One Screen For Worlds by danidre14 2014-12-18T23:26:00
Really hard, but fun! I liked the art and music, and I thought it was pretty creative! Good job.

Really hard, but fun! I liked the art and music, and I thought it was pretty creative! Good job.
That's awesome! It's a ton of fun and VERY hard! I love the old vacuum-tube monitor look. I don't know how else to describe it but the graphics are cool.
Cool! I liked it.
Pretty good! I loved the sound and art. It's very intriguing. Good job.
Pretty fun! I think the graphics are very likable. Good job!
Super fun! I like the art a lot. It's very addicting.
Good and fun, but it was a bit generic. Good job though.
Super fun! Reminds me of Sim City. Awesome job!
Very interesting. I like the atmosphere. It wasn't a game but that's okay.
A very fun, enjoyable experience. I loved the concept. I'm very impressed at all you did in such a short amount of time, definitely way more than I could do. Good job!
A very interesting concept. I really like it! Good job!
Really fun, addicting game you got! I thought it fit the theme well. I love it!
It ran for me. I thought it was very fun. However, I'm not sure I saw an unconventional weapon here. Regardless, it was fun. Good job!
I love the idea and the story. Unfortunately I was unable to drag and drop but that may just be my stupidity. XD Anyway, I thought it fit the theme well. Some things were a little rough like the inability to skip the opening cinematic but I'm sure that was due to time constraints. Good job!
It was fun. I enjoyed the graphics and thought it was a neat idea. I don't see how it fit the theme personally but good job!
Thanks for the response. I understand it had a few shortcomings which were unfortunately due to time restraints. Hopefully we can do better next time! :)
Thank you rudra!
@f7f5 Unfortunately due to time constraints we couldn't perfect the algorithms for controlling all the factors, so it is far from perfect.
@kunzbe Unfortunately Pygame sucks in that you can't make working EXEs so you'd need Python 2.7 and Pygame to run it.
This is a fun, solid entry. I don't know how well it fit the theme but it's still really good. Good job!
Genius! 10/10 would read again.
This is awesome! I was following your progress on your blog posts. I love it!
Truly a masterpiece of masterpieces. You sir are glorious. Stay awesome.
Very difficult. It's fun and well put together, though, good job!
Interesting submission. A good start, being a work in progress. I look forward to seeing the final product. :)
The camera tilting was a little disorienting at first for me but I adapted quickly. The merging of the 2D and 3D was done very well, good job!
That's a really great idea! The concept of the puzzles was nice. Some cool art too. Great job.
Cool! I like the roguelike design. If you continue to develop this (and I recommend that you do) I would try adding more enemy types and upgrades as you progress levels. Good job.
This is awesome! A simple concept that works very well. I played it for a long time. I like the use of the theme.
Good job! I like the art a lot, and the controls were smooth.
Fun little simulation! Good job.
The movement is a bit slow for me, but the concept is really cool. Good job!
Awesome idea! The physics was good. It's a lot of fun.
Good idea. As the others have said the controls were a bit difficult to handle, but good job nonetheless. :)
I'm not sure how to run it, I can't find an executable in the Linux version.
Interesting. It fits the theme well. A little more explanation at the beginning would help, but good job overall. :)
Slick little project. The physics was very well done. Good job!
Well done! The art/sound effects are great, and smashing the slave driver is very satisfying. Good job.
Very fun! It's hard. Sometimes it was hard to throw axes at enemies in tight corridors as the axe's kept getting caught on the walls. It's a good idea though and I encourage you to keep working on it! It reminds me of Castle Wolfenstein.
Good job! I really like it.
Fun game! I love the look of the player. The attacking sometimes felt stiff and I'm not sure what the tie is to the theme, maybe because he's using a sword? Otherwise good job!
Good job! The movement feels a bit sluggish, but it's still a straightforward fun game.
Well done. The physics and controls felt smooth. I'm not sure how you applied the theme here but a fun game and good job!
Really nice! The graphics are cool, and the little visual tweaks like the particle effects and changing light are great. One minor complaint is that pressing space bar causes the webpage to scroll down, but the w key works fine. Awesome job!
The screenshots look great, but unfortunately I'm on Linux so I can't test it. Could you compile it for other platforms since you're using Monogame?
Great graphics! I wasn't expecting a typing game! It's very fun, awesome job!
Good job, I like it! It's cool to see another person using Java.
@nardelli I didn't know there were scores, but thank you anyway. XD I used swing/awt. I've been playing a bit with LibGDX and it looks like a cool technology!
@galhajaj I should've focused more on a tutorial, I'll try to do that in my next LD game. Thank you for your feedback!
@stefvanschie Thanks for the response! I designed it to be sort of a run in the background "idle" type game where most of the game was watching how you're people were doing and then determining whether or not you should change up their professions based on that. It's certainly not a design that appeals to everyone though.
@Dietrich Epp Thanks! Yeah I can see that being confusing. You just have to pay attention to who's professions are changing.
@Linus123xbb Thank you very much. I appreciate the feedback. :)
@AnaglyphCoding Those are good ideas if I ever decide to continue developing this. Sound was really hard for me to implement in Java but I'll have to learn more about adjusting the volume and such. Thank you for the response!
@chrisdugne What happens is each house spawns 3 people and then it's respective 3 people change professions based on what the house is assigned to. So even if the 3 people have gone to the other side of the screen they'll still change to whatever the house is. Thank you for your comment!
