LD33 — You are the Monster

Escape From Twump Tower by 01010111 2015-09-13T16:43:00

Why are these soldiers shooting at me? Get out of my tower, you're fired!!

Seriously, fun game with cute graphics and great music. I did have a bit of trouble with getting stuck on and under things though.

A Shadow In The Night by tripleVisionGames 2015-08-25T17:01:00

Takes a few tries to get the hang of, but it's super fun when you do! Mua-hua-hua-hua! Love those sound effects!

I AM THE SUN by primaerfunktion 2015-08-25T09:22:00

Very atmospheric, beautiful graphics and audio. Could do with respawning a bit closer to the action.

Separated by rxi 2015-08-26T21:14:00

Poignant, but not much to do.

Goomba Simulator 2015 by LandoSystems 2015-08-26T08:27:00

Great story, and I love the little nods to the jam :)

Comic Scavenging Sasquatch! by xhunterko 2015-08-30T09:39:00

Cute, but the enemies aren't much of a threat.

First Person Giant Monster Game by Xanjos 2015-09-14T21:40:00

I like the way the rocks explode, looks great! Squishing the humans would be a bit more fun if the projectiles had a larger area of effect, and if they didn't just disappear when hit. Fun game though!

Everyday Misanthrope by Liz England 2015-09-03T21:06:00

Finally, a game that understands me!

Starvin' Sasquatch by GertJohnny 2015-08-27T14:28:00

Another sasquatch game! Very cute art style, and I really enjoyed stuffing all the food in my sack (I didn't stick to the list he he he).

A Bad Wolf King is Hard to Feed by McFunkypants 2015-09-14T17:28:00

This looks really cool, but the gameplay didn't really click for me. I got stuck in the castle thing where I probably wasn't supposed to be able to go, but it seemed as viable as anywhere else...

Anyway, I'd love to see a full game set in this world and with this art style, that much is superb.

Road To Hell by Hyoga-3D 2015-08-26T07:41:00

Kinda fun, interesting format and pretty graphics. Could use an on-screen display of the speed and distance.

The monster by mrcdk 2015-08-27T18:22:00

Funny stuff :) I like the rendered environments too.

Peace is a lie! by komjaur 2015-08-26T16:45:00

Fun when you have rockets, but when you run out everything is too hard to destroy. I blew when trying to collect more rockets a couple of times as well.

Moon Base Shootout by Unept 2015-09-04T08:21:00

Great concept, and great execution! Was there actually no audio, or was that just a problem on my end?

Moon Base Shootout by Unept 2015-09-04T08:25:00

Ah, got the audio working. It is solid. Could use some plaintive alien death sounds to really reinforce the monstrosity.

Clinical Trial by JayProg 2015-09-14T17:49:00

I showed those eggs who was boss. They won't try to harsh my buzz again any time soon!

Sucker Punch by Shaw 2015-09-14T17:01:00

He he, he's like a window wiper of DOOOM! Great fun :) Unfortunately I could only play the web version, not sure what I'm missing out on :(

Moonlight by amy742 2015-08-25T20:26:00

The best part is when the kids explode. Very satisfying.

Adula by conormn 2015-08-26T08:08:00

Super-cute art style, I love it! With a few more decision points added I think this could be a really engaging game.

Passengers by nerial 2015-08-25T09:51:00

That's some dark shit. I found myself reading everybody'd story on the first couple of trips, but then I stopped and was just trying to squeeze as much money out of them as possible, inured to their suffering. Truly, I am the monster :( Powerful stuff.

Only complaint is that the music starts to grate after a while.

Final Encounter by OccamsRazor 2015-08-25T02:13:00

Ha ha, love the concept! It's great fun too. I did find it a little slow moving, and it seems like the wizards need something to do when nobody needs healing, they kept healing themselves for 0.

Mornings of a Seventeen Year-Old Girl by Mike Mezhenin 2015-08-30T10:19:00

Ha ha, I didn't realise until I came here to rate that I'd been going out in an undershirt!

This game is tough. It seems like it would be impossible to solve all her problems in the time limit, but maybe that's the point. It's funny though, I like it.

Camp Starvation by Double Zero One Zero 2015-08-30T09:35:00

I sure did eat like a king! Somebody bashed my head in with a rock on day 10, but I totes had it coming.

My only criticism is that there's a bit too much to weigh up in the time before dinner, I would prefer to be able to send everybody that I want out for the day, then manually proceed to feeding everybody else.

Quarantine by BoskoSokolov 2015-08-25T08:11:00

Very fun, I'm already addicted :D

Consume by Rocketship 2015-08-25T09:36:00

Great visual effects and audio, gives it a very oppressive atmosphere.

Hope by commodoreKid 2015-08-26T11:40:00

Pretty and atmospheric, but not much content as noted. Could do with some SFX as well. I'd like to see what this could have been if it was finished.

Grave by uheartbeast 2015-08-26T07:49:00

Great graphics and animation, and satisfying gameplay.

1-800-Monsters by ponywolf 2015-09-14T17:15:00

Love it! Great learning curve, very addictive, and cute graphics. The only thing I think it needs is for the blocks to pop around obstacles if they are just one or two pixels off. Or maybe I should just not suck so much :P

This is NOT a scam! by Reccy 2015-09-13T16:35:00

I could totally do this for a living.

Otherworldly Stars by Sam Twidale 2015-09-03T21:16:00

I was a bit confused initially but once I figured out what was going on I quite enjoyed it. Very pretty skies.

T.H.E.Y by WuPex 2015-08-25T09:03:00

Very striking art style, but the controls make it difficult to play :(

Monster by SMASH BASH 2015-08-25T08:42:00

Very pretty and nice music, but not a lot to do and I didn't really understand why I was the monster.

Slavery Simulator 2015 by Sébastien Bernery 2015-08-30T10:02:00

Doesn't look like much, but it sure is compelling.

Bob's Valley by Dejvo 2015-08-25T08:49:00

Surprisingly tough, but fun and colourful. I enjoyed squishing the people as much as I enjoyed saving them anyway ;)

Sudden Peace by PizzaPortal 2015-08-25T08:55:00

Very stylish visuals and great sound design. And fun!

The Alchemist by sydan 2015-08-25T21:08:00

Very impressive visually, but the gameplay seems to be a bit repetitive and aimless. I'd love to see this expanded upon though.

The Old One by Chris Olsen 2015-08-26T08:48:00

Beautiful monster design and animation, and his lair is very atmospheric as well. It gets tough pretty quick!

Power Lich by rattower 2015-08-26T11:52:00

Simple but fun. I actually felt quite upset any time one of my zombies got killed >:(

Sly Slime - Revenge On All Players by reckhou 2015-08-25T09:27:00

Very pretty and fun. Bit hard to attack because of the projectile arc, but the fun power ups make up for it!

I am Death and Fire by derr 2015-08-25T20:57:00

Fun, but there doesn't seem to be a way to avoid most of the attacks. Even if there were, I think it would still be a bit frantic to be useful. Cathartic though!

Sasquatch Startler by mikekreein 2015-08-30T10:08:00

I'm not really sure what results in a scare vs dying. Could be a fun concept if there was an environment and the gameplay mechanics were a little clearer e.g. sneaking up behind someone startles them, being seen results in failure.

Ludum Dare 33: Monster by Valicitor 2015-08-26T21:38:00

Beautiful art style and animation! It's a shame there isn't a bit more to do.

Wild Flirting by bloomingbuds 2015-08-25T11:30:00

Sooo good, I love it!

Squatchin' by randomhuman 2015-08-25T01:41:00

@OccamsRazor D'oh! I noticed that but then forgot to do anything about it! I have brain fry. Thanks for the tip, fixed now.

Squatchin' by randomhuman 2015-08-25T01:42:00

@Wevel Thanks for the feedback :) I fixed the problem with the web player context menu (I hope...), sorry about that.

Squatchin' by randomhuman 2015-08-25T01:43:00

@BoskoSokolov Thanks very much :)

Squatchin' by randomhuman 2015-08-25T08:04:00

@dickpoelen Thanks! Originally it was WASD screen-relative movement, but it didn't really work for the attacking. I changed it up last minute and didn't get it quite right.

Squatchin' by randomhuman 2015-08-25T11:08:00

@peterthehe Thanks very much :) Being able to destroy the tents (and the fires, for that matter) was absolutely part of the original plan, but along with many other planned features I had to let it go as the deadline loomed :(

Squatchin' by randomhuman 2015-08-25T11:08:00

@Shaw Wow, thanks!

Squatchin' by randomhuman 2015-08-25T11:10:00

@Rocketship Thanks very much :)

Squatchin' by randomhuman 2015-08-31T11:46:00

Thank you all for your kind words and feedback. Taking some of the criticism I've received on board I've created a post-compo version of the game which is now available on gamejolt (linked above) and itch.io (http://randomhuman.itch.io/squatchin).

This includes the following changes:

* WASD based movement instead of mouse-look.
* Plugged the holes in the border (I hope).
* Added a camper-counter to the UI.
* Increased the number of campers on the first level, and ensured that they will be more evenly distributed.
* Added a new enemy type (you should start to see them from level 3 onwards).

I hope that improves the experience somewhat!

Outing with Frankie by SeaDads 2015-08-26T08:35:00

Fantastic concept, graphics, and gameplay, but particularly superb music and SFX. "Oh no Frankie not his face!" Ha ha ha ha! Nothing like a game that's as much fun to lose as it is to win!

Dreadwolf by PIN34PPLE 2015-08-30T11:12:00

It's hard to make attacks find their target, which unfortunately makes this game quite frustrating. If that were fixed I think it would be good fun, as it's got a sinister atmosphere.

Dude, Stop by Patomkin 2015-08-26T16:55:00

Great fun :) I didn't get the salt and pepper one though...

Pusher by mikelovesrobots3 2015-08-25T18:47:00

5/5, would push innocents into traffic again.

Monster - Your Worst Is Our Best by Ellian 2015-08-25T10:31:00

Great concept well executed.

Motherflipin' T-Rex! by mantis 2015-08-25T20:38:00

Smashy smashy! Great fun :)

How cookies ruined my life. by Suese 2015-08-27T13:25:00

Rockin' soundtrack, great fun :)

Chompy by GeorgeBroussard 2015-08-27T13:28:00

Better pack a lunch, you're going to be on level 8 for a while. You'll enjoy every frustrating minute of it though ;)

LD34 — Two Button Controls / Growing

Milgram by Kortuga 2016-01-02T16:00:00

Funny stuff, loved the voice acting and the art style.

Double Kick Heroes by blackmagic 2016-01-02T12:07:00

The visuals and audio are stunning, well done. However, the gameplay I found to just be a bit of a button mash. Is there any penalty to missing the beats? I just watched the zombies and hammered left and right as necessary. Still fun to play.

Hanami - Push-Up Farming by Beavl 2016-01-02T21:38:00

So hard. But so ridiculous that I can't help but like it :) The art and audio really work well together as well.

Learning to Dance by WetDesertRock 2015-12-20T20:31:00

Good story well told.

Agent Hooker by Phoenix849 2015-12-16T21:31:00

Fantastic fun, so polished. I think I'll be coming back to this one.

become a game developer in 60 seconds by unprompted 2015-12-20T12:46:00

Ha ha, brilliant idea! It was like doing the jam all over again!

St. Orchint's Orphanage by Double Zero One Zero 2015-12-20T21:13:00

These idle layabouts are going to lose us the war! Back to the mines you little shits!

Infinity Monkey Autocorrect by andyman404 2015-12-16T21:38:00

Weird stuff, I like it :)

Acrodog by dvdfu 2015-12-20T20:54:00

Brilliant idea, so fun and addictive. The only thing I think it needs is finer control over releasing each side of the platform - but that would probably require abandoning the two button controls! Excellent entry all-round anyway.

Left-leaning by tayl1r 2015-12-18T18:06:00

Simple but challenging. There's a good variation in the gameplay even with such a simple concept. Great entry.

Slash Quest by Big Green Pillow ft Mgaia 2015-12-18T14:49:00

Ha ha, that sword is so cute :) WEEEE! This game is brilliant in every respect.

Enliven by Patacorow 2016-01-03T00:24:00

Great game, I want to play more.

Robot Frost Eagle and Worm Big Rescue Adventure by sP0CkEr2 2016-01-02T15:07:00

Mmm, tasty humans. Fun game, but a touch frustrating with the big wide turns when there are so many things that need to be done.

Super Sky Golf by savethejets1 2015-12-17T17:23:00

Great idea, well executed. I suck at it, but I won't blame the game for that.

Bring joy to the world... with balloons! by cptalbertwesker 2015-12-22T17:43:00

I love the ambient sounds (actually all the sounds), and the gameplay is strangely soothing. Nice work.

Drone Racer by Anshul Goyal 2016-01-02T12:27:00

Feels good to buzz around. Super-challenging to get all the objectives within the time limit after the first level. I would love to have a city environment or something to fly around in. Fun game!

Breathe by Galvesmash 2015-12-19T14:35:00

Lovely feel to this game, and an interesting and challenging core mechanic.

The Last of Egg by ShuddaHaddaLottaFun 2016-01-02T16:11:00

Looks and sounds great, and a very funny idea, but it's a shame there isn't more to the gameplay.

Bonsai Growth Simulator by cjacobwade 2015-12-17T17:07:00

Pretty cool idea, nice chilled out mood.

You and your parasite by local minimum 2016-01-02T22:11:00

Claymation... Don't see that every day! Creepy as fuck too.

Great Nation by StuffBySpencer 2015-12-18T16:27:00

Ooops, I was deposed :(

Growth Industries by SteveSalmond 2015-12-19T15:58:00

Oh god the stress o.O Very slick game, well done :)

A years growth by BoaHeck_ArtGent 2016-01-02T15:24:00

I kinda want to live on this farm now.

FUN BUNNY SQUID MASTER by internetpaulicy 2015-12-15T22:14:00

Weeeeird, in a good way, and lovely art style, but the controls feel a little unnatural to me.

Growees by NickZangus 2015-12-18T18:45:00

Beautiful and challenging, with a good difficulty curve.

Winterland by Zknet 2016-01-02T23:53:00

Collision detection's a bit off, but it's a fun idea and controlling both bears at the same time is a challenge!

JUMPR by Supernaught 2015-12-19T18:09:00

Excellent game, but really hard.

Tree Life by Tooichi 2015-12-19T18:28:00

Nice graphics and mood, but not enough interactivity. It's got a cool pocket universe feel to it though.

Vine Racer by mactinite 2015-12-17T17:15:00

Fast past and addictive, I like it. I was going to praise the music especially, but I guess you didn't create it since audio is unrateable? Ah well, good choice anyway and a great game overall.

Ethereal by PixlWalkr 2015-12-17T18:00:00

Your Mac build doesn't work with the itch.io app because it is rar'd. Rars are bad for mac software anyway because they lose some of the file permissions and can't launch until you go fiddling around in their internals. You might want to just upload the .app file directly, they are already compressed.

Ethereal by PixlWalkr 2015-12-17T18:17:00

Very pretty, minimalist graphics, and great ambient music to go with them. I like it! I would for sure play a mobile port of this.

Get Huge by Lancey 2015-12-20T12:15:00

The growth is pretty funny :) Can't figure out how to time the punch at the end though, I couldn't get past level 2. Really needs some sound.

Longbeard by Joe Williamson 2016-01-02T23:15:00

I'm amazed that you got such a unique and tricksy mechanic working so well in such a short space of time, and with polished graphics to go with it. Fair play.

Aina by yahooda 2015-12-20T13:29:00

Cool idea, but I had some problems playing the mac and web builds. The scroll wheel didn't work in the web build and in the mac build the cursor was still active and kept giving control to the OS.

01 by suppi 2015-12-20T15:11:00

Great concept, but I think it only appeals to programmers. With a few additional features this would be a game I could play for hours. Still one of the most fun games I've played so far.

Ragnar The Village Defender by sandbaydev 2015-12-16T21:23:00

Bit hard to figure out what is going on, and very quiet, but the art is lovely.

Witchgarden Leafiosa by phi6 2016-01-02T13:37:00

Really great music and atmosphere, and the gameplay is solid. I did find the combination of cartoony sprites with painterly environments a little bit jarring, even though they were both excellent on their own. Great game overall.

The remainders of the 34 by Rodaja 2015-12-20T12:56:00

So pretty! I spent ages just looking at the title screen it was so well done. Gameplay is great too, if a little short.

Growing Ties by drludos 2015-12-21T16:42:00

I wish I coulf give you more than 5 stars for theme ;) Great game.

Finite Growth by Jeasonfire 2015-12-19T17:56:00

Ugh, there were filthy humans swarming on everything like locusts, it was disgusting. Excellent and accurate human simulator, well done. I like how the music changes subtly when famine sets in, very nice touch.

Let's Play Simulator 2016 by zulman 2015-12-21T16:33:00

Pretty cool idea. I was hopeless at figuring out what was being referenced though. Art is great, sounds are fun, and it all works well together. Good game!

Klodowski by SK16 Games 2015-12-20T18:56:00

"You can't go back" T_T

Parse The Sky by dustyroom 2015-12-16T17:21:00

Beautiful game, very stylish, awesome soundtrack. I found it a bit hard to control - I guess that's why there's a post-compo version. But, it did have a nice glidey feel nonetheless.

Ethereal by Atheistzilla 2016-01-03T12:53:00

That justification of the theme is kinda lame dude. The game looks and sounds great though.

Radical Revolver Recoil Rampage by AndreasL 2015-12-20T11:51:00

Apparently I am below average :( Super fun game though!

DUO by camlang 2015-12-20T11:13:00

Brilliant, very clever game and it's got a great minimalist look.

Bean Rider by dusho 2015-12-15T17:36:00

Hit detection's a bit off for the coins, but other than that a fun game. It's got the right feel for riding a giant bean-stalk!

Btw, I was able to fix my WebGL build by re-importing the problem sprites, not sure if that'll work for you.

Hakurei Shrine by sirono 2016-01-02T11:32:00

I'm not familiar with the referenced game, so that much is lost on me. The intro is cute and the game is kinda fun when you figure out what you are supposed to do.

