel this could easily become a rage game that streamers like to play, haha The art was also really nice and fitting. Great job! :D

DORFS by pro4 2025-04-09T19:47:37Z

This was a lot of fun! I am not very familiar with these kinds of idle games, so this was a great introduction :D It also got me a little confused at the beginning, but I figured it out soon enough. What I did not understand at first was why the miners were just dumping the gold on the ground, instead of bringing it to the safe XD But then I understood I had to click on it to pick it up :)

I think the artstyle fit the theme perfectly! And it felt very satisfying when you got further to see all the gold fly over the screen to the safe. Really well done! :D

Lifted by andriybyelikov 2025-04-12T20:01:56Z

This game was very simple, but still gave the impression of a living world around it. I also think the message of the game was fitting :) I think a bit more work to the ending could have helped. An end screen telling me what happened after could have felt much more satisfying I think.

That said, well done! I liked the little world you built here :)

DEEP PIT (you fell) by aniretti 2025-04-09T20:07:18Z

This was a lot of fun :D I really wonder what objects people come up with in this game. I feel I was not very creative XD I did manage to make it to the top though, with a weight of 57.

I would have never expected a word based game with this theme, but I liked your spin on the theme! Very creative. Great submission! I had a lot of fun with this one :D

The Core by willianfhs 2025-04-12T21:01:06Z

I loved this! The gameplay is a lot of fun with this one :D It feels really satisfying to slowly get better, learn the levels and get further and further. The art, sounds and music also really fit the feel and gave some much needed gamefeel and juice :D

The one problem I have with this game is that the controls were very confusing when I was at the ceiling. Suddenly my left arrow key went to the right and vice versa. This was especially confusing when I flipped sides with spacebar, which meant I rarely used this cool mechanic. Unfortunately I also dont really know a solution to this, since swapping the controls halfway is probably also weird :/

That being said, I really did like the gameplay! I had a lot of fun :D

Ciggy by kenevil1 2025-04-09T20:40:42Z

This game was pretty hard for me. Trying to stay alive while not falling done was quite tricky. It made me think of this minecraft minigame where you are doing a similar thing, but against other players. Then I read the description and learned that you were meant to jump down quickly XD

I just did not really discover what the black thing at the lowest layer of each level was. Was it something you could defeat? Anyway, really well done!

TLYA by Fenix131113 2025-04-12T19:52:17Z

Well done! This is already quite fun to play! The art and music are also really cool. I think this game is heading in the right direction. The main problem I had was that the enemies were very difficult to defeat. In principle this is not a problem, but I think that did not really fit the style of this game. There were also a lot of enemies that kept spawning all the time, so trying to defeat them all was not very effective.

On the other hand, you did have the skills to avoid the enemies. The floaty jump made it possible to jump over them, and the high run speed made it possible to outrun them. This in combination with the quests made it already a lot of fun just trying to evade the mob while you were searching the level for levers and boxes. Maybe leaning more into that aspect of the game could lead to some interesting gameplay. :)

Anyway, really well done! A solid submission for sure. :D

Diggimeow by Pupirka 2025-04-09T20:29:56Z

This was a really polished, fun little game :D Everything looked very cohesive and gameplay wise it was fun to choose your upgrades after each level. I just felt that the one-block large treasures were a bit unfair, since it really felt like a gamble if you could find them or not. Maybe some more mechanics that give hints to where they might are might be fun? Anyway a really solid submission! Well done!

Treats for Charybdis by fragskye 2025-04-12T18:41:41Z

This is a delightfully ridiculous game. It was amazing XD Was there some specific event of people dumping car batteries in the sea that inspired this?

I think making such a silly and funny game well actually takes a lot of skill. Really well done! The game mechanics were simple, but fun. I also feel like my battery kept bouncing way more than those of the NPCs, which I think is very clever game design, if this is intentional.

