Very colorful and nice! I included it in my Ludum Dare 38 compilation [video series](https://youtu.be/MAnaf7kVN4I), if you’d like to take a look :)

Very colorful and nice! I included it in my Ludum Dare 38 compilation [video series](https://youtu.be/MAnaf7kVN4I), if you’d like to take a look :)
It's really quite pretty. But is it intended that the wing in the back is the wrong way around? That kinda looks like it would hurt.
The gameplay is simple but the atmosphere keeps the exploration interesting for the time it lasts. Could have had some more elements to add difficulty maybe, as it seemed a bit too straightforward, but I suppose it's not necessary.
Oh another question. Was it intended that you only have to finish one 'tree' on the maps where there are several? I finished all of them anyways, but it didn't seem to change anything.
I really enjoyed playing this. Apart from the side scrolling bit which doesn't have a fail state (and I can respect that, but it didn't seem to make much sense for a side-scroller), I had quite a bit of fun. The music is beautiful, by the way. You even bothered to make different moods for different moments, and I liked that.
And bonus points for the pun on the title. I was actually surprised that this was a compo, and not a jam.
I like the visuals and the audio of this game. It really creates a nice and lovely atmosphere. Flying around, building stuff at trees, being a butterfly. It all just comes together so well. The only downside is a bug in the second stage. I flew left for a second and got stuck outside of the screen. I couldnt go back and after trying to escape I lost track of myself and got lost. Besides that: Great job
Really nice atmospheric game! The look, sound and feel of the game is really good and all the elements seems to support each other, and overall it feels like a very well put together package. Especially good is the music which ads a lot to the general mood of the game. The only small criticism I have is that the sound that plays when you plant a tree kind of interrupts the beautiful music. Especially when you plant more in a row. The sound effect it self isn't bad, it might just be a little bit too long. Alternatively a larger pool of possible effect could also work.
The actual game play is really simple but enjoyable. Really chill! (Until you start getting chased by the big butterfly that is)
P.S. Thank you for the feedback on my game! I Really appreciate it! Feels wrong to criticize your sound effects when mine are so horrible, but hey
Great art and music. This game was like journey and dear esther.Game did not challange me but atmosphere felt great.
Beautiful game, great mood, smooth movements, a pleasure to play. Would have loved the sound fx of picking orbs being in tune with the background music: this would improve the already beautiful sound experience. (it's really nice when you add the choirs btw)
Thank you all for the feedback. Really happy to see you're liking the music, since I'm mainly a composer and put a lot of time into it.
@iak The rotating wing is actually a bug. I used Spriter Pro for the first time and this is how it came out and I couldn't fix it in time, so I just left it in. I think it looks pretty funny though. The one tree thing was intentional, so you don't have to finish everything to move on. I wanted to have a different ending based on the trees you got, but you know - no time. So it just says how many you got. :)
@christian-koch That's actually a pretty severe bug. I could reproduce it and made a bandaid-fix by adding bigger box colliders around the screen. Thank you for letting me know!
@Gurbx, @Tommyflower You kind of touched a point with the SFX I'm not too satisfied with, but just didn't have the time to change. I already spent 8 hours or so on the audio part of the game and really needed to get on with programming, so I just left it like this. Would definitely be the first thing I'd change though if I still had time. Music and SFX just didn't mix as well together as I hoped.
Lovely atmosphere. Great music too, well done. Sound effects are not as good, but they work. Game itself is a bit easy, but it fits the vibe you're going for.
The time you put into the music paid off - it definitely drives the game. Otherwise, it's got a nice coherent style.
Well done! Thanks for sharing!
Lovely game. Got killed by an evil butterfly and planted 29/30 trees. :cat:
Reminds me of games like Flower. :)
The music was pretty. Though in the ending song I just kept thinking about this: https://youtu.be/12R48a6DNz8?list=PLCgAiCry9o3qIFF1AUivzlGnpGC5R36Qa&t=32
Very good atmosphere. The music and the art made for a very interesting experience, even though the gameplay was fairly simplistic. The only thing that kinda annoyed me is that you're sometimes flying backwards.
Also really liked the music, and the fact that it changes mood during the playthrough. I think that really sold the game for me. I find it pretty impressive you were able to make all that music during the compo. Good job!
