LD38 — A Small World

Global Disaster by Jamesy012 2017-05-01T11:07:38Z

I sucked at this game, and that's OK! For such an innocent looking game it was hard. I had fun though and I think it looks and sounds pretty good. I don't have much to add really, my only complaint is that I wasn't sure what I was supposed to do with the white clouds. I'm assuming they're pretty innocuous looking back but I was frantically trying to click them away.

ATLANTIS by OccultOne 2017-05-01T09:27:08Z

Love the way it looks, but sadly I have to parrot what everyone else is saying, I simply have no idea what I'm doing. A tutorial would help in a big way.

Edit: watching the video helps at least.

Near kingdoms by Hadik 2017-05-01T14:56:29Z

Wow, i kind of agree with everything @swiftillusion is saying here, he's offering some good insight. I just kind of felt that the game was unrewarding and I felt a bit underpowered I guess. I think it'd be nice maybe if the troops didn't die attacking the enemy castle if they weren't actually attacked back, that way the investment in attacking troops didn't feel like such a waste.

I'd like to say that the graphics were cute for a compo though, any kind of background music would have been welcome.

Ant Forts by rplnt 2017-05-02T13:54:28Z

I actually like it a lot. I have a fondness for games where you have to control mindless drones. Obviously lacking in the sound department but you already know that. I like the scent/pheromone mechanic as a means of controlling things, that seems intuitive. A nice strategy game overall I thought. Now of only you could make this mindless drone good at strategy games

Space Brawls by jcsirron 2017-05-02T11:26:46Z

Its' kind of a strange game and I find myself just shooting randomly to be quite honest. I love the back story though and you gotta love anything spaceballs related.

Realmpusher by danbolt 2017-05-01T09:15:54Z

I want to start by saying that this is simply not my type of game... but that doesn't matter, totally awesome. I have to admit I was confused as to how things worked at first, but I think that kind of thing is OK for a puzzle game. You're supposed to feel your way through things and figure things out. That this is a compo submission is pretty impressive to me. The art and music/sounds all fit in well with the retro era style you were going for. Just a solid entry, good job.

My only gripe is minor and silly. The sound that plays when the text is being typed doesn't line up AT all and I just found it super annoying. The text also seemed to go a little slow, a way to speed it up, or skip it if it's not your first time through might be nice.

Toy Time Turbo by BadRAM 2017-05-01T08:45:17Z

First of all great game. you definitely nailed car physics 100x better than my game. For verification, here are my times:

first: 02:12:64

second: 02:21:66

third: 02:39:55

I'll probably take a look through your source files after and see how you configured your wheel colliders to get them to behave correctly. I had a heck of a time getting them to even resemble a working car so what you have here is amazing in my eyes. As for theme, I think you nailed it. Just a toy car on a track minding his own, such a fun game. Some tunes and sound effects would bring it up another notch but it is what it is, you can only do so much in the allotted time. Good job overall.

Possible bug: I noticed several times (after my several crashes) that trying to turn right while reversing simply wasn't happening often times.

Edit: Checking out your source files now. Your "wheelHit" script is missing from the repository but referenced in your anti-roll bar script.

Commander's Log by smbe19 2017-05-01T15:19:40Z

I like it, obviously not as polished as it could be but pretty darn good for a jam game! My biggest gripe for the longest time was that I wished I could move the menu out of the way! Then i figured out i could move the space station and all was well :grinning:

It's a Small World, So Let's Crash It into Things by simonhutchinson 2017-05-02T11:37:07Z

I like it! Just a classic eat small things till you get big game but done well. A few things I'd like to comment on, I really wish the camera followed your planet fluidly instead of once it reached a certain limit. I also think it would of been nice if camera distance scaled with the size of your planet, the bigger you got, the less of the screen you could really see. Also, having all the planets actively seeking out meals while avoiding being eaten would liven up the game a lot. Obviously it would eat up a lot more cpu, but it's something to consider.

Food Fight by Scornz 2017-05-02T12:02:33Z

I topped out at 38900, so I didn't make the leaderboard. I think the game is pretty awesome though. 2 things I think that could bring this up another notch would be, more enemy types (it's a game jam, i know it's hard to fit a lot of stuff in there), and another attack type, like maybe throwing a grenade. At the end I would get swarmed pretty hard and I wished there was something more than just autofire. Even if the grenade didn't do a lot of damage, it could just slow them down for a bit and let me regain some composure. Just some ideas to chew on. Great game overall though, loved it.

Gantan Guardian by lurumdurum 2017-05-02T10:04:37Z

First time through I didn't realize I had more to use than straight shot and missiles, whoops, haha. I think the biggest problem people have already brought up, enemies spawning inside of you is simply not fair. Hard to hammer out all the bugs for a jam though, it happens. My only other comment is that there's a lot of unused space on the screen perhaps you could use that space by doing something simple, like putting reminders of what the button assignments are or something? All in all, fun little game, good job.

D4RK and the Small Worlds by abhimonk 2017-05-01T14:10:50Z

I sucked SOOOOOOOOOO bad at this. I think it's a game that just really desperately needs a controller to properly appreciate it. My attempts with a keyboard were quite sad. I liked what I saw and I hope to see more of you work in the future.

Goodbye, world! by chromableedstudios 2017-08-01T03:55:19Z

Well, silly physics games tend to be innately fun, so it has that going for it. I don't see the way it ties into the theme but blowing chunks in planets is fun, I won't complain. Wait, this is an old entry, why is it showing up in our feed?

Snake On A Plane by spacedoubt 2017-05-01T10:19:33Z

Music stopped playing @ 14 points which lead to the game being awkwardly quiet by 17 points. It's funny how music can make all the difference. The instant 90 degree shift was a bit jarring at first but I quickly got accustomed to it. I think my 2 chief complaints really are the camera angle and the amount of food items to acquire. Obviously there are other issues such as being able to wander off the grid whenever you like. I think it'd be better if you'd instantly die if you left the playing field, it'd add more difficulty to the game which I think it'd lacking in at the moment. Fun attempt overall though I think.

The End and the Beginning by Zitao YE 2017-04-30T16:43:51Z

To be honest, I found myself rather frustrated by how slow you shoot, enemies seem to shoot 10x faster. Due to that limitation, I felt the difficulty was high enough at least, yet still the game felt a bit lacking to me personally. I didn't time it, but it felt like the reload time was 5 seconds or something ridiculous, in the meanwhile all you can do is hide which I find kind of boring.

Also, the text box on the bottom took up a lot of the screen making fighting enemies in that direction troublesome. Maybe having it appear for new messages and then fade after a few seconds would be better for gameplay.

That all said, I'm sorry if it seems that I'm bashing your game. It's just my opinion and maybe the majority of people will feel differently. The important thing is that you guys got a game completed and more experience under your belt. That's a victory for sure.

Feel free to check out my game and offer your honest opinion. https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/38/rc-kitchen-throwdown

Godly Corp. by Zeriver 2017-05-01T16:57:36Z

Silly physics are always fun, immediately get that surgeon simulator vibe. I of course died first day because I die at all games requiring any actual skill. Physics was obviously janky but with a game like this that's part of the charm, I wouldn't worry about it overly much.

