Fun puzzle game, a little hard to figure out at first but i enjoyed it. i'd recommend having smaller rooms since there isn't much decor.

b3agz 2019-04-29 06:09

Nice graphics, solid audio. I spent a minute clicking things before I realised you move with the keys

thisal 2019-04-29 08:24

The graphics are nice, in my opinion it is easy to figure out how it works. You have to use the arrow keys or (AWDS), like in most Unity games. There are a few Things that Need to be improved. or example the AI in the second Level, does not really follow you, it just moves around. Maybe you should increase the radius in which the enemy dedects and follows you. (bake the Terrain, so it does not run into any other objects while Hunting you). Something that Needs to be changed as well is the Options menue. Because whenever you click it, you dont have the ability to return to the game. So you should involve a "Return to game" button or something that lets you close the menue. Something that is really nice besides the graphics is that the movement is extremely smooth and feels very good. How did you do that?

robowarrior1982 2019-04-29 08:26

Amazing entry, fit perfectly to the theme ! Very good graphics and sound ! And puzzle are good (and not to difficult for me ^^),very good job!

attala 2019-04-29 08:35

@thisal Yeah, there is a lot of improvements to be made. The enemy is moving on a navmesh and should avoid obstacles. It doesn't detect you when it's "back" is turned towards you. I didn't have time to visualize the front/back of the enemy :) The movement code and camera is really simple. Just check the source code. Thank you for your consctrutive feedback.

fm-studio 2019-04-29 08:52

Really liked the puzzle aspect of the game. New and interesting. Well done!

caspercaper17 2019-04-29 08:52

Great puzzle game! I did manage to get my battery inside of another battery but furtherwise it works really well.

theviraldragon 2019-04-29 08:59

Bonus points for the theme. I enjoyed it.

paul59 2019-04-29 09:24

Nice entry, especially for a first game. Atmospheric sound and graphics, good concept, well done! (Like the dead enemy/empty battery animation/model)

matterox 2019-04-29 10:27

It looks really good) And has nice puzzle mechanic.

lubaka 2019-04-29 10:29

I really like the concept! It is a bit challenging and requires some restarting but thats what makes it a good game! Great job!

jani-nykanen 2019-04-29 10:41

Nice puzzle game, the concept felt very original.

purpledartfrog 2019-04-29 11:48

Very nice entry :thumbsup_tone1: clean gfx, good audio and nice responsiveness

danidev 2019-04-29 13:16

Cool entry man, I like what you've done with this. Took some time before I got into it, but was very fun once I got it :D

generalanimal 2019-04-29 13:30

Cool entry, some things I would've added.. - Add a numeric representation of the energy values in different containers - Add the ability to look around the room

If there were numeric values, it would have added a nice layer of gameplay, instead of simply guessing when do I have enough energy to move on to the next phase of the level.

I couldn't know if the full battery arrived at its destination unless I actually went there and checked.

von-vista 2019-04-29 13:36

First, congrats for completing your game. I'll start with commenting on the concept itself which is executed nicely, the currency being the battery's own life, and the puzzle aspect is also pulled of nicely utilizing the core mechanics of the game. However, an improvement in this would be changing the UI of the buttons from its native assets, and some of the UIs has that kind-of pixelated look. Overall, solid submission

week-of-the-agents 2019-04-29 14:36

Cool idea for top puzzle portal-like game

barrier 2019-04-29 16:46

Really nice concept! I wish you could restart the level, its really bad when you die and have to restart the whole game. But otherwise it's pretty cool!

attala 2019-04-29 17:00

@generalanimal Yes, I wanted to do something like that, but never got around to it. It's supposed to be a little bit of a guessing game, but not this much.

@von-vista I'm glad you liked it. I agree, the UI needs some serious improvement :)

@barrier Yes I know. It is a bug that you can't restart/continue when you die. (But you can restart if you just get lost). If I just had more time... :)

Thank you all for your feedback!

jk5000 2019-04-29 18:12

This is a cool little puzzle game. The graphics and sound is overall good, but some of the machine noise is a bit laughed. In a way think I would like the game better without the enemies, but it is not a big issue. So overall is this a good LD game. Well done.

dvlv 2019-04-29 18:55

This is great. Kudos to you. Fun little puzzler and fits the theme well.

codesity 2019-04-29 19:34

I love it, quite simple. The Sounds are bit to loud, but it's maybe my browser. The Design and work behind, can be seen. Good Work!

tasakasama 2019-04-29 19:59

it's really nice and everything works ... negative point the sound too heavy

simone 2019-04-29 20:14

Really nice game to be your first one :) I would try to work harder on the camera for your next one. Also Look on youtube for Brakeys, he have some nice tutorials on how to improve the visual of your game in unity.