I loved the music and I liked the visuals. The SFX could be better but still nice, the gameplay was kinda easy, it might be nice for some relaxing game but it would need a little touch. Also I felt like the background (those stars) didn't really fit into the rest of the graphics. What really disturbed my experience was this strange going left flip animation. But overall very solid entry, I have enjoyed it.
I really liked how you connected the music with your game (e.g. the simple harmonies the portals create). As you said the game can be played in one go without a explicit tutorial and you even managed to include a simple story. The graphics were a bit simple in comparison to everything else, but I wouldn't be suprised if you at least won in the audio category.
Very neat atmosphere, pretty graphics and sound. A bit slow paced, I would've liked the fly speed a tad faster, but very good overall!
Not sure if I buy that this is the first game you've ever completed since you crammed a full blown 'art' game into 48hrs, but... Anyway, Amazing job here! I had the portal out of the 'top-down' worlds showing up after only coloring one tree rather than all of them. Not sure if bug or WAI.
Great graphics, sound, and concept! Surprised to see the various types/modes in a LD Compo game. Heck of a job all around! Colorfly me impressd :)
Beautiful.
Beautiful music, very serene and calming in parts, sad and moving in others. Set the feel of the game so well. The intro gave me goosebumps.
The animation, colours and movement suited the style so well. The game said a lot without using any words.
That evil butterfly music! :O Alas I couldn't get away from it at the end, I was actually feeling sad about that.
A beautiful game, and it feels so complete and well polished! Very impressive.
A really pleasant experience, I think you pretty much nailed what you were going for here. I just wish there would have been more of a resolution at the end. (even though it might just have gone over my head ;) ) More of a nitpick but i would say that some of the autoscroll sequences could also have been a bit shorter.
This game is probably one of the best games i've ever playd on ludum dare. I just love the atmosphere and the great combination with music! It's just overall an good experience! ^^ Much feels.. much greatness.. much beauty.. You really did a great job on this one! p.s You really got the music perfect! ^^
Wow this has to be one of the prettiest games of ld38. You really nailed the atmosphere. The experience was mesmerizing. I almost went into a trance :) Well done!!!
The game does a really good job setting up the mood. Everything from music, animation, and particle trails all portray this haunting/fleeting feeling.
I especially love the background music, though it clashes sometimes with the SFX notes for tree-building. The game also has nice pacing (switching between tree planting to evil butterfly chasing you). To nitpick, the butterfly speed felt a bit awkward on the horizontal sidescroller section. Also, I'm not sure if it's possible to escape the evil butterfly at the end. Overall, I really enjoyed the experience. Thanks for making the game!
Played twice, but ended up being eaten by evil butterfly, is it intended? Game has nice, relaxing atmosphere, cool soundtrack and bright graphics. Those trees look kinda creepy for me though. It was last game which i decided to review today, like that it gave me some relaxation at the end of the day :3
Great experiential game with visuals and music that complement each other nicely. Bit of a dud that it ends in my (inevitable?) demise but hey. Also, and if I need to nitpick like this you know the entry is good, but it would really finish the game if the sound effects were properly tuned to the music playing. Esp in the autoscroller levels the sound of the tree blooming is off-key. Anyway, great entry with excellent music. No moist textures but you can't win 'em all.
By the way, the initial organ-y + piano section in front of the planets reminded me of the scenes in Final Fantasy 4 where you watch scenes in space. Similar music and vibe, the tenor sample in the end brought back memories of the Opera House in Final Fantasy 6 and BGM01 gave me Zelda: OoT memories. Nice.
Do you have a link to any of your other work? Much obliged. I have listened to the track "Sidescroll" several times now and it really is very good, the best in this game I think, once the bass line and drums are added I am reminded of tracks from Chrono Trigger (on the SNES). One minor niggle I have about it is that the strings in the beginning of the track sound a bit MIDI-y or something, not sure what it is, though later in the track that is less apparent. Anyway, again, great work!
Got a lot going for a 48h game here. While it might lack a little bit in gameplay (being a little bit too slow or easy for my liking, and how the amount of trees you've grown doesn't really mean much), I can certainly respect the extensive amount of soundtrack work put into it, which is the driving force of this entry.
