LD50 — Delay the inevitable

Belecint by unpronounceable 2022-04-08T05:53:23Z

Unique concept, deceptively difficult. I enjoyed this. Solid entry :)

Like others, I felt this could work well as a rhythm game. Might be too difficult for the 48h scope, but would be cool.

Some feedback: I think I was hitting the wedges too early at some points because of the gradient graphic. I wonder if it would work better as a simple circle (you can hit this vs. you cannot hit this) rather than a gradient. Though it may just be a design choice to keep it slightly ambiguous.

Deathline by ping78 2022-04-08T06:03:10Z

The simplistic visual style ends up looking great with the glow. Props for the polish - animates and controls well. Maybe could've used a soundtrack?

You said it only took 15h so impressive for less than half of a compo. Solid entry :)

Kharon's Twilight by dob 2022-04-06T21:18:03Z

Enjoyed this. Great concept. I could see myself sinking hours into a full version :) Reminds me of some deck-builders and I'm a sucker for games where you get to make choices like what you could do in the action store. I wasn't able to find a way to increase the number of power moves I could access per turn. How do you buy more slots? I wanted to get my mines going but I kept drawing Despair instead.

You've already acknowledged the slowdowns; after 10 minutes in Chrome it took more than a second for a click to register. I would love to have played more but it became difficult :(

Rectangular Hell by ccglp 2022-04-06T06:19:35Z

At first I was like "this is a pretty straight forward bullet-hell" but then I saw the window size decreasing. Brilliant. Very thematic. You can even easily visualize when it's going to end. Points for that :)

I was not able to parry but I attribute that to my lack of skill and precise timing more than a flaw in design.

Block or Bust by 100th_Coin 2022-04-05T03:41:44Z

This game is wacky and absurd and I could not stop smiling the whole time.

Great animation. Interactions feel good. Music bops. Impressive scope for 48h.

MoonDoggle by realryanrogers 2022-04-06T21:41:22Z

The shooting feels awesome, and I like that the game gets progressively more difficult. At first I thought it was too easy but then shortly after I got overwhelmed

2:20 with 162 bugs killed.

Solid entry :) I think there is potential is adding more buff effects to the glowing bugs. Great job!

Only You Can Try In Vain To Prevent Forest Fires On An Active Volcano by bigbazwa 2022-04-05T04:10:10Z

Strong on theme. I was trying to defend everything at once, but the lava got to be too much.

My poor bear managed to get stuck in the ground :(

MAGICAL JUGGLER EXTRAORDINAIRE by benskca 2022-04-05T06:35:27Z

The golden egg here is the different spell options-- what a neat idea. After unlocking Wind I was eager to try the other two. Earth was a laugh, it was like playing a different game! Fire sending the ball flying exactly what I was hoping for.

I didn't run into any issues, though with Wind it was kind of hard to lose. Solid entry :)

Elbativeni by Kiddy 2022-04-06T23:01:41Z

stuck.jpg

I managed to get stuck in a wall somehow :(

Otherwise - I like the look, and the mechanics are smart. Sound design is great too. I could tell where the monster was from which speaker the noise came from :) I felt the theme too as the rooms slowly collapsed or were locked out of the swap.

My suggestion would be to allow for zooming in/out with the mouse wheel -- I think it'd play really nice this way.

teleBOTation by Phoenix Fireflower 2022-04-06T22:01:15Z

Lots of good things to say about this one: - The music changing as you plug the batteries back in was a nice touch. - Solid animation works, feels very polished for a 2 day game! - Great puzzles :) The later levels were appropriately challenging. - I haven't seen a puzzle game teleportation mechanics quite like this, plus points for innovation.

Only issues is that sometimes it was hard to get the 'swap' prompt to show up. I'd end up teleporting right to a battery that I wanted to swap with. I couldn't divine the specific logic; at first I thought I couldn't do it while I was in motion, but I got that to work. Was a little finnicky.

Delay the Invasion by Corporation 2022-04-08T06:14:13Z

I love the gameplay. Reminds me of some old WarCraft III mods. With some more robust RPG systems and units I could see myself sinking a lot of time into a full version :) High rating from me.

Love the noise the upgraded archers make.

Feedback: - I'd make the gold display much larger and show where gold is coming from. (Is it from kills? Seemed to be from kills) - Fonts and UI elements are generally very small, w/ a large play area. Far left/right didn't get much usage. UI could use up that space. - Some sort of health indicator that doesn't require mouse hover would be nice too.

Death Is Real. by waffleworksgames 2022-04-06T22:28:27Z

Overall: extremely well done. The inevitability of death fits very well with the theme. Great polish, atmosphere, graphics, puzzles. Certainly one of the best put-together experiences I've seen so far :) I made it all the way through. High ratings from me.

If I could provide constructive feedback: I was frustrated with the level of precision and speed you had to move the pieces around. I found myself wishing for a pause feature, or time to stop and think before the puzzle began. Often times I'd be a pixel off in my placement and I'd get the error noise and die :( It felt like I was fighting the controls more than trying to solve a puzzle in some cases.

Timeflight Alpha by Quinn_Patrick 2022-04-05T06:45:01Z

My score was 421200. The bonus shots absolutely shred, a lot of fun with that. Audio was great. Music especially. Nice entry :)

I did find the powerups a bit small.

Dire Darkness by jsmitq 2022-04-06T05:29:50Z

I liked what you did with the lighting. Shooting/headshot mechanics worked well, and had good special effects. Ambitious to go 3D and using a new engine for LD. Props for that.

I don't know that I have anything to add that others haven't said, but my general feeling: - I was a zombie buffet, but my health bar barely moved. Increasing the difficulty would enhance the thematic element. I didn't feel the pressure because the zombies individually weren't much of a threat. - Adding some more mechanics (score? new zombie type?) -- something to enhance interest past the minute mark. Maybe this wouldn't be an issue if I had felt more afraid of the zombies.

Garden of Death by Flawed_Gamer 2022-04-05T06:11:20Z

I love games like this. Strategic sandbox. Cool idea, and thematic with the increasing prices. I had to make some risky decisions like, "Do I water this now? But what if the rose needs watering soon? Should I save up?" Definitely one of my favorite submissions gameplay-wise.

