LD35 — Shapeshift

Square Off - 1v1 Multiplayer by TeamScripta 2016-04-20T02:33:00

We're all Jareds! Haha, no, Jared is just on the game all day to be sure there's always someone for everyone to play with.

The game is semi-playable on phones. Lots of rough edges but it might work for anyone wanting to play on their phone.

Square Off - 1v1 Multiplayer by TeamScripta 2016-04-20T13:11:00

gg! Sorrry I've been playing this way too much :]

LD38 — A Small World

The Village by Gipzo 2017-05-10T22:21:56Z

Very nice! Really impressive all-around polish. Great music, great art, fun gameplay. Throwing gold at people was fun. My only critique is that sometimes meteors left craters in the top-right road, behind the mountains, so I couldn't tell if I was repairing them correctly. For some reason the aggressive villages only ever attacked my tavern. Really fun to play!

Game Prototype by zwrawr 2017-05-10T22:07:43Z

You can feel the tension as the alien horde encloses around the planet, and you know you can't save it. I made it to just a hair under 2 minutes. There's a lot of potential here in sound effects, new enemy types, waves, powerups.

Signal? by voxel 2017-05-10T00:59:27Z

It was so great. I really liked the rewind feature, please make more!

Slime Assault by Bumblepie 2017-05-10T01:53:55Z

Gotta give you props for attempting a multiplayer game for LD, I know from experience how hard that can be! Liked the art and the music. My only suggestion is to package it with something other than 7z.

Enlarge your planet ! by LeReveur 2017-05-11T01:07:36Z

i love this game, but I couldn't figure out how to win. Nice Job!

Endless Hexagon by David Cookie 2017-05-11T02:21:20Z

This is a lovely game! I love the calm music and the puzzle aspect of it. I like the art on the tiles and the overall design. Excellent!

Cosmic Chaos Crunch by MrTroy 2017-05-11T01:17:53Z

This was a nice game, I really like the intro cut scene, it was hilarious! The idea for the game is nice. The graphics could be a little better, but I know 3d is hard.

Wrong Delivery by g12345 2017-05-05T19:12:28Z

I have to agree with the other comments, the level design is great! I loved how each ability had a level feature nearby that fit the ability perfectly, like the wide gap for the air dash. Very cool too how you showed the package early on but without the abilities yet to reach it.

Music and sfx would have been great additions, but I understand the time constraints all too well! I'm impressed you were able to fit in so many abilities. Every time I try to add abilities to games, they take so much time to implement and tweak that I can only fit in one or two out of ten.

The controls were very responsive as well. And of course the abilities were a lot of fun to play with. I found myself really looking forward to the next ability.

Abyss by srakowski 2017-05-11T01:36:04Z

I had no problem downloading and playing from the github releases page. I'm a huge fan of 4X games and this reminded of me a lot so I naturally liked it!

Star Traveller by SecondDimension 2017-05-18T20:56:20Z

VERY nice art and music! I feel so relaxed... Excellent entry!

420 Planets by Kakureta 2017-05-11T02:09:57Z

Man this was a chill game! It was very relaxing and fun to play. I really like the riddles. Sometimes jumping on the platforms was hard, but maybe that's intentional. Happy 420!

Mediator by randomhuman 2017-05-10T02:35:42Z

I LOVED the pixel graphics! I love the attention to detail on the ship, like the animated panel on the wall. It reminded me a lot of Monkey Island but in space!

(Un)Happy by pcmaster 2017-05-05T16:50:47Z

I love it! Like other reviewers said, it's very approachable and easy to figure out the rules. I was very careful to land my rocket upright on the planets, assuming that doing otherwise would be a crash landing. Turns out the game was more lenient than that, but it was fun driving the ship like that! Really amazing polish for 10 hours, wow. I had fun, thanks for making this!

Planet Domination by Sir Magic 2017-05-11T00:58:35Z

graphics are great. i love how competitive it is

The Last Haven by Tommyno222 2017-05-05T16:13:10Z

Really cool and fast-paced gameplay. I can imagine a killer 1v1 or team deathmatch/ctf game with this setup. The jetpack was great! I also really appreciated the wraparound if you fall off the level. The difficulty felt just right too, I destroyed all the boxes just seconds before dying. Although maybe there's a way to win and I just wasn't good enough to find it. Nice job!

