LD31 — Entire Game on One Screen

Screemo Quest by FrederickK 2014-12-29T23:57:00

Very interesting game, it's too bad you weren't able to finish it.

Lunch Money by drstik 2014-12-19T18:05:00

Fun game, I especially dig the art. Although, when the bullies decide to strike they move a bit too fast (basically guaranteeing that I'll get hurt).

Blobbit - A Disaffected Squirmy by Wampus 2014-12-24T21:32:00

Awesome game. Took a little bit to figure out what I needed to do, but once I got the hang of it the game was quite fun. Also, I appreciate the warm-up time to poke around and figure things out at the beginning of the game.

Two Hearts by dkilford 2014-12-14T06:05:00

Fun and challenging. It becomes immensely difficult once the player has to move both pieces at the same time, which is something few people can do well. I would at least recommend not placing the player in death zones (or at least wait to move death bringing pieces) right at the beginning of levels.

All in all, fun game!

Towering Perspective by UntitledQ 2014-12-22T04:58:00

Pretty fun game, though there isn't much variety after the first section. Does this game have an end point? I got nearly up to floor 50 before I started falling down floors rapidly.

Snow Problem by TehSkull 2014-12-14T07:03:00

A little bit terrifying, but pretty fun and funny none-the-less. There were sound effects in great places, though I think that there could have been a bit more in certain places (such as the computer game). Good work!

Alchemia by blzkz 2014-12-10T14:46:00

Overall this was a pretty neat crafting game. I'm not sure the time component was necessary since we could just reset everything as we were figuring out the correct combinations to make. Other than that, I think the puzzles were well designed with a gameplay flow in mind.

I'd say the main criticism I have is to clean up some of the user interface by removing the "Next" button when there's no more text to see, or displaying what components you put into the mortar and pedestal. I wish I could remove components that I've used rather than resetting the level, however in the end it wasn't totally necessary to make the game fun. Not to mention, it would be good to inform the player that they can only make things with combinations of two components (not more, though I could be wrong if that showed up later in the game).

Additionally, I received this error while clicking the grinder rapidly, which forced me to close out the game:

Cheesy Trap by se1by 2014-12-10T00:46:00

Pretty fun! Collision and movement controls could use some cleaning up, but it worked well enough to get a few good rounds in.

The Last Standwich by Lawls 2014-12-19T18:10:00

Fun game! I like the idea, though it's pretty hard to make the combinations. I think if you could move around the ingredients by pushing them it would make the score system a lot friendlier.

AZOR by Hellequin 2014-12-14T07:39:00

Solid game! Good difficulty, great (and intense) music, and nice art in there. Some of the puzzles are not very intuitive (like the switch to unlock the drop tunnel about halfway through the game), but all in all it was a fun experience!

Galvatross by ShuddaHaddaLottaFun 2014-12-10T00:52:00

Man, that title screen and music was awesome, I wish you had more of that flavor in the actual game. The game was pretty fun, interesting use of the Joust mechanics while introducing some new stuff.

My main criticism is that the worm hole and teleportation were a pretty clunky. I never really figured out how the worm hole worked, but it seemed like a god ability.

Musing About by CtrlAltTea 2014-12-19T03:51:00

Awesome entry, I thought the gameplay was engaging and fun. At first I hated that meters being full or empty didn't always mean good or bad (meaning full stress is bad, but full productivity is), but I think that inconsistency gave the game a complexity that offered a beneficial challenge.

Learning the behavior of each action was a little frustrating as well, but I think that challenge worked to your advantage, otherwise the game would be too easy! Good work!

If I Can Just Mine 5000 Crystals From This Weird Snowman Planet They'll Let My Daughter Go Free by sigfig 2014-12-19T03:13:00

Nice game! I dig the multitasking a lot, and I think the concept was fun. It would be nice to see how many crystals I've collected if at least to judge how well I did.

Also, I'm not sure if you should be able to win this game, but it doesn't feel like it. If you are, then it's practically impossible. Other than that, it was fun!

Moving Melody by ChuiGum 2014-12-16T07:09:00

Great Canabalt style game with a rhythm to it! I greatly enjoyed the changing art and music with the gameplay, and the rhythm alignment with the gameplay felt awesome.

Space Dwarves by CMWeissMedia 2014-12-14T04:48:00

Ha, hey thanks for the trophy and mention! We're glad you were a fan of our dwarven droopy mustaches & beards. :)

Frostbite by ShellfishGames 2014-12-13T21:34:00

Very strange but fun game. I feel like there wasn't much of a relation between each of the game's elements, but it was fun none the less. Good job!

