LD33 — You are the Monster

Monster Factory by UntitledQ 2015-08-25T17:55:00

Very original entry and made me thought of Wizball from C64 times.

I was semi thrown off by the monster logo but I guess I should've expected that in some of these entries. :)

All in all a very solid entry!

The Much Loved Monster by IndigoWolf 2015-08-24T13:07:00

This is great! I really liked the whole setting of this game. Too bad it's so short. I would've wanted to see how Terrovium fares under my iron grip.

Also I think you should take the [1] option out of the first screen of choices if you have completed that already.

I really liked this! Hopefully you will expand on this.

Dragon Tale: Acquisition by vivavolt 2015-08-24T03:10:00

I liked this very much. A lot of coding went in to this as well some polishing with the intro and the maps. This seems like a more polished game than you would expect in a 48 hour competition.

Some tutorial or infobox about the z key would've been nice but I guess that's nitpicking. :)

Nice job!

Lil' Drake by bombjack 2015-08-24T11:29:00

Very nice game mechanic. Flappy bird meets vampire action game. Levels were nicely laid out. I liked that I could see my previously dead corpses wiggling when the saws ran through'em. :)

Could've used some audio.

Very nice and fun game!

ENTROPY by ENDESGA 2015-08-24T02:47:00

Very nice sounds and setting of the mood. I was kinda anxious to wait if there would be some actual gameplay in this, but alas. No such luck.

Still a very nice mood piece and the graphics and the sounds were perfect together!

Hunting by oab 2015-08-24T01:38:00

I really like the graphical style. I just hoped there would be more to this than what there was.

This is a time crunch, I understand but I would've liked to see more interaction.

Also the end didn't open up to me as it went by quite fast.

I liked the graphical style, but more to do would've been nice. :)

Meow! by tiffi 2015-08-24T04:26:00

The chi-ching sound makes you smile every time! :)

Ghost Academy by jorgemoag 2015-08-24T11:52:00

I liked the graphics a lot. I didn't like the main music that much, although it worked as a reminder that you are on a ghost academy boot camp. :)

The first test was maybe my favorite. The third one seemed to be very hard to beat and I couldn't finish it.

I like the idea of a game where you have minigames with different mechanics and you coded all of those three minigames in such a short amount of time. Nicely done!

All in all a nice little game with three different little games all in together. Kudos!

Orc Death Games by Cynapse 2015-08-24T04:33:00

Nice little game you made here!

I really the responsiveness of the controls and the simple setting. Kudos!

You need a Hug by TiByte 2015-08-24T11:36:00

Yeah! I found love on the Easy and the normal mode. The hard mode was indeed hard. :)

Nice and simple little game.

Dungeons and Heroes by thx4nothing 2015-08-24T01:30:00

I like anything that potentially has a lots of stats and nethack type fighting. In this entry there was a serious effort put into making a solid foundation for a nethack type game.

Sure there was some information lacking like eat with F key to restore health and I think I didn't buy some stuff soon enough since I got whacked in the second screen with a full health bar.

I think there's a foundation here to build on a nice roguelike.

Oranges In Love With My Fly by ViliX64 2015-08-24T03:51:00

Nice grey feel to these graphics.

I didn't quite get why I was throwing little orange and banana men in three different lanes, but it was still fun, so who cares! :)

Nice little game!

Monstering Monsters by NickMakesGames 2015-08-24T03:43:00

The minimalistic graphics are a nice touch.

I still don't quite understand what it is that the player is doing in the game. Why does "upsetqw" count as a word? Shouldn't be like real known words?

Anyways that thing aside it was an enjoyable little game!

Echo, by Robert 2015-08-25T13:48:00

I really liked the game mechanic. You basically did Dark Echo in a matter of days.

Really nice accomplishment!

True Monster by kles4enko 2015-08-25T17:46:00

I laughed my eyes out at the premise. Really funny. Hopefully it was meant to be funny.

I really couldn't get much better than 22 kills on my four tries. Maybe I'm just bad at games. :)

I liked the overall feel of the game. The moving could've been a little more smoother maybe.

All in all a nice and funny entry to the ludum dare.

Dr. Cutie & Mr. Monster by oostap 2015-08-25T13:57:00

It seems like a nice game. No one was around to play it with me, though... so I didn't submit a score.

Witchhunt by Filecreation 2015-08-24T12:55:00

The concept itself sounds very intriguing! Kudos for coming up with something so original!

I do have to wonder though how would you do the judgement part if there's only two players and not a "judge" player involved?

But as a concept very exciting!

Bashy Bashy by pokeplun 2015-08-24T03:01:00

Well it is Bashy Bashy, indeed. :)

I liked the psychedelicism of it all and the fact that the player grows with each "level". Too bad the levels end at the 20/20. I would've liked to see more of those insane enemies, which could do some damage btw. Now you are just hammering away.

Kudos on your entry!

Camp Starvation by Double Zero One Zero 2015-08-26T17:44:00

Very original entry.

I liked the concept very much. I wish there would be even more ways to influence the other members of the camp.

Sound is top notch and the mood is great!

Nice entry!

Misunderstood by catchthefloaty 2015-08-24T02:53:00

As someone already said the fact that you are a monster who doesn't realize he is a monster is a thought provoking thing.

Maybe a bit too short on the gameplay side, but other than tha good job!

Orbit by roban101 2015-08-24T11:06:00

I really liked the way you made the player monster twist as they turn. Also nicely done coding the AI on some of the enemies.

I would've really liked some sound in there. Also some of the hit boxes are maybe too big, like with the blowfish-type enemy.

Very nice game you did in such a short time! Nice!

Kaiju A-Go-Go by GeeItSomeLaldy 2015-08-24T10:54:00

Very nice! I got smoked by the boss enemy. :)

Mayne it would've been nice to have some kind of crouch or something to avoid missiles flying at head level. That or a little bit more speed.

All in all a fun little game!

Goon Trip by DarkCart 2015-08-24T12:04:00

Well... I don't know what to say. It was a trip alright. :)

Maybe try to add some more functionality to it later, even if you ran out of time in this compo. Also as others pointed out, you should try to look into that lag there.

