LD32 — An Unconventional Weapon

An Unconventional Weapon by Mathias Olsson 2015-04-25T19:56:00

The logic is infallible in the description! Nice work on the road-illusion. Reminded me of outrun!

Cough cough :D

Goodie Bag by lbrande 2015-04-20T07:20:00

Really hard to make catches because of the bounciness. Maybe you could make only the bottom of the bag bouncy, but the mouth would stay put (and move faster)?

Natures Revenge by barkergames 2015-04-20T06:06:00

I really like the idea! The texture right at the bottom is maybe blocking the view a bit too much, I didn't notice anything happening at first when I clicked, since the seed/bulb was behind the bushes :)

Alter/Cannon by Ysty 2015-04-20T12:11:00

I couldn't get the cursor to get "trapped" in the web version of the game, so turning was quite difficult at times.

I generally hate mazes, but I really liked the lightbeam concept: It mitigated the fact that the mazes were.. well, mazes and quite featureless. Finding enemies was not a chore because of the lightbeam thing! That's thinking outside the box :D

Also liked the changing weapon, nice work!

Littleboom by Dyn 2015-04-20T10:21:00

I REALLY like the idea! Nice intro too (Explosion sounds are really loud in the intro, though) :)

I think the combination box could use an "empty"-button if you want to throw all the ingredients out of it. Maybe also a box that shows you recipes that you've already found out (and maybe ones that you've found out that don't work). Perhaps the combination box could start with just two slots, so you don't think that you have to fill it up to make a combination :D

A Bard's Song by aaronjbaptiste 2015-04-20T11:04:00

Nice work! I liked that it wasn't a straightforward hack-n-slash, but required some quick decisions to be made while playing.

Flying Carpet by Kalinka 2015-04-20T10:04:00

The game crashed on first try (web version on safari + osx yosemite), but on the second reload I got to play. At first I was wondering that why is the game looking so strange, but it turns out I was flying upside down :D

Should the other powers work (dragged from inventory)? Maybe I was out of mana.

Nice game anyway! I loved Magic carpet back in the day (the reason I tried this entry :) )

War On Torus by uchiro 2015-04-20T06:58:00

Can't start the web entry. It just takes me to a google drive thingy :/

Long Live The Great Leader! by iSamurai 2015-04-20T10:27:00

Didn't really see any brainwashing, but the game was still fun :D

Really liked the superblack walls esthetic, it made the game look almost like it what you can see is calculated with raycasting.

Rare Drop by Artylo 2015-04-20T17:52:00

Nice game, I liked it a lot! Graphics were good, the weapon upgrade frequency was enough to get you hooked :D

Picking up the sword was really difficult for me for some reason, I had to click several times before it was picked up (osx yosemite and safari). I didn't run into it (maybe it's already there), but maybe also add a mechanic that allows the player to move faster when they level up?

ForgeCraft by Stals 2015-04-25T20:33:00

Wow, I'm addicted already. If this was a game on iOS, I would buy it (with just a little bit more variation, levels, spells or something that affects the board). I thought I would lose my nerve trying to keep all the things happening under control, but even though I would lose some orders, the game never infuriated me. Great work!

I'm Only a Ninja! by herniewise 2015-04-25T20:02:00

Really nice animations! Fun idea, not taking itself too seriously. I don't think I've ever run into a game before where the soundtrack is only drums :D

The Best Policy by Empyrealhell 2015-04-20T06:25:00

Some opponents seem to crash the game (at least the politician), but I like the idea.

Fathom by Joe Williamson 2015-04-25T20:13:00

Wow! Plays, looks and sounds fantastic. People usually make this level stuff in months, not days.

Great execution! Only thing I wished for was a camera feature that would focus the camera a bit closer to the cursor, if the cursor was far away from the character.

Sevastopol by GravityScore 2015-04-20T10:10:00

The sound and the filter set up the atmosphere nicely. I also liked that you had a bit of a story to go beside the game. I died a lot because I couldn't click fast enough, which was strange, but I guess that was why I died a lot in Hotline Miami, too.

You Are a Skunk by LTPATS 2015-04-20T06:48:00

Nice work, the perspective made me feel a bit nauseous though, or maybe that was just the odors? :D

Can you do anything to the owls, or do they just maim you?

Love is a Weapon by MdotEdot 2015-04-20T06:40:00

I had no idea how to play this. Can you explain it a little bit?

Isolation by nicklink483 2015-04-20T06:17:00

Wow, surprisingly hard but interesting. Enjoyable!

Infectious by Chemical_Studios 2015-04-20T10:34:00

I liked the game. I did wish for a bit more direct control of the zombies. Not direct-direct, but something like attraction or something. Sometimes humans would wander so far that the zombies could never reach them.

Weaponized Giraffe Simulator by tomdeal 2015-04-20T06:35:00

It's sometimes hard to figure out what the "hitbox" is. Otherwise a fun little game with a very silly idea :D

Time to Panic by Jack31081988 2015-04-20T09:25:00

Otherwise a fun little game, but jumping seems to be a bit off somehow. I often ended up in the midst of zombies and died, because I had to make a jump that I couldn't make with one jump :D

Elementary Puzzles by Joris 2015-04-20T09:52:00

Nice work! I couldn't get the earth power working reliably (couldn't quite understand when it would fire and when it didn't), but I really liked the puzzles, especially the steam thing!

The Legend of the Yo-Yo Salesman by seankimdesign 2015-04-20T06:13:00

The music was great in all its simplicity! It fit the mood perfectly
I too, did wish for a bit faster yo-yo, and also kept clicking outside the game window (which pauses the game). But I also had fun, and was intrigued by the obvious plan for more yo-yos (too bad you didn't have time to make more)

Flail Rider by jushii 2015-04-25T20:42:00

Holy crushing flail on a car, batman! :D

I.. just can't survive a whole minute. Great music, great graphics, tight controls, though!

Oddest Jobs by hunttis 2015-04-21T20:02:00

Thanks for all the kind words, everyone! I could've never imagined that my graphics would be enjoyable :D

It really seems that there's something strange happening when levels load. For the life of me I can't figure it out, but it has to do something with the physics objects not being properly cleared or loaded when the level changes. After it starts bugging, there are physics objects that you can hit your head into, but I can't get the physics bodies to be drawn so I could figure out what they are. The most frustrating thing is, it's really random, if you try again, it'll probably work!

It's my first game with "proper" physics, so even if I was expecting trouble, not really game-breaking trouble. Meh :/

Thanks for playing anyway!

Cat's Heaven by Lyxilion 2015-04-20T07:24:00

The game spoiled me by giving the me triple fire cannon on first wave and the next wave was "useless slow kitty cannon" :D I got pretty badly butchered.

It's a nice little game. I think the graphics could use differentiation in the terms of what's on the background and what's in the foreground (what you need to worry about). Maybe make the background items smaller and/or darker.

Forest Hecate by Jordan 2015-04-20T06:56:00

Could beat the first level and the first boss, but in the second level there are at least fifty volcanoes (maybe it's bugging out somehow? Using OSX Yosemite) so it became really super difficult. Nice and weird idea, took a while to figure out what to do, and I still didn't get the boss fight. Why did my "ammo" go the direction it did :D

Good job on the boss ammo graphics though! :D

Robot Downfall by Johan Blade 2015-04-20T17:43:00

Wow, lots of variety in the enemies! I liked that at one point you had to shoot the enemies in an arc through some obstacles. Game was a bit on the easy side, but probably one of the games I played the longest time!

Kana Konjuror by Hammers 2015-04-20T12:05:00

I like your idea.

I've worked on gamified education and I know it's one of the most effective ways to learn stuff and stay focused. As an adult, one thing I would've liked would be a speed selection, so you could choose how fast the letters come in.

Nice work!

Deadly rain by Sublustris 2015-04-20T09:18:00

Whoa, that was depressing! You got so many things right. The music, the falling ashes. Nice work!

Crazy Farmer by guigrillo13 2015-04-20T17:38:00

Nice work!

I like the pig graphics :D

Sheep Apocalypse by Notchy13 2015-04-20T18:10:00

Nice game for a first one :) It's a huge step to actually finish one. I can tell you, I've been trying for years and this time was the first one for me as well :D

Controls are really confusing :D I think you should just move the character directly with the WASD and then just aim with the mouse.

Senseless murder always wins with me :D

Soundefender by yackeroeni 2015-04-25T19:51:00

Interesting idea. I understood that the thing that's traveling is what triggers each circle. I couldn't quite understand why an enemy dies whenever an enemy died because of my selections :D

I do think, though, that with a tutorial this could really be something! :)

Poop in the Park by thegypsyknight 2015-04-20T09:44:00

Holy poop! I like how the dogs don't even care about walking directly into some poop :D

Skyku by kabutakogames 2015-04-20T09:33:00

Nice idea! Too bad I don't really know english syllable rules, so it was kinda difficult for me :D

For the people experiencing UI problems, use a 16:9 or a 16:10 resolution! If you run with 4:3, then stuff is going to be out of screen (and game will become really hard :D )

Classroom madness by dizshok 2015-04-20T11:15:00

Loved the graphics, great stuff. I couldn't figure out the gameplay however. I seemed to win a lot of the fights, but I wasn't sure why. The fight results looked great too :D

Pay To Win by nicso 2015-04-20T09:38:00

Nice work! I especially liked the atmosphere-fitting music and the parallax scrolling! Took me a while to notice that you can go into other houses than the one in the beginning too!

It seemed that X was the key for me (for throwing money). I'm on OSX Yosemite.

LD33 — You are the Monster

Mega Maria by PEBKAC 2015-09-05T19:33:00

Super hard!

I think there's also some issues with collision boxes. I think the goomba has a bit too large of a collision box (adjusting it might make it too easy though).

Good work for this theme :)

Fishbowl by Mase 2015-09-05T19:50:00

Interesting idea, controls ok. It's very hard to jump from a platform that's going down, I always fell in the water.

What a strange graphics style and palette, reminded me of old CGA/EGA games :-O Nice work!

Safari by Parappa 2015-08-24T06:04:00

Never mind the graphics or the length, I think the ending was perfect. You got the theme excellently there. Great job!

Power Corrupts by mortus 2015-08-25T19:16:00

I liked the graphics and especially the parallax effect. The music reminded me of almost lucas-artsy something :D

I found the controls fighting me a bit, jumping was a bit too difficult and landing accurately was a challenge. I did complete the game anyhow, it was interesting enough :)

A Monster Is You! by person124 2015-08-31T16:17:00

Ok, I hard a hard time figuring out what the heck was I supposed to do, but once I got the idea, I started to like it a lot. Even had different strategies for losing one of the pixels following me.

Like said before, the graphics could be anything, but I don't think I would want you to change them. Props for using Java, it's a dying art in game dev (I still love it). Good work.

Ascent from Haydes by Nnnnneeeedddd 2015-08-31T16:19:00

Bummer, doesn't run on mac either :/ OSX Yosemite + Java 8 installed.

Dark Clicks by xbcw 2015-08-31T16:48:00

Ok, got hooked, unlocked everything, until I had at least 10 of everything. Add more content and, well.. maybe a point :D

It just shows you how little you need for a game to be addictive.

Quest for the Castle by igoramendola 2015-09-05T19:18:00

Stupid, like you said, but still gave me a chuckle :D

Knight lighter by ripter 2015-09-05T19:52:00

Very nice graphics! Nice interpretation of the theme too. Sounds are a bit repetitive. The fire rate was killing me :D

Soup by JoshDBB 2015-08-31T16:56:00

Almost reminds of some demoscene stuff with the graphical style you have chosen. Nice selection of music as well.