That's... all I gotta say really. Very nice work!
I'm pretty overwhelmed by the positive feedback. Thank you!
@wildmusketeer I'm actually not satisfied with the sidescrolling sections as well. I had the butterfly going faster at first, but it was way too easy. So I sped up the camera, but then it would end way too soon, and I wanted the song to play out. So I ultimately just decided on making the butterfly a bit slower. It's not perfect, but at least it goes well with the 'relaxing experience' theme I was going for. @JayTord The end is inevitable, yes. I planned for a level between the last one and the outro that wrapped up the story, but I just didn't have any time left. So it does seem a bit abrupt now unfortunately. @zenmumbler Well, with the amount of music I have in here I didn't have much time to mix it properly and use the right instruments, but I appreciate your feedback! I haven't released anything else yet, but I have a Kickstarter campaign for a Megaman-like music album coming in the next few weeks. I'll tweet about it at @SoundOfMes if you're interested.
Good job on it! The gameplay is simple but the results is amazing! The story, the music.... Thank you!
So relaxing, it really evokes a mood. I like the colorful art style. And of course the music is wonderful, I can't believe you fit in so many pieces. AND you fit in two styles of gameplay! I would have liked the gameplay to be more challenging. Also if the musical cue upon grabbing a sphere changed to fit the current song playing, sometimes it didn't blend. But overall, great job for a compo.
Your game is really aesthetically pleasing, combined with the great soundtrack i have to say i really like it :)
As others have said before the gameplay could have been a bit more challenging but considering the other components of your game i have to say it was really a pleasure to play it, now i am relaxed and ready for the bed :D great job doing all of that during the compo :)
The music in this game gives a soothing mood and fits well with the scenery.
There could be a level of difficulty as mention by @loktar and others, but i enjoyed the simplicity and meditative experience. A more comprehensive flying animation would be nice. Overall love the game and the music especially. (I do music too lol)
If you can, check out our game. Thanks!
This was a very beautiful game! It was very relaxing, simple maybe, but it was satisfying, the art and effect worked really well with the music and I enjoyed my time with it! I liked the progression of gameplay with the different modes.
The "boss" battle surprised me and was a nice touch. Would like to see more, good job and good luck!
Great work with the music, having so many different tracks tied together by a thematic unity, and at such a quality, is really impressive for a 48-hour compo entry.
It does kind of show where your focus went though, because the gameplay, while pretty due to the simple and colorful graphics, isn't too engaging. It feels a little more like minigames meant to be contained within a larger game, rather than the core of a game, as if the gameplay is kind of just there as an excuse to tell the story and use your music.
Besides that though, this game is definitely the one with the best overall presentation of the ones I've seen so far. The music really made it feel like I was playing a game with high production value. It was a very calming and soothing experience overall, overshadowing the drawbacks of the lacking gameplay.
The boss was a really nice touch as well, it was for sure the only parts of the game where I felt engaged by the gameplay. I liked how its animation seemed like a more jagged version of the players animation, which coupled with its colors gave it a sort of harrowing feel. The way the game ended took me by surprise too, and it led to me actually sitting around for the credits just enjoying what I just experienced.
Exceptionally solid entry! Of what I've seen so far, I think this one is a top contender for sure.
The graphics are beautiful. Great work! The color of the tree is more interesting if it is different, because the collection of different colors.
I absolutely adored the aesthetics of this game. The art and audio were fantastic, especially the music, which I found brilliant. The gameplay was fun as well, however at times I found that it god slightly repetitive in some sections. I did enjoy this a lot however and it has been one of my favourite games so far
Really impressive work on the music. The gameplay is simple but I really enjoyed playing this game. it is so relaxing!
The work on the music paid off very well, but I think you've gotten that a million times already. Good work!
The graphics are fine, they look much better in the stills than in motion. The poor :butterfly: has a serious impediment in its left wing. The audio is also quite good, fits the mood to say the least.
I missed two trees and got the *bad* ending I guess. I simply cannot be bothered to play again. It is a slow and mostly trivial experience, when it comes to challenge. There is no decision making, no quick thinking required, just these small dexterity challenges between the even simpler flying around stages.