Good luck!

skoggy 2019-04-29 20:19

Good job! I think it fits the theme well and looks and plays good. If you press options you have to restart or quit

exploma 2019-04-29 21:44

Loved it! Great level design. Logic games are not so common in LD. So I welcomed it with grace  11/10. Music bit loud

exploma 2019-04-29 21:45

Loved it! Great level design. Logic games are not so common in LD. So I welcomed it with grace  11/10. Music bit loud

gao-ming 2019-04-30 10:40

It's very fun to play. Good job!

chrisdugne 2019-04-30 21:29

the energy filling is an excellent idea, great work!

simplepotential 2019-04-30 22:45

Nice puzzle game, I did have a couple on the first level where the battery didn't seem to make contact with the receiver at the end of the belt. After restarting several times I got it though. Sounds were fitting and the game fit the the theme well I thought.

mrnyarlathotep 2019-04-30 23:05

Nice idea - the margin of error for transferring energy was pretty harsh sometimes - it took me a few tries to pass the 'tutorial' level, because I sat in the conveyor belt charger until it has drained me fully, and then didn't have enough energy to open the door at the end; might be nice to only take the energy thats 'needed' rather than let you 'overspend' to the point the level is uncompletable, but you don't find out until later...?

Its a solid concept, and with a little polish could easily become a project beyond the scope of LD

attala 2019-04-30 23:16

@mrnyarlathotep Yes, you have a valid point. This is more of a fine tuning of the mechanics. I already have many ideas on how to improve this. Regarding the first level: The battery on the conveoyr belt is full. Which means it doesn't matter if you spend all your energy on getting the belt moving. As long as you go straight for the door after getting the energy from the full battery. Thanks for your feedback!

mrnyarlathotep 2019-04-30 23:21

@attala - I was playing on the Web build, so if your drain / fill mechanic is linked to framerate (ie is in Update() method) that might explain why I didn't manage to open the door...?

attala 2019-04-30 23:29

@mrnyarlathotep Aha, good to know, thanks.

mahalis 2019-05-01 02:39

This is well done! Really polished for one of your first games. I agree with what @mmyarlathotep said - there's a couple of puzzles that you can kind of accidentally fail early on without realizing it. Overall, though, nice work!

antoined73 2019-05-01 09:48

Nice game ! When you get shot, do you lose the same amount of life as you shoot ?

Good mood and interesting puzzles

attala 2019-05-01 10:05

@antoined73 Glad you liked it :) No, you lose more life getting shot.

pete-h 2019-05-01 11:48

Really nice little game, could have easily played more. The mechanic and puzzles are really well executed and felt really rewarding when you nailed them :)

The camera could be frustrating at times, It may have worked better top down? Also if you click on a UI element you still shoot.

Awesome entry! Well done!

nexusviper 2019-05-01 13:32

i liked your game but sounds are irritating. battery charging sound was really annoying other than that idea is interesting, i liked your enemy it scared the shit out of me. hahaha

historymaker118 2019-05-01 17:34

This was great. Really had some cool ideas going on with the core mechanic and the puzzle design, definitely a good use of the theme. This game was just oozing atmosphere despite the limited details, and I think a large part of that was the soundtrack which was perfect for this game. I'd really love to see you take this concept further, get some better graphics, make some more levels, give this some real polish. You could have the next portal on your hands if you know what to do with this. Good work!

jofersgames 2019-05-01 20:18

this was wonderful, full of lovely ideas :)

whats your guys twitter accounts if we wanted to follow and see what you do in the future? :)

attala 2019-05-01 20:55

@jofersgames It's only me :) This was a compo entry. My twitter account is @attala_ but I haven't been tweeting much myself. Maybe in the future. My plan is to continue on this game, and a couple of other neverending projects :) Glad you liked the game!

cheesepencil 2019-05-02 23:32

Neat-o!