On Tario by LeafThief 2015-12-17T17:44:00

Sooo stylish, the graphics and effects are amazing. The buildings feel like they have a real weight to them. But, I didn't find raising and lowering them compelling, and that mechanic did not make me feel connected to the story. I'd love to see a different game set in this world though, with art and audio this well done.

Day by Day by Maxi and The Gang 2016-01-03T12:34:00

Beautiful game - I love the sense of depth that the environment has. However, I can't find a way to progress beyond the second day. I've barked at everybody and pressed E on everybody, but it just won't let me sleep.

Eda by alpha_rats 2015-12-20T22:46:00

Nice chilled out vibe. I would have liked a bit more control over which direction new branches headed in, but the results were pretty anyway.

Griffin Card by uheartbeast 2015-12-20T21:33:00

Beautiful graphics and well polished, but the gameplay isn't really for me. Really needs some epic battle music.

Griffin Card by uheartbeast 2015-12-20T21:34:00

Beautiful art, and the dialogue is funny, but the gameplay isn't really for me. Really needs some epic battle music.

Sunder Farm by BudaDude 2015-12-17T10:34:00

Nice relaxing game. Until a rabbit tried to steal my carrots out from right under my nose!

Planeater by qristofer 2016-01-03T12:45:00

Fun game, very stylish graphics.

Star Warrior by spolsh 2016-01-03T00:09:00

Very stylish, but the gameplay is frustrating. The controls are overloaded unfortunately. It might work if you were consistently flying above the dunes, or if there were more controls (I know, theme...) Maybe even press AD to fire, hold to boost might work?

Kiwi Life by lordsavage 2016-01-02T11:44:00

Cute, but not much to do except scroll back and forth checking the traps. The walls don't seem to work as advertised.

Hero Feed Co. by SkullPixel 2015-12-15T22:33:00

Really difficult, despite the enemies being quite dumb. I do like the idea of luring them being your only means of offense though. Great art style and concept.

2ButtonsAdventure by Zyow 2015-12-18T16:08:00

Great graphics, and the idea of just going from one encounter to the next was kinda cool, but I didn't so much feel that I was playing the game as it was playing itself. Really needs some sound. Check out bfxr if you haven't already, you could whip up some appropriate sounds for this game in a matter of minutes.

Back on Earth by anael 2015-12-19T14:04:00

Beautiful game, I love the combination pixel/painterly art style, and the animations are gorgeously smooth. It ends a bit abruptly, but it left me wanting more so you definitely did something right!

Continental Breakfast by Brightstar 2015-12-20T13:14:00

Pretty funny idea, but not much to the gameplay. The menu system is more involved than the game! I'd like to help this guy yum up the whole universe though, he's awesome.

From the Deep by scorched 2016-01-02T13:11:00

Boy that last challenge is tough, but I'm glad I stuck with it. This game is very addictive and rewarding to play. I wasn't sure about the controls at first, but I came to appreciate that that was the challenge of the game, wrapping your head around this unusual control scheme and figuring out the rhythms required to overcome each obstacle. Very well done.

Garbage Can you escape? by Weloxux 2015-12-22T18:43:00

Garbage Can you escape? by Weloxux 2016-01-02T12:40:00

Fun game, love the music especially. The only criticism I have is that there is no visual feedback of the plant growing after the first few doses of water, but maybe that can't be helped.

Hear My Power Growing by Adreqi 2015-12-20T09:27:00

It's rewarding hearing the music become more intricate as you progress, and your weapons become sort of a light show as well. I think the difficulty curve is reversed though - it's very hard to get started, and becomes ridiculously easy after a couple of upgrades. Cool game overall.

Grow and Regrow by Mantlair 2015-12-20T19:16:00

Good gameplay. A few more levels would be awesome because I was getting really into it.

Button Simulator 2000 by wilsk 2016-01-02T14:18:00

Definitely needs some instructions front and centre. Once I finally figured out why the various systems were shutting down on me I found this quite compelling, and I love the realistic industrial control interface. Still can't get the crops to harvest though!

Gjallarhorn by NoWandStudios 2015-12-20T12:39:00

Greetings fellow Viking game developers! Fun game you've made here, good work!

WAR GROWTH by Trasevol_Dog 2016-01-02T13:58:00

Intense stuff! I love the effects, and I was really freaked out the first time the side buttons appeared!

IVY by TRAB 2015-12-17T10:58:00

Great concept and execution. Looks great, sounds great, and is quite challenging.

Blobitronica by crucknuk 2015-12-20T10:52:00

Fun, fast-paced game, I like it. It gives a good sense of growing massive!

Trippy!

No Going Left! by sebshady 2015-12-19T17:43:00

Interesting idea, fun game and cute intro. Good work!

Neo Oxygene by Jwatt 2015-12-20T20:04:00

Cool game, very unique, and it's got a great visual style and compelling gameplay.

Mon Démon et Moi by Spyboy 2016-01-02T22:35:00

I didn't really understand what was going on with the emotional responses (just like real life!), but the concept is intriguing, and the art style is really impressive. I would love to see this fleshed out a bit more.

Solstand by bloomingbuds 2016-01-02T17:43:00

Very beautiful and atmospheric game. It's a bit hard to figure out. I still don't understand everything that was happening, but I was eventually able to get to 20+ days. I think it needs a combination of more direct gameplay instructions and visual feedback on what is happening (e.g. if I lower the tide to collect my lobster pots and it doesn't add to my food, is it because I didn't wait long enough, or not lower the tide enough, or did they rot, or what?).

I enjoyed it though, it's pretty cool.

Downfall in Polarity by danielsann7 2015-12-15T22:26:00

Graphics are simple but nice, and the music is great, but you can kind of just coast through a lot of the first level, and where there is a challenge it involves deciding whether to change polarity while still half-way through an obstacle. I like the idea, but I think this game could have been improved if it was twitchier, and more positive about its collision detection.

Charge! by randomhuman 2015-12-15T14:59:00

@dusho Ha ha, all aboard the bandwagon!

I've tried a WebPlayer build as well and it has the same glitch, but white instead of black :S I might just remove the web link until I can figure out what's going on...

Charge! by randomhuman 2015-12-20T18:45:00

@SK16 Games Guaranteed 100% historically accurate ;)

Charge! by randomhuman 2015-12-20T18:48:00

Thanks all for the kind words and feedback. I think I might expand on this one a little bit over the next few months.

sometimes cubs grow by sergicollado 2015-12-19T16:10:00

Beautiful sound design and atmosphere, and kudos in particular on doing a voiceover. The art is very effective as well.

OSHIYA! PUSH! by inbetweengames 2016-01-02T14:55:00

I thoroughly failed to hit the beat, but I can still see that this is a fun and stylish game.

Klangwelt by retraffic 2015-12-18T16:20:00

I can't believe you made an online mode, that's awesome. It looks a bit discordant now though! The game is great, you can build a really nice ambient soundscape with it.

Susception by WolfkingW 2016-01-04T10:56:00

Pretty cool idea, and the graphics are great.

Unfortunately there are a few bugs and aspects of the gameplay that make it frustrating. After playing a while the pellets no longer entered my body, though I was able to fire them still. I couldn't travel too far from the cells without getting lost. And I would suggest making it possible to destroy the viruses rather than just knocking them away, otherwise I think being overrun quickly is inevitable.

With a few changes I would like to play more of this.

JetTeam by Firellon 2015-12-15T17:48:00

Tough game, especially when the up & down enemies come into it. I didn't get above five ships. I did want to keep playing though!

Trimmer Tycoon by Oski 2015-12-15T17:56:00

Great concept, and great fun! Kinda seems like the opposite of the theme though. Ah well, I enjoyed.

Accretion Disc by tgrehawi 2015-12-17T17:55:00

Tough, and somewhat luck based I think, but I kept coming back for more.

Super Scoot and the House of Ill Repute by Krafty 2016-01-02T12:49:00

OMG so hard. Fun and addictive though.

Re:sizer (VR Optional) by ObsessiveNerd 2016-01-03T00:38:00

Lacks polish, but there's clearly the nucleus of a great puzzle game here.

Punch Beat by AboLD 2016-01-03T13:06:00

I love the art, but there is something off about the music I think. I found it hard to distinguish between enemies that needed two hits and those that needed only one hit, so I was always throwing in extra punches (which I assume has combo consequences, though I couldn't really tell what was going on with the combos anyway). I felt like there wasn't enough opportunity to build up cool back and forth combos because the enemies mostly came in one at a time.

Overall, a fun, good-looking game with clear potential to be even better.

GuettoCraft by DanielParra 2015-12-19T14:41:00

Looks great, but I couldn't figure out how to do anything. I assume this is just some bug I'm encountering, so I won't rate.

Repulsion by DieBackStudios 2015-12-20T10:42:00

Excellent, fun and very stylish. I was a little confused about why I was getting a game over sometimes though. Sometimes you can let one through and other times you can't?

Chop Chop by MisterMortal 2015-12-19T18:15:00

A bit buggy, but the bugs are nearly as fun as the game :)

2 Roll by lawendt 2015-12-19T18:39:00

Nice :) Kind of had to rearrange my brain to play it. Love the art style as well.

Speed Sid by tribrain 2015-12-20T21:53:00

Nicely done. I particularly like the intro, it is very slick, and character animation and background designs. I didn't see the point of the scorpions at the end of each level though, since they couldn't hurt you.

PWANET PWOTECTOR by cilerba 2016-01-03T00:48:00

Fun game, looks and sounds great. Good job!

PlantBoy by siObyte 2015-12-20T15:33:00

Not much to the gameplay, but I definitely respect the ambition and graft required to put something together in assembly for retro hardware! And it looks good as well, with cute little animations.

Turbo Tram Drift by Drury 2016-01-02T17:05:00

Fucking excellent. Couldn't beat it though. I think it needs a lower time limit to start off with, and a bit more of a difficulty curve. I think I spent longer playing this than any other ludum dare game :)

As somebody else said I had to fiddle with some permissions to get the mac version to run. You can probably avoid this in the future by using standard zip instead of 7zip, or just not compressing the mac build at all.

Stickman Sam in the High Fly Sky by Simple Potential 2015-12-20T13:58:00

Pretty cool control scheme, I like the need to balance avoiding the birds and rebuilding your stamina. Fun game.

Fluffy Horde by publicidadeba 2015-12-23T22:58:00

The intro is hilarious and well acted, and it suits the game perfectly :) The game itself I found surprising in a couple of ways. Like, suddenly it's game over because I wasn't paying my soldiers, but there was nothing to suggest that was a thing... It's a fun game anyway. In fact, I'm going to go play it again right now.

GMO Overgrowth by Gyfis 2015-12-19T14:28:00

Great fun :) I didn't find much use for the dash though.

American Excess by lectric.monk 2015-12-18T11:29:00

Great audio, especially that intro song.I love the concept and art as well. I did struggle with the controls a bit though. I think it might have been enough to stick with the "Growth" theme, as it is a particularly unique and thoughtful implementation of that theme.

Fast West by Emkiusz 2016-01-02T23:55:00

Windows says it is malware... I hope that's not the case, but I can't risk it, sorry :(

Poultry Punt by diest 2016-01-03T12:04:00

Seems like it is mostly chance based, but it's still pretty thrilling when you hit a good run of bombs and the chicken just keeps going and going... I got to over 11000m one time!

Fun little game.

Deal With It by Desperados Studio 2015-12-19T17:22:00

This game was a lot of fun, I was playing for ages. There's definitely a lot of rough edges though, too much clicking required to do things and the prices are sometimes insane.

2-Eyes-Only Bar by Grey_Kruzhok 2016-01-02T22:24:00

No happy clients in my bar! I just killed everybody and drank the liquor myself. Cheers!

Tiny Tyrant by tyrants.not.found.team 2015-12-15T22:06:00

So polished, just a lovely experience. I love how each level introduces a new ridiculous element into the next one! No chance of me getting very far with that memory mechanic though.

GURU by TomenLuca 2015-12-16T22:09:00

Jaden Smith is kicking my ass.

GURU by TomenLuca 2015-12-17T10:50:00

I feel like my previous comment didn't express how much I like this game. It's fucking awesome, in every category.

Herballistic by Neoludo 2015-12-19T16:25:00

Great game, lovely minimalistic art style. Could be slightly more challenging I think. I especially like the variety of algorithmic trees :)

2 Growing Buttons ... by psypol 2016-01-04T10:36:00

That's pretty cool, well done.

LD35 — Shapeshift

One Letter Werewolf by tompudding 2016-04-26T15:04:00

Won't run for me on MacOS :( There's no error message or anything even when run from the command line

It could have been Two Colors by Phobos001 2016-05-02T11:16:00

I also wish the theme had been "Two Colours" :( I like where you went with this :)

MODE_SHIFT by RyanNielson 2016-04-21T19:50:00

Oh man, I suck at shmups. This was solid though, I liked it.

Cyan by rxi 2016-04-19T19:02:00

Excellent. I can't believe you put together something this polished in two days!

Almost Robot by Dyn 2016-04-22T08:54:00

I love the idea and the art is great, but I kept getting stuck on stuff and getting hit and dying without any feedback. I think it would be better zoomed out a bit more so I could see what was coming up, and with a few tweaks to the collision detection.

Changeling Infiltration Simulator by ProjectX593 2016-04-26T14:57:00

Really compelling gameplay, I was hooked. Only problem is the NPCs have perfect, 180 degree long-range vision, which is both implausible and frustrating. Great game though, looks great and has a variety of increasingly difficult challenges.

Polygonal by NightShadow0 2016-04-26T14:26:00

Mmmm, very moreish :) Those direction changes really messed with my head. Overall a very fun, stylish and well tied together game.

SHAPE.SHIFT() by Xanjos 2016-04-19T18:49:00

The flashy visuals are great, and the gameplay is compelling. I feel like the only thing missing is a more gradual difficulty curve. I think if it had that this game would really suck you in and give you a strong sense of achievement as you progressed.

Lucy's Adventure by TP2k 2016-05-07T13:55:00

Really good gameplay here. I think what I like the most about this game is how each shape provides both an ability and a weakness, and this is used really well when the square transform tiles are used as a barrier, for example.

Spellbound by Almax27 2016-04-26T14:37:00

Pretty cool once you get into it, it's almost like a rhythm game! There is a bit of a problem with the enemies being able to attack while your attack is in progress, which is a bit unfair I think. Interesting idea though, and well executed otherwise.

Altered Bunny by SteveSalmond 2016-04-24T19:24:00

Great entry! The art in particular is really impressive. My only criticism is that I think the zoom could have gone a bit further, it didn't really give me a sense of the room next door which I assume was the intention.

Moveless Chess by Beavl 2016-05-01T22:09:00

I feel like I should go back over all my previous ratings and knock a star off "innovation", because this is kinda blowing my mind... It's a shame you didn't get more levels done for the jam version (I can relate!), but you definitely made a good start.

Bitten by elliottd 2016-05-09T07:59:00

Good start for sure. That music really heightens the experience and the wolf animations are excellent. You've described all the issues yourself already, but I can definitely see potential in this.

SandShifter by nesis 2016-04-24T16:50:00

Really great mechanic, and I love the way all the text is part of the world. I wish there were more levels, I was just getting into it (though I'm hardly one to talk in that regard :P)

Fast Dungeon by Andreas Brandt 2016-05-01T20:32:00

Amazing art and animation, and the gameplay is addictive despite a few issues with the controls. I also really like how the music goes tinny on the continue screen; just a small thing, but it feels really classy :)

Perspective by Jeasonfire 2016-04-23T22:03:00

Really great concept and gameplay, and the graphics are impressively stylish for something so minimalistic.

Harvest Meadow Madness by joekinley 2016-04-23T16:54:00

Pew pew pew pew!! He he. Punishing, but fun.

Stoopid Robats by Gravedrinker 2016-04-28T17:36:00

I have to say I have played basically this game a few times already this jam, but this one adds a few elements which make it stand out - that you are a character rather than just a shape, obstacles other than the ones you must shape-shift through, and the "Skull Breaker", which is quite satisfying and adds a bit of variety. Good job!

MURDERSHIFTERS by Chaoclypse 2016-04-26T20:00:00

Challenging. I think I did more damage than the murdershifter! Interesting concept and very fun game, and I love the little wobbly sprites!

I'm Scree! by Jimjam 2016-05-07T18:59:00

Really good, very satisfying to splat the humans and the art is amazing.

Greenwood P.I. by JoshDBB 2016-04-22T08:23:00

It's a shame the story ends so abruptly, but what is there is fun and really well written. The visual style is great as well.

Sheepshifter by merzlot 2016-04-19T20:51:00

Confusing initially, but fun when you get the hang of it. Nice art style too. I like the set of unlockable goals and modifiers.

Figment by CaptainPilot 2016-05-02T19:32:00

Great puzzles, very satisfying. I had a lot of fun, and the art is great as well.

The Mind of Marlo by rodobodolfo 2016-05-09T11:13:00

@rodobodolfo He said there was no last letter, but before that he said ROD. I think? Was a while ago I played it. You trying to make me play it through again? ;) I already gave you all of the stars, I have no more stars to give!

Shift;:. by Anikki 2016-04-24T17:06:00

Very slick and polished feeling game. Every event in it felt very satisfying, which I think was down to the audio. Nicely done!

Werewolf Airline Simulator 2016 by Pestel Crew 2016-04-26T18:28:00

Great fun, and a great aesthetic :)

The Black Crystal by Horsed 2016-04-20T12:48:00

The impressive and unique graphics combine with the harsh sound effects to create a really oppressive and desolate atmosphere. Very well done, I love it.

Hide and Squeak by MrDave 2016-05-01T09:33:00

Great sound effects! This game is fun and gets challenging fast.

Frogurt Cave Adventure by sararyCow 2016-04-23T17:26:00

There's a few frustrating problems - for example it's hard to punch enemies as the mouse without also getting hit yourself - and the graphics are rough - but, it is a really good concept, and fun to play. I got to the boss and punched him, but then I got sucked into him and up to the top of his head, and couldn't do anything.

