Not bad. It had a nice gameplay loop that didn't feel frustratingly difficult but was fun!
It's pretty good, but I just needed to farm a bunch people into existence and build bridges. :P
Doesn't exactly fit the theme, but I love the graphics and sounds. It's slightly buggy with its physics, but it's not terrible.
Not bad! I would have made long notes and give bonus points for jumping on the note accurately. Besides that, the music is slightly lacking but isn't bad. I'd do more with this project! With a little more effort put in, you could just make any song + a note mapping to add more content (maybe extra effects to make them a little more unique). :)
OH MAN THAT WAS HARD. I beat it! That was fun! It maybe felt a little too sensitive when it came to collisions, but otherwise it was great!
LOL. My rocket shook like crazy, but I guess I must be a rocket scientist cuz it got pretty far that I lost my ship. Great entry.
The audio could be a bit punchier and could possibly had a bit more visual flare, but DAMN are the graphics and music fitting. The only other thing I can say I had trouble with was hitbox when trying to go in one block sized holes. Great Entry!
I died. But hey! I felt how unstable everything was getting, so I guess that's a plus!
A very literal way of interpreting the theme, but it's really well made. The graphics are clean and simple and fit their purpose. This would make for a good mobile game if it weren't for the fact that there are dozens of these games already. On the flip side, this is very impressive for your first jam entry.
One note is that you probably need to opt-out of the audio category as it is clear you didn't make any of the audio. I know this because I too also use OGA for music and sounds in some of my projects. :)
There are a lot of sounds that are playing offscreen that could either be quieter or silent that'd make playing the game easier. Also, why does the player take damage from falling. You have a giant fall right off the bat, so why have the player take mandatory damage?
I can't seem to be able to download your game. Can you post a release link on your github?
I got stuck on what I assume to be the last part of the game and totally reminds me of Getting Over It. It's a pretty good game and if I wasn't concerned I was going to play it all day I'd definitely play it for longer. :)
I will probably continue playing this later, but this is awesome!
Not bad!
Not bad! I don't know exactly how to progress a lot, but it's awesome looking!
Not bad. Most tycoons of this sort aren't first person.
Not entirely sure how attacking is meant to work, but I love the graphics!
The stuff looks awesome! Shame it didn't get far.
Not bad. The game was relatively easy, but you have a timer so it would get really difficult if you were speedrunning. :)
THIS IS REALLY POLISHED.
The graphics and sounds are amazing. The only complaint I have is I tried to attack the enemies on instinct, probably would be a good idea to convey that to the player, but other than that this game was GREAT.
That was hilarious. Even though it probably didn't need most of my messaging additions I did it anyway.
@quinn-patrick I actually figured that one out quickly. I only used the walkthrough once because I was confused why the monkey wasn't taking my "bannana" (Spoiler Alert: turns out I've been spelling banana wrong this entire time).
I was really hoping a page would release, because DANG I LOVE THIS. I gives me such a happy heart to see some epic games being made with GameMaker and I'm really impressed!
I gotta ask, how on earth did you make this? is it essentially a wrapped screen folded onto itself using shader magic?
The mining is a bit slow. I'd recommend making it faster or make the space that exists more worthwhile for taking the amount of time it does.
Wait, so can I meet other players? Also the game lags a bit on windows when colliding with barrels, crates, and pots.
The graphics are fantastic. It gives a huge PS1 graphics vibe and I really love that. There are some points however that it's not clear where you are meant to go to avoid dying (and I don't mean the three tunnels that one is on me lol). Overall, really great entry!
Not exactly a game, but not bad :)
@otis What the heck? Bro, you can't do that here.
Pretty good, I'm unsure about the anitalising on somethings though.
There needs to be a bit more polish and I'd find different sounds, but on the design side of things it is a perfect entry and I'd play this on my phone. I'd recommend making an option to reverse controls so the opening is where you are looking looking and vice versa.
Not bad. 👍
I'm actually slightly interested by role playing games and this one seems quite interesting. I can't exactly rate this game as I don't really have the people who'd be interested, but you ever decide to turn this into a full thing I'd love to know about it! Cheers! :)
Really cool looking game, but I'm bad at rhythm games so. lol
Technically, the rules say that theme is a thing that the community cares about and you don't have to follow it. I must say though, well done on the system. It needs polishing, like some of my characters just stopped looking for another enemy to fight, but by itself it stands quite well.
Heh, it looks great but it has some pretty hard to control physics, I'd recommend making the object that go out of orbit be more forgiving in that they slightly aim toward the nearest enemy. :)
Great graphics, a shame my PC lagged a bit at the beginning, and probably doesn't need a mouse function for the game, rather it needs a higher FOV. Great entry!
QUite Difficult, haven't actually beaten it but I can tell I was pretty close.
SPOILERS!
I went through the event data file. I found one titled "What the!?" describing a ship THAT I FLEW shooting MYSELF down. Bravo.
I was honestly waiting for this kind to come out. Not quite what I expected and I got a bit dizzy playing it, but is a pretty good one none the less.