That said, it took me awhile to figure out what was going on, and the pacing seems a bit fast. I wasn't ever able to get more than a few plants up and running before they'd die. Didn't get to see the benefits of using them :(

Great job overall.

Chess? by dreamscale 2022-04-05T06:25:04Z

I wasn't expecting a game this deep! You definitely have to think a few moves ahead to stop your pieces from slaughtering each other. Piece drafting reminded me of AutoChess. Fun strategic decisions.

I have nothing bad to say. I'd play more of this. Bravo :)

Stacktics by Sam Bigos 2022-04-08T06:30:39Z

Totally on-point with the theme. Maybe _the_ most on-point I've seen thus far. I had a moment of despair where I had no choice but to surrender to the end :( High marks for that.

Simple but very effective visuals; great contrast on the pieces, no confusion about what to do. Very nice entry :)

My only nitpicks: maybe could have used some background music? And the controls (while nice once I figured it out) took me a minute.

Slime Rise by haztro 2022-04-05T07:02:35Z

Wow. What a cool entry. Hypnotic synth music. Placing the scaffolding and houses felt very satisfying. The rising slime lent itself well to the theme. And the inhabitants have AI? Randomized levels? I can't believe this was done in 2 days. Awesome job :) Yours is my favorite so far.

Atlantis by lisyarus 2022-04-06T22:53:11Z

Looks amazing. Fun gameplay too. Took me a few runs to figure out which resources to go for, but went endless a few rounds after that :) Very impressive work for two days. A very strong entry that I will give high ratings.

Some feedback: - I'd like to have the cards closer to the resources so I can compare the costs w/ how much I have without moving my eyes as much. - Maybe add a background behind the text (or border) for more accessible reading against variable backgrounds. - 3s was a little fast per card for me, especially when I was just getting started.

Keep it Secret by Zettabit 2022-04-06T05:14:08Z

Bonus points for "Shadynasty" :D She ultimately did me in. Her and Sally.

Humor points for the conversation noises. I had a grin.

I did find the reputation system cryptic. It's another way to lose, right? I noticed the bar going down but wasn't sure why.

KEEP THE POWER by caudatecoder 2022-04-06T06:00:31Z

This took me a few tries to get the right balance of journalists/police on the first section. I like the management aspect and gaining the ability to make choices depending on how you're focusing your effort. Theme is staggeringly relevant.

Poignant message at the end. After playing your game I made a donation to the International Rescue Committee to help Ukrainian refugees. I hope this crisis will end soon. I cannot even imagine.

Always Dying by eggsscrambled 2022-04-05T03:55:24Z

Difficult to start with, but once I got the hang of it, hectic and fun :)

Quite polished. Nice visuals, even included a tutorial.

SILAS by googlypoo 2022-04-05T04:22:34Z

@benskca Glad you enjoyed it :)

SILAS by googlypoo 2022-04-05T04:22:49Z

@kbf123 Thanks for the feedback. I've updated the page.

SILAS by googlypoo 2022-04-05T05:32:53Z

@jordwest Thanks for pointing that out. It's a visual bug. You're only given 1 sprint on the first level, but the UI will display 2.

@firetwoonenine Thanks :>

@danonino @shorkiesoftware I agree. My experience was a little different than the player's as I knew all the solutions already ;) If I do an update post-LD I will definitely include a text skip.

SILAS by googlypoo 2022-04-08T02:22:46Z

Thanks for all the kind comments everyone  This is my first LD and I'm overwhelmed with the positivity + collaboration :)

@haztro I'll likely add a rewind function later on. Checkpointing is a good suggestion.

@corporation @sam-bigos Agree, could use a speed up :)

@caudatecoder Thanks for the playthrough. Always valuable to see how people interact!

@pierce-brooks I'm glad you enjoyed it :)

@incobalt Interesting. There's a possibility I messed up some of the layering w/ the colliders, I will take a look. Thanks.

@ollie-d Glad the UI will accommodate 5 digits of movement ;D Funny.

SILAS by googlypoo 2022-04-14T01:52:26Z

@xiris Glad you think so :) Thanks for the feedback, valid points.

@rasblo Thanks :>

@unpronounceable It's true, perhaps I could have swapped levels 2 and 3 :)

@cubanfrog Thank you :) That makes a lot of sense. Being able to pan the camera to see the whole layout will definitely be helpful.

Elite Disaster Response Team - Volcano! by Ryne 2022-04-06T21:27:09Z

This brought me back in time a bit :) Fun re-implementation of a classic. I think it fits very well with the theme, too. Clearly delaying the inevitable with each placement.

Drater by lomstfer 2022-04-08T05:58:19Z

Wasn't sure what I was doing at first, but understood shortly after the music hit. I never lasted long. Tough game! Cool aesthetic, nice music, thematic, haven't seen anything else quite like it. Solid entry :)

Mine did end up crashing, like you said.

LD51 — Every 10 seconds

Clocks & Cards by TerraCottaFrog 2022-10-05T06:02:42Z

I like the engine building elements. Getting a bunch of gears all at once was very satisfying! I listened to Ghostbomb's advice about the Winding key and I agree that it's super busted.

I also made a clock-themed card game so it was cool to see a similar take

Golfploration by Nicso 2022-10-08T20:45:11Z

What a cool game. This is one of my favorites so far :)

Great music, solid golf mechanics, neat puzzle elements. Took me awhile to understand at first but once I did I was hooked. Wonderful job

10 Steps to Elysium - Sword Practice by ghostbomb 2022-10-03T02:30:48Z

This reminds me of Transistor. I like the programming concept, though it was hard for me visualize where my character would end up because the cards didn't change orientation. Maybe that was the intent  Brain-burner for sure. Points for innovation and making me use my whole brain at once.

Pocko by ArnoChux 2022-10-09T06:24:15Z

I ran into a couple bugs that prevented me from moving :frowning2: Also I think it might make more sense for the timer to count down from ten rather than up from zero?

