LD42 — Running out of space

Heirs Kingdom by Valter 2018-08-14T08:29:03Z

Awesome game! easy to understand and fun to experiment and try new methods. Think I may have found a cheat though ;)

The Necromancer Saga: Endless Dungeons by frankitox16 2019-04-30T08:27:56Z

Great job! Necromancy is a classic take on getting power at the cost of your own life. Enjoyed playing through it! Couple things; you used unity so as far as the lighting goes it looks like you just used the default light that comes in the scene maybe and didn't generate lighting to get ambient bounce light. the shadows in our scenes were also pitch black before generating lighting. Also the skeletons got in my way a bit when trying to run away from guards or get through tight spaces, but it was enjoyable just having an army of skeletons! good job again!

It Will Cost You Your Life by R3L0ad1 2019-04-30T22:53:26Z

Fun little game! as others have said the character is a bit slidey and loading screen is a bit long and hard to look at. Only other things I might change is that it felt bad to start at wave 1 every time and change the sound to distinguish when you hit an enemy and an enemy hits you. Multiple times I accidentally slid out the door and had to come back in and start over. Also the 5 heart enemies are invisible? Not sure if that was intended. I had fun though so good job!

Idle Idol by Daniel Moreno 2019-04-30T09:28:16Z

Great game! Nice casual start out but quickly ramped up! I didn't want it to end yet though! I was on my way to covering the map in blue temples when suddenly I won! Once I started getting enough temples it was kind of a mini game to try and place enough temples before they made too many cultists. Very nice visuals and feedback. Only gripe I had was the clicking on the idol sound was a bit shrill. Also It seemed like the second temple that gave +6 wasn't really needed. It took up more space and gave the same boost ad the previous one. Other than that fantastic!Capture.PNG

Knit Worth by ColeSlaughter 2019-05-10T08:51:36Z

Hahaha that was fantastic! The beginning cutscene was amazing and it was a fun silly game to play. I'm not sure if you wanted it to be a rhythm game or not but it felt like it wanted to be. If that's what you guys were aiming for I might reinforce that with some visual queue or each set only last 1 or 2 bars, etc. That's mainly because I kind of felt like I was guessing when the blue ones were going to go. I know they flash but with the screen shake and everything I might just make it a bit clearer. Other than that, overall fantastic game. couldn't stop laughing and played it for a while.

Life's a Dish by dxk2294 2019-04-30T07:43:53Z

Very interesting concept! While I was a little unsure of how or why things were combining the way they did I still have fun just mixing and matching randomly. I got up to 94% but I'm not sure how I got there! Anyway the style pf the graphics was great and the music was nice to listen to. Great job!

Sheep It by anstabo 2019-05-10T06:48:19Z

That was amazing! Great job! Really polished all around. The animation was fun to watch and the sound effects made it that much better, too. The only thing I might add is something to explain what the pipe is before anything comes out of it. I messed around with it for a while before throwing the sheep in the truck. Otherwaise fantastic game!

Hemomancers by Aditya Kumar 2019-04-30T07:09:32Z

Cool concept! I love the little sprites! Like others have said, I would change the text to make it a bit more readable but not really that much of an issue. I didn't have anyone to play with so I just played against myself in another window but I still enjoyed it!

Robots' life is Currency by gecco.xyz 2019-05-01T02:50:16Z

Very short but cool little game. I could see this going for a few more rooms with more box based puzzles. Only issues I found were I could clip through the wall next to the first row of robots and through the corner on the left side of the box out conveyor. Good job I just want to play with this robot more!

The Fabulous Wandering of Gorgeous Inconspicuous Piggy Bank 9000: Amazing Pigsy by EvilSock 2019-05-10T07:19:46Z

That was certainly an interesting experience! Music was fun. Hit boxes on furniture were kinda weird to get around sometimes and the coin attack was a bit confusing and didn't seem to do anything. The mushroom effect was awesome if maybe a bit intense. Good job!

Life of the Party by Madbarron 2019-04-30T07:59:18Z

Fun little game! I didn't realize I was supposed to keep the yellow hearts for score so I just used all of them but it was fun seeing how fast I could make them shoot. Tried again and killed the knight and wizard and committed all the hearts to the archer and had a machine gun bow. Good job!

Blood Quest by shaner421 2019-05-10T06:04:26Z

Great job on this! Loved the art style! Movement felt smooth but it took me a minute to figure out how exactly the teleport worked. Maybe some sort of in-game tutorial or area you have to use that ability to get past might help teach that. Also maybe I'm a bit dense but I never figured out the puzzles but it didn't seem necessary to beat the game?I loved the feel of the fire attack. Once I got that it's all I used! Anyway great job!

Sacrifice by Dazzleisace 2019-04-30T21:46:38Z

For the limited amount of time you said you had this is a great start! I know you've got plenty you want to add to it so just a couple points. I think a text box explaining what each building does when you hover over it might be nice because I wasn't sure what to build at first, as well as showing the amount each meter will go up or down. Also it might feel better to have a system where meters are affected by other meters rather than just time, i.e. food goes down based on how many farms you have vs how many people you have. I'd love to see this again and be able to build up lots of monuments and followers! Good job again!

Acculting by Regoradin 2019-04-30T08:45:40Z

Interesting take on the theme! I understood the basic idea of buying low and selling high but beyond that I was not really sure what was happening. I enjoyed just trying to play the market but it wasn't clear what any of the buttons to the left were really doing. Solid idea though and with a bit more fleshing out it could be good!