Really well done! I enjoyed this one a lot :D

Dive to Survive by Zshandi Krahn 2025-04-12T20:10:50Z

Well done! The platforming was unique and very interesting once I got the hang of it. Especially the floating double jump was fun to play with. I think you can (and you did) do some interesting level design with that! The slow movement also made me really feel like I was playing underwater (although it was also a bit frutrating at times). Really well done with this one! It was fun to play :D

Layered by Caer 2025-04-12T20:17:04Z

This was way too short! D: Just when I felt like I got the game and started to get excited it was over. In other words, you really got me interested with the simple puzzle mechanics you showed off. I think you could do a lot with this :) And having made it in your own engine in rust is just super impressive! Really well done!

One little thing which was a bit weird to me was the controls for moving the camera. Something like left mouse button would have felt more natural than spacebar I think.

DropDeep by Elian Geser 2025-04-09T19:32:36Z

This was really good! I got to a score of 992 :D At first I did not get more than 200 points, but then one run something clicked somehow and then I got this score. I really like the mechanic where you can choose yourself to speed up or slow down. It makes it feel super satisfying for me to go fast, because it was super risky but oh the points :D

Overall I think you did a great job with the game feel, which I think added a lot to this game. The splats are super good, the music speeding up as you fall faster feels great and the red signalling of the platforms worked very well.

I think this was just a super fun game to play. Really well done!

Devour by ScoobySnacks 2025-04-12T20:27:24Z

This was a very fun game! I liked the twist that you are the monster in the depths, instead of playing as someone who is scared of the depths. Slowly being able to reach further and further was very satisfying, and learning the movement patterns of the dolphins was cool as well. The music and sound effects also fit the mood perfectly. I am not sure what the eye at the end meant though :)

Anyway, really well done! I had a lot of fun with this one :D

Ad Light by jtap 2025-04-09T19:19:22Z

This was a simple, but fun game! I think the atmosphere, with the pretty art, moody shadows and fitting music really made this game. You also had to distract the fish a couple times to get to the mollusks, which was clever. I ran into a very minor bug on the last level, where I spawned on top of the big boss monster and instantly died every time I started it. It turned out it was because of my ultrawide monitor XD If I played the game on a 'normal' sized monitor it worked fine :)

Really well done! Especially for your first game jam :D

Echo Dive by Ricesteam 2025-04-12T19:07:19Z

Really well done! This fit the theme really well, with a perfect mood that I would imagine when I hear 'depths'. The gameplay was also fun, but I feel that I went way too slow at the beginning. I was happy you wrote in the description that I had to get down too 30.000 meters, which made me speed up a little bit. The gameplay with the sonar was very clever. You just know there is 'something' up ahead, but not if it is good or bad. It makes you feel on your toes the whole time, which perfectly fits the theme :)

One thing which frustrated me a little bit where the octopusses. I did not know how to deal with them, since they hit me before I could react. Using the sonar also did not seem to help much, since they move around quite a bit. :/

That aside, I really like the game! Well done :D

1100 Dots by thingus 2025-10-08T14:49:32Z

This was a really cool prototype of a game :D I really loved how it looked and the gameplay was actually also interesting. I feel like some calming music could really fit the vibe here :)

One thing that isnt so clear to me is what the different colors of particles mean. Is it just for aesthetics (which really works) or is there a meaning to it?

Relic Hunter by ehtd 2025-10-08T14:59:28Z

This was really fun :D There is just something inherently fun about clearing out an area of blocks XD This was also really helped by the nice sound effects and pretty art. One small problem I ran into was that I needed to play with the size of my game window, or some of the UI would be off screen. This wasnt a big problem though and easily fixed from my side.

I was also thinking, perhaps it would have been fun to have some unbreakable blocks, such that exploring the mine became a bit more of a maze? That is just an idea though, feel free to ignore it. Really solid submission! Well done :D

Sense of Shelf by zactyl 2025-10-08T16:58:12Z

This was a lot of fun! Even though you were not really told how to organize your bookshelf, it was still fun to choose rules for myself and try to follow them :D It is very much the joy I get from organizing my own bookshelves ^^

I also ran into the same problem @guyingrey ran into, the bookshelf photos were a bit off. This did not stop my enjoyment at all though :) A bit of calming music would have really completed the experience I feel.

Reall well done!

