Hmm, weird. Try launching as administator.
Update your java. Í've tested on other computers and it worked fine.
@netmute I added a .jar file for Mac.
Again, try updating Java
@lesterpig try the new version uses an older glsl version. Also added an OS X version and added a batch file to the windows version so you can see the error.
Sorry, it should be fixed now.
I think I fixed it, at least l can run it when I switch to integrated graphics on my own laptop now. All computers where it didn't work before will now switch to a different shader (without shadows). I might try to make a better fix (with shadows) later.
Maybe it's just taking long to load the Lua code. Did you try waiting for about 10 seconds?
@hirngespinst, Walk against the cube and press e. (You might have to keep walking against it and then press e)
(I think) I fixed the mipmaps bug, I added options for disabling normal maps and shadows to the top of main.lua and I added rebindable keys (also at the top of main.lua, in the init function)
The game's coded in Lua, so the source is included in the Windows version.
Run the debug.bat file or run the jar directly
@hungyg, if you're running the jar file, try the batch file. For me the lighting doesn't work either when I run the jar file directly, no idea why, it should be exactly the same.
Which parts did think felt unfinished? Also, I felt an indicator wasn't really necessary since you're constantly shooting (and it makes it a bit more challenging). Thanks for you feedback!
@KoalaBot Try updating Java
Really nice mood and graphical style!
Interesting game and great art and audio! I do think it gets a bit repetitive, since it's pretty much the same thing over and over again, but it's still a really cool game!
Graphically, this was definitely the best game I've played. The texture for the player character didn't seem to load though, but outside of that it was pretty amazing for such short amount of time. Good job! :D
Nice art and sound effects. It's a fun concept and it's pretty fun to play, though the blocks don't really seem to slide much which can be kinda annoying. Overall a pretty cool game :D
PS: The game doesn't seem to work in Safari on Mac:

If this abort() is unexpected, build with -s ASSERTIONS=1 which can give more information.
Nice graphics, but the game felt a bit confusing at the beginning. Could definitely need some more gameplay features.
Cool game! The graphics look nice (especially the animations) and the parkouring was interesting, although it felt more like I was pushing the player rather than actually controlling it. But outside of that it was pretty awesome! :)
Nice music and interesting level design. I did see some graphical glitching (trees disappearing, objects glitching through each other, etc), but it's a pretty neat game. :)
Fun game! The music fits well and the gameplay is simple but effective. Maybe it doesn't quite fit the theme, but then again you can slap "ancient" onto almost anything.
@DragonZBW (SparkLight Games) Make sure you've got the newest version of Java.
@yotam180 Make sure you're running the jar file directly on Windows
Thanks for your feedback everyone!
@AWOL If you're interested: I might write a post-mortem about the game and I'll probably write about the Java/Lua engine bit as well.
@Aaranos It's true that some enemies can't be avoided (of course that shouldn't be the case), but it should be doable on at least the easy version. Have you tried that version?
I love the gamplay! It's really simple, but it's very enjoyable. The only problem I have with it is that it's a bit confusing at the start and the font is a bit hard to read, but outside of that it's a very good game!
Awesome game! The puzzles are really good, the music is very good and the lighting and the thing following you around give it a very good mood. The only problem I had is that the game crashed after a while, but the game itself is great!
Cool game! I liked all the art and music. I do think the gameplay could've used more depth, but it was still fun to play.
Cool concept! It's a bit laggy though and it was a bit confusing at the start. The audio was pretty nice. Good job!
The graphics and level design are great! I also love the customizability. The only negative is that the controls are a bit wonky. Great work! :D.
Nice game! I liked the paralax scrolling and the level design. The jumping physics felt a bit awkward though, and there doesn't seem to be any audio. Good work though!
@Mathiouza You could use something like http://www.fakemusicgenerator.com and http://www.bfxr.net to generate music and sounds. It's a lot better than having no audio IMO.
I really liked the atmosphere of the game. The music was very nice (although the looping was a bit awkward) and the bits of dialog were also pretty nice. However, I feel like the maze was a bit too big. Sometimes there wasn't really anything to see, and there wasn't any dialog either. Really nice game for your first entry though.
@TrampolineTales I'm assuming you're trying play on mobile. Unfortunately, that doesn't really work right now. I'm trying to find a work-around. It should work fine on a desktop/laptop with any modern browser.
Pretty fun game! :D But also pretty unforgiving...
Was also a little bit confused at first (didn't know how to use the dynamite).
Quite liked the graphics and the animation. Controls did feel a bit wonky (mostly at the start though).
Interesting little game! :) Could've done with some music though, would've made it more interesting to watch.
Very innovative idea! Awesome work!
Really impressive! One of the most fun games I've played so far this Ludum Dare. It looks very simple, but the mechanics are actually quite deep. Being able to replace old tiles really makes for some interesting strategies. Awesome work!
