Looks like a great start, a shame you were rough for day 2. Interested to see how this progresses after LD39. Hope you feel better.
Really great concept! I'm real impressed that you managed to get co-op going given the time allotted, great job! That electricity effect is super cool too.
Nice work! The game moves really smoothly and I like that the camera rotates with you. The mini map is super useful and looks great too.
That flip is really something! Quite a tricky game, that's not a problem though, I just gotta git gud.
HAHAH this is hilarious! Great simple design and quite fun. Really love the rocket trail!
This is great! I really love the look of the ants (those damn ants!) and the gun too. The shot flash is real slick too!
Oh, great job on the UI too!
very good looking game! When you hit something that screen shake is really satisfying! great job!
Really enjoyed this! The way the controls are explained is really cool, especially the CTRL one! My fave tactic is building up a bit of speed then do the interstellar spin while shooting for the Death Pirouette
An ominous setting indeed in this one. The lighting was spot on for a moon space station. Great job! It's definitely real tough to keep going through the whole 48 hours! Hope you stick at it and come back for LD 40.
Very fun game! I love the way the instructions are presented and that glow on the orbs and beams is delicious!
Great job on the audio, I wouldn't have thought it was your first time writing music! It's very fast paced and a good trainer for click accuracy!
I must caveat this with that I wasn't able to actually play as I am on Mac atm. However, I watched the video and it looks fantastic! I really like the sound effect and the effects on click. I imagine it feels quite satisfying pressing the particles too as the shake that occurs looks tuned just right. I'll have another go tomorrow when I have access to a windows OS.
For anyone else trying to play head to : https://viashimo.itch.io/ld39-dead-in-the-water (I grabbed the embed link from the description but it isn't super obvious.)
I think this fitted the theme perfectly and obviously has some quite complex design which is quite a feat for 48 hours. I like that you've added instructions, I think they may benefit slightly from breaking them down a bit for the user. Fantastic effort nonetheless!
Nice job on the artwork. I wouldn't have guessed you'd never made any before, fantastic work! Really like the music too. I'm thinking the main guy is gonna have a heart attack soon, guess one more red bull'll be ok...
@willdata Thanks so much really glad you enjoyed it
@btwj Thanks! yeah I think you're right, on the web build you really have to time your jump a bit too accurately to get the most out of the pad. Probably needs a tweek.
@madalaski a great idea on the batteries! I'll add this in soon once the combo is over. Thanks for your feedback.
Hey @ganbaregameskyle I appreciate your feedback, glad you liked the gimmick. Might you be able to elaborate on the game design fundamentals so that I can best improve this game in the future.
This was fantastic! The font and the typewriter sfx was perfect. The story kept me playing between rounds and the puzzels were just challenging enough to provide some failed attempts without becoming frustrating. A very well crafted compo game! Go and rate some games so that other people see this because this is awesome!
I'd also suggest a HTML version might get some more players too. You can build for that in unity too in the build settings.
Fantastic look! I love the sassiness in the letters!
I love the look of the sun, especially the glow! I'm impressed you got so much into the world in the time. Great job! Congrats on your first LD too :)
Great start there! great art. Hope to see you at the next LD
Great start there! great art. Hope to see you at the next LD
Loved the voiced effects. Those bullets sound like they REALLY hurt!
As Lucky Deathers has said, the FTL vibe was strong and I loved it. A very ambitious game! I really enjoyed the ship building. I'd love to see how it moves along after LD as well.
Super fun smashing stuff! Got some lag with the web version, but still real fun.
I love the interpretation of the theme! There's a great amount of depth here too with the difficulty settings. Lunatic was true hell hehehh
Fantastic concept. My favourite were the voiced sound effects. 'YAH!', 'HOOOOOOOOOO' hahhaha they were brill!
Fantastic concept. My favourite were the voiced sound effects. 'YAH!', 'HOOOOOOOOOO' hahhaha they were brill!