The controls are quite good when you get the hang of it and the blob looks very blobbular. I like the idea and the game almost realizes it completely, the lack of a loss condition brings it down a bit, but otherwise a very solid entry!

People's Mandatory Video Entertainment by Nurbs 2015-09-05T20:22:00

Loved the first level thing, made me laugh :D

The second part, didn't really get. I dropped things, things appeared, nothing else happened :-O

yummy, tasty humans by undef 2015-08-31T16:31:00

Social commentary on top of a simplistic game, you done me surprised! Well done!

"I have to tweet about this" :D

Forest monster! by hunttis 2015-09-06T19:08:00

Thanks for all the nice comments guys and gals :) Keeps me striving for even better next time :)

Igoramendola: Gahh, I didn't even think of that :D yeah, I reset the cooldown, but not the status between the levels :P

Super Detective by Pyrofoux 2015-09-05T20:14:00

Stupid, but still made me go to every ending, so.. not bad :D

Made me smirk, which is already a good sign :)

Feed The Cracken by DarthThomas 2015-09-05T19:30:00

Alright game, if a bit repetitive. I was hoping for some kind of indicator for damage (since the attack animation didn't help which direction I was attacking) when I hit a ship.

Free Hugs Kraken by crucknuk 2015-09-05T20:36:00

Nice graphics, felt the love, liked the overhead map music a lot!

Maybe a bit on the easy side :)

FearOverTheCity by Afendar 2015-09-05T19:23:00

Really enjoyed the graphics in the levels. Nice work with the tiles, they didn't seem too reapeat-ey.

The sound effect for the scared villagers is maybe a bit long, it starts to annoy after a while :D

Nice work for the first ludum dare!

The Hunters and The Hunted by Mad Pixel Games 2015-09-05T19:26:00

Cool game, there's some glitching with the graphics (tile edges are flickering, like they're not pixel-perfectly connected) on mac.

Human Hunter by spatanz 2015-09-05T19:41:00

It's like dodgeball :D

Controls very well. Plays simple, but fun. Got to 77, but didn't get the additional hook. Do I need to do something to activate it?

Under Full Moon by Minhir 2015-09-05T20:08:00

Awesome wolf graphics!

However, I didn't quite understand what happened when I walked in/through a house and why I wasn't able to attack there.

The Cauldron of Humanity by Lashiz121 2015-09-05T20:28:00

Not bad, but really difficult. Couldn't make it past level 4.

I also quite didn't understand what the "power"-power does, nor did I quite figure out what the different minions are. Points were so frugal that I didn't have much opportunities to summon minions.

LD34 — Two Button Controls / Growing

Double Kick Heroes by blackmagic 2015-12-28T11:58:00

Everything here feels really good.

Only thing is that the game is so intense that I miss a lot of the great stuff happening on top of the music bar :D

Amazing stuff!

Crazy Tornado City by Zener 2015-12-28T09:07:00

Liked the "katamari damacyness" of it all :D

The destruction was a little bit unpredictable. Didn't really get why sometimes a building would get picked up and other times not and then another building of the same size got picked up again. Didn't also understand why the power-meter just seemed to "fizzle" at lowest power when I had reached maximum size.

Super Space Invader by BlackBulletIV 2015-12-28T08:44:00

Nice work. Couldn't get past the boss with the lifebar, since it kept trapping me in a corner from which there was no escape. Really nice work!

I didn't feel like the health upgrade was worth it over the firepower upgrades (well, the boss taught me otherwise :D), since the firepower upgrades always seemed much more useful until that point.

Barbarians with Cannons by hunttis 2015-12-28T09:53:00

Cheers for the comments, graphics are pure coder graphics!

Was pretty happy with how the moon turned out. Was really unhappy with how the sun turned out :D

You can try to shoot the opposing player's ammo from the air too!

The reason we decided to stop time completely was because the barbarians move when the time is running. The army will destroy the opposing village if they reach it. That would allow you to win by doing nothing if you've fired a lucky shot destroying most of the opposing army!

Growth by Alexander Ramsay-Baggs 2015-12-16T18:34:00

Goes well with the theme. Very relaxing, could maybe use with more interaction (at least in the beginning, when you're just clicking the days away :D). Perhaps have some pests you have to squish or something?

Family Tree by bwatanabe 2015-12-28T09:01:00

Ok, that was creepy. Reminded me a bit of Monty Python or maybe Eraserhead :D

The controls didn't really work like expected, I had trouble getting past the end thing. Eventually did, but it felt kind of like a glitch that I did. I alternated jumping and ducking and got past it (not sure if it was supposed to play out that way).

It's Full of Stars by incobalt 2015-12-28T09:18:00

Strange, interesting idea. For some reason the clicking had a signifigant offset for me, when trying out for the first time as unity webgl was telling me to disable the cursor. After clicking disable, the clicking was accurate inside the game, but the cursor escaped before the border of the app.

Hear My Power Growing by Adreqi 2015-12-28T11:50:00

Loved the idea of the music growing along with your power. On top of that the nice song in the background added to the mood.

The enemies could use a little variation and I really would've wanted to go out on town with the maximum powerups on a bunch of enemies, so consider adding that :D

Couldn't get the game to start from the opening menu if it was running in a browser window (mac safari). But as soon as I fullscreened, the game finally accepted my spacebar. Consider using a clickable start button in the future, just in case :D

Croc Climber by thegypsyknight 2015-12-28T11:31:00

Aargh, the graphics are so cute my head might implode :D

Controls nicely, idea is easily grasped, this is the stuff! I hope you continue developing this!

Catalyst by MoreRPG Team 2015-12-28T09:23:00

Interesting, could maybe work as a mobile game as well?

The win condition check didn't work for me. I sometimes filled the grid with the right color, but it still told me I had lost.

SWOOP/POOP by Foofanoo42 2015-12-28T09:26:00

Descriptive title :D

Maybe a bit more response for a proper hit would be nice. Otherwise, nice pooping action!

Attack of the Vikings by terryg 2015-12-28T09:10:00

Interesting, but damn this was frustrating to play on a trackpad :D

The music seems to restart every time you change a page in the tutorial.

Aquajam by luizgama 2015-12-28T11:44:00

Some feedback (bubbles) on the streams of water would be nice and would make it more intuitive.

Cat Scratch Fever by SusanTheCat 2015-12-28T09:30:00

Gahh, the sounds :D Perhaps played a bit too often.

I think some more feedback on a successful attack/defense could make it more intuitive to see when you've done something right.

Interesting anyway, keep at it :)

Snow Grow by johanw123 2015-12-28T11:53:00

Great stuff, once I got hang of it.

Don't know if it was just me, but the yellowish font on the white-yellowish background was almost illegible. Consider using something with a bit more contrast :)

Would've loved seeing the caught items stick out from the snowball :D

Mining Game by DugelStudios 2015-12-28T09:46:00

Interesting, but very broken. I hope you'll work on it post-ld.

Spriggan by Shared 2015-12-28T09:35:00

The mechanic for the thorns was interesting, but it was hard to use, since the screen moved and clicking in the right spots was difficult. Especially since the thorns didn't grow if you clicked several times.

Love myself a good platformer, and you have something original here, so I hope to see some post-ld builds too :)

SpaceBall by piluve 2015-12-28T09:44:00

Good music, nice graphics, enough for what it needs to depict.

I was kinda expecting the A and D keys to directly move me left and right instead of "steering". I also could've used more speed, the game seemed a bit slow.

Reminds me of some of my favorite old games (skyroads and trailblazer), so cheers for that :D

Dig Runner by mikedurn 2015-12-28T09:39:00

Interesting kinda-puzzley, lode-runnery idea. I hope you keep developing it further. Controls would basically allow it to run on mobile platforms too.

Tycho Recon by NoradZero 2015-12-28T10:47:00

Veeerry difficult. Makes me wish the timer that makes me wait for a retry would be faster.

Robo-Spider Attack!!! by iszlonn 2015-12-28T10:56:00

Cool spider!

I wish there was feedback on what size creatures I can currently eat. I think some of the things on screen are cut off when playing on the site linked here. I'm not sure if there was a health bar.

Lava Miner by AlexaCol 2015-12-28T11:35:00

On the easy side, but a very nice little game.

Tailwind by synthetic-entropy 2015-12-28T08:50:00

Nice work on the theme. It did kind of leave me hoping for an accelerate/brake button, since I kept running off course.

Like said before, multiplayer could be cool. Maybe racing against other people's ghosts (asynchronous multiplayer), so you wouldn't have to worry about realtime netcode.

LD35 — Shapeshift

QUADRISIC by oal 2016-04-21T14:19:00

Minimal, but still encourages you to find the best tactic for getting best points. That's really good :)

Definitely default the sound on, just make it possible to turn off mid-game :) (Or maybe make it possible to turn on mid-level)

The Furniture is Alive by Bemmu 2016-04-18T12:29:00

Geez, need new underwear, got spooked by the first thing way too bad :D

There's a clicking in the music, or is that intentional?

Arnold Stallion's Pump or Die by arzi 2016-04-21T14:35:00

Nice graphics, very River City Ransom :D Loved the poses and the humor :D

Only thing that took me a while was to figure out what the girl-mode does, but once I did, it was very funny too :)

Attack of the RGBobots by sol_hsa 2016-04-18T06:02:00

Really interesting enty. Forces you to think a bit more. And Retro graphics for a reason :D

I think I would've played the heck out of this game back in the olden days (though I had a C64). Nice sounds too!

Angry Squid by Pent 2016-04-21T13:46:00

It made me wish that the sprayed ink had stayed in the level, so I could mess everything up :D

Shape Up by F4KETHIS 2016-04-18T04:36:00

An idea that made me snicker :D

However, playing it was difficult (couldn't make all of the positions) with a Finnish keyboard layout :( If you make a post-compo build, I think sticking to just letters would be safer :)

The Core by Syldarion 2016-04-18T12:08:00

Quite difficult. What came as a surprise was that enemies kept shooting me while I was interfacing with the computer thingy :D ouch.

Down the Drain by nopogo 2016-04-21T13:59:00

Finished in just over two minutes. I was hoping that there was a button to change out of form too, or maybe directly into another form, for better completion times in the levels! One (a polish thing really) is the camera showing parts outside the level, a small thing really :)

Congrats on finishing a game! And not a bad one either!

Subject 74 by chobrah 2016-04-21T13:51:00

That intro made me laugh out loud :D

Nice grasp on the theme, nice puzzles. Very nice!

Only criticism I had was that I wish the alarm was just a bit quieter :D

Elements guide me by Erkberg 2016-04-18T11:04:00

I think the idea is interesting and has potential. The jump controls are a little difficult to get a grasp on. I also couldn't get past the second vine obstacle (the one after the long pits of spikes). It just wouldn't break.

The Tale of Lapkovius by ziege 2016-04-18T10:56:00

Interesting!
And difficult :D I died constantly :D

A Cursor-y Attempt by RNanoware 2016-04-18T11:11:00

Uh, super difficult, but pretty much unlike anything I've seen before :D

I think the game would've benefited from a smaller level in the beginning. A tutorial of sorts :)

The Amazon and the Cybergod (UNFINISHED) by Katamori 2016-04-18T05:04:00

The idea of a changing battlefield is really intriguing. The biggest issue gameplaywise I had, was that I wasn't always sure which square I was inhabiting. A shadow under the characters feet could help make it clearer.