Sheepshifter by raredropgames 2016-04-19T21:05:00

Funny game, and quite tricky! It's a bit let down by the lack of audio. Some snarling and chomping noises and a transition between sedate and aggressive music would really make this pop. Great job on the graphics and gameplay though!

SUBJECT 26 by MSiddeek 2016-04-21T22:10:00

Really great gameplay and progression, and the art style and music work really well together to create a haunting atmosphere. Well done!

Revamp by tayl1r 2016-04-30T15:20:00

Way too hard for me! Really great art and animation though.

Side Effects by The Mad Strauss 2016-04-26T19:49:00

Fun and satisfying gameplay, and the premise and dialogue are very funny as well. I didn't really get the "bullet time" thing until I read the comments, and it seems like a lot of people were in the same boat, so maybe that was ill-advised. But, I had a blast anyway!

Private Tom, Dick, or Harry by randomhuman 2016-05-02T15:47:00

@CaptainPilot You should be able to click anywhere to advance at that point. But, I probably should have made an explicit "continue" button, same as on the failure dialog. Thanks for the feedback!

Little Big Robot by tsedate 2016-05-07T11:25:00

Found it pretty tough until I discovered the double-jump, after that I enjoyed it a lot. That transition to 3D is pretty wild!

The Maitre D by SeaDads 2016-04-19T20:28:00

Fantastique! I couldn't believe there were so many levels, and all so well designed... Great game!

The Great Biohazard Escape by axoona 2016-05-02T11:09:00

Nicely done, the puzzle solutions are very logical and well thought out. The character's motivation is a bit weird though.

Platformery by mhlbrothers 2016-05-09T09:05:00

This sure gets challenging! The movement feels a little unusual for a platformer, but once you get used to it it works well and the game is a lot of fun in an infuriating "just one more try" kind of way!

No Turning Back by tgrehawi 2016-04-24T18:54:00

Plays well, looks great, very stylish. I would definitely like to play more.

Cliff Shift by Drury 2016-04-23T17:37:00

Fun game, and very nice looking graphics.

Son of God: The First Transmorpher by Gyfis 2016-04-19T18:35:00

Great looking game, and fun. Definitely seems innovative compared to most runner games.

Party at the Knightclub by Elisée and friends 2016-05-07T22:18:00

Funny stuff :) It's a shame it comes to such an abrupt end. What's there is great though, sound, graphics, writing, all excellent.

Pretend by davor10105 2016-05-01T22:01:00

The controls can be a bit unresponsive at times - the bird flapping in particular is frustrating because it can only be done at a long interval. Despite that, the gameplay is compelling and challenging. The art is also very stylish. I'm glad I persevered to the end.

Nyamo's Adventure by DDRKirby(ISQ) 2016-05-06T19:53:00

Bloody brilliant.

CastleShift by JefePapaya 2016-04-22T15:22:00

Nice graphics. I especially like the damage progression! However, I feel like the gameplay is missing some recourse if the enemy gets past you (you're castle is likely to be gone before you can react), and I don't really understand where shapeshifting the rocks comes in...

I won a couple of times, once because the AI got confused and drove a rock into his castle, and once by following concalf's advice!

Exhuman by Arvydas 2016-04-30T18:20:00

It's quite hard to get a toehold in this game. My strategy was to grind the spawn point in the first area (dying repeatedly) until I had enough scrap for three or four chests, then do a full run on it. I can't even imagine playing it in the roguelike mode. But it is fun when you get the hang of it, and the graphics are really good looking, especially that second level (didn't make it to the third).

Oops! My Dear is a Deer by Remdiky 2016-04-27T21:19:00

She wasn't a deer, she was a chair! I think... I was kind of shooting everything...

Extanation by Fake Unicorn 2016-04-23T18:38:00

Great art style, I love it! I got to control two enemies, but neither were in any position to do anything unfortunately. Then I got to the top of the building and there didn't seem to be a way to proceed? Good overall anyway, aside from a few problems that others have mentioned.

I Don't Trust This Food, Man by Jack_SGS 2016-05-09T08:15:00

That donut guy, oh man... This game is great. It's interesting that despite only having one level, some of the trusted foods are much harder than the others, so each time you retry it's like playing a different level. But it's tough to get that gold even with the easier foods! I had to settle for silver :(

Redshift by Echopixel 2016-04-24T16:38:00

It's a shame you didn't get to implement everything you wanted, but what's there is solid. I look forward to your entry to LD36!

Shapegrammer by APantaloni 2016-05-01T16:25:00

Really clever idea, and extremely polished. I'll never reach the lofty heights of that leaderboard though...

Roamin' Hordes by Imperial Unit 2016-05-07T19:22:00

Cool idea, and the graphics are great. However, I didn't get a lot out of the main mechanic. I pretty much just spread out my archers before I started and then let it run. There's a few things that I assume are bugs that make it a bit unbalanced. On the top, left and right the archers wiped out almost everything in one volley. On the bottom,, they never fired a shot. It crashed on the fifth round in both the WebGL version and the Mac OS version.

Despite all that, I quite enjoyed myself. The game has an appropriately epic feel.

Pluto's Tears by kestrelgames 2016-04-21T17:30:00

Cute and really fun, good job!

The Other Woman by Nesferjo 2016-05-01T16:51:00

Clever idea, and well executed. It looks and sounds great (I think I used some of the same music in my game, he he), and I like the progression of difficulty by removing more details each time, nicely done.

LD36 — Ancient Technology

No Mario's Sky by eigenbom 2016-08-31T13:51:00

The character controller is a bit off, but I absolutely love the concept, and the variations in the planets, goombas and music. And gravity! Low gravity mario may be my favourite thing ever :3

Emily Morrison's Garden by Ludipe 2016-08-30T13:26:00

Great idea and art style, but even after 3 plays I still haven't gotten the hang of it!

Doodle Royale by A.W. Apps 2016-09-02T14:04:00

I love the cute doodly graphics and the wobbly animations. I made it to wave 5 but was overcome by hairballs!

No Robot's Sky by juaxix 2016-09-01T23:40:00

I could only play the WebGL version unfortunately, so I guess I wasn't seeing this at its best. Any chance of a MacOS build?

No Robot's Sky by juaxix 2016-09-02T12:18:00

@juaxix A much better experience, thank you! I think what @mitya1234 is saying is that the aiming should be done with the mouse, rather than the current auto aiming that is there, it would just up the challenge a bit. The other thing it needs is a UI showing your remaining health, because I had no idea how well or badly I was doing! It's a fun, good looking game anyway.

105.2fm by Verz 2016-09-01T21:44:00

Strummed my uke, shot some freaks, a good day out! My only criticism is that the gun at the end could have used some animation and a muzzle flash - it was more impactful during the course of the game when it was smashcutting to black. But yeah, an interesting, meditative experience overall, with excellent art and sound.

Pyramid Construction Simulator 2016 by kostik1337 2016-09-02T12:25:00

I built an impressive monument to my god-king, but failed to squish any peasants in the process :( Great game, I like the low poly look and the music is perfect, well done!

Anechoic Chamber by TheLaw 2016-08-30T17:37:00

Nice story, but not a lot of interactivity. I would really like to experience an anechoic chamber myself :)

Stoneheart by raspofabs 2016-08-30T13:51:00

Oh my, so gooood. The puzzles are really well thought out, and I like that they often seem to suggest an obvious solution initially that turns out to be wrong. Good work!

RAM by Evilperson77 2016-08-31T14:21:00

It was sometimes a little unclear why I was dying, but the gameplay is quite addictive. The attack was very satisfying when it connected :) The music was great as well.

Cave Man's Sky by 01010111 2016-09-01T23:54:00

That is a very juicy game alright! This mechanic is way beyond my hand eye coordination abilities, but the sense of speed was satisfying enough on its own!

Orgog's Prison by Fib 2016-08-30T13:11:00

It would be nice to be able to move diagonally, and I also had issues with getting caught on things and not being able to get through doors. Fun though! Hrrrrruuugh!

Spear the sun by lightsoda 2016-09-01T21:52:00

Looks and sounds great, but it seems to be impossible to lose. A lot of the levels there's no challenge to at all. I can imagine it working quite well if there was a limited number of arrows, and maybe if you had to hit different things in sequence to win or something.

JUKE by TagliatL 2016-09-01T10:36:00

Sweet little puzzle game! The only thing missing is music, that would really bump it up a notch. The level design was good, and introduced new mechanics well, but I might have liked to see more puzzles with paths on two or three different planes - that was sort of hinted at at the beginning but I don't think it really came into play later.

Good stuff overall!

The Huckster by MrBrenan 2016-08-30T12:27:00

Top notch music and narration! The controls were a bit slidey, but a great game overall.

The Operator by Gipzo 2016-09-02T13:41:00

Really great! It's hard at the beginning and becomes even tougher when you have to look up the numbers in the phonebook! Very polished and stylish.

Will Willis and the Temple of Hacha'Kyum by Oddly Shaped Pixels 2016-08-31T13:14:00

If I could add one thing it would be to be able to climb up and down the green stuff - some of the jumps are very unforgiving if you can't get into just the right spot. Otherwise it's solid mechanically, and the art and music are fantastic - very atmospheric!

Bullet Reality by Frump 2016-09-01T23:36:00

Pretty fun! I liked the choice of flight modes. It could use some sound effects, but the music was good and meant it avoided being completely silent.

ARMED N' READY!! by djdudes100 2016-09-01T23:48:00

Pretty buggy. I could only win most battles by cheating, because you can spawn infinite archers - only crossbow guys count towards your limit. I don't really see what legitimate strategy there was otherwise. The voice acting was fun though!

Jurassic Ark by Headmade 2016-08-31T13:26:00

Short but fun. The intro is great, especially the dinosaur speech sound! I have it stuck in my head now.

Old Man's Sky by Geared Games 2016-09-02T00:31:00

The comments on all your discoveries are pretty funny. Not the best NMS parody I've played this jam, but it fit the theme much better than the other one.

The Language of the Gods by ladybenko 2016-09-02T00:12:00

Very pretty and great music - I would have liked to have seen where this was going!

@steph88 Thanks Steph, I have added my game there.

@TheLaw Sorry about that oversight - the post-jam version includes a 32 bit build. I can maybe do a build of the original jam version tomorrow.

Write Only by randomhuman 2016-08-31T01:28:00

@leondryaso Thanks very much :) I've just released a post-jam version that I hope tones down the difficulty a bit, if you're interested in knowing if I've succeeded in that.

Write Only by randomhuman 2016-08-31T01:31:00

@Shatter Point Studios Thanks very much. I think the gameplay was going in the right direction, but I didn't have any time to balance it unfortunately. The post-jam version includes some health pickups and also includes a few other tweaks to reduce the difficulty, if you want to give that a go.

Write Only by randomhuman 2016-08-31T01:37:00

@Headmade Thanks for the feedback. I hadn't actually considered regenerating health, I will have to give that some thought... What I had in mind for a game I want to work on with this combat style was in inventory where you can carry health packs around with you, but for the post-jam version I just put pickups in the world that apply health immediately. Grenades are definitely something I would want to add - and maybe some melee for if you were able to sneak up close enough!

Write Only by randomhuman 2016-08-31T13:54:00

@Avon I would really have liked the enemy AI to be more dynamic - pushing forward, falling back, trying to flank you and stuff. But, no time, had to go with something simple :(

Thanks for the feedback! I'm glad to hear the post-jam version is a bit more balanced!

Write Only by randomhuman 2016-08-31T14:07:00

@mitya1234 Is there a reason given? What version of OSX are you on? Both versions start fine for me on Yosemite (10.10.5), which is what it was developed on, but I haven't been able to test it on anything else.

@Ludipe It does actually scroll a bit in the direction you're facing, but I guess maybe not enough? Maybe what I should have done was have it scroll a certain amount when running, and a bit further when aiming. However, I have been thinking that it should be more zoomed out altogether, so you'd be able to see enemies from further away anyway.

Thanks for the feedback, glad you enjoyed it!

@mde Yes I would say I did, and that comparison is quite a compliment! I was really impressed with that games design, use of colour, and the fluidity of its animation, and I learned a lot from it, though I think I am pretty far from achieving that standard.

Write Only by randomhuman 2016-09-04T11:45:00

Hammer Stone by 9.ar7k 2016-09-02T23:40:00

Really great idea but it took me ages to figure out what was going on. I guess I'm a bit slow :P I also found it quite difficult to keep track of whether I was ok to jump a chasm or ready to attack. The art is really great, and the music is great too.

The Mighty Stick by mitya1234 2016-08-31T22:47:00

Very pretty and atmospheric, I love the feeling of being on a miniature world.

We Are Here To Help by Frederika and Patrick 2016-09-07T12:23:00

I really like this "interstellar scouts" concept you've come up with, and the ineptitude of the aliens is fun. It's a real reversal of the usual (sincere) portrayal of ancient aliens helping an inexplicably incapable human civilisation move the big rocks around, which I've always found insulting.

So, fun game! The big crash noise scared the shit out of me though, and it could use some music.

LD38 — A Small World

A Bloody Small World by blinry 2017-05-02T15:39:02Z

So THAT's how it works! Great game, it feels really good zooming through the body on an urgent oxygen delivery mission. My class skived off early though, and my human died shortly after I beat the game. Stay in school, kids.

My Very Own World by Flipsy 2017-05-02T15:20:55Z

The Mac build doesn't seem to work, or I'm not sure how to open it...

My Very Own World by Flipsy 2017-05-03T21:13:01Z

@flipsy It's a 2014 MacBook Pro, OS version 10.12.4. I just tried downloading a fresh copy, and unzipped it as you say, but when I try to run it says it is damaged and can't be opened. I have seen things like this happen before when apps are rar'd and the permissions within the package are messed up, but that all looks fine in this case as far as I can tell... I don't really know much about this flash player bundling...

My Very Own World by Flipsy 2017-05-03T21:32:06Z

@flipsy Ok I found a way to play it. I downloaded the flash version and embedded it in an html page, and I was able to run it in my browser then. That's a really colourful and fun story! I was a bit surprised by the arrival of the asteroids, and I think they came a bit too thick and fast at times, but it was a very enjoyable experience overall. I especially liked seeing my dance performed by a big crowd!

Cryofailure by Neon 2017-05-19T16:57:02Z

Some nice humorous touches in there! The zero gravity environment looks like a lot of fun to play around in.

Star Traveller by SecondDimension 2017-05-02T20:06:49Z

Really lovely experience, well done.

Mediator by randomhuman 2017-05-04T13:40:16Z

@catarein Thanks for the feedback! I'm not sure if I understand the problem you're describing with the browser version, but I've changed the dimensions in gamejolt to be a tighter fit to the game, so maybe that will fix it? The options screen I probably forgot to reactivate before doing the build, I had it disabled to work on stuff underneath it - oops!

I never use black for space these days. It looks so much more interesting if you use a really really dark shade of another colour - any colour really, whatever works with your palette! It's nice to see somebody else agrees with me ;)

Mediator by randomhuman 2017-05-04T13:49:47Z

@tony-godfrey Thanks for the feedback! Sticky controls eh? Could it be this Edge bug maybe? https://developer.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-edge/platform/issues/9021586/

I don't have that browser to try it out in, but I will maybe try to include some mouse control alternative in any future updates.

@navot Would that be... gameplay? ;) Thank you for your kind words!

Feather Fighter by Ellian 2017-05-12T20:40:38Z

I really dig the art, music and sound, but I found it kind of hard to play. I think the main problem for me was not being able to move while aiming up - and I was almost always aiming up! So I was just constantly stopping and repositioning. And if you end up on one of the lower platforms you basically just have to wait until the enemies fly over you. It's a good concept though, and fun overall!

Feather Fighter by Ellian 2017-05-17T16:47:21Z

@silkworm-sweatshop Oh! I will definitely try this again then and see if I can figure out what I was doing wrong!

Monochrome Perspectives by Funkensteins Monster 2017-05-18T21:59:30Z

I really like the direction this was going - the art and music especially were really nice. Unfortunately I kept getting stuck when going into a particular room so I did not get very far. Some of the rooms seem quite punishingly hard as well. I would definitely like to play a version of this after a bit more development, if you decide to take it further.

Fancy meeting you here by Local Minimum 2017-05-09T22:23:03Z

Appropriately horrifying. I really liked the art, the audio, and the random phrase generator that produced some weird stuff. I found the space-mouth game very hard to control though - too slow and spinny, and no clear indication of which way is forwards!

I really like your interpretation of the theme as well. It is not one that I have seen many people tackle.

Six Degrees of Separation Between Me and the Party by axoona 2017-05-01T14:50:18Z

I like this take on the theme, it seems to me that it has multiple dimensions :) Really great art, music and dialogue. I was only able to find two of the endings, neither of which were me making friends with Rockin' Dave.

SUPER METROARIO by puppetmaster 2017-05-02T18:24:58Z

I guess I didn't read the description properly before I started, because the zooming in on Mario's head really took me by surprise! This was a really neat idea and I found the exploration compelling, but it is let down by the jump physics and slow, slippy movement. I got into the "thank you" room after only having collected two items. I would be eager to start again from the start if the movement was better.

Pity About Earth... by mwcz 2017-05-12T14:55:32Z

Phew, that's intense! I would prefer that the missiles just go in a direction until they hit something, as they are I did not find them very useful. Great game though, very satisfying to deflect a big wave of asteroids, and that soundtrack is amazing!

Small Steps by kurai 2017-05-12T15:32:16Z

A lovely piece of interactive art, I like it a lot. The characters are amazingly distinct and fleshed out despite the brief glimpses we get of them. I would like to have some plot tie them together in the end, but it's definitely something I can appreciate for what it is.

Interplanetary Billiards by benjamin-l 2017-05-08T21:06:39Z

That's really fun, and I love the aesthetic. My high score was 14000 I think. I would have gotten higher but one stubborn planet skipped past the black hole twice in a row!