Really fun game! I'll need to play this some later. Really like these kind of small TDs.
The only thing that kinda bothered me is the lack of audio (even simple generated 8-bit sounds would've helped a lot). Aside from that it's pretty addictive. And it's also cool to see another game made in Haxe (just switched to it recently and I'm really liking it so far).
@warbzz Thanks!
Thanks @piscythe, @chauchau and @vodzik!
Thank you all for playing and rating my game!
@dragojt Moving backwards is generally the way to go as others have said, that should make things a bit easier (of course, there's some balance tweaks that could be made though). Also, I made the music using the Figure app for iOS (it's quite nice if you're terrible at making music like me).
@cameron2134 Yeah, I spent a lot of time tweaking it at the end, but I still wasn't quite satisfied. I personally do like the fact that a small screw-up can mean instantaneous death, but I can see how that might be frustrating.
@danbolt If you're under the impression that I used Unity WebGL, I actually used Haxe with the Kha multimedia framework.
@hunttis I only started very recently with Haxe actually. I used to use Java with LWJGL, but I've switched to Haxe and Kha now and I'm quite liking it. Also, since Kha wraps around OpenGL/WebGL/DirectX/Metal/OpenGL ES/..., it's pretty capable of doing some complex 3D graphics (and multi-platform). For example: http://armory3d.org/.
Very nice art style and relaxing gameplay. Well done!
Very interesting gameplay. The black holes made for a nice challenge. Especially since I hadn't figured out I could change the strength at the start...
Very good atmosphere. The music and the art made for a very interesting experience, even though the gameplay was fairly simplistic. The only thing that kinda annoyed me is that you're sometimes flying backwards.
Also really liked the music, and the fact that it changes mood during the playthrough. I think that really sold the game for me. I find it pretty impressive you were able to make all that music during the compo. Good job!
Nice little experiment. Reminded me a bit of Drawn to Life. :)
Nice music, art and variety of enemies! Kept avoiding the lightning bolts though.... But anyway, well done!
Nice first LD game! The box does feel a bit too heavy, but it's an interesting movement mechanic. The game's pretty hard though...
Very nice art and interesting mechanics. The controls felt a bit wonky sometimes and the normal walking speed is very slow, but it's a very interesting game (and there are lot of interesting levels). Well done! :)
Web version doesn't appear to work for me, unfortunately (in fact, it freezes my entire browser...)
Regarding the help text getting cut off: you should be able to move the windows.
Regarding the randomly changing delta money: this is because there are some random factors affecting the delta money, which is being represented this way because I didn't have enough time to implement a better visualization.
@gistnoesis: Unfortunately, in the current version there isn't really a self-sustaining solution, as the game was too easy when this was possible, so I had to make some changes to make it a bit harder.
@luckyfeathers: There are differences between grass and water. For example, if a Vis Mine is not next to a water tile, it may randomly explode (even if there is still Vis in the world).
Thanks for the feedback, everyone!
Like the look of the stars. Took a bit to get used to the controls (it sometimes feels like you have no control). Nice game! :)
Very nice aesthetic and mood. Did get stuck in some parts of the level though, but overall, it's quite a good game!
Loved this! The narrative was great and the audio and visuals really complemented it well. Didn't really manage to get to any good endings, even though I spent quite a while playing it...
Really fun to play. The music felt a bit silly (not in a bad way) given that you're playing as death murdering people. The only complaint I have is that the auto-magnet can feel a bit too frustrating. You never know when you're going to be forced to kill someone. I think it would be a lot better if there was some sort of circle showing the attack radius.
The game looked very simple at first, but it turned out to be very enjoyable. The platforming in general feels very nice, and I really liked the levels you designed. The music was also quite hypey. The only complaints I have are that for a maximum jump you have to hold space for a very long time, which feels a bit strange, and that the rockets can feel a bit unfair at times (there doesn't seem to really be away to avoid them), though I guess I'm guilty of something like that as well...
Thank you all for your feedback! I get that the controls are a bit hard, but I personally think it makes the game more interesting. If the arrow keys moved you in the directions relative to the grid the game would be way too easy. Also, I'll have to look into the WASD thing, as Pico-8 doesn't seem to support this (though it might be possible to artifically trigger the arrow key events when a WASD event is fired).
Heh, interesting interpretation of the theme!
The game feels very polished and I quite like the atmosphere created by the graphics and music. This is probably one of the most 'finished' games I've played. Well done!
Liked the little intro with the audio and camera movement at the start of every day! Might've been a bit more interesting if the burglar had some more complex AI, but aside from that the game was very nicely done!
Nice art and audio, though I agree with vlandemart that some parts could've been a bit more polished. Also, interesting interpretation of the theme :).
