Coool. I won! I feel like a champ!
gg
Really cool. The interface is intuitive... would like to see a longer game like this.
Really cool.
This is the best thing ever.
Awesome.
Super fun! Wooo!
Nice art. I had a little trouble with the controls, though.
I was a bit concerned about the rude shape that was emerging as I played, and then a realised it was just some bells.
Very very cool. One of the best entries I've seen.
Animation is quite good... Did you use Spriter or something?
Best game I've played so far.
Jumping from your poop is the best form of transport.
Haaaa! This is the hardest game ever made. Why does the player scroll with the river? I will never get to the other side. Never.
Similar to Hidden In Plain Sight... which is a good thing.
Jesus, this is difficult!
I got fired!!
Yay! This is the first Compo game that I've won!
Really nice!
I also can't see how it fits the theme, but... so what. The art is really really good.
Ahhhh haaaha! I win! I killed the space elephant!
That was way too short. :D
Thanks for the comments everyone! I can't believe I didn't disable the links when they are invisible! That's an easy one to fix though, and I think it falls within the "very tiny changes that I would have caught if I had more sleep" category. I'll try to fix it ASAP.
The mouse-tracking issue will have to remain unfortunately, as I don't have an immediate solution to that, and it would affect the gameplay anyway. I did notice it, but thought it was acceptably wonky. You are running around in circles a lot, it makes sense that your aim might be affected a bit.
Anyway. Thanks again for the comments.
@liamtwose - Agreed, on both counts.
@ainokaisa - True. I'll think of a way to discourage camping for a post compo update.
Thanks for the suggestions.
Hrmmm... I appear to have broken the game over screen. Does anyone see it when they die? Baghhh! Nooo!
I appreciate all the comments. Thanks again everyone. I'm taking all of the suggestions on board, and will hopefully release a post-comp version which will address a number of these issues.
I've been mocking up a radar system that will give you a better idea of where threats are coming from, and I'll introduce a couple of new control schemes, including gamepad support. Actually, my plans are to expand the game quite a bit, to make it more "gamey"... ie. Better feedback, a sense of progress, and I'm thinking about an entire solar system of planets... but we'll see how that goes.
@Erkberg, I see what you mean about the music. I actually created the track before I modified the game to be about protecting life (originally it was a bit silly, and you were actually cutting down the trees... in fact, you can still cut the trees down because I never removed the button... I don't think anyone has noticed this yet. :D) I'll see if I can come up with something a little moodier.
And yes, I'll eventually redo the player sprite. It was literally the first thing I did, and I used C2's built in sprite editor and never went back to it afterwards.
Love the time dilation when you're close to bullets.
Nice and weird. Unfortunately I had a bit of trouble with the controls. Cool concept though.
Really cool. I'll need more time to play it properly. I second the Dwarf Fortress comment.
Gameplay is easier using a stylus rather than a mouse... but my arm hurts!
Very cool, but too dark! I can't see anything.
Tense! I imagine I'd be about as successful in a real sword fight. ie... I'd be dead pretty quick.
There was this old game I had on my Macintosh S.E. called MacNinja. Very similar.
I should buy a kitten.
Really cool game. Would be great as local multiplayer.
Button A all the way!!!!
@Ditto Is that in the browser version or the d/l?
I've only tested in Chrome... and it's the first time I've used Unity's WebGL exporter. I won't be able to fix anything until I get home from work. Dang.
Thanks for your comments everyone. The suggestions are all appreciated. I'll probably do some work on a post-jam version soon.
Amazing audio. I very much recommend downloading and playing in fullscreen with headphones.
I wish I had more time to see if I can get more puzzle pieces, but I must move on to other games. Still, I'll come back to this one later.
The presentation in this game is super nice.
Good fun. But gets hard pretty quick. Once I start hitting things, I hit EVERYTHING.
I got a few glitches:
In the web version, I zoomed in on the browser, and every level a box would flash up on the screen and cover the worm, so I would crash into things.
In the Windows version, it seemed to lock up after a single death.
Tried to go full-screen by hitting alt-enter and it sorta worked, but not quite... and then crashed.
Still... good game!
Your pixel art is quite good, but you've left bilinear sampling on. Use point sampling and it will look a whole lot better.
I couldn't figure out how to slide. Not sure what "Slide with maj" means.
Really cool but it froze (ha!) a few times. Great use of two buttons.
I could only beat this game with two players!