Acculting by Regoradin 2019-04-30T22:56:47Z

@taylomol000 Ah ok that makes sense. It seemed to me like the lady in white just kept giving me followers and lowering my age so I just kept clicking her. Not sure if I missed something or was just cheating haha.

MeatScape by Lvl99Chicken 2019-05-01T03:01:27Z

Love it! great take on the theme. Got up to level 6 but it was taking a while after that. In an endless game like this I'd like to see some more enemy variety as the game goes on but I know that of course more enemies= more time to make them. you could even do something simple though like taking the fly you have and making a bigger version with a different color or something. But overall well executed for what it is. A couple times some flys got caught on each other and I just watched them dance in a circle XD. Anyway great job!

The Bloody Merchant by Lombax 2019-04-30T08:57:20Z

I think your idea is solid here but I think you need a bit more in game to explain what's going on. Moving forward I would add in a bit more tutorial to explain what happens when you accept or don't accept a deal. I thought the goal was to only accept offers that were above asking price but my blood points seemed to go up AND down when accepting offers above and below the price. A bit more tweaking and you'll have a good first game! The sound of them walking in was also really satisfying. Maybe just a bit of music in the background as well. Good job!

InstaLifePlus by VoidAerun 2019-04-30T08:10:49Z

Awesome job! Cool take on the theme. Only gripe I really had was it was a bit difficult on PC but I realize that not what it was designed for. First time through got a ton of followers then ended up dead. Caught him the second time though!

Invade Spacers by Sisyphean Games 2019-04-30T22:22:11Z

Fun little game! Good job! Played it for quite a while and really enjoyed it! I only wish it would keep going as long as you can survive so you can try out lots of different upgrade combos. After playing many rounds there were still ones that I never even saw like the three wide or three long shot. Couple bugs I noticed: -You can farm the upgrade screen for more lives. They just keep coming from and you can stack up lives to buy all the upgrades. -Upgrades can be clicked again by accident and wastes your lives. -Sometimes pressing space to fire while on the upgrade screen buys one them. Doing this can re-buy something you've already bought; again wasting your lives -I never beat the sphere boss but when I died to it it started the game from the start again with no "game over" screen.

Just minor things but I really enjoyed and wanted to keep playing! Great job again!

BetYourLife by JabbaScript 2019-04-30T22:39:19Z

Good execution of a fairly simple concept. Animation and sounds were good. Only thing I might add is some music. Well done.

LD45 — Start with nothing

wallpunch by Aurel300 2019-10-10T23:16:17Z

Wow this is pretty good! Lovely little pixel art and the sound was good as well. Only thing I found was that I could never get very far without dying. Some sort of feedback whether I am doing damage to enemies would be great and some sort of health pickup would be nice. I also often came across chests that I simply couldn't get to. It seems like you had a set of rooms that were randomly picked and a hall to them was generated when you punched the wall open and there were just certain tiles where the chest was inaccessible. Otherwise I loved it!

Fireflies Will Find My Bones by 0x01F0 2019-10-25T05:50:46Z

Very adorable little experience! I think most things have been said already but I'll give you my take on them. The art is beautiful and well done for its simple style. The audio is very lovely but a little repetitive. For footsteps you're just alternating between two tones of step. What we've done in the past is set it up so it's one sound that randomly gets pitched within a range every time it plays. That way each footfall feels unique and it doesn't drone on. I loved the music but it felt like it was looping a little too often. With a game like this I think you could get away with something like an ambient wind sound and have a few different piano riffs fade in and out and layer on each other somewhat at random to make the soundtrack always feel unique. Gameplay wise I think it lacked a little direction. I wandered to the edge and then went around the entire perimeter looking for anything before finally stumbling upon the camp. I like the singing mechanic and I think that you could use that to help guide the player. Maybe when you sing it sends out a little firefly in the general direction you need to go (probably on a cooldown to prevent spamming it, or maybe there are fireflies around the map you can pick up and use as charges for the ability? Just spitballing). That would also help with coming back because I almost lost the camp again after going to find the bones. Overall though good job. It seems like you guys are wanting to work on it postjam so definitely go for it! It's fun to polish up something when it's so close to being done. Anyway, good job!

Seedling by mechanicallife 2019-10-12T00:09:30Z

That was super cute and very well polished! The only thing I had trouble with was getting the downward plants to grow but it seems like other people got it to work so maybe I'm just bad. Anyway really good job!

Amnesiac Adventurer by justinooncx 2019-10-12T01:14:42Z

That was a really neat concept! The movement confused me for a second but then I understood what was happening. First time I just cruised through and got the bad ending but I went back and figured out each level properly. Level of difficulty felt just right for the number of levels and I could see this easily expanding to more levels. Overall Very well executed simple idea!

Asset Stream by aevek 2019-10-12T00:16:47Z

@ketura Thanks for the feedback! Sorry you couldn't get past that part. I know the wall running we implemented got a little weird in certain situations. I know we can all get developer blindness to little quirks in our projects and I think for that specific part if you turn the camera to look slightly more at the wall than parallel to it the wall running sticks more. Anyway, thanks for playing!