The animations are really smooth. I like the graphic style and music. Could see this becoming super fun with a little more time

Midnight Ninja by shared 2022-10-05T06:36:13Z

Really liked the wall jumping. Felt smooth to move around and kill stuff anime-style  I'll admit I didn't get it until I read the instructions, so it a more developed version you might want to introduce that mechanic through a tutorial somehow. Cool game! Haven't seen anything like this yet.

Parcel Problems. by Jacob Diaz 2022-10-04T05:58:49Z

Thematic, great presentation, maybe the best I've seen thus far. The heartbeat noises and the camera blur were nice touches.

My one gripe: I had a very hard time moving anything around without it getting stuck. Specifically getting the boxes onto the conveyor belt -- they'd snap up to the top shelf, or go flying off camera, or they'd get stuck on the wall. It felt very clumsy, and I assume this is by intention, but I found it more frustrating than fun. I couldn't get more than two boxes out :slight_frown:

EDIT: After reviewing the instructions again I realized I hadn't used the right click at all. Getting the items to move UP was really hard with just left click

Watch Out by 100th_Coin 2022-10-04T01:02:37Z

Great humor, like last time, and impressive graphics given the time constraint. Snappy platforming. Felt very complete.

I did find myself over-spinning the clock a lot, to my frustration

I also felt ghost blocks might help, but I think the game may become too simple in that case.

Overall well done

Negative-G by EX3D0 2022-10-03T02:21:59Z

Concept fits well with the theme. Good visuals and audio for what's there. I wasn't expecting it to end so quickly, though :( would have liked to play more.

Legend of the Broken Wand by thx4nothing 2022-10-03T02:47:57Z

I want to rate this but I can't get it to run for more than a few seconds :frowning2: I'm using the full screen version and it crashes the browser, and my anti-virus auto-deletes the downloadable version.

EDIT: Managed to get it to stay open for a few runs. I like the sounds and the different spells having unique behaviors was fun to play around with. I could see the 10 second swap intervals being very chaotic in a full version.

Pancake Simulator by alec 2022-10-04T01:48:33Z

Audio, visuals, animations are all on point. Some of the best I've seen so far! There's something satisfying about making the perfect pancake  Fun overall, if a little brief.

I kept running into a bug where I couldn't flip my third pancake, no matter what I did. It made the flip noise but it would just sit there, burning. :slight_frown:

Flying Out Of Time by realryanrogers 2022-10-05T06:08:17Z

Crispy sound effects! Made the shooting feel great. It took me a minute to get a hang of leading the targets and gauging exactly how far away they were. I liked the look too.

I also ran into the issue with the WebGL build freezing on exit.

Viam in tenebris by Bewelge 2022-10-03T01:58:17Z

Very thematic. I played until level 15. Controls well, great graphics and audio, but I felt it lacked the pressure of losing. I found if I didn't like where a wall was I'd just wait out the lightning until I got an easier pathway

10 Second Boss by coatline 2022-10-05T06:17:57Z

Oh my god the sounds. I actually laughed out loud at one point. The pink and purple gun was my favorite. I got to level 10 and quit because I stopped seeing new bosses and guns. Fun game, great humor  Very thematic too with the bosses spawning every 10 seconds.

Some awkwardness with the control scheme on gamepad; it's a twin-stick shooter but I had to take my thumb off the right stick to jump, would've preferred it on one of the shoulder buttons maybe?

The Landfill by Naemis 2022-10-03T05:30:22Z

Explosions are very satisfying. I didn't do very well on my first game though, only got to level 5 :sob:

Music adds a lot, dialogue scenes are well done, and skippable when needed. Impressive level of polish.

HEAT by EbbDrop 2022-10-03T05:39:05Z

This one was a little tricky to understand at first but once I got it I was blown away. Finding the keycard by scrubbing the footage was neat  Good incorporation of the theme. Spooky space horror atmosphere. I hope you dive into this concept for a full game.

Cadet Set Go by MrWarranty 2022-10-03T01:44:48Z

I like the concept of using a minigame to influence the bullet-hell components. That's something I hadn't seen before. Good humor. I got stuck on the fourth or fifth screen

Countdown Cowboy by waffleworksgames 2022-10-05T06:30:27Z

Fantastic presentation. Pixel art is great, music is thematic, and all the games work flawlessly. I ended up dying to the two tumbleweeds. I see the comparisons being drawn with WarioWare and I think that's spot on. Impressed that you were able to get this much done with this level of polish. Great job!

Limited Window by Justin Klinchuch 2022-10-04T23:45:24Z

What appeared simple at first had a surprising amount of depth  I didn't realize it was on a 10 second interval at first and I was very confused why I kept dying. Helps if you read the instructions! I liked how the dangerous areas appeared as you got closer to them, it allowed you to be very subtle with positioning.

The timing window for the button was really tight on the last level, might help if you had a countdown before it starts so that the player is ready.

Ludum Dare by She Wrote 2022-10-04T01:14:10Z

I chuckled at this. Unique concept

I found myself in a scenario where the computer wouldn't work no matter how many times I hit it, or what I hit it with. Maybe that's the point. You've made me realize something here.

Silver Platter by velaachlorine 2022-10-04T01:41:01Z

Banger song. Good visuals. I typically like games that require multitasking so this was up my alley. Wrapped in a nice menu, too.

That said: Game's really hard. I think the most viruses I got was three, and I don't think I was ever able to fix the hard drive trouble. Possible I was doing something wrong. Could've used control prompts in the game window instead of just hidden in Help.

Solid entry

Connie by Payaosito 2022-10-04T05:48:42Z

As cool as the the elements are, I feel like it'd be much much more intuitive it you had to match the color of the orb with the color of your attacks. As it was, I had to keep your diagram up from the instructions because I couldn't tell what beat what.

Good presentation, I like the music too. Felt thematic with the 10 second shifts. I got nowhere close to winning though

Last Defense by Pixelydian 2022-10-04T23:57:00Z

Great visual clarity with the use of color. Felt very retro. Music fit your genre, and the theme was present in the game mechanics too. Well done

I actually died on the tutorial because I ran into the ground, embarrassing.

it could be worse by Neollok 2022-10-03T02:42:17Z

Took a minute to understand what was happening, but ended up having a lot of fun. Great humor, controls feel good (even when inverted) and theme was core to gameplay.

