LD33 — You are the Monster

Retreat - The Reckless Move by Komradus 2015-08-25T13:11:00

Really fun - the physics was satisfying and the graphics were good. I tended to have fun ignoring the briefcase mission and just going around shooting things.

Performance dipped at times on my machine but it was bearable. The particle effect was a little gratuitous, but the rest of the graphics were on-point.

Escape From Twump Tower by 01010111 2015-09-09T12:17:00

The graphics and sound were absolutely fantastic. The platforming felt solid with one or two slight mishaps while picking things up, but overall it felt incredibly polished for a jam game!

Grandóhma by Thijs Tak 2015-08-25T11:34:00

Interesting concept - one of the most ambitious games I've seen in a jam in a while. The controls are a bit awkward but sufficient.

Delivery! by the31 2015-08-27T15:37:00

Great work for just 9 hours work - the driving physics is lots of fun and many barrel rolls were had.

(The theme link is fine!)

The Lair by Mekuri 2015-08-25T14:06:00

The graphics and mood on this were really striking and powerful. The gameplay was a bit slow, and it felt like the game as a whole started a little slowly but I enjoyed the combat.

I could easily see this as a more polished, post-Jam game.

Steve and Clomo by DrPrettyPatty 2015-08-27T13:02:00

Great graphics and fun gameplay, I really enjoyed this :)

Echo, by Robert 2015-08-25T13:53:00

Fantastic minimal art design, enjoyable stealth puzzle game. Absolutely great! I love the mood conveyed by the art too.

Mr. Yeti's Fast Food by Balzaque 2015-08-25T11:14:00

Outstanding. Absolutely fantastic graphics, sound and concept.

Escape From Science by ryanisaacg 2015-08-25T13:48:00

I enjoyed this quite a lot - despite the graphics being rather simple, they conveyed a decent mood and the gameplay variety was well done!

Little Monster by chipcaramel 2015-08-25T12:42:00

Ambitious and endearing - I really enjoyed this. It felt particularly polished and un-rushed as a lot of jam games will feel like.

Car of Monster by Alsatian Studio 2015-08-25T11:42:00

Great graphics and fun physics, this was pretty satisfying. The roads felt like they were quite long so the start was a bit slow, but that soon changed. I also got stuck in the trees a couple of times.

Human Complex by Shpuld 2015-08-30T02:21:00

Good mood and fun to sneak around in, all-round polished nicely!

I May Have Misunderstood: RPG by wooltech 2015-08-25T12:55:00

Amusing, enjoyable RPG. Nice to have something a little old school. Great job!

HahaOya by MomoyoSeiso 2015-08-27T12:59:00

Great graphics and the gameplay that is there is good :)

Oko Furia by Tselmek 2015-08-25T13:03:00

Really satisfying to crush those buildings, the graphics in general was great (particular eating the helicopters!). The audio was on-point and the whole thing felt pretty tight.

Speedy GOO-zales and the meal of infinity by dusakus 2015-08-25T14:59:00

This felt pretty original in it's idea, and I had a lot of fun almost catching him for ages.

The graphics and music were both pretty tight and well done too, great job!

50 DKP Minus! by Archonthewizard 2015-08-26T23:48:00

This was one of the best games I've played from Jam 33 yet - it's very fun, feels polished and plays really well. You should be really happy with your result!

Monstermanity by D3giler 2015-08-25T02:13:00

The sound and Mood were great - it has a definite feel to it.

The movement didn't feel perfect but I like the method of attacking, it felt a bit novel.

I knew I could download the dropbox folder as a zip at the top-right but a lot of people haven't noticed this - I'd suggest changing that!

The Empty by fdslk 2015-08-25T14:54:00

Fantastic graphics and use of the theme, the mood was set well and it felt quite reproachable in a good way.

The girl got stuck a couple of times on trees, but generally it was fun and enjoyable!

Room by shiroookami 2015-08-25T02:22:00

Superb mood and audio, dripping with atmosphere! Short, but the spectacle of what is there was worth the trade-off imho.

