Wow, You make this 3d in 48h? Great job! Nice idea of concept :De

This is my compo game: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/38/space-honey-the-adventure-of-little-bee

huvaakoodia 2017-04-29 17:04

Those bug-eyed villagers will haunt my dreams tonight...

Right-o, the intro is mighty impressive. All it needs is some audio really. Unfortunately the things you end up doing are veeeery mundane: walk, pick up a thing, walk some more, drop the thing, repeat 3X...

The setup called for a charming adventure, but its not there yet. The change of scale is interesting, but underused. Going inside the computer was somewhat funny on its own right. More inventive use of smallness, please?

jk5000 2017-04-29 18:56

The idea for this game is good, but 48 hours to make this game, was clearly not enough. The best part of the game, was the cute green men.

vladik-plays 2017-04-30 14:13

Thanks everyone for playing my game!

@huvaakoodia, I made the actual gameplay in the final 4 hours of the compo as I wasted most of my time on visuals. I agree: totally not the best of what I could've done :) Thanks anyway.. BTW, where is your game, @huvaakoodia ?

kinjin 2017-04-30 15:00

Hyped up by the intro.

I would have liked to play the first scene in the nice forest.

The door is inverted in the computer, very strange like in a dream.

The villagers have very peaceful faces.

jk5000 2017-05-01 08:58

I have now also rated your game.

makenai 2017-05-01 20:33

Heads up that this game might not play correctly if you have an ad blocker. Nice premise and story! The gameplay could be a little bit smoother. I hope you continue working on this as it looks like it could be a lot of fun with a bit more polish!

ruthiepee 2017-05-02 02:03

Very ambitious for a 48 hour game. The opening cutscene was really marvelous, you really get a sense of these tiny fixers and their small world. The slow move speed in the big world is pretty frustrating though, that would be the one change I would make. I thought for a game jam the scope was pretty good and I don't mind the simple puzzle ending. I hope you had fun and/or learned something new and I hope you hang on to this game idea and elaborate on it some day!

dick-claus 2017-05-05 18:01

Cool game. You did a lot of modeling. Amazing job. Also the collision did work as well.

I was so happy that I've found that you can run with SHIFT. Saved a lot of time to finish the game quickly.

Funny that HDMI block was fixing the computer.

P.S. Was amused with view from eyes. With actual eyes visible :joy:

gamechoy 2017-05-05 20:07

It's a great idea, however I believe it needed more time. It looks like you spent a lot of time on the cut scenes and ran out of time for making the game. The opening village looks great, but the room lacks detail. It would be great to see a post-jam version, since the idea you have is their. All it needs is a little more content. Nice work though.

those-30-ninjas 2017-05-05 20:39

The opening cutscene clearly took a lot of work to make and it shows. The gameplay part certainly needed more time to come together but that's ok. You had big vision and you clearly gave it your best shot. I'm sure you learned a lot working on this and that's the whole point of jams right? Please keep making games.

vladik-plays 2017-05-05 20:54

Thank you so much for playing everyone!!! You guys are amazing. I have just been working hard on fixing the really irritating bug in the game for 1.5 hours! There are still many bugs and features to be added on my TODO list...

@dick-claus, I was really running out of ideas and was really tired so I went with HDMI. I should've done a RAM instead :D

@gamechoy, yes, I really didn't have time to finish the content as I wasted too much time on the modelling.

@those-30-ninjas, yes, thank you so much! I did try to get as much as I could from my idea but wasn't able to, something I learned this time. I am planning on actually continuing the game and making much more out of it but I'm just too busy with other everyday things. :)

faemir 2017-05-05 20:59

While it's fair to say that scope for this was perhaps not doable inside the space of a jam, the amount of modelling and effort put into the rather fantastic intro cutscene is really impressive, and paints the beginning of what would be a fun concept and gameplay structure. Exploring the human world as a tiny person is an idea that has been explored in the past but is always fun and novel every time, so props for the theme implementation. It would be great to see this as a longer-term project.