It has some pretty good gameplay though it feels a bit stale and unchanging besides at the start. It has some pretty good graphics but I kinda wish there were some sound effects that matched the intense synth playing. Stil a pretty good entry.
There appears to be an issue with your game's camera in that the game is telling me to click on something that is offscreen I can't click. Just let me know when this is fixed so I give it proper feedback :)
The graphics and mechanics are pretty cool, though it'd be nice to know exactly what each button did so I could further analyze the puzzle and being able to zoom in and out might be a good addition so I can see everything, and sometimes the houses appear to have some glitchy textures. Overall though, fantastic game!
Oh my goodness, that is so dang cute! A really small game, but you'll probably get pretty far just from that cute voice. :)
The game appears to have frozen when the [REDACTED] killed my dad, but oh boy I like this concept! It's really good! With a bit more polish you could perhaps turn this into a full game :)
Hmm, I like how it shows the other players, but I kinda wish that meant there was more multiplayer compatibility. I also don't see the point of the swearing in this, lol.
The graphics confused me a lot. The mechanic is only so-so but could easily be improved if there were more allies. The music needs to be quieter by quite a bit. Pretty good entry overall.
Okay, I gotta give this thing a try for the pure sake of that blog post. Regardless of anything, impressive work dude!
HOLY CARP! This is Compo!? I'm impressed! You nailed the level design, the graphics fit perfectly, and you made a fantastic game in only 48 hours! Dang! I'm thoroughly impressed.
It's hard to attack, and the player is kinda slow. Didn't get too far in this one I'm afraid.
Don't see the connection between the theme, but it is an interesting story.
It was moving, I don't know how you can beat it, but it was really atomospheric.
Dang, I really wish I had VR, on the other hand, that's disgusting I could bare to play it. *shivers*
Love it! Really nice concept! It also looks to me that you used sprite stacking.
SPAM: The Game
I have mixed feelings about seeing blood in such a cute game.
Interesting concept, but it's a little hard to control.
The music was really loud and kinda hurt my ears listening to them. The concept was really nice though! :)
Wait, so the guy on the other line is you? What a plot twist!
If only I was more than one person :P
Almost beat it! Really well done! Loved it! And the enemies kept it interesting! :)
It's pretty good.
Wow, literally dark. Well done!
I like it. Though, the music being reset does annoy me a bit.
**Starves**
Me: Aaaaaaah!
Radio: Snake! Are you there!? Snake! SNAAAAAKE!
really good btw, loved it.
Kinda short, but okay.
Almost sad. :(
Whoa, I've got to try with someone at some point.
It kept saying the baby needs meat. And I was creeped out tbh.
Was this original intended for VR? Because I'm playing it and I'm imagining a VR title.
I'd make it more obvious you progressed because I thought the game just reset. It's simple but cool. :)
I'll have this bookmarked for later...
Thanks for hurting my ears.... XD
Honestly, the best thing here is the graphics. I think the sword needs to be faster and have more **umph** and the player health should be signified.
The moment I heard the voice acting, I knew I struck gold :P
I'm unsure as to what exactly I'm doing in the game. :/
It's not bad, there are a few minor issues including a problem with skipping to the next message adding extra characters to the next message and not being able to restart the level by pressing R. Otherwise, a nice idea.
I agree with the guy above, this would make for a great VR Title.
The audio is perfect, the graphics simplistic for what it required, and is overall enjoyable.
The theme interpretation isn't exactly what I expected, but it is a welcome one.
This is very similar to a concept I collaborated on the last time I did LD. This was quite interesting, but I'm afraid the sounds hurt a bit and not all the mechanics are explained well enough in my opinion. The text crawl at the beginning called for images in my opinion. I wanted to see the battle and hidden politicians that led up to these events.
All in all, good concept.
It's not what I expected, but it's a welcome addition to the many things of experiments on here.
I say good job, but I think it'd be cool to have the capability of images and sounds and possibly a custom theme.
I’m going to give this a go in the morning, but it’s to have potential. Maybe someone can make this it’s own full fledged project?
@earnso Actually! You can fix bugs after the jam is over and update it. Then people are allowed to vote on the bugfix version. Just make sure to say what you changed ;)
Nope! Nope! Nope! I'm going to see if there is a true ending to this game. Give a me a second!
Edit: Unless there is a music note I'm missing, I don't think you can get a true end :(
I'm unsure how to progress due to the player being able to simple walk off screen, though it might just be resolution issues. I won't give any ratings because haven't experienced the game.
There is a problem with writing code in which you must select you code before typing. Also increasing time causes the drone to have difficulties with circling around an object to mine.
When all resources are mined, nothing comes back and nothing seems to indicate that depleted resources would be a problem. All in all, nice concept though.
I'm going to rate this at a later point, due to the fact it seemed to have crashed, but stay crashed despite the fact it was reopened.
HOLY CRAP! I'M BLOWN AWAY BY THIS GAME!
Solid performance y'all!
The game was really well done. Of course, no game comes without problems.