I can see what you are going for, but it sure could have used some more thought on the interaction side of things.
Not to repeat what everyone else has already said, but the soundtrack makes this game! It's clear you have a talent for composition, and the pieces really set the tone for the game. The simple but colourful graphics reinforce add to the game's themes, too.
All in all it felt like a well-thought-out, consistent experience with enough variety in gameplay to hold the attention.
Cheers!
Highly enjoyable. The sound and graphics reflect the gameplay progress very well. The game is calm and enjoyable. I like the camera movement during the sidescrolling sections - very smooth and highlights the tress nicely. I also appreciate the recursive trees.
Very nice game! I really enjoyed the atmosphere and the music and art. Though sometimes I did not understand the significance of planting a tree when I could progress anyway. I think I missed one and was then puzzled as to if it would matter. :O Also at the "end" I got eaten by a butterfly that I had no way of escaping. Was that intentional as an end? :) Great entry, one of the most enjoyable so far!
Good job on the assets of the game. As has been said numerous times before, sound is outstanding and graphics accompany it well. I do like your decision on basic gameplay. While I agree that it is not the most exciting game around, the mechanics present the assets in a well rounded way. All together it summed up on a calming, beautiful game.
What a beautiful experience it was! As others have said the gorgeous graphics and peaceful music create a wonderful atmosphere, which makes one want to come back to this game. The only cons are real nitpicks, like uneven audio levels between stages or flipped wing of the butterfly. I could also add that I was quite confused when the game changed into a sidescroller as I was not expecting it at all!
Played the game twice, completing it 100% on the second attempt. I wish I could save my lovely winged friend.
I think that the whole game in general is really cool. In the beginning I really didn't understand clearly what was the whole point of the game, while progressing it became interesting but since I wasn't sure if it really had an end (I didn't read the description before playing), I thought about stopping a couple of times. In my opinion something that could really help improving the game is somehow giving feedback of what you are doing is correct or going towards the right direction.
The graphics are simple but very nice, I think it's very obvious you put a lot of efforts on the audio part because it's quite good. The mechanics, despite tits simplicity I think that are good, just make the transitions shorter and motivate the player with the goal somehow and I think it will improve a lot. Nice game.
Amazing work! That's really wonderful, everything feels so great. The music is incredible, and the gameplay still feel great. Can't believe it's your first finished game!
One of my favorite entry so far, and my favorite compo entry for sure!
Can't wait to see you next LD! :)
Hello! I played the game, and I think it's a nice start! It can be used as a base for a future project and I hope it becomes a full game. It has many pros: the gameplay, audio, overall nice atmosphere. As for cons: a felt like the butterfly moved too slow and it was hard to control when playing the screen-scrolling parts of the game. And also a little extra features for the gameplay would be great.
Love the sound - really give the game its ethereal atmosphere. Really nice to play with plenty of variety to keep it interesting. It looks beautiful too. It's brilliant for your very first game!
Brilliant atmoshphere. And game is pretty polished compared to a jam game. Audio is really really good. I am keeping these for future listening. Also at the chasing scene the music gives you the chills man. Well done!
Wow, this is such a beautiful game! The gameplay might be basic but the mechanics are quite nice and I would definitly play this for a longer amount of time if there were more "levels". The soundtrack is amazing, as well. If you enjoyed working on this, you should consider devolping it further!
This was actually quite fun. The atmosphere is really good, and the audio and visuals fit together nicely. I also like the way you took one concept, building tress, then utilized it in many different ways, which makes the game quite interesting. Good job :)
Your music is gorgeous. Really helped creating a strong atmosphere.
The graphics are very pretty also. I was wondering: why vould the right wing flip when you turn sideway? It felt a bit weird...
The gameplay was a bit too simple for me though: the sidescrolling part was too long.
The entire lulaby is very sweet, good job! :D
Relly cute game, with nice sounds, and pretty graphics!
The music REALLY sets the mood in this game. It helps tell the story for you and I love that. The visuals are quite nice as well, it's just bursting with color which I can tell is what you were going for. I was sad when the colorfly was overtaken, what will happen to color in the universe!?!?!