Wirm by bar0net 2019-10-29T19:05:57Z

Cute little entry! Overall all pretty well done for what it is. The only thing I found a bit off was that the screen shake when turrets hit a wall felt a bit weird. It looked more like the game was glitching. Other than that good job :)

Spam Space To Exist by Wheffle 2019-10-10T23:04:54Z

Fun little experience! I always love these grow and absorb enemy type of games. The only thing i really found myself wanting was knowledge of where I was. I think even a really simple little rectangle with a dot to show where you are in the playable space would be enough. I just found myself wandering around without encountering anything for long stretches. Otherwise I had a good time with this one! Great job!

Vicious Cycle by ryzy27 2019-10-12T00:38:30Z

Interesting entry. I understand you were going for more of a minimalist/ visual story type thing but a bit more interactivity would've been good. I think there was more game that I didn't get to but I got stuck on a black screen with a single alien letter on it? It seems like spacebar was the only key you can press and if that's not the case it wasn't obvious. As has been said in other comments more immediate feedback when you press a button would be nice. Didn't really feel like I was interacting with it at all. Great job on the art though!

Start 95 by kromeboy 2019-10-16T23:37:45Z

Love the take on the theme. Nice and simple game and well executed. I might just tweak a couple things. I would slow the speed at which things are falling. This would increase the play time without it feeling too long. This would also make it a bit easier to dodge the mines as you get heavier with more menu items. A good few times I got close to the last item or two and lost 2-3 in row because of how fast the mines came and I couldn't move away in time. On the note of heaviness. I think some sort of on screen indication of how you get slower as you get more items would help. I didn't really even notice until I was on the last item. Over though, well done!

P L A G U E T I M E by bruins 2019-10-08T17:40:45Z

Fun little project! Using the mouse to actually swing tools is an interesting mechanic but it felt like I had to be in a very specific spot relative to the thing I was trying to hit. Also I might limit each tool to only be able to break the resource it's related to (Hatchet = Tree, Pickace = stone, etc). When I discovered the axe could break everything I didn't really feel incentive to craft the other tools other than to just tick the boxes. Only other thing would be some sort of health indicator. Loved the style and music though, good job!

SIMFLUENCER by erebus 2019-10-10T22:51:31Z

Fun little experience! Loved the voice acting. Only a couple little things I'd say. I think if you had a little checklist of things to go find it would give a bit more incentive and at the same time allow you to open up the play area to a larger area. On the other hand you could just tell the player to find things and just give them a total number followers to get so you know when you're close to done. Overall good job!

Part Wars by mCohen 2019-10-12T00:24:40Z

Neat little project! Could definitely see this be easily expanded with a little more time. I did encounter a bug where a card was supposed to give me +3 defense on the first hit of each battle but instead it took away defense? Anyway good concept, good job.

Baryon Asymmetry by Flying Dog Fish 2019-10-10T22:49:31Z

Neat idea! I kind of understood what I was doing by the end and managed to get a couple different endings. I think a timer to indicate how long was left would be nice. I took a while for me to notice the white ring was moving out. Also I'm not sure what the solution would be, but trying to get the outcome I wanted was pretty difficult and found that I wound up with next to nothing most of the time. Very cute though!

Finished Raccoon Bikini Game by D5R 2019-10-16T23:03:46Z

This is very adorable and well polished. Great Job! Only a couple of critiques. I would make the hit boxes for items in the bottom bar bigger than the actual item. Playing with track pad I had a bit of difficulty grabbing the platforms when I had to be so exact. Also I might change the "Play" button to say "Stop" once you start a level. It took me accidentally pressing restart a few times to learn that the play button also stopped the level without resetting everything I placed. Other than that, really great job!

Drifter Mall by Sergio1811 2019-10-12T01:02:14Z

I see that this is your guys first Ludum Dare and first game jam so congratulations on getting out a finished product! Definitely keep doing it. My team did our first jam together about two years ago and it's such a great experience to hang with your friends and crank something out. Overall I think you guys did a pretty good job. As other people have said, the colliders on a few things like the shelves are a bit wonky. Also I wouldn't put the "Exit" button in the upgrade section. I learned not to press it after it closed the game once but when people see an exit button they tend to go straight to that to get out of a menu. I would instead put that in a different menu, say if you hit escape to pause it, then give people an option to exit. Animations were pretty good. The model on the title screen had some geometry issues and here was a bit of clipping on the cops clothing but again this is just a jam so things like that can happen. Just means you can do better next time! Good job guys!

Joe The Crafter by Benjo Games 2019-10-16T23:26:01Z

Good start here. I understand that you didn't quite finish and that's ok so I'll just judge what was here. I played the updated version and even though you said you upped player speed I still felt it was very slow. I'd like to be able run around and collect more things faster if I run out of something.

The two element crafting idea has been done many times so I think if you use a system like this there's certain quality of life things you have to do. I would add a dictionary of elements and allow the player to single click them into the crafting slot instead of dragging. Also I would allow the player to click on craftable elements/resources and it would autofill the recipe. It saves time and frustration. The dictionary would also alleviate having to remember all the recipes. If something takes two or three steps to craft I found I couldn't always remember what those steps were.

Lastly I would add in some sort of map either in a corner of the screen or that you could bring up with a button press. Would allow players to easily track back to where they found certain elements if they need more. Overall good start though. I know you want to take it farther so good luck with it!

