LD28 — You Only Get One

Neighbors From Hell by Slader16 2013-12-17T06:13:00

Something that annoys me quite a bit and I see it happen with a lot of unity games.
People leave the cursor enabled with first person or third person games. You can fix this with one line of code ( Screen.showCursor = false;)

Endless Night by Guennor 2013-12-18T00:56:00

@Ysty, thanks for the compliment.
The objects textures are missing and stuff. And the enemy doesn't appear in this version. But anyway thanks for playing and sorry for not being able to complete it ):

Endless Night by Guennor 2013-12-18T20:49:00

@Joror Actually it was going to be some kind of survival with just a little of humor.
You would play as a one armed guy who could only use/have one tool at a moment. With the seed you could plant a tree. With the bucket you could get water to make the tree grow faster. But you need to be careful with the water, because it spills everywhere when you have it equipped, and it could put out your fire. With the Ax you could chop the tree to get wood, so you could put it in the fire and make it bigger. And with the dart you could use your blowpipe to hit the enemy, that would come whenever your campfire burned out.
You would start the game with only one match, so you could start the fire. Whenever your fire burned out it would be an almost game over, the only way to survive would be to keep shooting the monster that would come and trying to grab the fallen dart as soon as the monster is killed.
Anyway, i'll try to finish it one day, in a more organized way. I was too sleepy and couldn't think straight so that's what made it difficult to finish.

SUS: The Game (Brazilian hospital SIM) by Ricardo Bencz 2013-12-19T22:08:00

Nice job. I'm a fellow brazilian and only by watching the news I can confirm that this game shows something that's really happening.

LD29 — Beneath the Surface

Grow by weazen 2014-04-27T15:32:00

Your game mechanics is similar to mine, but not exactly the same thing, phew.
But good job! I like the graphics.

Under the kitchen surface by lorniebear 2014-04-27T00:33:00

Not bad, assuming you're a little kid. Good luck beating your dad. I wanna see his game also. :P

MINER ESCAPE!! by NickRock 2014-04-27T01:41:00

Change the folder to "everyone with the link can access" or something.

Magma Surfer by r2d2upgrade 2014-04-27T00:36:00

The "web" link directed me to a webpage where I needed to download the game. I don't think it's a web link, then.
Anyway, good job with the graphics and sound :)

LD30 — Connected Worlds

John and the Arbitrary Gem Hunt by SteveSalmond 2014-08-29T13:27:00

It's hard to see good 3D games in ludum dare. We mostly only see pixel art everywhere.
Congratulations, the game is amazing!

Elevator by longloaf 2014-08-25T02:47:00

Dude, let me teach you something:
Screen.showCursor = false;
Screen.lockCursor = true;
It's just two lines of code. Seems like everyone who makes FPSs for game jams doesn't know about them. But they make these kinds of games so, so much better.

The Astronaut by danielbw 2014-08-26T14:36:00

I think the "web" link is supossed to lead to a page where you play the game online, not a page to download the game (in this case it would be a PC version or something like that).

The Astronaut by danielbw 2014-08-26T14:44:00

The game's ok for a first ludum dare. Congratulations!
Here's a tip:
As you're working with unity, next time, if you want to make a REAL web version, do the following:
-Go to file > Build Settings
-Choose "web player".
-Choose a location to make a folder for your web game.
-When unity's done, copy the folder to a public folder in your dropbox, google drive or something like that.
-When dbox or gdrive finishes uploading, right click the .html file inside the folder and copy its public link. Now just paste it on your browser to play the game via web!

LD36 — Ancient Technology

PALEO by RIPPorkins 2016-08-30T04:57:00

This game has GREAT potential. I love this type of game.

I wish it had any kind of sound. Also, it's annoying that the log keeps resetting and going up and back to the newest entry.

Overall it's a nice game, and the idea is fantastic. I'd love to see a more polished version of this.

No Mario's Sky by eigenbom 2016-08-30T19:58:00

The controls are not very precise while on land, but the art is really nice.

There is only a thing that deeply annoys me - what does this have to do with the theme? There are plenty of simple games who put at least a bit of effort into trying to fit with the theme - this game seemingly doesn't even try. It feels like a game idea that was had without consideration for the theme, and as it was a cool theme-less idea, but a cool idea anyway, so you decided to put it here to get a "free audience" for it.

Don't want to be rude, i'm just trying to figure out what went on. I don't doubt there is a valid explanation.

Wilderness Survival by ZQMony 2016-08-30T04:15:00

On medium difficulty it's kinda hard to run away from bunnies AND turn arround to shoot at them.

Music is weird, but at least the game has music.

The grass tiles could have a minimal amount of detail instead of being 100% of the same color to help player notices spatial displacement.

Greek Sea VR by goodbadokay 2016-08-30T19:17:00

Cardboard represent!