My only complaint really is looking back it feels like growing the trees with color didn't actually accomplish anything. I know some triggered portals, but could I have simply skipped most of them still completed the game the same? I know the game is minimalist as far as UI goes, so adding a points system or something probably wouldn't be ideal, but some way of tracking your impact on the game world and making it feel like you're making a real difference would help I think.
The music reminds me Touhou series, which has one of the best music in gaming history. Although the gameplay is rather basic, it's still impressive that you got time to make a boss stage. Is the game beatable? I got caught by the big green butterfly and it just restarted over.
What an excellent game ! Everything is clever and well thought. The explanation of the game-play is done while playing, the sfx and music are exceptional for a jam entry and graphics are colorful and pretty. What I also liked is that the game tells a (minimal) story without needing to show any written text.
The only thing is that I don't really see how it fits the theme !
Congratulations.
This was a really nice experience. My most favorite part of the game was the one where I could jump between multiple worlds to collect enough orbs. Mostly because I loved the teleport sound :)
Very pretty music. Interesting how the butterfly seems to lean to the side and flip its wing backwards when moving.
The music is beautiful, and the visuals are very nice to look at as well. They both work together to create an excellent atmosphere for the game. The gameplay isn't that exciting but it can be surprisingly fun just flying around and collecting stuff. I'm pretty impressed by how many levels you managed to make, including a pseudo-boss battle. The intro and outro also helped to make the game fell really polished overall.
Unfortunately, I only managed to get 28/30 trees.
Very interesting experience! I had some fun playing this game, even though the gameplay was maybe a bit to simple and to easy for me. The graphics were good, the music absolutely excellent. It was so good, that it created an exceptional atmosphere. Even though it wasn't the most exciting game with a high replay value, it was still a really interesting concept and a cool experience. Good job.
If you would like to try our game, here is a link: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/38/42-mikronikus
Feel free to leave some feedback!
I can't decide if it looks reeeeally tacky or incredibly atmospheric. Oh well, was fun anyway!
Great atmosphere and visuals, but ultimately I wish there was a bit more challenge.
Some notes: - Great visuals, especially the butterfly himself, and some little things like the transition when you SHOOM between bubbles is great. - The gameplay is frankly a bit boring. I found myself more or less just wandering aimlessly until I had what I needed. - Great music and sound. It would be nice if the music and gameplay were synchronised in some sense, this game seems like it would really benefit (especially in the side-scrolling stages). It has potential as a relaxing music-game type.
Overall very polished! Great job in just a couple of days. :)
great music and art, excellent use of colours for such a short time frame! it can be developed further and there is potential to become an atmospheric kind of game. Good Job!
not sure if i really understand the game's plot or how it fits the theme.
A nice feeling game. I really liked the audio design & some of the animation effects. The game itself was a little easy, but pleasant to play. Nice work!
Very nice atmospheric game. Everything looks and sounds beautiful.
The gameplay, while simple, is enjoyable enough. Enough at least to warrant enjoying more of the atmosphere.
Wonderful game, visually stunning and the effort you put into the music really pays off. And good thing you wrote about the end being inevitable, I first thought I did something wrong when the big one caught me .
Keep up the good work!
What a wonderful game, this was absolutely beautiful!
Amazing looking and sounding! But I don't see what the meaning of the game is.
I loved this game! Although I didn't get to plant that last tree before the big bad butterfly ate me ;) It's amazing what you did just within the space of one weekend, especially the soundtrack (kudos for offering it as a separate download, too). Very moving, simple game. <3
I usually hate on "art" games. This is not the case here. This is an interesting game, that left me thinking "what the fuck I just witnessed". I'll sure have to think for a little bit to comprehend the plot.
The music is great, the graphics are nice and clear. The only thing I truly disliked in this game were sidescrolling sequences, which felt unnesesary, since there doesn't seem to be any penalty for missing orbs and trees.
Love the look and feel of the game! Great music too!
The music and sound was awesome! The graphics looks good to and fit the style of the game. However, the game was not fun to play.
This is amazing in so many levels! This game is a winner. I don't think it fits the theme really well, but fuck the theme. The music, the colors, everything. I love it. Congratulations!