My only complaint is that door takes forever to open even though the level is complete and there's no reason to keep standing around...

tony-redmer 2019-05-03 14:38

Very cool concept! Puzzles here were very well designed. Overall a really great entry!

kuviman 2019-05-03 15:21

I think there is too much free space but other than that the game is really cool! The idea is great

dk5000p 2019-05-03 15:50

I thought level 2 was the hardest. The later levels seemed to have more than enough energy to complete them. The game fit the theme very well and I enjoyed the energy mechanic.

snowschu 2019-05-03 16:27

Fun and clever. I loved how the UI was integrated with the character design rather than needing a separate menu and how the battery terminals sparked when there was energy leftover. I also enjoyed the added tension the enemies. Congrats on your first game. <3

Thanks for hanging out, as well. Here's the [link to the stream](https://www.twitch.tv/videos/419787348). Your game should start around [21:09]

kaiomoi 2019-05-03 19:02

Nice puzzel game! good work ! :D

miu 2019-05-03 23:28

So aside from some colision bug with the charge station, a bug where I could be on the last conveyor belt in the third level and the free space in the first two levels, I think this game is grezat, puzzles are nice and enemies are well balanced.

attala 2019-05-03 23:32

@miu Glad you liked it. I can only say that it's really satisfying working on the post LD version and getting rid of those collision bugs :)

simon-rahnasto 2019-05-04 00:26

Thank you for posting it on my stream earlier. I had a great time playing it, for a compo game this is really well polished and great looking. The puzzles were innovative and the theme was used in an interesting way. I'm glad that I actually managed to complete a few levels because puzzle games are a bit of a weakness for me hehe

Great entry!

ransom 2019-05-04 01:01

This is interesting. Like I said in Schu's stream, I like how the batteries are transparent so you can see their energy. I think that they should be completely empty, visually, when they're drained to make it more obvious. It might also be helpful if you sometimes had smaller batteries on the machines, so that you wouldn't waste excessive energy powering them beyond what they need to do, or if you could get the excessive power back.

Good job on your first entry!

flamus 2019-05-04 14:21

Game is so calming and relaxing, at the same time puzzles are fun to solve with a good level of difficulty. Good job creating such a well put game! If this is yours first, big congrats because the gameplay is great!

jorne 2019-05-04 17:51

Jeg elskede dette spil! It looks beautiful, and it's quite relaxing to play. It could fit right next to Portal and The Talos Principle, if the puzzles were more complex (I realise that's impossible to make in two days). Different types of machines aside from conveyor belts and doors could already make the puzzles more interesting and challenging. The enemies were well tuned, not to easy, not to hard, they fit perfectly in the calm environment.

I'm sure you already have ideas to extend the game. Here are some things I think could make the game even better: - dark parts in the level, which you can see for a while when you power their light to know what's there - faster opening exit doors - make battery charge locations slightly easier to access - make doors not take more charge than necessary

Tillykke!

webox 2019-05-04 19:11

Nice puzzles! A few things: * A few sounds were a but too loud (door mainly) * I wasn't always sure how much battery it's left on my character and how much I neeeded to open the door, maybe a numbre indicator would be cool

Other than that, great game! really cool and challenging

ursagames 2019-05-04 22:13

Thank you for submitting your game to be played on my stream!

pandan 2019-05-04 22:35

I think it fits the theme quite well! Waiting for the final door to open was kinda annoying, it lasted a tad too long :stuck_out_tongue:

Having each puzzle require the exact amount of energy available was hard, would be nice if there was a tad leeway, or at least a more concise representation of how much energy you had. (in a number or percentage)

very nice entry overall

kimily 2019-05-05 08:04

This was a really good solid game for your first ever ludum dare and first ever game! I really like the concept of batteries charging and the puzzle mechanics, however I totally didn't expect the enemies and the enemies were annoying to me . Once they start shooting at you, BOB AND WEAVE, BOB AND WEAVE! And then fail puzzle XD Also the door takes forever to open and it makes a really jarring sound effect (like a phone vibrating on top of a desk) that hurt my ears. But really good considering you did everything by yourself and in only 48 hours!

mags 2019-05-05 10:21

Cool game! Interesting aproach to theme. Good job!

green-rail 2019-05-05 15:14

The main mechanic is very elegant and you showed some good level design with it. The shooting is a bit off, but I guess it does the job. The music is also very nice. Overall great entry!

kaisean-games 2019-05-05 21:56

Wow! one of the best ideas this LD. Very well done.

I've noticed some bugs, but nothing critical.

Also, did you know that baterries kill eachother if you align their line of fire? Made the game a lot easiser.

Nice execution, nice onboarding. My, everything's nice.

jordantanner 2019-05-06 13:28

@attala First impression: This game is well put together. Second Impression: Same. Solid entry, man!

purrseus 2019-05-06 16:44

The base mechanics work really well! The game looks quite good too, even though it's all very technical, but that really fits. I really appreciate your interpretation of the theme!