Enceladus by mgoadric 2017-05-01T09:55:13Z

I want to like it but I'm confused! Hitting up does something different every time it resets, there doesn't seem to be any indicator beforehand what a button press will do unless I'm simply mistaken. For me this has become "send poor astronauts helplessly into orbit simulator!", haha. Part of me is OK with that though, yep nothing wrong with that, lol. I like the idea of having a single input control more than one astronaut and you have to deal with it, beyond that I'm rather lost i'm afraid.

Bamboo Life by candlesan 2017-05-02T09:39:04Z

Cute game, I like that the panda poops out more flooring :joy:

A bit repetitive for me personally but I can see the appeal for some certainly. Nice compo game.

The Escapist by mohammad 2017-04-30T17:00:23Z

I have to parrot the other comments here, there's simply NO directions or hints as to what you're supposed to be doing at all. The only thing I was able to do was switch between weapons. Adding the controls listing here and/or on the game page would be a great help. Hold on, it also says that game was created 1/15/2015.....That's odd.

M^3 (Moon Mining Manager) by KnightOwl 2017-05-01T08:09:15Z

I like that the workers are automated but that creates a bit of a challenge in itself. How do you work around the resources that they're bringing you, right? Gotta process fast. So right off the bat this game hits a lot of good buttons for me personally with resource management, strategy coupled with silly AI workers. I'd love to see the game developed more allowing for further processing of materials and expansion of abilities. Of course ideally I think I'd prefer the workers be smartened up a bit and perhaps mined materials be separated into storage facilities or something. Maybe you could have a hierarchy for priority of things to be mined that you could change on the fly. It'd be a nice way to control workers without having to micro manage.

Overall I like it, keep up the good work!

Microbe Mash by LeFayGames 2017-05-01T14:00:59Z

After a while I i had no freaking clue how I was going to solve a puzzle at the start just by looking at it. I just started merging and hoping and remembering. Somehow I got by. I thought it was a fun little game. It's not hard to understand what's going on really, but that doesn't mean it's always work the way you want!

One minor thing, I would of appreciated if there was a reset button. A few times I had to sit there waiting out the timer with nothing else to do.

Cookie-World by Loktor 2017-05-01T10:42:46Z

I topped out @ 18352, the cookie monsters just overwhelmed me! It's a simple and fun game, no complaints here really. Things work as expected, it's easy to understand and the difficulty scales the longer you survive. These are hallmarks of a solid game and your's has it. It also has cookies and I like cookies, so there's that.

Colorfly by Zelos 2017-05-02T12:24:58Z

The music REALLY sets the mood in this game. It helps tell the story for you and I love that. The visuals are quite nice as well, it's just bursting with color which I can tell is what you were going for. I was sad when the colorfly was overtaken, what will happen to color in the universe!?!?!

My only complaint really is looking back it feels like growing the trees with color didn't actually accomplish anything. I know some triggered portals, but could I have simply skipped most of them still completed the game the same? I know the game is minimalist as far as UI goes, so adding a points system or something probably wouldn't be ideal, but some way of tracking your impact on the game world and making it feel like you're making a real difference would help I think.

Trindle Tabletop Experiment by vkmicro 2017-05-01T09:40:59Z

It was a fun little game, about all I can say about it. Everything seemed to work as it should, things were recognizable at least. I'm programmer myself, so the last thing I'm gonna do is bash a compo entry for having programmer art, you do what you can do with the time allotted. You created a fun little game that functions as intended for your first LD, I think that's a win for sure. I look forward to your future submissions.

Leucos by Harry Alissavakis 2017-05-02T11:45:25Z

I love most everything about this game, I just thought it was awesome. My biggest problem was that if you wanted the camera angle to remain like that, you really shouldn't have that bottom lane. You can't really see monsters coming from the bottom until you about walk into them. On the other hand, you probably could keep everything as is and simply move the camera to a much closer over the shoulder third person view.

Overall for a compo game especially, I just thought it was great and a lot of fun.

The Little World by JayTord 2017-05-01T14:40:30Z

By day 22 I was screwed. Sadly there was just no was I could look away from the planet to try and read the text at the bottom to get an update of what was going on. Some kind of visual status update on things would of been priceless.

Big Ship on a Small World by Samcam 2017-04-30T17:14:31Z

As others have said, some planet sprites are cut off while others are missing entirely. The text color choices weren't always the greatest for clarity either unfortunately. Sadly I can't comment on the story, the second I realized it was a visual novel/experience/not actually a game, I kind of just started randomly clicking buttons while looking at the pictures.

Feel free to check out my entry and leave your impressions: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/38/rc-kitchen-throwdown

Theatre Throw-Down by Ratbag 2017-05-01T11:34:30Z

A game that requires actual skill!?!?!?! Of course I died immediately.... several times. I had fun though and hey, that's the job of a game. So you dun did good. Randomly generated maps is a big bonus in my opinion, it adds a lot of replayability. My only complaint is that you didn't give me a god code, I demand my own personal konami code, that is all.

SmallWorld by arg410 2017-04-28T09:59:39Z

I like the art and the simplicity, it didn't take long to feel a bit repetitive to me though. I think the game felt too forgiving maybe. I think I'd have to afk a good while to actually lose. I mostly wanted more to do.

Stop CO2 by cremmy 2017-05-02T11:16:26Z

I like the look of the game, sadly I simply have no idea what I'm doing. I think I've only managed to zap 1 eco invader after losing 7 times. With a game like this, a simple video demo might go a long way towards showcasing how the game works. On another note, some background music or something would be nice, just something to fill the silence.

Glop Plots by Carsen D. 2017-05-01T06:44:54Z

I like it, it's bare bones as you said but it's a jam game, it's to be expected. You have the beginnings of a fun little game going on here. Obviously not something you sit and play for hours or anything, maybe a mobile or browser game you check every few hours or something, but those definitely have a market. I personally like game to have some kind of failure condition and I'm not seeing that at the moment. So that's a drawback. Maybe you could be competing against other builders for spaces, or selling resources against an evolving market, something where you could perhaps not be gaining no matter what.

The Final Earth by Florian van Strien 2017-05-01T13:44:13Z

One of the few games I've seen that has a tutorial system built right into it, kudos for doing that. I was afraid I was going to have no clue what I was doing but it wasn't a problem at all. You hit the theme dead on, gameplay seemed fine, everything functioned as expected. Graphics weren't a homerun but it's a compo entry so I'm not going to complain there. A solid entry in my opinion.

Whale Fall by theslate 2017-05-01T16:46:40Z

There's ether too many whales or too few, why can't whales make up their minds!?!?! I had a very hard time progressing, there was a real feast or famine situation happening. In either situation progressing was simply impossible for me.

RC kitchen Throwdown by oxrock 2017-04-24T04:04:54Z

In my mad rush of development, the fact that my target platform was webgl had kind of slipped my mind. So unfortunately I got a little carried away with physics in a particular situation that will severely impact performance. My apologies to those who discover that super helpful mechanic and have to deal with the slow down.

RC kitchen Throwdown by oxrock 2017-05-01T11:24:24Z

@IDid I agree that that car getting flipped is frustrating but I felt I had to leave it in there. An RC car can't right itself without outside intervention and I felt auto correcting it or having a "flip me over" button would cheapen the experience. I appreciate your feedback though and as I said, 100% agree that it's frustrating.