A View from Above by OfficialCodeNMore 2017-05-11T00:59:34Z

Hilarious, and easy fun! Left me laughing both times I played!

Vegicide by Reactor-Scram 2017-05-10T16:53:43Z

This game is funny! Those poor veggies! :D

Run, U Fool! by zgragselus 2017-05-10T16:36:10Z

The color force field mechanic was interesting. Graphics were kind of blurry but probably because I was using the WebGL version.

OLDDOG by wischutz 2017-05-11T02:34:29Z

Very creative graphical effects such as the warping effect! Great job on the music and coding!

Pity About Earth... by mwcz 2017-04-25T17:32:48Z

Thanks! The missiles (left click) are the intended solution to take out isolated asteroids/comets. Fire one at the isolated asteroid, then use your barrier to deflect the stream. But yeah... inevitability. :)

Pity About Earth... by mwcz 2017-05-06T18:09:00Z

@jason-kennedy The rockets you mention are shuttles ferrying people off the planet (it's described on the opening screen).

For dealing with asteroids coming from multiple sides, both missiles and quick reflexes are key! In the end, this is an arcade-style, hi-score, survival mode game, so the goal isn't to win, it's just to do better than everyone else. ;)

Pity About Earth... by mwcz 2017-05-09T17:47:35Z

@richard-michael-smith Thanks a ton! We are so thrilled that Veuskemini joined us for LD38, he really blew me away. His other albums (also on bandcamp) are great too.

Pity About Earth... by mwcz 2017-05-22T22:39:08Z

@timeracers congratz! That's definitely the best post jam score I've seen! You really have to be in the zone to get that high!

Pity About Earth... by mwcz 2017-05-26T11:55:25Z

@timeracers nice job! I updated the post. It was the post-jam version both times; the jam version has a portrait viewport. We're making frequent changes to the post jam version!

Battle Ham' by BouDeSit 2017-05-14T04:03:04Z

Hey fellow Phaser developer! So happy to see another phaser entry in this LD! Fun little strategy game! I was able to get to the "Win" screen after a couple of tries. I like it!

Planet04 by geck0 2017-05-10T01:32:00Z

good job I liked how challenging the game was.

Hi Pluto! by nekoballs 2017-05-10T16:34:33Z

Hello! I really like your timelaps of you creating the game that's pretty cool, and shows how much work went into making this game. I found the controls hard to figure out and didn't get very far. Good humor though poor pluto!

Protoware Planet by josefalanga 2017-05-09T20:26:30Z

Great mood and music! I really love the look of the graphics, it feels like I'm inside a computer. The game is a lot of fun too! Only suggestion I could make is a better effect when you destroy an enemy.

Shapeshifter: The King of A Small World by Rixud 2017-05-05T16:01:40Z

I got such a big smile on my face when I first transformed into an ant to sneak under the rock. Later on I nearly wall-walked over top of the wind, but right at the end the wind caught me and blew me off the map! Maybe it was sweet revenge against me for trying to break the game. :) I'm really curious about how you built the levels. I had fun playing!

Gnome Digger by bobsleigh 2017-05-11T01:47:56Z

Oh man I REALLY enjoyed this game! I think the music and sound FX fit perfectly with the graphics and game. So much fun I could keep playing this for a long time!

Unnamed Space Project by Devastus 2017-05-10T00:28:41Z

GOOD GRAPHICS! Easy to move around! Overall pretty cool game!

It's a Small World, So Let's Crash It into Things by simonhutchinson 2017-05-10T01:31:02Z

I love the scary dark star voice, very creative audio! It felt very good to destroy the dark star. I like the particle effects when you destroy things. Nice job!

Caelium Alpha by jishenaz 2017-05-10T00:30:57Z

great game! I loved that you can as many planets as you want!

CHEM TRIALS by Hegemege 2017-05-10T16:27:00Z

Enjoyed the overall mechanic, especially that the missiles just keep going around until they hit something. Would've like better sound.

