Neat idea that would deserve to be explored further, but with a more sturdy character control / char-world interaction engine. Currently you can do all kind of weird stuff like getting stuck on walls in the elevator shaft or mini double-jumping... odd.

That said... that music!!

wr4th88 2016-08-29 13:04

Impressive game! I like the music, and the artwork is very consistent.

cortica 2016-08-29 18:34

I simply want more! Amazing!

2016-08-29 18:39

Really open to new possibilities and ideas, just keep the mechanics and don't crowd the space with things.
It's a pitty it was so short =P

Btw, it was unexpected that the character did not move when I changed screen, although I had "right" pressed. Not a major issues!

geckoo1337 2016-08-29 21:02

Clever project with a fun aesthetic - which reminds me PICO engine color and pixelart. The puzzle game is interesting and the background music hypnotical. Great entry ++

qogqog 2016-08-29 21:40

Really fun mechanics, could make a great full game, although you'll want to be careful about avoiding having to adjust platforms you can't see onscreen.

mr-chippy 2016-08-29 23:44

Fun game. The art was nice. The audio was really good. The controls were a bit weird. Well done.

djfariel 2016-08-30 03:24

Nice game. Simple mechanics that still offered a decent amount of challenge. Great job! The only con I can think of is that the jump was a little bit weak.

olkeencole 2016-08-30 05:40

I'm always impressed with the cool stuff people do with simple art and mechanics. Goes to show how much farther I still have to go to being a good game developer. Great job! I enjoyed the game very much.

mettra 2016-08-30 06:37

Very ancient, much technology. Very short unfortunately. I really like the music, the art is cool. The jump feels really floaty and imprecise.

2016-08-30 06:37

Hi, nice game and congratulations !Simple mechanics! We're realizing a video with several games of the Ludum Dare #36. We made the same thing at the previous jam.

Can you add your game on indiexpo.net ? (it's free)
So we can include also your game in the video ;)
p.s. write #LDJAM in the game's description.

depp 2016-08-30 10:02

@steph88: The game is already free to play on my website, I don't see the value in reposting it somewhere else. Of course you can record a video, you don't need any permission for that.

justinooncx 2016-08-30 20:33

A short, yet very well-polished game! Love the art and the atmosphere, and the puzzles were pretty interesting. Has a lot of promise if you continue with it!

guennor 2016-08-30 22:01

Great game!

I loved the music. Did you compose it yourself? Good job!!!

Also, was the voice of the character made by mumbling using a kazoo? Because it definitely felt like it. Sounded funny and unique!

juxipolo 2016-08-31 04:12

This is a very solid start. It feels like a lot of good puzzle platforming could come from the timing and the moving pieces. I wish it kept going.

elit3dgaming 2016-08-31 19:08

Really fun platformer the puzzles are fun and I was able to finish the game. Graphics are great and controls are very smooth. Would love to see more levels added.

urielgamedev 2016-08-31 20:07

It's a pretty simple concept but it works great with the theme and the puzzles are funny to play ! Also I love the art and music :)

g12345 2016-08-31 22:37

This is a good start for a great puzzle platform game.

The graphics are sufficient, the controls are okay (I had problems with unresponsive keys the first time i play, and the second time the space key only scroll me down the html page, but the third time it worked.).

The music is very atmospheric... so all you need is more levels now!

junber 2016-09-01 15:27

Nice game. I loved the music and also quite liked the art. There could have been more levels but the ones that were there well designed (even though it would have helped to see the red platform from the ground in the last level). The jump felt very floaty maybe higher gravity could have improved the feel of it. Altogether a really good entry.

threelivesgames 2016-09-01 16:05

Nice. Good art, the music was really good, and the mechanics were solid. Agree that the jump could have had a little more car put into it. I'd love to see more!

Also nice dialogue sfx!

xesenix 2016-09-01 17:29

Really good music pretty graphics only a little bit short. There are some problem with controls game seams to lag sometimes when jumping. Finish it :)

rjhelms 2016-09-03 02:15

Really cool! I loved the puzzle design and the aesthetics - music and sound were great.