@BadRAM I think my game would be 10x more fun if it had the car physics that your game has. I'll definitely be looking at your source files to see how you accomplished your magic. This was my first time ever working with unity's wheel colliders and I know it shows. I'll be updating the game with the improved physics once the judging has finished.

RC kitchen Throwdown by oxrock 2017-05-01T13:14:18Z

@florian-van-strien for me, the batteries were actually more of an after thought, there's another mechanic in place for recharging your battery, you can see it flashing with lightning bolts at the start of every game.

@jamesy012 The game did take on a horror type vibe with being chased and having to rely on sound to know what's behind you all the time. I actually really liked that aspect despite it being initially unintended. As for the dog throwing objects around, I found it so hilarious I just couldn't take it out. I didn't want to deny any of you the pleasure of seeing a fridge or oven tossed aside by a dog while he chases your rc car :joy:

Smell World by sgadrat 2017-05-01T14:27:01Z

It's cute, sadly it's just so short! That and hitting down kept scrolling my window down.

hand of god by janekx21 2017-05-01T14:17:55Z

There are several different release versions listed on your google drive link, which is the official one for the competition?

Cosmic Cleaner by Burgee 2017-05-01T13:29:55Z

I had so much fun destroying those annoying little planets, thank you! What, you mean that wasn't the point? Well crap, check this off as another game I'm bad at! All joking aside though, I found this to be quite a fun little game. The concept is pretty straight forward to understand, but that doesn't make it easy to do! Good job.

LD39 — Running out of Power

Assault//Battery by tuism 2017-07-31T16:55:29Z

Very addictive game, I enjoyed playing it a lot. I agree with others that this game seems perfectly suited for mobile. With a little polish you could have something quite fun.

Recoil - Mike Said No Short Titles by Cynical Monkey 2017-07-31T12:06:44Z

I wish I had known at the start that right click and left click turn them different directions, haha. So many wasted moves as a result. Nice little puzzle game.

CREEP by AkirAssasin 2017-07-31T13:55:02Z

Some sort of noob walk through would be great, but I think that's a pretty common thing to say. I being a mere noob was rather confused for quite some time as to how it was working and largely clicking at random.

The Road To Power by tinykidtoo 2017-08-01T04:11:00Z

Not generally into games like this honestly. Luckily I was able to put people in gulags and get assassinated, so that helps.

HoverBots by genderTruckery 2017-08-01T03:01:50Z

I like the idea of this game but some wonkiness made the game feel a bit frustrating. Firstly, I had expected the hoverbots to fly like drones as they feel as if that's their inspiration. Unfortunately their operation felt off. It took me longer than it should honestly to realize that the controls were translated into your perspective as opposed to staying simpler. IE, hitting left simply makes your drone go left instead of spinning in circles like IRL. After i got used to that navigation made more sense at least. After finding the charging port I tried to store my drone because I thought that was the idea. I hit enter and it asked for confirmation to go to the next area despite the fact that I hadn't gotten many items. I hit escape to try to go back out and fly looking for stuff but that prompted me to quit the game. Then I got stuck being unable to do anything other than go forward to next level or to quit the game. The confirmations didn't seem to give any actual ability to back out of them and return to gameplay.

I apologize if this comment is a downer, I imagine a lot of my dismay is simply user error. Anyhow, congrats on finishing the jam!

Robo Power by jahndis 2017-07-31T16:27:32Z

Nice puzzle logic game, simple to pickup and fit the theme via story and game play.

Jumping Jehosaphat by jharler 2017-07-31T11:58:05Z

This game was really cute, I liked it. My only complaint is that the power switch seemed pretty finicky about being activated. I found myself jumping into it several times before it'd activate and complete the level.

Reverse Thrust by tiffi 2017-07-31T13:01:39Z

Died at the first alien i ran into, haha. Fun game that worked well with the theme, no complaints. The AI companion's comments worked well to boost the humor factor a bit.

Escape From Planet Poop by DankyPants 2017-07-31T16:11:08Z

Hooray, a game I can actually beat! I found that enough poop fell into the ship naturally that I didn't even have to jump to gather many. For most of my play through it simply seemed more efficient to just move side to side scooping the fallen poop into the engine bay.

Sip Sip Universe by sugarbyte 2017-08-01T03:17:04Z

I spent a few minutes pressing every button I could trying to find SOMETHING responsive, but in the end all I could do was move around with wasd and arrows. Am I missing something?

Sip Sip Universe by sugarbyte 2017-08-01T03:29:39Z

indeed space works, I apparently was not relentless enough! Thanks.

The King's Saviour by drtizzle 2017-08-06T15:07:59Z

I don't know why bats are exploding with particle effects from being killed with arrows and I don't care. Explosions + particle effects = fun. I also really like the aesthetic of your game as well as the audio. No complaints, would jump off bridge again.

Robot Invaders by Pedro Romero 2017-08-05T07:58:15Z

Game is pretty fun as is, good job.

The Stonemont Chronicles by zedutchgandalf 2017-07-31T15:59:46Z

I found out that scrolling the mouse wheels rapidly skips through events, I was trying to recenter the screen when I ended up skipping about a million panels.

Heal The Dark Lord! by Coauctor 2017-08-02T13:50:26Z

I love the art, gameplay is adequate. I ended up shooting a baby into space via wonky physics, so that's a bonus :)

Airship Engineer by ryte2byte 2017-08-05T06:57:48Z

Funny game with a cool idea. Unfortunately, I don't think I could win no matter how many times I tried.

End of Time by TolMera 2017-08-03T01:31:49Z

Saw your post, I don't want you to feel bad like after LD 38 so I came to rate! :)

This was the first game I've seen specifically made to be played in a browser so it stands out. I kept being prompted to research flawed science and I honestly don't understand why. I assumed it was a pseudo-science type thing and wanted to avoid it as much as possible. People create enough of their own weird ideas without official research i think. Even the CIA was asking for it, so eventually I relented assuming I must not understand the meaning properly. Sadly, with no artwork or sound there's a lot missing from a traditional game recipe. Hopefully others enjoy it like I did.

Supplice by Vegevan 2017-07-31T17:08:15Z

Great game, I love the premise. It's weird to think of your bones as an exhaustible resource but it totally works here.

Pathjumper by mrnyarlathotep 2017-08-02T13:16:43Z

I was actually going to complain that I couldn't actually pickup the mysterious blue glowing orbs but then I realized how the fuel scoop worked. I think I prefer it this way. I hate wasting drops because I'm already at full energy. Other than that, I'll just echo what others have said. Sound can really add a lot to a game, a few minutes in bfxr would of made a big difference. Competing in compo makes it especially hard to find the time for everything though, so things getting axed last minute happens. A possible bug I ran into: sometimes my ship would continuously shoot despite my not touching the shoot button. It was a bug a didn't much mind having happen during fights though, saved me some button spamming. Overall it's a nice game that fit the theme quite well and I enjoyed it.

sunset by peterfsat 2017-07-31T12:33:14Z

Wow, those beacons were so hard to see at range! I should have just used the arrows and gone forward a bit to better find them I guess. Eventually I died from radiation poisoning just after finding the mini map. I wasn't sure what I was supposed to be aiming for and just picked a random dot.... an died, haha.