I checked and it looks like you've participated before as well, you probably already know that sometimes you make it and sometimes you don't. You at least reached a place where you could release something playable, even if you didn't finish it :)

Galaxy Shift by KamikaziUk 2016-04-18T11:33:00

Can't seem to move the character on OSX :/

dröm by Danny Gallagher 2016-04-18T10:30:00

Nice twist on the theme. Liked the visuals and the ambience a lot :)

Galaxy Shifter by Willsr71 2016-04-18T04:31:00

Cool concept. I think the controls are great. The pacing is a little slow and sometimes it looked like I hit an enemy, but the bullet just passed through.

With better pacing and maybe getting upgrades more often it could be really a lot of fun :)

Under and Above by Xinelu 2016-04-18T04:26:00

Interesting. Dying is a bit too easy, and I think the game would've benefited from a bit more zoomed out view. Enemies often came as a complete surprise for me :)

Wizard of Shapes by puppetmaster 2016-04-24T13:10:00

Aiming was a bit difficult (wasn't always clear to me when a shot would land) and I kinda wished I could see the requirements for the level from the beginning of the level. Maybe show the whole level all the time?

Nice work anyway, enjoyed playing it :)

Absorber by FaeDine 2016-04-21T13:45:00

Interesting mechanics. I think the game would've benefited from "non-rotating" shapeshifting. I mean, dedicated keys for each color. Almost every time I changed into the wrong color that I intended to. it's a 33% chance, that almost every time, right? :D

For 6 hours, nice work. At that point, I had boxes on screen that didn't do much of anything :)

Posthistoric Ooze by hunttis 2016-04-18T12:50:00

Cheers for all the comments, people :)

TLansdale: no, sorry, I actually thought of it at some point, but a few hours later I had forgotten :D I think the levels are short enough for the level restart (R-key) is not too punishing. I'll probably make a post-compo build and fix it into that one :)

Mantlair: I thought of having a fast-forward button, but the thought of doing that with physics scared me, so I concentrated on finishing the game :D

Posthistoric Ooze by hunttis 2016-04-18T12:51:00

sol_hsa: I think that would be handy, I'll write it up for the post-compo improvements.

Posthistoric Ooze by hunttis 2016-04-20T05:59:00

Good commentary on the issues with the game. I'm working on fixing them in a post-compo build, I'll post a link on the page once I have one ready :)

The "not changing while in other forms" is intentional. If there is an effect going on, the creature will ignore totems. It was there to prevent totems from triggering many times (they actually hit the frog totem like ten times when they get the effect). But maybe the effect could be linked to an ID or something in the totem. So the same totem only triggers once each time for that creature.. Definitely stuff to think about :)

RockHopperGames: I did think that an interesting thing could be comboing totems for various effects. One idea was that maybe the bird totem could be placed in the air, since it could make for some interesting levels combined with the fish totem effect. For the sake of the scope, I had to ditch those ideas, but now the world is open :D

Posthistoric Ooze by hunttis 2016-04-22T05:56:00

Erkberg: Thanks for the comments and D'OH! :D I didn't even remember that losing a level takes you back to the main menu! I'll fix it in the post-compo build :)

I'll try to work in the physics fast forward too :)

Posthistoric Ooze by hunttis 2016-04-23T18:46:00

MINOR SPOILERS :D

Godsboss: You only need the eagle totem in the level. The eagle totem placed on the edge should allow the blobs to fly across to the goal.

They don't pop out of form in the middle of the air, do they? Does the game run fine on your computer?

on the hunt by Sanguine 2016-04-18T12:23:00

The game looks fantastic.

For some reason, on the mac there's a lot of graphics corruption when you shed your skin. Polygons everywhere!

PowerBeat by Insality 2016-04-21T14:23:00

Nice visuals, good music, quite difficult!

The monster and the mouse by albinobat 2016-04-18T10:37:00

I liked the idea, but the game was so hard I could only get to the bird stage! :D

Snap & Shift by Cowa 2016-04-18T11:59:00

Aww, that made me wish there was more :D Nice pixel graphics too!

Theseus by TheMeorch 2016-04-24T12:10:00

Very nice! Forces you to think, looks cute (because of the little legs :D ) and then it even sounds and looks great! I really liked the rain-effect.

Glad I ran into this (advertised in a post by dat.not.my.game!)

Sergei's Virus by avinashd 2016-04-24T13:27:00

Ok, that was fun and funny :D

Novel use of the theme, nice implementation and funny too. Great work!

Flow by flummox3d 2016-04-18T06:10:00

That's a really simple idea that plays out beautifully. Wow.

Pacifist Hill by wavertron 2016-04-18T11:36:00

Haha, love the sound effects :D

The game makes me feel a bit like I'm deflecting arrows with a sword or something. Maybe you could destroy the tanks that way, or something?

Metamorph by RockhopperGames 2016-04-18T11:29:00

Agree with previous: the jumping mechanics feel a little floaty and "glidey". I did like the sprite graphics though. Really nice, good animations too.

It was still fun to play. Played until I got the dashing item.

Shift;:. by Anikki 2016-04-23T18:00:00

A novel idea! I like the one-button controls. This would work as a mobile game.

Spaceshape by Saymon 2016-04-18T11:17:00

Interesting combination of ship building and tetris. I didn't quite understand why sometimes the blocks wouldn't move all the way to the side, however.

I also didn't understand what to do in the combat phase :-o

I had some dots around my ship and I thought those were the directions I was maybe supposed to fly towards, but I didn't know if I was moving or not (some background stars or something might have helped there).

Who Let The Chicks Out? by jdmazz 2016-04-21T14:28:00

Funny :D Also a bit hard ! Congrats on finishing a game, starting out is the most difficult :)

The camera could maybe go a bit ahead of the chicken, so it'd be easier to see where you're jumping. Sometimes you even had to make a leap of faith, since you couldn't see where you're going :)

Also, OUCH on the level ending sound :D

Elementary by oparisy 2016-04-24T12:44:00

Nice work, I actually kinda liked the simplistic cubey graphics.

Like the previous commenter said, I think they game would benefit from faster movement.

Maybe when you're in water form, you move faster over water? Or maybe some kind of an activatable skill? Maybe crossing some parts of terrain requires certain element?

Run Rainbow Run by djosef 2016-04-24T11:56:00

The game itself is alright. The controls are responsive and don't feel floaty. I didn't really get how the theme is there :D

Legend of the Bucca by A Little Red Panda 2016-04-18T12:14:00

NIce little game, especially enjoyed the diorama-like visuals. Reminded me of some really old kids shows. Is there a way to fail the night part of the game?

Can't Drive This - #cantdrivethis by pixel_maniacs 2016-04-24T13:14:00

Damn, was it ever hard to play this alone :D

I think it might be a nice game just as a "build a level for you to race"-type of game! Kinda brought back "stunts" from DOS-gaming days. The graphics were also a little heavy on my laptop :D

Eggplant’s Dynamic Chimerization by DAT.NOT.MY.GAME! 2016-04-24T13:31:00

What is going on here?! :D

Ok, nice visuals, funky music, didn't really understand what to do :D

Amelie the Amazing Amazon by Matzigon 2016-04-20T21:07:00

Whew, good thing you said about the game size, I thought it crashed, but it was still downloading :D

Nice work, if a bit on the short side :) It was a bit of a mystery to me when I was successfully hitting enemies (maybe add some flashes or sparks or something :) )

I liked that you had a few different transforms!

Polymorph by dsmeathers 2016-04-18T12:46:00

The atmosphere was there. I got spooked by the first enemy encounter. The game was so dark though, that I couldn't really figure out what to do. I found the crawlspace, but I couldn't get out of it.

TRUMP: Political Shapeshifter by Brice 2016-04-21T13:41:00

It's different for sure :D And what makes it scary is that these are all real quotes from him :P

Nice work

Infinite shifter by Martins 2016-04-24T12:29:00

Very nice! Managed to get all the shapes!

Don't even really get why this was so fun, but I guess just watching stuff fall is fun :D I think the random-color blob emitter is a bit too powerful (at least if you want to generate all of them)

Exhuman by Arvydas 2016-04-24T12:02:00

The game looks phenomenal. Nice use of focus blur. The controls made me struggle really. I think the acceleration and deceleration of the character should've been tighter or something (perhaps it gets better with upgrades).

Bloodbearer by emielboven 2016-04-24T12:15:00

Ok, should've guessed, a game by two artists looks great! The animations look really good, as do all the characters. Don't worry about the programming part, it's not an innate skill, but a learned one :)

The controls are a bit floaty and sometimes it's hard to see who you hit, when you swing. Very light on the shapeshifting too :D

Haywire by VividRedemption 2016-04-18T05:13:00

Cool little game. The sideways acceleration for moving the thingy could've been a little more sensitive. The film effect was cool, at first look the game looked like it was played on top of an full motion video :D

One thing I noticed was that all the other forms were shaped exactly like the hole in the wall except the red one :D

GoldRing-Man by StormBurpee 2016-04-18T05:55:00

Pixel graphics wizardry for the environments, wow :-O

It took me a while to notice the minimap, before that I was just wandering around aimlessly :D

Black Heart by luquio 2016-04-18T11:57:00

Made me really wish that I could choose the shape with numbers or something, rarely got the right shape I was expecting, when pressing space :D Made the game really difficult.

I had to turn off the game when the screen started the full screen color flashes, it's a bit extreme.

Cat Shapestift by guckstift 2016-04-18T12:33:00

Cat mechanic was funny :D

Werewitch by Przekop 2016-04-18T10:00:00

Funny idea and cute graphics :D

The movement requires a lot of tapping, even if you're going only in one direction. It makes the game a bit tedious to play, maybe move while you're pressing?

Ball Blitz by Dante2001 2016-04-21T14:12:00

That was quite a fun game, not sure where the theme came in though :D

Also, for some reason, the fast-forward button simply killed my computers performance :-O

Robot Snake by eduardogacn 2016-04-24T12:51:00

Very good! A novel mechanic with nice puzzles. I would've definitely played more of this! Nice work all around!

Shapegrammer by APantaloni 2016-04-24T12:57:00

Took me a couple of plays to get it, but after I did, it's ingenious in it's simplicity and overall mechanics. Always liked tangrams and was happy to see someone else does too :D

Squarcle by bagface 2016-04-18T06:29:00

The shapeshifting took a bit to get used to, as the shift had a delay. A fun idea anyway :)

LD37 — One room

PacTwist by Prospero 2016-12-14T13:26:00

The music was a big surprise, did you make it? :-o It could've been a bit longer, but nice work!

The controls were a bit hard, and the instructions were a bit hard to read at the start of the game (maybe if the font had an outline or a shadow or something?), but the game was on the fresher side, even if really difficult :D

Poopy R**mba by Moritz 2016-12-14T12:57:00

I can't believe it :D

I laughed my bottom off when I saw this, as this has really happened to a friend of mine (well, the roomba probably wasn't actually vindictive, but the mess was still quite something :D). I'm guessing you've had it happen too? :D

Aaaanyway, about the game:
+ a new kind of a puzzler, which is always nice to see
+ nice graphics + simple controls + easy to grasp
- the sounds were a bit sharp for me - sometimes the roomba started from behind the level sign and I had to move first to find out where I start

The Labyrinth Room by savinvadim1312 2016-12-14T13:03:00

Got a nice Gauntlet-vibe from this. Controls work alright, although I had some trouble figuring out how far do my fists reach.

The camera is maybe zoomed a bit too close and the music is quite unnerving, to the point of madness :D

Reckless Redecoration by qbicfeet 2016-12-14T12:22:00

Very interesting! I liked the client screens :D

I got the first client to be happy, but as the ones before, I couldn't figure out the wife :D

Things I hoped I could do was rotating the furniture (probably left out for time reasons).

This would work well on mobile, too. In addition, made me interested in the platform you made this!