My first and prominent problem has to be the fact that you are required to teleport back to the beginning when you upgrade. Players should choose to teleport back and the animation, while cool, probably needs to be faster as it gets old quick.
The second issue I have is that the game only has one sound effect, and I don't even know what the sound even is. Sure, it happens when the players falls but it doesn't exactly convey that. It'd be great to hear more awesome noises when you jumped, used the jetpack, maybe lasers when they are close enough, and upgrades.
Besides those, I feel like finding the batteries were a little more difficult to find than the final upgrade, and there is a bug where if you fall from a high enough point you will clip through the walls and somehow the outside of the walls become solid (though originally it was thought that it was some kind of cool easter egg ;) ).
Overall, well done on the game, the graphics are fantastic and with a little bit of work this game could see it's way into full fledged Robo-Adventure.
Well done! Not being able to control high I wanted to jump is one of my only complaints.
Now that was a great experience! Quite polished and understandably had only a cliche but good way of interpreting the theme.
The game didn't try to be clever, it tried to be good which I quite like.
Pretty much, floors are slippery and the sensitivity is needs to be able to be changed. But I loved the concept! Keep at it!
Looks interesting, I'll play it when I can.
Also, love the name.
This game is great! It's perfect for phones. If you want, I can export it to android.
The game is a perfect representation of what the theme could be used for. Great Job!
WOW! This is a freaking compo game!?!?!? Color me impressed!
Interesting Concept
It's quite good, you do slide a bit too much though. This is really fun!
Had to vote 5.0 because of that joke. lol
The controls are WASD, E, and the Spacebar. Just so people know.
It was a bit glitchy and a bit short, but I liked the concept.
I honestly didn't quite get it. And you can get stuck in the door when it closes. Also, sounds are valued to me, and some people would like to hear the game they are playing.
While it isn't entirely clear what makes it related with "Sacrifices must be made," but it does create a great game. Awesome! I just really wish there was some sounds in the game to tie it up with a bow, even if they were just simple.
I'm not entirely a fan of the music, but the game concept is okay.
I like how each of the enemies had chess powers. Though at the end when you ■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■ your color should ■■■■■■■■■■■■■.
Pretty good! Not the best of graphics but I like the concept.
This is a pretty good game. The concept of losing more health as you go is also a very nice touch. I also like how you end up going backwards in the end.
I love the graphics. They're really cute. I think the dead bots should be aligned to a grid though, because I found I died at a single spike where I died before. Also, the platforms didn't move you along, which is an incredibly annoying thing to deal with. Good game overall
It was okay. Honestly, there wasn't very much I understood, and there was a bug that prevented me from progress.
I love the entire concept. When you stick together (literally), and sacrifice to get to the end is really fun. I never finished it, but I can say it was really funny for some reason. lol. 9/10
I can't stop laughing at how funny the volcano looks! I love the tribute to DDR. 9/10
LOL! I love the sense of humor in this. I did have bug where I got stuck in the corner, so you might want to look into that.
A brilliant concept of shooting your friends to win. However, I don't know if I am doing it in the right way, as I am forced to make a character jump and then switch to the archer to affect to get a platform. 8/10
As your first entry, I need to inform you that participating in a compo requires the source code released. ;)
I really liked it! I liked how the voice was real and the ambience in different areas was a nice tice. 9/10
Ignoring the theme, because I wasn't apart of this, the game seems very well done, the placement of the tiles is a little weird and the rotation was slightly confusing. The concepts were quite easy to grasp, and I love how "efficiency" is determined by filling up all the squares; however, it is a little misleading, even with the humor.
It plays as well as a phone time waster would. When the machine is moving things, I suggest making the conveyor belt be animated.
4/5 Score

Probably my favorite entry thus far. :)
It has a great risk and reward payoff and great simplistic graphics! :)
Sara's Unfinished Robot Disaster by SaraJS 2023-10-03T21:10:13Z ♥ 1
I really love the concept. The movement is slightly weird to me but that's just cuz it's tank controls. Would love seeing a full version (an online experience would also be kinda cool :) ).
unBound by mz_eth 2023-10-02T22:12:53Z ♥ 0
First, amazing presentation. I love the graphics!
Second, as mentioned before in other comments, character movement is tad slippery making it a bit difficult at points to control the character.
I like the theming and how you incorporated the restriction.
The audio isn't too good in my opinion especially since you warp into a body rather consistently. I'd either do a different sound or adjust the audio balance to not be as long. :)
Overall, not a bad title. :)
Ghastly Tower by CrispyPear 2023-10-02T21:58:02Z ♥ 1
Probably already mentioned above, but reiterating for the sake of data: The audio was maybe a bit loud and probably could use a bit of balancing.
That aside, I really like the interpretation of the theme here. The idea of Tetris platformers is not a new idea, but one where you can actually affect the environment is new to me. I will say that I kinda wanted to jump normal instead of using a bullet, but it pretty much existed anyways with shooting down. :)
The graphics were also not bad, giving me some Downwell vibes (you don't want to know how long it took me to remember what it was called) but with a somewhat darker undertone.
Overall, a really good entry! :)
