LD38 — A Small World

Invasion - The Chronicle by Kappa.B 2017-05-01T06:11:17Z

I really liked the art style. The game itself was very confusing, I still don't think I really understand how to play. It seems nearly impossible to actually defend the planet, but I may not have understood how it works. Overall there is potential with the game but it needs refinement.

Tooth decay by Ithildin 2017-05-02T05:31:23Z

Satisfying gameplay! My only complaint would be the speed at which your sugar goes down, it seemed to be going to down at a much faster rate than I was finding candies.

The Morix Colony by Somnium 2017-05-02T06:19:52Z

I loved the idea of this game. The art and writing was fantastic. My major complaint is that early on in the game I didn't have enough resources to make any choices when an event happened. I think starting out with enough resources to at least have options I could take would go a long way in making me feel like I at least had some control over what was happening early. There were a few games where I just got unlucky and lost to attacks before I even had the option of doing anything. Overall I really enjoyed it!

The Morix Colony by Somnium 2017-05-02T06:19:52Z

Oops! Accidentally clicked publish twice, I don't see a way to delete this...

HexaHover by AJ Weeks 2017-05-01T22:23:18Z

I only played this solo so the feedback may not be that helpful because I didn't get to experience how it was meant to be played. I thought it controlled really well, it felt good moving around. The artwork and graphics looked great. It seemed like it might be easy to not fall off if playing with two players, it needed powerups or something that would give one player a temporary advantage. I could see this being really fun if it was build on a little more.

SLINGSHOOT by chaoclypse 2017-05-01T04:13:37Z

Very fun! I just wish there was more incentive to use the slingshot mechanic more. Overall it was very good

Little Fortune Planet by Flaterectomy 2017-05-01T22:38:28Z

The art is really good! The only achievement I couldn't figure out how to get was the volcano one. I felt like I saw all the cards pretty quickly, more cards would go a long way in replayability.

World of Echoes by multiplexor 2017-05-01T23:02:29Z

Great idea and impressive progress for 48 hours. As others have said, the text at the beginning is too much. You should be able to skip through it faster or at least be able to move while it is going. I found it difficult to keep track of what was going on as more ghosts (if that is what you call it) were playing. The art looked good. The sound effects were a little loud in the mix for my taste. Overall it is a very impressive game!

PogoPogo by obvious-san 2017-05-01T22:49:09Z

Fun to play! It looked great and the soundtrack worked well. I don't understand what makes the pogo meter go up, it seemed like pretty much everyone in the crowd was pogoing but the pogo meter was next to empty.

Mind's Eye by Kosmo 2017-05-02T05:19:53Z

Fun game! It took a while to become difficult, but I love the concept. The effect of blurring the consoles for damage was confusing for a while, I thought the game bugged out but I eventually figured out what it meant.

Kryp by Nahkala 2017-05-01T06:34:04Z

Played on a Mac. When I started the game the window went from fullscreen to windowed mode and was very small in the upper left corner, if I maximized it would go back to the small window when I picked up a green thing. I also could run off the screen with the ladybug. As the other post said, this should be a Jam entry as multiple people worked on it.

The Life Amoebic by Baby Dino Herd 2017-05-02T05:41:03Z

The music was fantastic, great ambiance. I was a big fan of the continuous circle of life with the game ending and beginning at the growth of the amoeba! Super game.

Theatre Throw-Down by Ratbag 2017-05-02T05:50:40Z

Lots of potential here. It would have been cool if there were different enemy types. A few stages in I would often have the enemies spawn on top of me landing a hit before I could even do anything. The music and sound were fantastic!

Barely There by benbennett 2017-05-01T23:07:38Z

@sanojian No you can't chase the bear away, I wanted to not allow the player to control the bee until after the bear ate the honey but ran out of time :weary:

Incidental Dimension by wildmusketeer 2017-05-01T07:16:36Z

Played through the game two times, both times I accidentally managed to get out of the level (into the blue area) and run straight to the end. Overall I think it's a great concept for a puzzle game but needs some polish. Great work for 48 hours though!

