LD34 — Two Button Controls / Growing

HamsterX by UntitledQ 2015-12-16T01:35:00

Such a clever concept, and executed brilliantly. It was a bit finnicky attaching the boosters where you want them, but I suppose that was part of the charm.

Space Wars (browser game) by AntonyBaasan 2015-12-15T08:56:00

Same with the Application Error

EarthWard by luke 2015-12-15T09:04:00

I really enjoyed the overall aesthetic of the game. The art was charming and the soundtrack suited it perfectly.

It 'felt' really good to play, with the jetpack controls being enjoyable the gun reasonably responsive. I also thought that the variety in enemies was pretty good, I especially enjoyed the shielded enemies. I liked having to worry about both your own health and the health of the Earth, that added a nice extra level of complexity.

All up, a really very impressive game for the short time in which it was made, I really enjoyed the time I spent in it.

Tale Of Two Buttons by RevelBase 2015-12-16T00:51:00

Very nice concept and cute art style. Perhaps a clearer difference between the two buttons would've been nice though, as I regularly found myself forgetting which was which. The controls were a bit hard to get used to and I feel like it took a bit too long to switch the character's positions, which meant doing so was a bit of a chore and often got me killed.
I also discovered that spamming y+x together allowed me to fly over the entire map, which was fun!
Overall a really neat concept for a puzzle game and one that was rather enjoyable, good work!

The King is Dead by Capitals 2015-12-16T00:55:00

Cool concept, it's like you've invented a new board game which is neat! It was definitely a challenging game, and some kind of sound would've been nice to give feedback to the player, but overall it's a very impressive effort for such a short time.

WALKER by piper82 2015-12-15T09:44:00

This was a nice throwback to the point and click adventures of yesteryear, which were always a favourite genre of mine. The art style is VERY reminiscent of that type of game, and the music is perfect. The biggest complaint is (and I'm sure you're sick of hearing this) the slow walking speed, which sadly made parts of this game a little bit laborious (i.e. walking back and forth between the same screens.)

Likewise, I have to agree that it didn't really fit either of the two themes from what I saw, but was still a really solid attempt. I look forward to seeing a post-jam version!

You should stop putting yourself down so much - what you did was the hardest step in becoming a game developer; you developed a game! Sure, you may have adapted a game that already existed, but you made it work - and work well. The controls took a bit of getting used to, but worked as advertised. Overall, you took a great first step and I can't wait to see what comes from you in later jams. Good luck to you and congratulations!

Szczypce by Ret44 2015-12-16T01:05:00

Neat concept with a really nice artistic style, and very challenging gameplay. Sound design could use a bit of work, but other than that it's a very solid game for the jam! Nice work!

High-rise Vine by Gipzo 2015-12-15T10:24:00

A fun idea with a really interesting and unique control scheme! It took a while to get used to the control scheme, but once I did it was surprisingly intuitive and responsive. Definitely enjoyable, and although I didn't get the chance to check out the local-coop I bet it'd be a lot of fun (although it would probably break my keyboard ;) )

The Procrastinator by martim00 2015-12-16T01:26:00

Nice retro aesthetic and a funny concept, but the controls were very floaty, and also not really two-button so it didn't really fit the theme. Still a very impressive and entertaining game!

Velociraptor Cyborg Post Apokalypse! by LadyS 2015-12-16T01:22:00

What an experience! I have no idea how you made this in 72 hours. It was sometimes a bit hard to work out what I was meant to be doing in each chapter, but it was still damn impressive.

ROUND THINGS X SHARP THINGS by plauk 2015-12-15T09:34:00

Really neat concept! The ultra-minimalist art and sounds really work well together to create an enjoyable, relaxing experience. I agree with everyone else that the colour palette is delicious!

FLOW by Romixal 2015-12-15T10:14:00

There are definitely the building blocks of a neat experience here, with nice sound design and a cool aesthetic, it just feels a bit barren in its current state, though I suppose that was kinda deliberate.

The Wild Flower's Song by NidzaKornjaca 2015-12-15T09:52:00

Asides from a few glitches here and there with credits appearing randomly on the screen on top of themselves, this was a really nice, relaxing, meditative experience. One of the most relaxing games I've played in a long time... overall extremely pleasant. Thanks for the experience and beautiful poetry!

Nunsaram by jangdan 2015-12-15T10:02:00

Really cute concept and a nice art-style to boot! The snowman's sad face when he got caught by the kids made me sad :(
Some kind of in-game tutorial would've been kinda useful (unless there was one and I missed it) because I spent a while pressing every button on my keyboard before realising I should use my mouse!

Overall a lovely concept, tied to the theme nicely and executed well. Thanks for the experience!

Tycho Recon by NoradZero 2015-12-16T01:12:00

Nice concept! Very difficult game though - maybe some kind of health system rather than immediate explosions would've been nice. Music was awesome.

Chicken Spin by RSquarStudios 2015-12-15T09:28:00

I loved the adorable little chicken, as well as the overall art style of the game. The rotation of the planet and the chicken felt REALLY nice, and gave a great sense of speed. The gameplay itself was enjoyable and responsive, though obviously a bit limited (but with a limited time that's no real problem!) I liked how the difficulty ramped up, and enjoyed my time spent in Chicken Spin.

Nice work!

Repulsion by DieBackStudios 2015-12-15T09:15:00

I played a LOT of this game - which is a good thing! I was terrible at the start but it definitely motivated me to keep trying, to get to know the controls better and to beat my highscore. A really good score-attack game, and I think it would work really well on mobile devices!

I still don't quite understand the growing/shrinking mechanics though - but that might just be because I'm dumb!

Great work!

Chompatron Saves The World by Tim Ruswick 2015-12-16T01:29:00

Hilarious concept, and executed well. Controls were a bit loose though.

Herballistic by Neoludo 2015-12-15T10:04:00

Hi @Marod, I'm so sorry something is broken - I don't suppose you could let me know what happens when you try to run the exe? I tested it on as many computers as I could and didn't run into any issues yet.

Riding on Cars! by SuperPokeunicorn 2015-12-16T01:01:00

Clever use of two buttons to control the game, though the controls weren't immediately obvious as to how to use them, after playing around a bit I did get used to them.
The graphics were solid, and the concept was clever. All up, a very nice entry.