Rooms by Pix3M 2014-12-14T06:51:00

Solid game! The art was great along with the overall mood of the game. The gameplay wasn't challenging, though occasionally frustrating (I definitely think it would be good to avoid needing to inspect something more than once to find an item), but in the end I think it holds up well. Good work!

snow by Valeour 2014-12-13T21:17:00

Pretty fun game! I enjoyed the mechanics and the little secrets hidden around the environment. Good challenge and exploration, it kept me engaged. Not to mention, you did a good job at making the player's goals very clear.

The only thing I think this game could use is some indication to judge how well the player did. Something like a "Play Time" display would be nice.

Sad Little War-Bot by sorlok 2014-12-10T05:18:00

Good work! This was one of the few games that I saw some legitimate variation in the challenges presented (basically, good on you for having so many enemy types and using them well.)

Overall pretty fun, my main criticism would be that the art could use some work, but hey that doesn't stop it from being fun.

Also, I liked your addition of the snowman theme ;)

Gone by rnlf 2014-12-13T20:38:00

Very nice work. The theme, story, mood, all that jazz was well done. The pixelated lighting effects were particularly neat too.

There wan't much of a challenge, but since the game was predominantly story based I feel like you're safe there. My only issue was that there were some bad collision issues with all doors and many walls. I could walk through them, which actually allowed me to beat the game in the second room on my first play through. If you play the game without cheating it's pretty solid!

One Screen For Worlds by danidre14 2014-12-13T19:27:00

A bit hard at first, but once you get used to the feel of the movement it's not too bad. Overall, not bad, it was pretty fun once I got into it. The two main things I'd say that could use some work are the movement physics (they felt a bit sluggish and unnatural) and the collision.

I actually couldn't physically beat level 4 because my character was getting stuck on the top and couldn't do anything to avoid the spikes (due to the collision). I could also sink through floors to cheat my way through a couple levels.

Despite the couple issues, the game was still pretty fun! Good work!

Survive the Attack by alhvi 2014-12-19T04:01:00

Very fun! I really liked that the game continued even after the walls fall.

No More Boxes by Tuism 2014-12-19T15:54:00

Awesome, I love the variety of characters and their different actions. AI would be nice, but with a game jam that's very hard (so no worries there). Otherwise I think a win condition would be good, that way the game doesn't just last until the players decide it's done.

SQUISH AND BOUNCE by waveformmodulations 2014-12-19T18:01:00

Fun game, though there's no difficulty curve. Once you figure it out, you can just keep playing forever. It would be nice if the pace speeds up the longer the game runs.

murder of Zafu by Franklin's Ghost 2014-12-14T07:20:00

Great idea, great art, and fun game mechanics. I think the main thing that this game would need is variance in each play through so you don't always know who the killer is (and when they'll strike), and some additional levels.

Joof by Joof 2014-12-14T07:26:00

Not sure how to run this in Love2D since it looks like there's no executable. Any instructions as to how to use Love2D to load the game?

ɹǝɯɹɐɟ ǝɥʇ by BooleanByte 2014-12-13T20:27:00

Clicking is a little buggy, I feel like I drop the hoe a lot when I'm trying to use it. Other than that, it's a fun and simple idea.

Globo by punkto 2014-12-13T21:19:00

Very simple and short, but fun. I wish there were more levels than just the three, but I could see this game being developed further to find its way to the mobile market (the controls are pretty intuitive with touch devices). Good job!

Expression Quest by LevieDAudio 2014-12-14T05:46:00

Loved the audio in this game. There wasn't much challenge or depth to the gameplay, but the audio more than made up for it, making it a good experience. Good job!

Attack of the cybernetic aliens by mathias234 2014-12-09T23:42:00

- Hard to see the bullets (especially if you're red green color-blind).

- Increased enemy health and numbers each round doesn't really make it more interesting, especially paired with the skill increases as it basically equals out. I think the challenge could have been improved by adding more spawn points for enemies to generate from.

- Overall it was mostly fun, however it doesn't hold up past a few rounds.

Antivirus by Boog33 2014-12-14T06:53:00

A bit challenging, I think you could have benefited from a larger game screen. The enemies moved a bit fast, and I don't think I really saw the point to moving around the avatar. Other than that, the game was definitely fun!

NO AMMO NO ARMOUR NO SIGNAL by Farfin 2014-12-19T03:35:00

Fun game, I enjoyed the twist on the standard PacMan mechanic. I wish there was a method to get more shield or ammo however.

Hazard Hills by CliffracerX 2014-12-13T19:43:00

Collision and physics are a bit buggy, but the game was pretty fun. Donkey Kong themed game is a good way to describe it though.

Nixtopia by Saker Games 2014-12-14T07:10:00

Pretty fun idea. A bit buggy, I couldn't open the door on the second story even after I build the battery and turned on the computer.

TheBlindMaze by Valon 2014-12-10T00:41:00

Neat concept, however very hard to play. I think you could have benefited from offering examples of what each sound represents.

THE GAME by Eggplant 2014-12-19T04:15:00

Fun and simple, but with good humor!