What can I say? It could be worse.

Convenience Catastrophe by MasterOfCheese 2022-10-05T06:24:34Z

I got killed by a big corn monster :slight_frown:

I never thought I'd be bunny hopping around a convenience store throwing soda at pop-tarts in a Ludum Dare game, but here we are. I like the wacky humor and presentation. Controlled pretty well too, and the theme was core to the game mechanics. Great job!

Clockwork by googlypoo 2022-10-02T23:06:45Z

Known issues: - You can stack Minions on top of each other. This is not intended.

Clockwork by googlypoo 2022-10-03T02:54:47Z

@delightfullymad I knew there were some edge cases I missed  Thanks

Clockwork by googlypoo 2022-10-04T05:40:31Z

Thanks to everyone who played  @thx4nothing @linwenhao @davidbradbury @dyguests @haydads @rickylee @ghostbomb @ex3d0

I worked hard on this and I hope it shows.

It is difficult but I felt that made it more engaging. I originally tuned the Minions much stronger and I felt like I could just coast to the end behind them, and as a player I didn't need to think about my decisions any more. Like any card game sometimes you get great draws and sometimes no so much  I think the Repair card is very strong right now, and I'll also add: you don't need to kill the boss, you just have to deplete the Beast deck to win. At least for this version

Clockwork by googlypoo 2022-10-06T01:56:06Z

@dnivie If you stack Tune-up correctly you can get the power levels very high

@bassilij @sayurinyooko I'm glad you enjoyed it, that's wonderful.

@stupidhobbit No base code. I had thought about making this type of game before though, so I had an idea of how I wanted to architect it. And yeah I agree, I'd imagine it can get slow on repeat playthroughs. For the first few, I wanted to make sure people had time to read the cards.

@eugenik I think there is a lot of variance depending on your draw and how the enemies spawn. There are likely some cases that are extremely difficult or not winnable from the beginning-- if I had more time to work I'd do another balance pass to prevent that kind of thing from happening.

@pixelydian Thank you so much :)

@climbing-dolphin I'm glad you find it fun! I was worried it would not be.

Clockwork by googlypoo 2022-10-06T04:43:22Z

@mrwarranty cancelling cards was one QoL feature I had on the list but didn't get to. You're 100% right.

Cat Jam by Frib 2022-10-03T02:15:49Z

I got the worst ending :( 23 cats slaughtered, and lost my arm.

Really nice design. Emulated the escape room experience very well. I never would've thought to make a game like this. Props for good audio and puzzle design. Great entry

10 Second Testing by Triangle Point 2022-10-04T01:25:25Z

I like the idea of different types of puzzles every 10 seconds. You had a good mix in there. I think adding some randomization or procedural generation might be a cool addition.

Aberration by waterfowler 2022-10-04T23:34:34Z

I wasn't expecting the hacking minigame when approaching the terminals. I liked the subtle color aura on those sections. I like that you managed to fit a narrative in, too.

Tower Boy by Chuckiee 2022-10-05T00:05:05Z

I like the graphic style. I especially like the three different songs for the three different phases that ranged in intensity, great for setting the mood. I also felt you harnessed the theme very well with the 10 second phases. I think the decisions required for that time frame were appropriately sized.

Observations: I never got any coins. Even after leveling it would still stay at zero. I'm not sure what "Size" meant, but I put all my points into size and nothing seemed to change  And as others mentioned, I'm not sure why you'd position yourself anywhere other than the center for the positioning phase, it seemed to give you the clearest shot on all the enemies.

OVERLOADED! by busisen 2022-10-04T01:08:16Z

Great visuals, some of the nicest I've seen in a compo game. Controls great. I saw there was a leaderboard feature, too. High level of polish.

LD52 — Harvest

Harvest From Your Success by jk5000 2023-01-10T01:13:35Z

This one had me exclaiming "WTF is this" :joy: Poignant, introspective. Not things I'd normally expect in a Ludum Dare game. I got the 'happy' ending. I think? I ignored the big empty trophy at the end.

Graphics are great, good audio. Made me think. You really went for something. Well done :)

Lil Death by ghostbomb 2023-01-11T06:40:01Z

Attacking feels *great*, and I love how you can influence the direction. Very nice animation and movement. Knockback on hit felt a little punishing especially when there's so much on screen trying to hit you already :triumph: it's also possible I just suck. I gave this one a few tries, the highest I got was 8.

Vegetableau by bentglasstube 2023-01-13T03:41:47Z

Looks great, very easy to play. Similar to a slide puzzle. Some of the levels get tricky. Well done!

Halloween Harvest by muriel 2023-01-13T01:41:49Z

Shooting feels good! I like the funny sounds, the reload noise especially. I was able to find some success by 'flinging' pumpkins into the bins while sprinting. Overall feels pretty good to play. I like the chaos, and feeling like I only had a narrow victory.

Mountain of the Dragon Fruits by thomas-olsson 2023-01-12T06:09:57Z

Excellent game. Awesome (and sometimes gruesome) pixel art and animation, fun puzzle mechanics and design. You even kill two birds with one stone at a point. Quite a few levels, too. I'm impressed this was a 48 hour project. One of my favorite entries, great job!

Defend The Apple Harvest by jaywoody 2023-01-13T03:27:05Z

Impressive graphics. The thieferinos are adorable  Feels good to throw the apples.

I had trouble figuring out how to harvest and deposit apples, but I was able to get it after awhile.

Reaper by aevek 2023-01-12T03:28:34Z

I liked this one. The controls are smooth, the pixel art is nice, satisfying sounds. I was impressed by the number of levels. I played through the whole thing. Nice entry.

Death In Time by Yorsh 2023-01-13T01:15:25Z

This feels great to play! Impressed by the models, animation, and overall game feel.