War with Nothing by karrar home student 2019-10-16T23:54:41Z

Hey for your first game ever, you made it and you can play it and it ends which is more than some accomplish. That being said I think the major thing to take away from this is that adding a few small things can bump up a game a lot. Adding very simple audio (even if it's free stuff you didn't make, just opt out of that category) can give a huge boost. Hearing gunshots or hits or footsteps just adds to the world you're creating. The major thing was that the player didn't actually die, which makes the whole thing moot. There's no incentive to avoid anything; no challenge. You definitely have to make sure your core gameplay loop is there and works, then move onto other stuff.

Keep going though, keep making games and you'll get better.

Also KEEP RATING GAMES!!! If you want to be eligible for a score at the end you HAVE to go play and rate lots of others here. You've still got a little under two weeks to get there, but at this point it will take some work. Good luck!

Day Zero by Emma B 2019-10-10T23:24:37Z

Very well done and seems like you achieved what you set out to. Nice and simple not really any major criticisms. I think I extra won by getting 21/20 somehow. Good job!

LD46 — Keep it alive

Pro Fishing: The Fishing Mini-Game Game by gentoogames 2020-04-23T02:19:01Z

This was really great and very well polished for a jam. The only issue I had was I think the beginning could tutorialize mechanics a bit better and the prices could be a bit higher to progress faster. But overall the aesthetic is on point!

Meeple Machine Factory by Micito 2020-04-23T04:56:52Z

Nice little attempt for the compo! Right off the bat I would say scale the UI elements up a bit because I HAD to fullscreen the game to be able to read the text on the wheels. I was a bit confused by the description of the game because you say "sit back and watch the meeple work" but they don't just keep working; you have to tell them too do another task every time they complete one. Animations were good and cute. I found that I can left click select things other than the person, but since the point is to select the people and tell them what to do with right click menus being able to select other things is pointless and wastes time if you're trying to manage all the components. If you were to expand this with more levels and more meeples I think there would need to be some sort of automation where you tell someone to do something and they keep doing it because I found it quite tedious to have to go into a menu that was sometimes at least three clicks deep when there's other things that also need attention and as the levels get bigger I can see that just getting to be too much very quickly. Good job though and keep working and making great things!

The Ludum Dare Flame 🔥 by tobiasw 2020-04-23T02:44:25Z

Really great idea! With a few more features/mechanics I could see this becoming a perpetual online game like Universal Paperclips or A Dark Room.

Whalestrom by aevek 2020-04-23T06:27:32Z

@jake-marks Thanks for playing it! It's always great to actually see people play it to analyze gameplay. The team is working on a post-jam version where we're tweaking the controls and the whole resource/upgrade system. But more feedback is always great!

OVERHOSPITALIZED by Stacka 2020-04-23T03:16:02Z

This was really great! What you have is already quite well fleshed out and polished so I can see this expanding quite well! Possibly a levels based system where you have to cure "x" number before moving onto the next level, having different hospital layouts the get harder and harder, combination diseases later on? Idk lots of ideas but this base is great! The only issue I had was that I cured too many people too fast and the cured patients were filling up and blocking the exit and flooding into the hospital blocking me sometimes. If you guys are tracking highscores I managed to clear 112 patients. Great work!

Keepin' Alive! by sofibab 2020-04-23T01:48:46Z

Haha well that was certainly something. Good base and I think if you added something simple like having to type in time to the music it could be a fun typing game

Fly Zone by Kodiqi 2020-04-23T01:46:40Z

Great! You took a really simple idea and executed it very well! It achieved just the right level of frustration and then pay off. Overall great work.

Frozen Skies by ThorPalsson 2020-04-23T01:43:37Z

This is awesome guys! I spent so long playing it and started over 4 times until I finally beat it. Overall really great job. The mood is set really well by the lighting and the music. I think the ambient light could be cranked up just slightly so the nighttime isn't pitch black. I know you said you guys are updating it so @ me when you do, but as it stands it is just barely possible to beat the game. after a few tries I fed the fire as little as I could and just barely had enough resources to build the final bridge. On a personal note, I found the lore notes a bit hard to read. Great work and excited to see where it goes!

El Burritón by JakNak72 2020-04-23T01:52:44Z

This was awesome and I could see this being some sort of competitive esport. Sometimes you get lucky and have easy to reach keys for the fridges, but sometimes not and it just makes it utter chaos. My highscore was 12. Great work!

ALL CAPS: The Incident at Puppy Canyon by KyMakesGames 2020-04-23T03:07:42Z

Great work! I'm not the best at typing so I couldn't get very far but it looks nice and was executed well! I would have liked to see some sort of progression as I defeat bandits, like moving to the next train car because it just feels like I'd be typing forever. Anyway, great job!

Milk Dungeon by Kyle Bowman 2020-04-23T04:22:06Z

Quite funny little entry. Voice acting was great! Took me a bit to understand what was going on but I got it in the end. I know that the milk spills slow you down but I found that jumping over them instead was faster than switching out for the mop and then switching back to the hammer. But I had a good time and had some laughs

Seven by zc74560 2020-04-23T03:18:17Z

Clever little game and definitely made me think. Not much to say that hasn't been said already. You had a simple idea and executed it well. Good Job!

Silence, Please!!! by fiwon123 2020-04-23T03:00:28Z

Neat little experience! Good Job! The only confusing thing to me was that the map was on a cube. I think it would have been easier to understand if the screens were just a grid with a border around the outer areas. Also it might have been just a touch more interesting if each person needed a specific note and they gave you some sort of hint as to which one. Anyway, great work!