Hibernaculum by redpanda 2017-05-02T15:15:43Z

The rotation reset is a bit finicky. Preferable I think would be if it just said "eh, close enough", and put you where you were trying to get to, even if your feet are not entirely above the box or whatever. Other than that minor annoyance, however, this is a really excellent game. Great concept, great art style and graphics, and great music. I really wanted to play a few more levels!

Moon Dozer by sararyCow 2017-05-02T17:51:17Z

Smalltrek by impbox 2017-05-01T12:02:17Z

Everything about this game is amazing. Fun parody, great art, excellent music, and an amount of compelling gameplay that would be impressive for a jam entry, never mind a compo one.:thumbsup:

Small World Mining Company by paulhocker 2017-05-17T20:18:50Z

I don't like that the enemy movements are so unpredictable (so it seemed to me anyway!) with no way to combat them. It seemed like it was just luck whether you ran into them or managed to get past them on some of the tighter areas of the levels. I really liked the game otherwise though. Something about navigating the cart was very satisfying, as was hauling things back to the ship, and the art was really cute.

Small World Mining Company by paulhocker 2017-05-17T20:19:00Z

*Edit* Oops, sorry for the duplicate!

Come on, barbarian! by uchiro 2017-05-01T12:21:25Z

Fun stuff, really great art and music! My only criticism is that dying and killing both kind of lack impact a bit - they could do with a substantial sound effect or something. It's funny seeing them being dragged up though :)

Three of you. by BitOfGold 2017-05-02T14:43:43Z

Really nice art style! It's a shame about the lack of sound and music. I'm not sure what my two friends contributed either except to get in my way when I accidentally tried to go between two obstacles without enough space between them. Were you planning to make them switchable or something?

It's a Small World by aviv871 2017-05-01T18:07:01Z

STOP OFFERING ME HATS!!!

No, great idea! I found the screen being split in two very satisfying, but I couldn't get my brain or fingers to cooperate with the four-way split screen. But, that's a me problem...

@aviv871 Nice, thanks for sharing that!

Game of Worlds by Shurty 2017-05-02T14:23:10Z

There's a bit of a flaw in this game's design in that once you find the exit you can just hang out there and go to it as soon as the sun sets. The idea of a day night cycle where you prepare during the day is cool though, as is the idea of collecting "friends" to use as bait! The art and music are really nice as well.

A World In Her Eye by OrbitalBlueprint 2017-05-01T18:30:34Z

What a lovely little story! Sound, music, art, all excellent and atmospheric. I'm not sure the real-time aspect adds much except to make everything feel rushed. Maybe that was the point? To reinforce the fleeting nature of the encounter?

Alone by mhaton 2017-05-07T20:53:30Z

That's a mighty fine game you've made there. At first I thought it was a shame the music from the menu disappeared, but then I realised that there was a good reason for that and it worked really well. Some sound effects would really have perfected the audio though, some nice echoey footsteps or something. I have some issues with the controls as well - I think space should be jump, and w to change rooms, and dismissing the text boxes was weird. Great game overall though, it really had me scratching my head in the adventure game tradition!

Her name by canochaba 2017-05-01T14:01:02Z

Very poignant and interesting take on the theme. The art was great, but was blurry when displayed, which detracted from it somewhat. The music was really good though, and enhanced the mood of the story very well.

I like the idea of an abusive monster captain in the Star Trek universe, fun!

Murder Mitosis by _for_science 2017-05-08T20:47:43Z

Well that is incredibly fun and polished, well done!

The Deep by GertJohnny 2017-05-01T10:47:50Z

This is a really slick game with a great atmosphere and feel. It actually really feels like you are piloting something weighty and unwieldy (but not so unwieldy it is not fun :D), and I think that contributes to the sense of crampedness and oppression. It is also, however, incredibly intuitive! The minimalistic art and palette are really effective as well.

Graphite by BAJARYMI 2017-05-02T19:57:12Z

Really amazing art style! The gameplay is a little too hard I think. Maybe having a bit more knockback from the melee attack would help, or a faster recharge of the health and mana? I enjoyed it in any case, it is very well put together and a great take on the theme.

1964 World's Fair Engineer by Lone Spelunker 2017-05-19T16:40:47Z

I really like the art and the concept. I feel like the need to have a special card in order to move other cards was a bit restrictive though. Any "utilities" I bought were only useful by chance because if that, it seemed to me. With a few tweaks I would love to play some more of this though, as it already seems to have a lot of depth to it.

MicroCHIP by Tony Godfrey 2017-05-02T14:56:17Z

I couldn't figure out how to beat the last level, but overall this is a fun game, and the art is really great.

Crater Creator by navot 2017-05-07T21:25:59Z

Oh man that "4 years later" gag - so good! As is the game as a whole, very engrossing. The graphics are simple, but spot on really - nothing to distract from the trajectory indicators which are both a clever mechanic and gorgeous in their own right. Good job!

Sillyzilla Rampage by Eric Florio 2017-05-02T20:17:09Z

This game has a great feel, and is really fun. It reminds me of missile command a little bit in how you have to anticipate the incoming enemies. But the art style really captures the feel of old monster movies as well!

Floraison by Iwa 2017-05-01T19:06:44Z

Crumble Crust by Itzhak W 2017-05-01T14:15:22Z

That is a lot of fun! I made it to the blue layer at one point. It's a shame you had to opt out of the audio category because the music is really good. The art and animation are really great as well, very colourful and bouncy.

LD40 — The more you have, the worse it is

Spring Clean – DO NOT CROSS by blinry 2017-12-05T14:36:43Z

That sure becomes challenging after the first couple of levels! Fun though. The only thing I would like is that the roomba be a bit better at finding the dirt in whatever area it is in - not authentic roomba behaviour, perhaps, but a bit less frustrating.

Orbits by tuism 2017-12-08T23:50:34Z

That's really fun and addictive. I love gravity simulations in general, but I don't think I've ever seen one put to such a fun purpose before! The graphics are simple but really stylish, especially the shadows, and I love the music.

Micro Trooper by Split82 2017-12-14T22:27:19Z

Very solid and satisfying action, this game feels incredibly polished, and looks and sounds great. The gameplay is not incredibly compelling, but it is impressive that you were able to pull it off after abandoning an earlier idea, and it is still fun.

Babies! Babies! Babies! by Local Minimum 2017-12-05T20:21:45Z

This is surreal and creepy and horrifying and absurd, and I love it. You guys are really taking it to the next level.

Delver's Sunset by Jimbly 2017-12-07T21:06:20Z

Warehouse Panic by benjamin 2017-12-05T20:48:20Z

Gorgeous! I had a bit of trouble with picking up boxes - I see other people mentioning that you have to walk at them when pressing the pickup control, but I was doing that and it was not really working effectively. It was also way too hard for me because it is basically a memory game and mine is terrible :P But that's a me problem... I guess the main thing I want to say is that I love the art.

Cursed by Kerr 2017-12-07T18:38:34Z

Wow, that is just gorgeous. The rolling up the walls is a strange mechanic but surprisingly effective! Unfortunately the AI opponent was absolutely hopeless, so I'm not sure I really got a good sense of what the game would be like with multiple players.

A Platformer for Ants by Elendow 2017-12-14T00:47:48Z

Very interesting idea, and a nice length for a jam game too. It's a shame you didn't do the character art - I really enjoyed the rest of the art and now I'm not sure if I should give a graphics rating or not. The double-jump from the post-mortem version does feel better than the original. Good game overall, very clever.

unrogue by dunin 2017-12-08T23:32:34Z

Really well put together. I usually find pico-8 games a bit overpowering visually, and this game really shows what can be done with the palette when the brighter colours are used a bit more sparingly.

Curse of Greed by Sophie Houlden 2017-12-05T21:26:44Z

I was already blown away by this game, and then I realised that as well as modifying the health bar, the character was also becoming more golden the more coins I collected! Just an astonishing degree of style and polish. Probably the best interpretation of the theme I've seen so far. The only thing I didn't like was the wall jump - I think the problem was having to press into the wall to do one, rather than just being in contact with it.

Save your diamond factory by Fafnir 2017-12-06T20:09:51Z

Very fun. It's well balanced in such a way that you can only decrease the difficulty very temporarily, and I like that you can invest in the next round, very enticing! A bit quiet though.

Shoot off their lumps by pixeye 2017-12-05T13:09:07Z

Wow, very visually impressive and moody, and I love the intense, sparring combat. I would prefer to restart somewhat after the introductory scene when I die though.

Rude Bear Rabble by alexrose 2017-12-28T16:34:22Z

Fun concept! I was a bear and I'm not sure if there were any birds around, but I think I messed things up for other people a few times by accident :P I really like the idea of some players subtly undermining the others. It might be a bit too easy to do for a few of the challenges though, and just lead to a stalemate.

I really like the colourful art as well, very nice.

There were a few bugs, but hard to avoid that when putting together an online multiplayer game in a few days I'd imagine!

Really fun, but I'm not sure there's anything to keep me in the arena rather than just collecting a few coins and then depositing them. Similarly, the wheelbarrow didn't add much for me.

The lost strawberry by egordorichev 2017-12-14T12:37:31Z

I really like it, probably my favourite I've played. I love the minimalist graphics and the mood you've created with the pixel noise in the wind and the flappy insects. The music fits perfectly. There's a good range of mechanics and they are introduced at an appropriate pace. Obviously, the game is hard to read, but I think that is rather the point, and is a novel mechanic in itself.

Cute Cats Daily by impbox 2017-12-05T20:00:23Z

Amazing how quickly my existence became focused solely on feeding cats and cleaning up their shit! There's a valuable lesson about pet ownership in that I feel. I think I will take it a bit slower on my next playthrough.

I love the art and the concept, but I did not like the audio so much, it was a bit grating. Good game overall though!

Life & Debt: A Real Life Simulator by Krassenstein 2017-12-09T21:52:38Z

There's some good jokes in here, but also quite a bit of waiting around to get to them. But of course, this creates impatience which encourages you to buy things on credit, and that sort of plays well with the moral of the story doesn't it? I wished there was some way to identify the things I had already bought after the fact.

Slightly annoying traffic by JOrbits 2017-12-13T23:46:15Z

A really interesting idea, and well executed, but the real appeal of this game to me are the gorgeous low-poly graphics and just perfect traffic themed music.

CalligraTree by Roaring Cat Games 2017-12-14T00:55:36Z

Very pretty and relaxing, I love the ink on paper look. I'm going to echo what a lot of others have said and point out that it doesn't really fit the theme - if anything the more you have the better it is :) A really nice experience regardless.

Sushi Factory Frenzy! by jasperarmstrong 2017-12-13T22:49:10Z

Nice balancing act game, but I think a little unfair - I think a game like this should cheat a little to ensure that the orders are actually fulfillable. I think I would prefer purely mouse driven gameplay as well - there is plenty to think about between watching the orders, what is coming through on the belt, and what you have already dished up, without also having to worry about where you are and what you are picking up (or not). But maybe that is just me!

Poser by PeachTreeOath 2017-12-13T14:25:00Z

Great idea, but a bit boring after a while. I didn't find it much of a challenge to avoid the cliques that I was not currently posing as, and I think what this game needs is for it to be almost inevitable for there to be some loss of reputation now and again, otherwise you can just do one group, then the next, and so on. I think it needs to be more of a balancing act. I don't really have any suggestions for how to achieve that though. I liked the different mechanics per clique and especially the change in the music, very fun ideas.

Mushroom Délicieux by TRASEVOL_DOG 2017-12-06T19:28:14Z

Pretty wild ride! I love the manic graphics and how it becomes more intense with each level. Could do with removing whatever those blue blobs are that do nothing, they are a distraction that I don't think add to the game. Very fun game though, and looks and sounds great :)

SUPER COP HERO by Finlal 2017-12-09T21:16:17Z

Really great! I love the concept and the art, probably one of the best takes on the theme I have seen so far. Quite punishing on hard though, easy-peasy is definitely the play mode for me!

Money transporter by lexi 2017-12-09T22:47:13Z

I was a bit confused by being pursued and robbed when I had no money on the truck, but once I accepted that, this was a fun game. Some sound would add a lot though.

Rokku Bando by Yanrishatum 2017-12-08T17:14:58Z

I really suck at rhythm games, but I enjoyed this anyway, it's got a great look and a great sound, and I liked the build up.

Be Yourself by Noa Calice 2017-12-14T11:22:55Z

Fun when you into a good rhythm, punishing if you accidentally get slimes blocking the holes! I like the message a lot, as well as the art and overall style of the game, especially the custom characters.

Drift Punk by CremaGames 2017-12-14T00:25:41Z

Wow, the art and music in this game are amazingly cohesive and well polished. I'm even more impressed by how large and alive the city feels. I couldn't really get the hang of the controls, personally - the bike just seemed to turn too much, and I couldn't get the fine control I needed to precisely avoid obstacles. Maybe I should try it with a controller tomorrow... Anyway, really well put together, definitely one of the best I've played this jam!

Please Come In by Steve Johnson 2017-12-13T14:03:44Z

This is definitely an interesting concept and a promising start, but unfortunately the content just sort of peters out when Chris shows up and before there is any real gameplay. I would like to play it again if it is ever completed. I love the little pixel art portraits as well, they add a nice bit of flavour :)

Bot Fishing by Pseudokai 2017-12-09T22:42:33Z

I like the idea, and it was fun and relaxing at first, but after my first upgrade I couldn't find enough fish to justify the larger boat. More fish or some way of finding them more reliably would make this a pretty cool game. Also sound.

Cat Clicker by Mr.MadCat 2017-12-09T23:13:16Z

Even with a tutorial I didn't really understand everything that happened, but I made it to the end with no dead cats, and I had fun getting there. The kitties are cute and the sound is great.

Cardhoard by HacksawUnit 2017-12-13T23:52:29Z

Ooh yeah, that's really satisfying once you get the hang of it! The K key feels a touch unresponsive, but other than that this is a really simple and innovative concept well executed, and it looks and sounds gorgeous.

72CoCSD by Togis 2017-12-05T15:16:58Z

That's so fun, I love the faithful recreation of the WinXP interface, and it works just realistically enough. Challenging gameplay, lots of fun little jokes, great stuff!

A Short Story by iamtalin 2017-12-06T19:52:34Z

Really beautiful and evocative art and music, and a well told story. I think I found the stuff out of order but it didn't really detract too much or anything.

StackUp by BinaryUnit 2017-12-07T23:47:02Z

The physics are a bit jiggly and chaotic to feel like you are ever intentionally making progress, but the graphics are great and the overall aesthetic and concept are really cute. It might be better to have the pieces lock into place so you are building a sort of ad-hoc platformer that you have to navigate as you build it.

Overdose by Kashif 2017-12-13T23:01:30Z

I wasn't reeeeally sure what was causing the heartbeat to go up (or not). Is it just when enemies remain alive for too long? I just kept mowing them down anyway and beat it on my second try. Nice little shooter!

Skulls n' Ladders by arly 2017-12-09T22:28:37Z

The art is gorgeous - I love the minimal palette, character art, and decorative features. The gameplay is really fun and addictive. I didn't make it to the top, but I was always eager for just one more go - I'd be playing this all night if there weren't so many other games to get to! The only thing I didn't like was the music, purely because it is too repetitive.

Extreme Whiski Slalom by bigbazwa 2017-12-06T20:37:08Z

Woo! Really fun, and the impairment is very effective! SFX are very fun. Only problem is that when you hit something you usually respawn right behind it again and it is hard to avoid.

Western Hero by Guilb 2017-12-13T23:34:51Z

I really like the story and the way everything drops from the sky, in fact the whole aesthetic is really great. I like that the gameplay involves such careful dodging and aiming, it adds a bit of interest beyond most similar shooters. I experienced a bit of lag as more stuff was added in later waves, but other than that I really can't fault this game, it is great!

Bug Juice 🐜 by webthingee 2017-12-19T14:52:30Z

The wall jump mechanic seemed very strange to me, and I think the game could have done without the death drop, because at times it was hard to tell if I was jumping down to platforms I couldn't see or if I was going to fall to my death. Other than that though this is a solid platformer with an interesting take on the theme. I really like some of the environment art details, like the human junk scattered around.

Dead End Office by flerokoo 2017-12-08T17:02:33Z

The controls are a bit hard to get used to, but once you do this is a really fun game with a great look and a great sense of humour.

Dead End Office by flerokoo 2017-12-08T17:03:52Z

Oh and I especially like the end screen, very beautiful. I am quite envious of Bob.

Trip to the Earth by guilhermesouza 2017-12-13T23:20:27Z

Interesting alternative to shooting things up! Nice little story with some great humour, and the soundtrack and mood are amazing, well done.

Rattendorf by NoAim91 2017-12-06T21:55:04Z

@ithasgrass The Mac version? That seems to be when the copy of Love2D that I have was modified - apparently adding a game to the package doesn't update the modification date? I've just created a post-jam build and it still says 2016, so I dunno...

Rattendorf by NoAim91 2017-12-06T22:08:16Z

Thanks for all the great feedback everyone! We've put up a post-jam version that addresses some of the issues people have seen, but it does still have some issues. We plan to release another version next week with more significant improvements.

The Carrier by Pixel Shade 2017-12-06T20:47:52Z

Great aesthetic and music. Tough gameplay - maybe a little too tough to start out with - but it is compelling and quite addictive.

Snake Force by JeffChen 2017-12-14T16:49:55Z

Really clever yet simple concept. Reminded me of cannon fodder a bit, but with friendly fire! It's easy to cheat though - I beat the last mission by commandoing around on my own and then collecting the bros later. Some solution to that problem would be required in order to take the game further I think. The art is really great - so chunky and fun!

IntenSEAty by Casper 2017-12-06T23:48:52Z

I love the graphics, especially the backgrounds. It seems like a strange choice to make the difficulty increase dependent on random interactions with the UI, but the way you presented the credits was very clever!