Nice to see some cardboard games but it's a shame that it doesn't fully use cardboard controls. It would be more fun if I was able to shoot using the magnet ring, as automatic shooting removes a bit of the immersion. This doesn't exactly categorize as a game as there are no time constraints or score. It would be nice if the ships moved and shot you back. Did you model the ships yourself? They look great. Though I feel they need some sort of texture.

Ancient Video Games by kikijones2001 2016-08-30T07:00:00

Congratulations on finishing your first ludum dare! Good job :)

I found a bug, I lost to the first pong match and when the game restarted I couldn't start the game again.

Also the controls in pong are sluggish and the AI is kinda hard to fool.

A fairly well implemented idea, but sadly it's a bit unoriginal - I just played a game with the same premise.

Your Factory by oostap 2016-08-30T19:10:00

This is an excelent game. It's easy to see that care was put into making it and polishing it.

The music fits perfectly with the game and loops really well. The graphics were good and worked well to create a serious mood along with the music. The fact that it has russian localization is also really cool. Seems like a hard game to do injust 48/72 hours! Congratulations!

Ancient Technology by tonynogo 2016-08-30T05:45:00

I don't think this is a game. It's more of an interactive experience.

When on fullscreen, the mouse position is not aligned with the button pressed.

Also, it's mind blowing that it's 2016 and there are still people using the theme of the jam as the name of their games.

ARTYS by WASD 2016-08-30T05:55:00

Hey yo. You took some time to play my game, I shall do the same to yours!

I love the art, even if there is just an almost still image, it suits the overall feeling that the game gives.

The music is eerie and sad and goes super well with the art.

One improvement you could do is to try to filter some "noise text" that the player inputs. When he asked my name I tried to naturally talking to him saying "My name is igor", and he kept calling me "my name is igor" until the end. Filtering could also help avoid players who input just "." as answers (this happened to me, so the story was really vague).

Overall it's a nice game and every aspect of it fits really well together.

Well done!!

Flying Elsewhere by fancyN3rd 2016-08-30T19:33:00

Nice to see some cardboard games getting made.

I played for a bit and didn't find anything, is there anything other than trees?

The yellow background and wind sound gives this a very apocalyptic, sickness-riddled world kind of vibe. This has great potential, if you maybe add some nice aerodynamics to the craft it would be cool.

Good job!

Helepolis : Make It To the Siege by olkeencole 2016-08-30T06:21:00

Nice concept! Oh and thanks for exporting a web version, much easier to test!

It would be nice to hear some destruction sounds when crashing into things.

Deus Vult by thatsBamboo 2016-08-30T02:43:00

The game is really simple (that's a good thing), and I LOVED the concept. Turn based movement to real time battles. Also I love the advance wars-esque mechanic of starting on the platform if you start a battle in a mountain tile. I suggest that you add what controls do, as I took some time to realize that you attack using the mouse instead of the enter key. Congratulations!

Ninurta: Granary Defense by kraiom 2016-08-30T02:51:00

Not sure if it bugged but it didn't had any sound! It's a shame because the graphics are very nice, except for the background because it feels a little out of place and stretched. Overall, nice job!

Backwoods Culinary Basics by skreeb 2016-08-30T06:34:00

Even though it's technically not a game, more of an interactive experience, I really enjoyed it!

I made sautéed meat and pods. Then tried to make something with more ingredients and dropped half of it in the floor/fire. I had some laughs, this is actually quite funny and could serve as the basis for a really cool cooking mini game inside of a survival game or something. Good job guys!

Are you actually siblings? This is very cool! Did you actually record yourselves frying bacon? Very awesome as well!

Lazer Patriarch by AODQ 2016-08-30T21:55:00

Nice work with the graphics. Try to balance the volume a bit, when enemies shoot you it's a little too loud compared to the rest of the audio. It scared me!

But anyway, good job!

Shimagotchi by Threef 2016-08-30T19:38:00

Too bad there isn't much to do in this game - the idea sure is promising. I love pixelated procedural islands. Good job and if you add more things to the game let me know :)

WindPowered! by Guennor 2016-08-29T23:32:00

Yo, @Traf d-Lo, I switched to WebGL, now it should run fine on any browser. Sorry about that!

WindPowered! by Guennor 2016-08-30T07:03:00

I played and commented on a few games and came back to mine to see lots of comments. Thanks for the feedback guys! I really appreciate it!

WindPowered! by Guennor 2016-08-30T20:39:00

haha @AODQ good job! The game is buggy as hell, I should've put some more time into bugfixing. Thanks for commenting :)

Dino Hipster Survival by zulman 2016-08-30T04:19:00

The effects are awesome.

Not sure about what missile range increase does. Also at least on web version it's possible to see the "seam" of the tile to the left of earth's sprite.