LD39 — Running out of Power

Azrellian Asteroid Field by KunoNoOni 2017-08-02T01:47:06Z

Fun game and it looks great. I really liked the art, it all fit very well together. I wish the difficulty progression was faster. It took a long time to get to a point where it was challenging. The clock power-up resetting the speed back to the base speed (at least that is what I think happens) seem too generous, maybe making the slowdown temporary or just slowing things down a little would have helped with that. There seems to be a bug where the score doesn't reset after losing. I would get hit by an asteroid and play again but my score would be at what it was when I died.

Outside by gelisam 2017-08-05T21:39:01Z

I puzzle was great! I music and graphics were fantastic as well. Excellent entry!

Energy Enigma by JCMonkey 2017-08-03T03:07:38Z

I couldn't finish level 3. I had 33/33 resistance and the path was fully connected from input to output. I tried a few other paths that also had 33/33 and were fully connected, no luck. Picture for reference MaybeBug.png

Regardless, it is a good puzzle game concept. There are a few small presentation issues that if fixed would go a long way in making the game easier to play. There needs to be some way of knowing which piece is selected, maybe just putting a highlight around the selected one would be all that's needed. Adding the resistance value for each piece without having to click on it would also help a lot. But the concept has a lot of potential and I can see a lot of ways to make more complex puzzles.

Icarus Fate by saintheiser 2017-08-04T02:53:31Z

The game looks really good and was very fun to play. As others have said, the collision boxes on the rocks seem a little too large. There were many times I felt like I should not have hit a rock but did. One small change that I think would help the game feel more responsive is having the character move on mouse click down instead of on mouse click up. But overall great job!

Tycoon by dob 2017-08-05T02:22:12Z

Very innovative! The sound effects could have used a little work, maybe a little more variety. I really liked the graphics although I didn't think the portraits fit the look with the blocks, but individually they both looked great. Solid entry!

Kit Rocket by Ethan Kennerly 2017-08-05T21:09:29Z

Best distance 10,599. I played on PC and the gunpowder seems a little buggy. Clicking fast on the keyboard just seems to launch the rocket far in either the positive or negative direction. I also did not understand how the steering worked. The nozzles say tap up or down to steer, but I did not notice any steering when taping up or down. But overall I love the idea of the game, with some polish I could see this being a popular mobile game.

Defend Home: Mars by sgt3v 2017-08-02T04:15:08Z

Great job overall. I really liked the artwork and look of the game. I found the game to be rather easy. I could pretty much just stand between the two generators and just shoot the bugs as they spawned. I think another enemy type that went after the player would have helped with this. Then you would have to worry about defending yourself as well as the generators. Overall great job given the time frame!

Airship Climb by Rudenko 2017-08-04T02:30:37Z

Great game! My best was 70. I don't agree with the score going down as you fall after running out of energy. It's something you don't really have much control over and can cause large drops in score (like 20 in my case). But again, overall a very solid game

Aphelion by vulpineblazeyt 2017-08-06T01:05:28Z

Fun game! I thought the absorption beam refiled a little too quickly. I felt like I could be at almost empty and refill completely just attacking one ship. The music was good, but it should have looped, a majority of the game was silent. Overall great job!

Power Grid Manager by cudabear 2017-08-02T03:21:09Z

7700 points. I really liked this one. It's an interesting take on a speed typing game. I can easily see how with practice you could get a lot better at the game which to me is a sign of good design. Well done!

solar avenue by wareification 2017-08-02T00:29:47Z

The graphics were great and the game was a lot of fun. I did think the collision boxes were way too large. I was getting stuck on trees when I don't think I should have been. Coming to a full stop when you clip a tree was jarring. I think bouncing off and getting slowed(maybe losing a lot of power) would have made colliding feel more natural.

Embers by Mortadelegle 2017-08-06T04:32:54Z

I loved the look of the game. I just wish there was a little more depth to the gameplay.

The Shutdown by Silas Reinagel 2017-08-06T04:25:25Z

I definitely spent the most time playing this game of all the games I've played so far. I don't know that I loved the reload mechanic. It seemed like it was almost better to just use the regular attack than to reload to get the special attacks back (the only exception would be the heal if it is needed). I also found the final battle much more challenging than the rest of the battles so maybe there was some strategic element I wasn't getting. But overall I really enjoyed it, very impressive for a game jam.

Dim Wit by benbennett 2017-08-24T02:32:23Z

@aurel300 Thanks for playing!