Space Crash by nikchernyakov 2017-12-10T13:27:04Z

Congratulations on your first game and first LD! This is a solid entry, great concept and good gameplay. The music is really cool and varied - I would like to hear a lot more of it - but it doesn't quite seem to loop correctly. My only other criticism is that it could use more visual effects such as when enemies (or the player) are destroyed, or even when the enemies get stuck to the player. Good game overall though, well done :)

Usagi Story by hatchet 2017-12-07T21:28:43Z

Kinda relaxing until the last few days really, I like it. I especially like the little bunny animations. The only thing that's missing is a few more sounds and some twee music.

Radical Relocation by mr-matt 2017-12-09T15:32:19Z

Congratulations on publishing your first game! It is really impressive looking, especially with that hectic day/night cycle, and the gameplay is solid and challenging. I would go with an alternative control for rotating the camera in edit mode - right or middle mouse click maybe, but that is just a minor thing. Really well done overall.

Ignite by Scurf 2017-12-07T23:31:51Z

Great aesthetic and atmosphere. My mouse cursor didn't show up properly though which made it a bit tough to play. As with another commenter above, I am on a mac.

POKED - be social by Faktori 2017-12-12T23:04:24Z

That's a lot of fun, the art and animations are really amazing, and I'm impressed you were able to put together so many little scenes for the endings. There's not a lot of audio, but what is there is just right and really adds to the game. My only criticism is that the buttons on the alarm dialogs do not work properly - you have to click on the text instead of the button. But that's only a very minor thing. Great game, well done!

Cursest Dungeon by Dupix 2017-12-07T12:52:11Z

The art and animation are great, and I like the sound too. The mechanism you have for increasing the difficulty is very clever, and fits the theme well. However, the rope climbing is really janky, and that did not jive well with the orientation and the other controls shifting around and stuff.

ParanoWeed by Eraleis 2017-12-07T13:01:23Z

Nice idea, I love the visuals after you collect the weed.

Xmas Fair Drinking Simulator by Wakka2 2017-12-06T19:15:09Z

That's a really gorgeous look, and you've really captured a christmassy feel! The music is great but it could do with some audio besides the music, in particular maybe some feedback on whether you've drunk an alcoholic drink or a non-alcoholic one.

Stealy by Grentacular 2017-12-13T14:55:32Z

The animations and other art in this are really great and the cutscenes especially make it feel really polished. The game loop is good, but starts to feel a bit grindy after a while, I think because there are not that many places to explore or higher rewards being dangled in front of you. There isn't really even any incentive to explore around the mansion because there's so much stuff between the start point and the exit, and for a similar reason I'm not sure why I would bother with the maze. The music is good as long as you don't spend too much time shopping :P Overall, a very promising game.

Crowd Control by PolyHatSteve 2017-12-13T11:41:02Z

Tough game, but addictive! It would be really cool with some appropriate artwork for the crowd and the scene, but I can't fault the gameplay or the concept aside from the difficulty. On the issue of the difficulty, maybe having some way to recover from being hit or even to intercept shots before they reach the mayor would be good ways of reducing it while also introducing new ways of interacting with the game. Very well done overall!

Matchy's Kooky Cookies by Michael Silverman 2017-12-10T00:09:45Z

Very fun art style! I loved the attention to detail with having different expressions on the banditos! It's a shame you are not allowing ratings on that :( The gameplay is definitely lacking something. I've nothing against lots of clicking, but I think it needs some variety - occasional opportunities to clear the wave in a click, power ups to increase your area of effect or change the mode of play, things like that. Also, more immediate and rewarding feedback for successfully cleared banditos would probably help the game feel better - currently they just disappear...

Congratulations on completing your first LD!

Video Games by Bastienre4 2017-12-14T22:18:06Z

Really well done, so meta :) The graphics are simple, but effective - honestly any additional complexity to them would just have been distracting. The gameplay is challenging and innovative, but has a really well balanced difficulty curve. The tutorial is a great touch of polish. A big mistake I made was in thinking that the movement direction game required me to to remain moving in the indicated direction, but after watching your video I see that you only have to give it a little nudge, so I guess I will have to go give it another go now!

I took too many drugs by Neecko 2017-12-10T00:33:52Z

That's a wild ride. I guess some of the effects are a bit too aggressive though, because two of the pills I couldn't click on after taking all the others. Fun concept though, great graphics, great soundtrack contributing to a really effective mood.

OVERWHELM by randomnine 2017-12-06T21:21:34Z

This is so stylish and polished, I am in awe. Every movement is juicy and satisfying, and the art is gorgeous in its minimalism. The intro to the game and the tutorial aspects are also great touches. There's nothing quite like a long suspenseful intro to a game! However, having to go through it every time you die, when it is so easy to die, makes replays a bit off-putting. Overall a very impressive game, especially for the compo, well done.

Oh no! Humans! by esper000 2017-12-06T23:42:35Z

Cute art! I felt really sorry for mars :( It's fun in a way, but failure seems inevitable. Nice sfx and music as well.

LD44 — Your life is currency

Capitalist Piggies by blinry 2019-05-08T14:38:27Z

Brief but fun. The mechanics were well introduced, but I didn't find the mechanic introduced on the final level very interesting. I think it could use a few more levels that bring the other mechanics together, and really see what they can do.

Life Business by jk5000 2019-05-16T21:27:46Z

Made it to week 24 on my second try. This is quite a clever game, and you need to think quite strategically to make progress, but it's not entirely clear where the impact on the stats is coming from. Good work overall, will probably play again.

People Poker by randomhuman 2019-04-29T14:16:18Z

Thanks for the feedback @local-minimum! I guess as usual I was worried about making it too easy, and ended up making it too hard :sob: If it wasn't clear, you have to take cover near the larger objects in the world (the cards, drink, etc.) and make your way between them until you get to the edge. There are some fairly large areas without any cover though, so maybe if I filled those in with more stuff it would be a bit easier.

People Poker by randomhuman 2019-04-30T08:48:38Z

@local-minimum Yes, good advice! I like the idea of having the people in the cage shout instructions at you, that would be a great way to tutorialize without needing a separate tutorial. I'll keep it in mind if I do a post-jam version.

People Poker by randomhuman 2019-05-04T22:45:54Z

@coachsisyphus @tim-allen @fm-studio @annie-owl @castrolol @gamesplusjames @aeveis @lombax @kromeboy @mantou @good-enough

Thanks all for the kind words and great feedback - [I've started work on a post-compo version](https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/44/people-poker/$156642) that will address the difficulty in particular, and also add some of the stuff that I had planned but didn't get to, and extra animations and juice and whatnot.

People Poker by randomhuman 2019-05-05T11:01:36Z

@owlycode At the moment you just have to get back into cover to get them to back off. In the update it will be possibly to dodge them if you change direction at the last minute.

People Poker by randomhuman 2019-05-07T10:12:16Z

@simon-rahnasto Oh yes I remember that! Thanks for checking in on me and for your kind words!

People Poker by randomhuman 2019-05-19T12:59:55Z

@peterfonts Sorry, I should have included alternate controls indeed. Are you on an AZERTY keyboard?

I tried a web build of my previous Godot game and it didn't work very well, so that kind of put me off this time, I didn't want people playing a version with problems I might not be aware of. I will try it out again for the post-jam version.

Thanks for the feedback!

People Poker by randomhuman 2019-05-24T17:43:44Z

Anybody interested in playtesting a post-jam version of my game? I've tried to address as much feedback as possible:

https://randomhuman.itch.io/people-poker-post-jam

I'd love to know if I've succeeded in improving it. I have additional changes planned, but mostly cosmetic stuff. Thanks in advance!

People Poker by randomhuman 2019-05-29T14:38:04Z

@jk5000 Ok, I'm glad you were able to save somebody anyway! Thanks for checking it out again

People Poker by randomhuman 2019-05-29T14:42:16Z

@annie-owl Thanks for checking it out again for me  I'm glad you found it easier. It should already become more difficult as you save more people, increasing in difficulty every second save, first by removing cover and then by adding a new type of threat. That is an interesting suggestion though, to make the cover based more on vision than just proximity.

Don't Kill My Cat by Local Minimum 2019-04-29T14:09:57Z

I guess life is a game that you can never stop playing ;)

I enjoyed learning facts about your cat, but some more reward than that would have been great, like if instead of just holding the mouse button you had to continually stroke her, and that made her purr.

Unbalanced Silly Slot Game by SimplePotential 2019-05-16T19:16:01Z

I don't really get it to be honest. I could rarely shoot the high rollers enough to disuade them, and it was really a roll of the dice whether they bankrupted me or not. I like the sprites and sound effects though.

Unbalanced Silly Slot Game by SimplePotential 2019-05-16T20:12:16Z

@simplepotential Those sound like great ideas, I'd love to try it again if you implement them!

Death Alley by DuzzOnDrums 2019-04-30T18:19:24Z

Tricky to get the hang of, but very rewarding when you do! I love all the bouncy animations, and the speed effects are very satisfying. It could benefit from a faster advancement to the next frame, because I was always itching to have another go and waiting became a bit frustrating. Great game all round otherwise!

Order Eaty Eat 88 by mennchen22 2019-05-16T12:39:22Z

Good concept. The art is a bit of a mishmash of styles and resolutions, which I'm not a fan of, but overall it is put to good use, and with the audio creates the desired atmosphere quite effectively. The gameplay doesn't have a lot to it as it stands, and ended before I even really got to use my gun. Like others, I was very confused about what was a platform on level 2, while there was a clear separation between foreground and background on level 1. The character also seemed to move more slowly on level 2. It's a shame it ended so quick anyway, I would have liked to have seen more.

safecrack by torcado 2019-04-30T14:19:06Z

Woooah super fun! Really great graphics too. I was a bit worried when there was no music, but it would have gotten in the way of all the lovely coin collecting sounds, so I didn't miss it once I got going :)

Space Struggle by meursault 2019-04-30T12:42:01Z

Wow, so much going on in this game! I love the sense of humour and the art. In the gameplay, I'm not sure there's enough incentive to explore around, I pretty much just stuck to the shops where possible, but the concept is really cool.

Try to live by Remicy 2019-05-02T21:49:22Z

Took me a few tries before I really figured out what was going on, but once I did it was a lot of fun. I like that there were two layers to the clicker madness, and the ending was nice, the scene is really nice to look at once the buttons are removed. The music is also very effective. Good job!

A Moment To Reflect by aeveis 2019-04-29T22:10:28Z

Not a lot to the gameplay, but there are some nice sentiments and the art is really nice. I love that crying bird and the way he hops around.

Salvage by A-Flat Miner Studios 2019-05-21T11:59:30Z

Very cool, very moody. Great style, graphics and music, I love it. I guess if I had a criticism it would be that the threat arrives quite quickly, so there isn't much time to get into buying upgrades and stuff.

Human, your life is currency by asfdfdfd 2019-05-16T11:39:07Z

Nice art. The gameplay would be much improved by the enemy having a range beyond which they cannot see the player, or only become suspicious, because they could see me from off screen and the insta-death is kinda annoying. Having to scurry for cover would be better I think. It's pretty fun as it is though, just a bit more about trial and error to learn the enemy's route.

Meds of Honor by anidealgift 2019-05-16T11:59:45Z

Really nice art and clever gameplay concepts. The back and forth to the medkit dispenser gets a bit frustrating after a while. I guess you can chuck medkits across the level to avoid that a bit, but it often didn't go well for me! I would probably reduce all the zombies to one hit kills and increase the movement speed a bit, I think that would make the gameplay a bit faster paced and more satisfying. I really appreciate the reversal of the standard FPS mechanics anyway.

Meds of Honor by anidealgift 2019-05-16T12:15:22Z

Ok I just realised after reading some of the other comments that you can pick up multiple medkits at once. Sorry, I am a thick. It does definitely improve things to do so.

Instagram Boyfriend by ultrarat 2019-05-16T18:42:53Z

Cool concept. It wasn't immediately obvious to me that you had to change things in advance of taking the photo, I thought it was more of touchup/editing thing, but I figured it out in the end. Needs more levels as I guess ye know, but the art and for what's there are really great.

Oblation. by Maruki 2019-05-04T15:34:48Z

Great art, nice vibe, I like it.

Dissuasion by good.enough 2019-05-16T19:02:38Z

Good story, and the intro tells it really effectively. The gameplay's quite good too, and I could see it being expanded into having additional dimensions revolving around organising a resistance, making contacts with sympathisers and avoiding attempts at infiltration and the like. The "life as currency" aspect doesn't really seem to come into it as it is, except as an aspect of the backstory.

Good game overall, great writing, really sucked me in.

Idle Idol by Daniel Moreno 2019-04-29T22:06:48Z

Great combination of genres, with highly addictive results! Seems super polished and the art is really pretty.

Devil's Death Collector by gamesplusjames 2019-05-15T19:55:24Z

Great aesthetic and interesting concept. I can really see a lot of potential in this game. Unfortunately there are a couple of issues that detract from the fun a bit. The first is that you can find people that seem to match the description, but turn out to not be the target, and there is no way to rule them out without losing points. I think there should only be one match each time. Maybe there could be smaller details that could distinguish between close matches later on, but if all you´re given is hair, hat, glasses, then anybody with those details right should match. The second is probably a bug, and maybe only effects me, but the "black" hat and glasses are actually grey. Finally, I don´t like the way the camera moves, pulling in towards the character and stuff - I´m trying to look around damnit!

Seaway by Constantin 2019-05-02T12:40:28Z

Really gorgeous and fun game. I might have preferred more direct control of the ship, it had a tendency to spin weirdly. The autopilot also seemed to get very confused on occasion. Minor complaints though, I really enjoyed the game as it is, and even without the combat it was a very serene landscape to cruise around.

Like a few other people have said I found the slave thing a bit odd, and thought I was collecting planks of wood, which made sense in my mind as constituting the "life" or "health" of my ship, whereas being destroyed because I run out of slaves doesn't make much sense to me. On the other hand, trading planks of wood for weapons probably wouldn't make a lot of sense either...

Use your heart by dick-claus 2019-05-17T11:10:18Z

Interesting concept, would be great to see it expanded. The music is epic!

Life Merchant by Webox 2019-05-16T20:10:38Z

Brilliant! Great gameplay concepts, well executed. I love how the music and colours change for each age. It could use at least one more level to explore the final mechanic in a bit more depth, but what is there is really excellent and fun, well done.

Path of Redemption by Simon Rahnasto 2019-05-16T20:43:19Z

Wow, this game really has everything! It's absolutely astounding how much content ye've managed to pack in here, and it's all incredibly well polished, and well balanced. Probably the most fun I've had with an entry this LD, and with amazing art and audio to match.

missed messages. by Angela He 2019-05-03T12:48:48Z

Beautiful game and story. So much art and mood and small character building details packed in for such a short space of time, I don't know how you do it. I initially thought the end of the first day was an ending and thought things came a little out of the blue, but after playing on I realise that you incorporated the idea of replaying into the game itself, which is something I really appreciate. Another thing I really like is the small degree of movement of the art with the mouse, it really adds a lot of life.

Great game overall!

Social Poker by kromeboy 2019-05-15T20:33:38Z

I was legitimately starting to freak out about answering the questions before I got to the punchline! Well done, really makes you think

GTApp - Great Tube App by Gaming Night 2019-05-04T23:10:19Z

Fun game. I like the way the music changes when you hit somebody. It was telling me that I was losing points for doing that, but it didn't actually seem to be the case. I didn't mind anyway, it was a good strategy for me because I suck  Great game anyway, and kinda topical.

Sinking Town by detectiveLosos 2019-05-15T19:16:32Z

Really love the art and music. The robots are really distinctive and well designed. I enjoyed the gameplay, the concept of robots gleefully trading their body parts is a lot of fun, and made for some good puzzling. My main criticism is that certain things seem to be unachievable once you swap your arms out, and I had to restart twice because I did things in the wrong order. I still had a lot of fun though, this game has a lot of personality.

Pucamuc by Mors 2019-05-03T12:01:34Z

The music's amazing, I especially like that funky title screen music! The art is really good as well, very bright and clear. I must say I found the game mechanics a bit frustrating though. I like the idea of paying blood for jumps, but only being able to move by jumping really went against my instincts, and the bounce blocks also seemed really unpredictable to me. Good level design though, and great game overall even if it wasn't necessarily for me.

Discharge by Arbosis 2019-05-02T14:51:19Z

Really nice art and good gameplay. I liked that there were multiple routes through the levels (or at least semi-secret areas, maybe I ended up going the same way to the actual finish in the end, I'm not sure). It added a nice exploratory dimension to the game, especially at one point where I actually didn't have enough charge to activate something, so I was forced to find more first.

I had a few problems with getting stuck on things, or not stuck on things, in the case of the moving platforms. It's also very quiet - if you don't have time to make music I would recommend finding some royalty free, I believe it is not against the rules for the jam as long as you exclude yourself from the Audio rating, which you have done anyway.

Good game overall anyway.

Connect44 by coachsisyphus 2019-04-30T08:55:36Z

That was definitely a thingy! I think I beat it, and I really like the idea of laughing at the player for trying the game, so thumbs up from me.

Happiness Life by ManTou 2019-05-15T20:51:09Z

Gets quite tough, but compelling all the way through. I like the range of work mechanics. It´s a bit quiet when you´re at home, but the music when you´re at work is really great. The art is very clear and communicative.

Rashness by Saering 2019-05-03T15:38:55Z

Tough, but very interesting and engaging. I think his bullets are too fast and I didn't understand or like when things went dark. Great game overall though.

Guardian Sphere by Pixel-boy 2019-04-30T18:00:26Z

Amazing! I can't believe the amount of content you've managed to fit in here! Really gorgeous game and I like the balance of trade-offs between the upgrades, health and level.

Bloodletter by shp 2019-05-03T12:20:02Z

Nice, very satisfying shooting mechanics. Maybe a few too many enemies when you only have a slow weapon like a shotgun. The slo-mo mechanic would have worked better with a more targeted gun as well. Great art, music and sound effects though.

The 7 Cents Deal by Probe31 2019-04-30T21:51:51Z

The artistry involved in every detail of this game is really astounding.