Programmer Energy by sn0uk 2017-07-31T16:04:54Z

Not a fan of typing games in general but I think it looks nice for what it is and pretty easy to understand.

Eomro by Bookworm31 2017-08-01T03:46:44Z

Ran around for a while offending people because I told them I was experienced in the ways of fire. How dare I mock thee with my fire knowledge!?!?! My character seemed to like jumping a whole lot, after teleporting from the first level they just jumped up and down constantly. Luckily my 2 new companions did not seem to mind.

The Great and Magnificent Machine by psychopsam 2017-08-02T12:55:07Z

I absolutely love the graphics. That said, I'm not sure you can actually lose, can you? I just scrolled right until I was near the boss and sat there doing nothing as the auto turret went to work destroying everything.

The Berserker by PlexusDuMenton 2017-08-01T03:13:02Z

error: The program can't start because UnityPlayer.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling program to fix this problem.

I tried redownloading the windows link in case of weirdness but always get the same error.

Necromancy by N4tticus 2017-07-31T18:33:25Z

Not enough enemies to kill!??!!? I'm constantly swarmed by a million every time I start. Even if I manage to not let them touch me, I die from simply killing them despite not missing any shots. My chief complaints are * dying despite constantly fighting and not missing shots * enemies completely ignoring the terrain * ridiculous swarming as a result of them ignoring the terrain and magically knowing where you are at all times

That all said, a random dungeon generator, inventory and stats system is a lot to cram into 48 hours. So it's understandable that there's less polish elsewhere. I would suggest focusing harder on game play in future jams over cramming in features. I never even got to experience the inventory system simply because I'd get swarmed and die over and over again or kill myself by defending myself.

Lastly, mostly because I forgot. The application froze during startup several times.

Electric Neon by kamikaziuk 2017-07-31T12:43:00Z

I like the aesthetic of the game a lot, and the music goes with it perfectly. I couldn't figure out how to reverse unfortunately and I sadly needed it a lot. Hitting back to in attempts to reverse out of bad situations simply drained my battery :( Overall it's a good pickup and play little game.

The Last Light by Loktor 2017-08-03T01:08:16Z

Nice entry! I actually remember playing your last submission as well. We're now both 2/2 for compo finishes! :) I can't really add much to what's been said already in terms of criticism unfortunately. It's a nice looking game that's simple enough to understand.

Metal Rescue by UnidayStudio 2017-08-03T01:58:49Z

I like the aesthetics of the game and everything I encountered was functioning as it should. My 2 complaints are that the robot moves pretty slow and that the game-play is setup for you to fail over and over again until you get things figured out. Especially with lock picking for example, there was no way to complete that first try. You'd have to be ridiculously lucky. Overall I think it's a very solid game though for sure.

YOU MUST RUN OUT OF POWER by jorjordandan 2017-07-31T18:49:11Z

An endless running that ends... EXTRAORDINARY! I think it's great the way it is, phooey on the naysayers. I could beat it, therefor it's good and perfect in every way! ;p

Only criticism I have is that I assumed that the orange obstacles would kill you if you touched them. I accidentally ran into a couple and nothing of note happened, intended?

Power or die by Aterlamia 2017-07-31T19:25:06Z

The first time I played, it bugged out and said I won not long after placing my first building. Subsequent times my "incompetence killed us all!". Some tool tips or something explaining the buildings and whatnot would be nice. Not a bad entry overall, would kill everyone again :)

Artifact Dive by AdroitConceptions 2017-07-31T17:25:12Z

The artifact was a lie! Haha, searched all over several times and never found it. I guess I just got unlucky(or I suck with mazes). Fun little game, no complaints.

Alien Swarm by oxrock 2017-07-31T12:00:46Z

Hitting escape toggles the lock/hide mouse option allowing you to stay within the window. I have the commands listed in the description and itch.io site, but I agree a tutorial system of some sort would help for sure. There's just never enough time to get everything ironed out like ya want to.

Alien Swarm by oxrock 2017-07-31T15:42:52Z

@jason-kennedy thanks for informing me about the generator bug. Enemies stuck fighting an indestructible object is definitely a big bug. Luckily It's now squashed and updated.

Alien Swarm by oxrock 2017-08-02T13:31:01Z

I can appreciate the comments about people wanting gun sights to guide them or wanting the the gun in line with the camera to better line up shots. That said, it's simply not how shotguns work(which is what the gun is supposed to be). Obviously this game isn't heavily based in realism so adjustments are always possible, but those changes would simply make it feel more like a rifle. I'm at least glad that I added the line renderer showing shot trajectories last second because I'm sure there would of been a LOT more unhappy gamers.

Thank you everyone for the feedback thus far and especially the words of encouragement. I'll definitely keep them in mind for the next time around.

Alien Swarm by oxrock 2017-08-04T03:03:53Z

@bobbytables my best legit run has been 7:56 scoring 995 points.

I'm sure i could make it better, I just haven't put the time in to be pro yet.

Alien Swarm by oxrock 2017-08-06T09:19:50Z

@ryte2byte the leaderboards work for windows/local webgl builds (i assume mac and linux as well but I don't have machines for testing) but for some reason the webgl's version stops functioning once uploaded to itch.io

@ditzel wow, thanks for that compliment. All models were made in engine by simply sticking default 3d shapes together and modifying their scale and material. I'm simply not fast enough in blender to warrant creating models in a 48 hour jam.

Alien Swarm by oxrock 2017-08-07T08:15:37Z

@drtizzle the drops rates are set to a percentage chance increasing with monster difficulty. Sadly RNG can really be feast or famine. I'm really glad you liked the game, thanks for the feedback! :)

Jeff Long Run by Matoux42 2017-07-31T12:12:40Z

First off, it's nice to see a game made in pygame. Python/pygame were my introduction to game making. Sadly, I couldn't get very far. It was honestly rare for me to get passed the first set of stairs. I just couldn't jump fast enough to out maneuver the obstacles at that speed.

Turrets Turrets by ryzy27 2017-07-31T15:53:33Z

I think it worked out pretty good. Running out of power was constantly an issue, so you hit the theme nicely with that. It didn't take that long to figure out the basics which is a bonus. Having a meaningful detriment to all the upgrades really made me think about if they were worth it or not. Good job overall.

Sea Life by Laien Pathfinder 2017-07-31T13:37:14Z

Apparently I'm drawn to plastic like a magnet! I could swear a few times I died to plastic without touching it, but oh well. The game kind of clubs you over the head with it's message. It's a message worth hearing though at least. I'm not sure how it fits the theme though, being I always die to plastic or being eaten.

First Ludum Dare Submit (Hackerman) by Tiberiusuciu 2017-07-31T19:07:47Z

Do you hack slower while in sneak mode? I was holding the hack key for like 2 minutes for the first door and nothing. I turned off sneak and it worked fine, and my typing was super charged apparently.

Not Like This... by quixatocs 2017-07-31T12:38:15Z

Sadly, the game got stuck on a loading screen with bouncing animals for a long time and simply wouldn't start.

D34TH by Falk Bruskeland 2017-07-31T17:16:04Z

I only got to the end of the second level because i never figured out how to progress :( I got passed all the fire lines but then there was nowhere to go as I slowly ran out of energy standing on a safe box.