Burning Love by HelmiSetsuna 2020-04-23T05:00:33Z

Good job here! The gameplay was a little simplistic but it seems you achieved what you set out to so good job for that. That graphics are quite nice as well!

The Abomination by vano 2020-04-23T04:33:36Z

Great job for this being your first game jam! Had a fun time with it. The main issues I had were the amount of camera movement and overall floatyness of the controller, which I see that you patched in an updated version, so good job with that. I know that I could combine things to make better things but to me it seemed like most of what I created was already in abundance throughout the level so it felt kind of pointless making those things. Maybe more of the items could create things that aren't already in the level (i.e. the two microscopes combining to the super microscope). I found that the super microscope seemed to keep it alive for a while so I ended up just gathering all the microscopes and only using those. Maybe once you craft two items together it tells you how much life it gives the abomination to encourage players to try to combine more items to find the best combo. Other than that great work and keep making games!

Node Colony by gmaanicus 2020-04-23T03:03:27Z

Cool idea! I can see this easily being fleshed out into more of a Creeper World type game. I think I encountered a bug where I took over an enemy node but I didn't get it and it kept spawning enemies even though it was part of my network. Also, just some little text pop ups explaining what each unit does would go a long way to decreasing the entry difficulty. Otherwise, great work!

Looking for Group by pandepic 2020-04-23T06:11:52Z

Fun little experience! The main thing I would say is that the UI is a little basic and a bit hard to understand what's happening. If there was some sort of indicator when I hover over each person to see who I'm about to select would be great. All the hand drawn art was amazing! Great job!

TimeSlayer TM by GoblinQueen 2020-04-23T04:25:24Z

This was great! While I don't relate to the sibling rivalry being an only child I definitely relate to the trying too play the game as streetlights pass by (except this kid has a fancy machine that backlights lol). Anyway, I saw you ended up with quite limited time and it's quite impressive that you managed to pull off this level of polish in that time. Great job!

Soulbond by JazzatheFOSS 2020-04-23T05:06:29Z

For what is here you guys did a really great job! The movement feels good and the mechanic of leaving your soul and pulling it back through platforms and doors was really cool. My only issue was that the purple block sprite you used was sometimes used as a background image but sometimes used as a platform to climb on and that could get confusing for players. I would either use a different sprite or make the color of it darker when it's in the background. Other than that great job and keep working on it!

Survivalgo by despdair2 2020-04-23T06:37:28Z

This is very neat and it seems like it could be a fun puzzle game with more levels. The only thing I wish I had was a button to restart the level without getting rid of my input and a way to backspace or delete certain inputs. That way I can more easily trial and error to see what works. Good job!

LD47 — Stuck in a loop

Build a Bridge by TimBeaudet 2020-10-15T02:56:07Z

Good job on the custom engine. I think you could really punch it up with a few small things like generic background music. A couple things Ii found were that there was really no incentive to go around rather than collecting the materials and going back. Also the camera was kinda all over the place and made the car more difficult to control. If the camera was a bit more steady I think it'd be easier and more fun to get in the zone with drifting through the course.

Stuck In Paris by CocaPasteque 2020-10-14T02:05:39Z

Fun entry to the jam! Nice an simple idea well executed. I tried my best to get to level 20 to no avail. As far as gameplay goes Ii found myself wanting a more smooth throttle adjustment rather than set tiers of speed. And for sound design, simply pitching a sound up or down a bit would get you a lot more variety in things like car horns. Good work overall!

Stuck in a drum loop by rodobodolfo 2020-10-14T02:29:21Z

Interesting idea! I really wanted to get all of the beats but found it almost impossible. By the time you have 3 or 4 pieces you start having to shoot gaps 1 wide at high tempos. Also I found a bug when trying to use the sandbox. I noticed normally the beat increases by 7 each time, but when you enter a custom BPM it just tacks a 7 on the end. So 50 becomes 507 becomes 5077. Anyway, good job!

The Cult of the Broken Clock by ectucker1 2020-10-14T03:28:49Z

Nice entry! The only thing I really found myself wanting was some way to know how many times I had gone around. I know each time you pas 12 you get the chimes, but the sound they make was too similar to other sounds and I didn't even notice it til they hit 5. I think maybe you could have an hour hand on the inner circle? Also II found myself not really using roll or block and just running around. So maybe another pass at enemy design would help? Different types or enemies or obstacles that force you to react in certain ways. Anyway, good job!

Purgatory is a Music Store by MattWoelk 2020-10-14T02:02:10Z

Quite a unique entry. The art was very beautiful and the music was wonderful but felt to be lacking in gameplay a bit. I get the point was to just noodle around on the instruments but Ii found it all a bit confusing. Did the dialogue and music start playing after I hit a certain sequence of notes? or just a certain number? Anyway I know you just wanted to make a fun space to play along to these songs and you did a good job of matching the scales to fit in with each song. Good job!