This would be so much fun to play more of.

ghen 2016-09-03 02:16

really good pixelated graphics!, the control very smooth but a bit weird

i'm really happy that you bind your jump control into "space" , at least that my preferable control for platforming and you probably the only one so far that use it

by i meant weird is, its responsive, but the jump control a bit floaty and have this weird float feeling to the character, probably gravity setting problem, but i'm not sure, not a game breaking, just a bit weird, thats all

the music also complement a lot to the game

puzzle quite straightforward and easy to solve

very solid entry :D

bentglasstube 2016-09-04 15:44

Awesome concept, great pixel art, and I loved the music and sounds.

Jumping off the moving platforms seemed a bit buggy but otherwise I really enjoyed the game.

Just needs more levels :)

lonespelunker 2016-09-05 08:13

Nice. I liked the style and presentation of this game.

Unfortunately, I was largely unable to play it. There was something up with the jumps in that second level where when I'd try to jump over to the platform where I'd moved it, the character would start moving significantly more slowly, and it ended up making it impossible to get across that level. (Assuming I get what you're supposed to do - step on the pressure plate to move the platform about halfway between the two sections, and then jump from one to the other to get to the second pressure plate, yes?) It ended up feeling really "floaty" on those jumps, and I suspect it wasn't behaving as intended.

Also, I felt bad for that cat down in the well in the first level. You should be able to rescue it. (Or can you?)

As other commenters have said, the music was pretty good for a compo. Well done.

depp 2016-09-05 15:11

@LoneSpelunker: I've seen the issue with slow movement happen if you have a lot of tabs open, depending on what browser and what kind of computer you have. I'm not sure what causes this problem, there wasn't enough time to get at the root cause of things during the compo.

eggplant 2016-09-05 17:51

I really enjoyed it. The art was very well done, and the music as well. I would love to see more if you're going to continue developing it.

narkhos 2016-09-05 18:28

Cool music and pixel art graphics ! Jumping to skip dialog is a bit strange. On my first run I skipped the first dialog box because I tried to avoid the incomming character thinking it was an enemy (Did I drink too much coffee ? lol)
Your game is really promissing and I want to see more of it.
Keep the good work !

saucygames 2016-09-06 01:53

the puzzle design is sweet! Please make more! jumping was a bit weird as some have said before me, great music. I felt it needed some drum patterns early on in the song. again make more levels! i was like what the end! so soon noooo!!!

kazik_210 2016-09-06 16:31

Incredible game! I love this soundtrack <3 I wish the game was longer :<

mrmordem 2016-09-07 12:26

Nice job on the atmosphere, the aesthetics with the music added to the mechanisms really give the ancient -and a bit weird in the good way- tech vibe.
The controls are good, except for the jump system who demands some try & repeat to "master".
It's a good idea to make a link between switches and platforms with the coloured cables and adds nicely to the general aesthetic.

ryusui 2016-09-11 22:31

Short but very well-made. Love the concept. Solid graphics and music, too. My only issue is that jumping feels a bit "floaty."

gfm 2016-09-11 23:30

You were in to something great... It's a pity that you ran out of time. =/

I really liked the graphics. There are a lot of details, like the coloring of switches and the BG. Even if simple, you paid a lot of attention to the graphics.

The songs greatly add to the game's mood. The "talking" sfx (and the kitten's) is lovely, and you did great to use a sfx to signal that the door that is out of view opened. I only missed a SFX for jumping/falling.

The mechanic was great for puzzles and you did a great introduction/"tutorial"! On that note, I believe I noticed something interesting on the entrance...
Since the player is on the switch, on the last line of the guy at the entrance, the door briefly starts to close as you advance the text, showing that it will close when you pass (and reinforcing what the NPC said). Was it intentional? If so, it was an amazing introduction to the game's main mechanic and story telling!

2016-09-22 19:49

The art is simple but amazing. I really like the gameplay idea. The movement could be slightly improved but besides that if developed completely - that could be amazing game! :)