But it was nice to wonder what this game is all about for a while! :)

Hungry Monster Attacks by garvon 2015-08-25T12:35:00

Nice little mechanic in you game!

I liked it. Also the sfx were funny!

KRAGZHOR by UrbanHelsing 2015-08-25T20:19:00

Nice little game. I liked the fact that you could thrash the buildings and throw people into them. Also the footprints were a nice touch!

Nice entry you have here!

A Monster's House by Slandercakes 2015-08-24T01:48:00

The minimalistic music was spot on.

Though as for the gameplay I didn't quite "get" what I did wrong as my first playthrough when I got shafted.

I put on some blood and ghosts and even half way laying them down I realized that you have to put them on inner walls to affect the children 2 timees. No luck still. :/

The fun factor isn't so much here as I'm personally kind of over tower defence games, but I think other people could enjoy this with some modifications and progression in the game.

Still loving that sine tune in the main menu! :)

Village Terrorizer by Flygamer101 2015-08-24T03:25:00

Nice little game with some simple actions to kill some tribesmen off of your way.

I loved the contrast of the jovial music in contrast with the blood spilling from the peasants.

Nice little game!

It's just imagination by fragileannihilator 2015-08-25T20:33:00

Neat concept. I couldn't get the boy to be scared enough but I think that's just because I suck at games.

Nice mood and a nice little game here.

PacGhost by NekuSoul 2015-08-24T13:21:00

That was great! Such a simple idea, but it makes the game very interesting.

Fun game although makes my brain hurt. Nicely done!

Do You Understand ? by qkerguelen 2015-08-24T01:18:00

I love the graphic style.

I hoped there would've been more to the game than those few first screens, but I can understand that there's a time limit.

As someone said there was some overlap in the texts and I think you can get killed by jumping on one of the "enemies" in the last room. I think it's the last one of the three of the first batch of enemies in the last room.

Anyway. Loved the style. Nice Entry!

Project Jumpius by kirilllosev 2015-08-24T12:24:00

The core mechanics are nice.

All in all a nice little game! Kudos!

KidsGrace by Polith Games 2015-08-24T15:32:00

Really nicely done game. I can't really find any aspect of improvement as the game works exactly as it should.

Good job!

Bloodflame by Crypto137 2015-08-24T12:33:00

I really liked this little game. Especially when I remembered to press the TAB key and level up my stats. Got through many waves.

The music very nice. I liked it a lot!

Very nice little game you made here! :)

who' s the monster by IronSquirel 2015-08-24T03:33:00

I don't know if I played this right, I couldn't get the tutorial box to disappear and I guess that prevented me to know what I was supposed to be doing.

Next thing I know I'm dead. :/

So maybe I screwed up somthing but this didn't quite qork for me. :(

Feed the Monster by humanatee_studios 2015-08-25T12:55:00

I loved this, for the most part. Only probelm I had was with the laser beams in the second room. Maybe I'm just bad at games but I couldn't figure out the wait/go factor in that room.

As I said I'm probably bad at games and very impatient. I loved the fact you had an inventory and that you could chech each item out. Also kudos for the gamepad emulation (I don't know if it games standard in gamemaker or not).

All in all a very solid entry! I have to keep my EYE on this one. :P

Monster in a spaceship by cheery 2015-08-25T20:28:00

Interesting concept. I made it to the last level. I like how the people run away from you but not in a pretermined manner.

Nice little game.

The Supper by jrhee 2015-08-25T17:25:00

This was a really top notch entry!

I like the looks and the sound effects. Everything works together!

If I'm being harsh I would've liked to see some more ways to influence the dinner guests, but that's just nitpicking.

All in all a very very nice entry you have here.

Bloodstream by Xentai Inside 2015-08-25T17:34:00

Nicely done with the graphics!

The ragdoll physics were amazing and the whole rage fueled carnage fitted the theme.

There were some problems however with the "bastard counter" not going down" also I don't know if any of my enemies shot at me at all.

Overall a nice entry that was fun for a while.

7 Days A Monster King by JayWoody 2015-08-24T13:13:00

Yeah I know. This was basically my first two days with Unity so I didn't get a chance to learn how to set my camera that way. Hopefully I can fix it soon. Thanks for the feedback!

7 Days A Monster King by JayWoody 2015-08-24T19:05:00

Thanks for the feedback I'll fix it and put up a new version shortly.

7 Days A Monster King by JayWoody 2015-08-25T12:56:00

@VividReality - thanks for the feedback! I'll fix that ASAP!

7 Days A Monster King by JayWoody 2015-08-25T13:42:00

Okay Now everything concerning scoring should be fixed. I left some stupid typos in there and now you can really find out who is the master at being monster king. It's all about reactions now.

7 Days A Monster King by JayWoody 2015-08-25T16:51:00

Thanks Chikoness for your review! The no-changing-day bug should be cleared. I'm sorry for it to happen to you!

Mutant Snakopede by TLansdale 2015-08-24T11:19:00

Very nice! Best game I've played so far. The burrowing mechanic is really cool! Also nice AI on the people.

Very solid game! Nicely done!

Monster Chomper by PokeyOne 2015-08-24T04:03:00

Nice little game. Maybe a bit too simple for my taste, but a nice little game nonetheless.

40 and still a Zombie by kmiitz 2015-08-25T12:41:00

I liked the aesthetics very much! Also the music was top notch! And I like point 'n click games so this was a very nice surprise for me.

There was some times when I didn't quite know what to do next.

I like it overall but a bit more guidance to where go fishing next would've been nice.

All in all a nice entry! Kudos!

Witch Treat by DeepBlueJeer 2015-08-25T17:40:00

Really nice graphics, but the gameplay needs some polishing.

The fact that you made two playable characters with some cutscene graphics is really impressive, not to mention adding a boss enemy.

Nicely done!

The Hosts by Warxen 2015-08-25T12:26:00

This was cool! After I worked out the mechanics I was really into it. The guards move way too fast in my opinion but maybe I'm just bad at games. :)

Very nice entry!

Greetings, Human by boardtobits 2015-08-24T02:00:00

I really liked the minimalistic touch mixed with the grandiose setting of it all.

