The implementation is a bit rough but there's a good idea behind this one. I've struggled a lot with the auto-magnet to people, avoiding them is very hard sometimes due to the level design and since it's the main thing to do in the game it frustrates a bit.

whoa the graphics and animations look very good. it could use some polishing but very impressive. Good luck man.

Check out my game if you would like! https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/40/virus-detected

Loved everything, great concept! The art blew me away! The range of the pull towards people was a little tricky to figure out but I guess any indicator would have made it too easy.

I very much enjoy the atmospherics and the glow effects. I think the magnetic effects are a bit much. Maybe attract to people on-command instead of done automatically, or rely on effective area attacks so the player doesn't require precision.

I like the idea of the reaper treating his existing as a regular job. I also think you implemented paperwork into a video game the only way that seems acceptable, haha!! Nice work! :D

jack-maxwell 2017-12-06 02:44

I agree with that is said before. The attracting to people is a little much although it is a core mechanic, I suggest using large circles to represent their pull radius, this will make the game a bit more like a stealth game but with risk and reward. Should the player wait for the people to go away or should the player try to run through the ring of detection. Overall a very solid entry.

Fun game, it was a tad difficult, but I like the mechanic. The death character looks really good, with good animations and cool glow effects, the fog also makes it very atmospheric. You've got good music and SFX as well.

luciax 2017-12-06 02:57

Confused in the first level with no instruction, but soon get the idea in the next level! Interesting game and good animation. Want more achievements means more documents hahaha, really reflects our daily work.

moonlightbomber 2017-12-06 08:10

It's basically Pac-Man, but you play as the Grim Reaper. And the "ghosts" don't actually kill you, but will hinder your goal.

Very well made and pretty hard also really nice graphics my only criticism was the music seemed to only semi fit the mood of the game overall really good though

shameless self promotion: please help rate my game (i still need 10 more ratings in the next two days so ya) https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/40/beer-belly-or-bust

This is a super great puzzle game, and this is one of my absolute favorite games for this LD. The idea is simple and really fun. Both the graphics and music is good and they both fits the game well. My only complains is too few levels, and in some of the levels it is too difficult too avoid killing anybody. Overall a very well made game. Well done.

Wow, that's a really good game! The basic stealth mechanic works well enough, but what I liked even more are the visuals and audio and especially the whole premise of the game. Playing as death and avoiding killing just to get the paperwork done is just hilarious and probably even profound. :) Love it, great job overall!

Great minigame. I would love to have some kind of radius indicator, because often I thought I am hiding out of range only to see Death going for the kill and basically screwing me on that level.

vasco-rodrigues 2017-12-27 01:46

This was super fun to play. Very interesting approach to the theme. I'm not sure if the "attract to people" feature is good or not, maybe reduce the radius?

Overall a very good work, liked it a lot. Congratulations!

I agree with others that there's potential here as you are in charge of how long/difficult a level is based on how many souls you decide to go after...except that this is not really the case since I don't have a "consume soul" button which would make it more fair. I also think that the people should try to run away in fear when they see Death to make it more challenging and perhaps the time could be more generous as it only looks you only ever really have time to collect the paper which would give me no motivation to ever go after more souls thus making the game be more about chasing papers than actively deciding whether to consume a soul or not.

Perhaps make it be something like Death starts to fade away if he goes too many levels without consuming more souls or something like that. ;)

bytinggames 2017-12-27 10:05

Nice game, I like the idea, that you are kind of the good guy, just because you don't want to waste time collecting killed people's souls. The game was a bit laggy though.

The timing is tight but I managed to beat it. It happened several times that I only had 1 document left but I didn't know where it was and had to get lucky to find it quickly. It would be nice if an indicator told me in which directions the documents are.

hackingroelz 2017-12-27 12:00

Really fun to play. The music felt a bit silly (not in a bad way) given that you're playing as death murdering people. The only complaint I have is that the auto-magnet can feel a bit too frustrating. You never know when you're going to be forced to kill someone. I think it would be a lot better if there was some sort of circle showing the attack radius.

I have played 307 of the LD games, and for me, your game was overall the third best game that I have played.