In case you're interested in feedback: when you grab those orbs and the trees grow, there's aditional sound. I think that sound should complement the music. Otherwise, it breaks the atmosphere. Maybe you thought about this and couldn't fix it in the jam time.
You've got my five stars.
5 stars audio, 5 stars mood. I enjoyed it quite a bit.
This game is absolutely awesome! My advice - Take this game as your future project and take it Post-LD ;)
I loved the music and I liked the visuals. Amazing graphics and really well executed theme idea. A bit of glitch in bufferfly movements and some music is being mixed in between. And the levels could have been made bit more interesting Otherwise ...Great Job !!
Cant believe this is a Compo game, how did you do that many songs plus the game in such a short time?? Such a chill awesome experience, the game was not challenging but still pretty fun as i played i was thinking i was about to rate it a 3 in Fun but at the end with that epic chace (is the evil bfly supposed to always catch you?how can you run away from it) i uped it up to 4
24/30 Trees were planted.
Very impressive! Music was lovely and graphics clean and colorful. Easy to play, though could use more risk/reward gameplay added in. Great job!
Outstanding concept Outstanding music Outstanding execution
The only thing I can nitpick is that I don't really see a strong connection with the "Small world" theme; and for the Graphic part, the butterfly characters could be a bit more detailed than simple gradients.
Overall an outstanding theme.
I'm really impressed with how much you fit into this small game. It really feels like a complete package in a way that a lot of entries don't – the start menu, end credits, cutscenes, multiple types of gameplay, and visual storytelling all come together nicely, so well done!
My only gripe was that some of the side scrolling segments dragged on a little too long – I think it would have been nicer to have split those up into smaller sections interspersed with more of the ring-based levels, and maybe 1 or 2 more segments featuring the antagonist.
Ok. I don't know exactly what to say... That was just amazing. Great work! Great feeling and perfect music. I could easily play this for ages. Well done!
Quick but not bad at all. It is not too satisfying that the game is pretty easy until suddenly you are screwed if you missed only one little ball :(
I like the mood of it very much and I personally think that the graphics together with the sound are selected very tasteful. Hope to see more simple games of this kind!
This game has the best music I have seen so far in this Ludum Dare! Amazing Work! Just two minor things, I would have liked a bit of variation with the sound that plays if you plant a tree, just two or three different samples would have been great. Also the fast "fly out" animation of the butterfly does pull me out of the experience a bit.
Other than that this is just a great experience! (Yes, I know I used the word "experience" already but it is just the best word to describe what I felt playing it!)
As others have been saying, the music is great! The game play was simple and relaxing, but in my opinion I think the side scrolling parts could have been left out and instead focus on the part with the worlds. Having to build all the trees in a world may have made more sense to me, at the moment there doesn't seem to be any point in doing so besides the score at the end (which I got 23/30, not sure if that's good or not).
Overall this game's audio is great, and the visuals are nice too but the game play itself wasn't very engaging.
Really cool, congratulations!
A very nice game, especially the music is stunning. On the gameplay side, there could be a few adjustments. As there isn't really any chance to lose (at least I did not run into one), it is more a visual and audio experience, but a great one nevertheless.
The visuals of your game are great. The core game play loop isn't very engaging though. There needs to be more to do or some kind of challenge to it. As it is now it's just look for all the orbs and take them to the trees. If some kind of challenge was added I think the game would be improved a lot as it already looks really nice. Good work on your first complete game!
Some parts of the music remind me of touhou tracks made by ZUN, really nice game. Had a nice atmosphere to it too. Very impressive for a Compo.
Ok, wow. It really shows that you emphasized on the music. The game is a bit simple, like you said, but the mood makes up for a lot of it. Like others said, variation would've been great, but I'm really glad I got to play this even if just for the musics.
The art, especially the music, is really impressive!
Beautiful sound and visuals. very simple but would have preferred to see more of the circle 'world' style game play develop into more of a challenge. The side scroller bit did get more challenging, but the whole time I was hoping to be taken back to that first style. Really lovely game though, well polished.
