LD31 — Entire Game on One Screen

One Screen For Worlds by danidre14 2014-12-18T23:26:00

Really hard, but fun! I liked the art and music, and I thought it was pretty creative! Good job.

CERT(Fixed) by rd127p77 2014-12-08T23:47:00

That's awesome! It's a ton of fun and VERY hard! I love the old vacuum-tube monitor look. I don't know how else to describe it but the graphics are cool.

Return of the Floppy by daviosmash 2014-12-18T23:16:00

Cool! I liked it.

THE GAME by Eggplant 2014-12-08T23:38:00

Pretty good! I loved the sound and art. It's very intriguing. Good job.

Pretty fun! I think the graphics are very likable. Good job!

The Story of Cheap Ranger by DavidVisscher 2014-12-09T00:21:00

Super fun! I like the art a lot. It's very addicting.

Infinifall by Bloxri 2014-12-18T22:56:00

Good and fun, but it was a bit generic. Good job though.

Toytown by Frozen Fractal 2014-12-18T22:50:00

Super fun! Reminds me of Sim City. Awesome job!

LD32 — An Unconventional Weapon

The Death of Mister Johnson by davidbox 2015-04-29T22:53:00

Very interesting. I like the atmosphere. It wasn't a game but that's okay.

Depressopia by ZYXer 2015-05-01T23:38:00

A very fun, enjoyable experience. I loved the concept. I'm very impressed at all you did in such a short amount of time, definitely way more than I could do. Good job!

The Penanggalan! by Beavl 2015-05-01T23:33:00

A very interesting concept. I really like it! Good job!

Weapon Regulator by drludos 2015-05-01T23:27:00

Really fun, addicting game you got! I thought it fit the theme well. I love it!

Arena King by Anti 2015-04-29T23:06:00

It ran for me. I thought it was very fun. However, I'm not sure I saw an unconventional weapon here. Regardless, it was fun. Good job!

Death by Chocolate - Unconventional Cure by waveformmodulations 2015-04-29T23:02:00

I love the idea and the story. Unfortunately I was unable to drag and drop but that may just be my stupidity. XD Anyway, I thought it fit the theme well. Some things were a little rough like the inability to skip the opening cinematic but I'm sure that was due to time constraints. Good job!

A Childs Night Terror by bossmojoman 2015-05-05T01:33:00

It was fun. I enjoyed the graphics and thought it was a neat idea. I don't see how it fit the theme personally but good job!

Candy Factory Simulator 2015 by Eggplant 2015-04-26T23:43:00

Thanks for the response. I understand it had a few shortcomings which were unfortunately due to time restraints. Hopefully we can do better next time! :)

Candy Factory Simulator 2015 by Eggplant 2015-05-01T23:27:00

Thank you rudra!

Candy Factory Simulator 2015 by Eggplant 2015-05-05T01:23:00

@f7f5 Unfortunately due to time constraints we couldn't perfect the algorithms for controlling all the factors, so it is far from perfect.

@kunzbe Unfortunately Pygame sucks in that you can't make working EXEs so you'd need Python 2.7 and Pygame to run it.

Vintage Defense by mikeureko 2015-04-29T23:12:00

This is a fun, solid entry. I don't know how well it fit the theme but it's still really good. Good job!

N/a by LadyEmaSkye 2015-05-11T04:57:00

Genius! 10/10 would read again.

LD35 — Shapeshift

Amyounition by HacksawUnit 2016-04-18T02:35:00

This is awesome! I was following your progress on your blog posts. I love it!

Evolution by Eggplant 2016-04-18T02:33:00

The game is sort of a quiz in and of itself. It's simply making choices to see what you can end up as.

Evolution by Eggplant 2016-04-19T00:50:00

Thank you so much sir. :P

Evolution by Eggplant 2016-04-24T18:05:00

Truly a masterpiece of masterpieces. You sir are glorious. Stay awesome.

LD36 — Ancient Technology

4 Dimensions by phantomunboxing 2016-08-28T20:24:00

Very difficult. It's fun and well put together, though, good job!

Adventure aboard the Narwhal by MaxguN 2016-08-28T18:10:00

Interesting submission. A good start, being a work in progress. I look forward to seeing the final product. :)

TOS Legends by Strike 2016-09-04T21:38:00

The camera tilting was a little disorienting at first for me but I adapted quickly. The merging of the 2D and 3D was done very well, good job!