Just RAAWR it ! by Strike 2015-08-25T13:26:00

Really enjoyable - I occasionally got stuck in the building debris but it was otherwise great! Smashing up things was really satisfying.

Perfect use of that song.

Trees That Kill by irwatts 2015-08-25T14:47:00

This game looks and feels great - unfortunately I sat alone hosting a game for quite a while.

Perhaps you could organise a time when you'll be in a game so that we can get a multiplayer session!

You Can't Touch the Devil Game by DragonGino 2015-08-25T13:24:00

Slightly un-intuitive but once it clicked it was quite enjoyable. Original and great atmosphere!

The Mammoth: A Cave Painting by inbetweengames 2015-09-01T00:03:00

Absolutely fantastic - the best LD game I've seen in absolutely ages. I adored the brush-work graphics and the audio was spot on too.

Motherflipin' T-Rex! by mantis 2015-08-25T13:58:00

This is so much fun!

I liked the sense of humour, and the graphics and audio were pretty top-notch as well. The game was instantly understandable and enjoyable to play.

LD38 — A Small World

The Treachery of Game Dev by ratking 2017-05-10T20:49:32Z

This was a pretty hefty idea to tackle in a game jam and it was surprisingly well done - i'm amazed that it's as fully fledged as it is. I enjoyed the meta-ness of the game shell wrapped around it, and the little snake-like intro game was a neat concept too.

The Adventure of Malvin by NOFUEL 2017-05-03T20:30:17Z

Great graphics, cute use of the theme and satisfying gameplay. I was very pleased with the slide! I got lost a few times on where to go next, but this could have been me rather than a camera issue. fantastic entry.

Myrddin by cogcomp 2017-05-03T20:14:18Z

The feel/vibe of this game is great - very Diablo 1-esque! Certainly an impressive base for two days, and using your own engine? Nice!

The hammer felt a little under-powered and slow vs. the scrolls which took out most things in one shot which I felt strained the pace of combat a little, but overall a good entry!

MagiSEED by Vivoubos 2017-05-05T20:42:47Z

The platforming felt a little floaty but the graphics were cutesy and amusing. What I was most surprised by was your skill at making decent puzzles for a platformer using multiple abilities/mechanics all in a game jam. The shrinking one in particular could be expanded upon a lot in a longer game. Well done!

TerminAnt by davikin92 2017-05-03T20:21:26Z

I thought this was a good take on the theme! The shooting and grappling felt good, though I struggled with the movement (particularly) jumping a little. The enemy dying sound got a little old too, but I loved the rest of the sound (especially the bugs)

Snowed In by nuclearfriend 2017-05-04T22:12:29Z

Wow! This was hilarious, professional and entertaining. Good use of the theme and all-round very polished. Very impressive!

Neuroso by gamechoy 2017-05-05T20:51:26Z

The atmosphere was great on this game - music and sounds were superb, whoever did them knows their stuff! I thought the general concept was neat and the writing was both sharp and amusing. The gameplay itself felt like the weakest component but perhaps due to the fact that the other areas felt extra fantastic.

Fixville by vladik-plays 2017-05-05T20:59:37Z

While it's fair to say that scope for this was perhaps not doable inside the space of a jam, the amount of modelling and effort put into the rather fantastic intro cutscene is really impressive, and paints the beginning of what would be a fun concept and gameplay structure. Exploring the human world as a tiny person is an idea that has been explored in the past but is always fun and novel every time, so props for the theme implementation. It would be great to see this as a longer-term project.

I can't decide whether the people are cute or terrifying (dependent on how long you stare at them for)

Flat Earths! by ponywolf 2017-05-10T20:19:32Z

Wow. This feels really complete both from a content POV and a polish POV - very impressive. I love the graphics and the controls that start off confusing but become rather enjoyable once mastered. The gravity shift mechanic was a nice twist to separate it from its similarities to other couch coop games. Fantastic effort.

tinyarena by rxi 2017-05-11T20:04:24Z

The level of polish and enjoyability on this far exceeds what could ever be expected from a 48 hour jam entry. Massively impressive.