Satellite Bash by Elemental Zeal Game Studios 2017-05-11T01:14:32Z

I really like the idea for this game! The controls felt nice, and the graphics were simple and smooth. I loved it! :D

Fixville by vladik-plays 2017-05-11T01:18:40Z

That was fun! I liked how the computer parts went together! Awesome graphics! I want to find more pieces and would have kept playing but it crashed. Great job!

SPAAAAAACE. by Kano 2017-05-09T20:19:19Z

Haha! I love the text at the end, gave me a genuine chuckle :D

The Microns by Rodrigo Denúbila 2017-05-11T01:17:43Z

Amazing innovative game!! The only frustrating thing was the red dude would not place his fuel in the ovens in webgl. The other two guys worked fine.

Hot Day by oab 2017-05-10T01:00:49Z

I like that game is easy to understand just move the mouse! Cute pixel graphics, and good music!

Scaleshifter by loveapplegames 2017-05-05T19:21:49Z

This was pretty cool! The size change was the highlight of the game for me. Very cool.

I agree with @mrnyarlathotep about a non-photorealistic background being a good fit. The missiles seemed to be positions in camera space instead of world space, so they would follow the camera as I moved around. The difficulty seemed tuned well, it was quite a challenge but didn't seem unbeatable. Well, I am using a touchpad at the moment, and I couldn't beat the game, but with a mouse I'm sure it would be perfect.

Wee Planet by radmccool 2017-05-10T16:46:12Z

Pretty fun, very much like or game :)

Zen Demiurgy by mortus 2017-05-09T16:55:22Z

I really enjoyed this game! I spent a little too much time playing it during my lunch break. :) It's very relaxing, but also engaging. I don't have any novel critiques, the only thing that bothered me was the sometimes very long wait for scouts to find crates. The small birds were such a nice touch! Little flourishes like the birds hardly ever make it into LD games. Nice work!

Inner World by negativice 2017-05-18T21:16:44Z

Very funny, especially when the Game Over screen popped up. I didn't mind at all that it was short. It was a funny disruption of expectations for the game to end so quickly. The inverted world was extremely cool and was the main reason I clicked on the thumbnail.

Don't Make Me Stop This Car! by UncleChris 2017-05-11T01:24:39Z

Hooray! I WON! The music was toooo much for me. Fun to play!

Aim for the Star by NightShadow0 2017-05-09T20:42:07Z

I think this games greatest strength is Fun. I really thing the progressive levels of difficulty make this game fun. Nice job!

House 0.1.0(top down shooter) by thelonelynug 2017-05-09T17:08:29Z

It reminded me of one of my favorite old Amiga games, [Rambo III](http://www.lemonamiga.com/?game_id=1464). The bugs already mentioned made it kind of hard to play, but I can appreciate the challenge. I hope you enjoyed your first LD and see you at LD39!

It's a Small World by NedMakesGames 2017-05-10T01:44:29Z

Great music! Very innovative controls with all the combo moves. Overall really liked it!

Arindama by Daniel Moreno 2017-05-10T00:46:07Z

OMG I love the Pixel graphics!! The music was great too! This game gives me a warm fuzzy feeling, great mood! The only critizism I have is that the controls aren't very intuitive, I kept wanting to use the mouse for crafting, but maybe that's because I'm use to minecraft.

Bamboo Life by candlesan 2017-05-05T16:34:59Z

Really nice job on this! I kept thinking "okay, time to go write the review", then going back to the game because it was so fun! The most impressive thing to me was how the game mechanics all worked together so well. I don't know you managed to tune them all so well in such a short time. This isn't a genre I'm usually drawn to, but I had a great time playing!

It's A Small System by notiiivan 2017-05-10T01:08:09Z

I loved cheering up Venus! Very innovative design! I like the planet hopping mechanic. The only suggestion I have is that when I was about to give the flower to venus I got picked up by mercury and had to go back. maybe put the characters a little bit out of range of the pickup zone.

Alone by mhaton 2017-05-10T23:14:27Z

The black and white graphics have a very cool mysterous feel.

Escape from Sytlanta by Gundatsch 2017-05-10T21:34:22Z

This game is fun! Your team did an excellent job on everything, models, music, design, and art. And it's fun to play!