Ancient Maze of Epla by xesenix 2016-09-04T21:13:00

That's a really great idea! The concept of the puzzles was nice. Some cool art too. Great job.

Ancient Dungeon by SooloKim 2016-09-04T21:26:00

Cool! I like the roguelike design. If you continue to develop this (and I recommend that you do) I would try adding more enemy types and upgrades as you progress levels. Good job.

Reinvent the Wheel by Linus123xbb 2016-09-05T18:03:00

This is awesome! A simple concept that works very well. I played it for a long time. I like the use of the theme.

Flight of Daedalus by Aaranos 2016-09-04T21:08:00

Good job! I like the art a lot, and the controls were smooth.

Ancient Creaters by two70 2016-09-05T00:09:00

Fun little simulation! Good job.

SeƱor Emilio by Kazuo256 2016-09-04T21:54:00

The movement is a bit slow for me, but the concept is really cool. Good job!

Ancient Alien Defense by HouseofWillis 2016-09-04T21:18:00

Awesome idea! The physics was good. It's a lot of fun.

First Wheel by TheGRS 2016-09-05T00:26:00

Good idea. As the others have said the controls were a bit difficult to handle, but good job nonetheless. :)

Pesky Sheep by KappaDotB 2016-09-04T21:51:00

I'm not sure how to run it, I can't find an executable in the Linux version.

Chippin' Away by rdp1070 2016-09-04T21:48:00

Interesting. It fits the theme well. A little more explanation at the beginning would help, but good job overall. :)

Antiquis Apparatus by Seizar 2016-08-31T20:15:00

Slick little project. The physics was very well done. Good job!

RUNE by Hiinds 2016-09-04T22:01:00

Fun and very simple. It's the kind of game that goes by so fast I could sit there and replay it for a long time. Awesome job!

Tower of Egypt by DespiteSoft 2016-08-31T20:23:00

Well done! The art/sound effects are great, and smashing the slave driver is very satisfying. Good job.

Orgog's Prison by Fib 2016-08-31T20:03:00

Very fun! It's hard. Sometimes it was hard to throw axes at enemies in tight corridors as the axe's kept getting caught on the walls. It's a good idea though and I encourage you to keep working on it! It reminds me of Castle Wolfenstein.

AZtech by Harsay 2016-09-04T21:15:00

It's a good concept, but it wasn't explained very well. Also like Tom said I'm not sure where the theme applies here. Good job nonetheless.

Village Store by euske 2016-09-05T21:39:00

Good job! I really like it.

Wing Warrior by n42k 2016-09-04T20:54:00

Fun game! I love the look of the player. The attacking sometimes felt stiff and I'm not sure what the tie is to the theme, maybe because he's using a sword? Otherwise good job!

Lost Orion by Sri Harsha Chilakapati 2016-08-30T20:50:00

Good job! The movement feels a bit sluggish, but it's still a straightforward fun game.

BOBBLE by MRLIGHT234 2016-09-04T21:30:00

Well done. The physics and controls felt smooth. I'm not sure how you applied the theme here but a fun game and good job!

Pyramid Raider by Neonian 2016-08-28T23:07:00

Really nice! The graphics are cool, and the little visual tweaks like the particle effects and changing light are great. One minor complaint is that pressing space bar causes the webpage to scroll down, but the w key works fine. Awesome job!

4000 B.C. by tcarter 2016-09-04T21:00:00

This is hilarious! The dialog was great. I loved your take on the theme. It controlled well and the art/animations were well done. Good job!

RTS by sirikan 2016-09-04T22:38:00

It's a decent start that could lead to more. It would be cool if you kept developing it!

Roswell by jaxonf92 2016-09-04T22:09:00

Cool idea that plays nicely. A health bar on the UFO would've been handy but it's by no means a deal breaker. It's very simple and fun. Good job!

Ancient Jumping Technology by Sequenceko 2016-08-28T20:25:00

The screenshots look great, but unfortunately I'm on Linux so I can't test it. Could you compile it for other platforms since you're using Monogame?

