A fun mechanic with some nice juice! I think the gameplay could be sped up a bit. Also it crashed at the very end for me :/

vilmantas 2022-04-04 10:58

Very cool idea! Not sure how I'm supposed to die though, tried hitting myself on the head with a block, but that didn't seem to get me to lose. Also, I was playing for a minute before i realized I didn't press play :face_palm:

sirjupitron 2022-04-04 11:36

Hi! Godlike controls, feedback and juicyness, incredibly on point with that clicky sounds. My score: 3,25m

sam-bigos 2022-04-04 23:00

@iwilliams ah sorry about the crash. I can't reproduce it myself but will keep an eye out. @vilmantas yeah it's a little unclear, but there's a ceiling slowly coming down to crush you, though it starts off-screen to give you enough time to build up. Play for a few minutes and you'll see it (it also doesn't start descending until you hit Start, before that is just warm-up/practice. @sirjupitron Thank you! Respectable score indeed.

Feels nice to stack the blocks, the trajectory guide is a nice touch too!

2022-04-05 03:18

@sam-bigos it might have had something to do with me holding the last piece as it was crushed.

ollie-d 2022-04-05 07:35

Very solid game. Very responsive character movement, well indicated trajectory of the blocks. Reminds me of a physics-based tetris I used to play on Kongregate back in the day. Really well done

lukix 2022-04-05 07:41

I like the graphics and theme so much! I found one thing that isn't working good. When you holding a piece, the trajectory guide shows wrong line when the piece is blocked by another piece.

benbennett 2022-04-05 08:04

I loved look and the way it controlled. I think I'm running into a bug in the web version, the ceiling crushes everything but the game never ends. I can still move around and the time keeps ticking up but there's nothing to do.

puree-adventure 2022-04-05 11:41

That was so good ! I love the color palette, and the tetris blocs ? that was such a good idea because toward the end my game did look like tetris

unfortunatly my game crashed, like iwilliams, i held a piece as it was crushed, so i don't know how much my score would have been but i was at 6min something ! I love games where the players have the ability to create something, it was very cool (also i had a jumpscare at the first explosion, i didn't see the ceiling first xD)

Great job  Reading the instructions I was intrigued as to how this would play - and it's really good. The physics constraints and the trajectory indicator combine for a really satisfying experience.

sam-bigos 2022-04-05 21:31

@iwilliams thanks for your information! I think I have fixed that crash and put out a hotfix (which is within the rules I believe). @lukix thanks for the feedback, yeah that is something I wanted to improve but didn't have time for. @benbennett that's very odd, I haven't seen that one. Thanks for the info! @puree-adventure Thank you so much! I believe the crash should be fixed now. I also realised there was another bug causing the ceiling to fall at different rates depending on framrate which is fixed now. @bodcodes Thank you!

googlypoo 2022-04-08 06:30

Totally on-point with the theme. Maybe _the_ most on-point I've seen thus far. I had a moment of despair where I had no choice but to surrender to the end :( High marks for that.

Simple but very effective visuals; great contrast on the pieces, no confusion about what to do. Very nice entry :)

My only nitpicks: maybe could have used some background music? And the controls (while nice once I figured it out) took me a minute.

superjai 2022-04-09 00:49

I started thoughtfully placing blocks and ended scrambling to throw anything I could onto the pile. Really great job!

clemall 2022-04-09 11:40

I love the color palette et overall style of the game ! Had a lot of fun playing it and it's my favorite game so far  Good job !

generalsturgeon 2022-04-09 11:48

Great job! Solid throughout and especially polish-wise. Mechanically I would have loved to see the inevitable gray wall of death jump back a bit when destroying the blocks(or maybe just some of them) to have a chance to frantically throw some more on top. Really well done!

dandala88 2022-04-09 18:38

I wasn't going to comment because it looked like everything's been pretty much covered but there were just some things I thought were worth mentioning. First, allowing the player to play with blocks before actually starting the game is very smart. It allows you to get comfortable with the mechanic before being put into any actual risk. A great way to teach the player how to play without holding their hand.

I did feel that the physics were a little unforgiving at times. There was one play-through where I thought I was doing really well. Built a nice tall tower. Then threw just a small block on top of it and all of a sudden my tower started vibrating and then toppled over. That one ended up being my worst score. It wasn't that I just threw the block off center it almost seemed like it collapsed from the pressure. Maybe it was just a one off though. Other than that I thought the physics were good.

Excellent job! Thanks for the entry.

sam-bigos 2022-04-09 19:23

@dandala88 thanks for taking the time to comment! It really means a lot. I think I have seen the physics bug you mentioned once before, when building a really tall tower. You're right, I think there's something wrong with how the physics is setup, in that a block isn't able to support the weight of blocks on top of it.

frostbiiten 2022-04-11 22:59

Really cool game! The art style was very cute and I loved the simpleness of it all. Sometimes it was painful to watch my towers collapse :'( but it was challenging nonetheless.

Screenshot 2022-04-11 185743.png Wish I could get to 4 minutes but I kept failing sadly.

jonah-srg 2022-04-12 15:37

An interesting physics system here and a fun concept. The throwing and movement feel natural and lively. The ceiling crushing down on the blocks feels good, and the way the blocks fly and rotate makes stacking them efficiently a challenge. I greatly appreciate the accurate arc shown as you move your cursor around with a piece selected. Not sure how the blocks are sorted and generated for the player, but I wasn't even able to survive for three minutes. Beyond building a structure very high in the early phase, I am wondering how to better strategize around pacing out the destruction of the blocks to survive longer. Really well done.