Battery Pack by shashwat 2017-07-31T19:33:51Z

Very simplistic graphics and game play I think we can all agree, but at least it's functional. It's also one of those games that are easy to understand but still harder than you'd expect, I like that.

The Infinite Mine by SuperCrunchy 2017-08-05T07:21:07Z

Nice game overall. My biggest complaint is that the difficulty scaled too slowly.

Rats will kiss the gunner's daughter by Mr.Houdini 2017-08-01T11:47:35Z

RedLight by doorless 2017-07-31T17:00:46Z

I really liked the mood of the game and how it looked. Not a fan of not being able to see though.

Night of the Unholy by Maximiliam Berggren 2017-07-31T17:40:40Z

I really liked the atmosphere of the game. I also liked the "thump thump", it just automatically adds to the feels of the game. For some constructive criticism, the first several minutes of the game was me running back and forth simply looking for something to kill. The zombies were on vacation for a bit. I ended up eventually dying because i ran out of ammo after a long while. I bought several upgrades but nothing seemed to increase my ammunition.

Batteries Low by GhostRunners25 2017-07-31T12:24:00Z

I suggest more neatly packaging your game for jams. A lot of people won't even bother unless it's playable in a browser. A lot more won't try to go through the hassle of trying to figure out how to install a game with hard to find pieces. I see the EXE listed in the downloads but when I click it says there's a missing data folder. I'm probably missing it, but I don't see the required data folder anywhere on the linked site. Just a bunch of source files to sift through.

STRATOS-RZ1 by matevt 2017-07-31T12:44:59Z

collect blue balls for points! Every lady knows that! ;p

That was good for your first unity game, i'd be proud of it. I think i'd of preferred the scoring be based on how long you could survive or some similar mechanic. Having to choose between getting more fuel and getting points constantly made me feel like the scoring system needed some work. Definitely adds in some risk/reward factor though for score being based on blue balls.

Prison Escape by stephen321 2017-07-31T16:18:45Z

Nice simple game, not bad for a first LD entry. I'm honestly unsure how it fits the theme though.

Lifeforce Deathrun by GanbareGamesKyle 2017-08-17T17:47:59Z

I like the art and audio in this game. The gameplay is pretty simplistic but I think it would work well on mobile platforms. Even though you're running to get batteries, I don't feel that it fit the theme very well. You explode from collecting the wrong batteries as opposed to ever actually running low on power.

a story about a cat by increpare 2017-07-31T13:14:05Z

That was a strange experience. The "a" key turned left as well as meowed, so I heard the meowing incessantly. It honestly took me a long while to find the box to birth a litter in. I want to say that the cat was cool looking and i like that it was animated. You even made sure to include the butt hole, so kudos for that.

Puppies in Sea Trouble by anttiviljami 2017-07-31T13:45:43Z

I'm not really sure of the gameplay here. I couldn't tell that clicking was doing anything, dogs just kept floating towards the lighthouse and being saved regardless of what I did.

Fight for Power by Anthony Moran 2017-07-31T11:49:11Z

I don't know the reason, but your game made my win10 computer completely unresponsive as soon as I tried to install. Just giving you a heads up.

Light The Way by BobbyTables 2017-08-01T04:17:48Z

Well, I failed valiantly several times. The monsters felt too hard to deal with. I usually had no clue where a tower was and no way to defend myself once the attack started. You could also literally be running into a monster and not see him. I can say that things actually work though, so that's a big plus for your first unity/LD combo! Congrats on finishing.

Post Mayhem by Niphram 2017-12-06T13:28:01Z

More boxes more problems! Simple to understand but very hard once things get faster. Nice game!.

Bat Dose by Serval Games 2017-12-06T14:00:19Z

Switching to fullscreen just causes the game to be stuck in a black screen for me (on windows 10). It's a simple cute game with nice audio that fits the theme pretty well. Pretty good for the amount of time allotted.

Calorie by Terryd98 2017-12-04T12:05:33Z

Silly and fun implementation of the theme, thumbs up.

Eight More Drinks, Please by rplnt 2017-12-05T02:18:47Z

Hard game is hard. Fits the theme well I think and it's an interesting interpretation of it.

Escape the Deep by tgiant 2017-12-04T12:46:01Z

Just gonna echo the comments so far. Some nice polish on here and it's easy to just enjoy and play. I'm bad at it but I won't blame the creator for my faults ;p

Slightly annoying traffic by JOrbits 2017-12-04T19:53:38Z

Simple to understand gameplay that's still fun (especially the crashes). The more cars, the harder it becomes, seems to fit the theme well. Overall good job!

Hungry Ghost by mrnyarlathotep 2017-12-04T19:14:47Z

Your game fit the theme well and I thought the puzzles were pretty good. The ghost needed an animated scarf though, 10 demerits!

Ecstasy of Gold by thiagofr 2017-12-04T11:59:11Z

I like the cute character and the music seems to really fit the game well. Only two complaints. First, the character moves so slow it's a bit painful. I found myself hunting for a sprint button but never found one. Second, There's no game over screen or anything showing how you won the day and saved the coin princess or something. Kudos points for having a title screen and a "how to play" screen setup.

ZhenCo Ghost Management by amras0000 2017-12-04T13:08:00Z

There's a lot of complexity here for a jam game which I think is impressive. Sadly in a jam atmosphere it's unlikely people are going to invest enough time to learn it properly. Good job overall though.

Consecutive Meteor Crunches by Brent Chance 2017-12-05T01:38:48Z

The camera movements really helped add to the heroic feel of things. It has Saitama and it looks nice, so kudos.

Lights, Camera, Action! by gamesplusjames 2017-12-04T19:34:00Z

CrudeCarnageCars40 by elZach 2017-12-05T02:09:20Z

Surprisingly a lot of fun and quite wild and whacky gameplay. My only complaint is the repetitive background music.

Pancakes! by oxrock 2017-12-03T12:56:12Z

I can generally get up to around 5-6. It definitely takes some practice to get there though.

Pancakes! by oxrock 2017-12-04T12:32:35Z

@bobombe I tripled unity's default gravity to help with the innate floaty feel. Although it still felt a bit slow I think making it faster would only increase the difficulty that was already pretty high. Thanks for the feedback though.

Pancakes! by oxrock 2017-12-04T18:40:48Z

I suppose I'll just have to post a video of how it's done to show all you nonbelievers.

Edit: Video is now posted above showing how a pro catches pancakes!

Pancakes! by oxrock 2017-12-06T14:34:13Z

@rowdies 2 pancakes isn't bad at all. That's probably better that most people (other than me of course, I AM the pancake king after all). This game requires a lot of practice to be proficient, more than most people are willing to invest in a jam game it seems.

Unstable Space by FunkyHippo 2017-12-04T20:04:45Z

I think the art looks nice, and it fits the theme with upgrades making the enemies spawn faster. TBH, I don't think it was enough of a detriment to make it actually feel worse though. My main gripe is that I felt it wasn't challenging enough, but it's minor considering the circumstances. Good job overall.

The Gravedigger by Simone 2017-12-04T15:33:48Z

Prompts tell me to talk to the driver to start but I don't see him anywhere. I see a car by the gate but I can't get to it.