WRAP by lightblub 2017-05-18T21:10:53Z

Very, very nice! Great job, especially as a first LD entry. I love the tiny levels, simple but attractive gfx, and the high polish. As for feedback, I found one spike that didn't kill me, but that was actually pretty cool. Only one thing bugged me, and that was that dying and winning a level had the same sound effect and particle burst. A more cheery tune for completing a level would be nice. A couple of times I wasn't sure if I'd died or won! Overall, extremely good and solid, great fit for the theme, high marks all around!

RSV Resourcer by Brandon Diaz 2017-05-11T01:02:58Z

Cool premise, with the added intensity of keeping human subjects alive. Wished, as others above, for perhaps a heads-up view, and real-time +/- usage of the resources. The AI is hilarious, and your graphics are SO cool. I do hope you keep working on this one - so much promise here.

Mind The Gap (First Ludum Dare) by Izunah 2017-05-05T16:41:30Z

It took me a little while to get used to the controls. It was difficult to play with a touchpad (I'm traveling w/ no mouse), but I won't hold that against you! Once I got the hang of it, I had fun. I like the balance you struck between the two sides. Pulling enemies to you, or you to them, based on how crowded things are. It's a nice strategic balance.

The Space Explorer by UnidayStudio 2017-05-11T22:49:44Z

I watched your timelapse and I was so cool to see how you created all models and textures by scratch yourself. This game is VERY creative literally. You made me want to learn blender!

Tiny Planet by Tiny Planet Studios 2017-05-10T00:54:18Z

Man that music is great for a compo entry! You definitely have some awesome musical talent!

The Last Game Designer by starvingindie 2017-05-09T20:36:22Z

The thing I like best about this game is you show that you don't have to use a game engine to create fun and interesting games! I really like that you spent the time to create a true discision tree that is great attention to detial. Also your writing is great!

Kanjo by Kataware 2017-05-10T01:59:36Z

Hello! Wow I'm very impressed with your soundtrack! It's amazing to me that one person could create a game and compose and perform original music in a single weekend!

Globe Guzzler by Eli Delventhal 2017-05-10T16:41:33Z

This is a great compo entry! I'm very impressed that you got the full package done in 48 hours amazing! The game was fun and funny and had great SFX.

Crater Creator by navot 2017-05-05T17:51:33Z

Awesome job! I love the mechanics, the colored trajectories especially are an awesome innovation. In one sense it's the total opposite of my LD38 game! I have no real critical feedback. The only (maybe?) glitch I saw was that after reaching the required mass/atmosphere/water, the evaluate planet button still said 0%. But that didn't hamper the fun I was having smashing stuff into the planet. It's definitely a game of finesse and I loved it. Thanks, I had a blast playing!

Globe Trot by Richard Michael Smith 2017-05-10T01:16:18Z

@richard-michael-smith Wow that was an incredible entry! The game play, graphics and sound were all excellent, but most importantly it was FUN! While I was playing I couldn't stop thinking about how much fun this would be as a Multiplayer game. Are you on twitter?

Trienne's Trial by ltpats 2017-05-10T00:42:45Z

i liked the almost 3-D effects

Naziverse by furazin 2017-05-10T02:11:30Z

Man those Nazis are mean! It took me a while to get past the first barrel lol! Very challenging game. I love the humor and the music. Only one suggestion, I think you should turn down the difficulty at first then ramp it up as you progress.

Small Tactics by JanGamesDev 2017-05-10T01:21:32Z

Interesting game to play. More detailed instructions would be helpful. good design!

Spabullare by Chuck Zelvis 2017-05-18T21:39:47Z

I really enjoyed this. It was easy to look past the missing audio and simple graphics and see the really fun skill game. You should be proud of this. The upgrades were great! The difficulty curve felt just right to me. I'm actually sad that I have to stop playing now (level 8) and go home!

Flat World by rpmoura 2017-05-05T17:19:37Z

I got a kick out of seeing the art up-close after the zoom-in at the end of a match. I figured they were small sprites, but after the zoom-in I could see a lot of detail. Was the art made with a vector tool? Inkscape/illustrator? It has that very crisp, clean look. The gameplay reminded me a little of Tricky Towers, which is a huge compliment. If there was one thing I would ask for, it would be to speed up the gameplay a little. Regardless, I had fun, nicely done!

