LD30 — Connected Worlds

Space Freight by maxking1234 2014-08-26T16:02:00

Why is my ship so super slooooow?

Attack of the Holodorks by gritfish 2014-08-25T17:25:00

It's really hard to tell what terrain can be walked on. Goal is unclear and I don't see how the game fits the theme.

Train Connect! by joonamo 2014-08-25T21:29:00

This is Japans QWOP, I like it :)

Ivy by juaxix 2014-08-25T17:37:00

Great art but it was unclear to me what my goal was. The robot at the beginning was talking too much so I didn't read it :P

Hypnagogia by Cake&Code 2014-08-27T14:09:00

Very repetitive game, but niece graphics.

GalactiTrader by recursor 2014-08-25T21:40:00

Oh man, before watching your youtube video explaining things I was completely lost. I've got it now, but I still struggle to predict how much influence I will gain from a trade. Still a nice concept.

APOLLO by graebor 2014-08-25T16:44:00

Interesting concept and stylish graphics. Well done.

Above and Below by zakchaos 2014-08-25T17:42:00

The fish controls like a sack of potatoes and the bar at the top could really use a higher contrast. Sorry that I can't say anything positive about the game, I don't want to bash, I'm just being honest.

The Link by simonnaus 2014-08-27T15:19:00

Great looks and sound.

I would like to see how much energy I have left.

Holodeck Adventures by rejooh 2014-08-25T18:15:00

Fantastic pixel art!

Going Postal by OxyOxspring 2014-08-27T16:58:00

Great writing and humor!

New World by LabOne 2014-08-25T18:32:00

Chrome is warning me that the zip and exe downloads are malicious. I ran it from source and it seemed ok.

Ships can get stuck in each other and it really is a shame that there are no sound effects. I don't see how this game fits the theme.

Red Entity by danbo 2014-08-26T19:16:00

Excellent graphics and the game has a very vlambeerish feel (that's a good thing in my book).

But what does it have to do with the theme?

Provider Bob by Cryunreal 2014-08-27T16:37:00

Great graphics and art design. I love how the guy smokes under his helmet, and how those fish creatures look.
Gameplay is repetitive but the item shop made me play for a bit more.

Molyneux God by Capitals 2014-08-25T17:57:00

Very interesting game and I would really like to understand it. But the tooltips over the icons are unreadable which makes it impossible to tell what will happen. The icons are useless too.
I really like the looks of the map though.

Fusion by TGL 2014-08-25T17:48:00

Crashed on startup :(

Cult Quest by barleyarley 2014-08-25T17:46:00

I'm getting a virus warning so I didn't dare to run it.

Parallel worlds by Druid 2014-08-25T16:31:00

Nice graphics but the trail and error gameplay wasn't for me.

I Think I Broke Something by Otrora Games 2014-08-27T11:58:00

I wish I could see which of the two portals would open so I could prepare to go there. Like this it really is a 50:50 chance of survival.
Nice graphics though.

Awe by Oddly Shaped Pixels 2014-08-27T11:41:00

Nice and relaxing. Audio and visuals work very well.

An inverted side by MiscEtc 2014-08-27T12:09:00

It worked for me and I liked it :) Some of the levels were pretty good.
This one of the few LD game I finished, to bad the game didn't recognize it and instead just started with the first level :/

Shattered by guimonpa 2014-09-08T19:37:00

Really polished and long entry, good job! My only complain is that the game doesn't fit the theme very well.

Tektix by PriorBlue 2014-08-25T17:51:00

As I can't play it with 4 players I can judge it only as a single player game.

Troika - how long will you cooperate? by Tomker 2014-08-25T17:17:00

I didn't understand at all what I was supposed to do.

Cluster Struck by RaysAndLazors 2014-08-26T16:49:00

Could you add a mirror please? Newsgrounds tries to play ads which crash my browser so I can't play your game.

Pipelines by xRubbermaid 2014-08-27T16:05:00

An ingame explanation/tutorial/instructions would be great as I couldn't figure out how I control the flow.

Don't Share! by Fumiko 2014-08-27T13:24:00

The web link is actually a download.

Tesseract by UoLCompSoc 2014-08-27T15:33:00

The combat didn't work for me. I tried to attack but couldn't choose a target. I liked the light hearted writing.

Dimension Jumps by HolyBlackCat 2014-08-27T16:11:00

Couldn't get past the first three rooms. I couldn't figure out what to do with the item that I collected (don't know what that was either).

Dimension Jumps by HolyBlackCat 2014-08-27T16:23:00

Sorry my comment was for a different game, mixed up the tabs

Starpiercer by Schrodinger Games 2014-08-27T15:09:00

Very impressive audio and graphics.
The boost is totally unsatisfying and the game lacks a goal.

Cubic's Adventure by RikMuld 2014-08-25T16:49:00

All I get is a blue screen (not the windows blue screen of death)

Bi-Bob by Donar 2014-08-25T16:56:00

I hated this three button segment, you lost me there.

Connect Home by BitOfGold 2014-08-26T19:23:00

Nice clean graphics.
I would really prefer tile based movement though. It's really annoying when I push a block and it only moves halfway or if I slightly miss it.

World Portals by Keevinw 2014-08-25T16:19:00

Crashed + Ads

Dark Pixels by Banderi 2014-08-27T15:58:00

Nice visuals, I just wish there was more to do.

Cyber Goopy by TurboViking 2014-08-27T17:35:00

The transition between the two worlds works very smoothly.

A Game of Worlds Colliding by Dx724 2014-08-27T13:36:00

The game worked for me. Keep working hard and one day you might make a great game. Starting at a young age is a huge advantage.

Hyperactive Hamster Fusion by Luin 2014-08-26T18:49:00

Won't start for me either :(

Super Galactic Trader by JoeDev_net 2014-08-25T17:11:00

Great puzzle game. Really like the clean art style. I would like to skip a level I'm stuck on.

School Schism by SusanTheCat 2014-08-27T13:56:00

I always like watching timelapse videos.

Schrodinghost by Carduus 2014-09-11T22:57:00

The graphics are outstanding!

Shifted by Scipio Xaos 2014-08-27T17:48:00

The puzzles were pretty good but I didn't like the tile based movement.

LD31 — Entire Game on One Screen

TeazleParty by Ace 2014-12-09T20:51:00

I've never seen so much game on a single screen. Well done!

Back Home by Vandash 2014-12-09T18:53:00

Spectacular visuals, good Job!

Shvoel by dvdking 2014-12-09T18:19:00

The music is a little bit to intense for me. I couldn't really enjoy the game like that.

SumoBall! by flyingbear 2014-12-11T19:52:00

That was a lot of fun and for a compo entry it had s really polished look and feel. Well done.
However I would like the game to progress quicker. A steeper difficulty curve would help with that.

Entire Screen of One Game by Tom 7 2014-12-10T21:35:00

Brilliant idea! Good job.

Hyper Soccer by klianc09 2014-12-09T21:10:00

Hey there fellow LibGdx disciple :)

It's rare to see a sports game, so that's a plus. However I didn't really get it, I'm not even sure which side I should be attacking. Maybe it's because I didn't bother to read the onscreen text.
I admit, this isn't a reasonable complain, but I'm sure you value honest feedback, right?

Happy Snowball by gmaker 2014-12-09T19:22:00

Lovely pixel art and sounds, it is a very cute game. I love helping santa, but this Ludum Dare the snowman is really everywhere. Can't blame you for that though.

#CorporateCrimewave by DrHahn 2014-12-11T20:49:00

Hey wait a minute, this is not a puzzle game, this is a stealth game! The visuals really threw me off here, but that's is not a bad thing.

The Ace of Gases by spike_xp 2014-12-10T18:44:00

I did not understand what I was supposed to do. The Menu that opened had only empty entries.

Snowman Lander 2014 by rincewind_cz 2014-12-14T15:13:00

Nice to see another LibGdx entry, more code to look at :)

The controls are a little bit weird. While W fires the bottom thruster and S the top thruster (opposite directions), A fires left and D fires right (same directions). It's still fun to play, good job!

Mini Minotaur by ljdp 2014-12-09T18:38:00

Really interesting concept, I like it alot. The graphics are nice and clean.
But I wish I could restart the game, without reloading the page.

Venus: The last defenders by mnill 2014-12-10T18:40:00

It difficult playing with yourself but it's an interesting idea.

Sunshine Apartments by Alan Masimba Walker 2014-12-09T21:13:00

I'm having trouble downloading your game. Maybe you could add a mirror? I would really like to play it since the screenshot looks super cute, but using mediafire I failed downloading it three times now.

Sunshine Apartments by Alan Masimba Walker 2014-12-10T00:35:00

@Macecraft
Thank you for the mirror, I was able to download and play :)

It really is a super cute looking game, but without the readme I was completely lost. Even after I read the readme I was still unable to satisfy my tenants as the merchants were either to infrequent or simply provided the wrong kind of goods. It ended with a crash :(

Screen Bacteria by Nitrodeus 2014-12-09T21:06:00

I will be honest, I was too lazy to install Pygame to play, sorry.

Spokey - Hockey in Space by PlonkyDonkey 2014-12-09T18:26:00

I wish the game had a single player mode. I unfortunately had no one to play with, so I don't feel like I saw the full potential of the game.