Babel by johnbjuice 2016-09-04T21:04:00

Great graphics! I wasn't expecting a typing game! It's very fun, awesome job!

Rolo-Mania by Aree Vanier 2016-09-05T00:10:00

Good job, I like it! It's cool to see another person using Java.

Evacuate by Eggplant 2016-08-28T22:14:00

@anjack Thanks!

@BoltKey Thank you for the feedback. In hindsight I really should have put a better tutorial. Also I'm obviously a terrible artist which made it hard to differentiate professions. I appreciate the input. :)

Evacuate by Eggplant 2016-08-28T22:57:00

@BoltKey I tweaked it to resolve some of your concerns. The entities now have health bars, there is a brief explanation of how to play in the GUI, and there are now icons showing each unit's profession. It's still not perfect but it should help. :)

Evacuate by Eggplant 2016-08-28T23:02:00

I also improved the medics.

Evacuate by Eggplant 2016-08-29T12:06:00

@danilafe Thanks for the response! I actually didn't think of Spore when making it, but I can see the resemblance!

Evacuate by Eggplant 2016-08-30T02:13:00

@AWOL Thank you very much! Unfortunately I cannot try yours since I am on Linux but the screen shots and description look very cool.

Evacuate by Eggplant 2016-09-01T17:07:00

@tmpxyz, you indirectly control the people by changing their professions. And thank you for catching that I can't believe I missed that. XD

Evacuate by Eggplant 2016-09-03T15:05:00

@n42k It was developed on Linux too. :) Thanks for the responde! The AI is definetly the biggest problem with the game in my opinion, and the profession confusion is due to my terrible art.

Evacuate by Eggplant 2016-09-05T01:56:00

@thiagofr Thanks a lot! That's a good point. I'll remember to make clearer GUI in my next LD game. :)

Evacuate by Eggplant 2016-09-05T14:43:00

@nardelli I didn't know there were scores, but thank you anyway. XD I used swing/awt. I've been playing a bit with LibGDX and it looks like a cool technology!

@galhajaj I should've focused more on a tutorial, I'll try to do that in my next LD game. Thank you for your feedback!

@stefvanschie Thanks for the response! I designed it to be sort of a run in the background "idle" type game where most of the game was watching how you're people were doing and then determining whether or not you should change up their professions based on that. It's certainly not a design that appeals to everyone though.

Evacuate by Eggplant 2016-09-05T21:10:00

@Dietrich Epp Thanks! Yeah I can see that being confusing. You just have to pay attention to who's professions are changing.

@Linus123xbb Thank you very much. I appreciate the feedback. :)

@AnaglyphCoding Those are good ideas if I ever decide to continue developing this. Sound was really hard for me to implement in Java but I'll have to learn more about adjusting the volume and such. Thank you for the response!

@chrisdugne What happens is each house spawns 3 people and then it's respective 3 people change professions based on what the house is assigned to. So even if the 3 people have gone to the other side of the screen they'll still change to whatever the house is. Thank you for your comment!

Evacuate by Eggplant 2016-09-07T02:13:00

@Pikby Thank you! Explaining things in my games is definitely not my strong suit, but I'll have to improve on that next time.

Evacuate by Eggplant 2016-09-09T02:55:00

@Strike Thanks! I appreciate that.

@komill I agree. It does need more balance for sure. However the dificultad increase with increasing eras, due to higher population of monsters. I know that it's far from perfect though. Thank you for the response. :)

Evacuate by Eggplant 2016-09-12T10:49:00

@Jupiter_Hadley Thanks so much!

Ancients & Aliens by MHaton 2016-08-28T22:17:00

It looks interesting, but unfortunately I'm on Linux so I can't run the exe. You should rename your link from 'Web' (which implies that the game will run in the browser) to 'Windows'. Good job making a game though!

The Machine by jeremyfa 2016-09-05T00:24:00

Very intriguing. Please continue it!

Clockwork man by jacobturn 2016-08-29T13:17:00

Nice job making a game! I like it.

Flamethrowing Dynamite Wizards on Ice by richardjs 2016-08-28T23:11:00

So cool! Is it multiplayer? If so that's really impressive to pull off. The movement felt slightly jittery at times but overall well done!

Ancient Drone by komilll 2016-09-04T22:06:00

Good job!