Opa is de Koning by Re-Markable 2025-10-13T21:04:17Z

Incredibly wholesome and nostalgic! It really made me feel warm and fuzzy inside, remembering the good times I had as a kid during sleepovers at my own opa and oma :) The voice acting was also super nice and cute. It is sounds like you were able to convince your family/families to help you with it, which is very wholesome in and of itself. The calming music and the simple but effective 3D world all fit with this atmosphere very well too.

It would have been nice to have some subtitles for the voiceacting that happened whenever you handed in items to opa. Not only because not everyone speaks Dutch, but also because the volume was a bit low at times. I think those little interactions with opa were some of the most wholesome :)

Also, another super minor, nitpicky detail is the fence that suddenly appears in your face when you walk all the way to the front. Maybe it would have been nicer if there is just an invisible wall at some point :)

Heel erg goed gedaan! Ik heb jullie spel echt met veel plezier gespeeld :D

What's Left to Keep? by Foursay 2025-10-07T16:03:59Z

Extremely well done! Your games always have a certain mysterious vibe that I really enjoy, and this one carried a very strong message that was expressed wonderfully. I really enjoyed slowly figuring out wat this game was about. The visual style was also amazing. I nearly missed the music though, but I am happy I found it so that I could play it in the background while going through the game :D

Galactic Data Collector by Gat 2025-10-07T18:32:44Z

Super impressive that you made a game inspired by papers please in a weekend :O It also plays really well! At first I was a bit confused, since I did not realize that there could be multiple problems with a persons information and that you had to indicate it all. That is a very minor point though, I had a lot of fun playing. The art was also really well done. Great job! :D

Eightatwenty by HNKXOBKA 2025-10-07T16:19:31Z

The mood and atmosphere really stood out for this game! Really well done. I really felt like someone slowly going crazy while playing this game :) Unfortunately I could not make it to the end because I could not find the shoes anywhere. I walked around for a long time trying to find them :/ Am I just blind or did something go wrong?

Garbage Collectors by squashi 2025-10-07T19:01:50Z

This is a lot of fun for some reason XD It shouldnt be fun, but it really is! What really helped was that the upgrades you get are very impactful, which really feels like I am making progress faster and faster to remove all the garbage. I did not get to remove everything (is that even possible? :O), but I got a good corner of it I think!

If you still want to improve the game, I would consider updating the descriptions of the upgrades a little bit. It says that 'you get a sightly larger click area', but the size of the actual rocks flying to the fire is actually increased quite a lot XD

Really well done! I enjoyed this a lot :D

Hottentottententententoonstelling by Wouter52 2025-10-13T20:32:53Z

This was really wonderful! Such a creative idea :D I enjoyed it a lot

Also the stuff happening in the background while I am just drawing away is kind of genius (and very funny :P). I feel like you could make an emotional story-based game in this way, if you wanted to. It might be an interesting way of telling a story

Heel erg goed gedaan! Zeker het meest unieke spel wat ik heb gespeeld van de jam tot nu toe ;)

WebWeaver by JPGFG 2025-10-07T16:31:00Z

This was a lot of fun! Trying to figure out what the best way to span your web is on limited space. I also really enjoyed the suddenly super intense music when 'the flies are coming' XD The one thing which was not very clear to me was what caused webs to release. I am guessing it is when there are too many flies on one web? I think some more indications of how strong a web is/under how much stress it is would have helped. But that is a really small nitpick :D

One other issue is that I did not get the end-of-level screen at some point when I failed a level (it was the first level where flies come from above). This meant I had to restart the game unfortunately

Mailbox Mania by Wuppos 2025-10-07T17:00:00Z

@timhugh Thanks a lot! I am happy you enjoyed it

@preef Thanks a lot for your constructive feedback! I can fully understand your struggles with the game. The letters indeed just disappear for gameplay reasons, but I like your idea of a rival picking them up instead. Lets go with that :D

@robin-schmitz I am happy you liked it! Thanks a lot for playing :) I agree that the time pickups are really strong for getting a high score. I now made a leaderboard on the gamepage, so lets see who can beat your score :D

Mailbox Mania by Wuppos 2025-10-08T17:08:38Z

Thank you all for playing! :D

@squashi, @ciph3rzer0 I fully agree that some way to see the car behind buildings would have been good to implement. It should be relatively easy to do with shaders I think, but I am not too comfortable with those (yet). Thanks a lot for the nice feedback :)

@binarydiv Yeah, it seems that more people are struggling to control the car. A bit chaotic steering was intended, but I think we overdid it XD I am happy you enjoyed the graphics and music

@t90 Haha, I am happy you enjoyed it even though you are 007 XD Some extra visualization of destruction would have definitely been fun! I was also thinking of destructible objects along the road, but unfortunately there was no time left to add those things (as always :P) Thanks a lot for your kind words!