The game taught itself pretty quickly so that's a very good sign.

I couldn't quite get how I'm suppose to tell male from female but I guess that was the whole point to introduce some uncertainty?

I would've liked some more difficulty in the later rounds and not keep it the same the whole game through.

All in all a very nice bite size game. Kudos!

Delicious Ships! by BaseCase 2015-08-25T12:31:00

Solid game but the mechanic or 'the reason behind the mechanic' could use some fine tuning.

REally liked the music and the overall feel. The puzzles were also nice after you got use to the mechanic.

Nice!

Collateral by mklee 2015-08-24T02:41:00

I liked this very much.

Simple, yet effective and executed with grace!

Very nice work sir!

The Cauldron of Humanity by Lashiz121 2015-08-24T10:47:00

Nice game! I liked the fact that the points carry on to later levels.

Some info about what every spell and minion does would've been nice but I got the hang of it pretty quickly.

With some polish this could be an addicting little game. Nicely done!

LD44 — Your life is currency

My Life is Not Currency by rjhelms 2019-05-17T20:24:02Z

Very nice little game where everything works as it should. Gameplay was really good, tight and predictable. Nicely done AI for the enemies. Graphics and audio work and give that 80's DOS feeling a bit. A solid job and a very nice effort in the compo time frame!

Daybreak Inn by Joror 2019-05-18T12:36:49Z

Very nice take on the theme. The overall concept of the game is very cool and finely executed. There is some story elements that makes the experience much more rewarding. I really liked the art style, it suited the game so well and it was consistent throughout. The audio is very good and lends itself to the relaxed atmosphere of an inn and parties coming from and going to adventures.

I think for me the game was a bit on the easy side, since I passed it without going much into detail about the characters and how what group would be better suited to what quest, or did I just get lucky? I managed to pay the Lich and got the ending.

There is a very cool idea here which could grow into a decent indie game someday. Awesome job!

Seize the Clay by SecondDimension 2019-05-18T17:32:54Z

Wow! This was definitely something different! The concept overall was such a nice change of pace from all the other games that it's definitely a plus. I made three sculptures and started to really get in to the groove on the last one, but I didn't seem to get to place the third one on a pedestal. Or maybe I missed something?

The art style was top notch and the background music suited very well and lent itself to the atmosphere. I think adding some more sound effects on what was going on would have made the audio even better.

I really liked the whole process of making a sculpture and the game was a really refreshing entry to the jam. I could see this being a succesful indie game after some polish and gameplay additions! Very nicely done from all of you!

STR!PES by Geckoo1337 2019-05-18T17:11:39Z

Very cool little game in the same vain as Hexagon.

The technical aspect of it was spot on. Music worked great and graphics were well suited for a game like this. It was pretty fun for the short while it lasted. In the compo version the difficulty spiked pretty hard on the 180 turns but the post-compo version was much more gentle in that regard. So improvements were definitely there.

I have to commend you on making a score board for your game. It always makes the game that much interesting when you can compete with others.

Overall a very solid entry to the jam! Nice work!

Blood Money by Imphenzia 2019-05-17T21:10:38Z

A very solid little game with very catchy 8 bit tunes. I liked the simplicity of it and the mayhem that ensues when you just let it rip after gathering some power ups. Maybe the gameplay could have changed a bit in the later rounds, but that's just nitpicking. Solid effort!

A Life's Work by glimaleite 2019-05-18T14:02:25Z

The art style is superb! Also the concept of this game incorporating mini-games as a way to tell a bigger story is very clever. I liked it very much. I wish there would've been more time spent with some of the mini-games but I get that even this was a huge achievement in the time frame you had. It was simple yet effective.

Overall a very very beautiful little game you made here!

Legend Of the Red Demon by Jimbly 2019-05-17T20:50:14Z

I really liked the ASCII style with the monitor-look. Audio wasn't there so I can't comment on that. The actual gameplay consisted of going through tiers of enemies by beating the previous enemy x times and then upgrading weapons to the next level. I would've liked to see some variation to that. Although I took my time to clear the whole game so it definitely had some hooks in! Good job on the game and especially in the compo time frame.

An I by Drury 2019-05-18T11:39:09Z

I really liked this. I thought the graphics and the audio was top notch also the way it controls is very good, although I had some problems controlling the speed while in mid-air, but that was probably just me. I liked how the bumping to other people was done and the choice between levels how to spend your life was great. Who knew playing 23.5 years in a row wouldn't get you any new skills? :D

A fun little game you made so kudos to you!

BLOOD FIGHTERS by Lucien Catonnet 2019-05-17T18:32:57Z

I really liked the graphics style and the minimalist audio suited well with the graphics to make an ambience. In the actual gameplay I don't know if I understood how to play correctly. I used only "v" key to kick and I seemed to get through the levels with that. There was another key that seemed to do a headbutt kinda thing, but I didn't find a use for it. Very nice game in such a short time and the gameplay felt fun even if I wasn't smart enough to trigger the power-ups. Very nice!

The Ultimate Frontier by multiplexor 2019-05-18T13:10:21Z

I really loved the intro sequence with the successful landing. :D It always helps to build the game up when there are some story mechanics involved. The actual game was very well done and worked as it should. I loved the change of scenery from the desert to the jungle and was excited to see more levels and more enemies come into play but I get that you can't do everything in 48 hours. Gameplay works well, graphics were well suited for this type of game and audio was quite good.

Overall I liked it very much and was impressed how much you were able to do in 48 hours! Very nice!

Value of Life by pokepetter 2019-05-17T21:24:58Z

That was a beautiful thing you created in 48 hours. I really like the music and how it works with the art you have made. The gameplay is pretty simple but you can see the seed of a game here, since it kind of grabs you with it's atmosphere. I'm very impressed, nice job!

Somnambulist by LancesCaterpie 2019-05-18T11:59:13Z

Very very good game. The art style and the game mechanics were top notch. The levels were nicely crafted to highlight how to use the skills and the added story when introducing the skills was a nice addition. There was also some pretty nifty things there like the slowing of time while traversing in the air and choosing where to place the three-piece floor.