Crow Attack by DvigubaiPiktas 2014-12-10T20:17:00

The crows are to small. You need super sized crows! ;)
But I really didn't want to stop playing, as it was a lot of fun. I like the upgrade system.

Entomophobia by DoubleS 2014-12-11T20:03:00

I really like the gameboy feel and the quick pace of the game. I would prefer the game to be a little bit harder though.

Super Meat Ball by sheigeno 2014-12-09T00:44:00

I like the art style and the music really drives you on.

However the ball got stuck in a perfect vertical motion in the half of the opponent, so i couldn't reach it and the NPC only moves up and down so he wouldn't reach it either. I think I would like it better if the NPC would move forward and back, too. This would make things more interesting and easier to score, too (I didn't make a single point :/)
The select screen is a bit confusing at the beginning.
Still a good entry, well done.

Fireguy by joppiesaus 2014-12-09T18:23:00

It is a shame I can't blow up my enemies. I also would like to drop more than one bomb.

Wide Opened Eyes by nzgiije 2014-12-10T23:09:00

Ob boy the audio really makes the atmosphere work, good job! I also like the pixel art. Overall a good game.

Smash the Game by hollowspecter 2014-12-10T20:11:00

I would like to see a single player mode, as I don't have a partner to play with.

Trapped by Smiley 2014-12-09T21:23:00

Hey, my entry is almost identical to your game:
- We both use LibGdx
- We both generate random room layouts
- We both use box2d(lights) heavily

Though my game lacks shooting so you obviously win :)

King of the Cave by AnaglyphCoding 2014-12-10T23:11:00

The music is great!
But I couldn't figure out how to beat the boss :(

A Link Between Screens by trykondev 2014-12-11T20:40:00

I agree with others stating that the intro could have been quicker, but I like the terrain drag and drop mechanic.

Daddy Ghoul by Maxom 2014-12-09T00:49:00

The Graphics are solid, but audio would have added alot to the mood.
I didn't understand what I was supposed to do. I thought I had to evade the ghosts as they were killing me. I read your description now, I wish I had known this before.

Man on the Field by Double Zero One Zero 2014-12-11T19:45:00

Great visuals, great concept, great entry!
The music is great too, but doesn't really fit the theme of the game.

Midnight Delivery by CamillaHorne 2014-12-11T20:07:00

It's not a new concept but it's well executed and I like how you use the snow to make the game fit on one screen.

Avoid the Pushers by hwinwuzhere 2014-12-09T19:04:00

Too bad the game isn't finished, the generated levels could be fun.

Ludum Fortress by EthanWebster 2014-12-09T17:57:00

The game was fun. But the flashing screen effect is overused. At first I thought I was taking damage.
Also I encountered a bug: An Enemy walked into (he was literally inside of me) so I could no longer shot him.

Concealed by akhilnivarthi 2014-12-10T22:33:00

I enjoyed this game. The clean art style fits the gameplay. I can't find anything to complain´about, other than the lack of sound. This is a jam entry so you could have used pre made stuff.

Broken by SetArray 2014-12-09T19:16:00

Rare to see a Ludum Dare game with so many settings.
You really took the theme to heart :)

Round II I by Gaga 2014-12-09T00:20:00

I like the physics and art style.
But I didn't hear any sounds which is a shame because that would have added a lot.

Roomnesia by Headmade 2014-12-08T22:12:00

Hi Biliogadafr,
thanks for your feedback. You probably encountered a gamebreaking bug, that's why you couldn't finish the game. I'm currently patching them up and I will upload a new Version tonight.

Roomnesia by Headmade 2014-12-08T23:24:00

I released the bug fixed version. I hope I've squished all those pesky bugs.

Btw the "spiders" are supposed to be wooden logs :D

Infinite Alien Escape by Tony-C 2014-12-09T21:30:00

The jumping is a bit too flouty for my taste.

MRBOX by karlipoppins 2014-12-09T19:45:00

The gameplay is really fun and I like that the game is complete.

I've found a bug though: When you die you can keep standing on the ground and as long as you don't move the blades don't kill you.

TheCubeDude by Thundercake Games 2014-12-10T18:48:00

It's hard to see which way the cube is spinning since there is no rotation animation.

7 Days of War by error031 2014-12-09T00:27:00

The music is very melancholic, which seems fitting.
Does the war ever end? Or is the only possible outcome your death?

Christmas Robber by DavidLv 2014-12-09T18:16:00

You really wanted the snowman to win the theme, didn't you? ;)

Unfortunately it seems like I encountered a bug. I was not able to change the unit type in the middle and bottom slot.

The art is nice, but the character types look to similar for my taste.

GTAlien by Pulsartronic 2014-12-09T00:14:00

Very nice concept art and physics and I like how you stayed true to the theme.
However the police's constant whistling is a bit annoying.

Karusa by Princesseuh 2014-12-09T19:30:00

The graphics are very simple but still convey a nice moody feeling.

Carnage by Bygmalion 2014-12-09T17:50:00

Super Crate Box is very strong in this one.

Kenny's Adventures by revolter 2014-12-11T19:57:00

I was either to stupid or I found a spot where I could no longer progress. But overall a good physics platformer.

The Story of Cheap Ranger by DavidVisscher 2014-12-09T21:03:00

That Pixel artwork is really great, I especially love the font.
However it feels a lot like Super Crate Box, it may be a coincidence but it has so many elements in common that it almost seems unlikely.
Still fun to play.

Blockade Runner by Kopeph Developers 2014-12-09T20:45:00

I like how colorful the game is.
Unfortunately the room creaton is a little bit bugged. It generated a map where the player and the goal were not connected at all. Also it is rather hard to see where you are and where you have to go becuase there is so much going on on the srceen.
Still a very nice entry, well done.

Dark Vaimanika by d3garcia 2014-12-09T18:47:00

I don't like the installer one bit :(
But the game was polished. Hard, but polished.

Snowman's Land: SNOVERCHILL by RHY3756547 2014-12-09T00:34:00

This song is so uplifting, I love it! Super fun.
The visuals are impressive too, especially for a compo entry. Great Entry!

Orion by feiss 2014-12-10T19:02:00

Stunning visual and sound design. Incredible!

LD32 — An Unconventional Weapon

Glyph Valley by recursor 2015-04-21T20:32:00

Could you please provide a downloadable version for windows? I really don't want to install the unity plugin.

Dino Bros by josefnpat 2015-04-22T20:15:00

Very good voice acting and animations. Good job.

Vacuum Hero by Evgiz 2015-04-20T20:24:00

Very nice game! Nice graphics, nice gameplay, nice sounds, everything is really polished. Well done.

My only gripe is that while the weapon is unconventional, the enemies are not. I would have like something more creative than a slime.

I did not finish the game as I just couldn't beat the room where the guns are introduced. Either I'm too stupid or you have a bit of a difficulty spike there. Maybe introduce the guns, without throwing infinitely respawning enemies at the player?
Still a great game though!

Home by Sakuyan 2015-04-22T22:52:00

Very nice looking game and it was short and sweet. My only complaint is the walking speed. I wish it was considerably faster. Other than that, good job :)

Ninja With A Teddy Bear by agmcleod 2015-04-20T19:54:00

Sorry to hear about your loss.
I'm sure your dad would be proud.

Yum Kaax Relic by VividReality 2015-04-21T21:17:00

Very fun game! I played it through and that really means something :)
This bloody monkey though...

Mortal Coil by CogComp 2015-04-21T20:47:00

Downloadable Version would be nice.

Hugline Miami by Figglewatts 2015-04-20T22:48:00

Very impressive, especially given the 48 hours time frame.
You really nailed the hotline miami vibe.

It would be perfect if the collision detection would work better (especially for the hugs).

Star Driller Ultra by Omiya Games 2015-04-22T20:28:00

Interesting concept. I played it basically as a one button game (using only space and an occasional target change). It worked well that way. I don't know why i didn't like moving with WASD.
I really would have preferred if after destroying a target the closest one would be picked next but that is a minor gripe with an otherwise exquisite entry. Very impressive what you managed to accomplish in such a short time frame.

(mental)fairy by 0x0961h 2015-04-20T20:08:00

Good job! I like the voxely look and it's always nice to see a fellow LibGdx dev.

However I would have liked a little bit more of a challenge, as it indeed is rather easy to win if you just stand still and keep shooting.
Maybe fewer enemies that move quicker but take less damage would do the trick?

War of Ideas by jackyjjc 2015-04-21T20:18:00

Interesting concept.
However I was unable to sustain influence for long. Even when I still have Resistance 100/100 in an area my influence still seems to be decreasing. Might be a bug?

Just another sketch on the wall by RevelBase 2015-04-22T22:46:00

The idea is super cool and incredibly well implemented. The visuals are stunning!
But I somehow got stuck. The smiley was the only object left and there was this monster in the way. I couldn't interact with the brush and the mirror got lost in a previous section. Don't know if I overlooked something or if it was a bug.

Carrot Bender by Lukbebalduke 2015-04-21T20:56:00

Chrome refuses the file for me aswell.

Natural Weapon by Manou 2015-04-22T20:32:00

Too bad it was so short, it looked very promising. Really nice painterly art style and soothing music.