@ave2brave Ah, yeah, I was wondering if the control scheme would be confusing to people, but we couldnt come up with anything that made more sense to us XD I am happy you enjoyed it though!

Mailbox Mania by Wuppos 2025-10-08T19:34:43Z

@evil23 I am sorry to hear you struggled! You are definitely not the only one, but I am happy you liked the visuals and polish :D

@pigeonic Thanks a lot for playing! You have been added to the leaderboard :) I am curious how you did the mail collecting, so I will definitely by checking out your game!

@the-default-team I am happy to hear that you liked it enough to put in the time to learn how to control the game :D Thanks a lot for playing and for your feedback

Mailbox Mania by Wuppos 2025-10-08T20:18:18Z

@vpro Thanks a lot for playing! I am very happy you enjoyed it :D The steering depending on window size I hadnt realized before :O I also cannot seem to reproduce it unfortunately. Are you playing the web build or did you download the windows version?

Mailbox Mania by Wuppos 2025-10-08T20:33:40Z

@vpro Ah okay, thats a relief :) Thanks a lot for coming back to me about that!

Mailbox Mania by Wuppos 2025-10-13T21:19:25Z

Thanks a lot for playing everyone :D

@zactyl Huh, getting your highscore on your first run is pretty unusual. Beginners luck I guess :D Yeah, I can see how you can get stuck behind those houses. I think the collisions need a bit of work, such that it is harder to get stuck like that. Thanks a lot for the feedback!

@kinnerk 29 is super good! That puts you on the first spot of the leader board after the two developers (who have a bit of an unfair advantage of course :P). Yeah, I see what you mean on the letter collect time. We were planning to have the background of the marker slowly deplete, but implemented the shrinking marker as a temporary solution >_< I am happy you enjoyed the game :D

@foursay Hi foursay! Yeah, controller support would have been really nice. We (or at least I) was actually inspired by a game called 'absolute drift', which does indeed have controller support and feels super nice to control. Perhaps we can add it in a post-jam version. I am very happy you enjoyed it :D

@aurora-bee 27 is a really good score! You are now on the leaderboard :D I see what you mean about the hitboxes. I kind of like the current implementation, because it becomes a bit more about precision and staying on the road. Although, it also seems that people have a much harder time controlling the car than we thought, so perhaps a fixed radius would have been better XD

I am sorry about the lagspike! I actually have the same problem on my laptop, but because I havent heard anyone else complain about it I thought it might just be my problem. Are you using firefox by any chance?

The 3D look of the van is done using a technique called 'sprite stacking'. It is super easy to implement and gives a really nice effect. I am happy you like it! :D

Ionfall by T90. 2025-10-08T13:35:54Z

This game really felt like it had a lot of depth lore wise. All the unexplained locations and characters give it a mysterious vibe which I really enjoyed :D The art was also very well done. Gameplay wise I was a little confused about my goals. It was also not super clear where the numbers at the top came from, or what the numbers below the turbines meant, but I figured this out after some time. I think a more clear goal and more feedback to the player would help this game a lot.

