Really reminds me of those old Shareware games I used to play all the time.
Graphics are pretty good for what you're trying to do and it's really fun. The audio isn't that great and I turned down the volume a bit because I didn't like the sound effects that much.
The gameplay is pretty basic, but I had fun, so good job.
I really wanted to play this game but i couldn't because of the window size.Window height was too big for my laptop resolution and i couldn't resize the window either (i guess the game is not resizable) :(
Hey! Nice strategy game. I like the way you fit the theme and the whole concept. The only thing I don't like is the attack sound. It's a bit annoying :) Anyway, great job!
I really enjoyed it. Made it to level 21 and felt like I was so strong and pumping out warlocks like crazy so I just stopped. Could have played for a while lol. Its tough to do a tower defense RTS for ludum dare but you hit it right on. Only thing I would change is to zoom in the graphics a bit. I would have like the warriors to play more of a roll as a tank so I had a reason to build and control them later on.
Kudos on pulling of a RTS for LD! Had fun with this! Reached Wave 16 but plan on giving it another go. I know it is asking a lot for a LD RTS, but really, really missed being able to double-click on a unit and select all of that type.

Thank you all for playing and leaving feedback! I really appreciate it and hope that you enjoyed playing the game! I'll give feedback on your games as well in return when I get the time to do so.
@zelos @ursigames The sound effects were added to the game after it basically was done, and I didn't have time (and energy) to really put very much effort into them. It was also the first time I've ever added sound to a game so I didn't really know what I was doing. Next time I'll spend more time on the sound for sure, and I'd also like to make some music. So yes, apologies to your ears!
@mutfak-studios I'm sorry :(
@tombishopspg As it is now the warriors are kind of useless. I also played around with balancing it a while, and I felt that it either got too difficult or it got to easy. Really hard to hit that sweet spot.
@ryte2byte There is a lot of functionality missing that you'd expect from a basic RTS for sure! I was intending for the selected units to show up in the menu so that you'd be able to select all of each type, but just to get the game playable took a lot longer than expected and i didn't have time to implement it.

WOW, a real complete RTS game for a LudumDare! That's already a great exploit!
Got a resolution problem on my first try, like [this](http://imgur.com/a/wTRdo). I couldn't see every stat and resources. But I tried on another screen with a bigger resolution, and everything worked fine! I already got this problem in java, I think that's not a big deal!
It's a really great entry, especially for a compo! Everything work fine. It may need a little more balancing but hey, 48h is really short, so that's not a problem at all!
One of the most complete compo entry I've seen so far, congratulations =)

Very cool! I wish I could repair the damaged buidlings and zoom in a bit. The window was very small for me. I could totally imagine a RTS where you have to go out and collect resin and pollen as resources actually. Also rip wizard who moved with the normal warriors into the enemy and blew up. The sounds are a bit harsh too, but that often happens with bfxr/sfxr.
Good entry. This felt somehow familiar, maybe it was close to all those online games I played when I was little. Different resolutions would be nice and adding features like zoom, repairing, maybe healing would have made this better. But for a 48h game I think this was very good. I got to level 16 and then died. I think its good idea to continue develop the game further.
Nice graphics and cool idea! Well done :)
Fun game, although the small size of everyone made them hard to keep track of.
I just able to play your game. Its exciting to see RTS game made for the compo. Game is beautiful. Its challenging erlier but later on you just become undefeatable. Easy fix for that could be inability to place buildings on top of each other. Other than that a hard cap at unit capacity and more powerfull units fills more capacity. Overall this game is very solid compo entry, its amazing that one guy can make a game like this just in 48 hour.

Great game! Nice job on creating a whole, well balanced rts. Nice use of the theme too. Played it for longer than i should have ;)

Didn't expect to see a complete RTS, nice work. The gameplay and graphics are solid, the sounds are a bit jarring, but I understand that with time constraints sometimes you don't have much of an alternative. In any case, great job!

Nice work with the elaborate explanations in the beginning of the game. Seems like the difficulty curve was pretty well tuned also. The only thing that was a bit hard to keep track of how much warriors that you have.
Fun game, but a little bit to easy. Stopping now in lvl35 :)
Good job, i really liked the graphics.

I'm super impressed a pretty-much complete RTS was done for Ludum Dare - wow!
It felt like an early 90s shareware game from my childhood in a wonderfully nostalgic way, and felt very well-rounded and complete for a jam game.

I love the art, everything is looking crisp and clean.
The sound effects are alright, music would have been nice (though none is better then annoying).
The tutorial text was progressing automatically, I would have preferred to manually progress it, this way I would not have missed any of it.
My main complaint is about the game progression. There was no goal. Sure the wave count increased and the bugs were getting tougher but I quickly lost motivation to continue. As the bugs got me at wave 11 I had no reason to try again. If the goal had been clear to me maybe I would have tried again.
Really cute and nice, love how everything is so tiny.