Badass Inc by deepnight 2015-04-20T19:40:00

Holy Moses this really is an impressive compo entry. Really inspiring.

You're asking us to point out any English mistakes, so let me point out that in the first Textbubble there is a typo (should be his)
"What was is name again?"

Lets go Bananas in outer space by Smiley 2015-04-20T20:36:00

Good job! Also it's nice to see another LibGdx Game :)

Is there an end to the game? It seemed to just go on forever.

The TV Remote by Leandrus 2015-04-21T20:38:00

Very interesting idea and well implemented too.
However it seems to be impossible to predict if it's safe to switch the channel or not. I think there should be a way of knowing otherwise it's very frustrating to explore the world especially since you have limited health.

Guardian Shield by longshorts 2015-04-20T21:52:00

I really like the graphics, especially the UI. Nice and clean.
And it's great to see another LibGdx game. More code to look at and learn from :)

I wish the boost had a sound and graphical effect as it is barely noticeable. I would like it to be more powerful to because as is it has little gameplay value. Still a nice game.

Nature's Assault by Ptolo 2015-04-21T21:09:00

This really seems like an interesting entry but unfortunately I couldn't figure out how to grow my population. Once winter came my settlements died off :(

Ludum Dare #-6192 by pi_pi3 2015-04-20T22:23:00

I couldn't move and didn't get how to use the phone :(

SpaceSharp by jsmars 2015-04-21T21:00:00

This game is wonderful. I constantly mistype so it was super hard for me but it's good practice for me. And I even made it into the top 10 or something :D
I couldn't figure out any secret inputs, could you share some? I'm super curious!

Abyssinum by kaa 2015-04-21T21:16:00

A downloadable version would be nice.

5 inches true damage by Sogomn 2015-04-20T20:51:00

That certainly is an unconventional weapon :)

I share the sentiment that you should put your code on github (or similar) as it makes it easier to take a look at it.
To me it looks well structured and super clean (very much unlike mine). So good job!

Darkness Consumes by mokesmoe 2015-04-20T22:01:00

Very nice lighting effects. Together with the sounds it makes the game surprisingly atmospheric.

I would have like more hints where to go, as I repeatedly wandered off into the darkness and got lost. Enemies would have been nice too.
Still a good entry given the time constraints.

Canker Blossom by Headmade 2015-04-20T18:24:00

good_will_flouting.jar
is what you are looking for. I just checked, it's there. It's probably confusing that the jar has a different name then the game, so I will change that if I can.

Canker Blossom by Headmade 2015-04-20T18:29:00

Ok I'm stupid. It was there for me, because I was logged in. No it's really there. I renamed the jar "Canker_Blossom.jar"

Mag Gunner by Phil Strahl 2015-04-21T20:29:00

Thy game is very nice :)
Super slick intro screen nice clean graphics, fitting music and a clever concept. Well done.

My only gripe is that the collision detection is a bit wonky. Blocks clip through walls and collide weirdly. Maybe implementing a proper physics engine would help in that regard?

Not Nice Knight by Nebulaic Toaster 2015-04-20T22:19:00

Haha so you made an insult simulator? Mee too :D
Your writing is alot better though, so good job.

Angry Beavers by PixelStuff 2015-04-21T19:49:00

I download the windows file and when I run it, it says something like "There should be 'angrybeavers_Data'

No such thing came with the download, so I can't run it.

In Your Arms by Ryumaru 2015-04-21T21:18:00

A downloadable version would be nice.

MagDef by jhell 2015-04-20T20:04:00

Overall a nice entry. I wish the progression would be a little quicker.
And did you use http://www.abundant-music.com/? The music sounds oddly familiar :)

Rabbit Escape by Tim C 2015-04-21T21:32:00

Nice art style and gameplay idea.
I would have liked to distract the guards with the carrot. I would sacrifice my tool but could get past tough spots.

A conventional marriage by Kushulain 2015-04-21T21:24:00

I played the web version and I was unable to hit space to inspect chests (it would scroll the page instead). Clicking the icon didn't do anything.
So I had three guns but nothing to shoot :(

Pillows in Space by Daporan 2015-04-20T22:11:00

Man I can't compete with Lukbebalduke. I only got about half as many points :(
But I had fun and it's always nice to find a fellow LibGdx dev.

Ants by cgmorton 2015-04-21T20:44:00

Interesting game but at first I didn't know what to do. I had to read the description here to get it. Then I didn't know which sandwich was mine. So basically I'm stupid :)

Indifference by Pibeex 2015-04-20T22:28:00

Wow for 3 hours this is rather well made. Stylish intro and graphics, nice animations and even the sound is decent. Well done.

LD33 — You are the Monster

B(L)OB by Nikteddy92 2015-09-01T08:29:00

Impressive result for the few hours you put into it. Really like the audio.

Nombeast Jr. by Joror 2015-08-25T15:36:00

Runs fine for me in chrome. I liked the visuals and the music was pleasant.
However I had touble nomming people up since I couldn't reach their level. Either I was to heigh or to low.

Sticky-me by Fonserbc 2015-08-26T19:44:00

Hurrah for stickyness! I like the concept and it's well executed, though very short.
My main complaint would be the controls though. I'm not sure what the optimal controls would be but I'm sure it could be improved. Maybe dragging the controllable elements with the mouse would work well.

Goomba Simulator 2015 by LandoSystems 2015-08-25T19:15:00

It's always nice to see a fellow Libgdx dev :)

I really like the story and humor. Never thought about where marios come from.

Necromorph by Supernaught 2015-09-06T09:02:00

We have a winner right here. Very innovative and fun to play, great looking, nails the theme and even has a great name.
The only thing missing is music. Odd to leave it out considering this is a jam entry.

Monster of the Deep by noom 2015-08-25T15:21:00

Nice little game. I would have liked more swimmers, boats and mines though. I was alone on the screen for most of the time.
Also sound would improve the game considerably.

Where am I ? by Manou 2015-08-24T22:42:00

Very nice visuals and atmosphere. The voices were well done, very sinister. Also liked the plot twist at the end. Should have been obvious given the theme but it still surprised me.

It was however very irritating that I couldn't strafe. Strafing is so common in 1st person games that I tried to strafe all the time even tough it was obvious that it isn't possible.

Since you are asking about those rain, thunder and footstep sounds. Using them is definitely against the rules. Everything has to be made by you. So if you ask yourself whether you are allowed to use an asset in your game or not, the question you should be asking is "Did I make that asset?".
No one is going to police it but you really are giving yourself an unfair advantage by using these. It's ok to use assets made by others in the jam but not in the compo.

I hope I don't sound to harsh, I really think your entry is fine and since you were open about using those sound effects I don't see any malicious intent. I just tried to inform you about the rules :)

underworld siege by Benjamin 2015-08-25T16:34:00

Wow, this one is really good! I want to play some more which is very rare with Ludum dare games.
It's rather hard though and I only played on easy.

Spoody by Kerdelos 2015-08-26T10:23:00

Looks like a cool mechanic but I fell through the floor and everything became super laggy (Web version). I will try the windows build later.

Spoody by Kerdelos 2015-08-26T21:24:00

I tried again this time on desktop, still super laggy to the point of being unplayable :(

Monster Hotel by NikinCZ 2015-08-26T09:11:00

At first I wanted to comment about the long waiting times, but since others have written about it already let me pick up something else.
I had trouble finding and reading how much money I had. Increasing the contrast between the text and the background would help.

Mornings of a Seventeen Year-Old Girl by Mike Mezhenin 2015-08-25T16:43:00

Really nice looking and polished entry. Well done.

What's the connection to the theme though?

Mr. Yeti's Fast Food by Balzaque 2015-08-25T18:37:00

Fantastic game. The art is cute and quirky, the controls are snappy, the animations are lively, the sound is great, though the music is a bit dull. But still great job overall.

The Monster Agenda by burquitlambadgers 2015-08-26T10:08:00

What's not to like about exploding poop?

You Are The Monster by awesomerex 2015-09-04T10:45:00

Sadly there is very little variety so smashing the buildings becomes boring very quickly. Maybe I missed something?

Don't Steal My Treasure! by dan.marchand 2015-08-26T09:28:00

I didn't get that I can fight the enemies directly. I was evading them, trying to place traps but couldn't so I was a little frustrated at first. I accidentally bumped into an enemy and finally got it. It was a lot more fun from there.
It feels like the game could well be expanded upon. I would like to be able to block certain paths to better utilise my traps for example. Lots of potential here.
Good job!

Executioner by TheZiggy 2015-08-30T00:27:00

That's a heavy hitting game. You really succeeded at making me feel like a monster, so you really nailed the theme. But unfortunately that makes the game no fun for me. I don't enjoy being the monster :(

You could have pushed the game further though. After making me decide you should present me the consequences of my decision. Tell me how many orphans I produced, how much money the imprisonment costs and so on. This would make my decisions feel a lot more relevant.

A Heart between Parts by LeafThief 2015-08-26T22:46:00

Such wonderful art, especially like the color palette.
Everything is just lovely.

Super minor complaint is that the characters mouth is moving even when here mouth is sewn shut.

