Pretty good game and has some humor in it! Although the gameplay and challenge are lacking.

I like it! Very cool take on the theme. I found the game a little too easy, but the gameplay was fun (I love card games). I love the way the protesters literally rise up as the rocket progresses.
I really like the concept! However I feel like audio of some sort would have enhanced the experience a ton. The graphics were really nice and overall it was a great game!
Very nice game! I included it in my Ludum Dare 39 compilation video series, if you’d like to take a look :) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Qv2KH3BQm4
Man I was so close! I had one point left in Propulsion and then the damn democracy ran me over. Very cool game. Felt like a mobile game I played that was set in the middle ages.
I liked the concept of the collectible/special cards, wish I would have gotten more of them!
This game is cool and great use for the theme ! Liked a lot.
The idea is pretty golden and I liked the humor :D
It took me two tries to finish, but the second time was much easier as I started to understand how the game works and which cards I should be picking.
Awesome game! took me two tries to get the hang of it but then I couldn't stop playing it until I beat it B-)
Congrats man, very innovative! :D
Funny concept, not much strategy once you realize you should always pick the highest ratio of rocket parts to people being pissed. Fun enough for what it is though.
Great humor in this game. Good scope for 48 hours, well explained, easy to pick up.
I'll second the request for audio. And to add flavor, perhaps a feed of newspaper headlines to help you feel the democratic pressure?
Decent, though mostly dictated by rng and choice was usually to take the least unrestful card. Good idea though, I could definitely see this developing into more of a game with a bit more brainstorming. Amusing setting and enjoyable to play around with.
I love this!
- Game seemed balanced - Great take on the theme - Good pixel-art style - I like how the protestors slowly move up the screen as unrest grows - Funny card descriptions
- Some sound would be nice
Awesome idea, great use of the theme! Took me two tries to beat it and even then only just barely, though the strategy becomes kind of obvious if you think about the cards. I love how you literally "run out of power" as the game progresses. Nice pixel graphics and great visual feedback as the crowd rises up against you. Also, really funny descriptions. Some basic sound effects and a background track would've improved the mood though.
Neat, love the theme! I was able to launch my rocket with 69% unrest accumulated. I liked the style quite a lot. Choices weren't particularly interesting, usually just "what card has the best ratio". Perhaps if drawing an action card caused some unrest, and there was always 1 action card available, it would often lead to more deliberation on "that's a good card, but is it worth that unrest or giving up this other card?"
Wow, great game! It was so well balanced, the perfect length of gameplay, and good graphics.
Great use of the theme and I love your art style! Also I enjoy reading the contents of the cards! It's hilarious! I make it on 84%, That made me nervous because most of the cards appear on late game cost lots of unrest:joy:
I really enjoyed playing this! When I've played card games in previous Ludum Dares, they are often quite confusing and don't work as you expect, but this was spot on. All of the interactions made sense and every interaction behaved exactly as I expected, which is a great achievement for a game jam.
The card were also funny, and being able to hold 3 special cards made things more interesting. I felt like the unrest numbers were higher towards the late game, which worked well. Overall an excellent entry
Thank you for the game. This was an interesting take on the theme. I think it was more of a running out of time rather than power but the game was fun none-the-less. It took a little while to understand the cards (number on the card is how much that area of research increases, number in corner is how much unrest it generates). I succeeded on my second try through, which is a testament to how intuitive the game is. Graphics were very well done, although it was a little hard to read the research areas on the rocket. It would be interesting to have some benefit for having a higher score in certain research areas, since you can (and do) end up with more than 10 points in some of them. Maybe you can get your rocket working but then it may or may not get you into space, depending on how much research you have. Anyway, thanks for the game. It was fun and well done.
Mine is up if you want to check it out, just be sure to rate the game based on the LD link THEN go play the evolution version. I've made quite a few improvements.
Cheers!
Good game! I like the concept of political/social power, we did something similar with my team, it even plays like your game haha.
I really liked the simplicity in the design, easy to understand but demands your concentration to beat the game. I liked the silly sentences like "Hospital or whatever..." haha. Also, it was cool to see how the people gets closer to you when the public unrest gets higher.
My two suggestions for the game would be to put some sound effects and music, and to create a win/lose screen to be a more satisfactory game.
Great game! Congratulations!!
Kinda of a different take on the theme, than most people used, and really nice execution! Managing public unrest, while building the rocket was challenging and fun! Great work on the graphics too, even though simple, it's well executed and fit the game. Nice touch of humor too! ;)
Missing audio here, to get a nice mood, but nothing that compromises the game! Great job on this entry! Good luck! :)
Interesting game!
The action cards worked really well in giving the player some agency over the randomness of the cards!
Combined with the fact that you have to collect several different resources, this introduced a bit of strategy to the choices, which would otherwise be just to pick the card with the best ratio between resource-gain and unrest each turn.
I liked the art style as well, and the humorous cards (who would have known that an old bucket could be so useful, or that the elderly would enjoy water slides)
Nice game!
>Placate the people, >while assembling the rocket! >"Here, have whatever!"
Well this was unexpected! Oh no! Democracy! was picked as a 2017 favorite jam game over on itch.no! https://itch.io/blog/17499/our-favorite-jam-games-of-2017