As others have pointed out, some finetuning could greatly improve the experience, like a way to judge how much energy you need to spend/keep for the door. The sounds are relatively too loud, too.

But all in all a really, really solid job, especially for a compo game!

edevjogos 2019-05-07 01:35

Really cool, great take on the theme, i've enjoyed the level design too, i just think the sounds are way too loud. Oh, and I think you misspelled a word in the introduction, the text reads "The object of the game is" my guess is that you meant "objective" and not "object", anyway is great game.

attala 2019-05-07 06:28

@edevjogos That's funny. I hadn't noticed that :) Thanks for pointing it out. Glad you liked it.

enderswype 2019-05-07 15:20

nice game, enemies are a little too op tho

petitpois 2019-05-08 04:45

Really cool game, like the concept. Great work

dock-frankenstein 2019-05-11 11:38

Very fun, although the main menu is a little bit ugly.

oivin-f 2019-05-11 12:18

Fun interesting concept. I like the models/shaders a lot even if the rooms are a bit empty overall. It gives a certain "portal" feeling to it all. A few annoyances: The enemies can deplete your energy enough that you can't win but also can't lose. The camera is locked to the player so you can't always see where the enemies are. Collision is a bit finicky at times. I'm only saying this because overall I think the core game is really good!

avi 2019-05-13 10:59

Woaaahhhh what an awesome game! I am so thoroughly impressed with your work for a jam! Way to go!

rhewid 2019-05-15 20:58

Strong concept the theme was executed well. Solid entry overall! Like that one a lot.

syrapt0r 2019-05-15 22:28

Hi, I'm the dude that played your game live today ^-^ You can find the video here: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/425268176?t=00h18m24s

Really nice work, especially for your first game

jaywoody 2019-05-17 22:14

Very nicely done puzzle game. The gameplay after the first steps was simple to grasp but gave the player the freedom to do stupid things with that freedom. Theme was tightly incorporated to the gameplay and audio complemented the gameplay. There was a uniqueness to this. Very well done!

coda-highland 2019-05-18 04:16

This is pretty solid for a first jam game. It's got decent puzzle design.

coleslaughter 2019-05-18 06:52

I really really think you could have done without the combat in this game.

The puzzle premise is so unique and immediately intuitive. I really wanted to engage and figure it out at my own pace. But the enemies add a variable to the mix that only serves to make things less fun in my personal opinion. If you take too many hits, or aren't *perfect* with your shots, you might end up with not enough energy to finish the puzzle, and that's no fun...

I think the core concept has an insane amount of potential, and I would love to see it expanded upon in a slower-paced, more methodical game. Personally, I think you've got something really cool here. :)

attala 2019-05-18 08:11

@coleslaughter I agree :) The enemies was implemented late in the 48 hours when I was tired and suddenly became afraid that the game would be too boring. I've had a lot of feedback on this issue, and many say the same as you. I'm working hard on the post LD version at the moment and the enemies have changed fundamentally. They still pose a threat, but in a totally different way. They don't shoot, and they are now a part of the puzzle. (You lure them into traps to drain their energy etc.) Thank you for your feedback!

acearcher 2019-05-18 22:26

A little easy for my taste (I managed the last level without doing anything to the full battery) but still really enjoyable to play! The graphics were really nice, especially with the draining/filling power. I had the enemies detect me through walls once or twice, and once lost a level because an enemy came and attacked me while I was stuck being filled up and couldn't move. I didn't love the camera tilt when moving, and the sound the door makes while opening gave me a headache, but the game mechanics are really solid and I'd definitely be interested in playing a longer version!

msiddeek 2019-05-20 01:42

I like how every level introduced a new concept. Gives a natural flow for learning the game. Did not need a the tutorial text. The mechanics and the theme for the graphics and audio matched nicely as well, which is always good. Good job!

omiya-games 2019-05-20 03:56

Had a lot of fun playing and streaming this game. It's a fairly well-paced game about resource management, which did frustrate me at earlier levels, but was much easier and generous in the later ones. I personally had a hard time figuring out how much fuel I needed for each conveyor belts and yellow doors, so ended up experimenting with bits and pieces for the most part. Some sort of hard limit in either would have been useful. I would have also like to see more elements besides just enemies, conveyor belts, and yellow doors; though to be fair, this is a game jam and all. I also thought the way the camera rotated, it felt a bit drunken. It would have been nice if the camera followed the mouse, at least when combat was involved so I can see ahead where I'm aiming.

Obviously, I hit into some collision bugs which you already knew about. Still, I was impressed with what I played.