Really well done though! Very cool what you managed to make in a weekend :D

Glow below by robin_schmitz 2025-10-07T18:18:17Z

I enjoyed this a lot! Much more than I would have thought from the premise of the game. In the end, you are just going around a map collecting things. But the relaxing vibe, with the art and music, really helped make it more interesting. And, more importantly, the control scheme was super interesting! It was a bit tricky to get the hang of, but I had a lot of fun learning and just rowing around really enjoyable. The obstacles, such as the whirlpools and winds, where also fun to deal with. Really well done with this submission! :D

Aeternia by VPro 2025-10-08T17:32:24Z

I really enjoyed exploring the landscape and meeting the other people in this game. Unfortunately I could not find the last couple creatures to scan, so unfortunately I was not able to finish it :( I guess there was something to do with the meditation, but I could not figure it out. The art was really well done and I liked how intuitive the controls were. One small bug/issue I ran into was that the save file did not save the amount of money I had, or which items (such as the flashlight) I had already collected. Luckily that was not a big issue though :)

This was a great retro-feeling submission! Really well done :D

Pigeon Post Office by Pigeonescu 2025-10-08T19:56:38Z

I really liked your 'post by pigeon' take on mail delivery! That is very different from our game, even though we both made a game about collecting mail :D I also thought the art was super cool and vibrant. The village felt fun to explore just to see what art I could find. The gameplay itself was also fun, especially finding these mailboxes with 4 or more letters felt very exciting. I just thought that it went on for a bit too long. After a couple minutes I had kind of seen everything there was to see (I felt), and then I still had 7 minutes to go. In that case I think it would have been better to stop earlier and leave me wanting more :) Really well done though!

Loot Goblin by Ydindamin 2025-10-07T17:57:56Z

This was quite a bit of fun :D I really enjoyed making my way through the caves and having to find my way back to the hole once I collected enough loot. The different sizes of containers also made me feel very excited when I found one that could hold more stuff :O

I thought that it was really cool that there was a whole ecosystem going on in the caves, with the slimes and knights searching and fighting each other even when I did not do anything. It was really neat coming into a room with all these dead knights and knowing that that fight actually happened while I was playing.

If you still would like to improve the game, some small nitpicks from my side are that left clicking to pick up items was a bit janky for me. Sometimes it did not respond and I had to click multiple times, especially when I was holding a container. Also, sometimes the slimes blocked off a hallway and I could not pass them. Perhaps you could disable collision with the slimes?

Anyway, really solid submission for the jam! Well done :D

Digwit by Hymirth 2025-10-07T18:06:35Z

This was a super clever game idea! And executed really well too. Especially as you get deeper it gets very interesting, since you really have to dig around where bombs might be. And sometimes you can use logic to deduce whether a tile is safe, such that you dont have to go around (as long as you are correct of course, which I often wasnt :P). Perhaps there could be a reward for going down faster, such that you are forced to use deduction more? Just a thought.

Really well done! I loved the creativity :)

Witchlist by Provence apple 2025-10-08T13:57:51Z

I loved the vibe of this game! :D Especially the cute art and the cute music. The gameplay also fit this feeling really well. It was very relaxing to try to think of ways to make certain items, and then to stroll through the forest to try to find fitting items. I really loved the 'clever' combinations, such as how to make an eggplant, since I could puzzle those out myself (and feel very clever in the process :P). Other combinations, such as a wooden plank or stone tablet or baseball bat, felt a bit arbitrary to me. For these some extra guidance would have helped not getting stuck, as others have also mentioned.

But I also fully understand you can only do so much in a weekend and you guys did a really great job! I really enjoyed this one :D

Cursed Labyrinth by Melomaner 2025-10-07T16:49:48Z

This was a fun little game! I really enjoyed getting too greedy and getting too far into the cave, and then having to remember where I came from and rush back to the start. I was actually pretty happy with how well I was able to do it :D The cave was also very moody, with the mist and mysterious ghosts. Really well done :D

Dragons Hoard by Luna-Smol 2025-10-07T19:11:33Z

You made a really polished retro game here, and with your own engine, right? That is really empressive :O Everything felt very cohesive to the retro style, with the art, sound effects and also the gameplay. One small nitpick I have is that it was a bit unclear what was happening during fights due to the lack of feedback. I think I mostly understood due to playing other retro games before, but in the final fight with the knights I received way less damage than I thought I would.