This took me back to the good ole text based days! Really like the balancing act, think I can win in a few more goes :)
Cool little game. I like the vibe and the concept. My only tweek would be to make the initial stage with only one worker a little shorter so you have more to do quickly. Nice amount is in this game for the time available to make it. Good job, see you next jam :)
Wow there's a ton gone into this! Really great stuff with a bit of a gwent-but-on-arakis vibe to it. I love it and I'd love to see how this progresses post LD. I wasn't sure how best to place my troops as I had no idea what the computer was going to place, so I wasn't sure how best to plan my moves.
Really beautiful looking game. The glow and gate charge effects are really well done and you have chosen colours well. I think a small improvement would just be a level counter so I know how far i've gotten. Great stuff though :) See you next jam!
This is pretty fun. I really like the use of the theme, the more presents the kids got the badder they became. I would say it's pretty hard though as you don't get too much chance to react to a present falling. If the field of view was a little bigger I might have more of an impact. Probably just my old fingers though ;) Another thing I might add is a timer or something to end the game in failure if you don't destroy enough quickly etc. Just some thoughts. Great game! See you next LD :)
Nice work! It must be a nightmare building a collide system. Good effort on that though, I didn't find the bug while I was playing :)
Nice work, I think this captures the theme really well! I am particularly impressed with the pathfinding. Great job, see you next jam :)
I was really into this game. Unfortunately I don't have a VR setup so couldn't play like that but did play fine on my chrome browser. I loved the minimal look and the audio fitted perfectly. I'd be interested in seeing any updates you make to this later. Great work, see you next jam!
HAHAHAH I LOVE this! Really like all the references and I totally get what you've been going through there with the ideas meta game. This is brilliant. Only improvements would be a little bit of UI and perhaps some sound though I see you've opted out of the audio section. Perhaps if you get some time to work on the game later though :) See you next jam :)
Great job! I really liked the vibe. The loading of the second level took a little while given the size of it, not a problem, but I just expect a level that size to load pretty instantly.
Cool idea. There's a ton in this! I'm really impressed you managed to code all that in 48 hours WHILE also juggling at the same time!
Hahah this is great! A lovely minimal entry. Sorry your first game didn't work out, keep at it though :) See you next jam.
Fun little adventure. Like the opening cinematic and the sounds in particular. Those damn spiders kicked my ass first game so I got some revenge once I got a bat hahha. Great Job, see you next jam :)
heheh this was funny but too real man! Looking forward to the DLC ;) See you next jam
I really really liked this concept. The controls were quite close together but I think that added to the fact that this was meant to be a brain cluster so didn't see it as much of a negative. I got to level 6 and got hit on the last wave of red dots. Also love the emergant music that's created. You could add a little percussion underneath to fill the space between waves in a round but that's a very small thing. Out of interest, how far does it go level-wise?
Really nice looking game, particularly that drag bounceback. I really like the concept too of having to get rid of stuff while life admin's on your tail. I couldn't quite figure out how to throw the apps away after they'd installed.
Great first go programming this. This looks super good for a first run! Really like the concept of a sumo ring and bashing your opponents out of it. You are right that it's thin on the theme but I think a way to look at it is this: the theme may help bring someone without an idea some inspiration, those with an idea already might just feel constrained by it. In other words, use the theme if it works for you, if it doesn't work for you then dump it, it's trash :) Great job! See you at the next jam :)
Nice work on this one. Was quite tricky too keep all those critters alive, guess I'm more of a dog person. See you next jam :)
Hahah, I'd not heard of this game but will definitely bring it up when I next speak to my friends from down under. My xbox control seemed to work fine but I didn't get the keyboard to remove the images behind. Nice pixel art and animation. See you next jam :)
Real nice idea and very well executed. Really love the art style as well as the splitting the screen effect when you add more noteboys. My only improvement would be to make the controls a little more responsive as theres a bit of a time delay between clicking and the jump happening. Great job nonetheless! See you next jam!
