very good overall my only complaint is that it needs too much precision to line yourself to the tile you want to drill while jumping
Foon → Ludum Dare Explorer → LD48 → TAILSPIN!

Absolutely incredible entry! Every thing was on-point, really, great job! You guys have earned my first 5-star overall this jam!
Absolutely incredible game. I have no other feedback. It feels like a game made in three months rather than three days. Had a blast playing it, and the mechanics and level of polish developed are beyond anything I've seen from a game jam before.
This is awesome! A whole game and then some. Lovely art, music, and gameplay.
This game is gorgeous and SO polished, it's hard to believe it's a jam game!! Y'all have done an AMAZING job, there are so many interesting mechanics and the game feels super fun and responsive to play. The tutorial is also perfect for learning, the checkpoints aren't too punishing, everything ramps up really well and the audio + art and animations really make this game shine. Wonderful job and congratulations!!
Incredibly game, its amazing this is from a game jam as was said before me. The precision in the air feels so good and it just feels amazing to pogo off walls, and the additional bonus items on each stage really make me try and try to push myself that little bit more. The Music is excellent and the art style is great, with everything clear and visible while also changing up things every once in a while. I don't really have any complaints at all, people should totally give this a try!!
Edit: One addition too. I really love how clearly readable every platforming challenge is. It really puts the important part as the execution, in a way that sort of reminds me of Celeste.
Wow, you guys made a fully fledged game in three days. Played through all the levels, nice use of the checkpoints to take the heat off the more punishing segments. Drill bounce mechanic was interesting and novel. Art and music feel very polished. Nicely done.
What an amazing game in every aspect, really impreesive work!
I'm blown away by this! Amazing art, level design, gameplay, balance, music and so on. Only bad thing is that it would play much better with a gamepad/controller.
I hope you make this into a full game, would love to buy it!
Amazing work!
Sounds like a complete and solid game! Loved the mechanics, art and music!!Good Luck on the jam <3
Amazing game! Thank you!
This is probably my favorite game in the jam so far, it feels like a finished result which is incredible for the only 72 hours you had to make it. The core mechanic and movement of the game are super fun and feel like a really well done and subversive spin on drills. Usually when I see drills in games they punish you for hitting the wrong material by stunning the player or knocking them back, its a really strong innovation to make the game revolve around additional movement provided by bouncing off of walls with it. Really great work!
This is amazing, the level of polish is incredible, I truly don't have anything bad to say. Give your congratulations to your level designer because they're a beast. I played up to the end of world 2, 100%ing every level, I plan to finish later today!
What can I say after spending an hour pressing every single drop of juice out of your game? Well done. Not only for making a crazy good jam entry but also one of the best platformers I played recently. Cheers.
This game is amazing! Perfect!!.
I will probably continue playing this later, but this is awesome!
Really good game you guys! :) Addicting as fudge and really nice-looking along with sweet music and fitting sound effects (I kinda get a sort of Yoshi's Island vibe from the sound effects, might just be me though).
I made it through the first two worlds and will go on to tackle the third world during lunch tomorrow! :D
How?!
the controls took a while to get used too, maybe allow the player to have jump on the W and up arrow keys aswell.
Amazing work, loved playing this on stream. Shocking amount of polished content for a jam game, this could be plopped down on a marketplace for sale as-is. I'd be shocked if this didn't make it to top 5 Overall.
Amazing game, my favorite so far, everything's so perfect. good job!!
Wow, you made some really good mechanics and really made beautiful use of them in every level. The amount of content here and design of every level is insane. Kudos for all the work put into this. Loved how fluid the drill mechanics felt. However, things did get a little frustrating at times when you had to precise with aiming the drill. It's still an awesome entry though. Phenomenal job though
What a polished game! I included it in my compilation video series of a bunch of LDJAM games! https://youtu.be/bDsxxURqUQM
Can't put into words how good this is for an LD game. I'd pay to play a full version of this. It gives off the same energy as Celeste, one of my favorite indie games ever. Awesome stuff! Would love some more insight on how this was put together and how the team was able to be so well coordinated to make this in such a timely manner
Amazing game! This is incredible for just a 3-day jam.
Incredible entry. This dosnt feel like a jam game. Art was top quality and i wasted maybe too much time on this game hahahah. Loved it. Want to see more of you guys!