RASHLANDER by ryguydavis 2017-05-09T21:08:53Z

I LOVE this game! I have a huge soft spot for brutal but fluid arcade games, and this fits perfectly. You can probably see the same DNA in my entry.

Love: the shaders, the difficulty, the level palette changes (very nostalgic somehow), the mechanics. I also love the shadows and the floating debris, those are shocking flourishes for a compo entry.

Uncertain: I'm on the fence about the gravitation. The game might be difficult enough without the subtle gravitation removing some of the players' control. That said, it does feel cool

Wishes: I wish that the spawn points had a guaranteed distance from obstacles. Sometimes I have spawned within pixels of an obstacle and was essentially instagibbed. I also wish there was music, to which you say "LOL @mwcz do you even compo?" and then I slink away.

I will definitely be coming back to this one periodically to try to beat it.

(btw, on the game's page, the <title> is "New project")

R.U.D.I. by SpaceWizardJ 2017-05-11T01:09:55Z

I really like the graphics for this game! It took me a while to figure out how to play, but once I did it was very fun. overall a great game.

MiniPolis by korvyashka 2017-05-11T00:52:02Z

This is so cool! Figuring out that the game needed items taken and replaced took one life, but after that, it was easy to play. Agree with the others that the game gets really hard when the requirements double. A really cool take on the theme, and a nice entry for a time management genre.

Fat Rat by GameAttack 2017-05-11T01:06:41Z

Love the old-school arcade music, it is 60+/- seconds of pure spacebar-slamming fun. AND if he gets slimmer, I must be getting slimmer, too. *wipe sweat*

LD39 — Running out of Power

In Orange Light by mwcz 2017-08-02T19:27:53Z

Thanks everyone for all the comments so far! So much good feedback, and I agree with all of it. This was a totally new style of game for me and I learned a lot in the process. Can't wait to play more games!

The Last Cup Of Coffee by jin47 2017-07-31T17:23:52Z

Nice work! The open areas were great, but in the tighter rooms the camera kept clipping the wall, making it really hard to see. Mmm, coffee...

The Defective One by gagapete 2017-07-31T17:03:37Z

I love the art! It's clear, whimsical, and very nice to look at. Like other reviews have commented, the movement speed was quite slow. I wouldn't mind the slow movement speed if it weren't for the reset upon death. It's quite a setback! The energy draining was fun, and I loved the sound effect when you drain a drone to zero. Nice work!

Oh no! Democracy! by Tim Eriksen 2017-07-31T16:43:06Z

I like it! Very cool take on the theme. I found the game a little too easy, but the gameplay was fun (I love card games). I love the way the protesters literally rise up as the rocket progresses.

LD50 — Delay the inevitable

Shades of Deception by AMastryukov 2022-04-10T01:17:02Z

Things that are rare in weekend-long jams: storylines & voice acting. Plus, the art style is very cool, and matches the noire atmosphere really well. I also really enjoyed the references, like "Ludum Ave" and especially, wake up and smell the aaa-shes.

The 13th Colony by kristinamay 2022-04-05T15:55:57Z

It's nice to see another Phaser game! I'm sincerely impressed at how many mechanics you fit into the game, and the polish on top of that is really excellent.

The only problem I had was not being able to reach some resources because they spawned in an inaccessible area of the map. I'll try out the wall clip @ruruie mentioned. :)

Beavers Inc. by ditam 2022-04-07T14:55:43Z

Fun, great aesthetic, the music and art work really well together. I enjoyed it!

I also appreciate the choice of tech. I checked the repo to find out what engine you used, and to my surprise found "only" jQuery! The coolest part of that, is that nothing about playing the game "gave away" that it was DOM-based. Very nicely done! Maybe "engineless" will become a new buzzword, after "serverless".

Somnokid by Saturnyoshi 2022-04-07T16:31:21Z

Outstanding!

Hearts Ablaze by Jon Topielski 2022-04-07T16:25:26Z

This is nothing short of excellent for a jam game. Solid all around, and REALLY fun!