MotherBoard by nikrt 2017-08-03T00:08:55Z

The graphics and sound effects were great! I wish the gameplay was sped up, higher movement speed and a less floaty jump. The camera movement was very disorienting. I think also speeding up the camera rotation would have helped with this. Overall great job!

Fading Points by SMILEY_4_ 2017-08-04T03:03:54Z

The clean look works really well with this game, I really liked it. The one aspect I didn't really understand is why the walls would disappear. But overall it is a solid puzzle game, especially in such a short time.

Despotism 3k by NikolayKuznetsov 2017-08-05T04:01:20Z

The sound and art are fantastic. It took me a few play throughs to understand how the game worked, but once I got it it was a lot of fun. Extremely polished and one of the best I've played so far!

Not Like This... by quixatocs 2017-08-02T00:12:50Z

Overall it was fun and the sound effects were good. It took a few plays to figure out the controls/feel of the game. The jump pad timing was difficult to get a handle on. Another aspect that was and still is a little confusing is the battery levels. I had two with two charges and one with three and then I lost (at around 35 kills). Do they all need to be green at all times?

B1NMAN_ROFP by davideperozzi 2017-08-06T01:27:39Z

Nice graphics and the particle effects and camera movement looked and felt really good. I ran into a bug where I would fly off the screen if I jumped while running into the edge of the screen on the right side. The jumping controls did not feel great to me, it just felt difficult to control where I was going. But overall the game was well done.

Blackout Z by Paulo Brunassi 2017-08-04T03:16:22Z

High score of 12900. Extremely well polished game for a game jam. The audio and graphics are fantastic. My only complaint is that the blades on the ground blend in a little too well. With the high movement speed and often small vision range I found myself running into them a lot and I felt like there wasn't really a way to avoid them.

Enerzoid by eXr 2017-08-06T04:47:31Z

The best I could get was 11. Loved the look and sound. The controls felt good but I did think the hitbox on the ship was just slightly too small. Sometimes a dot would come on the completely opposite side of the screen, it seemed like it wouldn't be possible to get but maybe I just need more practice. Great job!

VamBot by ModalModule 2017-08-03T23:59:18Z

I really liked the music and sound effects. The graphics were decent as well. There really needed to be a way to turn around. It just felt awkward to have to walk around enemies coming from behind to attack. But for a first game this was a solid entry!

LD47 — Stuck in a loop

Limbo Library by Herman Chau 2020-10-06T05:47:19Z

My favorite so far. The controls felt good and I liked having to pick up a curse every time you go to the shop. The art and music were good as well. Very polished!

LD47 game by tomhunt 2020-10-06T06:38:33Z

The controls were wonky, felt like driving on ice

Beat Farm by Andrfw 2020-10-14T17:14:25Z

I love this concept. I did find it a little tedious to arrange the items in the loop. Overall great job!

Solar Spinner by benbennett 2020-10-05T16:26:05Z

@eldar @igaryhe thanks for the bug report, it should be fixed now

@zachsbutt @cagibi thanks for the feedback. I upped the fire rate and it does feel better :)

@james-joubert for the music I used GarageBand and some loops that came with it

Candyfactory by Rakowu 2020-10-05T06:33:28Z

Funny game, the voice lines were great. I found the balloon very hard to control. Maybe slowing down the movement speed would improve the controllability. I also found it difficult to line up over a piece of candy because you're not able to look down and have the beam point down at the same time, if you're looking at the candy the beam won't hit it.

LOOPOST by Olivier Millochau 2020-10-06T20:41:39Z

I loved the flying between planets mechanic, it fit the theme well. I ran into one bug where the ship would immediately leave the planet orbit when it reset from a crash, it happened launch me directly into some asteroids. But I was able to fix it by resetting with 'R' before crashing. Overall great job!

Hyperloop by very dark lord 2020-10-06T07:04:35Z

Very polished game, the music are art are fantastic. It was super hard, I could never get too far, it seemed like if there were enemies chasing and I had to reload it was pretty much guaranteed death. The enemies also blended in with the background. I had a hard time being able to read how many were chasing.

Swop by igaryhe 2020-10-05T05:30:10Z

Great puzzle game concept. It took me a little while before I figured out what pushing the red ball actually did. A intro level or two to introduce the mechanic would go a long way with teaching the player how it works.

The graphics and audio were both very well done and fit together perfectly.

Overall great job!