The music and mood in your game is excellent! The variation of levels is cool but the gameplay is similar and a bit slow at times but then again I feel like the slowness adds to the mood. What I would really love to see is a variation in the trees depending on the makeup of orbs that are used to create them as well as perhaps a change in the butterfly (either wing colours or glow/trail) depending on the orbs you pick up. You probably thought of these things but just didnt have time but I thought I would give my 10c! :) Once again, well done on the game!
The visuals and audio are great. It really payed off to focus on music and the mood. Sure, the gameplay is simple and easy but all games don't have to have complex mechanics to be good. Still, I would have liked it even more if there was a little more to do. For negatives, the build sound doesn't mix well with the background music.
A very good entry.
Very pleasant atmospheric game. I found the circle-traversing and boss parts more enjoyable than the side-scrolling segment.
Love this music!
Beautiful, soothing game (except for the chase level of course). I really loved the music, really got a Joe Hisaishi feel from it at times, also enjoyed the musical style changes. However, I didn't get to plant some of the trees and really couldn't figure out why (I though I'd managed to get all of the orbs). A great feel on the whole (visuals were nice as well), congrats!
The music is absolutely outstanding, it made the experience very memorable.
The graphics also fit the overall mood of the game very well. Though the turning of the wing sometimes looks a bit odd.
The gameplay itself wasn't that revolutionary, but it was solid enough to create a very beautiful atmosphere. Great entry!
The mood and the music are incredible! Even if the gameplay is just about collecting stuff it is very relaxing and feels very good to control the butterfly through the universe.
Love how peacfull and colorfull it is. It reminded me of flower for ps3.
I’m impressed, everything went so well together. This is the most relaxing experience I’ve ever had while playing a game. It was not very hard, but I think that is great. At least in this game. This is the most pleasing graphics I’ve seen so far and I love it!
Concerning the game being easy I got 29/30 trees planted in my first round. I’m totally going to play this game again.
Overall this is something I personally find very enjoyable because of the relaxation, the aesthetics and the mood. Thank you so much for this experience and good luck in the future! Have an awesome day, and I hope to see you in the next jam!

Mesmerizing graphics, captivating music, this game took my breath away. The best game I have been playing so far. I don't think the butterfly wings mechanic is weird, rather I think it's fits well with everything else. Great work!
Your music is too good when compare to others features in this game. It drive my mood nicely around till the end. Feel relax, loneliness, make everything match together. SFX is not good as your music but still good compare to other games(i play so far). Hope to see you again next jam.
This was my favourite game so far in this jam and I can't believe this was the first game you finished! Incredible, congratulations on completing your first game and Ludum Dare entry :D
Needless to say the music was magnificent! I got carried away in the game even though the gameplay was rather simplistic. I think the difficulty level was good because this game felt more like a experience that could only truly be appreciated if you could focus on the aesthetics and music.
Very relaxing game. If there was a rating category for presentation I would totally give this game a five in that category, I knew from the start that I would enjoy the game with the intro scene and music. It felt like a movie at first.
Excellent work, I hope you win in the music category and I hope to see you in the next ludum dare event :)
The aesthetics are really good in this one. The gameplay can get a bit boring but all the music and unexpected twists make the game an enjoyable experience. Great job!
Hey, sorry @zelos. I didn't mean to imply that I didn't believe you made this during Compo. I was in a state of disbelief that this was the first game you had finished. I mean, what with the menu and production company name, it shows the marks of someone who's been to this rodeo before. Your ability simply shattered my expectations and I phrased it poorly.
FWIW, I recommended your game to the Mrs. Of course, I also recommended Floppy McFloppyFace, so...
I liked the nice music, the colorful graphics, and the overall mood of the game! However, the game lacked gameplay and wasn't very fun. I recommend expanding on this project and adding more gameplay to the game and adding more challenges and difficulties. Overall, this is still a good game.
Relaxing and beautiful game with a lovely soundtrack. Not very challenging but I don't see that as a flaw, it fits the mood and you can enjoy the full game in one go. Great job!
Really polished!
Loved the graphics and sounds! :)
However, I wish the gameplay was less simple (lacked challenge and felt a tad repetitive; fortunately, there are several different segments that helped diversify the gameplay). I love how there is an "antagonist" :)
I was able to plant only 28 trees though :o
Also, a nitpick: I really wish the sound when building a tree wasn't always the same. All the sounds of this game are beautiful and pleasing to hear, but this one lacked diversity (just changing the pitch each time would have helped)
This is definetly my favourite game this jam.