The only thing I don't like about this game is how bad i am at it! Good job

Meteor Mojo by MoseGames 2017-12-06T14:22:53Z

My biggest complaint is that there was no indication that you were shooting your gun. Some audio would have helped as well. I like the idea for the game and I liked that the asteroids actually were incorporated into the meteor the character is standing on.

How To War by machrom 2017-12-04T19:24:36Z

I like that vision becomes seriously obscured the higher the pollution levels go. I found myself seriously wishing there were handy keybinds for the factory and greenery buildings, simply because I couldn't click fast enough with the mouse alone it seemed. Nice entry overall, good job.

The exe file isn't supposed to be in the data file. Anyone who downloads this will need to take it out and put it in the same directory as the data file. As for the items, are they beneficial in any way? I didn't see any incentive not to just avoid them as long as possible.

Christmas Present by Jons games 2017-12-04T12:36:40Z

No such things as too much power, stop being a crybaby planet! ><

Solid entry.

SpaceCab by bobombe 2017-12-06T13:38:02Z

Took a minute or two to understand what was going on, once I did things got more fun though. The lack of time really shows with the absence of audio though, I suggest just throwing a few bfxr sound effects into your future jam games. They're super quick to make and are so much better than nothing at all. Anyhow, nice entry overall, good job.

Smack`Em! by mess110 2017-12-04T15:38:59Z

The art looks great and it's functional, being as you ran out of time it doesn't seem to quite fit the theme however. But it's a game you knocked out in 48 hours, not gonna be to overly picky ;p

Tri-Angle by FussenKuh 2017-12-06T14:30:01Z

Sometimes the density of back arrows was ridiculous! Addicting little game though, I always enjoy physics games.

Catch the Bag by Sudakov Aleksey 2017-12-04T15:20:45Z

If you can't delete all that spam, at least edit it to be empty.

As for your game, I thought the art looked nice. You still have some time before the jam ends, I suggest working on the jump mechanics a bit.

The Source Seekers by MuffinCookie 2017-12-04T14:31:20Z

I think this game is great honestly. The more greedy you are with harvester the harder it becomes but the quicker things get done. I also like the art a fair bit. More enemy types would be nice but obviously time is limited during a jam so cutbacks can't be avoided. As far as sound goes, I think you didn't set the turret shot sound to be 3d because I'm able to hear them from anywhere it seems.

Sky-Corsair by Sozey 2017-12-04T12:15:11Z

I suggest reloading the level after you get the game over screen. As it is players have to reload he page which is a bit strange. I like the pixel art though and it was a nice idea overall.

DonJuan-Girlfriend Dating Simulator by rowdies 2017-12-06T14:45:33Z

First time I loaded the game, the screen went all white and nothing ever happened(windows 10 OS btw). Second and third times it was all black but I could hear sounds. The third time I hit alt+Enter and I could see the game window but it was so small that I couldn't actually interact with things very well. Everything was really hard to see/read. I've never actually played dating sim type games before so I wasn't entirely sure what I should be doing in general. I clicked the phone and chatted with one girl but then it seems like I couldn't do anything else there. I feel like if the game played in fullscreen correctly and I had any experience in this type of game that it'd be a better gameplay experience. I will say that I liked the music choice, it seemed to mesh well with the environment I was seeing. The art (from what I could see) looked nice as well.

Leaning Tower by Patrick D 2017-12-04T20:38:48Z

@brookzerker thanks for that hint, had no idea what I was doing wrong until I read that. If anyone's played my game, you could guess that I enjoy physics games. So of course I approve!

Quibbles by LKS1990 2017-12-04T14:05:52Z

I like the idea of the game just fine. I think some color and audio would be nice though. Being able to reset the game on death would be good as well. I do really like how the quibbles affect the player.

Would You Like Tickets To The GUN SHOW by zaratustra 2017-12-04T11:49:15Z

That was certainly a funny interpretation of the theme. There certainly is such a thing as being too over powered. Sadly this detracts from the enjoyment of the game as I'm sure you're aware.

Rogue-Light by SilvervaleGames 2017-12-06T13:54:23Z

Nice game. The music felt like it fit the genre really well and I always have to give kudos to people who implement something more complex like random map generation into jam games.

Volcano Rush! by jharler 2018-12-03T16:28:30Z

"My pants are on fire" the game! Luckily the character is not really wearing much in terms of pants, so he's not losing much. I think it's cute, it's functional, and it fits the theme, no complaints.

I Demand Blood! by Yirggzmb 2018-12-02T22:38:53Z

Very easy to understand game play and the sound effects add a lot to the experience.

Contagion by mrnyarlathotep 2018-12-03T15:48:36Z

My understanding is that you're allowed to bug fix after the time limit has passed. You're just not supposed to implement new things.

Does the look feature ever reveal anything? I tried it time and time again but always seemed to get the same 3 responses. It reminds me a lot of dungeon exploration games I played as a child, and I'm probably just as bad at them now as I was then. Man, it took me FOREVER to find the first ladder! Anyhow, congrats on yet another game done to keep your streak alive.

Dungeon Runer by Andrea 2018-12-03T20:36:42Z

I've never actually played a legit old school rogue-like, so it was interesting to play your omage to one. I felt like enemies reproduced endlessly. After a while there seemed to just be a ridiculous amount of them. Tiny bug I found, if the player and an enemy move to the same square at the same time, you apparently take no damage.

I also like the idea of introducing your own unique experiences form your childhood into your game. Not everyone will feel the same nostalgia about being unable to understand the text in games as you might, but I can certainly appreciate it.

The greatest sacrifice by xesenix 2018-12-03T14:14:38Z

Sacrifice This Game by xlambein 2018-12-03T14:33:59Z

I love the idea of sacrificing abilities as you progress. It's a more fun take on the theme than most of what I've experienced so far. I love how it totally changed how things felt and played afterwards. Good job. I'd suggest creating builds more easily accessible to the mainstream audience for jams at least, but I imagine you knew that might be a barrier. Any luck converting it to an exe with py2exe or something?

The Lamb by f4kethis 2018-12-03T15:18:34Z

I think this is really good actually. It looks nice, sounds good and has super simple mechanics that you understand immediately.

@simone I'm so glad that you enjoyed it! Thank you.

Z-Trail by oxrock 2018-12-03T13:11:05Z

@imer It's not explained in game, but you take damage every turn your character is at 5+ hunger. You also take damage if you perform actions while at 0 stamina.

Z-Trail by oxrock 2018-12-03T13:51:31Z

@jk5000 I agree 100%. I was going to change it at the very end to default to rest and remove idle but I simply ran out of time and energy to do so.

Z-Trail by oxrock 2018-12-03T14:52:06Z

@f4kethis you're REALLY gambling if you don't assign someone to guard duty at night. It's the zombie apocalypse after all, gotta always be prepared :)

Z-Trail by oxrock 2018-12-03T17:12:58Z

@andrea If the vehicle is broken, smoke spews from the hood. I very much like the idea of some sort of sputtering sound to indicate you're out of fuel though. I'll probably keep developing this game and release it on mobile, if so I will most definitely include something like that. As for the vehicle's inventory, that problem will only be exacerbated by going to mobile. I think eventually I'll introduce a compartment on the vehicle that you can click that will then open up a much larger display.