I'm very impressed. Nicely done and for the compo no less. Hats off to you!

Jailocorp by jaywoody 2019-05-18T09:04:17Z

Good comments from everyone, totally agree with you edshotmachine that a lot could be improved in the compo version and even in the post-compo version still. Thank you for trying out the game. I play tested the compo version with my buddies and it's definitely too hard. I tried to make it more simple in the post compo version and hopefully that would be something that most of the players can get through. We'll see.

I'll seriously have to think about adding the hints if it's clear that the post compo is still too hard.

Jailocorp by jaywoody 2019-05-18T10:48:33Z

I hear you @pl4typus. It's a difficult balance to be sure and one that isn't easily done in a 48 hour timeline. At least by me. I had to start from pretty basic stuff to make sure I could finish the game with my limited knowledge. Of course I would do totally different puzzles now since the colored buttons is unexciting as are the levers. The chess pieces serve well as a puzzle mechanic but the way the puzzle is ultimately designed leaves a lot to hope for as well. So I'm not oblivious to these facts. I really just ran out of time in the compo version and then just tried to see how that crude seed would work if polish was added. Mainly as a test to myself how far can I take that. I think it's a smoother experience and it could still be a lot better with some things added.

Thank you for the comments. I appreciate it very much!

Jailocorp by jaywoody 2019-05-18T11:25:23Z

Thanks @goog for the comments, I appreciate it. You are definitely not a dumbo as you can see from the other comments. :)

Have a great saturday!

Jailocorp by jaywoody 2019-05-18T12:05:38Z

Thanks for the comment @joror! You got through! Congratulations! :)

Yeah it's a bit too difficult, at least the compo-version is. It would've been cool if I could've made a longer game where the difficulty ramps up, but I knew I wouldn't have time for that. I got through this one barely in the 48 hours. Maybe I'll expand this or make a totally new one with more solid puzzle designs, who knows.

Thanks for the feedback!

Jailocorp by jaywoody 2019-05-18T12:08:14Z

Thanks you for the comments @multiplexor! I'm really sorry I made it so hard. :( Hope you still had a good time with it! Thank you for the kind words and have a great weekend!

Jailocorp by jaywoody 2019-05-18T12:50:29Z

Thank you for the comments @joshyoshkenoshi! The puzzle design was too hard and vague definitely in the compo version and I think it's still far from optimal in the post-compo version.

And thank you for the kind words on the post-compo visuals. It means a lot. I have thought about using UE4 and I'm somewhat familiar with it. I've mainly stuck to Unity because of the C# language. Maybe I'll try my hand in UE4 some day.

These are great lessons for future reference. So thank you very much for the feedback!

Jailocorp by jaywoody 2019-05-18T13:28:19Z

Nice going @big-cow! It's great that you were able to work things out in the post-compo version. Thank you for the feedback!

Jailocorp by jaywoody 2019-05-18T14:25:53Z

Wow @joshyoshkenoshi! That takes some dedication. Thank you very much for trying it again and kudos for getting through it! I guess not many have done it based on the comments. :)

The chess puzzle's integral piece that connect the words on the walls with the actual pieces is the table compass which unfortunately isn't as high fidelity and as prominently displayed in the post-compo version as it should. I would fix it in a jiffy to be more intuitive if Unity wouldn't have made it very difficult for me. I see what I can do to that in the near future. Thanks for the feedback on that.

I have heard that the C++ route is the best route in the end. For some reason I haven't felt that as intuitive as Java or C#. Maybe I will try again and take a look at it.

Thanks so much for the feedback and trying my game again!

Jailocorp by jaywoody 2019-05-18T14:31:41Z

Very nice to hear @siimer! It's incredibly cool that you got a worthwhile experience out of it. You really made my day!

Thanks so much for playing my game, the comment and making me happy!

Jailocorp by jaywoody 2019-05-18T17:15:43Z

Thanks for the feedback @adamd. I completely agree with you. I thought about adding some subtle hints to the cinematics in the intro and after completing a puzzle thus nudging towards the next solution, but I just ran out of time with that one.

Thank you for kind comments!

Jailocorp by jaywoody 2019-05-18T18:52:26Z

Thank you for the comment @jakeuro! It's good that you feel that way since after the first 10 hours of the compo I had a Unity scene with a capsule moving in 4 different directions and not much else. It's amazing what you can do in a short amount of time if you don't care about your well-being. :)

Jailocorp by jaywoody 2019-05-18T19:00:27Z

Thank you for the comment @acearcher! The lever puzzle was definitely way too hard on the compo version just like you said and I dialed the difficulty on that way down for the post-compo version. I'm impressed you got through all of the other ones as those have been tricky to others as well. Kudos on that!

There is a left shift for run but I for some reason left it out of the instructions.

Can I ask you what do you mean when you say you would have liked the music to loop better? The main game music should go to silence and after some 10 - 15 seconds loop again from the start. Maybe I left a mistake somewhere.

Thank you so much for the feedback!

Jailocorp by jaywoody 2019-05-18T19:07:35Z

Thank you for your comment @geckoo1337! As you can see from the comments, you are not alone thinking it's too hard. I really like making music and so I think that is something I dedicate too much of my time when making games to jams. Thankfully you and others appreciate that aspect. I'm glad you got two puzzles out of the four solved, that's pretty good and shows tenacity! I really appreciate you taking your time to test the updated version.

Thank you for the feedback!

Jailocorp by jaywoody 2019-05-18T19:25:47Z

Thanks for clearing that out @acearcher! Yeah now that I think about it, the silence might be too long between the loops. Thanks for the feedback!

Thank you all very much for the feedback and trying the game! I appreciate it!

Remember by JoshyOshKenoshi 2019-05-18T15:18:48Z

Wow! This was a very nice text based game and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I'm not good at picking up books and plowing through them, so playing this game was initially somewhat daunting to me. After I got over the slow pace and got into the groove I found myself really enjoying figuring out what memory would give the right experience to what character. The text and the verbiage seemed very professional but at the same time was easy to digest even for a non-native speaker like me. Only very minor gripe I have was the same that someone already pointed out here, that you had to scroll up for the start of the response in some cases. Other than that I think it was a good execution technically.