Fort Deep Search by Wevel 2016-08-30T06:53:00

I love this kind of game but it was tough understanding what was happening - I have no idea what the buttons do. Maybe some tooltips would be useful.

Pigtraptions by HawkSandwich 2016-08-30T06:45:00

A little confusing as at least during gameplay, there is nothing telling what each block does. But I love contraption games so it was a cool experience.

Though there are some annoyances like for example, when you test your contraptions and restart, it resets everything you built. Also, rotating is annoying, having to right click and click on rotate multiple times is kind of a burden.

There is a bug that when you retrieve a block, it goes back to the wrong block so your block counts get all messed up.

Oh and the graphics are really good!

Buried Maze by Thirzen 2016-08-30T04:08:00

134 MB is a little too much, specially for such a short game. Try finding a way to compress your assets.

Stamina drains too quickly and replenishes too slowly. Same for mana.

Hard to know if you hit the... fire things because there is no feedback when you hit them.

Can't say anything for the 3d assets but good job with the level design.

SMASH BASH: Sukhov vs Zombies by SMASH BASH 2016-08-30T22:25:00

The art is amazing, I can't believe you guys did it in such a short time. Compliments to your pixel artist!

The music is awesome, fits really well with the universe you created. Nice work!

Cannon Party by stuckne1 2016-08-30T06:47:00

Could be more enjoyable if there was a mouse lock. I kept clicking outside of the screen and couldn't play it properly :/

BronzePunk by tintreas 2016-08-30T06:00:00

Not my type of game, but it's definitely well made. The background music fits well with the overall mood that the art provides. You crafted a really interesting world. Didn't play past the part where you make bronze, but it seems like the kind of game where the devs actually stopped to think the game design through.

Museum by qkerguelen 2016-08-30T02:35:00

Thoughtful take on the theme. Congratulations, making 3 minigames inside the full game sounds like hard work!

Carp Diem by pogo575 2016-08-30T06:57:00

Do carps actually eat each other in real life? Anyway, cool game, did you do the animations yourself? They look nice.

Also, head on collisions should spare the health of both parties involved, that way the game would last longer.

Homecoming by adaFish 2016-08-30T03:00:00

I put everything into the "keep" box because that's what I would do in real life I guess. But when I was trying to put the cellphone into the box it bounced off the wall and fell somewhere under the bed so I couldn't get it ):

Anyway, nice game and I love the concept. I don't know if there are any more rooms but it's good project managing if you guys planned the game to have only one or a few rooms in it, due to the time you had to do it.

The Golem by Matzigon 2016-08-30T22:13:00

Amazing 3D graphics. It's incredible that you were able to put it all together for the jam. It is also really polished so bonus points for that! Congratulations :)

Goblin Defence! by Senor Salty 2016-08-30T02:47:00

The music is super... funny haha it makes me laugh, it's so odd! I can't seem to kill the big guys with swords. I spray them with arrows and it doesn't do nothing. It's a nice concept, but needs a lot of polishing.

Lanterns Light by johnasebok 2016-08-30T06:26:00

Ambitious to make a 3D turn based game on a game jam. Congratulations on finishing it.

Just a tip, "players" are the people playing your game - maybe you should call the units in your game "units" or "characters" or something.

Lost Temple by Dietrich Epp 2016-08-30T22:01:00

Great game!

I loved the music. Did you compose it yourself? Good job!!!

Also, was the voice of the character made by mumbling using a kazoo? Because it definitely felt like it. Sounded funny and unique!

Artifact Hunter by CMLSC 2016-08-30T04:31:00

The WASD to move and JKL for powers seems like a very right-handed centered layout. I'm left handed and it was really awkward to play. It's a shame there is no option to switch because it seems like a game I would enjoy.

GameBoyz don't cry by neural 2016-08-30T19:02:00

hahaha definitely the most WTF game i've played so far. The music makes me laugh. Actually everything makes me laugh. The animations remind me of that "Really3D" channel on youtube.

Ancient Ranger with Ultimate Technology by Kitkom 2016-08-30T06:10:00

It's a complete game with implemented basic mechanics, music, sound effects and UI, so that's pretty good for a game jam. But it has some balancing issues, like the fact that is super easy to get swarmed even on level 1. I have no idea why the slingshot is so high up, looks like the person is holding it with their arm held up above their head. Movement is also very sluggish even while sprinting.

I found an outstanding bug - if you get swarmed and you keep jumping, the creatues will stack on one another and you'll get to incredible heights. Though you will take lots of damage in the process.

LD37 — One room

Bedtime Fright by misteak 2016-12-13T18:28:00

Best game so far. Every aspect of the game is really well done. To finish a game that has multiple levels requiring level design on each one is a really tough task, and you guys managed to do it. The only thing that I thought didn't make sense was that you could "die" on the room where your dad is. I know it would make the level design a little more complex, but to make more sense, that should be a safe room.

But overall this is a great game!