Thank you for playing my game, I'm so glad that you liked it! :)

Z-Trail by oxrock 2018-12-03T18:58:23Z

@kippllo no idea why you're not getting audio, it's the first I've heard of someone having that problem.

@tosunami thanks! :)

Samurai's Legacy by Simone 2018-12-02T23:34:25Z

The game looks and sounds nice considering it's a compo entry. I like the idea and it hits the theme well, but the floaty jumping makes movement feel dissatisfying to me. With platformers, move feel is paramount.

I'm not trying to dismiss your effort though, I think it's a good entry overall and and I'm sure others will as well. Just trying to help you elevate it. :v:

BlobSacrificator by Sarwin 2018-12-03T13:47:27Z

I like the artwork, it's a good submission for a first entry. My only complaint really is the camera transitions. Lerping the positions would easily solve that problem.

Believe me when I tell you this, you won't like the volcano gods when they're angry! Holy cow, they really start spewing! Oh, it looks like this the first LD for all of you. Congratulations on mashing together something that works on your first outting! :)

Plushie Piler by shieldgenerator7 2018-12-04T06:25:01Z

I SOOOOOO loved that you could name your plushies! Sound would be nice of course but I adored the art style. Ended up playing much longer than I thought I would, good job! :)

Sacrifices by ECGamez 2018-12-02T22:32:13Z

I told the king "No" right of the bat when he asked me if I'd save him. I did this mostly because I assumed I'd lose horribly. Unfortunately that seemed to freeze the game. I played the WebGL version.

Then I continued and the only option I had was to send people to their deaths over and over again. Those poor poor peons.

Hot Air Balloons Or People? by itsjustjord 2018-12-03T16:43:29Z

My only complaint is that the sky has a ceiling. It robbed me of all my precious momentum.

The Dark Sea by Jickamangah 2018-12-03T20:24:46Z

I'll parrot what others said, I liked the metal door transitions and especially that sound effect. I'm gonna bang cooking pots for my next Ludum Dare, this I swear! :)

For The Will Of Gods by Erendelous 2018-12-03T20:50:56Z

My biggest issue was the fact that people wouldn't be draggable for some reason. Apparently that's a bug in full screen mode though, so at least I'm not alone there. For a super fast clicking game, it helps to have that mechanic as smooth as possible.

I like the premise and game overall though, it's a nice jam game.

Evolve by Amanda Priest 2018-12-03T15:12:06Z

It's so easy to think too big, especially on your first entry. With your tutorial, things were easy enough to understand at least. Congrats on completing your first entry! I think what you did is interesting and I love the splatty sacrifice sound :)

Alain's Sacrifice by Daniel_Abeleira 2018-12-03T00:11:35Z

I like the visuals of the whole games sans the playable character. I also loved the sounds, they reminded me of some of my earlier games. I think it's a great entry considering the restrictions for a compo entry. Good job.

I think I would have liked if simply spamming the fireball button was punished somehow. For example, if your attacks could kill the people you were saving at the end of the level.

Expendibots by pandan 2018-12-03T14:22:08Z

Works fine for me on chrome, if you see the black box you need to enable hardware acceleration.

As for the game itself, I thought it was great. I totally and utterly suck at it, but don't blame the game for my lack of skill with these things. I thought it was a great take on the theme, it's fun and it looks great.

The Treachery by Tosunami 2018-12-03T21:06:29Z

Anyone else's character keep acting like your button was stuck down? I'd randomly be stuck jumping or going to the side for some reason despite my keys not getting stuck. Anyhow, I liked this game a lot actually. It was good how the bosses were so unique.

Air Rider by Hawkie 2018-12-03T23:15:30Z

The way people screamed as they were falling and eventually made a splat crunch sound was strangely satisfying. The music also did a lot to help set the mood.

Knight Soul Redemption by BGameDev 2018-12-03T14:59:54Z

I like the aesthetic of this game, I think it's a very solid first entry. My biggest complaint is just how dark things are. I felt like I couldn't see what I was doing most of the time but I assume that was the point.

King's Last Stand by Pukami 2018-12-03T14:08:10Z

Very much enjoyed this, went from wondering where the heck the enemies are to trying fruitlessly to gain enough space to not be completely surrounded. Much fun, would sacrifice again.

Love is Sacrifice by Pawel W. 2018-12-03T23:22:08Z

I think the art looks great, I was getting pretty antsy at times waiting to be able to interact at times though. I don't normally play these type of titles so I don't know how normal it is in that regard. I think music/sound will add a lot and I wish you the best in future development.

Runaway Bus by TheGameDev 2018-12-03T14:39:35Z

Simple to understand gameplay is a plus for me. I knew what I was supposed to do and knew what I did wrong when I died. Unfortunately that's not always the case with jam games.

Fuite / Escape by Thomas Lacroix 2018-12-03T15:23:14Z

First LD with new language has got to be rough. I'll bet you learned a ton though! The important thing is that you actually made a playable game in 48 hours. A lot of people never do that. Congratulations on crossing the finish line!

Species: You are the God by econgamer 2018-12-03T20:19:03Z

Man, those lions are ROUGH. I like smiting animals with tornadoes, more games need this feature! :)

Cultist Clicker by TheseusInABottle 2018-12-04T04:50:46Z

I click run game but it never seems to load in my browser :(

Edit: left window open, watch some videos, came back and it was finally loaded. No idea why it took so long. Anyhow...You hit the theme on the head.It can be more fun when people get more inventive with it but I shan't complain. Being that this is your first LD, I think going with a simple game like a clicker is actually a really good idea. I noticed that for some reason, the prices of upgrades were pretty slow to upgrade, I'm assuming that's a bug. Just wanted to say, great job getting a game completed on your first LD, that's a great experience to have under your belt! Hopefully you'll join us again in this zany tradition.

World Collector by Joe Williamson 2019-10-08T04:30:24Z

I thought this game was pretty amazing honestly, especially for a compo game, holy cow! Great job. I recorded some gameplay footage for a video I'll be publishing on youtube soon. I'll update this comment with a link when it goes live.

Singularity by dob 2019-10-09T00:31:42Z

This game took me a minute to figure out, but once I did I started really enjoying it! I've never been a puzzle person but this is strangely engaging.

Ignis Universia: Eternal Sister Saga by arzi 2019-10-10T02:14:20Z

This. Game. Looks. Amazing.

Armada by diptoman 2019-10-08T20:04:45Z

Pretty cool game.I like that it's more than a simple shooter. You have to strategize ship placement as well. Nice job.

Words With Foes: Quest for the Lexinomicon by MattWoelk 2019-10-11T18:25:51Z

Really well done for a jam game. Everything looked and sounded good, I didn't run into bugs or feel like anything was clunky at all. And the descriptions did a lot to inject humor into the experience, I really liked it.

Revelator by gamesplusjames 2019-10-08T20:19:06Z

I have always enjoyed simple physics games like this. Nice entry :)

Very nice game, I very much enjoyed this one.

Winter Survival by oxrock 2019-10-08T04:38:00Z

I recorded some (winning) gameplay footage which I'll be publishing tomorrow. I'll update this comment with a link when it goes live. Good luck surviving all! :)

Video is live!: https://youtu.be/x8bA_1_fLEk

Winter Survival gameplay starts at 12:20. The first game is "Raiders of the lost Bark" which I thought was a pretty neat game. Links in description for anoyone interested.