OctaRoom by muriel 2016-12-14T12:49:00

Graphics were functional and the idea was simple enough. I could see this as a fun little LAN game with a lot of players.

Played it with a bit of a gimped setup (just a laptop) and shooting was difficult with the trackpad (especially the second button :D ).

Enemies felt like they wanted to kill me, so that was nice :D

Resources in a Room by 5Cents 2017-01-01T12:56:00

The game is a bit repetitive and the crafting/gathering resources seems to be really random. That made the game just really a little bit odd.

Keeper of the Altar by BlackBulletIV 2016-12-14T12:36:00

So far the game that I've played longest, upgraded all the weapons to max. While I think the weapons were great for being so crazy, the maxed out RPG made the levels a bit too easy :)

Maybe the altar should destroy a bit more quickly to make the game end :D

But in any case, I enjoyed it a lot, smooth controls, graphics that did the job they were supposed to (especially liked the persistent gore :D) and simple enough. Nice work!

Package Madness 2D by rplnt 2016-12-14T13:21:00

Edutainment in Ludum Dare, holy books of geography! My hat's off to you dear dev! :D

The idea is sound, the controls a bit on the difficult side, and not making it too easy (not just plopping packages to country belts) is good! nice work!

Time Passes by leo_p_mahon 2017-01-01T12:38:00

You rarely run into games in a jam that feel personal or this well written. I feel privileged to have run into this one, cheers :)

StompKid's Nightmare Land by ChrisAntem 2017-01-01T12:41:00

Graphics look really good, but the game was really difficult. Hope you make a post on the ld-site for the post-jam version :)

Scarehouse by MrNyarlathotep 2016-12-14T13:09:00

Controls work alright, once you get the hang of them :)

Also, the "radar" is a really nice addition, the camera would've been too close to survive without the radar.

I think I managed to squeeze my way through the south wall (and outside the level) a few times when escaping from the monsters.

Nice work!

Father Hustler and his holy room by ElKorbo 2017-01-01T12:29:00

From what I gathered, you're supposed to gather the "flock" from all over the level and then bring them to a single place that you then defend. I think most of the confusion comes from the terms that you use.. It says "game starts in..." but you're already moving and gathering folks. Maybe rather use "Wave starts in..". I also think you have a lot of controls to deal with :D

It's not a bad idea, just could've used some refinement. When you're working alone on something, everything is obvious to you, and you don't always remember to think what the game looks to someone completely new (happened to me at least twice :D )

The Last Fish by PickleCrew 2016-12-14T13:42:00

Well wasn't this a surprise :D At first I was kinda annoyed at the short music loop, but once day 2 arrived, I figured out where you were going with it and then it started to get really gloomy :D I think it would've been better if you wouldn't have noticed where the loop resets (there's a slight pause).

Didn't survive the last day, couldn't quite reach everyone in time, but a funny (and gloomy) idea anyway :D

Company Incoming by sanojian 2016-12-14T13:33:00

Nice work! The speed of the character was quite fast, but it wasn't too hard to get a hang of the game.

The font was a bit broken in the papers for some reason (at least in the embedded version). The comment about the sofa underside made me laugh out loud :D

The Murder Room by Sawtan 2016-12-14T13:29:00

Got some SmashTV-vibes off this one :D

Controls work, graphics are clear, the challenge is there. Maybe some timed powerups would be nice to add to variation.

Wall 'em up! by Pavel M. Dlouhý 2017-01-01T13:02:00

Cheers for participating!

I think the game might be more interesting if the walls weren't randomized, rather the maze got increasingly more crowded with every cycle. Maybe with a scripted way of adding walls.

sit down by spb_Rusty 2016-12-14T12:42:00

Really frustrating, but funny idea :D

The students moved perhaps a bit fast to be controllable, though it made me laugh when I had only one student to sit down and a small chain reaction later, everyone was running around :D

LD38 — A Small World

Stellar Twist by rojo 2017-05-18T15:50:29Z

Great idea. The keyboard controls were a bit strange, but the rotation mechanic was awesome! Some height differences were difficult to discern, maybe some shading (if not light-based, maybe height based?) would've helped there, but I enjoyed this entry a lot!

100% Infected by Jackson Frankland 2017-05-18T17:52:54Z

Very nice atmosphere (well, nice might be the wrong word here :D ). Limiting the field of view really makes the game scary. I had serious trouble killing the enemies before dying, though. Maybe go for some sort of "horde" aspect instead of single super strong enemies. Although I'll admit that just having single enemies that are really dangerous works in favor of the atmosphere.

Nice work!

The Hungry Planet by madalaski 2017-05-18T19:55:21Z

The first time I ran this game, I just got a few meteors fly past me and then nothing anymore :/ I reloaded the page and in the second try I got a lot of meteors. My main issues are probably that you have to keep tapping to move and the camera follow is a bit slow and sometimes the other meteors fly so fast that you barely see them before they're gone :D

Otherwise this is a fun little game, liked the music especially :)

EAT by djfariel 2017-05-08T13:03:07Z

Camera shake when shooting the meteorites was a nice touch :D

Like the user above I had some weird brain malfunction with the controls, I was expecting the creature to navigate like a car (accelerate/thrust, turn left, turn right, slow down), but it was absolute.

Nice musics too, good work!

Vertical City by LiamLime 2017-05-18T18:09:07Z

Whew, it took me a while to get that I'm first supposed to click the pieces and then wait until they're "ready" and then I'll be able to place the actual rooms. I think it was a bit confusing that I was able to select a piece and then that was not actually the function that I was performing. After that I could start advancing. I was playing the mac build and it ran just perfect :)

I loved SimTower and this is really impressive for 48 hours. If you continue developing this, I am definitely interested :)

SmallRTS by MaxguN 2017-05-18T15:26:22Z

This is a really nice and original entry. It was a bit unclear to me how my policies were affecting the game.

Maybe if the critters in the game were bigger and they would fill up with different colors, so you could see what policies affect which blobs.

Group Traffic Control by comatomatoes 2017-05-18T16:01:43Z

Ah, I really wish there had been other players while I was playing. I had some difficulties figuring out when I could build what. The music loop was perhaps a bit short, but the idea is really nice and I think I will have to ask a few workmates to try it out with me tomorrow just for kicks.

Gnome Digger by bobsleigh 2017-05-08T13:12:20Z

Aww, I was really looking forward to playing this, but it seems to not start on my mac (OSX Sierra, 15" Macbook pro 2013) :/

Tiny Asteroid War by Hackingroelz 2017-05-18T18:38:21Z

This was a very smooth experience (if really really difficult). Controls feel responsive, even though I ended just reversing most of the time :D Graphics were really doing what they needed to do as well, no need to go high poly to make it intensive :)

I made my game in haxe as well, first time LD with haxe, so it was nice to see someone else used it too :D It's pretty great and your game shows it can do 3D too. I had some issues getting the html5 build to stay stable (some weird tweening issue).

Have you used haxe for long?

Gravity Does Not Work That Way by karln 2017-05-18T15:33:59Z

That was quite funky. For some reason the scrolling was really hard for Safari, framerate dropped to about half. Sounds didn't work on Safari either (probably a format thing). Chrome was fine, scrollingwise and soundwise. The sounds spooked the poop out of me :D Dayum :D

Fun mechanic, easy enough controls (learning to smack the enemies with the planet was fun). I did run into quite a few "invisible walls" at the very first location, since the player hitbox was a bit bigger than I expected. It took me a while to get out of the beach because of that :D

Ruler of Survival by Flying Cat of the Pepes 2017-05-18T17:05:27Z

Interesting concept. You were wondering about the controls. The camera doesn't really need to be in "fps"-mode. If you only need the camera to focus on the small island, you could anchor it's center to the island and then the sideways camera controls would just circle the point of focus. That might make the camera a little bit easier.

Cheers for the original idea :)

I could maybe use a vote as well :) https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/38/jar-of-life

Pixel Town by automatonvx 2017-05-18T18:48:35Z

Trial and error leads to success, while playing. I really enjoyed this entry. The strategy is simple on the surface, but bad planning will force you to restart and nothing is explained in too much detail.

This was really nice. Even the music fit the game really well. Only thing I would maybe complain a bit about was the placement of the bigger buildings. A surrounding box that shows up green/red or something like that, so you know where the mine and the farm will end up when you click.

Jar of Life by hunttis 2017-05-18T14:49:48Z

Thanks for all the comments people :)

@alexandr-rum : I think our help texts could've been better written :D So here goes another try :D

Help 2.0

You have plants in the jar, they grow on their own. You have one carnivore, who is starving. You add herbivores, who eat plants by clicking. They are prey to the carnivore. Carnivore brings most points while it's alive. Herbivores bring some points. Try to balance the amount of herbivores, so they don't eat all plants (and end up starving to death) and enough to keep the carnivore alive as long as possible.

@tuomo : Yeah, I implemented the scores and help texts in the last few hours of the jam, so I had to pick one and being a coder.. Well, if you have a graphical artist in the team, don't let the coder pick the font :D You got it exactly right, the nutrients are a timer of sorts to prevent the plants from completely overtaking the jar. The carnivore has a quite a short range, maybe we could've communicated that a bit better :) Cheers for the very in-depth analysis!

Jar of Life by hunttis 2017-05-18T15:35:32Z

And yeah, the song is made during the jam just for this game, the person just isn't part of the LD community (yet). We still have to pull him in :D

So it's ok to rate that one too :)

Caturday is today by DemyHallar 2017-05-18T15:21:40Z

What a strange game :D I can honestly say that I haven't seen a game like this, EVER. :D Controls were odd, and a tutorial might've helped figure out the game a bit better, but nice work in any case, this is original!

Nice work on the graphics and the audio, too.

Loading the game was odd, there was no indication that it was loading. I don't know enough about unity, but it seemed like it had crashed, so I reloaded a few times, because I didn't know that it was downloading all the time. A loading screen would've been nice there, if it's possible to have one :)

Island Catcher by Poller 2017-05-18T19:03:09Z

Nice work, the startup script didn't seem to work on my mac (even after I chmodded it) but I could run the game nevertheless. 1040 final score (though I thought it was higher at some point :-o ).

Nice work, didn't take many seconds to understand the point :D

Mr. Smith by unoion 2017-05-08T13:08:00Z

Really nice graphics and idea! The music loop is maybe a bit short on the short side. The playability is otherwise fine, but I noticed that the jumpy camera movements made the game a bit harder than it had to be. It was somehow harder to estimate the length of the jump when the camera was acting a little unexpectedly.

Was still really happy I happened upon this game, really nice work!

Hives (Gameboy ROM) by refreshgames 2017-05-18T15:54:33Z

That is some sweet nostalgia vibes that you're dealing.

Nice graphics, controls are fine, except that I missed the text where it told me where the fire-key is :D It took me a lot of dying to find how to kill enemies.

At It Like Rabbits! by HenryBell 2017-05-18T20:12:37Z

Nice game. It could maybe use some warnings like "about to overpopulate" or something :D The basket placement is apparently random? I had the research basket spawn right next to the resource and the numbers were shooting up :D

Planet Pinball by lucentbeam 2017-05-18T15:45:30Z

Nice idea, I think the game would've benefited if there was a bit more warning before the balls smacks to the ground, though :D Very difficult!

Twin Jet Miner by invader 2017-05-08T12:57:32Z

I think the game would've benefited if the player character was smaller than the corridors you were traveling (maybe enemies too), it was a bit too easy to snag on the corners. I always like to build stuff that does its stuff on its own, so the turret mechanic was really nice :)

Escapist ! by Number6406 2017-05-18T18:27:10Z

Color me impressed!

