Wow Really Cool little combat experience. Close combat is not easy to make feel good, but this actually was very nice! Good job.

Wow Really Cool little combat experience. Close combat is not easy to make feel good, but this actually was very nice! Good job.
Fun little boss fight. Was able to beat it in 1min 15seconds after a few deaths against him. Tip for others, but there are health stored in the barrels! That helped a lot.
Nice work!
Not an easy game, but I love the graphics! Looks like a lot of love went into the making of the combat and the boss. Great job!
Quite good combat, but a bit hard. Maybe re-balance for timings should help. Still good job!
I really liked the combat mechanic — the fact that the boss has multiple types of attacks, each with its own animation, adds a lot. Speaking of this version, I enjoyed pretty much everything except the slightly slow response when trying to dodge, especially when you guess the attack direction wrong and the boss hits you before you can react.
The visuals nicely capture the style — even with the heavy pixelation, it still looks very expressive. I’d definitely be interested in checking out a full version.
Fun combat. Very nice art and animations. Combat was fair and telegraphed so you could react to it.
Nice game, impressive work on the boss patterns making it possible to anticipate the attacks. Also nice hit feedbacks! It may be just me but there was a noticeable delay between my click and the attack animation (0.5s I'd say) which made it a bit frustrating at times Managed to get him at my first try still, but it was a close call Cool art and sounds!
Charming! Focused and well executed. I beat the boss in 1m57 :)
Thank you all for playing! :D With all of you beating the boss in around a minute or two I wonder if I did not make the game to easy XD
This is the first time I am making a boss fight like this, so I really appreciate all the feedback!
@nordus Yeah, I had a really hard time balancing this game. I think for some it might be too hard and for some it might be too easy. Which timings do you think need rebalancing?
@jackshadow Hmm, there shouldnt be a delay when dodging I think :/ Is it not because the dodge is on cooldown? If not I will have to check that.
@justine-d I see what you mean about the delay in the attack animation! There are a couple of animation frames for the wind up of the sword swing, but maybe I should have just cut those out.
@wuppos Just give some more time between attacks maybe?
Nice game but quite hard for me :) Pixel art is very atmospheric.
Nice! I think you really struck a good balance between the amount of content and game polish. Didn't feel too hard to me, beat it on the first attempt (but lost on my second go, though). The boss's animations were really smooth! And it's always nice to see games made with smaller engines like Löve (and I'm saying this as a Unity user who cannot stand writing anything in Lua )
I liked this monster and its attacks, it was done wisely, it wasn't easy at first, but then I understood how to act. Thanks for this game!
Nicely done boss fight, the sounds and feedback are well designed! I feel like it would have been nice if you could move a little bit when attacking or maybe a little movement impulse at the time of attacking. I managed to do it in 34 seconds!

Ohh this was neat. Nice visuals and I appreciate that the boss has different attacks, even if the windup on some are a bit too fast to react to. I find the keyboard controls a bit wonky, so I used the mouse instead, and that too feels a bit odd since the attack/dodge is based on where the character is facing. I know that's a common thing in games and it adds a bit more complexity, so maybe it's just a personal preference. I liked this either way! I couldn't quite get as fast as the commenter before me but I tried!

It didn't take me long to realize I could just beat the boss by tanking damage because I did more damage to it than it did to me lol. Really nice art style though I would love to see some dungeon crawler rogue like in this style. The effects on the bosses moves were really detailed for what looks like a solo game jam.
Nice game! The art looks amazing! The gameplay though needs a bit of balancing. I had fun on my first try (I think boss attacks too often when on low hp, but it's ok), but as people said you could just tank him :)
My result :D