*I ran into one crash on level three when I reset from the menu, but I didn't capture the error message.

Ace of Rope by cagibi 2020-10-05T06:14:41Z

Fun game! Lots of potential with the rope mechanic. The art and music were great and fit together well.

I felt that there wasn't much challenge between boss fights, I was able to pretty much run past everything. It would have been good to add more puzzle elements to force the player to interact with the environment.

But overall great job, especially for a compo entry.

[LD47] Falling Asleep by Dark Dungeon Studio 2020-10-05T07:09:32Z

I played the web version and I wasn't able to combine two of the items on level 1. Not sure if intentional, but I couldn't figure out how to progress.

The audio was great!

WhileTrue by ArthurDDev 2020-10-05T21:10:17Z

Great concept, it fit the theme perfectly. There were a few interesting tricks in the puzzles, but overall they weren't very challenging. There's a ton of potential for more complex puzzles. Mechanically one thing that might be interesting is removing the ability to start before using up all available actions. Doing that would open up the potential for puzzles that look trivial but actually become complex when you have to use all available actions. I do wish the music looped, it felt kind of strange when it stopped. Overall great job!

Snack 'N' Jack by Head Tilt Games 2020-10-06T06:07:52Z

I ran into a bug on the second level where I couldn't progress. I killed the last enemy, picked up the blue orb, walked back to the camp fire, and then nothing. I liked being able to switch weapons and they all had a distinct feel (flamethrower is super OP if you quickly shoot it).

Going Postal Starring Dick Danger by MikeW 2020-10-06T05:22:39Z

Super hard, I couldn't get past level 2. I enjoyed the art and music. But I had the same issue with the controls that other people have already mentioned. It eventually got to the point where there were so many enemies on screen it seemed impossible to pop up out of the box for a second without getting hit.

Jessica Calls by yellowmoleproductions 2020-10-06T19:03:33Z

I liked the graphics and music. I felt the game was both too easy and too hard. There wasn't enough time to arrange the items in the inventory, it seemed like there was barely enough time to grab everything you need. But there also wasn't a need to think too much when arranging your inventory. There was so much room that even on the higher levels everything easily fit with little effort.

LD50 — Delay the inevitable

Re-Re-Robot by Porcus_Pie 2022-04-09T06:45:00Z

Fun concept and so many levels! I never felt like there was a huge difficulty spike and I never got stuck for too long so great job on the level design, especially for a game jam. I did have a little trouble with the high speed of the character, it made it pretty hard to control at times. But overall great job, one of my favorites so far

Clear Skies with a Chance of Meteors by chriiis88 2022-04-04T21:41:15Z

Fun game! My high score was 165. There were a few times where I got two of the same card, would have been nice to guarantee that they were always different so the player always has a decision to make. But overall great job!

Asteroid Defense Force by benbennett 2022-04-04T06:26:17Z

@bucketh3ad thanks for the feedback! It's not tutorialized well, but if you successfully hit the asteroid or launch an evac shuttle you get $50. First focus on buying the second gun, and then increasing gun reload speed and power. You'll eventually get to a point where you can increase the time to impact faster than it goes down (assuming you don't miss ). From there it's easy to get to 100% evacuated.

Sundae Driver by Juutis 2022-04-09T09:40:34Z

The driving was fun, but a little hard to control with all the engine upgrades. I loved the engine sound!

Moonshot by Diego Escalante 2022-04-09T06:22:22Z

The graphics and sound were well done and felt very cohesive. Sometimes it seemed like the asteroids were moving too fast to dodge, not sure if intentional or not. Either way it matched the vibe of the story. Great entry!

LakseCounter 3000 by jepjoh2 2022-04-08T23:20:03Z

Always fun to have a leaderboard for a jam game, nice job! Once I realized I didn't need to hit enter after typing the words my score got a lot better

The Mark of Time by DKMK100 2022-04-06T05:38:25Z

Fun game! The achievements were a nice touch that I definitely wasn't expecting for a jam game. I think the biggest thing missing is some kind of feedback when you get hit. Overall great job!

Between My Shadows by jordwest 2022-04-08T05:52:24Z

The audio and atmosphere were amazing! The combat was a little too easy, but it didn't bother me too much because of how good everything else was. Great entry!