That said, really well done! I enjoyed it a lot :D

Space Cleaner by Cahard 2025-10-08T14:41:59Z

This was really well done! Especially for a first game :O I loved the art. The saturated blue and orange on the dark background really made for a very pretty and cohesive style. I also really liked the parallax effect you gave to the stars :D The upgrades also felt meaningful. Maybe it would have been nice to have a 'finish the game' upgrade, such that there is a nice end to the experience :)

If I have to nitpick, I could say that it was a bit unclear to me whether I could fly on top of the planet. And I did not really feel the need to fly far away from my station. Perhaps the rewards could have been bigger the further you get, but it would be risky to do because of the fuel? And finally, I wish it was longer :P

Great submission! I really enjoyed it :D

soulp by Yorze 2025-10-18T17:43:55Z

The cover was what drew me to your game. It is really beautiful! Especially the choice of colors and the composition of it :D The game itself was also very good! When I started it was immediately clear what I had to collect and what I had to avoid. The character slowly getting larger was also a very clever way of increasing the difficulty over time :D

For a bit of feedback, I feel it might have been nice to have a bit more feedback whenever you collect a corrupted soul. Perhaps a different sound effect or a little screenshake would have made it more clear that lost some health. Also the spawning of the souls could maybe use a bit of work, because it felt a little unfair whenever one spanwed basically on top of me.

That said, I think you did a great job! Especially for a compo game :D

Meticulous collector by The default team 2025-10-08T20:14:13Z

I really enjoyed this! Your puzzle mechanics were so simple that I thought 'how are you ever going to make interesting puzzles with this', but you really made a couple that had me stumped for some time :D I think the puzzles were actually really clever little optimization problems, which were a lot of fun to figure out. The art and soothing music also fit the gameplay very well. Very good submission! I had a good time with this game :D

It looks like a really cool game, but unfortunately I cannot find the button to switch the game to English :( Am I just blind or did something go wrong?

biologist by ne40k 2025-10-08T17:14:17Z

This seems like a game which is not yet finished (please correct me if I am wrong). I think that is completely fine, but it might be nice to add a description so that people know what to expect :)

I liked the art though! And it was fun walking around to see what biomes I could discover :)

The Lighthouse by Iluvatar 2026-05-01T14:04:45Z

This is really impressive for a solo game in 72 hours! :O The pixel art is beautiful. The colours matched the vibe really well and the dithering made it feel old fashioned. My own art has mostly been separate sprites, but I would love to be able to draw beautiful scenes like you did here.

The sounds of the birds and the voice acting also all added to the spooky yet cosy vibe. Amazingly done! I enjoyed this a lot :D

Drowned by the Light by kazuo256 2026-05-01T15:49:27Z

This was cool! :D The rotating world is a very interesting take on platforming (makes me think of a game I made for another jam :P), though it does make me a bit nauseous. I guess this might have to do with my car sickness >_< I also think you made some interesting levels that really made use of these rotations.

The art was really nice, especially the splash art! That is really unique and draws you in. Very well done!

I Contact by gamebuilder 2026-05-01T16:14:29Z

This definitely felt like a game that has depth, but I just cannot seem to figure out what to do >_< I managed to find a key and go to the world of static, but then I just fade out there. However, seeing that other commenters have reached the end without brute forcing, I still respect the game. I think it is okay for a game to challenging. :)

I love the unique look of the game and I would love to play it further. Maybe I will come back later :) Really well done! :D

I am very intruiged by this game. Although, I am not sure it is a game, maybe more like an experience. It was very abstract and it was unclear what I was supposed to do. One time I finished the game with a black screen and the second time with a white screen, but I had no idea what I did different :/ I did enjoy trying to imagine what the cryptic messages that were being told to me could mean.

I guess we could try to figure out what this game means as a community of LD jammers :) As @graebor said, holding the holding the left mouse button before releasing made me progress to the stage that there was a timer ticking down, but to get the white-screen ending I had to go back to shorter pulses at some point. Not entirely sure when or how often though.

This was a lot of fun! The mixture of bullet hell with quick typing worked really well. I really felt the pressure to type quickly to avoid the balls XD

One small point of feedback is that it was not so clear to me that I had to pick the phone back up after getting hit. At first I thought there was a bug when I couldnt type anymore, but after rereading the description I figured it out. Also, it might be nice if there was a little delay between the opponents spawning and them throwing the ball. Now it felt a little unfair to get hit by a ball out of nowhere sometimes.