BØNE LOOP by Disco_Pope 2020-10-15T04:06:05Z

Love it! Great art direction and sounds. For the sounds to get just a touch more variety you can just pitch up or down a sound randomly every time it plays so it doesn't seem like it's just one sound repeating. Also The most damage I took was from enemy mages targeting me through walls and fireballs coming in from the next car. You definitely have something here though. Being able to see the cars way down the line made me want to get all the way around. I can see adding a lot to this and making something like a rougelike, finding new spells and artifacts along the way. And maybe on the exact opposite side there's a boss to fight? Anyway really love it and would love to see more done with it

Stuck In Space (Twitch IRC Chat Game) by DanielLeeMeeks 2020-10-16T09:17:05Z

Interesting idea. I think the main problem is you need to be quite precise in order to pickup bits and land on planets. This might work better if everything was on a grid and you put in exact number of grid spaces to move and you were competing with others to grab up bits before them. but with the twitch delay it's almost impossible. Always fun to see new things tried out for twitch games though!

SnakeLoops by datadazer 2020-10-14T03:18:17Z

Good job! I've never played snake pass but this seems like a good recreation of that idea! The one thing I think I might add is some way to increase or decrease your friction because I found myself struggling to pull up after wrapping around something. Overall good work!

The Daily Grind by meadjix 2020-10-16T07:44:05Z

Good job! Personally I think it would've been better to stick with one setting and build on concepts there. As it is it kind of feels like 3 separate ideas. Also more interim levels would be good where you teach a new function to players in a controlled environment where you know they have to use it and they will learn it. I honestly gave up in the third level because the scope increased so much and you added a quite complex function without any tutorialization. But I know how jams go and tutorials tend to be one of those things you put off until the end. We've learned over several jams that tutorializing is best done as you go so you have something to build on. Anyway, good job!

Astrolo-fi by Blix 2020-10-16T08:00:06Z

Good job! I can picture playing multiple levels and having small goals (like star number) and still keeping it chill. Only bug I found was music tracks would restart and play over each other after alt+tabbing out and back in. Other than that, great job!

Loop Back to the Future by Lex 2020-10-15T02:28:06Z

Very interesting idea. The only major criticism I have is that maybe a different camera would've been nice. I think a traditional 3rd person cam could work here. II just found the last level much more difficult because I was unable to judge timing as well based on certain angles. Anyway great job!

Loop Back to the Future by Lex 2020-10-18T20:20:34Z

@lex Oh cool. I see the on screen prompt now, I'm just dumb haha. Just played again with that camera and that felt much better. One note on it though, it could be a touch higher and angled down to the car to give a little more aerial view rather than directly behind the car to allow a player to take in a bit more of the track. Every game needs a unique camera for different circumstances. We also made a driving game and our camera is quite high because we needed the player to see a lot of the track. You wouldn't need to go quite as high but just enough to see a bit more. Sorry for the rant lol :)

Once More, Dear Friends by GibsS 2020-10-16T06:59:36Z

Great job! Would've loved some fast paced music and skittering noises for the bugs to make. Also some sort of indications on how many clones/loops there can be at one time would be nice. I think there could only be like 6 or 7 at a time? Overall solid job

Rhythm Step by Thulium Games 2020-10-16T07:18:56Z

Solid art and audio. Love the synthwave aesthetic (probably because we went there too). I'm not exceptional at puzzle games but a game like this felt like there was an optimal route to learn and enter that in to get to the end in one go. But I think you designed it so you needed to edit your input partway through a level? I think I got to level 3 and couldn't get past. As others have said the time to enter your choices was way to short. I think you could have the music just vamp on 8 bars and then once your ready hit a go button and it initiates your sequence in the next available window.

Also someone else mentioned it but I'm not sure why you made the game install? I almost didn't play because I was a bit sketched out. In the future, just take the files that the build gives you and zip it up and upload the zip to itch or what not. Then people can just unzip and launch the exe directly.

Spirit Journey by theStoff 2020-10-15T02:03:43Z

Beautiful entry to the jam! The art and music was so well done! and puzzles difficulty curve felt just right to me. I didn't feel that the last room was as hard as some people think, but everyone is at different levels. The only thing I would say is that you should probably tell more explicitly what the "quick die" key is. Also I wish there was a way to hard reset a level and break all statues at once if you mess up. Overall wonderful job!

...And again, dont steal from dead pharaons by ZMVL 2020-10-15T02:25:27Z

Very well done! Absolutely nailed the theme. I can easily see this expanded out into more of an open world with lofty goals in the millions and all sorts of puzzles and areas to explore. Well done!

Divine Drifter by Enzar17 2020-10-10T01:13:28Z

@shelvid Thanks for playing! We had a great time watching you play. We're continuing work on this so there should be more levels with more road blocks, cones, and other fun stuff! So keep an eye on our Itch page for updates!

Loopamonium by Unimaginable_Code_Studios 2020-10-15T03:22:19Z

Very excellent. You're on your way to a future in game design. I definitely picked up on the Thomas Was Alone vibes (if that's what you were going for. If not go play that game!) As far as level design goes, it's getting there and Ii understand you were going for the idea that you have to trust that what you're doing is accomplishing something but gamers can be fickle. I would add some sort of indication that after a certain number of resets something changes. Anyway, great job!

Demobius Derby by Alasdair Hitchen 2020-10-15T03:06:00Z

Neat idea for a racing game! Ii had most of the same issues as other people in regards to handling. It felt like you somehow tied the turn rate to your speed so the faster you go the faster you turn. But this led to me tapping turn and slamming into the wall next to me. Also the AI seemed to confuse itself quite a bit but great for you to get racing AIs in.