Grave by uheartbeast 2015-09-01T09:34:00

Really impressive entry. Nice visuals and gameplay. Seems very polished.

The Holly Matter by azakhary 2015-08-25T20:06:00

Ah it super cool to see you in Ludum Dare. I'm really looking forward to take a peek at your source code. I'm sure I can learn a few tricks from the maker of Overlap2d.

On my first try one of the fanatics got stuck in the middle of the path. There was nothing in the way or anything everyone else passed him, but this guy was just jittering to an fro. So I couldn't finish the level.
So I restarted the game and I played to level 3 where the same thing happened. I already reached the goal so the towers were no longer firing. So again I couldn't finish the level because one guy was stuck.

But still I liked the game. It is quite polished and the art style is very nice (I especially like the intro screen). The music is a bit annoying with the "gospel" but it fits the game well. As the others have noted more depth wouldn't have hurt.
Good job overall.

1-800-Monsters by ponywolf 2015-08-27T21:02:00

The art style is very cute and some of the puzzles are good.

Why does the game send me to the first level again? This is super disappointing. Just quit the game, show some text, anything!
Still a very good entry.

Unfinished Super Nothing Game! by gltovar 2015-08-26T09:37:00

I was able to play it and it ran smoothly (using chrome).
However I have no idea what I was supposed to do. I guess you weren't joking when you wrote it's super unfinished.

Monster Disco by Four Quarters 2015-08-26T20:17:00

Yummy, those pixels be delicious.

Sticky Pudding by Headmade 2015-08-25T20:21:00

Thanks for the comments guys. Especially you Shina69. I want to hear what you didn't like about it. Honestly guys, I'm looking for critique and honest feedback.

Sticky Pudding by Headmade 2015-08-26T16:07:00

@BlackQuiltro
Thanks for your feedback, very much appreciated.

You're making a good point about the lack of a clear goal. There is a goal/end to the game so I absolutely agree that I should make that clear to the player.
Btw there are six obstacles in total, so you were very close to the end :)

Sticky Pudding by Headmade 2015-08-26T22:53:00

@SoulGame
Thanks for your super detailed feedback.

To answer your question: Yes I did compose it (obviously as this is a compo entry). It's my first ever music piece and I hate it. I'm surprised you don't ;)

And I made the jump deliberately more powerful. At first it only boosted you forward in the same angle you were pointing. I added the extra umph upwards to make the "OMG I almost crashed" moments more likely. Reading the comments the game seems plenty difficult even with the powerful jump.

DRUMSTER by SoulGame 2015-08-26T18:39:00

The WebGL build threw an error and refused to work (Chrome).
The windows build ran fine.

Really nice Art and music but I don't see the connection to the theme.
Other than that it was a fun rhythm game though it became to difficult for me rather quickly. The key bindings don't seem to be optimal.

DRUMSTER by SoulGame 2015-08-26T22:26:00

@SoulGame
Thanks a ton for your super detailed feedback on my game.

And also thanks for posting the youtube link. That third song. It's killer!
I played your game again to get to the song myself but just could not get past the second stage. I'm simply to clumsy. So I've listened to it on youtube a couple more times :) It's really great, a shame it's hidden behind a barrier some just will not get past.

That said it would be great if there was a noob mode, where you would progress even though you did not master a section (maybe after 3-5 failed attempts?).

The connection to the theme became apparent, too. I guess I should have read the description, then I would have got it right the first time around.

I did correct my ratings quite a bit, though I don't feel comfortable making my ratings public as you did. I think it's fairer if it's hidden as it might influence others. "What? He gave how many stars in innovation? Scandalous! Let me correct that." Something like this may or may not happen, I just prefer not to risk it.

And to answer your question on my game. Yes I did compose the music myself. Actually it's the first time I composed anything. Personally I hate that piece I made, so it really surprised me that you didn't :)

R-ADIUS by MrTwister 2015-09-02T12:21:00

Argh that ship is just to agile! It was a lot of fun to hunt the ship but it's just a little bit too hard to hit. A shorter cooldown would have helped.
Maybe instead of the cooldown you could have implented higher cost for shots in rapid succession? That way I wouldn't be able to spam either but had the freedom to plan my attacks better. Would have given the game more depth.

Also I would have liked to fire my weapons with the keyboard (maybe using the keys 1, 2, 3).

Still a good entry, well done!

Nimble by Lynx 2015-08-30T00:13:00

Outstanding visuals! It's a joy to look at.
Though I wish there was more to the game than just quicktime events. It's well made but lacks depth. But maybe that's too much to ask from a Ludum Dare game.

The Monster Way by Nomys_Tempar 2015-08-26T09:57:00

Really nice art. It's not super fancy but I really like the perspective and the style in general.
The writing was excellent and it was overall a fun read. I wonder how many endings and branches there are.

Room Chaos Monster by Demy 2015-09-03T22:02:00

Haha I know that monster too well!

Tentacle Smash by BoxedMeatRevolution 2015-08-25T19:23:00

The game ran well for me and I liked it. The music was very eerie.

But can the game be won? At the end I got the message "You lost", so can I actually win the game?

Bloodworm by Jonathan Whiting 2015-09-06T19:21:00

Wow, really brilliant mechanic!

A-maze-ing Monster! by BlackQuiltro 2015-08-27T00:21:00

The the base idea is interesting and it's well implemented. I had fun playing it but since the map doesn't change there is no motivation to play it some more. With random (or multiple) maps you could easily double the fun :)

I didn't get the warrior skill. It leaves a fire behind but it's not casting any light, so what use is it?

The audio loop seemed very short (or just repetitive, not sure). But it was pleasant enough and didn't annoy me. I actually liked the stereo effects.

Also I think it's cool that you involved your family. Pretty good entry for the first time.

Btw thanks for your detailed feedback on my game :)

I am Death and Fire by derr 2015-08-26T21:04:00

Oh my that is the best looking game I've played this Ludum Dare. This would even be gorgeous held next to a commercial game.
Everything else isn't not to shabby either. It controls well, sounds good and is fun for a short while.

My biggest complaint is the lack in variety and challenge.

Hunter by dwoodbur 2015-08-25T16:38:00

You are the monster! How could you make this game and like that :(

Kidnapped by Zsombor 2015-08-25T20:45:00

This was super creepy but where is the connection to the theme?
I didn't manage to get any further then chapter 2. I lived but there was no option for chapter 3. What did I miss?

Clicker Monster by ThomeTheMagician 2015-08-25T15:22:00

I agree with the comments above. You shouldn't be using those assets in the compo.

BLACKFESK by LeClaw 2015-08-25T19:49:00

Oh my the music blew me out of the water! The best song I've heard this Ludum dare.
The graphics were awesome as well and the game was fun overall.
However I had trouble with the controls. Using an Xbox controller the movement of the tentacles seemed inverted. and flapped around but didn't have the feeling of really knowing what I was doing.
There also seemed to be no goal, so I lost motivation to continue. Dying turned out to be a challenge as the game seems to be a bit to easy.

But these are all minor points really I really think BLACKFESK is a great game. Good job!

Monstre de Coiffure by Patacorow 2015-08-31T19:48:00

Everything about this games is just wonderful.

LD34 — Two Button Controls / Growing

Double Kick Heroes by blackmagic 2015-12-19T21:39:00

Great music, nice art and overall a fun game. But it would have been nice if my hits/misses would affect the music.

Oh My Beard! by StaNov 2015-12-15T22:20:00

The introduction was very humorous but the constant screaming ingame was very annoying.

UPSQUID by 01010111 2015-12-15T17:39:00

Great entry, simple yet challenging and fun to play. The color palette and name are very Downwellish, which doesn't hurt. Good job!

Beardgrow by esayitch 2015-12-15T22:53:00

Fun little game. I actually like the controls even though they are a little bit awkward. My main complaint is that the bully movement is too random, so it's hard to predict. And it's very hard to evade the bullies at the bottom.
Also it was a bit too hard. I wasn't able to woo Dora. But who wants to date that Dora character anyway? She doesn't even have a beard!

Vectrex 2: Neon Boogaloo by ChainedLupine 2015-12-18T11:22:00

Neat demo. Better luck next time with your game.

Growy the Flowy by Optimus6128 2015-12-15T23:01:00

Nice game. My favorite part is the vine growing animation. Looks really nice.
I think the game could be greatly improved by one simple addition: a score. I can't see how far I've come. I can't compare my runs and I can't progress or compete so there is very little reason to play more often.

Mystic Temple by Tipyx 2015-12-15T16:38:00

Oh boy this one is hard. Every time I try to evade one plant I bump int another. The music could be a little bit upbeat/hectic to support the gameplay more. I'm running for my life afterall.
But the graphics and animations are nice.

Longbeard by Joe Williamson 2015-12-15T10:23:00

Impressive entry again.

Let's Play Simulator 2016 by zulman 2015-12-15T22:06:00

Nice and innovative interpretation of the theme. However it seems too long and unrewarding for me. Either you get which game and is presented to you or you don't. There is no reveal when you guess wrong so you there is no aha effect. I reached 100,000 subs and quit because the game became tedious.
But I still like the idea and execution. Very nice art!