COSMOMOMOMOº by NueboMundo 2017-05-03T20:25:28Z

Cute, pretty, original and fun. This is a great entry with a solid level of quality across all areas (sound, graphics, gameplay, et al.) Great stuff.

rovR by morrilet 2017-05-03T20:39:40Z

I liked this a lot. Cute artstyle paired with some good sounds made for a good atmosphere, punctuated with some amusing humour. The gameplay was enjoyable too, it felt original and well executed as an idea for a jam which can be particularly difficult for puzzle game entries in jams.

Bug Attack! by Gurbx 2017-05-05T19:47:26Z

I'm super impressed a pretty-much complete RTS was done for Ludum Dare - wow!

It felt like an early 90s shareware game from my childhood in a wonderfully nostalgic way, and felt very well-rounded and complete for a jam game.

The Shifting Catacombs of Mu'ralagh by Madgvox 2017-05-07T16:39:36Z

Fantastic graphics, sound and atmosphere. I loved the art direction - incredibly well put together for such a short space of time.

The jumping puzzles were a bit frustrating in a 90's platformer sort of (bad) way, but otherwise it was really neat. I could see this being expanded into a bigger game for sure. Superb.

Planet Bash by killerkun 2017-05-05T20:32:06Z

Wow the soundtrack, crazy cool! Satisfying and meaty feeling controls and gameplay, I'm impressed by the level of polish that your game managed to achieve in just a couple of days. I love the inversion of being the one attack the planet vs. the usual (space invaders, missile command, etc.)!

Monolith by samlo 2017-05-13T18:31:49Z

Great visuals and audio, solid gameplay and controls with a polished sheen. The whole game feels very cohesive and well-scoped for a jam!

Chuck and Bull by CheesyMoo 2017-05-03T20:34:10Z

I enjoyed the graphics, sound and mood of this entry a lot - the more I imagined this farm the sadder I felt imagining this tiny space all on it's own. There isn't much gameplay to it, but it made me think a lot (perhaps unintentionally)!

Exhaust of Earth by Lipsch 2017-05-03T20:04:08Z

This was really cool - I liked the concept of a tower defence in a sphere a lot. It was difficult but with repeated tries I quickly got the hang of it - perhaps a slowing ramping up of the numbers of UFOs would help?

The graphics were good and while I bumped into a couple of bugs (quitting to the main menu and starting again didn't put my starting $ back up to $1000) it was overall impressive for a compo entry.

Depth Gun by leafo 2017-05-10T20:12:52Z

This was a very impressive game to be made in 48 hours - the overall presentation speaks to have been done with much more time! I found the aiming to be a little hard, but the controls were otherwise good. The visuals were super cool and the music was pretty fitting. Great stuff.

Tiny Venture by faemir 2017-05-03T22:24:45Z

@joe-cowman try running the prerequisites installer under **Engine/Extras/Redist/en-us/UE4PrereqSetup.msi** - let me know if that works!

Tiny Venture by faemir 2017-05-05T21:18:03Z

@studiocraftapps-developpement Apologies! Compiling UE4 for macOS requires a mac computer itself and none of the team have one! Perhaps in the future it'll happen or Epic will add a cross-compiler to the windows/linux editors.

Tiny Venture by faemir 2017-05-07T16:45:28Z

Thanks for all the feedback guys - I'm surprised that people aren't finding the oxygen plant - the random initial plant spawner might be unluckily not making any of them so I might alter it so it gives a rough split between them on game start. I'll look into the other minor bugs too.

Thanks for the feedback on the lack of a tutorial / the text being overload - I totally agree! To be honest it was all I could manage in the time we were given but in the next game we make we'll be sure to incorporate that sort of stuff as we go along!

A small world in danger by el_Flex0s 2017-05-05T21:07:53Z

This was a pretty complete feeling tower defence game - some of the weapons felt rather powerful but this is just a balancing issue - I run into this a lot in my own games too. The look and feel of the game was rather charming and somewhat amusing - I like the idea of taking a tower defence small onto a tiny scale given it's normally done on a rather large scale.

LD39 — Running out of Power

Amazeing Battery Life by ParkerMc 2017-08-11T20:31:31Z

This is seriously slick - you nailed it graphically, the sound design was good and the gameplay was stressful in just the right way. Well done!