First I was like :cold_sweat:, then I was like , then I was like , and in the end I was like

This is probably the game I've played the longest in this LD. The game had a lot of information hitting me in the face on first start, which was maybe just a little intimidating. But I stuck with it and I'm certainly not sorry. This is why I love Ludum Dare, sometimes you just find something awesome that is made in a crazy amount of time.

I don't even know if this would be improved by a tutorial that holds your hand. Figuring out how it works is part of the charm for me. I think it's awesome the way it is, but the only improvement I could think of could maybe be that it would be clearer what is required and what is produced in what time.

Great work!

Colorfly by Zelos 2017-05-02T16:15:53Z

Ok, wow. It really shows that you emphasized on the music. The game is a bit simple, like you said, but the mood makes up for a lot of it. Like others said, variation would've been great, but I'm really glad I got to play this even if just for the musics.

Look up by Vodzik 2017-05-18T17:32:53Z

Nice looking game. The game was a bit on the easy side for several minutes.

There was really no other direction to go to, but down, since the camera was a bit low to be able to see if you went up :D

You could even have enemies crawling on the ground and you'd have to shoot them or lead them to the hot spots to be destroyed :D

The Underventure of Polin by manolo_rei 2017-05-18T17:59:19Z

Like mentioned above, seeing the cursor would improve a lot. For some reason on my mac the cursor showed up after I took it to the top edge of the window and it bugged somehow and started showing :D

After that happened I enjoyed the game quite a lot. The graphics remind me of "World of goo" and the gameplay was smooth enough to be interesting :)

Locker C-18 by simonmnt 2017-05-18T14:45:36Z

A simple game, but works. The browser scrolling was driving me crazy :D Like suggested above, maybe use "wasd" for controls to prevent scrolling (if you don't have control over the page and can stop the scrolling yourself in code)

Ant Clicker - Ready for your reviews!!! by AndyNice 2017-05-18T15:13:54Z

Nice work on the ambience! This requires no music, as the sounds of the forest work so nicely. I couldn't figure out if it was a loop, but I couldn't pick up on the spot where it loops. Really nice work.

This is a very dangerous game for me, I don't really even like clickers, because I get stuck to them :D This wasn't so hectic as some others are though, there were quite long pauses between when the ants went for food and then having to click again. That could maybe use some tuning to keep the player engaged.

I had to check it out, but it seems you used Phaser. Nice work on the visuals too! Especially the very moody translucent particles make it seem very faerytale foresty :D

Let's Be Happy in Our Small World by Tuomo 2017-05-18T15:02:45Z

Ok, that was something unexpected :D Nice pick on the music for the mood, even if you didn't compose it.

The gameplay is perhaps a bit simplistic for long term engagement, but I could see this as a part of a mini-game-collection! Or maybe if it had different things in the "world" that could go wrong. Like someone eating a whole cake while the vase is also in the level, so you have to keep your attention on several things at once.

LD39 — Running out of Power

Power Synergy by Turkey 2017-08-20T19:06:10Z

I agree with some of the previous commenters that the game board is way too big. It takes too long to reach enemies. Otherwise quite a surprising concept!

I don't think I have seen a board-game-kind of a game in LD before.

Spacesteroids by novotmike 2017-08-04T09:57:25Z

I really love the player ship graphics, they look great! I also liked the music a lot.

I wasn't able to complete a mission, it always told me that I wasn't able to find the villains :/

One thing that was a bit distracting was that your shots followed in front of you, but it was basically the only way to be able to hit enemies (as they didn't have any sideways movement). Having enemies move sideways and your shots move independently of you could improve the "feel" of the gameplay.

A Thirst For Power by bobsleigh 2017-08-04T07:15:05Z

Nice work! I liked the controls, musics and the general feel of it all, I guess you guys have a fondness for Furi, like I do? :D

The second boss was super hard, I think partly because sometimes I felt I was getting hit a bit unfairly (maybe make the hitbox a bit smaller than the character).

Still, I enjoyed this a lot, although playing with a trackpad increased to the difficulty quite a bit :D

Running the Marathon by gamepopper 2017-08-01T18:28:04Z

I liked the art-style too. I was kinda wishing for a meter that shows the energy, but I guess the "sweating" is there for that :D

Crystal Menace by hunttis 2017-07-31T17:51:20Z

I found the memory leak and fixed it. I replaced the builds linked here. If someone thinks I should make separate links for that, then I can do that too :)

The only change between the builds is just how I clean up my particle effects. I used to do it in a way that kills one dead effect per tick (60 per second), and usually that's enough, but this game makes so much beam effects that it wasn't enough :D

Thanks for playing and sorry for the crash :)

Crystal Menace by hunttis 2017-08-04T06:58:41Z

If you run into crashes, could you let me know which build you were playing? Also, if you had built a ton of buildings or maybe something else :D Trying to track down the issue.

Crystal Menace by hunttis 2017-08-04T09:52:07Z

You can build towers right next to power plants, but the power plant range is so small that it's not really a good way to go about it :D

Crystal Menace by hunttis 2017-08-04T11:02:00Z

@stefvanschie Yeah, that was an idea that was left on my todo-list when time ran out :D The simplest possible way I could've done that was to restrict building to powered squares. That would've been smart.. Now that I thought of it :D

@FurkanFS The missing currency-system was a painful realization at the end, but couldn't put a bad one in. Rather wanted to let the player play around and build stuff (destroying the nest isn't that easy, even with unlimited building).

ABANDON SHIP by attrition 2017-08-04T09:50:38Z

For some reason a really successful dark mood in this game. I really liked the beginning of the song, the foreboding sounds. I think the beep-boop-melody-part wasn't as good, but overall the song was adding a lot to the atmosphere.

I really hoped to be able to drop a crewmember without taking them into the escape pod, but I understand this would require tuning the puzzles to a completely different form :D I just often found myself "Ahhhh, that's the one I should've picked up instead of this" :D

Cheers for the game!

Surge by machinescreen 2017-08-20T19:01:42Z

Really nice, as mentioned in the previous comment, I would've appreciated a faster player speed :D

I also think the game could've used a bit more variety (maybe different enemies? upgrades to player?) as it goes on. I really enjoyed this game though, and managed to survive about six minutes.

How I Met Your Great Great Grandmother by PeachTreeOath 2017-08-04T06:56:44Z

That was really cool! I liked the idea of having to plan your path in multiple boards before you could solve the levels. It reminded me of some older game where you had two characters that moved around at the same time, but with steroids. Almost immediately understandable, easy controls, nice sounds and music, this is really good.

My only minor tiny issue was that the music started from the beginning every time a level started, so it made it a tad repetitive (the music was fine in itself, by the way).

PowerCubeStationBoxâ„¢ by NueboMundo 2017-08-04T10:00:55Z

That was funny and original :D Probably the first game that has made me really laugh :D

Shaking made the box be in a really in a weird position, maybe a "turn upright"-button or something could be nice!

PoweRL by Steve Johnson 2017-08-04T06:49:54Z

Cheers for the game! I thought it was quite enjoyable. Especially enjoed the mellow music and the non-grating, but chippy sounds.

I also liked that the enemies made sense (in the way they move) and that the game was pretty easy to understand. One thing about the directions though, I'm not sure what the 'swipe to move' means, since I just used the arrow keys. I tried to move the character by swiping and it just told me that I don't have ammo (which I naturally didn't have at the beginning of the game)

No Sorcerer's Sky by TheFlyingKeyboard 2017-08-04T09:35:41Z

I loved the vibe and the music in the game, but catching stuff flying past was really hard and I think it could've used a bit more instructions on how you get the different kinds of materials.

Oh no! Democracy! by Tim Eriksen 2017-08-01T18:14:53Z

The idea is pretty golden and I liked the humor :D

It took me two tries to finish, but the second time was much easier as I started to understand how the game works and which cards I should be picking.

The Last by Vija02 2017-07-31T17:07:13Z

Really interesting that you used React :D I also really like that you had an opening cutscene!

The game was a bit difficult though, and my lack of understanding the controls added to that :D I spent way too much health smacking into the walls. Maybe the bandages should disappear after using, so I don't spend life trying to use them when it's not possible).

Scale of Life by ilya_kozlov 2017-08-04T09:42:57Z

Pretty cheerful game :D

Concept is really simple (although I didn't quite understand it at first) and the graphics and sounds are awesome! :D

Powerless: Trump Teaches Typing by RootPew 2017-08-04T09:30:41Z

Great stuff, appreciate this bigly :D

LD40 — The more you have, the worse it is

Just 2 Fast by M2tias 2017-12-23T06:31:35Z

Nice work, really missed some more sound effects though :)

I loved that even the when the resolution of the graphics was super slow, the rotation of the car sprite was really smooth :D

That would've never happened on those machine in the way back :D

Team leader by gamedevbynight 2017-12-23T05:52:50Z

The game is interesting and while I like the music and the atmosphere it creates, the loop is a bit short (or maybe it's just that you can notice it looping as it loops with a tiny pause). The sound effects are a bit out of place and maybe a bit aggressive/loud.

At times, I didn't understand why a function didn't work. Some kind of text message somewhere could've helped. "Can't hire, not enough money" or something.

I liked that I could just use the keyboard to control the game and the programmer "health" bars were clear enough to convey what was going on.

Still, one of the games I spent most time with :D

Cheers!

Among the trees by LooksLikeSomething 2017-12-23T05:42:46Z

Music was good, gameplay was simple enough and naturally, easy to get a graps of immediatelly. I actually liked the tree graphics too, even if it was just primitive shapes, they conveyed very well what they were. Maybe started a bit slow, but it got interesting when the speed increased enough.

Robby & Coppy by Imphenzia 2017-12-14T21:11:49Z

Nice work on the animation, the graphics and the music :-o

The controls are pretty good too, the levels could use a little more work. The jumps don't quite "click". I'll try to explain. When you jump from a square block onto the next one (in one of those stairs-parts), you jump over the coin and you have to walk back. It's a really minor thing, but you kind of expect to collect the coin with that jump :)

Cheers, happy to have played it! :)

Komainu by pi mont 2017-12-23T06:10:00Z

Graphics are great, music fits the mood and atmosphere. I did feel like the shurikens were too powerful, since I could just tap along with two fingers on the trackpad and nothing could touch me :D

Like Cliff said above, didn't really understand how the theme came in to this. I didn't manage to get the game to give me feedback on whether all enemies are really dead, or did I finish the level or what.

Astrofarmer by hunttis 2017-12-21T06:18:12Z

Cheers for all the reviews and comments! :)

@gamequester @schu @lars-dk Yeah, we've realized that we're communicating a little bit too little information to the player. The moomoos are hungry almost immediatelly when they land. If they don't get to feed, they will get enraged, which turns them into cannibals. We actually had the sales ship come in infinite times (until all your moomoos are gone one way or another), but it made the game sessions very long, since you might get stuck with just one moomoo that can never produce any more :/

The shouting mechanic is intended as a "shepherding" function, so you can drive the moomoos a bit towards the ufo that comes to pick them up. We did notice that it's perhaps a bit too difficult, and also they might get enraged after the effect wears off, because they didn't have a chance to eat :D

We're working on a post-jam build, it's located in http://astrofarmer.net

It already has some additional stuff, like a title music and slightly better graphics.

Astrofarmer by hunttis 2017-12-21T06:19:00Z

The post-jam build also runs on safari, you just need to refresh the page one time (for whatever reason we can't figure out)

Radioactive Cavemen by deathray 2017-12-23T06:27:32Z

Interesting, but I didn't really understand how what I was doing was affecting the characters on screen.

Like Zirrrus said, drag-digging would've been nice.