Also very nice job incorporating the theme in a very clever way! After a playthrough I got 600/700 points in the end.

I have a hard time finding any faults in this, other than now I'm itching to play or read what happens after the end, so you got me hooked! Let me know if you write what happens next. :)

Very nice work! I never knew I like text-based games this much!

Protector by Vodzik 2019-05-18T19:39:17Z

Very nice bullet hell type of a game you made here. I tried a couple of times and at the last try I was going through the level again after again like no tomorrow with some power-ups under my belt.

Hmm.. Now that I'm looking at the screenshots, maybe there were other levels but somehow for me it just looped the first level?

I liked the saturated and glowy look. Maybe the audio side could've been more impactful with some more work but all-in-all it was a good time playing your game!

Nicely done!

Monolith by jsec 2019-05-17T20:11:07Z

This made me think of the old Wings DOS game, which is a good thing. I thoroughly enjoyed blasting those little red buggers with my ship. It would've been a great addition to try out changing the rotation of the ship with a mouse. I don't think there was any audio here which would up the value some if added. I liked the idea of rooms that you implemented and kept track of how many enemies were alive and so on. Nice little game you made in such a short time. Good job!

Hell's reefs by Amour Du Pain 2019-05-17T21:51:43Z

The music is very nice and the theme for the game also works here. The mechanic of not being seen but using more of the life that is left is a good one. I had some trouble orienting the map at first but got it after a while.

Very nice job for the compo time frame!

Death. Mame. Gun. Kill. by edshotmachine 2019-05-18T13:44:15Z

Great concept! I thought the slo-mo and dash skills were a great addition to the game. The AI on the enemies were surprisingly good and made it more fun. Sound design was pretty minimalistic. I would've liked to hear a background music and some more sfx when the enemies die etc.

Good job on this one!

Battery Life by Attala 2019-05-17T22:14:32Z

Very nicely done puzzle game. The gameplay after the first steps was simple to grasp but gave the player the freedom to do stupid things with that freedom. Theme was tightly incorporated to the gameplay and audio complemented the gameplay. There was a uniqueness to this. Very well done!

Choice Master by big-cow 2019-05-18T18:34:33Z

Nice little game you got here! Love the art style and the choices really resemble some of the core aspects of someone's life and attitude towards it. I got to the end happy and broke. Hopefully some day I go the same way.

Nice idea and a cool execution!

bETween us by Zariel 2019-05-17T19:34:06Z

There are some strong points to this game like the mood and the sound design but the gameplay overall could've been a bit better, I think. I thought it was cool that you made the shed and the corn field which were neat to explore before I went inside the house, but I would've liked something more to happen than an instant game over. Still kudos on what you were able to accomplish in that limited time! Good job!

Blood Money by SuperGamersGames 2019-05-17T22:39:48Z

I really liked this one. You had incorporated the difficult theme, fun mechanic and a dark twist. The gameplay felt pretty good all around although the hit box was kind of a question mark at first, still didn't reap any normies. A solid entry to the compo. Nice job!

The Sanguine Fight by Sodaro 2019-05-17T19:17:51Z

I really enjoyed playing this for some reason. There is a fun little game here and I could see this transforming into a fun smash-em-up with some TLC. Art style is minimalist but consistent and serves the job. I don't know why but the ending just made my day. :D

LIFE Corp by pl4typus 2019-05-18T11:06:16Z

Nice concept for a game. I really liked the low poly visuals as well as the posters in the middle describing the enemy. The music was great and sound effects worked like they should. I had minor problems with camera clipping through walls and the floor and the way the robot faces you even though you are on top of it makes some funny moments. The jam version had a bit of a floaty feel to the movement where as the post jam version had a more of a constrained and tighter movement to it.

All-in-all very neat concept with pretty good execution.

Perfect Date by limbo 2019-05-17T19:53:03Z

Okay I was pretty confused about the menus at first. Then I finally got to the game itself and the art was pretty nice. I really liked the Death-drawing so thumbs up there. Overall a pretty short experience although with some replayability and humor mixed in there. So a good job in this limited time!

Passold by Cyrolis 2019-05-17T21:34:20Z

Nice little game. Consistent art style, which is always good. I also liked the mechanic of trying to get to the finish line before a set time since it made the levels more interesting. Gameplay felt good and I would've liked to see more levels to hone my skills on. Overall a pretty nice experience.

Piggy Bank's Adventure by Comet From Outer Space 2019-05-17T21:59:27Z

That was great! I really loved the art style and the story! There was no hiccups on the gameplay side. It was a bit short but none the less sweeeeet experience! :)

Nice job!

Face to Death by pequenodev 2019-05-17T18:45:15Z

I liked the overall feel this game had. It was very uniform and conveyed the intentioned humorous message. The gameplay was very well done for this type of game and the randomization was something I can raise my hat off to. Very nice!

Babfomet by Sebastian Krepela 2019-05-18T22:21:38Z

Okay so I think I played through everything there was, which was the first level up to the "upgrade post". Tell me if there was more.

I thought the cutscene art was pretty amazing and I would've liked to see a full game where that art style was utilized. I didn't understand the story because it was in a slavic (?) language I didn't comprehend, but the art was so good I didn't really care.

The actual game was pretty good and the idea of changing the size of the player dependent on how many kids she ate or grabbed was neat.

There's a lot good things to say and a few things to improve upon, but overall you made some very nice art and a good prototype of a game in 72 hours!

LD46 — Keep it alive

The King's Efforts by cirno 2020-04-30T12:06:22Z

Cool game! Reminds me of some of the text quests from space rangers 2. I got into a good groove, but on the riddles I was stumped on the 3rd or 4th one. Would've liked to go all the way. Good entry and pretty cool to see a text game!

Cytokine Storm by Gurbx 2020-04-30T13:34:23Z

That was great! The animations and particle effects were on point! Music created a tense atmosphere and sound effects worked great. I think with some little balancing on the actions and how you could maybe change or save some of them this could be even better. Good job!

What An Alien Addiction! by jaywoody 2020-04-21T12:36:31Z

Yeah the balancing can get a bit hard at times! Thanks for the comments bulle!