Commuter by Aran Ink 2020-10-14T02:17:36Z

Good job here! Really solid base. I wish there was some way to see my previous scores recorded somewhere though. Also, when the rounds and goal times are so short I never really found any reason to take time to use the spikes rather than blowing them off the level.

The Well Of Reality by Okean 2020-10-15T03:43:02Z

Cool idea. As others have said sensitivity is WAY too high. I also would've liked some sort of hint or indicator that I was getting close. I ended up giving up after about 10 minutes of trying and many visits to hell. good job though!

Dance! Dance! Dance! Dance! Never-ending! by Egan Henderson 2020-10-18T07:48:30Z

Good work. Not much to add that others haven't said. It'd be nice to have the arrows be in time with the music. Also with it being endless, after a certain point people will just lose interest if nothing changes. Simply speeding up the song slowly over time or after each time it loops could add a bit of challenge to make it more interesting.

Looper by Anguss 2020-10-18T20:50:14Z

Nice little casual game. Could easily be a little mobile game. Nothing much to add that hasn't been said. Like others I was often confused by which button to press to go in/out. Could possibly be solved by the player being static on the left or right of the loop and the obstacles spinning around. That way the direction of going in or out would always be the same.

LD48 — Deeper and deeper

Masseuse you Loose by ColeSlaughter 2021-05-10T07:04:44Z

Little late leaving my comment on this one, but great job once again! Audio and Visuals were absolutely great! Very nicely done tutorial that doesn't rely purely on text saying what to do. Only minor issue I had was that it was a touch hard to pinpoint exactly where the hand needed to be to start each massage. Other than that, I'd love to se my score say "SS" but alas I am but a massaging novice.

DRYVER by GuitarBro 2021-05-10T08:39:12Z

Had a pretty good time with this one. Just a few things to say about it. The mouse control was WAY too sensitive for the looking and I would have liked to be able to tilt the camera as well as rotate. I did beat the game without turning on god mode, but personally I found that the most fun part of this game was zooming around and doing jumps off the dunes to the sweet music ( I also appreciated how the music got louder and more intense the faster you went). That said I felt the energy system wasn't really needed. Since you can only carry one piece at a time, you have to return to the ship every time anyway, so there's not really any point in preventing the player from freely exploring the desert. It also took away some immersion in the world having the charge stations at each location made it felt like someone deliberately took these pieces out to these locations. If there was no energy system you would not need the charge stations which would make it feel more like the pieces of the ship got scattered into the desert. In regards to the movement, it was very enjoyable! But the decrease of acceleration going up hills was WAY too much and made it actually impossible to go up some hills(notably you cannot exit one side of the 4 section big pillar because it is just too steep. Like I said before, my favorite part was just zooming around so I wanted to be able to build up more speed and not have to worry about these big hills in my way as much. You could still have a bit of speed decrease just not as much. Other note would be some sort of display to show if I am carrying anything and what I am carrying. Other than that, good job!

Autumn Hike by Brusi 2021-05-10T06:58:34Z

That was extremely cute! I though I understood the gimmick after leaving the shell and coming back in so continuing deeper into the new levels was a great surprise! I would gladly play much more of this. Only issue I had was the audio was a bit crackly but that may have been my headphones. Only other thing I would have changed would be to bind movement to WASD as well as arrows, just so people have the option of which to use.

Derpy Deep Drive by Extrone 2021-05-04T03:13:39Z

Fun little experience. Nicely polished main menu. As others have said the camera could be a bit farther back and maybe rotate around a slightly different point to be able to see what's ahead a bit more. It felt kind of bad to drive over a hill without knowing what's there and be punished with 3 hits that I could do nothing to avoid.

Curiosity by Bodaciouslycrazy 2021-05-03T02:20:09Z

Good job on this! Simple and well executed. As others have said it seems like with the pressure of the storm coming down the best play is to use double drills and ignore the enemies. I get that the rocket power was meant to give you the ability to go down faster but the fall speed is already fairly quick so it kinda felt unnecessary. Same goes for the gun power. If the time you had to get down was a bit longer and maybe there was some incentive for killing the enemies rather than dodging them? Otherwise the art was well done and it plays well!

Ski Trip by Rhoka 2021-04-28T17:35:00Z

@raptor851 Thanks for playing and glad you enjoyed it! Sorry you had some trouble with the beginning part. We had very little gameplay testing and you always get really good at your own game so it's always difficult to balance what you think is easy or hard with what a new player experiences. AS to your concern about invisible walls, we had a lot of assets to create and keep track of and some of the hit boxes didn't always align perfectly. I tried to make them as close as possible in the time we had. Thanks again for trying it out! :)

Deeper and Deeper a Self Care Journey by saoi-games 2021-05-03T02:26:22Z

Interesting idea! quite a departure from the usual LD games but kind of a nice break. I think maybe having a bit more of a background ambient track like nature of ocean waves might be good to help set the mood as well as the music. Good job!

loading... by PopDaddyGames 2021-05-06T04:14:43Z

This was quite interesting. Right off the bat I was amazed by the beautiful visuals that you achieved. one of the better looking space games I've seen. That said the jittery effect that you overlay that is very prevalent on the helmet geo an UI was a bit much and a touch annoying at times. It took me a while to figure out the controls. Partly my fault because I skipped over that section of text and also I never tried pausing the game til I was quite a ways into it. After I discover the IJKL and UO controls it got easier, though not entirely. It took me a good while to understand if controls like "J: were turning me IN that direction or AWAY from that direction. Like others have said, some sort of visual feedback on that would be extremely helpful. I know that there is the little spinning hologram but it was hard to tell where that was oriented. Off the top of my head maybe some sort of overlay on the helmet screen with up and down and side to side degrees oriented to the orbital plane might help.

