Really fun! Nice. Press any key to revive didn't seem to work. This is a nice concept for a game... very Hammerwatch-y and addictive. Love the sound effects, pixel art is cool. Needs more monster variation and some kind of defensive power.

I would pay good money for an expanded version of this with some more things to kill, As it stands at the moment it is great fun, I have collected my artifacts and I am just going around killing things. Up to level 40 :D

Good fun game with some depth to it. I like the sprites and the tile system for the world. The events for the artifacts are really tense and make for great tension points. The only thing is that when you die you respawn in the same place. Good overall game.

Hi, nice game and congratulations ! We're realizing a video with several games of the Ludum Dare #36. We made the same thing at the previous jam.

Can you add your game on indiexpo.net ? (it's free)
So we can include also your game in the video ;)
p.s. write #LDJAM in the game's description.

@steph88 Done, here's the link: http://www.indiexpo.net/de/games/lost-artifacts

Can you tell me where I'll find the video?

Very cute game! And fun! :)

Great game! I had a lot of fun playing it. I haven't decided if it is better to be a wizard of fire or a sorcerer of falling earth. Either was it was a lot of fun. Simple mechanics and easy to learn. Great job. I would suggest that perhaps the character could move a little bit faster though, dodging enemies wasn't exactly a thing.

fun game, loved the tiles and the art in general. Pretty good entry. Would be nice to know a bit more on each of the attacks.

Good call on the upgrade system, definitely made me keep playing a lot longer than normal.

Really fun and addictive game, had a great time playing. The art is awesome and the sound is very good too. Took me some time to notice the experience drops, maybe make them a little bigger would help. Very fun and polished game. Congrats!

I thought it was a fun game that I enjoyed all the way through.

Really fun game and you get powerful quick. Takes me back to playing gauntlet clones on PC but with upgrades I wish they had.

huvaakoodia 2016-09-02 08:22

Competently made, but I have to agree with QwaKlak, there's no challenge after a few upgrades.

A linear power creep like this only works if the late stage enemies also become orders of magnitude more dangerous, which is not the case here.

Another possility is limiting the maximum effect of the upgrades. Rather than 10x castings speed at lvl 10 make that 2-3X. Each level gives a less visible boost, but the player will feel the change and you evade power creep.

A third option, the most preferred yet most expensive, is making each upgrade into its own skill/action. This is what ARPGs do to great effect, but of course 42 hours probably isn't enough to create enough interesting, well polished skills.

First impressions:
Really awesome game :)
I like the RPG style and leveling up and upgrade system.
I couldn't see any use for the stone spell tho.
The art and sound are nice and they create a nice mood.
I also like the fact that you respawn instantly without losing anything, which makes it good for LD entry. Maybe for published game you can change that, but for a small test it was a good choice :)
As a note, it doesn't seem to work in Firefox, dunno why.

Cheers,
Morco (LittleDoomDevs)