I was frustrated that I couldn't see the life bar of villagers who were further away, and it felt slow while I was waiting for the life bars to fill. Maybe add something to do in the meantime? Or maybe I should've been using that time to scout out the villagers and determine the best order for killing. Not sure the intent

None of your beesness! by SupremeKurt 2023-01-10T00:59:38Z

Charming. Love the bee movement noise, I have a feeling that's going to be stuck in my head for awhile. Great colors. I almost did a bee game myself.

I think I echo the frustrations of some others with the puzzle design, it seems like there's a lot of guessing involved, which upsets the logical side of my brain :triumph:

I ran into a bug (not the bee :stuck_out_tongue: ) when running out of honey I couldn't move, which is the lose state, but it didn't seem like there was any way to reset the level without restarting the game completely.

Planetary Mining CO. by Mcnuttys 2023-01-12T05:47:24Z

minedout.png

All mined out! I was kind of hoping there'd be something secret at the end  I'm giving this high points for innovation and graphics. Looks great, and blew my mind a little when I realized there were multiple layers.

That said, I was feeling a little strain from all the clicking, and there wasn't anything to do with the resources. I have a hunch you didn't get to flesh that out with the time constraint. What's there is nice.

Harvest Looper by madcoil 2023-01-13T06:00:50Z

I love the gameplay. The tension of getting your farming done quickly and building up a defense from the monsters is great. I think what you've built here has a ton of room for expansion, too. This is sick. One of my favorites. Great job.

Hortirata by Szieberth Adam 2023-01-11T00:25:25Z

I like the idea but like others here I'm finding it too hard to figure out how the interactions work :slight_frown: I am not sure how to win, couldn't get through the first level. Definitely a brain burner.

Harvest Moon by Brinegamers Productions 2023-01-10T02:57:43Z

Nice little short story. I don't usually see this type of entry in Ludum Dare, so points for doing something different

45 hours is a lot of time to spend in a 48 hour window, congratulations on finishing. I hope you got everything in that you wanted and now you can find some rest!

Samhain by daitli 2023-01-10T02:36:58Z

I told myself I wouldn't only give glowing positive feedback this time-- By the time I reached 60 souls, I was looking for something to change the pace and the game started to feel repetitive.

That said, the level of visual polish is enviable. Great feel, weighty chains, screen shake, and the blinding light when you look up? And this is a compo game? Well done. Bravo

Plant Harvester by zimny11 2023-01-13T01:24:23Z

This reminds me of Vampire Survivors, but you're a combine. I thought I was being clever wedging myself into a corner until the cauliflower came from behind the wall :frowning2:

I like the animations. That corn cob! :corn:

Soul Season by goldenXD 2023-01-11T01:36:08Z

hp_bug.png

I ran into an issue where my health bar would flicker like this after upgrading my HP... not sure what was happening there  Also, the camera will shake if you click the background in the shop. Nothing that prevented me from playing though, well done!

The feedback on hits was great. I liked being able to customize my stats. I put most of them into speed and life steal and I quickly got to a point where I couldn't die, but it was still very satisfying to hit stuff. Fun to play. Good job.

Noxious Harvest by Pe7e 2023-01-12T03:37:23Z

Hey, I won!

Impressive visuals. I don't usually see this level of fidelity in Compo games, great modelling and shader work. Like the others mentioned (and I know you opted out of this category) I think some audio would've gone a long way.

Fun puzzle, great work.

Hartifacts by lisyarus 2023-01-11T07:02:56Z

Game feels great to play. Placing roads, connecting cities, feedback is fantastic. The rippling animations on level start and the truck driving when you finish the level are excellent touches. Puzzle design is on point, too. You have to be very thoughtful when choosing upgrades. This is one of my favorites entries so far  I played through the whole thing.

One UX gripe -- I couldn't tell how much a piece cost to place before I bought it, which messed my math up sometimes. Luckily it was easy to restart the level.

Moon Harvester by owca 2023-01-10T00:39:19Z

Atmospheric. Great vibes. I eventually finished it but my first two attempts I ran into the side of the crater

Very helpful to include a guide image. I was a little overloaded when I first saw it, but the game ended up being a lot simpler than I first imagined.

I think someone else mentioned it being a lot like Snake, and I agree, but the space was large enough that I never ran into issues with the length of my tail. Only the side of the crater, which is stationary and obvious. Huh.

Maize - Harvest Edition LD52 by Itzemii 2023-01-11T06:52:34Z

huh.png

My combine ended up off the track somehow...

Something feels a little buggy with the controls. My combine ended up going backwards a lot, or teleporting. I couldn't finish the first level without it getting stuck.

I like how it speeds up if you're accurate with the turns, makes you feel rewarded for being skillful

I like the music!

Harvest Skin by mikyokyuji 2023-01-11T06:46:45Z

You can easily win by clicking near your chosen fish at the start and then running away once it takes the lead  Cute little game, I like how the different fish have unique personalities. Unique take on the theme too.

Mineralia by googlypoo 2023-01-08T20:09:36Z

Known bugs: - Background music doesn't loop.

Mineralia by googlypoo 2023-01-10T00:47:17Z

Thank you for playing!

@horda If I had some extra time I might've added alternate difficulty levels with more or less days or crystals. The longer the game goes, the more upgrades I'd have to design, so I limited the scope for LD

@ben-burnes Haha, yes, the map is purely RNG! If I were to continue I'd homogenize the distributions even more, and perhaps add higher yield resources further into the darkness, or making resources near your spawn point expire, to force expansion. There are structures in the game to compensate for a lack of natural gold veins and crystals, but they are further up the tech tree so you'd definitely be disadvantaged versus someone who gets them right by the first lantern.

Mineralia by googlypoo 2023-01-13T01:03:55Z

@brinegamers-productions @salvation @owca @found-bow-tonight @stevencolling Thank you for the kind words and for playing

@pazzi I hadn't heard of For The King before but I definitely see the likeness. I'm not sure what you mean about the audio though, there should be sound

@ghostbomb Yep, that was me too! I was able to apply some of the lessons I learned from building Clockwork to make this more quickly. Glad you're back

Mineralia by googlypoo 2023-01-13T01:33:04Z

@pazzi Oh, that's a relief. I realize what the issue might be, the background music isn't looping like it should. The rest of the audio is all based on selection and placement, so it's easy to miss.