It looks interesting, but unfortunately I'm on Linux so I can't run the exe. You should rename your link from 'Web' (which implies that the game will run in the browser) to 'Windows'. Good job making a game though!
Very intriguing. Please continue it!
Nice job making a game! I like it.
So cool! Is it multiplayer? If so that's really impressive to pull off. The movement felt slightly jittery at times but overall well done!
Good job!
It's difficult. I really liked your use of the theme, combining the old technology of snake with fresh mechanics. I had fun with this game. Great job.
I really enjoyed it. The art was very well done, and the music as well. I would love to see more if you're going to continue developing it.
Good job!
Very good game. I loved the minimalist graphics style. I left the home in the end. Awesome job!
It was a lot of fun! I thought the lack of animation in the characters was kind of funny and added to the mood of the game. It was a good idea. Great job!
It didn't seem to load for me. I just got a blue screen.
It was fun. The game was simplistic, but the mechanics were smooth. Good job.
Smashing the walls was really satisfying! I ended up getting caught in some debris and couldn't move. Still fun though, nice job.
Good job on completing Ludum Dare! As a fellow Java developer (using the standard libs) the jerky movement can be fixed by using a velocity variable, and telling the player to move the velocity variable's amount every update cycle. I liked the art and the music. The game was very simple, but looked good. It would be cool if you increased the difficulty gradually somehow, like make the goblins move slightly faster or have more than one at a time.
It worked for me on Linux, but it was very slow. That could just be my computer though. I liked the idea, it took some getting used to figuring out which snake I controlled, but the AI implementation was a nice touch. Good job from a fellow Java developer!
Hmm, the online page is 404'd. I'm on Linux so I'm unable to use the exe.
I liked the idea, the controls were smooth. Good job!
I can't run it on Linux. I get an "Exception in Application start method" error.
I couldn't seem to run the .sh file on Linux, despite having pygame installed. I tried running game.py with "python game.py" but I get the error: SyntaxError: Non-ASCII character '\xce' in file game.py on line 129, but no encoding declared; see http://python.org/dev/peps/pep-0263/ for details
It's a neat concept, but for most people it would be difficult to play due to the requirements.
The music was a good choice for making a surreal atmosphere. I'm still not sure what the goal was, if there is one, but it was fun to see what would happen next. I'm not sure how it fits the theme though. Good job anyway.
A text adventure was a neat idea. I like the sound of the typing and the interaction. Good job!
An interesting minimalistic title. I had some difficulty figuring out what to do, but once I figured it out it was a nice relaxing experience. Good job.
It's an interesting idea, but I'm still a bit confused by how it's supposed to work.
Really fun! I loved the portal-like mechanic with the doors.
Really cool entry! The music and art was very good. I really liked the mood of this game. Awesome job.
I couldn't run the game on Linux. I get the error: error while loading shared libraries: libSDL2_image-2.0.so.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
Excellent entry. I loved the idea. Good job!
Really good. It's a good idea with a good use of the theme. I had a lot of fun with it!
@hijomo Thanks! The feedback scene could be cut down.
@Lukbebalduke Thanks! Unfortunately I didn't have a lot of time due to having to study for finals. Hopefully next time I can make something better.
@phoenix1987 Thank you, I appreciate that!
@Uruca Games There should've been music and sound effects. If you didn't hear anything a glitch must have occurred.
@fafastudio Thanks! Unfortunately I didn't have a lot of time when I made it so it ended up a bit simplistic. The music is something I made up really quickly in GarageBand, but it's meant to sound Christmas-like.
@Hempuli Hmm...maybe he was too busy to describe what he wanted and the elf didn't want to risk asking? Honestly I didn't bother with that part. XD
@acotis Hm, you shouldn't have to middle click. On my computer left clicking works fine. I should have made the return more obvious too. Thanks for the feedback!
@Yvanor Thank you, I appreciate that.
I thought it was cool that you made a terminal based game! I think there's some good potential here for this to become a great roguelike. Good job!
I couldn't run it on OSX. I get the error: thread 'main' panicked at 'called `Result::unwrap()` on an `Err` value: "Could not load \'\"big-font.png\"\': IoError(Error { repr: Os { code: 2, message: \"No such file or directory\" } })"', src/libcore/result.rs:799
It was fun! The mechanics were good. It took a little bit for me to get used to moving the room but I figured it out. I like the art as well.
I had some weirdness on the Linux version. It caused my computer to crash and restart.
I tried the online link (I'm on linux) but it says you removed it.
Don't label your download "Web" if it doesn't run in a browser.
I enjoyed it. It reminds me of Phoenix and Galaga, and other classic arcade shooter games. The only complaint I can think of is that you start off of the screen, and it's possible to run off the side. Otherwise good job.
It looks cute from the screenshots but I couldn't run it.
The download link is 404'd.
It looks interesting but I wasn't able to run it.
I have the same issue as martincohen. The link is 404'd.
It looks interesting, but you shouldn't label your download as "Web" unless it runs in a browser. If you have to download something with the game be sure to label it "Windows" or "OSX" or "Linux" depending on what OS it's supposed to go with.
I was a little confused at the "Don't lap" clue. An interesting idea nonetheless. Good job!
The controls seemed a bit stiff. It's a neat little runner though. Good job on Ludum Dare!
Hm, doesn't seem to work. I get a "javax.imageio.IIOException: Can't read input file!". My game is in Java as well. Did you use the standard libraries? If so it may be a problem with how you're loading image assets.