Somehow, it nearly made me cry, probably because the music is very moving.
Thank you for this amazing experience.
If ever people question "Are games art?" then firstly - they're idiots and secondly - they need to play things like this. This is not what I would call "a game" but rather "an experience". You have created a mood, a feeling, an atmosphere - and you've done it using colour and music. I would not classify this as "fun" per se - I'm not going to rush back to "play" it but the journey it took me on is undeniable.
Congratulations on a fine piece of art!
Wow straight up beautiful. Well done!
I'm agree with Kwisarts for the sound of the building tree, but it's an amazing piece of art for an only 2 days production ! Congratulations =)
What you did in less than 48 hours is amazing. This project has a great aesthetic. Quiet mood. Great experience which fits with the theme. I had fun playing it. Thumbs up. Highly rated ++
Wonderful game, really enjoyed the relaxing gameplay and music.
All 5 Stars! Best music ever! Really enjoy it (I'm a pianist and composer too~) All the characters have a specific instrument assigned. The melody is spectacular - reminds me the style of ZUN from Touhou project. It's really fantastic to play!
Holy hell, this is compo...
Okay, first my thoughts:
1) you're either a good pianist or can program piano music well, but I assume that's you playing, awesome compositions.
2) don't try to deny it, you took acid :D I don't even car how you managed it, but it's perfectly psychedelic.
Music has the same vibe some Japanese piano soundtracks do... There's sadness and melancholy in there, but very delicate, not the western in-your-face kind. I love it.
It has the playstyle of 'Flow', and holds well. I'd have some suggestions, but they're just in case you'll be developing this further (please do!), they're at no point criticism for a game with compo restraints.
- in updated version, music could fit thematically - now, in some cases, especially when there's more melancholy in background music, the happy feedback music seems a tad out of place (while still perfectly good in itself)
- put some more restraints / challenge on the player. Make it harder - after all, game is the only medium who refuses you the access to further parts if you're not good enough. Don't be afraid, it won't discourage the players - your world is so entrancing we *want* to see more.
- some screen shaders could help make it even better looking and more dreamlike / surreal.
You managed to make a great soundtrack and SFX, tell an absolutely out-there story and encapsulate it all in a game. That's just awesome. I hope we'll see it developed further!
Cheers, and stay awesome!
You've created a lovely mood here. Would definitely have enjoyed it more if there were some degree of challenge though.
What a beautiful game. Amazingly presented, surprisingly lengthy for what it is, and particularly impressive for having two distinct gameplay modes. I would've appreciated some challenge, if not for finishing the game then at least for planting all the trees, but i do understand that's not the point of the game. The exploration level where you move from portal to portal to find the pellets and the trees felt particularly satisfying and i feel has potential. The ending did feel a bit counter to the rest of the game though, as there was no real build up to it; it felt unwarranted. I did have a lovely time with it, though, and must commend you for your impressive work. Keep it up!
This was one colorful psychodelic experience :)
Well done!
Wonderful, I don't find any other word to explain my feelings. Thanks for this great experience !
Nice meditative gameplay and beautiful music. I managed somehow to miss two spheres.
Are trees procedural? If yes -- I'd recommend to make more natural "grow" animation for them and make their appearance more random. Like in Eufloria game, for instance.
Here is my playthrough:

I'm not sure was it a real game end or I just failed it
Thank you :butterfly:
This is not a game. Or, should I say, this is not *just* a game. It's an amazing and beautiful experience. It reminded me of games like "Flower", and that's a really good thing. The music was stunningly beautiful, and while I didn't feel like I had a specific, game-y goal, I just kept on playing because I was immersed in this beautiful thing you had created. I think the next step for this game would be an integration between the background music and the music parts that are played when you create a tree or when you pick up an orb. This would lead to some incredible musical discoveries and it would make the game feel even more unique! With some more polish, and maybe some story backing it up, this game can become something truly amazing. Well done!
the game wasnt that fun for me, but thats just my taste. though i really enjoyed the music and the music notes for the game sounds. and ofcourse the colors are really trippy :D