Saturnalia by graebor 2017-08-07T18:34:01Z

Amazing graphics, audio and mood. The puzzles were simplistic but let me soak in the atmosphere. Great job!

Pro Cycling Simulator 91 by baylej 2017-08-08T22:20:58Z

Everything about this entry was fantastically charming and engaging. Great entry - I really enjoyed it.

Captain Lettuce by geck0 2017-08-02T19:27:54Z

Really slick overall - everything felt smooth and polished for a jam game. Having to balance fighting with draining power while keeping an eye on your health made for a frantic rush! Great effort.

Mothership by Almax 2017-08-02T19:38:24Z

Wow, i'm really impressed with the amount of game you managed to get out in three days - it's a good take on the theme, the gameplay fun while managing to be a little different and the graphics are good too. I hope you're really satisfied with this!

Energy Ghosts by FanMan 2017-08-07T18:17:42Z

Well done on completing your first LD entry! The gameplay idea reminds me of Missile Command, and was a good use of the theme. I often run out of time to do audio too, so I often use third party sounds which are then given credit (and not rated in that category) so perhaps try that in the future.

I hope you take part in LD40 too!

Lola's Barkade by A-Flat Miner Studios 2017-08-11T20:35:51Z

A dog arcade? Good use of theme, fantastic graphics and sound? How did you manage this for a jam! Well done!

Run'n Score by MatKubik 2017-08-02T22:17:44Z

A nice runner - I liked the barrel variety and the graphics were really great! It would have been good to have a little more variety on the mechanics of what the barrels did to you (especially the mystery ones) to add more variance. I managed to keep it going for a decent while where you could have been a bit meaner to the player once they got a bit further to really challenge them.

Keep up the good work and I hope you take part in LD40!

Manual Overload by Shawn Beck 2017-08-08T22:14:41Z

Bravo. Found on warpdoor, this is one of my favourite entries - I have pretty much no critique and can only express how great i think your entry is!

Rolling out of power! by Willbl3pic 2017-08-08T22:24:41Z

Great entry - it felt tough but fair. The graphics were cool and the changing audio was neat. I liked having to make tradeoffs in the moment-to-moment gameplay between picking up the +5s while hitting the negative ones.

Electro Swing by Sauski 2017-08-02T22:44:59Z

Great presentation - the graphics and sounds were good - I particularly liked the particles! The gameplay was smooth and i quickly got into a comfortable rhythm that was engaging. The camera felt a little bit jerky / harsh but I soon got used to it. The level changes were a little abrupt too, but overall a really great submission.

Vivid Sustain by faemir 2017-08-02T19:46:00Z

We made it in Unreal Engine 4, sadly it's not quite as good as Unity at keeping file sizes down, sorry!

Vivid Sustain by faemir 2017-08-03T21:08:21Z

@rixud Assuming your drivers are all updated, it's probably down to it just not being very efficiently coded unfortunately - I struggled with getting it smooth even on my pc in the final hour of the jam.

I'll see if I can release a performance fix in the next day to improve the situation!

Space Is Dark by Peter Jonsson 2017-08-09T21:10:36Z

This entry is great. It's a little too easy and slow, but the graphics and audio are great, and the actual gameplay loop is fine - I'd just ramp up the difficulty a little.

Really impressed you put together such a tight package for a jam. Great work!

The Light City of Karola by davidcollado 2017-08-07T18:37:34Z

Great graphics and sound, the platforming was decently challenging and a good use of the theme. Definitely one of my favourites of 39!

Coffee Hero: Powered by Coffee by Guilb 2017-08-07T18:41:04Z

This might be the best use of the theme i've seen, bravo. Great gameplay combined with fun graphics and sound. I am very impressed!

Battery Run by JustMars 2017-08-08T22:17:48Z

Well done on your first entry! I liked the surprising perspective shift in-game, and the concept for the theme was well done. I always struggle with getting sound effects in too - I try to prioritise doing them a little earlier nowadays as a result.

I hope youtake part in LD40!