Mineralia by googlypoo 2023-01-13T19:55:10Z

@forik Thank you for playing! I understand & agree. I had planned for more action feedback on structures (particularly how they impact your resources stockpiles on placement and per turn) but I ran out of time.

@kr0k @rob6566 Thanks for playing, glad you enjoyed it ๐Ÿ˜Š

Mineralia by googlypoo 2023-01-14T06:33:01Z

Thanks to everyone who played! I've made it to 20 ratings

@smeljey You can't place buildings near the edge of the map, which is the problem you were running into. I need to make it so resources can't spawn there. I also like @orhu 's suggestion of spawning the player in the middle.

@orhu I had almost finished the resources/day feature when I ran out of time. Totally agree. Great points.

Mineralia by googlypoo 2023-01-24T22:11:57Z

@itzemii Totally agree -- I kept it jam-sized for the sake of LD but I can think of many ways I could expand the gameplay :)

@zimny11 Thanks for playing, happy you enjoyed it!

@bentglasstube You're totally right on the bonuses, I initially had more upgrades planned but they didn't make it in time, so you can take that bonus earlier than I wanted and trivialize the game. You can mine crystals by building mines next to them, though if the crystal is outside of the map boundary it won't let you. On an iteration I'd spawn the player further in and prevent resources from spawning in unbuildable areas.

Mineralia by googlypoo 2023-01-29T21:24:49Z

Wow, 32nd! Thanks to everyone who rated. Very happy with my result  I never thought I'd place this high.

Carrot Jack by RobLaro 2023-01-10T02:24:01Z

This game feels great to play. Animation and sound is fantastic. Very responsive.

Like the poster above I realized it was better to save up carrots and harvest them all at once rather than try to go through the whole cycle. I found myself getting a lot of resources I couldn't use, like seeds with no hole, so I wonder if a recycle or trash feature would work well.

Harvest Mole by Yumepix 2023-01-11T06:29:21Z

I got 59 points! At first I thought I was doing something wrong because the mole took more than one whack.

Seed Your Weed by LordDrw 2023-01-12T03:45:26Z

I like how the fields show the plants, water, etc. progressively as you perform tasks. Very thematic game.

Eon Reaper by Kelvin Mulungu 2023-01-11T06:23:33Z

I made it to level 6. I don't think I understand how the movement or puzzle mechanics work... :slight_frown: I had a hard time getting the wall jump to activate or jumping high enough to make it to the portals. I feel like I brute-forced some of them by mashing space until my character climbed high enough to make it.

The presentation and music are fantastic, though

Skล™รญtek: The Nemesis of Harvest by kr0k 2023-01-12T05:53:11Z

Nice pixel art, and I like the trivia

I found myself accidentally clicking on the music toggle when trying to shoot the house in the top right. It may benefit to not have the UI overlaying the play area.

Sizzling Harvest by mihkelroomet 2023-01-13T01:00:15Z

This reminds me of some aim trainers I've played!

I like the text advance noise and the fire animation. Overall it felt good to play. When I finished, the game restarted before I could make a mental note of my score :slight_frown: I'm sure it was low. Maybe that's okay

Isle of Harvest by StevenColling 2023-01-11T00:40:38Z

I fell off the island chasing a piece of wood from a tree on the edge to find there's nothing down there :frowning:

Graphics are stellar. The actions you take in the game are right on point with the theme. I did find it confusing to play at first but once I realized you could click to harvest bushes and trees and such it started making more sense.

LD54 — Limited Space

BoxBox by mao 2023-10-04T20:01:15Z

I don't think I understand this one :frowning2: what are we trying to do?

I was able to place the circles and brackets but after that I didn't know what I was going for.

Fit by mahalis 2023-10-04T06:19:25Z

Great visuals and I like how the movement felt when you hit the arrow keys.

Trouble In Paradise by Nick Rafalski 2023-10-05T06:21:14Z

I got everyone partying :sunglasses: :tada:

The tech here is amazing for 48 hours. You have a mini-map, and procedurally generated islands, and fog of war, which aren't trivial! Well done

Only gripe is that I accidentally dumped my inventory on accident -- maybe add some friction there.

Don't Skip the Ship! by Bloham 2023-10-04T20:07:00Z

I see we've made similar games  I like how the ships come in with different sizes and the movement makes it a little more challenging.

It'd be nice to see what the score threshold is for a ship before it sails off. I also had a bug where the pieces would be offset from the "grid" and take up more collider space than they should. Also the highlight not updating like someone mentioned above.

On the Ice by Linus Lindberg 2023-10-03T03:18:40Z

I just set the best time on The Snake  I'm sure someone will beat me by tomorrow.

This was a lot of fun. I see how the theme fits. The skating felt smooth and like you were moving quickly.

Force Field Sokoban by oller125 2023-10-04T06:51:33Z

Dozer Dash by IDidGame 2023-10-05T19:45:04Z

231! I took a few tries. This was fun. I didn't realize I had a special until my third run, which was a big game-changer. Well done

textures_failed_to_load by Yorsh 2023-10-04T20:42:05Z

This game is cool :sunglasses: The gameplay is tight and the choice over what gets revealed when you pick up the RAM wasn't something I'd seen before.

I got stuck on the puzzle level because I accidentally killed the friendly robot, because I had revealed something else already.

Obelisk by Untitled Studios 2023-10-02T22:25:37Z

The game looks and feels great to play. You have a cohesive visual style and some great animations. The music was good too.

I did not find the mechanics intuitive. Luckily you included a guide on the page or I would've been lost  Even with that, the goal of the game was difficult for me to discern. I enjoyed pushing the mining blocks into the cracked walls.

I initially clicked on this one because of the aesthetic style, and you did not disappoint. Solid entry

Sampler by caeonosphere 2023-10-03T03:28:31Z

This is incredible. Immensely polished compo entry. The room-based puzzles give me Portal, Antechamber, Manifold Garden vibes in the best way. I'm really impressed you made something that plays this good in 48 hours. What a mood. Great ending.