Winter Survival by oxrock 2019-10-08T07:11:17Z

@sharkwithlasers your hunger actually depletes at double the rate while sprinting. It's probably hard to notice though.

Winter Survival by oxrock 2019-10-08T08:31:33Z

@dob @tohubohu Sorry about the item pickup problem. I think the player's collection radius collider was blocking raycasts and thus interfering with picking up objects. He should hopefully now be ignored by raycasts and clicking functionality should now be.... functional ;p Thanks for playing, sorry about that annoying bug.

@kevinworkman I am of the opinion that punching trees hoping for logs would probably be quite painful. Thankfully axes for tree chopping as well as pickaxes for boulder smashing can both be made for 3x sticks and 3x stones. Pressing "B" should open the build menu.

Thank you all for your feedback. It's much appreciated :)

Winter Survival by oxrock 2019-10-09T17:40:16Z

@bar0net yeah, the whole premise is that you're lost in the woods, but I personally found that lost feeling quite annoying to deal with as well. Sometimes I forget that the point is to have fun and I get stuck fixing mechanics to suit the narrative I've made up or to make things more realistic. I think I'll update the game to let footprints be permanent after the rating period is finished.

Winter Survival by oxrock 2019-10-14T09:05:58Z

@godsboss The campfire burns out after a set time. You'll have to gather the resources to create at least 1 to survive long enough to win. As for the pickaxe, it should simply allow you to mine stone from the giant boulders as long as it's your active tool.

Veni, Vidi, Upgradici by Kornel 2019-10-08T20:43:26Z

This game is really cool, I like the idea of upgrading the game itself! Although to be fair, even a completely bare bones game is still something! :) Great job on this one!

Raiders of the Lost Bark by Moritz Jaeger 2019-10-08T04:27:27Z

I thought this was a very cool game. It took me a moment to figure out what I was doing, but then it was pretty easy. My biggest complaint would have to be the camera, it was very disorienting somehow. I very much loved having my very own treasure fetching pooches though! Congratulations on getting the game done in time and good job. :)

I recorded the gameplay for a video which I'll be publishing in the morning. I'll update this comment with a link when it goes live.

Ludum Dare Simulator by Marcin J 2019-10-08T18:53:37Z

The biggest deal is that you submitted a working game for your first game jam, so congratulations! Your first game as well is pretty impressive. It's simplistic but it's functional which is all that can be expected for a new dev in compo submission. I thought it was pretty cool overall.

Knight of Redemption by Yeomsley 2019-10-08T04:36:05Z

oh, i won apparently, hooray! I really loved your enemy models, they were so unique! I had a really hard time hitting those rolling bird things though. Congrats on getting a game done in time, good job :)

Creeping Death by SoupStoreGames 2019-10-08T19:56:40Z

Theme seemed a bit backwards, being you start with a full score. ;p Played (and lost horribly) after seeing your game on elysia's stream. Good job.

LEGS by moechen 2019-10-11T18:18:33Z

art, animation and music is great. Bit sad that aren't sound effects, even simplistic ones would add a lot.

LD48 — Deeper and deeper

Deep Descent by Predominant 2021-04-26T05:21:30Z

Lander games like these are classics. They're quite fun despite their simplicity.

Deep Blue by Imphenzia 2021-04-26T05:35:47Z

I like the models in this game, I know you said you had only a little time to work on it but they look nice. BGM is nice as well. Lack if time shows in the gameplay though. Overall, I'd be proud if I made this in 15 hours, so good job!

Werm - an existential adventure by m11 2021-04-26T05:39:12Z

I thought going off the screen would kill me, but NOPE! Just wandering the blackness of eternity forever I guess. Somehow fits the game really well.

Florida Simulator by Grogian 2021-04-26T23:59:34Z

I'm a big fan of survival games and this one meshed really well with the theme. Nice game.

There's just something about casually bumping into a tiny planet that's hilarious.

Conversational Pitfalls by oxrock 2021-04-26T06:04:32Z

@attala in my experience they don't exist.

Daring Descent by Eastvillage 2021-04-26T06:58:07Z

The graphics are INSANE! Have you ever seen letters so crisp? I think not!

You Are The Helmet! by Heiach 2021-04-26T06:03:15Z

I don't know what I was expecting. I'll be honest, I think I identified more as the skull wearing the helmet. Regardless, I really like the artwork. Gameplay is quite simple and it felt largely impossible to really direct the helmet before you smashed into something. Although the point of the game was largely about crashing into things so maybe that doesn't matter?

Squareroot mining by omnes ludos 2021-04-27T00:12:10Z

The windows build isn't working for me. I see assets and game.program when unzipped but no exe to run.

Deeper and Deeper by John llyod Apolo 2021-04-27T00:16:46Z

Movement lacks weight. I also ended up dying repeatedly at the start simply because you spawn below screen and I couldn't see myself falling off the edge. Once that was sorted though, it didn't take long to get a feel for things and starting laying down some hurt on that big bad. Good job!

Deep Dungeon by deeemo 2021-04-27T00:07:11Z

Hitting E near the door worked fine for me, maybe there was an update.

Anyhow, it's a cute game. I just really wish it had audio. But I could kill things, interact with things and move, so therefor it was a raging success!

Oil Driller: Deeper and Deeper by Kittenhunter 2021-04-26T05:45:55Z

I feel like the pause and play buttons on filling the barrels are backwards. Aside from that, I like the aesthetic. Nice job.

Rocket digger by Kaito 2021-04-27T08:39:48Z

rocket movement was a bit strange at times. It would just get stuck out of nowhere. I also wish there was at least some sort of audio. On the plus side, piloting and exploding rockets is inherently fun.

Dig Deep by GiantWaffle 2021-04-26T05:12:53Z

Took me longer than I'd like to admit to finally understand how to start progressing through the game. You made a game and it works, huzzah!

Drill Digger by luiza.torello 2021-04-27T00:03:52Z

After all these years I still don't know to avoid explosives, lol. The constant wobble of everything felt a bit weird, but it's a very straight forward easy to understand game which is a big bonus imo. Too often in jams games I have no idea what I'm supposed to do but this one was rather intuitive.

Paragon by LakshyaIsAGod 2021-04-26T06:08:28Z

Failed to load, hopefully gets fixed soon.

The Colorsmith by Jordan Ottesen 2021-04-26T05:29:46Z

My favorite aspect of this game is the audio. The levels felt a bit linear though. It just seemed like a lot of "see the square, go get the square". It's a great entry for compo though, nice job!

Brawl Of the Deep by Kofuku 2021-04-26T06:15:05Z

I think it's a neat idea and I like boxing fans in general. Sadly the controls didn't really feel very intuitive to me.

LD55 — Summoning

Summoners Summoning Summons by oxrock 2024-04-15T16:43:17Z

@myse Good idea about the stats. I just added them to the entry page at least. As for the difficulty. It's kind of random. Sometimes it's much harder than others.

@inkweeper Getting the movement working in a way I was happy with was a bit of a struggle. They just love bunching up and blocking each other's way too much. I eventually had to add the functionality of pushing obstructing mobs out of the way to help remedy it.

Thank you both for playing and commenting. I'll be sure to check out your entries as well.