What an amazing game, fun and enjoyable music, innovative mechanics, well-designed maps and extremely beautiful art. Congratulations guys!!
Amazing. The game is extremely polished, the mechanics are clean, and it fits the theme perfectly. Is a real pleasure for me to find such finished games in a jam :D
There are plenty of submissions that are truly great for a game jam, but this is one of the rare ones that goes well beyond even that. A game with a fun, dynamic mechanic that can be used multiple ways (the wall jumping feels great), a great aesthetic, well done audio, really solid level design across 2 dozen levels, and you somehow still managed to find time for a well polished menu and a damn trophy system?!
Then I was typing this and was going to say the only thing I felt was really missing was controller support, but I decided to try it since it's built natively into many engines these days and of course that works too! So now the only thing I can even "complain" about is wanting the ability to remap controls (I'd like to try triggers for the drill).
I'd still be pretty damn impressed if someone told me this was made in a month, but in 3 days? That's absolutely crazy. Bravo!
Wow this is so polished!!!! i loved everything about it. So much content!
The quality of your game is fantastic! What I like the most: 1. Consistency. Tailspin feels like a complete game. 2. Audio. 3. Drilling mechanics and level design.
WOW. If this isn't the winner this year, there's no justice. Congratulation. Everything is top notch. 5/5. Would buy it if it was a game.
A nice polished game! I like the wall jumping mechanic, feels just right! Feels like an official commercial release. The music is also nice.
Im amazed how complete this game is. Was a joy to play!
This entry is just perfect. Really. Please, release it on Steam. No need for improvements.
Absolutely brilliant! The graphics, music and gameplay are solid, and the level design is fun, as well as being very good at leading / teaching the player and being forgiving (well-placed checkpoints). I can tell a lot of experience and care has gone into this!
I'd be really interested to know how you put together such a polished game in such a short time -- have you worked together a lot? Do you have a standard plan / toolkit? I'm just getting started with game jamming in groups, and although it's _really_ fun it's really hard not to tread on each other's toes -- whilst clearly you lot have been very efficient :)
Excellent work and I'm looking forward to playing more!
holy heck this is incredible, I agree with @elendow, I would pay for this as is
Very nice entry, the game is super polished and I like the mechanics. It takes a bit to get used to the digging part, but once you grasp it, it's super fun! Well done!
@leekanarchism @kp-cftsz Thanks for your interest in the process! We don't exactly have a formal plan or a pre-made toolkit, but having made several jam games together in the past we have figured out a good structure for making them. The whole jam was spent in a voice call, being able to communicate easily and having a good idea of what everyone is doing and what needs to be done was essential to getting so much done in such a short period of time. Having a dedicated concept artist was also really useful, having someone focused entirely on designing things for the game removed a lot of the stress from the other artists having to iterate on designs until we were all happy with them. We also made sure to get someone to playtest the game a few hours before the deadline! This uncovered a lot of problems we didn't know of so we used the last 8 hours to fix those issues while getting the final few stages in.
Holy crap. Absolutely amazing. I hope you go on to sell this.
Crazy good high quality game. If I had to give any nit-picky feedback it would be that some of the levels felt long/padded for no reason because of repeated ideas or nothing new being introduced along the way. Again that's just nit-picky feedback. They're very entertaining and challenging too. The optional objectives are a nice touch for anyone wanting to squeeze out even more challenge.
The artwork is great, the music is good and fits the mood well, also a lot of good variety.
Great game, good job everyone!
Managed to collect everything and i had a blast!
That's the most complete game I've played in a jam by far, every aspect was top notch: gameplay, level design, graphics, music and sfx, i am just blown away, great work everyone!
The level design on 4-3 just wow!
I found a minor bug: when you drill down and you have only one tile of space, the character will get stuck and not be able to move forcing you to restart from checkpoint:

Overall it was an awesome experience, very well done everyone!
wow! This is a jam game? I don't think there is anything to say here.. you already know what gem you've created. This is the game i've played for the longest in this jam, i've finished it and tomorrow i'm gonna collect a few scarabaeus i'm missing. So much flow.. tight ctrls, music, animations, graphics, impressive lvl design.. everything for an awesome overall experience. Damn! and i thought we did a cool game but yours it's just much more better :P. Great works guys.. i'm a new follower :)
This is really really good! Everything from the graphics to level design to audio is top-notch. And there's so much content too!