Zeta Strike by MjSpeCter 2014-12-10T00:16:00

Decently fun, I went for a good six or so rounds before dying. Some weapons are detrimental to pick up which can be frustrating (such as the sword, which doesn't seem to ever be useful due to it's range.) I would at least resolve that by letting the player pick up their previous weapon.

Otherwise, I think you could have benefited from introducing the different enemies throughout the levels rather than all at once.

Bejailed by bufferoverflow 2014-12-19T04:08:00

Awesome idea, though it was definitely too difficult. I'd like to see this game with less enemies right off the bat. Also it's a bit harsh that an enemy can pin you against the wall and continuously deal damage. I think you could get away with the enemies not colliding with the player.

Squadron Commander by Raxsus 2014-12-14T07:45:00

Very neat idea with moving the ships around. I wish I could see something like this with multiple players (each with their own cursor) scrambling to move around a dozen ships. Either way, this is something I haven't seen before and it's a very cool idea!

Other than that, I liked your method of giving stats to the player. It was fun to see how many of each type of ship I destroyed, rather than some arbitrary score value. Good work!

Can You Defeat Them? by overallcyber 2014-12-16T07:00:00

Silly ending, but pretty fun game. There wasn't really any challenge, I think either limiting attacks/actions to proximity to the player somehow would have improved this the most.

RandomRemoteRush[RRR] by AwesomeAlliterationAlliance 2014-12-19T04:40:00

Strange mechanic, but I did enjoy the game quite a bit. I definitely felt that there wasn't enough time to do much (that, or time pickups really didn't give you enough to make a difference).

Valley of Trolls by johannesl 2014-12-13T20:12:00

Very nice game! The networked play was a surprising addition, though I wish there was local play as well (course that would be hard to do without letting the other player see the values on the villages).

Dark Vaimanika by d3garcia 2014-12-22T05:01:00

Very hard, but fun idea. I think the trust was a bit too much.

☃ Jingle Calls ☃ by C63 Industries 2014-12-10T00:24:00

Definitely not your average cookie cutter game, which I appreciate. Some of the dialog options were a bit clunky until you get used to how the game wants you to interact with it, but not too bad all in all.

Survive the Night by conradte3 2014-12-10T00:00:00

A little clunky, I think the collision could have been improved. I'm not sure if there were any logs to get picked up, but I never was able to find any that I could use (despite the logs around the area).

Otherwise, the controls were intuitive enough to figure out without much, but I'm glad you had instructions that "e" picked up and dropped sticks.

You Gotta Feed the Wizards by lycrashampoo 2014-12-14T07:17:00

Great idea, but it's pretty tough to play especially when you don't know what's going on. I think a bigger screen with a little more information in the interface would be extremely useful for this game.

Thief Before Dark by GSG 2014-12-19T04:46:00

Fun idea, but it's way too hard to see the player.

Viral 0 by DevFrank 2014-12-19T04:49:00

I dig the art! Also the game is pretty fun. My main feedback is the interface could use a life counter.

TVScape by EsirInGame 2014-12-13T20:17:00

Interesting idea but hard to play. It looked like there was part of the UI that was designed to tell me what colors I had toggled on and off, but it wasn't responding (which made things a bit confusing).

Panzer Blitz by friggingames 2014-12-10T00:31:00

Fun idea, with some good gameplay in there. It would be nice to have a restart button, as refreshing the screen means I have to reload the entire game. All in all not bad though.

Terra by Canyon 2014-12-19T04:20:00

Fun idea. I'd like to see what else you could do if you expand out these mechanics.

Pushy Blockbuster by Darthone 2014-12-19T03:01:00

Great take on a common puzzle mechanic. The game isn't the most color-blind friendly, but that could be fixed with more variance in shades or some other aesthetic differentiation.

Legend of Feleria by Dietrich Epp 2014-12-19T03:21:00

Very interesting game. I liked the art quite a bit! I think with some polishing this could make for a great experience.

INVADERS LD31 by tomhunt 2014-12-14T06:10:00

Hard to see and play. I would recommend at least having some instruction on the controls, I couldn't find any other player action other than moving (I expected a Space Invaders-like shoot action? None of the keys seemed to work for this.)

Kilo Bite by rvmook 2014-12-19T03:26:00

Great idea. I think with some extra UI to give the player some extra information, this could make for a really interesting game / virtual pet.

Solitude by The Evil Cult 2014-12-19T15:39:00

Fun idea! I wish you could do more with items, but what was there was still enjoyable. Also the player can definitely fall off the world if they jump over the upper left corner of the screen. Regardless, good work!

LD35 — Shapeshift

Untitled-1 by Those 30 Ninjas 2016-04-18T18:06:00

This is fantastic! Not the most colorblind friendly, but great replayability, great amount of challenge, and themes! Very chillax ;)
