LD38 — A Small World

Tub of War by quill18 2017-05-05T02:57:25Z

Ridiculous amount of polish for a Ludum Dare game, holy crap. The models are great, the gameplay is fun and well-designed, and I didn't run into a single bug. Even the SFX don't sound out of place, because the game is so light-hearted and silly!

Global Disaster by Jamesy012 2017-05-03T00:38:22Z

Woah, this game is intense! My best was 175s. The main mechanic was really refined, and you pulled it off fantastically. One of my favorite things that happened was when I had one guy left alive, and two meteors were about to crash right into him... but they both hit each other, saving his life!

My only real gripes was that it was sometimes hard to push the clouds away, and also the non-rounded shape of the planet sometimes made the volcanoes look really goofy.

Pity About Earth... by mwcz 2017-05-12T02:51:58Z

That was super fun! One of the best LD38 entries I've played yet! Not necessarily an original idea, but done to absolute perfection down to the sound effects, music, graphics, and the suuuuper satisfying gameplay. The missiles were a bit lame, but bouncing asteroids away from Earth was intense and ridiculously fun.

Please make more games!

Recoil Assault by Banana Man 2017-05-05T02:38:44Z

Woah, this is a really original gameplay mechanic! I've never played anything before that had me weigh if shooting at an enemy would throw me off a cliff. That being said, it was a little frustrating that it took so many shots to kill one guy :P

Overall though, this was really cool, and I enjoyed it a lot. :)

Fixville by vladik-plays 2017-05-06T02:35:45Z

Please keep making games! That opening cutscene was really impressive, and the forest where the tiny people lived looked honestly fantastic. I was a lil bit disappointing that I didn't get to play around in the forest, as the big room was less magical. But you really know how to set the atmosphere, and I still found the sense of smallness quite charming in the big room!

Godspeed Mankind by cvetk0 2017-05-03T00:49:37Z

The presentation was really good, and the game mechanics were easy to grasp. I was left kind of hoping that the (three?) different sets of each structure were differently coloured or otherwise marked, because I got pretty confused as to where I was on the globe. But overall, I enjoyed it. :)

It's A Small System by notiiivan 2017-04-24T23:23:42Z

Thanks! ...sorry you fell over, heh. That kinda breaks the game. Physics are hard, so I decided to slap a reset button on there. Idk if patches are allowed though even though judging hasn't started yet, so I'm going to keep the original on itch, too.

Inside the Blockhead by Photon 2017-05-03T02:31:21Z

The control scheme was really original, it was really cool to be controlling the world more so than the player. It was, however, a little bit infuriating to use, but I think that's intentional challenge and I just suck :P. I really liked the color wheel mechanics, the fact that it was a wheel instead of a hotkey meant I had to manage movement and spinning the wheel around to the correct color.

I couldn't beat it, unfortunately, because at the end there was a bit with a lot of spikes and toggle-able blocks, and it was HARD. But hard isn't a bad thing, and getting to each checkpoint was super satisfying.

Really fun! I especially loved the music, and the explosion effects.

Libre by DiegoCTorguet 2017-05-03T23:24:36Z

Super ambitious! I loved the graphics, atmosphere, and the added layer of acting which I don't think any other entry has. It's also super impressive that you did this progress in two languages.

After a few levels, the puzzles got a bit dull which was unfortunate. But I still played to the end, and it was interesting. Gameplay-wise, I wish there was a little animation when I moved the tiles, but most other people have said that already. The mood really makes this game, and it definitely paid off.

Woah, the fact that this was only your second Ludum Dare increases my respect for you tenfold. The presentation is so polished for a single weekend, that I thought you must have had so much more LD experience. Fantastic job, dude!

Rise of the Termites by Togis 2017-05-01T04:00:39Z

Really cool, lots of polish! I couldn't beat the first level though, because you can't demolish buildings and I didn't realize only workers counted as population. But all of that's already addressed here, and the game is really good!

Exploroka by krunoslav 2017-05-05T02:50:53Z

The world generation is super cool. It was really fun to explore and look around in, and the 2D trees didn't even bother me, I thought it fit the aesthetic. It got a little dull quite fast though, which might have been better if I could pick up/hoard allllll the diamonds and dole them out to houses as I please. Very ambitious infinite world, and really impressive.

Terra by TheShrug 2017-05-01T04:41:31Z

I loved the atmosphere and the graphics! The ending was really nice, as well. It's refreshing to see a game with a story amongst a bunch of arcade games!

Really fun, and the presentation/graphics were fantastic. The sprites reminded me of Downwell, which I love.

LD39 — Running out of Power

Power Vacuum by notiiivan 2017-07-31T20:33:39Z

Both legitimate complaints. I didn't budget my time well enough to make something complete, so I released a kind of lame game with tacked-on gameplay. What I really should have done was start off by creating an actually *fun* gameplay prototype, and built things off of it -- but I spent a lot more time just trying to complete what I had written down in the first five minutes, which led to an unfun mess of random gameplay components.

Nevertheless, it was a very enjoyable experience to just sit down for the weekend and just make a game. Thanks so much for playing it giving me your two cents, can't wait for the next Ludum Dare where I'll try to do a lot better.

RulesQuest by Adrien Dittrick 2017-07-31T20:50:49Z

Fun game! My only issues with it were that dragging powerups to your base was so frustratingly slow that I never really did it after the first few, and that the last king was, for whatever reason, really difficult to track down.

I liked the auto-attacking, which really streamlined the intentionally grindy fighting, and made it feel a lot better (and even kinda satisfying) as opposed to spam-clicking. It's also bonkers to me that you got procedural generation done so well in 48 hours, and overall the game was short and fun. Well done!