Wellspring Wanderer by Justin Mullin 2015-12-17T00:37:00

Wow, impressive entry. The soothing music really fits well the smooth graphics and the gameplay is well done. It's also nice to see another LibGdx entry. Will have a look at your code later.

Wellspring Wanderer by Justin Mullin 2015-12-17T00:39:00

Oh I found a bug. When I change the window size things get weird. Grass is no longer on the planet surface and floats in space the position of the ship changes and all kinds of funny things.

Floppy Frog by walaber 2015-12-19T21:53:00

Sooo hard, yet sooo fun. Very Qwopesque but still distinct enough to stand on its own. Well done.

AirC.A.T by TsFreddie 2015-12-17T00:21:00

Nice music!

Man Simulator by Drtizzle 2015-12-15T22:35:00

As others have already said: This game is disgusting. I love it.

sprout by lonewookie 2015-12-15T16:21:00

The arrow keys do not work for me either when I play the embedded version. But still a fun little game. And it's nice to see another LibGdx game.

Grow a Tree Roguelike by hd_ 2015-12-15T23:25:00

Very interesting concept but I just couldn't get started. Always ran out of energy :(
It was completely unclear to me which tile does what.

Hero of the nest by Alexander Shukalo 2015-12-15T16:29:00

I saved 4 but honestly this silly bird should just go extinct. Building such a nest is madness!
Nice little game though. The graphics a coherent the music fits the silliness nicely. Good job.

Garden Grow by justinooncx 2015-12-19T21:11:00

Fun little game. Nice music and gameplay.
I only have one complaint. I don't like that I have to click left/right screen half, I would have much preferred left/right click.

Reach by huminaboz 2015-12-18T10:55:00

I had trouble figuring out how the game works but after reading your instructions (and tips) in your post I eventually got it. A better explanation or preferably input feedback in game would have helped a lot. For example you could shape the player object like an arrow and point it down when space is pressed and up when space is released.

Captain Ninjabeard by GhostBomb 2015-12-15T20:59:00

This game is great fun! The graphics are nice and everything works well together. Nice audio, too. Good job.

Minor nitpicks:
I would prefer if the game would capture the mouse as I accidentally clicked a couple of times on my second monitor.
Also I would prefer if there was a small zone on the edges of the screen I could not fly to. It would make it easier to turn around using left click.

Barber Chop by AngrySquirrels 2015-12-15T16:16:00

Well made and quite humorous.

[JJJ] - Jolly Jail Jumper by AwesomeAlliterationAlliance 2015-12-15T22:28:00

Wow those cut scenes and animations are really impressive for a Ludud Dare game. I also lied the tutorial.
But the game was too hard for me. Also I didn't like that the orange dude didn't fight the blue dudes when they met (I guess it's guard and inmate?), even though they both attacked me when I was opposite colors.
Still a very good entry.

Button Simulator 2000 by wilsk 2015-12-15T21:23:00

Very confusing game. It was still fun trying to figure out what does what but at the end I wasn't able to fully grow anything. After a time the systems stopped working and I don't understand why :(

I still like the game, I just didn't get it. A short tutorial would be nice.

Egggs by simon.parzer 2015-12-18T11:12:00

What would come out of the egg next, what is there to discover when I grow on? The curiosity kept me playing and I went full circle. Very nicely done, though I would have preferred an end.

Speed by Niphram 2015-12-15T20:23:00

Nice little game especially considering the tight time limit.
I agree with everything pkenney said, that is some quality feedback I have nothing to add to. I would like to emphasize his point of lacking objective though. I didn't know what the goal was either.

Keyboard Prince by LavaGhost 2015-12-15T23:12:00

I like the concept (even though I don't think it fits the theme well) but I encountered several bugs:
- I was able to walk through the back wall.
- Sound where sometime playing randomly and choppy
- The screen went just black at one point and I play on

Still a good entry, certainly has potential.

Lumberjack vs. Ancient Druid's Cybertree by anv 2015-12-15T23:17:00

Very nice graphics. However it was very hard to hit the saplings and the gameplay was overall a little to chaotic for my taste.

Sentient Sewage by blakeohare 2015-12-15T16:57:00

Great water effects and a novel idea. I love the writing, it's hilarious.
My only complaint is the difficulty spike from medium to hard. While I had no problems on medium I failed at hard :(

Knitted Fighter by Usanio 2015-12-15T22:41:00

Lovely art style but unfortunately I either didn't get the game or it was bugged. I wasn't able to leave my thread anywhere, also I was able to move more often than 3 times (there seemed to be no limit), the timer stopped at 1 and nothing really happend.
A shame really as it seemed very promising.

Belly Smash by Drunkain 2015-12-15T23:40:00

Very funny and excellent presentation. Very stylish and coherent. Everything fits well together. Well done.

Tiny Tyrant by tyrants.not.found.team 2015-12-15T10:37:00

Very funny and great art. I love that the laws I pass take effect immediately and change the city this drastically.

Shaving Day : The Shave After Tomorrow by gloim 2015-12-15T23:34:00

Why would you shave off this majestic beard?

Rocketship Rescue by Rose 2015-12-18T11:27:00

Cute game, I really like the portraits. But why is there so much friction in space? Also doesn't my ship get very crowded over time? Very important questions!

LD35 — Shapeshift

windowframe by managore 2016-04-19T19:55:00

Just incredible, very inspiring.
My only complaint is that it is very easy to miss a click and accidentally close your window.

Zen and the Art of Transhumanism by Deconstructeam 2016-04-22T22:34:00

Excellent game. Very original and polished, great audio, visuals and concept.

The are only small things I would like to note:
Installing modules can't be selected with controller and when hitting buttons it very often triggers the button twice (this is not as bad using keyboard). The end button between change tool and reset is poorly placed. It should be switched with the audio button, so you don't press it accidentally. This happened a ton when I was playing with controller (less so with keyboard).

PERMUTATE by TravisChen 2016-04-19T07:39:00

The mechanic is brilliant, I wonder of I could master the movement so I could actually control where I'm going, instead of me button mashing. Very pleasing aesthetics and sound scape. Great entry!

Geometry Garden by Evgiz 2016-04-18T19:36:00

Top notch presentation, high scores in all departments, good job!
However I would like an indicator when my bullets are about to change. Just play the "triangle" sound effect sooner.

My high score was 1024 :)

Shapeshifter Biker by Reuno 2016-04-19T07:05:00

Beautiful game, very nice choice of colors great effects, models and animations.

I wish the music would not reset upon death, since I die often I never get to hear the full song.

Shift 'n Drift by LandoSystems 2016-04-19T17:31:00

Very polished and fleshed out entry, exceptional for a LD game. Good puzzles, interesting mechanics and a good amount of content.
It's nice to see another LibGdx game and a good one too. I will have a look at the code later.

Soulbound by OysterKLAN 2016-04-18T22:07:00

Very nice graphics! I love the subtle effects when shapeshifting. Great animations, too.

Sound would have added so much to the game, it's a shame it's missing, especially considering this is a jam game and you could have just used stock stuff.

ShapeShift for Cheese by Adipson 2016-04-19T00:13:00

Very impressive animations for a jam entry. Well done.

I would like to be able to skip the texts especially when I read the before.

Bortman by Rscar 2016-04-18T21:14:00

Nice game but I don't understand the level progression. I was at the boss, died and then I was back at level 1? Was that a bug?

IT Ninja by Brian Mayberry 2016-04-19T00:43:00

Good mechanics and very slick graphical effects and even though the characters are only pills they are well animated. Hard to believe this is a compo entry!

Sound would make a huge difference though!

Shape Assault by thomz12 2016-04-19T10:42:00

This is a very competently crafted entry, it checks all the boxes and seems very polished. I like the clean look and the screen shake is indeed very shaky. Well done.

My main complaint would be that the enemies take too much damage, this makes the projectiles seems weak and unsatisfying. And the music was too repetitive.

Battle of Britain 2 by SuperChihuahua 2016-04-19T00:47:00

The controls are a bit weird but I figured it out, so it's not so bad.
I like the concept and the planes are well animated and modeled. I don't see the connection to the theme though.

Random Rally Rodeo by Lee1121 2016-04-18T20:29:00

Fun racer! I like the sound effects, they fit the vehicles very well.

Opponents would be nice or something else to increase the challenge.

Wizard Fight by LeftRight92 2016-04-19T07:16:00

Interesting game but I lack the partner to play it the way it's intended.

It seems there is no winning condition? One side had no minions left and could not spawn new ones and the game still went on.

Shift & Persist by hazzahazzam 2016-04-19T07:51:00

Haha, nice 4th wall breaking jokes in there :)

For me the jumping and dashing didn't work reliably. Sometime the sheep just would not jump or dash. Don't know if that's a bug or if I did something wrong.

Cutting Hedge by Headmade 2016-04-18T00:24:00

Thanks for the feedback! There is always the option of cutting the excess into shreds :) I was experimenting with the excess falling through but it had to many downsides.

Cutting Hedge by Headmade 2016-04-19T19:40:00

Hi M.Raven,

I can't find a way to contact you so I will post it here.

I tried it on a Mac and it worked so there should not be a general problem.
To find out what the problem on your machine is you could try starting the game like so:

Open Terminal and enter:
cd /your/path/to/jar
java -jar Cutting-Hedge_headmadegames.jar > cutting-hedge.log

Then send upload the log somewhere and send me a link (@HeadmadeGames) to it and I will have a look.