Ancient Snake by GGC_Language 2016-09-04T21:33:00

It's difficult. I really liked your use of the theme, combining the old technology of snake with fresh mechanics. I had fun with this game. Great job.

Lost Temple by Dietrich Epp 2016-09-05T17:51:00

I really enjoyed it. The art was very well done, and the music as well. I would love to see more if you're going to continue developing it.

Lost Artifacts by rynti 2016-08-31T20:06:00

Good job!

LD37 — One room

Just Leave Home by ALeal_Dev 2016-12-16T18:38:00

Very good game. I loved the minimalist graphics style. I left the home in the end. Awesome job!

The RPG Shop by glauz 2016-12-16T18:48:00

It was a lot of fun! I thought the lack of animation in the characters was kind of funny and added to the mood of the game. It was a good idea. Great job!

One Room by PelagicGames 2016-12-16T19:14:00

It didn't seem to load for me. I just got a blue screen.

The One Room by dreadloaf 2016-12-17T07:47:00

It was fun. The game was simplistic, but the mechanics were smooth. Good job.

Super Sugar Juice Man by antishow 2016-12-16T19:21:00

Smashing the walls was really satisfying! I ended up getting caught in some debris and couldn't move. Still fun though, nice job.

Guard by Pie-Tras 2016-12-17T04:16:00

Good job on completing Ludum Dare! As a fellow Java developer (using the standard libs) the jerky movement can be fixed by using a velocity variable, and telling the player to move the velocity variable's amount every update cycle. I liked the art and the music. The game was very simple, but looked good. It would be cool if you increased the difficulty gradually somehow, like make the goblins move slightly faster or have more than one at a time.

Snake: The Gathering by Jimsen 2016-12-17T04:05:00

It worked for me on Linux, but it was very slow. That could just be my computer though. I liked the idea, it took some getting used to figuring out which snake I controlled, but the AI implementation was a nice touch. Good job from a fellow Java developer!

Color Maze by j-duke 2016-12-17T04:19:00

Hmm, the online page is 404'd. I'm on Linux so I'm unable to use the exe.

Alone In a Room by inventer99 2016-12-17T19:10:00

I liked the idea, the controls were smooth. Good job!

One Room of Pain by roberto-graham 2016-12-17T19:13:00

I can't run it on Linux. I get an "Exception in Application start method" error.

Garden of Eden by gadevoi 2016-12-17T19:30:00

I couldn't seem to run the .sh file on Linux, despite having pygame installed. I tried running game.py with "python game.py" but I get the error: SyntaxError: Non-ASCII character '\xce' in file game.py on line 129, but no encoding declared; see http://python.org/dev/peps/pep-0263/ for details

Twitch Tycoon (Requires a Twitch Accounts) by Seby 2016-12-17T19:16:00

It's a neat concept, but for most people it would be difficult to play due to the requirements.

The Great RoomScape! by RainbowKappa789 2016-12-17T19:23:00

The music was a good choice for making a surreal atmosphere. I'm still not sure what the goal was, if there is one, but it was fun to see what would happen next. I'm not sure how it fits the theme though. Good job anyway.

Room by benjamins 2016-12-17T19:35:00

If you're going to use a linked named "Web", please make sure it leads to a game that plays directly in the browser. Otherwise label it with the operating system(s) it is compatible for.

Five Knocks by Zhoot 2016-12-17T19:33:00

A text adventure was a neat idea. I like the sound of the typing and the interaction. Good job!

atomic-swerve by atomic_swerve 2016-12-16T19:38:00

An interesting minimalistic title. I had some difficulty figuring out what to do, but once I figured it out it was a nice relaxing experience. Good job.

6x4=1 by NMcCoy 2016-12-16T18:20:00

Really cool! The fez-world turning mechanic was a good idea. I ended up getting trapped in a pit but I made it to level 3! Great job!

A Discordant Crowd by Alloyed 2016-12-15T22:43:00

It's an interesting idea, but I'm still a bit confused by how it's supposed to work.

One Room - One Door by bes_kurales 2016-12-16T19:04:00

Really fun! I loved the portal-like mechanic with the doors.