Hey @bobombe, @oliverlevay and @belowparallel-ian, yes I agree that it's too easy. The character is meant to sway side to side a little with the difficulty increasing as you balance for longer, so it is possible you can not touch the controls and still win (I'm ok with that). However, I think increasing the rate at which the difficulty increases and having the starting time be higher might be a good response to your comments. Thanks for your feedback guys :) Hopefully see you next jam
Hey @ragnta, thanks for your comments. I use Ableton LIVE as a digital audio workstation (DAW) for the music. I also use a free software called Audacity to edit some of the sound effects, which can also be used as a free, albeit limited, substitute for Ableton LIVE.
Nice work, especially on the art and music. I liked how the audio filter shifted when you were dead, I'll have to look into how that's done as it really had a nice effect here. GOod job, see you next jam :)
Nice job, I'm impressed with the size of the level for the amount of time available. I really liked that you saw all the traps in the early game before knowing that they are not just bits of decoration in the background. I really liked the mood that the audio affords.
HAHAH that sound when you die, like you stepped on a cat or something hehhe!! Hilarious game and a great use of the theme.
Nice work here! I think the game satifies the theme nicely. Being a dumb ass it took me a day to realise that you can grab stuff from the boxes to give to the bunnies. I liked the day-night timer and the art in general. Good job, see you next jam :)
Hahahah that explosion sound is hilarious. I really love that you've flipped the convention of collecting coins to avoiding coins! Of course the first round I played (even though I read the instructions) I collected the coins and then exploded my face on that corner. Years of gaming has given me an instinct for collecting coins that I'm now going to question on every new odyssey I explore ;) Great work! See you next jam.
This was brilliant! I love the disconnect with the sereneness of the music with the sheer rage pumping through an angry mans veins. Was very satisfying OHKOing sukkahs on the way home. [SPOILERS] Also HILARIOUS busting your fridge open hahahhaha. Great work! See you next jam :)
My best time was 41 seconds. Those Birty's really lay the smack down! I liked how the mech's movement noise was like a music beat, pretty cool idea there! One thing that'd improve it for me is if I could see a bit more of the surrounding area so that i'd be able to see the birties coming. Great job, see you next jam :)
This is stunning! The art is soo good and the colours you've chosen are awesome. Great design concept too. I found some of the platforming quite tough but that's really just answered by a bit of git gud so that's not a problem. I loved the instructions being part of the background and I loved the way the camera held on them and near doors. The camera is my only mini critisism in that sometimes, I think it was when I was near an exit, it would move away from the direction I was trying to go as I think it expected me to want to go towards the exit. I'm not sure I've described that too well and I think it's less important than how good the camera feels in general in the game. Great work overall! Look forward to seeing you in the next jam!
Really great idea and quite a tricky one too.
2, 1 drop! One improvement would be to add in a military base. Maybe make the maps smaller so that you get to see other players before getting sniped from whoever knows where. VSS OP!
Great game! Loved the jibe ;)
Hahah a great game, an impressive amount of content for a weekend. Great Job. Thanks for playing my game also.
Hey, chuck up a download link :)
Great job. The artwork is solid and the controls feel appropriate for the shooting mechanic.
I love a good take on the snake game and this is a really elegant addition. Great work.
Great Job! I Love the bass line syncing with your shots and that this all fits with the rest of the music. Great to see in a compo entry.
Really nice hand drawn simple designs on the entities. I felt the movement of the aliens was quite quick but probably just personal taste. Great work!
Great work again @egordorichev . Very innovative mix of genres and really well executed. Look forward to seeing what you make next jam :)
Really like this game and I think it'd be really good for getting folk to see the divisible patterns in certain numbers. A lot of content for a compo too so great job. Thanks for playing my game too :)
A fun idea and definitely made more fun by adding in a second player. Nice work! PS Jean Luc Picard as Captain!
Very interesting ideas that i'm sure will be great once fully implemented. A good start.
A great first shot at an LD! I was a little confused as to how to get through the door once it was opened but I think I just didn't solve the puzzle ;) See you next jam!