Definitely something original though :)

All By Yourself by kothead 2017-12-19T20:36:46Z

I really liked the art and the general concept, but I couldn't figure out the game. The game was a bit repetitive (ehh, duh, making a lot of clones :D ), but since it was not really clear what you should be doing actually, I gave up :/

The gameplay could use maybe some sort of a puzzle mechanic concerning the clones (fill up a pool or something and then you can cross) anyway, something that doesn't make the player just wait and tap one button repeatedly. A more quickly reached goal in the beginning perhaps :)

Kabloo8 by samh 2017-12-23T06:17:10Z

Ok, this was FUN!

I got up to 33, which is where I somehow managed to make some of the balls go in a horizontal pattern and they would never end up in the bottom of the screen.

So far, this has been my favorite of the whole lot I've been playing this year :) Great stuff!

Lamattractive by Pandanym 2017-12-23T05:35:46Z

Graphics were really impressive :-O Also loved the "neck physics" :D

Looks like you were making this a bit with mobile in mind, with the screen orientation and all, but it works really well, since up is where you want to see.

Cheers, made me happy!

Too Many Chooks by Schu 2017-12-14T20:58:44Z

Easy enough to understand. My biggest problems were with the cursor escaping the game area and the pan "getting stuck".

I have to admit, I did laugh when I clicked the "meet the chooks" :D That was a really funny addition to the game.

The sounds were great, but I think they could've used a bit more variation (a few more different clucks)

Corridor by aa4z 2017-12-23T05:56:45Z

Super smooth gameplay :)

Got a hang of the (tank) controls quite fast and aiming was a breeze. I did wish there was some sounds and/or some feedback for the hits I'm making to the enemies. The enemies hitting me was really subtle too sometimes almost unnoticable.

The Ol' Flower Shop by Arvejeitor 2017-12-14T21:04:38Z

Ah, reminds me a lot of Tapper, somehow in reverse. Tapper was some of the first games I played, ever. :D

I loved how the player character started wobbling after a few and became really difficult to control! That's like an educational message that wasn't included in tapper :D

Too Many Bears by Rajin 2017-12-23T06:21:55Z

Holy wow the graphics, the music and everything!

Please make a mac build if you can! My browser is choking on the web-build :D

Super Wall Paint! by beepyeah 2017-12-19T20:28:43Z

Super simple mechanic, but really nice. Loved the music!

LD43 — Sacrifices must be made

Sacrizism by Erkberg 2018-12-27T20:01:46Z

Really difficult, don't have a gamepad, so shooting was only in four directions. I liked the intro and the music. For some reason the performance was really bad for me, no matter which resolution I chose (gaming on a surface book). I tried using a lower detail setting too, but sometimes this machine just fails.

Cult Under Construction by Neon 2018-12-27T19:28:43Z

I liked that the game recognized the situation where I put the wrong things into the bowl.

Quite little to do, maybe next time you're more familiar (or have got a proper flow into the work going) so you can get a little more things in :) It already looks pretty good with what you have, it just needs more things to do.

If you have issues with prioritization, you could try splitting features into "must have" and "nice to have" and then try to avoid doing the (fun but) time consuming things that do not make the game more complete (just make it nicer looking and so on) :D

Keep doing the stuff you do!

Room44 by arzi 2018-12-09T11:42:55Z

Wow, this is very polished. A nice way to kill a few minutes of time. The graphics and writing was solid and the atmosphere was great!

There aren't that many improvements I can think of, and since there aren't that many choices in the dialogue it might not even matter, but darkening the ones that you had already talked about would've maybe been nice. When I had (supposedly) found all the clues, I was doing my rounds through the characters and wondering if they had anything new to say.

In the end though, I was kinda left wondering if I had done the right choice, but maybe that was the point of the whole thing

Great stuff!

FTD : Fixin' to Die by nuclearfriend 2018-12-27T20:21:33Z

Uh, that was gruesome. I was kinda expecting it to be a little bit more hopeless, but it was quite anxiety-causing still.

I loved pretty much everything. The squishy sounds, the animations that seemed to have weight even in little things like just when you stop moving, the voice acting :D Really good work! In my Top3 this time!

Ursa by Maksym 2018-12-28T20:31:00Z

Atmosphere is great, the music is really nice and the graphics are great. I mostly enjoyed playing this, but I did have issues with the controls not being very accurate or responsive. I often missed a platform and I felt like it wasn't my fault. Other than the control issues, the game is a really nice experience and I'm happy I played it :)

God given gifts, taken by hunttis 2018-12-12T10:39:24Z

Yeah, we were pondering "is it sacrifice, if there is no choice involved", but it basically boiled down to the fact that considering the time we had left the choice would've been "do you give up the power? yes/no" where "no" would lead to a game over instead of something more meaningful.

Cheers for playing and yes, we had a lot of fun making it

Hamster DRUMA by shide 2018-12-28T19:43:28Z

Game looks fantastic! At times it was difficult for me to see if I was affecting the hamsters with the drumming, so I didn't always seem to get them to follow where I thought they should be going. Maybe some kind of visual thing on the hamsters that are affected? If there already is one, I'm sorry, I had to play with medium graphics.

Demon Dominoes by frosty 2018-12-04T06:17:16Z

The game looks really good and playing is simple enough. Understanding the gameplay is easy and pretty intuitive as well.

It's maybe a little bit on the easy side, but still a really nice way to spend a few minutes.

False God by kothead 2018-12-09T12:01:01Z

Visuals were great and the game looked fine overall, but wow did I not get this

You could've maybe added some texts to the game in the beginning. They could be timed or game event triggered, something like "find people" "pick them up" "drop them here". Even a poopy implementation is fine in LD kinda environments, although it might not hit the visuals you're looking for. It still helps people understand the gameplay

MARATAKA by Vodzik 2018-12-27T19:44:19Z

A bit on the easy side, but quite amusing, liked the humor!

Also.. please consider making a web build in the future, and in case you don't, please use zip packing :D

Eztli by lilkrit 2018-12-27T19:53:39Z

Like mentioned above, sounds would've been great. Even if they just acknowledged that you did something, like with a bleep or something for picking up stuff. I don't think I was told how to pick up stuff either. I tried quite a few buttons before I figured out that it's 'E' :D

I like the literal interpretation of the theme though, and the general mood. I just wish there was more :)

Lintalho by Vija02 2018-12-27T19:34:02Z

Very few go for multiplayer, so my hat is off to you for that. Platforming with puzzle mechanics (and a swinging mechanic!) is a win for me. Good job!

Lava Luva by mcovert 2018-12-27T20:31:42Z

Nice looking game and gameplay experience. I wish you take the time to polish it into a proper game (I'd pay a few bucks for it!).

Sound would be great and a little bit more transparency into the mechanics (sometimes I just stopped getting people into the houses), but in any case, this was one of my favorites this time :)

Sacrificio Inc. by Reality Blind 2018-12-28T19:58:52Z

Very polished! The graphics are well made and animated and the game mechanics are solid.

I was wondering whether the stars should be given based on time or based on moves. That would force the level design to be a little different to allow a few solutions.

All in all, really good work!

Endless Nungeon by Haustgeirr 2018-12-27T19:40:16Z

Nice, I liked the art and the music. The gameplay was a little inaccurate, could've maybe used some tuning with the hitboxes (make them a little bit more fair to the player perhaps? :D) For some reason, my character sometimes got stuck moving in a single direction. I wished I could keep a few abilities and switch between them.. And then maybe choose which one to sacrifice.

The Last Grinder by yush 2018-12-03T13:00:16Z

Wow, it's really difficult on a trackpad

It could help if you could just point and press a key, but I'm really an edge case here.

Vikrifice by Lucidus 2018-12-28T20:47:59Z

Ok, graphics look really good, the gameplay is solid and quite fun. I think with added mechanics and variety, this could be really good. It's already Ludum Dare good, but I mean actual-game-good :D

Total Party Kill by adventureislands 2018-12-27T20:12:21Z

Ok, wow. That was great! Sweet graphics and gameplay. I mean just.. Wow, best I've played in this LD.

Lastcrifices by Cerebral Bore 2018-12-09T11:52:00Z

The music was pretty great!

Gameplay was simple enough to get an immediate grasp of. When the level stopped moving in the first level I was a little freaked out :D I didn't expect it to do that.

Agree with the above comment about the text boxes. It's usually a good idea to make them open and go away fast, so they don't block the view for too long.

Pixel Rot by MemoryLeek 2018-12-27T20:07:19Z

Crazy performant game :D Obvious considering what you used.

I liked the mechanic, but it did make the game very hard. Especially hitting the enemies was borderline infuriating, since the bullets just never seemed to hit. I really wished you could crouch to hit them :D

LD44 — Your life is currency

Rocket Slaver by M2tias 2019-05-20T19:42:18Z

The player ship is just a tad too slow and running out of ammo was a really common occurence for me :D Maybe I'm just used to different kind of shooters. It wasn't quite clear to me when I was able to board enemy ships.

The Current Sea by khaotom 2019-05-21T13:09:26Z

Ok, that idea is really cool! I'm not sure if it connects to the theme, but it's still a fun idea.

The ambience is really nice and I like the simplified graphics style. Nice compo entry!

Treasury Of The Cannon by Phobos001 2019-05-21T12:57:48Z

Ok, I love Missile Command and this wasn't half bad!

The biggest problems I had were with the game pace being really really fast right from the beginning. The game also had a bit of a problem conveying how well I was doing.

The particle effects though.. Mmm-mmm... Yum :D

Catch them all ! by sroelandt 2019-05-21T12:45:30Z

Really cute cubes, I don't even get why :D Maybe it's the animation. A bit confusing on why each level ended (I ran out of ammo, they should maybe be a bit more prominent in the UI).

Like it was mentioned above, clicking should probably progress the menus, because you don't do anything else on the keyboard :)

Nice work anyway!

don't give up, skeleton! by stefenism 2019-05-20T14:18:37Z

Over a gigabyte for a Ludum Dare game?! Holy baloney! :D

You might want to consider making the assets A LOT smaller next time. I'm almost sure that many people will unfortunately not download it and run, especially if they are behind a metered internet connection :/

The controls weren't bad, but it was a bit unclear when I was doing actual damage to the opponent. The camera was a little jumpy and in the end I'm not sure if I completed the game or did it crash to desktop.

Keep at it! Maybe you're just learning your way around the engine, try to make a few practice games with designs you already know.

An I by Drury 2019-05-21T14:55:27Z

That was incredible. I loved the idea, the implementation of the idea and just the progression that you had in the game. The controls were perhaps a little fast, but it added to the hurry you felt in the game. The graphics were great too, and the audio!

One of my favorites this LD!

@aileron I really wanted to play your game, but I can't, it doesn't run on my mac :( That's all I have at work and I think the deadline might be out after I get home to my windows machine :(

I'm sorry

Don't wake a sleeping vampire by hunttis 2019-05-21T14:22:01Z

@harark Yeah, I watched a friend play the game and I realized that the levels should definitely have some openable shortcuts, when you reach specific points.

Vampire Drift by Shess 2019-05-21T12:29:05Z

The driving felt alright and when enemies were there, quite intense. I was a little confused about whether I'm supposed to kill all the other competitors or finish the laps. I was first impressed by the lap indicator, but then confused with it after I noticed it didn't go all the way back to the start when I finished a lap.

Idle Idol by Daniel Moreno 2019-05-20T20:04:49Z

Finally, one game that is better on the trackpad than on a mouse :D

Really polished, but a bit too much on the easy side. THe drip-feeding level is almost perfect, you unlock new stuff just a little bit too far apart. One of the best games this LD!

