The game is fantastic! From the fun gameplay, to the entertaining visuals and audio. My only minor complaint would be the lack of ambient noise or music, but other than that, very nice entry.
Foon → Ludum Dare Explorer → LD48 → BLAST MINER

@erik-bermudez There actually is some ambience, except I keep making my ambience too quiet lol.
Nice and simple yet satisfying gameplay. I also like the art style and the audio of the game. The enemies spawn maybe a bit too fast or there could be some kind of health system instead of instakill as the game is pretty hectic and you can lose control pretty fast. Overall an awesome entry
I think it might be a little bit too difficult, since you are a oneshot and the enemies spawn really quickly. Other than that, I love the rocket-jump mechanic. Other than the lack of music, the sound design feels extremely satisfying, the visuals are nice. Overall very solid game!
Great gameplay, but a little too difficult. I feel like having jetpack moles able to move *through* blocks is unfair, as is placing them right next to the player spawn in some levels. The spawn rate also seems too high, as mentioned above.
I really liked this. The pixel art was fun. The gameplay was simple and satisfying. The animation and feel of the controls was very good. This was very well done.
Good gravy, the animations! xD
This really is good work.
Did you happen to watch Vlambeer's video on gamefeel? A lot of the techniques you're using remind me of stuff covered in that talk. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AJdEqssNZ-U
@youthfulidealism It’s combination between a bunch of things I’ve observed plots some videos on the subject. I have no idea if I’ve seen Vlambeer’s thoughts on it though. :)
very strong entry! im a sucker for a good rocket jump. really loved the part when the flying moles show up lol
Dang! this looks epic! I'm gonna have to go boot up my windows machine for this bad boy!
This is such a fun game. The controls feel amazing and the artstyle sells it all
This is a really good game, it gets pretty hard quick, but that's understandable for a jam game with not many levels ~~(I assume, I haven't managed to complete it, yet...)~~
Also great to play a game with snappy platforming :D
Edit: GG ;)
Niiiiiiiiice! Screenshake EVERYTHING. This looks amazing. I'm a bit sad there's no music, but one can't do everything :'( Moving around feels great, exploding stuff feels great. I'm not sure if the game is hard or if I really suck, but I had a great time playing.
I loved this game! The sound effects, difficult and movement is great.
@paulloz I’ll be sure to name some next time. Thanks for the feedback!
Very fun game :) Maybe just adjust the difficulty a bit. Something like allowing me to keep my collected gold would work!
Great gamefeel, I love the classic indiegame screenshake. I couldn't get past level 3 tho, the flying ennemies were way to fast lol. sound effects are OK, but some bumping tune would greatly improve the overall experience imo
@hyperspacejelly I'm slowly becoming more and more convinced this game would be worth making into a full game IF I adjust some difficulty stuff lol. Thanks for the feedback!
This is super satisfying. The sound effects and animation are adorable. I loved the blast back when shooting, though sometimes it's a little much (too difficult for my hand-eye coordination hehe...). Very impressive job!
The pixel art and game atmosphere are fantastic. I had a lot of fun boosting myself with the gun. My only criticism is that the game can be too challenging for casual gamers, particularly because the enemies spawn at an relatively overwhelming pace.
There's some real potential to make this into a full game, minor tweaking to enemy spawn logic is enough to nail the difficulty just right I'd say, and some music as cherry on top.
I'd also prefer some form of mouse locking for the game window as I kept screwing myself over by clicking outside the window when frantically trying to fend off jetpack moles.
Really fun game, can I ask what program/technique you used for sound design? I really like it.
The blasting and mining around is really fun. I'll echo the concerns about difficulty, I found the infinite spawners to make everything kind of either too easy or almost impossible. I like the idea of having to dig wells to stop them but in practice I found that to not work very well due to the movement. Perhaps that could work with a bit of change to level design, but it was really fun.
The controls and art are really good. The game is a bit difficult, but enjoyable, good work !
You guys are awesome! This feedback very helpful :)
@cakts it’s a combination between mixing sounds in Audacity from recordings I made from my phone like stepping in the ground, swiping my hand on my hoodie, and pretty much anything I could find outside or around the house that made a similar sound to what so was looking for and using Chiptone to make computer generated sounds. The shooting sound is actually made from an empty soda can filled with wrappers that I blew into. I also use various effects but the majority of what I talk about can be found this this incredibly helpful video here: https://youtu.be/Kux_LvRl57U These guys are definitely better at sound design than me but so try. :)
Very fun, but also very challenging. I got to about Level 5 before I just had to give up, as the endlessly-respawning enemies made it too difficult to move around. If they respawned less frequently, and there was more of a "tell" before the Jetpack Moles charge at you, I think the difficulty would be a lot more manageable.
Blowing up the terrain (and those pesky moles) was very satisfying, but there's also a nice strategic element in that you can't just blow up everything in sight - you have to make sure you can get back out of whatever hole you've just dug, and back to the portal.
I'd like to see a full (and easier) version of this, it's very fun and has a lot of potential.
@f1krazy Definitely would tone it down a lot, lol. This is likely to be THE issue I struggle with the most.