Lovely Shape by plauk 2016-04-19T07:42:00

The text is rather hard to read, more contrast would be great.

Werewolves in Shibsington by Nanolotl 2016-04-18T20:21:00

Nice idea! Do you know about the "The Werewolves of Miller's Hollow"? https://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/25821/werewolves-millers-hollow
It's like the cardboard version of your game :)

I would have preferred a faster pace though. The text scrolled to slowly the day and night was too long. I solved it after the first night, but I would have preferred multiple short day/nights.

Overall a nice idea, well implemented. Good job!

Barber Blues by Tijn 2016-04-30T11:06:00

Oh wow this one is a gem!

The music is mindbogglingly good, I couldn't believe this was made during the compo until I saw the timelapse. Much wow!
I love the idea and thanks to the hilarious shaving sound effect it is so much fun too.

Excellent job, definitely one of my favourites this Ludum Dare.

buki buki! by cowboycolor 2016-04-30T09:14:00

Very nice concept and the art and audio is well done.

However killing enemies is unrewarding and just evading them is easier.

Legend of the Bucca by A Little Red Panda 2016-04-19T00:06:00

The art is wonderful and would benefit greatly from sound. This would hit the atmosphere out of the ball park!

Potholing by pss 2016-04-30T09:05:00

I like this game. It is very polished for a compo game, nice art and sounds, everything fits well together. Good job.

I would have liked a goal in the game, as the highscore doesn't really motivate me to play on.

Elegant Flamingo by georgebatch 2016-04-18T21:05:00

Impressive graphics, such lovely colors! Especially considering you spent only 7 hours on the game.

Runeshift by demogorgon 2016-04-19T07:55:00

I can confirm what the others said: instructions needed.

Switch Them All by Kano 2016-04-19T00:26:00

I got the same error as falloneus.

Switch Them All by Kano 2016-04-19T01:02:00

How do I run the game? All I see is the error message and a black screen. Nothing seems to be loading or happening.

The Maze Nightmare by docteurSid 2016-04-19T08:08:00

Oooh, very eerie atmosphere with the music. And the shrinking vision gives me an increasingly claustrophobic feeling. Well done.

However it seems that the shifting level can lock in the things I'm collecting, making them unaccessible. Also it was unclear at first that I can pass through diagonal gaps. Is this intentional? If so there really should be a visible gap between the tiles. Also at the level boundaries I can walk around freely by hugging the walls.

I lasted 283 seconds btw. if anyone wants to compare highscores :)

The Wewelsburg Experiment by BubsyPoochies 2016-04-30T09:56:00

Nice entry, great lightning (and lighting) effects which work well with the sound. A lot of different characters even though they feel all to samey. Overall a great entry!
My biggest complaint is the exploration. There seem to be no hints as to where to go, the rooms are all empty except for enemies which are unrewarding to fight (it's just easier to evade them, there is just no reason to hassle with them).

Marked For Death by 1qgl 2016-04-19T19:21:00

It's a neat idea and a really cool scene, reminds me of the matrix. Kudos!
But can the game be won? I couldn't escape or find a way to get rid of the knife suites.

Down The Well by ekx 2016-04-18T22:12:00

Wow the music is so simple but it creates an eerie atmosphere very effectively.
The game mechanic is very simple but fun for a short while and fits the theme well.
Good job!

Shiftah by GaryS 2016-04-19T00:54:00

Very nice entry, especially considering this is your first game ever. Good job! I like the clean look and the music.

The collisions lack a bit of umph though, when I crash into the wall it's a bad thing, right? So give me feedback, shake the screen, add a nasty sound effect. I think this would make a big difference in the game feel.

Shiftah by GaryS 2016-04-19T00:54:00

Oh and I got 2400 :) Eat this tayl1r!

Shiftah by GaryS 2016-04-19T00:59:00

And now I have 3800. This is fun!

Shallow Shift by rahulparihar 2016-04-30T09:24:00

I really like the mood you create with the well done black and white sprites and simple yet effective music. Good job.

Apeshifter Munk by monkeybit29 2016-04-18T20:57:00

Wow, is this really a Compo entry? Impressive! Very nice level design, great introduction to the mechanic.

BlowRider: Legends by WojtaW 2016-04-19T00:23:00

This is a super fun game, too bad I don't have a partner to play with.
I love the steering by shapeshifting the wheels, very innovative. Good job!

Edge Shift - Blackhole by Danoli3 2016-04-19T08:52:00

The keys were not working for me either (chrome). But the graphics were very pleasing to look at :)

Shape Shifts by htspencer88 2016-04-18T20:08:00

Nice idea but I had a hard time getting it. It's hard to read which platform is solid and which is not. Also I didn't understand what relevance the shapes have.

I read the description twice but it didn't help much. Maybe I'm stupid or still tired from the jam but I would have appreciated a step by step introduction to the mechanics.

Still it's a very nice entry for your first time. Congrats!

The Elemental by Zormon 2016-04-30T09:35:00

Nice atmosphere! The music is very eerie and the lighting really adds to the mysterious feeling. Nice light effects too.

The punishment for dying is just brutal. The walking distance until you get to the actual obstacles is too far. If I walk past the "Space to jump" tutorial more than once, it is a bad sign, and calls for a checkpoint further into the level. There is a input delay making jumping really hard.

Shapeshift by coldman 2016-04-18T22:18:00

I really like the font! The graphics are nice overall but the game lacks in content. But a decent base to work from.

LD36 — Ancient Technology

Steaming by David Durham 2016-09-06T14:22:00

This reminds me a lot of micro machines :)

Sound effects would add a lot to the game, music as well. Since this is a jam entry there is no excuse to not include stock sounds. The game would instantly be twice as good.

Also collision between the cars would be great. This would make the game much more competitive and fun.

Reinvent the Wheel by Linus123xbb 2016-09-06T04:39:00

I love the idea! It's also well enough implemented but it is a shame that the game abstracts the wheels I draw so much. I drew a star shape, the game makes a circular shape out of it :(

I misused the highscore submit to promote my game :P I hope you don't mind. It would be a great motivation to keep playing if I knew if there were any more highscores ahead of me. Show me something like "only XX more meters to beat 'highscore name'"

Guidance by Avalanche Games 2016-09-06T14:50:00

Cute little game. It's rare that a LD game feels too short, but this one does. It has nice graphics and music and has a polished feel to it though.

The levels were very straight forward and there was no thinking required to solve them. I would prefer the levels to be more challenging.

I don't see the connection to the theme.

Boulderama! by AtkinsSJ 2016-09-06T13:58:00

Nice little game. Reminds me of Droplitz. I have a few nitpicks though.

The boulder is hard to see. I would increase the contrast drastically.

The music got annoying very fast. The loop is just too short and simple. As this is a jam entry, you were free to use any stock music. I would recommend you take advantage of that fact next time.

I agree with @bentglasstube that the tiles should rotate faster. Also the game lacks challenge, thus I had no motivation to guide all boulders onto the pedestals. Maybe if I had to manage multiple boulders at the same time, or if I could earn combos or something like that...

Glutenburg by Ebriosus 2016-09-06T04:22:00

The game screen is too tiny. I had to get out the windows magnifier just to be able to read it. It's nice that you can scale the screen up but the font is still not very readable.

The game is very simple but it has such a wordy tutorial. "Feed ink to the type-o-matic to produce plates. Use printing press when you have enough plates. Eat when hungry." A concise intro would be much effective in my opinion. Also I would like to have better feedback from the machinery. Are there to few plates to use the press? Tell me so.

The game mechanics don't make much sense to me. There seems to be no challenge or purpose, it's a mere waiting game. The conversion rate seems especially useless, why over complicate things when it adds nothing to the game?

There are also balancing issues. I was tasked with 6+1 green and 4+5 blue plates. So the read ones were completely useless. Waiting for the 36 blue ink vials was very frustrating. Each red ink I collected just added to the frustration, knowing it did not help me in any way.

I hope my feedback isn't too harsh, I'm trying to be as constructive as I can. I can see that you put some love into the game. The pixel art is really nice and the sound is decent.

Temple Balls by SiberianCyborgs666 2016-09-06T14:30:00

The embedded version here on the LD site does not work, it just says "http://bellageniberg.ucoz.net/banners/banner02.png,https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.zealandteam.real.city.racing"

I like the art, it is well drawn and animated. The sound effects are fine too, but the music music gets annoying very quickly. The quality is good, but it's just much too short.

I would like the upgrade progress to be much quicker. Maybe the coins could be worth more, the further you are in the level. Or maybe beating your own highscore give you a bonus?

Lazer Patriarch by AODQ 2016-08-31T01:08:00

Very slick presentation, great intro, nice pixel art and audio.

The performance was very bad though, many slowdowns for no apparent reason (Win 10). This made the game almost unplayable and killed most of the fun.

Also I could not figure out what to do. After reading the description here I guess I know what I was supposed to do but I couldn't make it work in game. The level seems to be randomly generated, this really doesn't benefit the experience. I the game would work a lot better if the first few rooms/levels would be handmade. You could then teach the player about the mechanics and introduce them one at a time.