99Hearts by barret 2019-05-16T21:06:13Z

I really love the visual style and the music, and the gameplay concepts are quite unique and interesting (spending health to grow the level at least!). I didn't really like the way the shooting works, and trying to kill enemies with the bombs was also quite frustrating as some of them are a bit erratic it seemed to me. Bomberman style bombs might have workeed better maybe... After reading a few of the comments it sounds like the combat mechanics change a bit as you progress, so I might have to take another crack at this one.

Live to Work, Work to Live by castrolol 2019-05-01T08:35:13Z

Bad flappy bird clone :( Great tetris clone! Overall really engaging - kinda feels like work, but is also fun, which I think is perfect balance for what it is trying to say. I didn't realise I had to specifically buy food and medicine and stuff at the end of the day, so I thought I was doing great and getting ahead, but everybody was actually hungry and sick. Kind of like... society... hmm  hmm  hmm

Memories of a Captain by OwlyCode 2019-05-16T20:01:39Z

Ahh this f**king guy again: the game. Really good but really hard, I couldn't get past the gamma sector but I reeeeally want to because the story is so intriguing! I think it needs an option to invert the y axis controls, I couldn't really play it with a controller because of this. I was able to invert them on the keyboard which made it a bit more intuitive for me at least. The colliders on the asteroids seemed to be a bit off sometimes, usually in my favour but sometimes not. Minor issues though - a stylish, addictive game with a very interesting story.

Pixel Hell by NoodleMaster 2019-05-21T19:52:03Z

Controls are a bit stodgy and frustrating, but that devil character is a lot of fun! Man he was really yucking it up at my expense! I really like the "hell" sound as well, really sets the mood.

Rainbow Rampage - Twitch Overlay Game by Instafluff 2019-05-01T16:36:54Z

This is a nice addition to a stream for sure, and I think the pace is about right for it. I don't think adding speed really achieves anything, because the character just moves randomly, so extra speed just makes them run into the enemies faster - and they also get stuck on the walls a lot. I think it should be some other stat, or maybe temporary powerups or something.

Good game overall though, and the first time I've played a twitch overlay game for Ludum Dare!

Sacrifice Knight by QuackedDuk 2019-05-16T21:40:02Z

Tough, but satisfying once you figure out a strategy. The art is quite nice, and the audio, though limited, is very effective. My main criticism is that the charging enemies are right on you as soon as you enter the room, they definitely need to be paused until the player finishes entering. Good game overall.

Rock, Paper Scissors: After (School) Hours Edition by SpliceDev 2019-05-02T21:58:32Z

That's really satisfying if you can get into a good flow. I only got to 21 so far, but I think this is one that I will be having another go at! Music's real nice, and sound effects are effective. The art is nice, but it could some better separation between foreground and background maybe.

Life for Likes by FM Studio 2019-05-15T20:07:42Z

Fun game, great concept. I like the challenge of trying to get as close to the enemies as possible wihout getting hit, it is certainly a unique challenge. Music and art are both really great, they have a lot of energy.

D.R.I.E.D. by JasonD 2019-04-30T18:35:53Z

Great art and music, great concept for a world, well written, and everything seems very well polished. It doesn't seem like there are enough opportunities to recover fuel (lots of opportunities to lose/spend it!) so I found it quite tough, personally.

The Bloody Merchant by Lombax 2019-05-15T20:23:44Z

Good work completing your first Ludum Dare! I didn´t really understand what I was doing in your game, but I was doing quite well anyway  You have a lot of good detail in the art and the music is good. With a bit clearer gameplay I think this could be a lot of fun.

utsvulten by ditto 2019-04-29T21:38:57Z

My kinda weird, great stuff. I can't think of anything I would add or change.

Money is Time by BIOBOOSTERPIXEL 2019-04-30T08:44:42Z

Wow I had a kid aged 75, what a stallion.

I like the degree of interactivity in this, and flipping the "time is money" adage is a really clever and effective approach to the theme.

Music is good, but a little repetitive, and the SFX are great. But what I really like is the graphics - just three colours, but used in such an attention-grabbing way. Nicely done.

LD46 — Keep it alive

DJ Hamster by blinry 2020-04-23T08:55:21Z

What a delightful retrospective! I liked how inherently rewarding having the music play at the right speed was, independent of the gameplay effects it had. The graphics are super cute too. The hitboxes on the bad objects are a bit big and for some records it is hard to tell which is which. Minor complaints though - a really great game overall!

Nightwatch by Neon 2020-04-26T09:03:41Z

Great atmosphere, it feels really spooky beyond the campsite, and the diary entries are really fun. I like the low-poly 3D art as well, it's a great style. All the interactions were very clear and explained well in-game. Good work!

Gophers by randomhuman 2020-04-22T21:46:26Z

@mika-la-grand Was that the second antenna you visited? If so the target would be in the second "layer" of city. The third antenna would have a target in the hills behind the city, and not necessarily along the ridges either... I was trying to introduce some progression of difficulty, but maybe it could use some subtle directional hints rather than just proximity.

But yeah I should have had some way to cancel the search for sure, even if just the esc key. And thanks for the advice about the audio, I'll crank it up a bit in the next release!

Gophers by randomhuman 2020-04-22T21:49:57Z

@wolfrug Thank you, I'm glad you enjoyed!

That's wild that the timer kept resetting to two minutes... I've been trying to recreate that but haven't had any luck so far. Do you mind me asking what platform you're on?

Gophers by randomhuman 2020-04-22T22:00:24Z

@sadzanenyama Thanks for the bug report! I haven't been able to recreate it but I think I have an idea of how to prevent it anyway.

If you activate all the antennas (there are 3) there is a particular post on the network that if you read it the game will end after you close the computer. I wasn't sure how to end the game tbh :P You didn't miss much, it's just a screen that says "Congratulations" basically

Gophers by randomhuman 2020-04-22T22:09:08Z

Thanks @blinry ! I love a nice parallax

If you've activated 3 antennas there is a particular post you can read that will end the game after you close the computer. You've missed more in the posts themselves than in the actual ending of the game tbh.

Protektor by rujo 2020-05-07T15:27:54Z

Really good - satisfying twitchy gameplay, interesting graphical style, and a great soundtrack. Nice work!

Protektor by rujo 2020-05-07T15:36:17Z

Just played the post-jam version as well (or the first few levels at least) and I had to come back and say that it's really impressive as well. I love the extra visual flair and the gameplay additions are great. I think I'll be coming back to this one!

Pupa by AkirAssasin 2020-05-10T14:40:29Z

Great stuff, and really well polished. It's very interesting to learn how things interact. I admit I did get a bit impatient after I got to the eagles and cheated a bit to see the rest of the game. Could do with some music and sound effects, but other than that a really great game.

Keeping SNES Alive! by drludos 2020-04-26T19:20:45Z

Great concept! Cool to see something developed for an old console.

Keep It Alive by danman9914 2020-04-22T12:46:41Z

Phew, nerve-wracking! Beautiful art and perfect difficulty curve as well as a well told story, really fantastic entry.

Sector 7G by kennux 2020-05-11T20:45:10Z

It's pretty cool but I couldn't find a use for most of the items. Some indication of how heat is flowing might be a good idea. The art is real nice.

B R U I S E S by leafthief 2020-04-23T09:44:17Z

Gorgeous art and a great atmosphere. The story is intriguing but I can't seem to find a conclusion to it. I really enjoyed what I played anyway, it's extremely well put together and well written.

@73N: KEEP. HIM. ALIVE. by OldPeculier 2020-05-11T20:14:35Z

Really styish, I love the art and visual effects, as well as the music and SFX. Super polished entry. I couldn't figure out how to get the combiner to work though! Picking and placing things is a little bit awkward as well, especially when things get crowded. Very cool entry overall though.

Fuel Onward! by Drury 2020-05-11T16:42:01Z

Great aesthetic, and the captain is a fun character. I couldn't figure out a strategy to get through the storm unfortunately.

Interstellar Connection by celia14 2020-05-07T19:21:45Z

A really well told story tied together perfectly by compelling puzzles. One of the highlights of the jam for me!

Keep It Ticking! by auxC 2020-05-07T16:28:24Z

Great concept and the graphics are really gorgeous. Quite tough, but fun, and very satisfying when you coordinate a sequence really well. The "desyncing" is definitely not fixed unfortunately, and when you get to the part above the starting area it becomes a big problem as the clones rarely make it to where they are needed.

Juggle Jungle by shaulor 2020-05-11T16:15:02Z

The egg kept just breaking in mid-air at one point so I had to stop - but I enjoyed myself up until that! I like the kind of spooky music...

Woodpunk by elisee 2020-04-26T19:24:17Z

Really great stuff - excellent art and music, and quite complex gameplay for a jam. I couldn't find a way to make progress on all of the quests I encountered, but I really enjoyed what I played anyway. Good work team!

DODGE IT by Welliton 2020-04-21T20:59:20Z

Wow I love that art, so crisp and clear and communicative. Lovely. The gameplay is excellent as well, simple but well executed with a well-paced difficulty curve.

Headbutt by waynetron 2020-05-08T09:46:00Z

Really gorgeous aesthetic and satisfying gameplay, I love it.

Manual Breathing by legavroche 2020-04-25T21:39:52Z

That's fun! The character art is super cute and the idea of having to manually breathe is novel and interesting. Focusing on that while also trying to pay attention to the jumps was definitely challenging. It really made me appreciate the automatic breathing that I take for granted!

Morphology by Shess 2020-05-07T15:15:26Z

Wow, real nice game, super polished! The art is gorgeous and I like the way the world building is woven into the gameplay.

Tiny Fragments by Daniel Moreno 2020-05-11T12:41:54Z

Bloody amazing, so polished and fun to play.

Socks by rainbowism 2020-04-26T10:44:12Z

The art in this game is gorgeous, and it feels extremely polished with the UI effects. I like that the sock patterns don't move with the character, and change its ear colour, it's a small thing but it's a cool look! It really needs some sound so that I can leave it running in the background when the skunk goes to sleep, but know to go back when it wakes up - plus it would really just finish off an excellent game.

No Fish To Die by dillonbecker 2020-05-07T19:43:52Z

Really creative and really tough (I couldn't get very far tbh, but it was fun enough that I was compelled to keep trying). The art is super cute and the intro was really funny. Great job overall!

Experiment #0 by FTZ 2020-05-11T20:59:16Z

Looks real nice, but way too advanced for me!

Angst by Silas Reinagel 2020-04-25T22:05:09Z

Gorgeous art! Ye fit a lot in in the time ye had. It didn't seem to me that there was enough to do in the real-world environment, it was just there for a moment and then back to a blackout. In the blackout environment I was a little unsure what I was doing - just trying to find something new to interact with each time? It's an important topic anyway and the game communicated the struggle well, so kudos on that. I look forward to playing the post-jam version!

Dont' Drown by OldeTobeh 2020-05-11T17:55:41Z

Fun concept and nice art! I think the button should have slightly more effect, I could really only get the water to stay at whatever level it had reached, rather than go down. Fun though!

Soul Blazer by Lukas TAMAYO 2020-05-03T11:05:37Z

Gruesome! I was a bit confused at first, but once I figured out how to get out of the first room I really enjoyed it. Art is great and the music is well chosen.

goose no lose by Kultisti 2020-05-07T18:53:07Z

I like it a lot! The super-minimal art is really cute and effective, as are the interactions. It gets tough on the third level, I had to leave a lot of someones behind

Dance Commander by detectiveLosos 2020-04-23T18:01:27Z

Great concept and art. I personally found it very difficult to make progress, I couldn't even beat the level that was just the bouncer, he just kept following me and hammering on my guys :slight_frown: The auras didn't show for me in Firefox but I switched to Chrome and that was fine. It's cool though, with a few tweaks to the difficulty I would love to play it again.

The Outer Planets: Legacy of Ganymede Station (TOPLOGS) by Darren Kearney by DarrenCearnaigh 2020-04-26T09:53:55Z

Nice concept, and a great intro. I would love to be able to explore this station through successive generations.

The Flame by sebastianscaini 2020-04-21T12:52:24Z

This is a fun way to tell a story! The way the campers react when you pick them up is really fun. It's a bit weird when somebody chops down a tree but then finds nothing though... The endings were great, I played a second time and just threw everybody in the fire to see what would happen XD

Kaoamaru Kaiju by SplitPainter 2020-04-21T13:18:31Z

Nice and moody, but I wasn't really sure what was going on to be honest! As you said, more of a movie than a game, and maybe a bit too much lore to explore in a jam. I struggle with that a lot myself in the ideas I have for jams.

Keep it afloat! by Maka 2020-04-21T14:35:49Z

Yarrr tis a fine game! It feels really satisfying to get into a rhythm and make progress, just like with real sea-shanties (I'd imagine)! Great work!

Edit: Forgot to mention how much I love the art, that paper cutouts wobbling about aesthetic!

Delicious Letters by ZakAmana 2020-04-21T12:36:40Z

Amazing degree of polish and extremely stylish. Every interaction is satisfying and the textual content is really fun.

The only thing I missed was a way to cancel writing a letter once started so I could choose to ignore instead if the available options don't suit.

Slimekeep by BenBonk 2020-05-08T09:19:49Z

Nice, it's really fun trying to corral the slimes and then mowing into them all. The art is cute but slime colours that contrasted with the background would have been nice. I thought you were going for a gameboy thing, but then there is some pink as well... It also seemed like bullets were going through slimes quite often. Still, it was a fun time despite that, good job!

Don't Drop The Egg! by rk3Omega 2020-04-26T19:37:59Z

Tough but fair - mostly; I think the physics on the air currents are a bit too unpredictable. The quick restart kept me trying though! Great fun altogether, with tight controls and lovely art and music.

Soul Dungeon by VugarS 2020-05-11T15:41:07Z

This is really cool, it sort of boils down the genre to its basic elements. Unfortunately it doesn't really become challenging at any point. If the difficulty ramp continued I think this would be really compelling gameplay - as it is I've played to room 25 and I kinda want to go back for more.

Great aesthetic as well, very clear communicative iconography.

I'm sure it goes without saying that some audio would improve the sense of reward for the player's actions and increase the longevity of the game.

I hope you build on this because I'd love to have it to play on mobile.

Mainframe overload by Evanaellio 2020-05-08T09:37:23Z

Very fun! It's really satisfying to smack those things with my keyboard for some reason, even if that is mostly a backup to the turrets. I didn't realize there was a second computer until it was too late to save it, but I did alright just focusing on the one anyway. I love the moody lighting as well and the music is great. Great work overall!

a Very Talented Worm by unplugred 2020-05-11T15:13:52Z

LAIKA by m-trigo 2020-04-21T13:01:21Z

LOOOOL! How did you make a UI so exciting and funny??

Just like your old laika, this game's got a lot of heart! Love it!

Dude Dont Die by PeaNud 2020-05-11T17:49:57Z

Decently shooty shooty bang bang. Good job.

theColony by falstro 2020-05-12T13:43:48Z

Very nice art, I like the variety of planets. The map overlay is cool as well. There's not much challenge to it right now but what is there is well polished.

Runaway by HackTrout 2020-04-21T13:36:31Z

Nice idea and really nice art! The feedback on the shooting is a bit hard to interpret though, and I didn't really understand the cover system. I got pretty far by just ignoring it and just firing and hoping. If I were to change one thing about this game it would probably be to have the enemies go down in one shot - maybe with an increased number of them to compensate.

Program has stopped working by Alexander Wayne 2020-05-10T14:03:03Z

The shooting is the opposite direction to what I expected, which was a bit confusing at first, but once I got used to it it was pretty interesting. Really needs some more audio, but a fun game otherwise.

hoarde. by Geryon Games 2020-04-21T14:51:48Z

I didn't like the music, but aside from that this a very enjoyable game - a simple concept well executed, with just enough visual flair to make it interesting. Nicely done!

They will be alive! (Of course if you save them) by SneakyFox 2020-05-11T17:11:09Z

I can kinda see what you were going for, but it is very incomplete as I think you know. I would probably reduce or remove the cooldown on the gun (or maybe that was part of what you had planned for the gold, upgrades and the like?) and maybe also make the shooting mouse based to make it a bit more lively. The low poly art is really nice.

Mother Of Dragon by ceriseghost 2020-05-12T13:54:36Z

I love that hand-drawn art, great stuff! The gameplay has a good balance of elements and is just the right level of difficulty and length for a jam. Good job!

SheepShot by RoofloorWall 2020-05-11T15:03:59Z

That starts to get quite tough after a while, and it's really fun when that challenge kicks in! The art is really cute, gameplay's great... The only area this game falls down is in the audio, which is serviceable, but could be a lot better.

Run for their lives by cliskarlos 2020-05-11T17:36:36Z

Graphics and audio are nice, but the movement is too slow, I only managed to save two or three babies.

Pet Rock Simulator by Keepoccino 2020-05-11T16:06:14Z

Fun concept! I expected from the title that it would be a joke game with just a rock and nothing happening, so I was pleasantly surprised by the amount of interactivity. I especially liked the rod.

Derelict: Gaia Protocol by Groogy 2020-05-10T13:26:33Z

I love the intro, it really sets the mood, and the gameplay is a well tuned balancing act that was very compelling. I couldn't tell if the graphics were glitched out - everything I placed was a hashed box - but it didn't really matter that much because the colouring of the terrain communicated everything I needed to know.

Robot Walk by tmpvoid 2020-04-26T09:38:06Z

Pretty cool for what it is. The walk mechanics are amazing and based on your post-mortem I think the ideas you had would have worked out really well if you'd had the time to implement them. I love the idea of piloting this guy around a world getting into mischief.

Earth 2.0 by AryanJumani 2020-04-26T10:11:19Z

Short, but intense! I like the art.

Ninjalloony Balloon by ddanushkin 2020-05-11T16:57:08Z

The sound effects really make this, great stuff! The gameplay is quite satisfying when you figure it out, but it doesn't really escalate. The slow motion thing just blacked out my screen, which I assume is a bug, but I didn't really need to use it anyway. Good job overall, fun concept!