Thanks so much Endurion for the kind comments!

What An Alien Addiction! by jaywoody 2020-04-27T11:57:31Z

@douwe-ravers very good point! I've been meaning to get around to implement that but I've been super busy and haven't gotten around to it. I'll try to add that, though somewhere in the future. Thanks for the comment!

@marcusnystrand yeah I think you might be right. I kept it on the easier side to not be frustrating. Thanks for the comment!

What An Alien Addiction! by jaywoody 2020-04-29T15:35:28Z

@flying-dog-fish Thanks a lot! I'm glad you liked it.

@valhalla Very cool that you enjoyed it! I tried to make it varied enough between the levels so I really appreciate your comment. It took me a while to do that quantum food, but I guess it paid off. :)

@notan-lemon Thank you very much! I thought about the trash can and whether it should just make food disappear, but I think I like it this way more. It adds a bit of tension. I'm glad you liked it, too!

What An Alien Addiction! by jaywoody 2020-04-30T11:13:39Z

@meelo Yeah it would've been cool if I would have had the time to do a few more levels in there and maybe throw some added functionality to make it more intense. Maybe in a post-jam version, who knows? :) I really tried to do a polished version this time for LD, so it's great to hear that it makes a difference. Thank you very much for the comments and playing my game!

What An Alien Addiction! by jaywoody 2020-05-02T07:25:25Z

@cirno Thanks for the kind comments!

@ic-rainbow Hey, that's a fun idea! It could be quite nice actually in VR with 3d-objects.

@blobo Nicely done! Thanks for the comment and playing my game!

@fengol Yeah I should've implemented a wait for user input on those intro screens and made them bigger. Time just ran out. Thanks for the feedback and cool that you liked it!

What An Alien Addiction! by jaywoody 2020-05-06T14:33:57Z

@lmb Thank you so much!

@pierallard Oh man. It's still doing that? Thanks for letting me know! I'll see if I can fix it.

Flock for Feast by Antti Haavikko 2020-04-30T19:22:36Z

What an amazing game that you've done in 48 hours! That's no small feat. Everything is spot on and polished to the highest degree. The gameplay is fast, engaging and addictive because of course you want to beat the high scores. I really didn't find anything to improve on except maybe when a lot of your birds get wiped out at the same time sometimes it kind of clips the sound, I think. But that's such a minor thing. Best I've played so far! Good job! Go Finland! :)

Boundary by William Derksen 2020-04-27T15:02:50Z

Pretty cool idea executed very well! This could have potential for an actual game if expanded upon. The graphics suited this type of game very well and you had some cool particle effects in there as well. I really liked the audio and how the music ramps up when going through the levels.

Very good entry! Kudos!

9Lives by Tec 2020-04-29T16:05:48Z

Cool mechanics and a cute cat! I was kinda lousy at playing it, though. I got through the 3 level, but had difficulties on the 4th. I liked the atmosphere and the story you had there. The movement and the abilities worked nicely. Solid entry! Good job!

Keep 'it' Alive by Jare 2020-04-27T17:21:05Z

Surprisingly fun game for something you made in just 6 hours! I got to 191 points on my third try. Really solid gameplay. Nice job!

Conway's Garden of Life by davidsheadgames 2020-04-27T17:04:04Z

Cool toy to experiment with and a nice twist on the original version! A very nice entry even if you said it was made in a rush.

Be Cool or Die by Asier 2020-04-27T16:44:30Z

You actually used your own engine! That's pretty impressive! The graphics were pretty cool. It was fun scaring a whole bunch of them animals away before getting mauled by a bear. :) Very good job on your first Ludum Dare!

Buzz the Fly Gardener by Flying Dog Fish 2020-04-29T15:48:47Z

This was a very cool game. I got to the second stage on my second try. I messed up the second stage myself since I had already pushed all the other flies to the top of the screen. It was very fun to play. The audio was top notch!

Nice job!

Bloody Fantastic by mikejzx 2020-04-30T13:07:37Z

Pretty cool idea for a game! I really liked the mechanic you've built. With some fine tuning it could be really awesome. You had some power-up mechanics there as well to keep it interesting. I wasn't the best of players since I only got to 67points, but I had fun playing it! Good job!

Windy The Indie by Douwe_Ravers 2020-04-27T14:26:30Z

This is pretty cool game! I like how you have this big area to cover and you just can't do it and you have to think of strategies to minimize the destruction to your forest. Pretty spot on when it comes to the theme.

The music was a perfect fit to create atmosphere and it's very addicting to upgrade stuff.

Nice work!

Keeper of the Flame by Elbapotsnugg 2020-04-27T16:34:13Z

Nice entry! The concept was cool and executed pretty nicely. I would've liked to see the health of the flame as a bar or something but of course this way you are always guessing. I really really liked the music you did for this. Sometimes when hitting an enemy the sfx didn't play, but that's minor thing.

I had fun playing it and got the end! Nice job!

Goat Rider by Notan Lemon 2020-04-29T20:15:06Z

Pretty inventive mechanic and nicely thought out levels! Good puzzles are hard to make in just a few days with all the other elements and coding, so nicely done. The graphics were very pleasant and suited this type of game. Well done!

Unnamed Balloon Game: Video Game Edition by 1PunnyGuy44 2020-04-27T16:15:18Z

Easy and fairly small concept, but executed very well. So well that I kept playing for a high score multiple times. Audio worked quite nicely and those ending dialogues were a definite highlight for me! :)

Fun game!

Bob The Bog Roll Defender by Ch4oticAU 2020-04-30T13:51:37Z

That was a very cool and fun game! The music and sfx were very good and graphics were nice pixel art style and the dying animations were done with care. Very solid entry to the compo and good job on doing all that in 48 hours!

Square Loves Circle! by meelo 2020-04-30T11:07:26Z

Very cool game! Nicely designed puzzles! Some of the levels require a bit more precision control than others. Gotta love the expression on the circle. :) The music really lends to the romantic atmosphere along with the narrative. I liked it a lot!