Love the art style. Nice bite sized game. The controls were smooth and responsive. Maybe I suck at these kind of games, but the boss's attacks were too fast for me to react.
@jnur Haha, it definitely takes some getting used to (and overcoming some frustrations) when switching from Unity to Love2D. But at the same time I really enjoyed it. I can recommend it :) Thanks a lot for playing and your kind words!
@roblaro I see what you mean! Now you are really glued to the ground when you attack. On the one hand I also kind of like this though, it makes attacking a little risky to do. But thanks a lot for the feedback! Your time is also super impressive :O You definitely get a spot on the scoreboard!
@vary Thanks a lot for your feedback! I fully agree with your feedback on the mouse controls, I should have made the character dash towards the cursor I guess. Thanks a lot for playing and congrats on your super fast time :O
@joyceisdrawing Ah, yeah that is a bit of an oversight I guess XD I didnt want to make the fight to hard, so I was a bit conservative with the boss's health :/ Thanks a lot for playing and your kind feedback :)
@smeljey Wow, you are at the top of the scoreboard with that time! Well done :O I agree with you that the final stage if a bit too much. I wanted a challenging finale, but this is a bit too much :)
I only got 56 seconds how did they get 31 seconds!!! Great game super simple, super fun :)
@jamesgames1000 I know right? Me myself also never defeated the boss that fast. 56s seconds is still really good though :) You deserve a spot on the scoreboard. Thanks a lot for playing! I am happy you enjoyed it
Really nice boss battle game, I am quite font of the animations ! I got 33 seconds, close to top 1 ! dddddddd.png
Fun game, I loved the pixel art aesthetic. The designs blends very well together. The music is also cool but I don't think it fits the boss fight !
I think the fight is fair seeing some 30s fights, but for me i found it a bit frustrating that attacking forces you to stand still whilethe boss can chain multiple attacks really close together.
Be overall it is very well done! I did 1m28 o/
Nice graphics and music! I think it would be more of a "boss fight" if you added more damage to the boss but more windows to hit. Right now it's more of a "who can out-damage who" thing since the boss does little damage and his attacks are often unreadable so it's more effective to just hit him and occasionally dodge. Anyway, it's a nice game! 12433432432432.png
Very cool pixel art! Really nice aesthetics. I often ran into the "Windows open some popup when you press Shift 5 times" thing and almost died because of that. :D Also I feel like the hit boxes of the boss attacks / bullets were too large, it was almost impossible to dodge many of them. Otherwise really cool though, well done!
@blackpulse Thanks a lot for playing and for the feedback! I fully agree about the music not fitting the gameplay. I am pretty new to making music, so I have a hard time to make music which provokes a specific feeling. Usually I just make something and hope it fits :/ Do you have any tips?
@byebye Thanks a lot for the nice feedback! I fully agree with your feedback. I think I still had too much of 'normal enemy' mindset while creating this. When I have time I might try to update the fight a bit to make it feel better :)
@fluffyou Ah, the windows sticky keys XD That sounds very annoying, but I hope it didnt spoil the game too much. (You could also use ctrl for the dash, which I didnt mention anywhere but also works.) Thanks a lot for your feedback and for playing!
Managed to beat the game on the first run in above 2 minutes, and during the second run under 2 minutes. Simple and quick game, the boss was challenging not too easy and not too difficult. I won't complain about the music, I always admire people who make music, art and code at the same time. I'm just a humble programmer and I owe a big one to my team mates during every game jam. Kudos for making this all on your own!
One more thing about the music - while it didn't fit the mood, it was still a nice thing to play in the background, it didn't get boring or anything during my playthrough. That's a good starting point
Really good game ! It would be cool to see a more complete version of it 😁
Screenshot_13.png A nice, well-made game. However, the controls really spoil the experience. The fact that I can't change the vector of movement during the animation of the hit creates a lot of discomfort
Great game, I really liked the graphics and the variety of boss attacks. I was able to win in 45 seconds. I see a problem with the balance of the game, that the player has too much health. I just go towards the boss and hit him, taking all the attacks. The dash can be used purely to sometimes dodge his attack close to him, so that he does not throw you back. But in general, the tactic of an absolutely straightforward tank attack works completely without problems. In any case, great job!
Solid, if short, little action game. The time spent on the boss sprite is noticeable, it looks great. Controls felt like they could use a bit of fine tuning, would get stuck in attack animation before the boss telegraphed anything, though it could be more of a "pattern learning" fight than a reaction-based fight. Also nice to see LOVE getting some use, this is the first one I've seen this jam I think.
Lovely art, and nice touch with the little tutorial level before the boss fight starts. :)
It looks great! A single, quite polished fight is a very fitting scope for a jam, good choice. I think it suffers from the game design side: The hitbox of the sword is weird, sometimes I'm right next to the boss and it misses, it lacks a more visible anticipation for the fire balls and other small things like that. I would have probably preferred if the boss attacks had more anticipation, but the player had much less health (that may be my taste only tho). Congrats on making a neat, complete game!
Looks great and a decent challenge, kept me coming back until I beat it. Forgot to note my time though!
Snipaste_2025-04-15_20-40-14.png I tried my best ;) really solid entry! Wish there's more skill to use and the fire ball is really annoying cause you don't have much prepared time for that but the game is coming together really good. I always want to make a boss rush entry and you have made my dream lol. Great job!
The dark souls like gameplay is not for me, I barely hit the first enemy. The graphics is really special though :)
The graphics are cool... after that I don't really know about the handling, I find it a bit stiff but maybe that's on purpose because that's the style that wants it...