Yobuds by noahnewline 2020-04-21T12:03:00Z

It's like arcade lemmings XD

Everything in this game is well designed, from the title screen tutorial guiding you into the gameplay, to the way that the different game elements tie together (like projectiles that don't kill you becoming an opportunity to gain more "life"). The art and audio are super cute as well. Great job!

light. by Szivacs 2020-05-10T13:50:46Z

Zombie Horde by Tatuvasara 2020-05-11T12:51:41Z

Loved it, played it all the way through on my second try. The gameplay loop and sense of progression is really compelling and the art is gorgeous. Probably my favourite that I've played so far.

Grotto Down by xtacobaco 2021-04-30T13:43:21Z

Pretty cool, I like it! Colour scheme is very readable and looks great, and although you say it is inspired by downwell the way you control the character makes it quite a different experience.

INTO THE FRAME by Gaming Night 2021-04-27T20:51:56Z

I like the idea a lot and I love the reality warping effect. It's a shame there aren't more levels that make use of the second layer. I was able to wing a few of the levels as well without changing layer at all

Workplace Sleep Syndrome by iMan 2021-04-27T12:05:17Z

Fun platforming action, gorgeous art and great music.

The changing opacity of the "real world" overlay is a clever way of selling the drift into deeper and deeper sleep. It does make the opening moments of every level a bit unpleasant though. Maybe the curve in the opacity change could be weighted to change very rapidly at the very edge of wakefulness.

Monster journal: a short story by Fenderbate 2021-04-27T15:50:34Z

Godoooooot! I love the simplicity of this game and the amount of variation you've managed to work in, and it looks great as well.

Addict. by SachaY 2021-04-27T15:42:45Z

For a while I thought I had got so high I was never gonna come down again! That turned out not to be the case though

I like the way this game expresses its ideas, and that it has ideas worth expressing. It reminds me of the animated short "Nuggets" a bit: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HUngLgGRJpo

Physician, Heal Thy Elf by No Grapes Games 2021-04-29T16:33:49Z

Great intro and great gameplay. The tiles were a little confusing at first but once I figured out what was what I had a blast

20.000 LIGHT YEARS deep in THE SKY by Arivenzys 2021-04-30T08:47:23Z

Wonderful! The variety of planets is so creative and the narration is really fun.

Lambda by YellowKamel 2021-04-30T09:05:55Z

You made it look really nice for being just a terminal! Fun stuff

DEEPER by eboatwright 2021-04-30T13:25:50Z

Tough but fun - it definitely made me keep wanting to try again

Blackout by Frasse 2021-04-28T19:41:19Z

Wow so much content! Classic adventuring but thankfully no puzzles too obscure. The art is amazing and the story is great too. I liked the twists and the credits  Good job team!

Deep Breaths by Patsui 2021-04-28T20:46:55Z

Really fun, unexpected take on the theme, and gorgeous looking. I kinda expected the breathing in and out to be sort of a rhythm thing though - having too hold each for so long didn't really work too well for me. Great game overall though!

Underneath by HumanIsRed 2021-04-27T19:38:31Z

Love it,really well executed concept. I especially like the little intro. I kinda want the soundtrack

Crypto-mine Disaster by Doc Kaos 2021-04-30T17:53:30Z

The audio is the stand-out element of this game, great music and fun sound effects. I especially like the title audio  There's a lot of issues with the UI but the game itself is pretty fun, quite manic.

LD55 — Summoning

Echos of Players Past by Jezzamon 2024-04-16T15:02:21Z

Thank you Ghost of Rob, the only player who I really vibed with.

Really interesting idea and I loved the aspect of picking a different part of the music for each player.

Echos of Players Past by Jezzamon 2024-04-16T15:34:57Z

@jezzamon I though it was a bit weird that there were only three categories! I added my ratings for the rest now.

From Hell's Heart by randomhuman 2024-04-16T20:24:48Z

@nusan The mouse is supposed to be captured and the pointer hidden, so the mouse should work like a controller basically. Are you on Windows? Unfortunately I didn't get a chance to test on Windows...

Sorry you encountered so many bugs!

A Tale of Six Rites by graebor 2024-04-16T15:10:25Z

Wow so stylish, amazing art and music!

Summon a Succubus by fullmontis 2024-04-17T11:27:56Z

Confusing initially but pretty cool once I figured out what to do. Also nice reward at the end!

Path of Aratron by nusan 2024-04-18T21:01:18Z

Programming for fun? Unheard of

Looks and sounds great and makes you think, nicely done.

Alien Summoner by harusame 2024-04-21T12:56:57Z

This is great! Deceptively easy at the beginning but it becomes quite challenging over time. The music is amazing, really adds to the excitement.

Dark Roast Cafè by outstar 2024-04-17T18:45:49Z

Gorgeous! I'm amazed at how much you managed to incorporate and how polished you made it. I added a second table but the people who sat at it never got served - not sure if I did something wrong or if it is a bug. But I managed to pay off my debt pretty handily anyway by exploiting the cheapest of cheap demons >:)

If Only by Le Slo 2024-04-19T11:18:36Z

This is tough, I like it!

The Alumnus Of Darkness by mremmele 2024-04-16T14:27:24Z

Gorgeous art, archers are a bit OP.

Djinn's Call by allenski 2024-04-18T15:18:09Z

Really great, I love the look of it and the puzzles. I'm not sure all the mechanics were introduced well though, I think I breezed through the level that introduced "waiting" and when I needed it on the first level with the lamp I had forgotten I could do that and couldn't get in sync with my djinn dudes to exit. I will be giving it another go though because it's really well put together otherwise and the levels that I got to so far were a decent challenge.

Demanager by satacat 2024-04-23T18:04:32Z

Good game. I was nearly at the end before I realised that the summoning circle colour (and letters?) is also a clue, before that I had a few that seemed unfair because there was an exact match for the items that was wrong. I also didn't really get much out of the tapes - I guess each entity has a sound associated with them, but because I only listened to the tapes when I was stuck I didn't pick up the associations. My fault really, since the intro did tell me to listen to them!

Gravediver by echerry 2024-04-19T11:06:19Z

Really nice art but I feel like I must be missing something with regard to figuring out the crafting recipes...

Throes of the Javelin by MatterLinx 2024-04-22T17:35:54Z

Beautiful graphics and audio. A bit too hard for me but that's not a criticism, I just suck. A very well put together and polished game with a unique core mechanic.

Butler! Summon the Imps! by jummbus 2024-04-17T19:03:33Z

Wow amazing!

Impatient God by dardasaba 2024-04-16T14:47:31Z

LD57 — Depths

Lovely, Dark and Deep by randomhuman 2025-04-08T12:56:34Z

@halfdanthevillain Thanks! No there's no end. I figured death would be inevitable eventually and the distance traveled would serve as a score, but depending on how the numbers work out it might be a bit too easy for that!

Treasurefall by Local Minimum 2025-04-09T20:16:11Z

Having the dice be your health, attack and movement is really clever. I liked this a lot.

IRON FIST by KirLosev 2025-04-10T20:07:41Z

The Case of the Dungeon Descent by celia14 2025-04-19T15:37:25Z

This is great! I loved uncovering the story piece by piece across the three time periods, and the combination of a little bit of art and the dialogue really brings it to life.

Drill Crew by lectvs 2025-04-20T14:17:48Z

Very fun, I love the infinite jumping  The gems were very annoying as they accumulated, I wished there was a way to stow them so I wouldn't keep picking them up when repairing stuff.

Tidehold by outstar 2025-04-19T15:00:13Z

Nice, I enjoyed this a lot. Looks and sounds great as well. I didn't really bother with protecting anything, I just rebuilt what was destroyed if necessary, and having things lose access to O2 didn't seem to stop them producing, so it could maybe use something to make the attacks more impactful, but other than that, great gameplay and I was compelled to play it to the end.

Pack by Jeremy Ryan 2025-04-13T11:15:50Z

Really lovely and chill, I enjoyed it a lot.

Cave Glider by detectiveLosos 2025-04-10T18:53:29Z

Phew, that's intense! I'm terrible at it but it is really fun. I love the graphics and cave design and the audio really sells the sensation of speed.

SINKING by xWilQ 2025-04-08T20:40:43Z

I like how frantic this is. I didn't figure out what I was supposed to do once I got to the tower though so I just waited for death.

Cheese is the Reason by AXLplosion 2025-04-13T10:59:41Z

Very fun, so much personality and the mood and aesthetics are impeccable.

Upstream by Skvader_418 2025-04-08T16:15:32Z

Damn, gets really tough on level 2. I'm glad I had my fellas to take the brunt of it.

Faith-e-vator by BadPiggy 2025-04-12T14:59:03Z

Damn that's really good, so satisfying to whack those demons. I especially like how the music comes in, I was worried it was going to be silent, but then the music kicked in and it rocks 🤘

Darkest Depths by rrsmtz 2025-04-08T20:22:34Z

Really good, music makes it feel really tense and sells the action without it having to be portrayed graphically.

Lunglight by alpacalypse 2025-04-15T14:14:19Z

That's a surprisingly satisfying way to pilot a craft! Very spooky and compelling game.

The Scourge from the Deep by Wuppos 2025-04-15T13:50:18Z

Looks great and a decent challenge, kept me coming back until I beat it. Forgot to note my time though!

Burrilka by echerry 2025-04-20T14:47:06Z

Amazing - gorgeous art, atmospheric music and sound effects, compelling gameplay, and a good pace of introduction of new elements which were quite easy to understand intuitively. Presenting the instructions the way you did was very clever, added to the immersion. And very fun dialogue/voice acting.

If I had a complaint it is that the substations come up too quick, I was saved by them a couple of times where I feel like I should have lost - but I suppose it is a good level of difficulty for a jam game.

Probably one of my favourites I've played, really well done.

Abyss Prison by EpicGameFan 2025-04-09T20:44:22Z

Damn, had to bust out the pen and paper for this one  Really well done, a decent series of challenges.

Resurface by r8teful 2025-04-19T16:42:34Z

Really satisfying gameplay loop, I enjoyed this a lot. I didn't find I needed all that many upgrades to reach the surface, so maybe could use a few more levels to encourage that aspect of it a bit more. Atmosphere is really nice with the music and the mining sound effects are just right to make it feel satisfying.

Explodicaves by ThatFirey 2025-04-09T11:21:24Z

Nice, very fun. Boss fight is quite tough but I got through it eventually and it was very satisfying.

DORFS by pro4 2025-04-19T16:06:21Z

Very satisfying, there's the foundation of a really good idle game here, but as you know yourself it runs out of things to build towards a bit too quickly. It could use some sound effects. I like the art style.

Deep Chat by iphelf 2025-04-16T13:58:50Z

Very interesting idea. I did very badly on my first try and smashed it on my second.

Deep Protocol by elykx 2025-04-19T14:05:20Z

Difficult to grasp at first but I found it pretty cool once I figured out what was going on (thanks @gdman). It could have used something to make it clearer when it was my turn and what effects the enemy nodes were having. I liked the hand-drawn art a lot.

27°59′17″N 86°55′30″E by Akinat0 2025-04-12T15:10:33Z

Looks great but there's not much to the gameplay. I just went straight to all the points and won.

Descend by Placeholders 2025-04-08T20:48:02Z

Very atmospheric and I love the minimalist art, and chasing the little guys around.

Return to Darkness by T4RAN 2025-04-20T14:27:05Z

Oh boy, gave me a bit of a spook at the end there! Good game with a nice atmosphere. I liked that I could choose where I wanted to go so I could come in the top or sides of a chamber depending on what enemies I could see.

What the bag! by Mamboman 2025-04-18T15:33:04Z

Wow that's a charming game! I love the little vocalisations.

Took me a few tries to get top marks because I didn't understand you could put things inside other things the first time, and because that banana is so delicate. It took quite a beating on my first try.

North Depths by voidsrc 2025-04-12T16:33:28Z

Extremely addictive and really gorgeous to look at and listen to. I think some of the prices are off though. You can buy 20 workers for the same amount of ice as a mecha, and it seems like they would do over twice as much work? It's a minor complaint though.

Blurred Escape by pizzabudet420 2025-04-08T16:02:23Z

Nice little escape room, great creepy vibes.

You Know the Drill! by ludokai 2025-04-10T11:01:53Z

That's a very addictive game loop! I would still be playing if I hadn't run out of upgrades to buy. Looks and sounds great as well.

LD41 — Combine 2 Incompatible Genres

Splendid Adventures on a Sunday Afternoon by blinry 2018-04-25T17:26:54Z

I'm not sure where to start with my praise for this, it's such an excellent idea and so well executed. I love the hand-drawn (or seemingly so?) art and the way the words are arranged around it gives extra life to both. The music is the perfect compliment to them as well. It really feels like moving around inside a book. I guess my only criticism would be that I wanted to see every page, and not being able to undo a choice made that difficult at times :stuck_out_tongue:

Dark Soil by Pietro Ferrantelli 2018-04-29T18:26:53Z

I only got to level 39, but I had a blast! The combat in this game is incredibly satisfying, and there is an impressive variety of enemies and weapons. The pixel art is great, very alive and fun, great colours, with a good separation between gameplay and background elements. The music is also fantastic. If I had to criticise something I guess it would be that the weapons didn't really seem to have any difference between them gameplay wise, and it would be a nice addition to allow some choices there. Other than that I really have nothing negative to say, I loved this game!

Heart of the Cards by Neon 2018-05-02T14:10:07Z

This is fun! The graphics are very cute, especially the way the enemies walk. There could do with being some more environmental details, but it is understandable that their isn't considering this is a compo entry.

On the gameplay front, the only real problem is that the aiming feels a little off - I guess there is some ideal distance at which you will hit an enemy in the centre of the screen, but if they are too close you have to aim slightly left. I also think the card element is underdeveloped in favour of the FPS side of the gameplay. I think in most card based games you would be able to choose from a selection of cards each turn, and it would be really cool to see something like that introduced to this game, if you continue to develop it, along with more card types, more status effects, cards that act on the player etc.

Overall, a very nice looking game in which I can see a lot of potential, good work!

Goal and Crossbones by SkullPixel 2018-04-27T21:02:23Z

The art is really cute in this. I guess my only criticism would be that there are some balancing or progression issues, I had a long run of levels where I really only had to run straight to the goal. However, It is a great idea and I had a lot of fun, and it can be quite challenging on more complex levels and when the fast enemies appear. I love the little trails after the fast moving characters. Good work!

Guerrilla Gardening by randomhuman 2018-04-25T17:35:31Z

@detectiveLosos A tutorial is definitely going to be the first thing I add post-jam! Thanks for playing!

Guerrilla Gardening by randomhuman 2018-04-25T17:37:15Z

@Re-Markable Thank you! I hope to expand on it a bit in a post-jam version, but then I say that about all of my LD entries, and I've only made good on that for one of them so far... But I have a lot of ideas for this one, so we will see

Guerrilla Gardening by randomhuman 2018-04-25T17:41:06Z

@Gavin-Camlin Thanks, glad you enjoyed! I had a "hurt" animation in that basically just flashed the player pink a bit, but it gets overridden immediately by any other animation - not sure how to layer them like in Unity. But yeah it is definitely insufficient as it is. Thanks for the feedback

Guerrilla Gardening by randomhuman 2018-04-25T17:42:26Z

@hatchet Thank you very much! I've had a few complaints about the camera, definitely need to tone that down a bit.

Guerrilla Gardening by randomhuman 2018-04-25T17:52:15Z

Hey @blinry good to see you buddy! Glad you enjoyed the game!

Guerrilla Gardening by randomhuman 2018-04-28T18:59:46Z

@GameDevMumin Those are exactly the features I had planned for the first post-jam version :D

Guerrilla Gardening by randomhuman 2018-05-04T17:20:24Z

@Lost-Dutchman-Software My bad ;)

Birder x Runner by Local Minimum 2018-04-26T18:38:47Z

Number 1 runner and birder x runner!! This game is definitely a challenge, and it's great to have a scoreboard to climb. The audio is very atmospheric, but I feel that the art is very basic and not up to your usual standard - the elements are discordant, but not in a way that I would recognise as thematically relevant.

It is a fun game anyway, it made me want to excel at it!

Railgear by Hadik 2018-05-02T15:34:24Z

Hawaii forever! Nice relaxing game. It could benefit a lot from some sound and music, but the art is really nice and stopping the train exactly right is very satisfying. It does need some other gameplay elements to remain engaging longer term though, as it really only gets easier over time. I'm not really sure what to suggest, though it sounds like you have some ideas of your own.

Railgear by Hadik 2018-05-02T15:35:44Z

Oh yeah I meant to point out that the max speed upgrade doesn't seem to work as advertised, the acceleration upgrade seems to also increase the max speed.

Crowdsurf by Joe Cowman 2018-04-25T19:40:51Z

Performance anxiety the game! Really clever idea, but I found the strategy that worked for me was to just brainstorm word association nonsense with rhyming words on the end :P Maybe that's an apt critique of modern pop music.

BunkerDefense by UnlikelyNomad 2018-04-28T19:15:23Z

I got a javascript error in the web build when I was trying to upgrade a turret early on, and the mac build seems to start with the help menu already activated, but won't accept any input. It looks really interesting and I love the audio, but I can't really rate based on what I can play of it.

FAST CRASH by tweedle 2018-04-28T16:59:12Z

Really great aesthetic, both art and music. I was hopeless at the trivia because of the subject, but I can understand you had to narrow it down to a single thing. I managed to survive for quite a while just collecting the cash off the road. I honestly didn't find the driving part to be too much of a challenge or distraction from the trivia - using the laser is not that punishing and also pretty much required in many cases where there is no viable way to dodge the obstacles, and the whole thing is too slow moving to really take your mind off the trivia effectively. Good game overall though.

Barcelona Secret Party by yscik 2018-05-08T20:11:26Z

Very colourful and fun, and I really liked the music. It was a bit unexpected for me that you could actually hide in the houses from the police, and also once they are on your tail on the streets they seem to never lose you. It would be great also if there was a scoring system, after a few houses I kind of lost interest a bit, but I can tell that with just a few more little hooks I would be compulsively trying to get every house in the grid hopping!