OneRoom Farmer by badabooom63 2016-12-15T22:49:00

Really cool entry! The music and art was very good. I really liked the mood of this game. Awesome job.

Hall Puzzle by Knowledge 2016-12-17T04:07:00

I couldn't run the game on Linux. I get the error: error while loading shared libraries: libSDL2_image-2.0.so.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

Excellent entry. I loved the idea. Good job!

Factory-Room by Yvanor 2016-12-17T03:39:00

Really good. It's a good idea with a good use of the theme. I had a lot of fun with it!

Cocoa Catastrophe by Eggplant 2016-12-15T22:45:00

@hijomo Thanks! The feedback scene could be cut down.

Cocoa Catastrophe by Eggplant 2016-12-16T06:05:00

@Lukbebalduke Thanks! Unfortunately I didn't have a lot of time due to having to study for finals. Hopefully next time I can make something better.

@phoenix1987 Thank you, I appreciate that!

@Uruca Games There should've been music and sound effects. If you didn't hear anything a glitch must have occurred.

Cocoa Catastrophe by Eggplant 2016-12-17T03:32:00

@fafastudio Thanks! Unfortunately I didn't have a lot of time when I made it so it ended up a bit simplistic. The music is something I made up really quickly in GarageBand, but it's meant to sound Christmas-like.

@Hempuli Hmm...maybe he was too busy to describe what he wanted and the elf didn't want to risk asking? Honestly I didn't bother with that part. XD

@acotis Hm, you shouldn't have to middle click. On my computer left clicking works fine. I should have made the return more obvious too. Thanks for the feedback!

@Yvanor Thank you, I appreciate that.

Alien Night by edve98 2016-12-15T22:12:00

I thought it was cool that you made a terminal based game! I think there's some good potential here for this to become a great roguelike. Good job!

I've Seen This Room Twice Already by gelisam 2016-12-16T18:09:00

I couldn't run it on OSX. I get the error: thread 'main' panicked at 'called `Result::unwrap()` on an `Err` value: "Could not load \'\"big-font.png\"\': IoError(Error { repr: Os { code: 2, message: \"No such file or directory\" } })"', src/libcore/result.rs:799

Alter Void by fafastudio 2016-12-16T18:57:00

It was fun! The mechanics were good. It took a little bit for me to get used to moving the room but I figured it out. I like the art as well.

Killing Room by Leeman 2016-12-12T01:05:00

I had some weirdness on the Linux version. It caused my computer to crash and restart.

Linux link is 404'd.

To The Death by waterytart 2016-12-15T22:34:00

I tried the online link (I'm on linux) but it says you removed it.

Grounded by VoodooCrawfish 2016-12-15T22:15:00

Don't label your download "Web" if it doesn't run in a browser.

Bat Cave by schizoid2k 2016-12-15T22:40:00

I enjoyed it. It reminds me of Phoenix and Galaga, and other classic arcade shooter games. The only complaint I can think of is that you start off of the screen, and it's possible to run off the side. Otherwise good job.

Frog Test by groverburger 2016-12-16T18:23:00

It looks cute from the screenshots but I couldn't run it.

Tanks with Friends by blubberquark 2016-12-15T22:18:00

The download link is 404'd.

Learning by The Nintendo Fanboy 2016-12-16T18:24:00

It looks interesting but I wasn't able to run it.

Zombie Lockout by wviper3 2016-12-16T18:49:00

I have the same issue as martincohen. The link is 404'd.

Waiter Simulator 2017!1! by gcardozo 2016-12-16T19:06:00

It looks interesting, but you shouldn't label your download as "Web" unless it runs in a browser. If you have to download something with the game be sure to label it "Windows" or "OSX" or "Linux" depending on what OS it's supposed to go with.

Don't Escape by dringy 2016-12-15T22:24:00

I was a little confused at the "Don't lap" clue. An interesting idea nonetheless. Good job!

Supermarket Runner by Benolot 2016-12-15T22:28:00

The controls seemed a bit stiff. It's a neat little runner though. Good job on Ludum Dare!

Jumper by Undefined Programming 2016-12-15T22:33:00

Hm, doesn't seem to work. I get a "javax.imageio.IIOException: Can't read input file!". My game is in Java as well. Did you use the standard libraries? If so it may be a problem with how you're loading image assets.