Goblin Castle by johnnysix 2019-05-21T12:54:08Z

Looks good, sounds good, plays relatively well.

Could maybe use a little bit further out zoomed camera.

Also, the game was aggressively pushing to be fullscreen on my machine :D

In any case, I enjoyed it, played it through a few times, but didn't really understand what the gold button does (except sometimes the goblins take the coin and go back into hiding), but can I open the chests somehow?

Civilian Bailout by alec 2019-05-21T13:18:58Z

Wow, the musics are great and the game looks really good! The gameplay is otherwise great, but for some reason, the keys to change the currency were mirrored on my machine (z and x keys, right?). One of my favorite entries this LD!

Risky Life by neowhoru 2019-05-21T14:25:45Z

The game looks pretty good for a compo entry and the controls are alright!

I enjoyed playing it. There was a slight disconnect with some of the graphics being pixel art and some not, which was a little odd.

Murder of Crows by Cygnus 2019-05-21T14:34:06Z

The flocking looked really nice, especially when they split apart and then gathered again. I thought it was a little weird how the trees destroyed the crows too :D

Nice effort for a compo entry!

Mani by Tex Killer 2019-05-20T14:00:03Z

Doesn't work for me at all unfortunately. I can hear the music, but there is no window, so I can't see anything :/

Using a Surface book, Windows 10 (64-bit)

Mani by Tex Killer 2019-05-20T14:20:17Z

This machine has two display adapters, so I'm almost certain it's because of that.

Anthill by mikelovesrobots 2019-05-21T13:03:42Z

Due to the very minimalist graphics, this felt really well thought out and polished.

I ran into a couple of issues. Like mentioned above, the spawn time was perhaps a bit slow (I also died a lot) and a few times I was (out of impatience) already pressing the keys when the bar was coming up, so the ball just shot super fast up and directly into the hole above making me lose the ball :D Oh well.

Sometimes less is more, this was a very nice entry!

Little Robot by Waveform Modulations 2019-05-21T12:41:33Z

Whoo, the mouse aim is crazy sensitive. I got used to it eventually, but it could've used a choice or some tuning :D

The game was a little repetitive, but I still enjoyed it, once I got the hang of the combat and controls. You might want to add some feedback on when melee attacks hit. My first few tries were just dying, because I tried to talk to the enemies and didn't even realize they were damaging me.

Aliens Love Humans by R2D48 2019-05-20T19:23:01Z

My hat is off to you for scoping this properly :) Some more tips would've been good. Some of the color combinations were a little tough to see (the eyes).

Nice work in any case :)

Time World by Dreamer 2019-05-21T13:31:29Z

Music was pretty atmospheric, the platforming was a little difficult to control (perhaps on purpose). And also, that was friggin' gloomy! :D

Slime, music and portals by VinegarLove 2019-05-20T19:34:00Z

I like the art, but the controls are a bit jerky. I liked the music and the general idea. I also had the unfortunate fate of taking the leap of faith, only to fall in a bottomless pit. Dying would've been merciful here :D

Soulbound by Dovakla 2019-05-20T19:51:03Z

That was pretty interesting. At first I recruited far too many demons and keps losing life way too fast :D

I liked that it felt like an RPG of old, but it was a strange glitch(?) that I could move while the battle was going on :D

Xtrem Soviet Builder by Dukes 2019-05-21T13:13:13Z

Looks good, sounds... funky :D

Forces you to think, and it's still feature complete basically, so this is a really good compo entry :-o

Pharaoh's Purse by Vanea 2019-05-21T14:44:52Z

Like mentioned above, the game needs a little bit more instructions on how the mechanics work. Once I restarted and placed the urn, I got to really playing the game. I love tower defense games, and while this one is a bit simple (well, made in three days, duh), it's off to a good start.

You should probably add some more ranged towers, or maybe look into this Nintendo DS game "Ninja Town" or some of the Ironhide game studio tower defense games on ideas for new towers :)

An Arm or a Leg by lordoilrattus 2019-05-21T12:21:52Z

Looks like the icons on your itch.io page for mac and linux builds are mixed up. Accidentally got linux build first, not a biggie, but you might want to fix it :)

Cool idea! The controls are pretty strange though and the game could use some feedback on when you've attached yourself to the ceiling.

The Soul Broker by soundgnome 2019-05-20T14:08:33Z

Nice idea, like mentioned before, you could take the possession mechanic further by introducing different golems.

I really liked the paper-crafty feeling in the golem graphics and the animations on the main character. The mood was well conveyed by the music.

The controls were a little jerky, as well as the camera movement. You might want to look into LERPing the camera a little bit, and if it doesn't ruin the controls, try experimenting with using acceleration instead of directly moving the sprite with arrow keys.

utsvulten by ditto 2019-05-20T19:55:09Z

That was one strange game :D

I'm really happy I ran into this. Easily the most interesting thing I've seen in a few LD's

LD45 — Start with nothing

Zilch by commanderstitch 2019-10-27T06:37:42Z

Ok, that was strange :D

The logic of when the wolves would die was a little odd, I couldn't figure it out. I also thought it was a bit punitive to go all the way back to the start of the game when you die.

The small fox graphics and animation was really super cute! The controls were pretty much on point, the sounds never got annoying to me, the mood was good. I liked it, albeit it was a bit hard :D

Chill Island by quadtree 2019-10-27T06:45:54Z

I liked the minimalist graphics and the mood that the music created. I did think the sounds were a bit too harsh, they should probably be a bit quieter or softer.

The game required me to act really quickly and to figure out the mechanics and the point really quickly as well, so I didn't manage to get everything set up in time. I guess that's more an issue of balancing. When you're working alone and you know exactly how the mechanics work, it's hard to think how other people will understand it :)

Really interesting and happy to have played it!

World Collector by Joe Williamson 2019-10-27T06:56:27Z

Ok, I don't know if I have anything new to add that hasn't already been said.

Just wow, incredible. I really truly hope you make this into a finished game that I can play on my Switch. I'll definitely buy it.

Amazing graphics, music, mood and the mechanic is just bonkers on how cool it is. Thanks for this entry!

Build Or Die by pkenney 2019-10-27T07:25:13Z

I really interesting entry. I liked this and played it for quite long.

The controls were a bit difficult and I did wish I could've built at least one more defense tower, since my factories outside of them were being mangled constantly. Like it was mentioned before, a minimap to have a bit of an idea of what's going on immediately outside your view would've been a great on top of this great cake.

I think the idea is sound in any case and I hope you continue improving it.

Crashteroid by hunttis 2019-10-08T11:18:29Z

@arzi Did you get metal too? You need both uranium and metal in the second level :)

Crashteroid by hunttis 2019-10-27T06:48:31Z

Yeah, sorry about the disappearing resource spheres bug :( We have no idea what is going on there. We just create spheres and apply physics to them. Sometimes the spheres are just gone. We thought that it was because they were colliding with the ground and somehow going through it, but when they started disappearing in the air... Well, there goes that theory :D

HEARTSCAPE by ZakAmana 2019-10-27T07:03:49Z

Great entry, I immediatelly got addicted to this one and can see the potential for much more.

The game is intuitively understandable, which is pretty rare for compo-entries, but it gives the game great playability as you don't have to try and figure out cryptic mechanics. Nice work.

I hope you continue working on this. Enjoyed it a lot.

Mr.Grind by iozsaygi 2019-10-27T07:13:54Z

I'm such a sucker for clickers :D That was a lot of fun even though it was really simple.

Scoping small enough is often the biggest challenge when doing LD, so I'm going to congratulate you on this! The game felt really polished for what it was. I still played it for way too long, even if it was so simple :D

LD46 — Keep it alive

The Last Green by hunttis 2020-04-24T11:04:42Z

@pilarius Thanks a bundle for the tip. I hadn't even noticed!

The Last Green by hunttis 2020-04-24T11:08:44Z

We didn't have enough time to balance the game properly, so it ended up being a bit too easy :/

A few more towers and enemies would've made quite a difference.

The music is actually played by a dynamic player and it adds instruments when the waves go forward. It's not really obvious from how the game works now, but I'm pretty happy how it turned out, even if it isn't that visible to the everyday player :D

Kombo Krusader by kankje 2020-04-22T04:39:52Z

Easily understandable gameplay, but a lot of fun and challenge! Very difficult on the trackpad :D

Nice work!

LD47 — Stuck in a loop

Fountain Of Death by sawtan 2020-10-19T14:37:44Z

I loved the mood. The music creates a really good atmosphere and the graphics (apart from the bricks) are really good. I think the issue with the bricks is that they are "noisy", if you get what I mean. They repeat too often and the contrast within them is too high. If they were a bit more subtle with larger bricks (and variation like mentioned above), I don't think they would be an issue.

The texts also turned out really small on my display, but it wasn't really that big of a deal.

I would've also appreciated a visual hint of some sort for switches that require two boxes. If there was one, it was too subtle for me  Caused a lot of level restarts.

The music is great, reminds me a little bit of the mood created by the Mansions of Madness app, not a "begging for attention" detailed tune, but just a really good atmospheric buzz  The sounds fit the general atmosphere too.

Cheers! I'm happier to have played this!

Crystal Racer by hunttis 2020-10-20T06:00:04Z

Thanks for all the comments!

Quite a lot of those are issues we tried to fine tune to the last minute. Especially the moment when you have to press the key, how much leeway do we give there.

My personal bests aren't currently applicable, as they were run when the levels weren't in their final form yet

I'll have to play and post my scores later on today

Crystal Racer by hunttis 2020-10-21T14:54:29Z

@tannimun Yes, we considered (and tested) turning on "track change" mode, but it sometimes made it difficult in levels that have intersections close to each other, especially if the next ring has a intersection right after you change. It's likely to be the right choice if we go forward with developing this game further, thanks for the great feedback

Crystal Racer by hunttis 2020-10-21T15:16:11Z

@tannimun We already have plans for the gameplay to remain the same, but have tracks that are NOT ONLY CIRCLES! :scream:

Crystal Racer by hunttis 2020-10-21T15:37:10Z

@knatt Yeah, I knew I should've put that in! The fastest way to retry is probably to refresh the browser, since as a phaser game it loads really fast

Crystal Racer by hunttis 2020-10-21T15:47:41Z

@arron-fowler Yeah, they definitely should've stood out more, maybe even as single-color sprites, as the visuals are rather noisy with the tracks rotating and all that. Cheers!

Stugan by mechanicallife 2020-10-21T15:17:56Z

Aww shucks, after your ( @tannimun ) really good, constructive, commentary on my game I was hoping to play yours, but I have a Mac and there's only a windows build :(

Please, would you consider a web build or multiplatform builds next time?

Loop Frogs by GaryS 2020-10-21T15:26:00Z

Great idea in the game, it didn't take very long to get how I'm supposed to progress. Really good clean graphics and super cute frogs

The hop-sounds were a little "noisy", if you get what I mean. They sounded a little low quality recording like they were coming from an old phone. They were perfectly functional, just felt like a little bit of a bad fit for the rest of the game, when everything else was so polished.

I also somehow confused the buttons several times, but that's more on me than the game

Really happy to have played this

Beyond Death by Trypants 2020-10-21T14:44:11Z

That's a really good entry. I was impressed by the "wake up"-animation. I found the game loop a little confusing, when I died the first time, I think a notice for telling me "your corpse could be useful" might've been a nice tip

The camera was also a little.. uhm.. jumpy, especially when going up the stairs, some LERPing there would've made a difference :)

Really nice atmosphere and really, and impressive entry. Happy to have played it :)

looper by Matt Swieboda 2020-10-19T16:08:23Z

It's a game with the proper scope for a jam game, so you could make a complete game!