Jeff From Accounting by Almax 2018-05-03T13:29:29Z

Really excellent mashup of genres, and I love the environment art. The enemies are a bit floaty and silent, and there could be some effects for when they die, but the gameplay mechanics are solid, fun, and original.

Cropshots by DavidPIxel 2018-04-28T16:37:11Z

Top notch - great art - everything nice and bouncy and fun, great concept, well polished, good music choice. But my favourite aspect was how the different plants required different strategies to deal with them. The only thing I'm not sure how I feel about is how quickly the crops disappear after they fruit, it feels a little bit unfair, and doesn't leave a lot of scope for strategically picking up and planting more seeds because you really have to be ready to harvest right away. Great game overall though, definitely one of the best I've played.

My Witch Shop (unfinished) by tinyworlds 2018-04-25T15:39:17Z

What's there is really gorgeous and feels great to play. The concept sounded interesting as well, it's a shame you didn't get to implement it fully. I failed to complete my entry for an LD a while back so I know how it feels!

Love Love! Space Attack by Random-storykeeper 2018-04-28T17:25:12Z

This is a really great combination. I didn't get anywhere close to a win condition, if there is one, but I was really compelled to get to the next question! I also couldn't help myself from choosing some of the less than optimal responses ha ha! The shooter side of it is well implemented, though the ship is perhaps a little slow to accelerate. I couldn't get past the squidy guys, but I had a lot of fun with this.

Restructive by aeveis 2018-05-10T10:08:23Z

That's so cute. I enjoyed the rebuilding as much as the destroying, but I was a bit disappointed when I went back to mom and she suggested I wasn't done. I tried my best damnit!

Xenoperil: You Must Survive by tyranosaw 2018-04-26T10:12:38Z

That art is absolutely gorgeous - great silhouettes and bold monochromatic scenes that, along with the excellent music, really evoke a different mood for each activity. On the other hand, the interactivity is a little bit lacking - it could use more audio and visual feedback for the clicks, and a lot more indication of how the difficulty is increasing and how the upgrades are helping to counter that difficulty. Also, if death is inevitable, as I think it is (?), a scoring system and some scope for approaching the game strategically would increase the replayability a lot.

Overall a really great entry, and I look forward to seeing more from you guys in the future.

Tower Hopper by crazi456 2018-05-02T21:07:14Z

Really nice art, great colour choices. Music is really great as well. I really enjoyed the gameplay - there are other tower defence/platformer combos in the jam, but I haven't seen any where you platform *as* the towers! My only criticisms are that it wasn't clear to me what was causing damage to my towers, and the upgrades don't hang around quite long enough. There is also a bug that causes the game to become unplayable if a tower drops off the bottom of the level. Great entry overall though, I hope you will give feedback on some other games to draw attention to to it.

The Legend of Block by maesk 2018-04-29T18:19:12Z

That's a nice little puzzler. I found one viable solution that was disallowed for some reason, which caused me a bit of confusion, but once I got past that I really got into it. I would have liked to see more levels and more challenging puzzles, but what is there is well executed. Good job!

Roulette Knight by Finlal 2018-05-02T17:59:52Z

So gooood! The art is absolutely gorgeous and the gameplay seems to be incredibly deep - perhaps a little too difficult at the beginning - and very addictive. I think the music is a little bit too light and cheerful. I guess it is quite a humorous concept, but something more tense might be better. Really great overall though, incredible work!

Sneaky Beats by gamesplusjames 2018-04-28T18:19:47Z

It took me a long time to get the hang of those patterns, but then I do suck at rhythm games - and I definitely appreciated that there were only a limited selection of them! I also really appreciated the way game mechanics were introduced, it is rare to see this amount of thought put into that in a jam game, so it really stands out. The art is simple but stylish. I really liked the audio on the rhythm part, especially the "picking up an electric guitar" noise when you first enter it, but I think some other sound effects for the rest of the game would have been nice. Overall a really great combination of genres and a fun game.

Rogue Princess by ladybenko 2018-05-02T19:37:05Z

I love the bright, colourful graphics! It took me a few tries to figure out the strategy, so it felt a bit like a puzzle game. I'm not sure if that was your intention.. I really enjoyed it anyway, though the music was a bit repetitive.

Felocity by Adam Wallberg 2018-04-25T21:42:27Z

Fun! I really love the art and music. I'm not sure about having to pick up the guns as you go and then only getting a single shot, it makes it quite tricky to get food...

Remember or Die by GameDevMumin 2018-04-28T21:13:51Z

I really like the idea of this, and the simple, bold graphics are very effective. However, it is far too difficult for me. Part of that is due to my terrible memory, but I think a range of different grid sizes would be an ideal way to make this more accessible.

Witchbeat by dragonxvi 2018-04-27T22:03:14Z

I can't believe this is a compo game, it is so well thought out and polished. The art especially is gorgeous, and very readable. Hitting the attacks felt really satisfying when I got into the rhythm, and very frustrating when I was missing it! I think that is the norm for rhythm games though, and I suck at them. I did find that I could just hammer the z key if I was stuck and that got me by. The writing was great, very funny stuff :) The music was nice, but a but short, it started to get on my nerves a bit after a while. Overall a really great entry!

Super Antithesis Kart by Lameosine 2018-04-27T18:15:03Z

Hilarious, the first really good comedy game that I've seen this jam, and also probably the game that puts the best emphasis on the "incompatible" part of the theme. Love that narration! Good job!

Cardcade by Simon Rahnasto 2018-04-26T17:19:47Z

Wow, so much content in this game! The sound effects, music and graphics are all really great, and work well together to create an epic, fast paced mood. The gameplay is a lot of fun, but something feels a bit off about how the aiming is handled given how closely the enemies trail you. Some of the cards were quite hard to use because of this as well (spikes, boulder), though on my second play through I realised there was a lot of synergy between those and the teleport card - create some distance with teleport and then drop a rock on 'em! I didn't get a chance to try it, but I definitely appreciate the thought that went into the deck, in this and other synergies.

Overall a really excellent entry, good work team!

Grid Gunner by SuperTibbles 2018-05-03T13:50:11Z

Fantastic stuff, really demonstrates how simple, effective art can be elevated with some carefully chosen effects. The gameplay feels frantic despite being turn based, which I think is accentuated by the music, which has just the right rhythm. My favourite part was the incredibly insightful tips :) Really great work overall!

Cinema Drive by Texou31 2018-04-27T17:52:04Z

Great concept, really illustrates the dangers of driving distracted! I just wish there was an option to continue after my inevitable death, I've heard how happy she is to be coming to the cinema with us a few times now. It's great that there is a bit of life in the portraits, they could have been static but they are jumping around and changing and stuff the whole time, I like it.

You Can't Dodge Your Feelings! by Autumnotopia 2018-05-02T18:32:20Z

Interesting idea. I guess the jump was for the final scene? However, by that point I had been trained to duck, so that is what I did, and it didn't seem to matter. Nice little story, great art and dialogue.

Check, Please! by swav_gav 2018-05-04T13:29:07Z

Very fun, I really like the way the intro and game over are blended with the game environment. The physics are a little bit wonky even for this type of game but it didn't impact my fun. The art is really great with a nicely unified palette. I guess it could have been clearer when I was failing or winning? I think I succeeded at the meatballs bit and that was the end of the game, but I'm not entirely sure from the feedback the game gave me. Great entry overall anyway.

Definition of a Ghuest by Sand-Gardeners 2018-04-28T14:43:09Z

In terms of game genres I guess you've combined a visual novel with a walking simulator, or perhaps TWO visual novels with a walking simulator, as well as situating one of narratives as a movie within the game, so that is really quite interesting. My main criticism would be that the text moves a bit slowly for me, but perhaps that contributes to the sense of ennui and impotent frustration that the gameplay evokes. It might actually be nice if the choices in the "movie" controlled the camera and took you where they described. As it was, I just walked around the room a bit and then stopped and just did the text stuff. Overall a really successful experimental mood piece. Good work!

FLOOR IT! by LERPish 2018-04-25T19:09:21Z

That's fun, very moreish! I really liked the art and the music was a fun choice.

Jump, Push, Match by ElGregos 2018-05-07T10:03:11Z

Some of these puzzles are really tough, but as a result very satisfying when you figure them out! I did also skip a few though, because I am dumb. I really love the cute character animation and melodic footstep sounds. Great game overall!

Pivit by travm 2018-05-02T13:29:04Z

The graphics are very stylish and the concept is unique and interesting. However, I didn't really feel like I had a lot of control over what was going on, which I guess is kind of a feature of pinball! I would definitely be interested in seeing what features you had planned for this that you weren't able to implement.

Welcome to Mars by NoAim91 2018-04-24T12:21:41Z

Just a black screen for me on a Mac, unfortunately, with music playing. I can press enter and it plays music. I will check back when you have the web build.

Welcome to Mars by NoAim91 2018-04-25T15:27:55Z

It worked for me this time! I really like the concept and the colour scheme on the UI, and the choice of music was really great. However, I couldn't get very far because, as others have mentioned, most of the required buildings become unbuildable very quickly.

Type-Zero by Hopeen 2018-05-02T14:27:13Z

4:12:30. Man, I suck. I didn't really like the way the car drifted after a turn, it always seemed to put me into the rough. I really only used left and right commands, maybe I need to experiment a bit with braking and accelerating and stuff. Anyway, this is a great interpretation of the theme and the music choice is really great.

Carmagotchi by Re-Markable 2018-04-25T16:02:43Z

The music is definitely the highlight here, very fun  The gameplay is a bit unbalanced as others have said. It could probably do with more depth and less waiting. I crashed straight into a rock in the middle of the road, but the car is only slightly unhappy and my biggest expense is fuel! It might actually have been more tamagotchi-like to have free things you could do with the car while in the garage.

Scoop by BryceLTaylor 2018-05-04T12:22:23Z

I like the character art and animation, but the upscaled background art does not look so good. The concept behind the core gameplay mechanics is cool, but I found the actual text entry interface a bit confusing - the textbox often didn't clear as I would expect and I wasn't sure if my input was being accepted. The robots were also not much of a threat, it was pretty easy to give them the run around. I was also able to sit right between the "boss" robot and his screen while I transcribed their convo, which was pretty funny.

Honest Dan's Trout by Honest Dan 2018-04-28T15:30:08Z

I really like how the the two aspects of this game fight against each other in a very explicit way, but in a way that makes it more fun rather than less, it's very clever. The graphics are clean and readable, which is what you really need in this kind of game. I like that you put the effort into making a logo for it! The music is really great - I thought it was going to be quite simplistic, and then the deep bassy version kicked in! Really great entry overall.

Peculiar Adventures of Dorothy Hops by detectiveLosos 2018-04-25T14:51:04Z

Mmmm, dat parallax... What a great concept! Truly incompatible, yet really enjoyable when you get the hang of it  It was a good idea to include a tutorial, good work squeezing that in. If there is a way to avoid the rogues without having sweet bread I couldn't find it, so my main causes of death were falling in puddles and getting stabbed by rogues.

Darkade by hatchet 2018-04-25T16:34:40Z

Wooah, that is quite the experience! I'm not even sure if I got to the end or not? Really great atmosphere and puzzles, and just an amazing amount of content and polish for the time you had. I really felt immersed in this world!

Shuffle Climber by miroky 2018-04-28T15:54:09Z

This is a great looking game and it has a great concept behind it. However, depending on chance to deliver the cards you need to progress makes it quite frustrating at times, and really removes any element of skill I think. I wish I had a suggestion for how to fix this, but if you can figure it out I would really like to play an expanded version of this on mobile.

Shuffle Climber by miroky 2018-04-28T17:29:52Z

@NorthernHawk Fair enough, I will play it a bit longer and see if I can figure out a strategy. I look forward to trying it on mobile, that is good to hear!

Tsun Tsun Button Mash by Team Infernus 2018-05-07T16:20:45Z

I do think this could have benefited from more immediate feedback to clicks, like a little bit of animation, or a dollar (sorry, sorry waifubucks) amount right where you clicked, but it is a pretty fun & funny game. I like that've actually actually kind of got two approaches to the theme. Like narratively you've got the opposites of romance and "abuse", but maybe also the gameplay genres of dating sim and clicker game. Art is good, which is important for a game like this of course!

Heartache by Oivin F 2018-04-27T13:38:45Z

I really love the colour choices, and keeping the palette limited as you have is really effective. There's a few minor control issues I would say - up to switch towers made me want to hit down to go back through them! I was also hitting off the platform edges. But those aside, this game is a lot of fun, and quite addictive!

Numbness by Velocity7 2018-05-13T11:34:08Z

That's a pretty cool combination of genres. A good improvement would be to have more and faster paced enemies so that dodging and quick aiming would become essential. The enemies that are there are a bit plodding and easy to pick off - I basically just parked the princess while I dealt with them and then carried on again.

I'm not sure what to do about the mix of prefab and new assets. The audio in particular does create a good mood though, and I like the transitions and stuff in the intro.

Moth and Bat by Samuel Qian 2018-05-02T13:06:05Z

Beautiful art, music and story. I especially liked how the background art changed over time and the music at the end. I found it a bit difficult to predict how bat, in particular, was going to behave, which I think is the root of the game's difficulty for me. I'm glad you included a option that enabled me to see the entire story, though once I activated it I actually didn't hit any obstacles!

Dungeon Racers by ZargarTheBarbar 2018-05-03T13:00:54Z

The controls are not really as advertised, and I found the game very hard to play, which is unfortunate because I love the premise, the art, the music, and the level design looks really great. The inclusion of a spread attack was clever, because it was my only hope of hitting anything!

Golden Beak Golf by McCordinator 2018-04-29T15:16:01Z

It's a neat concept, but it's quite tough to make progress by either golfing or flapping. I basically hit every obstacle on the way to the hole on each of my three or four playthroughs, except for one that I managed to fly through. Part of the problem is the gaps are too small and part is that there seems to be a bit of a lag between pressing Z and the power/lift meters registering the input.

JUMP & RUN by Maxence 2018-05-03T14:01:53Z

I'm not sure this is complete enough to be considered a game, but props for creating something and submitting anyway. I hope you will try again in future Ludum Dares.

@Hyohane The controls are likely based on an AZERTY keyboard layout, where the equivalent of WASD is ZQSD.

TnT: Tracks 'n Towers by TheCze 2018-05-08T21:42:33Z

I think this is my favourite of the tower defence hybrids that I have played. The balance of the towers and wave size feels very good, like I was always at risk of being overpowered, and having to do laps in a car is definitely incompatible! But having the car also be a weapon is a nice way of bringing the two genres together. Unfortunately I think the car feels a bit slippy - not so much that you can't get used to it for the plain track of level 1, but when I saw level 2 I knew it was going to be a disaster. Good work overall though, I found this really compelling.

Gun Appetit! by Nyunesu 2018-04-27T12:32:18Z

That's super tough! I loved the art, and the music was an excellent choice as well. I found some aspects of the gameplay quite confusing - initially I thought I was supposed to be matching what each zombie was thinking about, but then that seemed to not matter, and any successful recipe just gave me a bunch of bullets. Also I read in a comment here that the ingredients had to be in order, which might explain why several times that I thought I had all the ingredients right, nothing happened. I feel like this game could benefit from being a little more forgiving, but it is really fun anyway. Also, excellent intro!

Dead man's hand by ItPlay 2018-05-02T17:33:46Z

Very cool idea. A bit frustrating when you need a search card and none is dealt for multiple turns. It would also be nice to have some indication of where the extraction point is once you've set off the flare. Fun game though, very atmospheric.

Sadie's Stabby Sword Story by Elowan 2018-04-28T18:56:43Z

Sooooo much fun. There are a few issues with the gameplay area and controls which I think you are aware of at this point, but this is definitely one of the most fun and original entries I've played, and the art is awesome as well.

Dangerous Fields by Gavin Camlin 2018-04-25T16:09:43Z

All I get is a black screen on a mac :frowning2: If I play it windowed it is black and flickery instead. I can click around an it makes a sound effect.

Dangerous Fields by Gavin Camlin 2018-04-25T16:43:09Z

@Gavin Camlin I get the Unity splash, but it is black from then on... I'm on a mid-2014 15 inch Retina Macbook pro, if that helps, NVidia GeForce GT 750M graphics card. No worries if you can't get it working, these things happen.

RPG Clicker by MercuryBD 2018-05-02T18:21:26Z

Congratulations on completing your first LD game! I really liked this game, but it is a bit unbalanced as you already know. I didn't mind the music but I found the talking sound incredibly annoying - maybe try something less high pitched next time. The art was really great and the combat mechanics felt just right for a clicker game.

Mojojo by ZakAmana 2018-05-02T18:49:40Z

OMG adorbs <3 The character art and animation is top notch, as are the lighting and visual effects. The music is fantastic, I was bopping along to it the whole time I was playing. Everything in this game has so much life and energy it can't help but make you feel good. Great work!

Late for Love by Gaze Team 2018-05-02T19:22:31Z

There's lots of fantastic details in the art of this game, like the lights on the car and on the character portrait. It really captured the mood of driving at night. Just excellent art in every respect really. I especially liked the colour choices, quite similar to those I chose for my own game, but put to much better use here :) I really liked the story as well, but if there were supposed to be alternate endings I couldn't find any way of getting the second one without crashing. My only real criticism of this game is that sometimes after clicking a dialogue choice the car controls didn't want to accept my input, which was quite frustrating. Perhaps on mobile, which this game seems to be intended for, this would not be a factor.

Great game overall, well done!

PROJECTIME by Bauxite 2018-04-24T11:24:29Z

Very pretty game with gorgeous sound effects. It's a bit tough with the firing patterns of the enemies not leaving a lot of room for error, but it is satisfying when you manage to make a hit. The quick restart is really good, and makes for some compelling play.

Witch's Escape by cristiano.m.garcia 2018-05-03T18:23:31Z

Nice game. I was just getting bored with the single button sequences when the two-button sequences began to appear - I would say they should maybe start a bit sooner. Missing the sequence for the spike pit did not seem to have any negative effect, which I'm sure is just a minor bug. The graphics are great but the knight animations could use some up & down motion, like the witch has. Music and sound are also great. Good work overall!