Fight or Flight by chertkov 2022-04-09T08:09:28Z

I liked the concept and loved the art and music, great job! I had some trouble figuring out the upgrade mechanic and couldn't figure out how to get the resource needed for the mortar. I think some more information presented to the player would help, things like upgrade cost, what the upgrade actually does, upgrade level, etc

Ghost Caretaker by vidim888 2022-04-09T08:51:58Z

Nice game! I upgrades were balanced well, it was fun trying out different strategies

X-1 - A Game About a Robot Shutting Down by Billnotic 2022-04-04T06:20:46Z

Loved the art! The controls were great, the jetpack was responsive and felt good. I would have liked something else in the level to look for other than recharge stations. But overall great entry!

For the sound effects I think it's fine to keep it under compo, but maybe remove audio from the ratings. I did like the song tho

Hex'd by Paroxysmal 2022-04-09T07:12:15Z

Fun game and well polished! Restarting the game on game over was pretty brutal, wanted to see more of the content but didn't want to have to play through everything again. Overall great job

Etiquette by MikoziQ 2022-04-04T23:14:50Z

I liked the concept. It's like a typing, spelling, and memory game all wrapped into one. I did run into a bug where packages wouldn't start coming if I started after previously finishing a game. Had to refresh the page to play again. Overall great job!

Stacktics by Sam Bigos 2022-04-05T08:04:35Z

I loved look and the way it controlled. I think I'm running into a bug in the web version, the ceiling crushes everything but the game never ends. I can still move around and the time keeps ticking up but there's nothing to do.

Stuck In Space by ThatRandomProgrammer 2022-04-08T06:37:46Z

Fun game! Smart to add the fuel leaking mechanic to stop players from camping next to oxygen tanks until just before they run out.

4&1/2 Lives by Tristian Tee 2022-04-06T06:03:18Z

Nice job for a first jam! The music wasn't bad and the goo shader did look good. I ran into a few instances where I wasn't able to reach the any platform from the start. I think another aspect that could be improved is the movement controls. The side to side movement had pretty slow acceleration and made the character feel a bit unresponsive. Another thing that I think could make it feel a lot better to play is input buffering for the double jump. There were a lot of times where I tried to time the double jump to execute at the peak, but I hit the button fractions of a second before the peak and the input was ignored. If you can track when the player last hit the jump button, once you detect the peak was reached if the player pressed jump in the last 0.5s (for example) execute the jump. Little things like that go a long way in making platformers feel good to play

Cold and Alone by David York 2022-04-04T05:44:52Z

I really enjoyed this game. The art looked fantastic and it matched the theme well. The movement controls for the vehicle took me a bit to understand, but once I got it it made sense. There was a point where I had purchased everything and had a bunch of resources. I kept trying to travel as far as I could in each direction to see if I was missing something and eventually gave up. Maybe that's the point of the game and you'll eventually gather all the resources and lose. Assuming that is the case, I think adding something to speed this along would have helped. Maybe requiring resources for repairing the heater or vehicle, something to speed it along towards the end. But overall great entry!

Impending Doom by Castitatis 2022-04-08T06:25:06Z

I really like this one! The art and music was great. It's pretty easy to break the economy by just upgrading the passive energy generation until you're getting like 50k per second, then buy the laser and laser upgrades as fast as you can click them. The asteroid goes from no damage to blown up in like 2 seconds. I think having some small asteroids at the beginning forcing the player to buy the laser sooner would help with this. But it's also pretty spectacular to just delete the entire asteroid immediately

By The Fire by Ani 2022-04-06T06:37:18Z

So much polish! Everything felt very cohesive. I thought the throw seemed a little unpredictable, especially if it was from far away. But overall great entry!

We All Die by ollie_d 2022-04-05T07:40:38Z

I enjoyed this one! My high score was 172. Once I read the instructions and realized you could sweep the laser it became a lot easier. I think the music could have been mixed a little quieter, seemed really loud compared to the sound effects. I played in Chrome and didn't run into any issues btw

Glide by FloatingVertex 2022-04-04T06:55:10Z

Great entry! For me the start was very disorienting. It seemed to always start with the glider flying directly at the camera (and sometimes directly into a wall ). But once I was able to get control it felt really good to fly around!

Galactic Crash by Zerox 2022-04-09T09:39:37Z

Nice job! I really like the look.

I ran into some issues with the text getting cut off
