i like the idea of Fog that you have implemented, as an idea on its own, but honestly, it was painful for the eye as it is.

i couldnt find what was the goal of the game/level nor how to kill the thing that keeps attacking me.

but, i must say, you've put quite a bit of effort into it, good job :) .
i guess you just focused more on the code and less on other stuff.

and i must say, it is very nice and its even nicer that it uses a personal game engine. keep up the good work.

Found how to shoot enemies, and its {Z} button, and nicely done with the shots revealing map and stuff, its a neat move.
good job as i said before

Nice work with the graphics. Try to balance the volume a bit, when enemies shoot you it's a little too loud compared to the rest of the audio. It scared me!

But anyway, good job!

Really cool lighting effects, and a very ambitious game. It's a really good start, but I wasn't sure what I was supposed to do. You didn't list the controls in the game or in the comments, so I jammed buttons on my keyboard till my character moved and shot lazers. I read your comments about unlocking doors, but took multiple deaths before I ever figured out what a block was, and had to read the ini file to figure out how to move it. Still never managed to find a block and a switch in the same game soon enough to move a block onto one.

GEE that was a horror game... a warning would be nice -.-

nice consept, try to make the character walk continually while holding down a button, and add WASD support. nice sound.

kalliber 2016-08-30 23:46

Controls are a little bit awkward but I enjoyed it. The audio gave me a headache when enemies would attack as it was a bit loud for me.

mrerdalural 2016-08-30 23:54

Good idea and potential. I loved the sprites. Though I would not have chosen a tile based game system for this kind of game.

There are bugs and lags but I am sure you are aware of them.

Overall good job. Keep it up!

Not gonna lie, that splash screen was creepy, but the gameplay was great and had a creepy atmosphere to it.

aaranos 2016-08-31 00:42

The game is pretty interesting. I found it lagged a lot, possibly spawning too many monsters unchecked. A bit of performance polish and this would easily be an arcade game.

kingpirux 2016-08-31 00:51

it makes me remember the times when the NES tryed really hard to create this kind of games with tons of things and that paused step by step, turn by turn movement have its own charm. Nice ambient and game but quite hard

headmade 2016-08-31 01:08

Very slick presentation, great intro, nice pixel art and audio.

The performance was very bad though, many slowdowns for no apparent reason (Win 10). This made the game almost unplayable and killed most of the fun.

Also I could not figure out what to do. After reading the description here I guess I know what I was supposed to do but I couldn't make it work in game. The level seems to be randomly generated, this really doesn't benefit the experience. I the game would work a lot better if the first few rooms/levels would be handmade. You could then teach the player about the mechanics and introduce them one at a time.

Gloomy! The design of enemies really menacing and some sudden shots from the darkness totally caught me off guard.
The increasing lightness gives the nice feeling of change and influence on the game.
Grid movement feels really uncomfortable which is not neccesa bad thing, considering overall atmosphere.
But messy levels without any indication where to go are real problem, hope to see to those fixed!

damdoshi 2016-08-31 14:32

It is nice. The graphics are cool, the objective is clear, we can play, there is challenge... The sound effects are convincing.

It is nice that some actions actually have an impact on light, it makes it a real part of the game, and not only pure graphics.

The movement on the grid is a little annoying. I think you can keep your grid if you change a little the way your character walk. If it can me smoother, it will be more pleasant.

casevse 2016-08-31 14:49

Great for those who like exploring, the graphics are nice. The framerate slows down sometimes. Good work!

xakkar 2016-08-31 17:01

Cool game)

kazik_210 2016-08-31 17:12

A fun game with a good dark atmosphere :D I really like graphic style! The only problem i noticet during the game is movement it's little annoying :<

siberiancyborgs666 2016-08-31 18:00

Naked woman in the beginning of the game is promising! It's like a maze with laser minotaurs!

insality 2016-08-31 18:03

wow! roguelike-like game on LD? and implementet so good? great :)

First nice emotions got from your splashscreen
Next from very very beauty animations-effects (based on light). Its superb

But hard to understand you goal, but perfect game prototype!
DO IT MORE QUALITY! :)

bloodjohn 2016-08-31 18:35

Cute rogelike. I love lazer and play of light.
Over time, the game slows down more and more. Memory leak?

mewsoul 2016-08-31 21:09

That is a nice game to play! Moreover the map is generated randomly so it's like another experience every time.

What you did with the fog on the map that gets lighter with the shots is a great job!

Just one thing that some other pointed out is the fact that playing over the time was getting laggy, so it ruined a bit the experience. :(

jacksendary 2016-08-31 21:11

Very confusing game and for some reason it was lagging? not sure why but gave up after 5 minutes due to it being unplayable, also I did not see how I was suppose to move blocks?

aroscillo 2016-08-31 21:33

My comments are honest and to the point I played every game I commented on maybe you should find another place to post your hate mail.

mvasko2 2016-08-31 21:38

Wow, this is scary. The first time a monster appeared, I nearly jumped out of my chair.

The game is incredibly well polished, graphics and sound-wise. It generates a really nice scary atmosphere. Just like some other commenters mentioned though, I battled performance issues more than monsters, and that damaged the whole experience.

I can also relate to not knowing what I was supposed to do, something like a tutorial level would be nice.

Also, I need to mention the logo... so good-looking and sounding, and so weird all at the same time. Good job I guess?

narkhos 2016-09-04 20:12

I love the design and sounds. The light effect, shaded block by block, reminds me of 16 bit era and is really cool. I would have prefered moving freely rather than block by block because it hurt the eyes a bit and break the action.
Otherwise it's a really promising game with a well transcribed dark athmosphere :)