I had to wonder who was the team behind this and it turns out you all also made Trick Keys for the GMTK jam. I loved that game and it probably my top platformer pick from that jam!
Going to follow you all on itch now and I'm looking forward to your future jam games :)
Pretty solid entry, physics could use some tweaking on the gravity and some of the enemies could use better tells on where they're going and what they're doing so the player doesn't have to juggle anticipating so many things based on memory timer alone
I'm surprised you were able to get this much done just for a game jam. Well done!
You guys have accomplished to create a finished game. Controls felt extremely tight. Everything was intuitive. The only tiny little nit-pick I have are the bouncy mushrooms. Because the mushrooms wait for you to land to give you the jump boost, it almost feels like input delay, even thought, I KNOW why they wait for you to land. If this is intended, then I have absolutely nothing critical to say about the game, it is a finished product.
This was really fun and impressively complete! Managed to 24/24 the scarabs and diamonds and it was all worth it- gave me huge Celeste vibes, but additionally caters to my bias toward bird protagonists. A minor bug, which made me appreciate the resets in the pause menu, but you can get locked if you drill right between a semi-solid and a drillable platform:

I hope to see more of this, either with more gameplay content or perhaps developing the lore of the current experience to have more of a story to it. :D
My question is: Why is this game not yet on Steam being marketed? You even have achievements! There is absolutely nothing missing. I feel entitled to say no more.
Absolute congratulations!
Reminds me alot of celeste! if this game was like 10$ on steam i'd totally buy it, it's very fun and i can't wait to see more!
Wow. That was genuinely one of my favorite experiences this jam. I just spent the last 2 and a half hours playing through and 100%-ing this. It was absolutely wonderful and perfectly captured me with the right balance of difficulty with some really cool mechanics. When you finally nail that section that you've been banging you're head against for the last 20 minutes it feels so good and reminds me a lot of a game "1001 Spikes". If you told me I just paid money for that experience I would believe you. Really not much to say and critique here. I have tried for about 20 minutes to think of any criticisms but have almost nothing. Only minor thing I found myself wanting was a quick restart button to take me back to the current checkpoint. Even though death is not often more than a few seconds away or through the pause menu, a button like "R" to cause instant reset would feel a lot better I think when I know I've messed something up and need to go back. Other than that absolute banger job! I'll be following you lot to watch what you make (hopefully more levels to this game...?) Also here's my trophies! It was very satisfying to finally get them all!

This does not feel like a jam game. This feels like a fully polished released product. There was so much content, I didn't even have time to play through it all. What I did play felt very solid. The wall jumping with the drill was a very clever solution to the common problem of regular jump vs. wall jump problem when 1 button has 2 different behaviors depending on context and sometimes it does what players don't want. There's even achievements? Like, what?! I realize there's a large team behind this, but collaborating in such a short period of time is bonkers, especially when the game is fun to play on top of all that!
This looks awesome, would love an HTML or Mac port!
Loved this game, felt like a complete polished short game and impressed that you were able to make it for the game jam. The movement of the little guy was so good that it made it fun to just mess around with drilling around and jumping which kept me playing. The amount of content you were able to get in and the menus looked great. Definitely a game that I'll be coming back to. Also like that you added the scarabs which gave the game more difficulty if the player wants to do 100% completion and see the other ending, was a nice touch and added replayability which is always nice for these types of games. Great job.
I just stopped at 2-6 on my first playthrough.. Polished game, snazzy Chiptune-soundtrack and even achievements in place.. I would not understand how one could attain those golden scarabs from those extreme positions (eg. beneath killzone underneath the 'tramposhroom'/'bounceshroom').. Very solid good feels at 1st world.. then at 2nd world, after number of attempts, I bow-out, it's a gem for core-platformers.. clever execution of drill-action features (drill-flect to walls), was somehow expecting to drill upwards however I could see it's quite well laid out and at times demanding on some bottle-necks on careful timing..
Suggestion: - Mr.Driller-esque type of drill-game action Mini-game/Arcade: collect as much golden scarabs [or a set #] and/or diamonds before timer runs out (downward drilling and occasional stunt-strats.), time-extended by clocks or drill-smash a hourglass-bug?