Nice combination and twist on a farming survival. I found the text was a little distorted but it's not a big deal given the limited time available. Great job :)
Cool idea and pretty fun game. I really enjoyed the sound effects. Thanks for playing my game too :)
Hey @Untitled Studios , thanks for checking out the game. Incredibly fair point about the controls. I'll work on that for any future updates I make outside of LD41
Thanks for your kind comments @olivier-millochau . I'm aware of that bug and I'll get it sorted for any further release. Thanks for playing :D
Yes @seconddimension that Helix one was a bit of a bugbear for me, I had the idea for that design and really wanted it to work with the sun spinning mechanic but it didn't really work in time. I'll definitely look at this for revisions.
Thanks @ab200 :D
Ahh that's a brilliant point @the-icy-one I don't really know why I didn't think of that. I think my brain was always thinking of it as a sun-moving action so when I named it time-skip I just didn't fully think it through. Thanks for pointing that out :)
Thanks @potondo :D
Hahah yep that's right @mathiouza . I was aiming for the 'wow I feel great for figuring that out' reaction and hoping to just about avoid the 'to hell with this piece of c**p' reaction. Hopefully I got that about in the middle. Thanks for playing :)
Thanks @richnou for bringing that to my attention. I didn't come across that bug myself when playing but I think I know what causes it. As @Untitled Studios said above, I think it's to do with the bad implementation of the controls. I'll be fixing this as a priority when making any updates :) Thanks for playing and I'm sorry that it spoiled your experience.
Thanks for playing @dalbinblue . I can see what you're saying. I think I have played too many side-scrolling platformers so I thought a Top-Down Platformer was a cool take on it but I've probably just not come across other non-side-scrolling platformers before. Do you have some suggestions of ones I should check out?
Thanks you @gdort glad you liked the mix it was a bit stressful thinking up ways to make that mechanic work. Not sure I quite got there but it was fun getting wherever I did :) Thanks for playing
Thanks @john-darrington for your feedback. You're right, the controls suck and I think I know of a solution for after the grading :) Good point on the visual cues for time skipping, it's also missing a sound effect :( Bit of a mistake there. Thanks for playing :)
Thanks @bcvery1 I learnt a bit about unity's music powers from this jam so it's really nice to hear that. :D
If I could add another plus to your comment @amras0000 I would. Lovely to hear positive things and you're bang on with that lighting bug on Helix and your points that the magma would be causing some lighting haha. I need a bit of a rethink to pull that one off correctly. Thanks for playing. See you next Jam :)
Great point @legiongames I think you're right that it needs to be introduced a bit more slowly and also needs to be useful to promote this understanding. I need to work on that.
Thanks @dalbinblue I agree :)
Thanks for checking it out @n3k
Sweet @deadly-apps I look forward to checking out how you got on!
Thanks @ekkoekko
And now I can't unsee that @dumivid hhahahahha :D
Thanks @meskaline I'm glad you liked the graphics as I thought they were very weak this jam :)
Thanks @nidup :D
Thanks @bomb-x glad you liked it
Well done for persevering @deadly-apps those bugs were pretty annoying. I'm glad they didn't stop you enjoying it nonetheless. See you next jam :D
Thanks @zyuxis glad you liked the style :)
thanks @manimal glad you liked the mood.
Thanks @mowztouch :)
Thanks @simonhutchinson glad it works for folk not fond of 3d platformers :)
Great job @N3K I really like the animation. I'm a YT watcher of yours. Thanks for all the great content :)
Very good style and it's really polished for a jam. Great work and thanks for playing my game too :)
Really great first jam! I thought I was a stud getting the first three right but it went downhill from there after I mentioned my raiding days in the depths of Molten Core! Great work and thanks for playing my game too :)
Very good concept, I don't think I've ever come across another blind game like this before. Great work and thanks for playing my game too :)
A great mix of genre's. I was a little confused about the controls at first but picked them up after a bit. Great job!
Super solid mix of genres there they are truly incompatible. Great work! Top marks for theme attempt from me :)
Pretty satisfying little clicker. A thought I had was that it'd be cool if there was some bigger screen effect for when you're in the red/green etc. great work :D