That was an awesome wave defense/RTS hybrid. It was a lot of fun playing and I went a lot further than I thought I was with the entry. I liked the pollen/resin progression with the different buildings effectively unlocking new units because it forced you to be able to save up more pollen.
Its pretty impressive that you managed to complete this with pretty solid feeling controls. That being said, there are couple RTS conventions that would've made the experience a lot more fun to control. The ability to double click on units to select all of that type (so it would be much easier to send warriors to the front) and the ability to either hotkey back to the barracks or queue units in training there (so I could focus on combat and training). Also single clicking on a unit to select it would've been nice too.
Again, great game, especially in the time constraints!

Wave 15 got me. Well done and consistent implementation. It looks good and it plays good.
Some random bonuses spawned on a map that enforce player to move units will be a nice addition to the gameplay. Also, it could be some special player abilities with a cooldown/mana cost, e.g. meteor, extra resourses, units drop and etc.
Thank you.
Realy nice game! Well done! Maybe also check out my Game!

Cool game! I generally love RTS and this one is like actual Warcraft I in a bug's world. Amazing scope for the Compo - it is actually a full-blown strategy game.

Cool stationary defense game. I liked what you did with the setting. Made it to wave 15.
I think your game could have benefited a lot from a more visceral feel. Everything was so tiny that it was hard to get the impression of a real battle, which is difficult to pull off I think. What could have helped may have been some additional balancing. Maybe make all your attackers stronger and spawn more weaker enemies from the beginning. Give the player the feeling they are creating a powerful army right from the start. Taking a cue from Tower Defense games, maybe allow the troops to get upgrades, possibly one upgrade that affects every single unit, e.g. by building a special building that can also be destroyed and thus needs to be protected at all costs, which would require repairable buildings and so on.
I love this video on game feel, I post it everywhere, and your game is a good candidate:

Technically, one thing I found a bit strange was that there was no minimum distance between buildings so I put them all down at the same place until I wasn't able to find my barracks anymore :(
All in all a solid entry that deserves to be expanded upon.
This one is promising! :)
The controls work reasonably fine, but it took me some time to get used to the right mouse button doing both the troops movement and entering the buildings menu. Maybe you should just display the buildings menu whenever no Barrack was selected?
By the way, what is the point of selecting buildings besides the Barracks? As far as I understood, selecting them is completely pointless, and may prevent you from selecting a Barrack close to them.
Other people have already said this, but letting the player build buildings on top of other buildings is highly exploitable. Look at my screenshot: my base is reasonably small, but there are thousands of buildings there.
It is also weird that the characters can occupy the same space. I know it is hard to avoid that, and I think you made the movement into a random square for that reason, but maybe there should be some physics calculations on movement. You would also have to implement some path-finding algorithm if you were to do that. But you are right doing it like this for the LD, you only had 48 hours after all. :P
One small bug I found is that each Barrack can't go over the population limit, but multiple Barracks can (by stacking units simultaneously). Look at my screenshot: I've made 31 Warlocks more than the limit of the houses with 4 Barracks.
Speaking of Warlocks, they are so overpowered that there is no point building any of the other units. In fact, it is harmful for you long term, since they take up population spaces. Maybe you could make each unit type strong against some enemies and weak against others. That way I would have to create other types of units, and there would be more strategy involved, instead of a simple race to build Warlocks. :P
The sound effects were fine at first, but once the Warlock number started getting high, I had to mute the game, since the shots were making a very big noise. You should probably do something to control the sound volume of many simultaneous shots.
By the way, I've kept the game running in the background for hours, and I don't think the bugs have any chance to get even near my 600 Warlocks in the foreseable future. That is why some people said it was easy: you just have to create enough Warlocks and you're invincible.
Bottomline: Very good job, especially since it was made for the compo! And thank you for rating my Little Scout. :)

Thank you everyone for leaving comments and rating my game! There are some really amazing feedback here! Thank you!
Making an RTS style game was a challenge for me and I didn't completely succeed as there are a lot of basic RTS elements and features that are broken, or just missing. The balancing is way off and the sound is frankly horrible. Nonetheless, It was my first time participating and didn’t really know what to expect so I’m still pretty happy with how it turned out.
Next time I’ll try to limit myself to a smaller scope and focus on making it less broken, as well as put more effort into the sound. I have zero experience with making music so that’s something I’ll need to learn for next time.
@hadmade I agree that some goal should have been added. As it is now, you pretty much become undefeatable after getting past wave 20, so getting to wave 20 could work as a goal and should have been added.
@icxon Thank you! Great suggestion! I might add a special resource that you get from killing bugs that you can spend on summoning a boot to stomp on the bugs.
@cerno-b Some really good suggestions, thanks! The video was really interesting and I’ll try to work more on the feel of the game for sure!
@tex-killer Thank you so much for the very high quality of feedback! I really appreciate it!!! Some really great observations and suggestions! It’s super valuable for me. Thank you so much for this!

Lovely game! I included it in my Ludum Dare 38 compilation video series, if you’d like to take a look :) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=reOMZ5szx64