COOT - Council of Obsolete Technologies by LandoSystems 2016-08-30T21:05:00

Very nice and polished entry. I played the Web version and I love how the game integrates perfectly with the nice background image.

However the game began to run very sluggishly after level 3 so I was unable to continue. A shame really as I like the humor, presentation and overall idea. Good job.

Egyptian sniper by PnDAA 2016-09-06T04:52:00

Overall this is a solid entry. Nice art and sound, good amount of polish.

Personally I dislike the call outs like "noob" or "fuck you". They are too frequent and there are too few, so it get's old very fast.

Playing on normal I would have preferred more variety in enemy types. So instead of a horde of AA enemies I would have like to have fewer enemies but with different letter combos.

Cultivate by ruthiepee 2016-09-06T14:39:00

This game is very nice to look at and also pleasing to the ears. Very zen like.

The problem with watching gras grow however is that it's not very exiting. I would have liked more things to do or a little bit of a challenge.

Babel by johnbjuice 2016-08-31T00:16:00

The Web link seems broken, I got "There was an error with your request". The game ran fine here on the LD site though.

It's a nice little game. The music really drives things forward, though the loop is a bid short. The laugh is great though.

The platforming was a bit easy for my taste and I would have preferred to type out words instead of random char sequences. Also the X and K look to similar as others already noted. Still a fun game. Good job!

Ancient Chaos by Alsatian Studio 2016-09-06T13:41:00

I tried the web version using chrome on a mac. It got stuck on the loading screen.

Left Behind by RockhopperGames 2016-09-06T13:09:00

I like the idea of drones exploring and I like how you implemented the controls.
This allows for interesting options, like two drones performing a little dance for the other drone, driving in formation and such.

You managed to create a great atmosphere, very moody. Good job. However there seems to be nothing to discover or interact with. No story either.

This makes the game a hollow experience, which is a bit sad.

Sentinel by Ilseroth 2016-08-31T00:33:00

Very nice entry! Moody and coherent art style and considering the time constraints the animations and modeling is respectable.

It seems like you would have preferred the theme "one enemy" though ;)

Dr. Sauce by dos 2016-08-31T00:50:00

Haha the humor in this game is great and you nailed the theme! I love the intro and the voice over, the accent really adds to the wacky vibe.

However I struggled to charge the time machine and once I got what I had to do there was no challenge to it, it was just tedious. But the story really makes this game stand out, I should look at your previous entries, maybe there is more gold hidden there :)

Where Is My Boat by PlasmaErnst 2016-09-06T02:43:00

Nice art style, really like the smoke/dust effect. Too bad there is no gameplay or sounds.

Plant + Birds by TerraCottaFrog 2016-09-06T03:25:00

It took me a while to understand how play the game. More instructions ingame would be nice.

Once I got it though I had fun. I like the growing mechanic. However I do not see the connection to the theme.

The game did not shut down properly after game over, had to kill it in the task manager.

Write Only by randomhuman 2016-08-31T01:20:00

Nice graphics and mood. I like the gameplay mechanics but the difficulty is way to hard for my taste. I need a way to heal myself, this is a cover shooter I should actually heal automatically ;) Grenades would be a cool way to get rid of those hiding cowards.

NEONAUT by pixelpotions 2016-09-06T13:39:00

The art and soundtrack are absolutely amazing! The animations are cute and the pixel work looks just lovely. Well done.

I did not understand what I had to do in the game. Only after reading the description here I had a clue. It would be nice if the game would teach the player how to play.

The console font is very stylish and fits well into the game but is hard to read. I admit that the text is not really important thus it's acceptable to be unintelligible.

Echo Through the Aztec by Pikby 2016-09-06T03:13:00

Very nice entry! I like the idea and it is overall a well executed and polished entry. I have a few nitpicks though:

Text is hard to read against background sometimes, maybe add a border to the font or use a different background for text.

Blocking pillar is visually not different enough from non blocking pillar.

I can't walk back to previous rooms, for no apparent reason. Either block the way back or just allow me to go back.

I got stuck at one puzzle (it's hard to describe which one, but the puzzle layout is: button, active yellow wall, inactive yellow floor, inactive yellow floor, active yellow floor,, inactive yellow floor). It would be nice if the levels had a number or name or theme so identifying would be easier. I really want to know how to solve this one. Could you explain or post a walkthrough or something?

Overall this really is a nice entry, definitely one of the better ones I've palyed this LD. Good job!

LD38 — A Small World

Small World Simulator by Rialgar 2017-05-14T13:26:24Z

I had this running in the background for a while to see what kind of world would generate. I was a bit disappointed by the lack of variety.

screen.png

Maybe pole caps or other biomes would make it more interesting. Still a fun little toy.

Parvus Mundi by Antiwrapper 2017-05-13T22:14:19Z

I like the art style, the red black white color palette is tried and true, and even with the simple graphics in this game it still looks good.

The game lacked challenge for my taste. I would have liked it to be more difficult or more complex.

I think the quickest improvement to make is to add sounds, this would have made the game twice as good for a relatively small time investment.

Protolife by icxon 2017-05-05T20:29:18Z

I had trouble playing the game at first, because whenever I pressed Tab instead of switching current block the browser gave focus to the next element on the page. I switched from chrome to firefox and then it worked fine.

Good introduction to the game mechanics. Even so it is not the most intuitive game, I figured out how to play right away. The game reminds me of Conway's game of life, in a good way. I really like how quickly the patterns can be changed to do something else, for example change left shooting to top shooting requires moving only one block. This is well thought out and my favorite part about the game.

The music was ok, from a jam entry I would have expected a bit more, you could use preexisting stuff after all. The graphics are the weakest part in my opinion, but it worked well, was readable at all times and the effects in the intro screen were neat.

Good job overall.

Hugely Unpopular President Simulator by CliffracerX 2017-05-05T21:47:53Z

Too bad the game is so unfinished I would have loved me some "Goat Simulator style Smash-Em-Up".

The controls are very unfortunate. Why not use the mouse for looking around. The feedback by @occultone hits the nail on the head, so I'm not gonna repeat it.

Kudos to you for daring to pick such a divisive topic. I would have crapped my pants in fear of the possible reactions to this.

Daylight by conrad123 2017-05-14T15:30:42Z

Rated. Keeping it short so your score on feedback friends doesn't suffer ;)

Dream World by Mordokay 2017-05-13T21:23:08Z

For a compo entry this was highly impressive. The music was very good, the game worked fine and had a good a mount of polish. The fact that it is all in 3D makes this even more impressive.

The color palette is too garish for my taste and the models do not communicate well what they will do to you. The flying saucer enemies looked like lamps at first, the red transparent thingies did not seem threatening at all. But the spiky things the enemies drop look very deadly, even so they seem to be beneficial (I actually don't know what these were for). Other then trees I could not identify anything. I don't mind weirdness, but when everything is unintelligible I get kind of lost.

I was unable to place the third build option. Don't know if that's a bug or I was simply to dense.

My Highscore: 2195

The Clearing by masterkrepta 2017-05-13T22:00:18Z

Wow this seems like a very ambitious project for a compo entry. 3D assets, survival mechanics, monkey AI, sounds and all that jazz. That's a lot of work for a weekend. It did not seem well balanced, as once I got enough food I had no trouble survival and things got boring quick. Either make survival harder or add a second objective.

There are some small annoyances with the game. - The map was weirdly aligned, or maybe the camera was not pointing north. I would have expected to move north on the map when walking up. - With the chopping animation sometimes the axe and the person were out of sync.

SmallHexWorld by japes 2017-05-14T13:18:14Z

Such a clever game, I love this! The graphics ain't much to look at but the well designed mechanics make up for it. One of the best games I played this LD.

I got 7481 points. screen.png Not as good as the bot of @stuntddude but it's something.

Bureaucratic Deity Simulator 2018 by mmason 2017-05-12T15:42:00Z

Neat puzzle game. Decent graphics and audio, plenty of levels, seems very complete.

I was confused at first. I did not understand that the dropped tile is immune to change, but eventually I figured it out.

What I would like is for the current objective to be always displayed. Sometimes I'm to hasty and click away the level introduction before I read it. Or sometimes I simply forget what it was I was supposed to do. I did find the ?-symbol in the end but still.

Lalao by ysty 2017-05-14T15:01:14Z

This was very well done. I love the voice over and the story, I did not expect the inner planet to have an inner planet too.

The graphics worked well and the sounds were very fitting.

My main critique is that the game can not be won. Maybe I was doing too good a job but the game ended because I gave up, not because I was overwhelmed. I think I could have kept the world going for how ever long I wanted.

Little Italy by hiki911 2017-05-14T20:12:10Z

The music was superb, set a really cheery mood. I liked driving around and figured quickly out what to do. The car handling was well done, but at high speeds it refused to turn, which is a shame as I would have liked to do some drifting. The playtime could have been shorter as driving around seem to be a bit pointless after a couple of minutes.

My highscore was around 45000, if anyone wants to compare.

Satellite Bash by Elemental Zeal Game Studios 2017-05-12T15:27:50Z

That was fun! Really like the idea and it has a good amount of polish, good job!