Spiders and Sports and Plane Crashes by Seothen 2020-04-30T12:42:35Z

Cool game! Best "soccer player avoiding spiders in their underwear after a plane crash simulator" I have seen. :) Intro was a nice touch, audio worked nicely and I liked the "snap" sound when I got eaten. Like others said maybe the hitboxes could have been adjusted a bit, but you got used to them. Very nice entry for your first Ludum Dare! Good job!

Social Distancing For LadyBugs by mehrdadsh 2020-04-27T10:34:04Z

Very cool game. I really liked how smooth it plays and how it makes you want to break your high score over and over again. Music works really well with the game and as others have pointed out, the flocking behavior is pretty cool to look at here.

Overall pretty fun little game! Kudos!

Stay Frausty by GameDoodles 2020-04-30T18:36:38Z

Nice game! The concept is a very good and the execution was great. Maybe there could've been even more progression at the end since I could basically go on forever just hanging at the very top portion of the screen, but that's a minor thing. I really liked this! Nicely done in 48 hours!

Space Maze by nodice 2020-04-27T14:51:07Z

I really liked the art style and the audio had some 8-bit vibes in there. I was a bit confused at first of the mechanics, but got the hang of it after a while. More levels and maybe an info box at the start of all of the items you can encounter would be nice.

Nicely done!

BUBBLE BOY by NEKORUMA 2020-04-27T10:46:47Z

You hit the nail on the head in the theme department! Very cool retro "Game & Watch" -type graphics. Audio complements nicely the graphic design. Gameplay is quite simple but charming.

I really liked what you did here!

SAVE THE DINOS! by marcusnystrand 2020-04-27T14:37:50Z

Cool game! You have to really be on point with your mouse skills in this one. :) I like the pixelated look of it and the audio works well. I had fun trying to keep them dinos alive!

Henry and Alan by TheDoctorOfTime 2020-04-27T11:20:03Z

That's some nice platforming! The design of the level is pretty cool and the different speeds makes for some hard jumps. I found myself missing a platform on many occasion and blamed my skills rather than the game for the miss. I kinda like that there's not that much pressure on the time side, but on the other hand some people could like that added incentive to go faster.

Nice little game you made here!

LD52 — Harvest

Harvester by Sublustris 2023-01-11T23:08:19Z

What a cool idea for a game! The mechanic and power-ups work great together, although when you get a few too many speed buffs, it becomes quite hectic. I did manage to get to 111 points. :)

I really like the core concept and game overall! Kudos for the nice entry!

Anguis by LeviDSmith 2023-01-13T12:40:05Z

A good old snake game! Nice! I see you have been participating in every Ludum Dare from the 26th one onwards. That's quite a feat. Congratulations! It's great that you didn't break the streak. Here's for many more Ludum Dares to come!

Our Hill of Stars by limered 2023-01-11T22:28:49Z

Great puzzle game! Had a blast going through the levels. In some of the later levels the amount of arrow turning starts to feel a bit tedious, but I guess it can't be avoided. Maybe earlier comments about the rotate speed could help alleviate it somewhat, but it's a minor thing, so it didn't bother me that much. The addition of the star system was great so the player knows how they did.

Very cool little puzzle game!

Vegetableau by bentglasstube 2023-01-11T20:32:27Z

What a cool game! I really like puzzles so this had me hooked. Simple mechanics of a sliding puzzle repurposed to serve as a mechanic of this grouping puzzle. The rising difficulty curve makes sure it doesn't become boring.

I guess I don't have anything negative to say about it. Very nice game!

Flower Farmer by demogorgon 2023-01-11T14:47:47Z

This is a very addictive little game. I'm always a sucker for "numbers go up" type of game and there's many cool additional things here like the cross pollination thing which develops a new type of flower depending on the two flowers that are combined.

The one minor nitpick that I had has already been said: "sell all" -button so that you don't have to click a thousand times when playing. :) But anyways that's a minor thing. Very cool and addictive game!

Body Harvesters by Justin_C 2023-01-10T10:32:43Z

I really liked the core concept and execution. Even though there was no sound I really enjoyed playing all the way through over a thousand "threat" points. It got quite crazy with the amount of UFO's at that point. :D

If you added some additional mechanics this could turn out to be quite an addictive little game.

Very fun and enjoyable experience!

Veggie Tamer by clyde 2023-01-10T12:43:53Z

Great game! This game gives some nostalgic vibes. There's a definite Pokemon feel to it. The battle music kind of reminded me of Tim Follin's Ghost and Goblin's intro. A lot of good things here. I tried to advance as far as I could but I guess the last road up just goes on forever?

Nice job with this game!

Defend The Apple Harvest by jaywoody 2023-01-10T10:38:59Z

@pushmepullyu The Thieferinos were the best part for me, too. :) Thanks for playing!

@justin-c Thank you so much! And I totally understand your feedback, although if I would've let the player move the boxes freely the game could've been too easy to beat. There probably should be some additional mechanic to make it more interesting, but as always in these compos I just ran out of time. Thank you for the feedback and trying the game!

Defend The Apple Harvest by jaywoody 2023-01-10T13:18:00Z

@nougato Good point. It's true, the player might indeed be a bit too slow. I wanted to add a stamina meter and a more powerful sprint but ran out of time. Maybe I should add a post compo version where this is fixed. Thanks for the feedback and playing the game!

@simsax Valid point as well. The game kind of morphed into what it is now in the middle of development and I had already done the music. Hopefully people still like the composition. Thanks for playing the game!

Defend The Apple Harvest by jaywoody 2023-01-10T15:30:43Z

@ysendrin Thanks for the feedback and playing the game! There's a lot room for improvement in the compo version for sure.

@durkagames Wow! Well that is superfast. Don't know how you pulled that off! Kudos for the world record and thanks for playing the game!

Defend The Apple Harvest by jaywoody 2023-01-12T11:25:00Z

@hmrpf Thank you very much! I noticed the inverted controls happening on couple of occasions in my testing and I tried to pin it down but ultimately couldn't pinpoint what exactly is causing it and why. It seemed to happen at random for me. Thankfully your second try worked out. Thanks for the playing the game!

@stephen321 Thanks for playing the game!