Unfortunately it's really super friggin' difficult  I honestly could finish one loop after quite a lot of retries, I didn't understand why I lost almost immediately when I ran off the road.

Instead of fighting the controls, a more fun take could be to try and find the right driving lines to optimise the time. Like mentioned by @waynetron above, timer would make this quite different (and very likely better). Now your high-score is only metered by your patience to drive slow enough.

It's really a good idea to use a language that most users can run, a web build is best, since it doesn't require installing anything. Can't say much about crystal (as this is actually the first time I heard about it), but good choices could be Phaser (for javascript/typescript) or maybe HaxeFlixel (with haxe).

HONK II by Tricky_Fat_Cat 2020-10-21T15:00:14Z

Really cool main character

The camera was a little hyper for me, especially if I played this full screen (probably not supposed to? )

Great music, sharp controls, simple enough to understand, although I kinda wished some hints on the controls (especially for pressing buttons) was in the game. I lost the UI at some point so I couldn't see my hit points or ammo any longer. It might be related to switching to a windowed mode from fullscreen?

Happy to have played this in any case!

LoopRunner by Zarki 2020-10-21T14:22:34Z

Nice work!

The controls are otherwise quite tight, but like Le Don mentioned, if the player dashes or runs next to a platform, they can't jump. It would be a good idea to prevent this from happening (or allowing the player to jump anyway).

The music is pretty good, only left me wondering on why is the music not looping?

Escape the Sun by MikoMikoSpark 2020-10-19T16:14:37Z

The game looks and sounds fantastic, but for some reason, the blur-effect kills performance on my machine :(

Once that happens, the game becomes nigh uncontrollable and I can't get much more than a few hundred points of score.

Robot Rescue by Mike Caputo 2020-10-19T14:24:22Z

Nice work on making a playable game on your first Ludum Dare! It took me two non-submitting LD's to finally submit something playable!

A few things (some of which you might already know): - Always make stuff skippable :D Especially since the game is REALLY HARD! - The "cutscene" was really small on my screen, but the actual game was fine! - Unity has a minimum and maximum scales for text, so you can support more screen sizes - Unity also supports exporting a browser version. It's the easiest way to play a game (no need to install anything for the player), so you should use that. Then you don't have to worry about different platform builds!

Screenshots:

Really tiny UI: https://huntt.is/images/robotrescue1.png

The game itself looks fine though!: https://huntt.is/images/robotrescue2.png

Again! Congrats on making a playable game, I couldn't get very far before dying :D

Trials of the Twisted Timber Land by Enad96 2020-10-19T14:49:21Z

Nice and like mentioned above, quite complex game done for a jam. I didn't understand was I getting damage or not until the big stone head suddenly killed me. I think there's something wrong with the life meter. I also collected hearts that didn't seem to do anything?

The music is quite nice, but the sounds were not really for me

Nice work! The long "pipe" in the level could've used some variation, it was so long I started to feel like I'm in a prank

In The Loop by Luc-creationallabs 2020-10-21T15:35:56Z

Really nice minimalistic look and feel that is also very pragmatic at the same time.

Immediately understandable and yeah, you probably want to release this on mobile as well.

I enjoyed this a lot.

BTW: What version of unity did you build this on, since it claimed on my safari that it doesn't support some required graphics mode (all other unity web builds have run fine)? I played this fine on chrome.

Loopy's run by ZeonBlue 2020-10-19T14:10:26Z

Whooo, things were TINY on my screen

I understand that UI stuff currently is kinda difficult to do well in Unity, so it takes different resolutions into account, but I think there was a way to set the maximum and minimum sizes for text. You might want to check those out

Other than that, I think the idea is alright, the controls were a little jittery (at least with the mouse) and I LOVED the ambience created by the sound.

Here are screenshots that I took:

https://huntt.is/images/loopysrun1.png

https://huntt.is/images/loopysrun2.png

Resurrection by etrealjunior 2020-10-21T15:15:03Z

The game is alright, the loop is nicely conceptualised. The music is really beautiful, but perhaps not made by you as it's not up for rating?

The issue I had was that the controls changed for each level. Or rather, the way you play them. I think a hint in the beginning of each level (like you did with the one with the ants) would've been good for the other levels as well.

Next time, it's a good idea to avoid spamming, as your commentary will then not focus on it, but rather your game.

SORO BORO by nethead 2020-10-21T14:36:04Z

The game looks great, plays great and sounds great.

The controls are a little difficult and the only thing I was really missing was that the death event would have a sound, since the death animation was kinda long. It felt like the controls were taken away from me and I didn't immediately understand why (I had died, so of course, but a sound would've made it clearer what happened).

Despite that, one of my favourites this time around and I'm happier to have played it.

Collateral Damage by Michael Parrish 2020-10-21T15:02:52Z

Nice remix of an older game concept! I really loved that you could be the one who ultimately destroys the world

All of it fit, the controls are simple to understand, the sounds fit the way it looks and yeah, I enjoyed this a lot!

Thanks for the entry!

Aztec Ride by Idan Rooze 2020-10-21T14:31:47Z

Holy moly!

This was super fun!

Great art, great sounds and music, FUNNY and fun to play. Wow.

@elcinkilic You can turn off the "extreme camera mode" in the main menu. I didn't notice it at first either.

iLoop - the 2D endless runner game of a robot stuck in a loop :) by melvinng 2020-10-21T15:31:54Z

You did choose very good art for this, mind you. Don't worry about programmer art next time, it's fine

The game is a bit repetitive and it takes very long for it to get more difficult. Some variety, maybe some skills for the robot could've raised this to the next level :)

Good work in any case, hope to see your stuff in the next Ludum Dare as well

LD48 — Deeper and deeper

Minecrawler Janitor by hunttis 2021-04-25T20:20:51Z

Chrome plays the sounds. Looks like if I add the other formats, browsers will start telling me there are no permissions to play the sounds :(

Sergei the Salvager by kankje 2021-04-29T06:07:16Z

That was really good! Congrats on making a completable game!

The ambience is simple, but really effective in creating a lot of atmosphere (or lack of one, since we're underwater? :D ).

Really liked the gameplay, if I had to nitpick, it was a little dark, but that just added to the atmosphere, so not really a negative.

LD51 — Every 10 seconds

Cure Casimir by Bender Biber 2022-10-16T06:08:51Z

Nice entry! The character was pretty cute and the game was understandable from the get go.

It was a little annoying that you lost control of the character when the sneeze happened, I missed timed jumps because of that and the cycles were kind of long.

Don't give up on godot though, it's a really good engine to make little games with!

Super Auto Crusaders by Savolae 2022-10-16T06:01:04Z

Nice entry! Great gameplay and nice graphics (especially enjoyed the flailing knights when they died). Sound and music were simple, but did the job very well!

Although I mostly found myself on the end of fights that didn't quite have enough time to finish, I had a lot of fun trying to figure out a group of fighters that would win.

Kairos Station Evac by parkuhrmd 2022-10-16T05:50:20Z

Really good idea! I didn't quite get that I can "retry" the other characters at first, but once I understood that, the game got even better! Nice choice to go with the really simple graphics too, they did the job very well.

LD52 — Harvest

Feast of Gévaudan by hunttis 2023-01-09T08:25:40Z

@ivorius Ah, yeah.. I guess it’s not very clear that if the peasants run to ring the alarm, you will die and the end game message is no different from the one where the cleric catches you

Feast of Gévaudan by hunttis 2023-01-09T08:26:47Z

@hitchh1k3r Awesome job! We could’ve definitely used some extra person to play the game before we release it as everything is pretty obvious to us, as we’ve made the game :D

We had some issues with the camera not acting the way we wanted, sorry about that :grimacing:

Wheat Master by nyxkn 2023-01-24T16:11:04Z

Quite a chill game, music didn't get annoying, the mechanics were simple enough. I don't know if there's a way to lose the game, but I did enjoy playing through it

Nice work.

LD53 — Delivery

Data Heist by hunttis 2023-05-01T06:31:27Z

@netrunner-nobody Cheers for the comment. I was pondering whether I should make the throwing stars auto-aimed, so that they would always go at the nearest enemy, but didn’t have time for it (also, might’ve made the game too easy)

Data Heist by hunttis 2023-05-01T06:33:47Z

@kent-lizardo Aww, really happy you liked my coder graphics  When I drew the graphics. I noticed that the player and enemy graphics are way too small. They need to be at least double the size, so as a TEMPORARY fix, I just scaled them to twice the size. At the end, the graphics ended up as is as I had to choose priorities

Yeah, I felt pretty bad releasing the game without a proper restart, but… it is what it is

Data Heist by hunttis 2023-05-01T17:17:35Z

@kent-lizardo Made a post-jam (post-compo?) build where the only change is adding a restart key. I don't feel like fixing other stuff fits into the post-jam build. This is something that just makes it easier to retry and doesn't really affect the game otherwise :)

LD54 — Limited Space

Hardpoint by kankje 2023-10-08T13:15:27Z

Whew, that was really something! Turning this (already sort of powerful) mech into a crazy bullet spewer was a lot of fun :D

Playing on my mac laptop (and trackpad), shooting while aiming was kinda.. interesting :D I think an alternative control to mouse buttons (some keys maybe?) could've helped me, but I do understand that this is probably not the most common machine this is being played on :D

Awesome work, always look forward to playing your teams stuff!

Mechanizyn by Lincolnsalles 2023-10-08T13:04:30Z

Well, you sure gave me what you promised in the post, that was quick :D

Definitely could've benefited from more levels, as you can sort of see the potential already there. Controls are simple enough and idea is immediately understandable, for that you can be commended :D

Cheers on making something playable! Liked the graphics too :)

LD57 — Depths

Bat outta Hell by hunttis 2025-04-08T05:36:29Z

@trabasura Good point, the ludum dare link is kinda hidden behind "More information" and there are two and you need to click the right one

I'll add the link right now. Thanks for playing!

LD58 — Collector

Sherd by xlambein 2025-10-18T11:26:40Z

Looks like sheep and dogs were the actual theme, we made one too, which you tried out! Thanks for that!

Whew, that entrance was tiny, I often got several sheep stuck just outside, because their collision areas couldn't fit through the gate side by side  I liked that there weren't complicated controls to learn, although I might've liked to have some sort of sprint function. Great graphics, too. Nice work!

Idle Badger by lectvs 2025-10-18T11:41:01Z

I don't even remember when was the last time I laughed out loud while playing a LD game. Great job. And definitely surprising in more ways than one. I was just expecting a simple cookie-clicker :D

ShroomBound by Tomssuli 2025-10-18T12:07:51Z

Huge team! Must've been some wizardry going on there to get all of those coordinated  But in any case, great work! This is now the second game this LD that has made me laugh out loud  Liked the subtle details going forward in the game and yeah, granny is pretty awesome

For the Herd! by Mascoll 2025-10-18T11:20:07Z

Nice work on a similar idea! I loved the cartoony graphics. Much better than what I made  Really nice atmosphere, liked the shadows, too.

I didn't get along with the controls very well, since I managed to get only a handful sheep into the ring and all the other sheep very far from each other

Bugs to catch by birofio 2025-10-18T11:59:44Z

Nice work! And a compo release too! My first three participations on Ludum Dare I didn't even finish a game to submit! And I was almost 30 then

I fed Emily and was entertained, so I think you succeeded. If you'll take words of advice, I could've used some help with the controls. I couldn't figure out what IJKL does, luckily it wasn't required to feed her  Also, in case you next time want to avoid a bug spawning button, you could make a timer, so it triggers every few seconds or so and spawns some bugs.

You tried out our game as well, thanks for your kind words!