I can't decide whether the people are cute or terrifying (dependent on how long you stare at them for)

simonhutchinson 2017-05-05 22:45

Neat. I LOVE the camerawork in the opening. So much so that I was a little disappointed when it went into first-person mode.

I got a bit bored following the team (I figured out I didn't have to a little late).

Keep up the great work with the camera!

notiiivan 2017-05-06 02:35

Please keep making games! That opening cutscene was really impressive, and the forest where the tiny people lived looked honestly fantastic. I was a lil bit disappointing that I didn't get to play around in the forest, as the big room was less magical. But you really know how to set the atmosphere, and I still found the sense of smallness quite charming in the big room!

Very nice intro cinematic that built up the story in a intriguing way. It was also a very cool concept and implementation of the theme. Reminded me a little bit of Toy Story! :) The problem I had was that the walking distances were too long, which made it a bit tedious to play. Other than that I think it was good!

wolar 2017-05-06 13:55

I loved the models, all of them in 48 hours?! Great job! Also the cutscene was great, I missed some audio / voiceover but that understandable in limited time like this. What was a little bit irritating were those longe walk distances in the game itself which took quite a long time to walk without anything to do. As someone have already stated, I also loved the village in the wood in the intro a wished I can play there, the art of that forrest was amazing.

entity 2017-05-06 23:55

Very clever concept! Unfortunately as many others have noted perhaps the scope was perhaps a little bit hard to wrangle in 48 hours, but I commend you on what you achieved in that time frame! Perhaps it would be cute if the little people could drive toy cars across the room! Would be curious to see this project in a more polished state, none the less, awesome work~

tommyflower 2017-05-08 09:47

Loved this game!! It was fun to play! I appreciated the story sequence at the beginning. Story is important! The world is cute, the mission intriguing. Even if the step sound wasn't probably the best one, it played a crucial part in giving you feedback, making the movement more pleasant. The controls are among the best tweaked and usable I've found in a 3D game here. It was just a bit strange holding more objects at the same time. Great Job!!

nightshadow0 2017-05-08 12:07

Your concept was very ambitious, the cutscenes are much longer and slower than they needed to be, and the mission itself has a big world filled with mostly nothing which makes it dull to traverse as well. I'd suggest streamlining the story and having either smaller levels or more easter eggs and things you can interact with, perhaps the NPCs could go off in different directions to populate the map a little more. Good effort!

la-mecanique-du-plastique 2017-05-09 15:34

Good job on your game. Like you said, it lacks a little bit of gameplay the way it is, but I know what it is in such a limited time : P Bravo !

howardcs 2017-05-09 17:16

It's pretty amazing the amount of work you finished in 48 hours. It could be improved with some puzzles beyond finding the parts. Otherwise an excellent entry.

mwcz 2017-05-11 01:18

That was fun! I liked how the computer parts went together! Awesome graphics! I want to find more pieces and would have kept playing but it crashed. Great job!

husky 2017-05-12 04:09

It's literally a small world and a nice idea! I have some troubles to find where's the HDMI, I'm so tiny lol, but it's alright, fits the theme very well. Good job :D

levidsmith 2017-05-13 08:41

Nice little game. Could have used some music. Seems like it took forever to get around, even when I held shift to run. Maybe some of the time spent on the opening story could have been devoted towards adding other gameplay mechanics.

vodzik 2017-05-13 11:05

Nice graphics and cutscenes!

I found that player can jump from the world near door :P

frodewin 2017-05-14 21:06

I tried to play it online on GameJolt, but the loading screen (the one from game jolt) did never end. The opening scene is fantastic, not only the garphics but also the camera path. I was expecting some music there, would be even more awesome! The gameplay itself was a bit simplistic. The walking sound could be damped a bit.

2017-06-07 20:28

Cute story. I included it in my Ludum Dare 38 compilation video series, if you’d like to take a look :) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jMCwacAGwrA