@jk5000 Thanks for the feedback and playing the game! There definitely some room for improvement.

Defend The Apple Harvest by jaywoody 2023-01-13T09:50:56Z

@bezbiletnym Thank you! It indeed feels good to nail one from a far. Thanks for playing!

@evil23 There's apparently a bug in the game such as you mentioned. I'm probably going to leave it in for now so if the game feels too hard people can exploit that. Thanks for playing!

@bentglasstube Thank you so much! There probably should be some kind of fly-through the map before starting or a mini-map or a radar to show the location of the boxes. I'll address that in a post compo version, if I have the time to make one. Thank for the feedback and playing the game!

@googlypoo Thank you very much! Yeah I guess I should be more clear about the way apples are gathered. Maybe have the "guide text" show up in a more central area or something. Thank you for playing the game!

Life in Libya by mmKALLL 2023-01-10T14:10:49Z

A great but a tough game. I tried couple of times and couldn't make it more than 32 days. I guess I tried to upgrade too fast the water and food to +2 production and didn't have enough money to scrape by to make it into the next month properly.

Kudos making the whole economic system and varied options available for the player. I think it's an intriguing game. Nice work!

Whap Harvest by pushmepullyu 2023-01-10T12:08:22Z

Fun little game! The fishing mechanic is quite unique. It takes a while to get in to the groove but after that I was able to beat the game.

Nice work on this compo game!

Bumper Harvest by tayl1r 2023-01-11T22:56:22Z

Very cool game! Level design was great, although I did have the most trouble in the second level. I really liked the dynamic feel of it. Had a blast playing through all the levels and would've even played some more. :)

Nicely developed entry to the compo!

Info harvest by island-jam-2-group-3 2023-01-13T12:29:53Z

Very cool take on a tower defense game. I managed to get to 2:16 until I couldn't keep up with the flow of information. It was nice that I could place the "towers" anywhere I liked and have some upgrades for them as well. Also the tutorial was very nicely done. There could've been maybe some music to add to the atmosphere, but I know how it is with the compo and it's 48 hours.

Very nice entry for the compo!

Harvey's Tiring Job by Maka 2023-01-11T14:15:59Z

Cool game! Music was great, especially the "going to sleep and waiting for the crops" bit that had some nostalgic vibes. It was quite difficult to get 100% in the later levels for sure, but I guess that makes for some replay value. Dynamic camera to show all the flying seeds and harvest so that they are not off camera and maybe some info on the type and amount of fields would be great additions, but even as is this is a great jam entry!

Herfst by SludgeKey 2023-01-11T13:55:15Z

Very cool game with a great art style! I'm kind of bummed I couldn't get more than 10/12 of the items, but it was really fun to try to find all of them. I like point n click games so this was a great experience for me. Some music and sound effects could've added to the atmosphere and sometimes it was a bit unclear if an item would be picked up or not. But that's a minor nitpick.

very cool jam game!

Mutant Harvest by Lenan 2023-01-13T13:34:58Z

Nice game! It's a good attempt at a boss battle. The margin of error is quite narrow, though. I managed to win the boss a couple of times in one go. I chose the damage upgrade and it helped a bit on the next round. The upgrade made the bullets invisible for some reason. 48 hours is a short time to make this type of game in, so I can appreciate you got this far with it. Good entry to the compo!

King of the Valley by fnelix 2023-01-10T13:00:38Z

Cool procedural game! Found the hat, the water, the boots and the king cactus! Technically a very solid game and a lot of little things going on like the sign posts. Also a lot of 3d-assets you managed to produce in 48 hours.

Very nice entry to the Compo!

BloodMage by Uraffululz 2023-01-10T10:54:25Z

Fun little game! I really liked the feeling of growing your army and being able to ultimately not even fight the enemy because your minions handled them.

Nice work!

Green King of Vegetables by MelekTaus 2023-01-11T23:24:08Z

This was a great game! Really liked the overall feel, the upgrades, the animations and the graphics. Would've played for longer if there would've been more content! I don't have much to gripe about here. Great entry to the Compo!

Disorder by Zykra 2023-01-13T12:52:32Z

A quite original game idea. I liked the mindless fun of the first few levels and it was still quite intriguing after the levels became more puzzle-y. It is quite hard to make the exact move you want without knocking some other pieces as well, but I guess that's the whole point of it. :)

Great entry for the compo!

Very nice game! Loved the pixel art and you had really done a lot of it for this game. The music suited the game nicely. It was a fun to complete the game and there were some great characters like Hans Habanero. Great job!

Fun little game! Getting your enemy's weapon by collecting the husk is a nice idea. The particle effects were nicely done and you clearly used some creativity to make the ship graphics. :D For my taste the music is a bit repetitive and could've benefited from a bit longer sequence. Other than that a nice entry to the compo!

What a cool atmosphere you have in this game! The music is really really good! I very much enjoyed flying all around the planets collecting the lights an enjoying the mood of it all.

Very cool game!

Cool game! It's fun to balance between blood and sanity and also trying to get the score as high as possible. I think I got the second highest score on the list.

Nice work on this entry!

I got myself a score of 217. Cool little game and especially nice if just picked Unity few days ago! Very cool that you could use AI to make the music. I have to check out the site you mentioned.

Nicely done!

Very cool little puzzle game! I liked it all very much. The graphics were cute and cohesive and level design was great with a clear progression in the solutions. Overall a great entry to the compo!

Very cool game! I didn't get a chance to play against anybody, but based on the mechanics the gameplay would be quite hectic and intense. The art style is quite unique and suits the theme. Music is also very good! That sheep, though. :)

Nice entry for the Extra category!

Very nice game! I really liked the basic premise and mechanics. I would've liked to be able to hold mouse button down to shoot. Enemies have nice graphics and a bit of variability like corn stays still and shoots while carrots and tomatoes chase you down. I think the shop didn't charge me for extra hearts if I'm not mistaken and at some point the aim was a bit off during the third day. I don't know exactly what caused it, but it was maybe 5 degrees off from where the mouse was.

So a few minor things, but all in all I really liked the game. I got through the third day and gathered 287 gold to save my grandad's farm. :)