But those are both relatively small points. Really well done! :D

This was a really nice little platformer/action game :D I loved that there was a short story, with even a small puzzle to break it up. Also, the running back to your ship section at the end was a lot of fun! This game was just very varied, which was super cool.

It took me a little bit of time to understand that I could do a double jump (I was a little stuck at the beginning at first), but once I understood this it was all very clear. One other little problem I had with the platforming was that sometimes when I run off a ledge and I jump, I used my double jump without realizing. There is such a thing that people call 'coyote time' that you can look into to fix that if you want :) Other than that it felt great to play this game!

Really well done! I enjoyed this :D

This was fun! Am I right in thinking that the maze changes depending on whether or not you follow the music? If not, it defenitely felt that way to me :D I think this was a very nice way to do a maze game. It was way more interesting than just being lost in a maze until you find the exit. Well done!

The art was beautiful as always :D I also really loved the fairy tale/whimsical vibe this game had in every aspect, art, music, writing etc. Its also so cool that you managed/dared to do voice acting :O I should try at some point as well :)

The gameplay itself was a little confusing to me though. I was not so sure what the difference between the stars on the main menu was. I also understood that I had to collect different combinations of dream waves, but it was not so clear to me what a dream wave exactly was. In the end I figured out they were just all the float 'dreamy' waves (I guess I should have realized from that ... :p ), but some seemed to move very fast towards me such that they felt like enemies to avoid. This last point could just be my gamer brain though >_< Perhaps a bit more feedback on which combination a dream corresponded to would have been nice.

That being said, those points didnt take away from my appreciation of the game! This was a very unique and fun experience. Thanks a lot :D

Wow, this was incredibly unique! And also a lot of fun. This is a very unique way of experiencing a story. I was constantly jumping between reading what they are saying and then deciphering from their hand gestures whether they actually mean it or not. The text and gestures really complimented each other to make very interesting gameplay. The pause button was absolutely necessary though and I used it a lot :D

The art, music and overall vibe also matched with the gameplay beautifully well.

I really dont have that much feedback, other than that I accidentally pressed the replay button once. I was also expecting to choose the culprit at the end (I suspected the lady on the right :p), so I was a little sad the game just pushed me into an ending with one of them. Those are really minor nitpicks though.

Incredibly well done! This was amazing.

This was great! Such a good take on the theme and executed really well. The game has a very unsettling vibe, which is masterfully created with the mechanics, the sounds (the footsteps getting faster is such a great touch) and the visuals. It all works amazingly well together. One point of feedback I would have is that it is not so clear to me whether I am progressing towards something with the levels, or whether I will just keep getting new levels (are they procedural?). I also had a couple times that I immeditately got caught again after I died, because there was an enemy close to the spawnpoint. But those are both just nitpicks. Really well done :D

The art really looks lovely and the short video set up a spooky atmosphere. It is a shame that you didnt manage to complete the game, because I would have loved to play it :) As @khaotom suggested, I would also recommend the extra category!

Just to make sure, there was no game to play, right? Only the screenshots and the video of the WIP game?

I made it :D

At first I was very confused. I had no idea what any of the UI meant, or how I could know where to go, or how the ship controls worked. But slowly but surely I started to figure out each thing I saw on the screen, which was the most fun for me I think. I do think it helped that I played some other space games, so that I kind of intuitively knew how the ship controls worked :)

I think you did quite a lot with a little here, especially with the graphics. The art itself is very basic, but with all the post-processing you anyway managed to make a very atmospheric game. Of course the sounds and music also helped with this. Really well done!

I enjoyed this a lot! Great little game :D

While You Were Here by jpat 2026-04-29T20:50:47Z

I really loved this one! The art was rough, but super cohesive and cosy, which made it look super good all together! I also loved the silent birdsong and just the feeling of two buddies traversing the forest. The vibe was what drew me into this game :)

The puzzles were also really clever overall. My only problem was that at the last level, I did not know that line-of-sight was a game mechanic. I think we might have needed a couple more easier levels to get used to that interaction.

Other than that, really well done! This one I will remember for sure :)