The moon swinging mechanic reminds me very much of Hammerfight. I know it is not fair to compare a LD game to a commercial game but the swinging of the moons felt a bit too stiff and the moons did not always react in the way I would have expected them to. Maybe reducing the moons mass or maybe making the joint between moon and earth more bouncy would improve the feel. I know that is hard to do in such a short amount of time, so still well done.

Binary Glitch by JOrbits 2017-05-01T21:18:09Z

Simple game with an interesting mechanic. Good job. The decision to make the bullets move quicker the further away the mouse cursor is, is interesting. Though this may create the problem that shooting behaves differently depending on the aspect ratio of the screen. I think the game would work better if it wasn't tile based. There is no reason why it has to be tile based and the jerky movement is killing the fun for me (also it doesn't look very pleasing). Also the tile based movement has the side effect that moving diagonally is a lot faster than moving horizontally or vertically.

I did not understand what killed me most of the time. This is especially confusing at the beginning of the game, when you are just standing still and the black adds up on your tile, but you can't see any of it. Maybe this could be solved by making the player a different color and transparent. Thus the player could see that his char is getting darker.

I did not like the music very much, the drum was to repetitive for my taste.

My highscore: 1200

Balanced Upon A Turtle by BluShine 2017-05-13T22:31:51Z

This was a good one! 3D assets, cute models, good music and solid sounds, everything very coherent, good and innovative game idea. Super impressive for a compo entry.

I wish the herder was less of a wimp and could push a bit harder. But I did like that he was spinning instead of some more conventional form of movement. Also I wish the sheep would not slide on the water as much.

Headroom by PhilStrahl 2017-05-01T17:06:07Z

The music and visuals are superb. Really impressive that you managed to do this in such a short amount of time. The game idea is neat but some aspects are as clearly communicated as could be. For example the difference in key size could be bigger, so it's easier to tell if it has the right size to fit in the lock.

I encountered a bug, where the key fell through the floor and I had to restart the game.

I'm looking forward to the documentary :)

Inner World by negativice 2017-05-13T22:46:02Z

The abrupt ending made me chuckle. It's a bit of a shame that you did not do more with the nice assets you created. Everything has a good amount of polish so if there would have just been more of it, that would have been great.

I like that you recorded narration it was a nice touch.

Infecteria by LiquidBrain 2017-05-01T21:51:52Z

Cool game. I like that I'm playing something on a microscopic scale as this fits the theme nicely (also I had a similar idea at the beginning of the jam but did not go with it).

The music and sounds are well fitting and I did not notice that the sounds were made with your mouth while I played. Good job.

The visuals are pleasing and communicate everything nicely.

Rotating the stick to go faster seems gimmicky and doesn't add anything worthwhile. It's especially disappointing that rotating is not represented visually or via sound.

I only managed 9/30 and getting all 30 seems impossible to me. Is there a trick or am I just bad?

rocket ship by Zirrrus 2017-05-12T23:28:19Z

The graphics are simple but nice and clean. Sounds would have added a lot, a shame there aren't any. The ship was incredibly hard to control. As you wrote in the description "You usually either are flung away from the planet into the cold emptiness of space or crash half a second after take-off.", this sums it up very well.

Microms' World by TomBuston 2017-05-05T21:26:28Z

Congratulations on finishing the game on your own :) It's a cute little game.

The music is so relaxed and the Microms seem so chill it made me totally oblivious how dire their situation is. Survival is on the line, it's life or death. For Christs sake they are launching THEMSELVES into orbit just to allow there next of kin to survive a little longer.

I had a hard time keeping them alive, there were just to few load bearing sky octopuses around.

Hamster, RUN! by theDoodleGuy 2017-05-13T00:15:16Z

Your interpretation of the theme is brilliant, but I'm biased because I made a hamster game too ;)

A shame there were no sounds or music. That would have added a lot the the atmosphere and also would have made it much clearer that falling deals damage. I did not realize this at first, but with a fitting sound effect and maybe a graphical hint this would have been instantly clear. Other than that it was a well designed puzzle game. Had to retry a couple of times but made it in the end.

One bug I noticed was that my score was not reset after dying.

Bamboo Life by candlesan 2017-05-13T00:46:32Z

Wow this game was surprisingly addicting. Optimizing the farm layout was fun.

For a compo game it has solid graphics and sound effects. I think for this kind of game it is ok to have no music. It was well made overall.

I would have liked the mouse wheel to switch through the items. Also it would be great if the game kept running in the background.

I did not get how the koalas work, I tried placing them facing bamboo. Only after looking at screenshots here in the comments I got it.

World of Hamster Kibble by johnnysix 2017-05-12T23:45:31Z

I too made a game with a hamster in it so obviously I think your interpretation of the theme is pure genius ;) The music was outstanding, especially for a compo entry. I love the sprites, the animations work well and the derpy look of the hamster eating is great.

What I did not like is the lack of proper ending. I ate a lot of food and my happiness was maxed out, I found the cage with the "You win", too. But a victory screen would have been nice.

Bug Attack! by Gurbx 2017-05-05T20:55:34Z

I love the art, everything is looking crisp and clean.

The sound effects are alright, music would have been nice (though none is better then annoying).

The tutorial text was progressing automatically, I would have preferred to manually progress it, this way I would not have missed any of it.

My main complaint is about the game progression. There was no goal. Sure the wave count increased and the bugs were getting tougher but I quickly lost motivation to continue. As the bugs got me at wave 11 I had no reason to try again. If the goal had been clear to me maybe I would have tried again.

Planet Bash by killerkun 2017-05-05T21:13:25Z

Wow, this game is impressively polished! Nice visuals and great audio. Good job

My main complaint is the lack of depth. To me it seems like the most effective way is to simply double tap to the side and keep spinning in that direction while spamming smashes. Make the double tap a short sprint with a cooldown instead of a continuous thing, or make the enemies hit me more effectively when I'm only circling.

I also do not like that it comes with an installer. Just give me a zip or something.

My highscore: 1499686

Planet Taxi by Marin0104 2017-05-14T15:18:58Z

This was fun, but I had a bit of trouble in the beginning. I just could not find my target. Once I figured the directions out I could not be stopped. I think I would still be driving but then my car got stuck in a building. I still had lots of fun, the core game play is really solid. Well done.

There are a couple of troublesome spots on the map. - sometimes the bridge stopped me for no reason - between the bridge and the church the camera rotates weirdly messing up the steering

The music was really driving things forward, gave it a very nice mood.

My highscore was $21,91. But it seems that the highscore is not reset after loosing, so maybe that was over more then 1 session.

Nice graphics and audio, make this a very polished entry. Good job.

It was weird that all those huge celestial bodies had no gravitational pull. It seems only the platforms pull the ship in.

The ship was relatively hard to manoeuvre, with only one direction of thrust. I overshot the landing platforms all the time. At the end I got stuck between two trees with no way of getting free.

I like the terrain and trees. The sound effects are well made too.

The movement was super smooth and I like that you only need one button to play it. But why do I have to press the button at all? This could be a no button game, just track the mouse all the time.

It's a bit of a shame that there is no gravity. I bet it would be more fun if the ball would roll down hill.

I got 7 stars. It was demotivating that my only reward for collecting and returning the gems, was an increase in difficulty. The game lacks a goal.

SUN GOD by palemachine 2017-05-01T22:15:40Z

This is a great entry, very polished. The music and visuals are great, very juicy. I like the explosion effect very much. Good job overall.

I'm very impressed that this is a compo entry, after playing I expected this to be a jam entry, had to double check.

The game is a bit too luck based. I think you can't win the game if you are unlucky with the planet spawns. There is no reason for the planets to be randomly placed, as this game is so short and has no replay value (as soon as you win).

The tutorial is much to wordy for my taste. It's not a complicated game and walls of text are the worst method to communicate how it's played. A single screen with instructions would suffice and work much better.

Nice little game with a good amount of polish. Good job. The game looks good and all art assets work well together and there are some neat effects, like the entry heating of the asteroids.

I would have liked to be able to have more control over my craft. Something simple like stop shooting to charge the shot would have added a lot to it. The way it is now it feels to limited and it seems the most important factor in wining is spawn luck of the asteroids and not how you steer your craft.

There was no sound or music the first time I played (web version). Only after I refreshed the site I heard something. The intro music is very high quality and epic, while in game the music is much simpler and very different in style. The sound effects are relatively crude too. There is nothing wrong with the individual assets, but the mix is a bit weird. The lack of sound effects for the shooting seemed odd.

My Highscore: 37500 Come at me bros :men_wrestling:

Hamil the Hamster by filipeabelha 2017-05-12T23:56:10Z

Cute little game. It was fun to play and chasing a new high score made me play longer than I planned. My highscore was 25 btw.

I did not expect the trees to be obstacles, maybe something more menacing would have worked better.

The graphics seem to bit of a weird mix of resolutions. The platforms are relatively high res while the background is very blurry.

I like the music but the loop is too short.

Hey, cool to see another game starring a hamster. Obviously I think your interpretation of the theme is absolutely brilliant ;)

The graphics were nice, the sounds were fitting, though some music would have been nice.

The game was very simple but well made. I like that you display the carrot counter X/14, this way the goal is instantly clear.