Floodwater by John Gabriel 2023-10-02T22:30:58Z

Great level design & I think it's wonderful how you introduce the new mechanics on their own mini-level. Feels very complete despite the low level count, but it's a 48 hour jam so I'm not sure I can expect more

If there was a level design rating category, I'd give you 5 stars there

Uplimit by Mooptychunk 2023-10-05T23:21:40Z

That was not the ending I expected

I had fun trying to find the most efficient configuration of pieces. I liked how the window grew with each uplimit, very thematic!

The chirping noise got a little grating with dozens of pieces out.

Super Low Memory Bot by LaserPanzerWal 2023-10-04T19:49:56Z

Reminds me of the ice puzzles from the old Zelda or Pokemon games. You nailed the Gameboy look and feel, it made me feel nostalgic  Impressive number of puzzles and mechanics, too. Well done.

Forest Nothing by Corporation 2023-10-02T23:19:13Z

You managed to recreate my childhood AoE2 memories in 48h

I loved this game. I put on the AoE2 soundtrack in the background while I played, it all fit perfectly together. This game made me happy, well done

Hexed by Tesseract 2023-10-04T06:56:31Z

I thought this was simple, but a lot of fun to play. Impressive that it seems to have online play, AI, and matchmaking? In a compo game?

Space Way by MrSamafu 2023-10-04T00:43:50Z

It's a lot of fun to say the name "Space Way" so props for that

It's a pretty familiar puzzle concept, which I enjoyed. There came a point where you introduce the doubling back mechanic which was initially kind of an "aha" but then I realized it trivializes all the puzzles -- you can just go back and make all of the squares yellow with no repercussion.

I liked the graphics and atmosphere. The intro animation was cute. I had fun with this, great work

Burden Dungeon by Paroxysmal 2023-10-03T23:45:28Z

I like the use of lighting. There were some times where I got lost in the dark before I figured out how to use the lantern. I went into the tower and found the locked basement, but I think the monster inside figured out how to get out and kill me :skull:

floating rock in space by indivicivet 2023-10-02T22:40:26Z

I like the music and audio, and I think it's thematic, too. If anything the space limits TOO quickly for me

I had an odd moment where I couldn't tell if I was doing damage to the larger rocks. I think they just have a lot of health.

A small town by AdamsMcCall 2023-10-03T23:51:25Z

This was fun. I got to 37 kill and 6 height after figuring out what to do. I died immediately on my first game  I really like how you implemented the "danger" mechanic, I knew exactly when to duck and hide. I was able to find success by building a tower, it seemed like the baddies had trouble getting up to the top floor. Well done, good entry

Dwarf Monastery by hotaloca 2023-10-04T19:57:22Z

I cannot figure out how to play :slight_frown: I'm able to place tiles but I can't seem to do anything with the Plan panel and the voice complains about an empty shift.

M8B1674-00D4 by a327ex 2023-10-02T23:23:37Z

This game is beautifully done; intuitive to play, feels great to place pieces. Great work.

Greasy Justice by kasmilus 2023-10-03T00:19:52Z

Sorry, I could not figure out how to play this :frowning2: There was too much going on for me to understand.

That said, I think the presentation is great. Fascinating color scheme, great graphics and interface design.

Mind Adventum by ArcherOfFaith 2023-10-03T00:01:45Z

I got to the ending, but the text faded before I could finish reading it :frowning2:

TOBISHA by aerial 2023-10-03T02:57:12Z

I think it might be too easy. Because the enemies did not seem to harm me I was wondering "how do I win?" Later I realized it is a survival game. I had so much cash that bills weren't a problem.

I think your concept is interesting and fits the theme

CaveBots by quasilyte 2023-10-04T20:26:56Z

I was defeated :( I was always out of energy. It didn't seem like I had much agency about what bots I could find; it was almost always generators and I needed turrets or patrol bots.

I love the cave excavation mechanics, and the AI + pathing was great. Didn't run into any issues, well done with that

Escape the maze by bayunyoubi 2023-10-03T01:19:58Z

LD57 — Depths

Punch Miner by recursor 2025-04-12T00:00:33Z

Jump being on Z and not on space is killing me :sob: I use the same finger for Z as I do to move left with A, so I can't easily do both at the same time.

Even with that though, I think your mechanics are well put together. The jumping and hanging feel great. The ropes were super fun to swing on once you got the hang of the hitbox. I didn't make it very far though because restarting from the beginning felt a little demoralizing, I could've used checkpoints, maybe one you can buy.

Overall very solid, great work

Target Practice by JCMonkey 2025-04-08T01:14:12Z

I wasn't ready for an aim trainer  I need to brush up on my shooting skills. I like the distracting animals slowly panning across the screen, too. That was funny. I think if you added a leaderboard to this people would play again and again.

I had an issue where a single click could count as both a hit and a miss, not sure what that was about. Also I think if you were good enough the game could go on forever as you could add time faster than it counted down.

I had fun with it though. Well done.

Buried Under Profits by tinykidtoo 2025-04-10T03:18:48Z

This controls fantastically. Shooting feels good, great feedback when you hit the mines, and thematic too. The laser sharks killed me more than once. Cool entry overall

Mirror City by vidarn 2025-04-11T23:20:08Z

This game is so sick. Absolutely love the puzzles and style. Immensely creative. I found myself wanting an undo button but the restart button was good enough.

Bit of a brain burner! Very strong entry, amazing job  Highest marks I've given so far. I'm envious of your ability to come up with something like this. win.jpg

Enter Exit by DiscoFish 2025-04-11T23:50:12Z

The animation and humor are fantastic  It was a fun little puzzle figuring out which mushroom had which effect, though I wasn't sure what Vomit or Spores meant. On my first playthrough it froze after I gave the enemy the first mushroom and I had to restart, but it worked after that. Impressive

ABSEIL by baknik 2025-04-09T01:03:38Z

The swinging was hard to figure out. I'm still not fully sure I understand it :frowning2:

I like the game concept and it's very thematic. Reminds me a little of Jusant in the opposite direction ;)

ONLY GO DOWN by jefvel 2025-04-10T03:35:43Z

1:35 on 5 tries :)

Animation + music are stunning. Love the visual style with the limited field of view and black and white. Parrying the walls and zooming around in space felt good.

