Suddenly, Ninjas by atomic_swerve 2013-08-26T04:45:00
I'm used to working with a +1 for art and general assets, I definitely agree with you. I think my #1 focus for the next three months is going to be practicing 3D and 2D art.

I love bullet hell games, this is good! Only thing I might suggest is better feedback when taking damage, and less "spawning into a cluster of enemies."
Very amazing. I enjoy the mechanic of "holding" your bomb, unlike similar SHUMPs where you have a stock of them. I think it would be more fun to have a faster stream of weak bullets, instead of staggered one-shotters, but all in all the difficulty level is good and it has great replayability.
Known bug: game ending doesn't, erm, end. Also some strange lighting issues when you're playing on anything less than FANTASTIC quality.
I had fun, but the transitions between levels inevitably involved some mutilation. If there was a slight pause to let the player get their bearings, that would at least make it feel more fair :)
Thanks for the feedback, everyone! Another few hours definitely would have led to some finished textures for the player and obstacles, but such is Ludum Dare.
As far as the length goes, I actually had the ability to spin up new levels in seconds...But I felt the game got tedious (and difficult) with more content. That would probably get fixed if I implemented powerups or more dynamic obstacles down the road!
I liked it! Very foreboding, but after the initial scare quite easy even without the flares. Good animations.
Love the idea, just wish the controls were a little tighter. Try setting velocities directly rather than using that super gradual addforce.
I liked it! Great juice. The damage could have been communicated a little better (didn't realize the tongue took damage), but I kept trying after losing, so that's saying something. Good work!
Lovely concept, I love dynamic audio effects. There's a lot of depth to the gameplay that keeps it challenging and replayable. Great job!
I thought the story premise was pretty fun, but the blaster shot sfx got old REALLY fast. I liked the effects of the scrolling textures. Oh, and your Web link is just to the .jar
Utterly ridiculous. Huge fun. The controls could be tighter, and the volume is a little out of control when the player dies...But otherwise, I'm impressed at the amount of art you got done and the hilarity of the physics.
Gotta say, a little bit of audio and this would be one of my favorite submissions :)
Fun concept, I enjoyed it. Maybe get less grating sfx though.
I had fun, but the controls were a little difficult to manage. Sticking against a wall while falling was the biggest issues, followed by sometimes only digging one space instead of 2.
Seriously great game. Very polished, but I'm not really sure how it fits with the theme.
Fun, but I didn't get any audio for some reason. I like the atmosphere of the pumping blood!
One small change that would have improved this for me tremendously - often I would find myself running off a platform when I know I jumped in time, and I think that was due to the curved tops of the platforms causing me to not be grounded right when I wanted to jump.
It's fun to see an adventure game in LD, but I definitely felt there could have been more variety in the conversations. Didn't really feel like talking to anyone was leading anywhere.
Only real frustration is the camera hanging behind the player when moving quickly...Otherwise, I love the mood and the dark humour.
So much blood. Pretty fun :)
Seems like this was just my experience, but the controls sometimes seemed to take a while to respond. It would be really nice to see some acknowledgement that speed was increasing, etc. I wasn't sure if I had to hold down the button or just press it once.
Short and sweet. The sideways hook mechanics were a little odd, but it was fun gaming the AI a few rounds!
Okay, based on the comments I have to be the first person to have discovered your theme :) VERY cute, VERY excellent secret, the only complaint I have is that your hit detection stops at one target. This is the ONLY game I will EVER 5-star. New reviewers, if you haven't discovered what's Beneath the Surface you haven't really played this game!
I was not able to run the exe. I got the Windows safety prompt, but then no game :(
@masamunedragon you and me both! Despite room for 5000, I've only seen up to 10 people on during the "stress test" :(
Alright guys, I had to take the server down due to ridonk costs and no-one playing. Sorry, but the game won't work anymore!
I like your graphics, for sure!
I love tether mechanics. Nice job! Music was a little too compressed, though
I think I figured it out, though it would be good to have a solver that will say "good job, you've maxed out this level" if the goal is the score.
I really enjoyed your use of ambient background sound effects. I wish that the mouse was used for aiming and turning, or that there was some way of snapping the camera back to the way the player is facing. Really fun sphereworld, though!
Very difficult to predict when a world swap would be needed, had the floor fall out from me a couple of times!
Pretty fun :) Some SFX for an enemy approaching would be really great though, it was tough to tell where things would be coming from.
Thanks everyone! I should have prioritized some instructions, I didn't realize audio wouldn't play on some devices (including mobile). After 12 seconds you can "do something new" that triggers on any input. Sorry about that!