The only thing that didn't stick with me was falling to my death, I didn't feel like I had much control over that because I couldn't really see what was coming. I found spam clicking the entire time to be somewhat effective

Overall very impressive with minor gripes

Sighetto: Dual Descent by meskaline 2025-04-11T23:43:48Z

The instructions zoomed past me before I had a chance to read them :(

I think you have an interesting concept with switching between worlds but it didn't feel especially utilized in the level design. I think there's some good potential with the mechanic though, and the art was good. Good job.

Meaning by Sharks 2025-04-08T02:25:03Z

I love word games. I did a few rounds scouring my brain for synonyms but there wasn't really any reward for getting one correct other than yet another word that I might not know any synonyms for  I didn't know 'vitrolic' (was it supposed to be 'vitriolic'?) so I wished there was a skip function. Some of the words I typed didn't work when I expected them to, like 'demoralized' and 'disheartened' for 'discouraged'. I guess you could argue they're not true synonyms.

That said, it's impressive for a 3 hour job. I haven't played anything else like it yet. Well done.

DESCEND with CAUTION by LightningST 2025-04-08T02:06:48Z

score.jpg

This is very impressive! I actually liked it more without the music, I felt the subtle sounds went well with the constant fear of death  The launchers were the hardest part for me, I spent a long time doing it wrong and discovered there was a much easier way later on.

I went in expecting something much less polished. The gravestones where you die were a nice touch. I feel like you accomplished exactly what you were hoping for with this, well done.

Igbi Goes Deep by Jared Saizdelamora 2025-04-10T03:06:16Z

I think you have some good ideas and presentation but I had a hard time figuring out what to do, and like others mentioned I found the text very hard to read. I also got stuck on walls fairly often so the platforming didn't feel as tight as it could.

That said, the music is great and I like the 3D. I think your concept is unique so I'm going to give you good points in innovation. You did some cool stuff, good job

A Memory of Her by ConradoClark 2025-04-12T00:12:21Z

This feels delightful to play! Great graphics, feedback, I even liked the little story bits. If anything it felt a little too easy, but that's probably for the best for a jam like this  I like memory games so this was a hit for me. Great job

Digdigdig by hubol 2025-04-11T02:28:14Z

The animation and atmosphere is delightful!

I felt I was missing something though as the enemies were very tough, I couldn't kill a single one. It felt very hard to avoid taking damage. Digging up secret items was fun, though. Cool game :sunglasses:

WanderWood by AdamCYounis 2025-04-08T02:41:20Z

I watched you work on part of this on stream  I think it's a thematic game and has very interesting and innovative puzzle mechanics, but I'm afraid a lot of it went over my head.

It's beautifully animated and that helps build understanding of how you move between the layers. I love how you could see your shadow in the layer beyond to determine the position. I didn't really understand what the colorful grass meant for and I think at times I glitched into a layer I wasn't supposed to be in. I ended up getting one of the special collectibles accidentally.

I think there's a ton here but it's a little too heady for me and I didn't finish. I needed a tutorial

Echoes of the Deep by nyxkn 2025-04-08T23:45:28Z

Is there any point to killing the enemies? After a certain point I ended up running past them instead of fighting  The sound effects were hysterical. Maybe a little loud. Sounded like someone was sneezing repeatedly.

I'd have loved to see more spells or ways to fight. Enemy variety and length was great. Music was especially good. Solid entry

Knocking On Hell's Door by Frib 2025-04-09T00:28:33Z

I got to floor 16! Very Doom-ish. I'm a full believer in having a railgun in each hand.

I feel like the crux of my feedback would be "more of this, please" and I have a feeling you already have a million more things you'd add if you had the time.

Cool to see another GDKO-er here. Great job

I didn't quite finish. I got to the level with the tree but losing all my progress missing a jump was too much  The floor is quite slippery. I had what seemed like inconsistency in where I'd spawn in the 3D world-- sometimes I'd do the exact same thing twice and get a different position.

I think your concept is awesome and you nailed the theme. Someone else mentioned FEZ and that's immediately where my mind went too. I love puzzlers like this and you went very ambitious, great entry

Net. Sweeper by Absolute Garbage 2025-04-11T23:37:44Z

I feel like my success is largely dependent on my experience with Minesweeper in the past -- I'm not especially fast so restarting all the way from the beginning after a single mistake ruined this a bit for me :(

That said it's impressive work for 48h. I'm afraid I didn't really understand the bullet mechanics. I got to level 3.

Through The Stars by Xackii 2025-04-09T00:41:45Z

I didn't get very far in this because I kept crashing my ship, but I like it. I wish there was some indicator where the station was. The steering wheel mode was hilarious.

It took me a minute to realize you can steer AND move at the same time. Initially I went steer, launch, stop, repeat. The game opened up a bit after I figured it out.

Cool game. Unique. Well done

Drifting Granny by the-cellist 2025-04-10T03:27:58Z

I liked this. The music and the atmosphere were calming. I liked granny showing her muscles

This is really well done! It took me awhile to understand (I'm definitely more of a learn by doing person than a reader) but once I did it felt tight. The lines are satisfying to draw and the system feedback is good. Very fun & strategic game, good job.

Drop Into Hell by boboneoone 2025-04-08T23:34:11Z

I liked playing this. You chose a good color palette and I liked the dissolve animations on the enemies + the floor at the end. The parallax and screen shake made the game feel great.

I think others may have mentioned already but your health doesn't reset on a second run, so everything kills you in one hit :(

Overall it's great, I think you could do a lot of fun stuff with this

Star in The Core by Follusior 2025-04-08T02:18:36Z

This felt like a fever dream. I was audibly saying "WTF is this"

The star is relatable to me. Sometimes I try to do things too, but noodles.

Well animated, cool music. I like how it got more intense as it went down. Good job

Shootwell by Sevatoxin 2025-04-11T01:37:49Z

This has a great arcade feel. I kept playing again and again. Awesome first entry. Good sounds, feedback, easy mechanics. I think having some different guns or powerups would be cool. Well done