After getting situated I finally started my journey towards the station. Or at least I was pretty sure that was where I was supposed to go. Because you have other planets so large in the sky I was starting to go towards one of those before I saw the station and if I had continued would have missed the entire game. The audio clips were a very nice touch though the voice lines were a touch loud I think. The station indicator I was confused by. It only ever lit up the third light so I'm not entirely sure what the purpose of it was. As I progressed to the station I slowly figured out what each number on my HUD meant. Although at this point it was very slow going. Speeding up a bit, waiting for O2 to refill, speeding up, waiting. I think you could have decreased the scale of the solar system by 50-75% and you would get a similar experience. It just started to drag on too much. And then when I was finally nearing the station I hit the blind part. I still hadnt really mastered the controls so being blind and not entirely understand which controls manipulated which vectors in which direction was just too confusing so unfortunately I gave up here after fumbling around for about 5 minutes.

Also with regards to the theme. I know we don't always have to follow the theme specifically and it can be interpreted so I don't judge too harshly for that. I saw you said something about how most of the players will just float deeper and deeper into space and not experience one of the endings, and I would just like to provide a bit of criticism that that may not be the best play, especially in an event like this. You have maybe 5 minutes to capture someone's attention and then another 10-15 to have them experience you're game. having "most" players just drift off and experience nothing for 10-20 minutes feels a bit bad when we have so many other games to play and rate. Just my personal feeling on that.

I write all this though because it was overall a good experience and with a bit more polish and clarity could be really fun to master this type of space movement and gameplay. Good job! (and sorry for the wall of text lol)

Dig World by kuviman 2021-05-10T07:10:17Z

Wonderful job! Hopped on with the Coleslawski stream crew and had a great time jumpin around. With the leaderboard system it would've been neat to have some more types of ores or valuables the deeper you go to incentivize that, but you got a networked multiplayer game made in a weekend so that's pretty impressive!

TAILSPIN! by Saturnyoshi 2021-05-11T07:31:12Z

Wow. That was genuinely one of my favorite experiences this jam. I just spent the last 2 and a half hours playing through and 100%-ing this. It was absolutely wonderful and perfectly captured me with the right balance of difficulty with some really cool mechanics. When you finally nail that section that you've been banging you're head against for the last 20 minutes it feels so good and reminds me a lot of a game "1001 Spikes". If you told me I just paid money for that experience I would believe you. Really not much to say and critique here. I have tried for about 20 minutes to think of any criticisms but have almost nothing. Only minor thing I found myself wanting was a quick restart button to take me back to the current checkpoint. Even though death is not often more than a few seconds away or through the pause menu, a button like "R" to cause instant reset would feel a lot better I think when I know I've messed something up and need to go back. Other than that absolute banger job! I'll be following you lot to watch what you make (hopefully more levels to this game...?) Also here's my trophies! It was very satisfying to finally get them all!

MilCo. by MikoziQ 2021-05-03T02:11:58Z

Nice job. Simple but well done art. I too have achieved a cow mountain. Almost got to 2000 cows before they covered the buy button. Gameplay was pretty easy though. I only connected like 3 houses and then bought cows until income was >100 per tick and then it flew through the rest of the game. So balancing the economy of it would be the main point to improve on. I had a decent time with it though! MIL Co.png

Crust by exopunk 2021-05-10T07:29:58Z

Great job on this! Audio and visuals are all fantastic! As we discovered in our game too, the addition of collectibles is always a nice touch to give the player a bit more "game" to play, and it definitey works! After seeing some other people play this I made it a point to go discover all the collectibles. Some of them were tricky to find but I made it! Not really anything else to add!Crust.png

Mine Shaft by Krzyhau 2021-05-10T07:50:06Z

Very neat idea! I absolutely loved the random note from a scale when breaking the blocks and I just wanted to keep smashing a bunch of them. I know you highlight the block in red when it is selected but even just adding a dot in the center of the screen would help a lot with the understanding of exactly what I'm looking at, especially when a mis-click can kill you. I like to think I'm fairly decent at minesweeper, but I found in these circumstances it was quite difficult and I never felt like I really had enough information to be sure about which block to break. I admit, on the third shaft I just said f__k it and dug straight down through hoping I would not hit 3 bombs. Died once but actually made it though on the second attempt so I know I didn't *really* earn my victory. But nonetheless I did enjoy your ending!

Also...

...**nice**.

Low Notes by mhorth 2021-05-10T07:26:21Z

Love me a good rhythm game! The interpretation of the theme was quite nice here. Only thing I would add to it would be some sort of calibration. Most games like this have something to calibrate input timing so there's plenty of inspo to draw from. Personally I found the notes to be a bit slow compared to the music (especially on Mega) so I had to anticipate the notes and hit the keys a bit earlier than the music. Otherwise good job and good improvements to the post jam version. I'm a sucker for neon glowy things

Chain Reactor by sanojian 2021-10-12T05:46:14Z

Interesting idea. I always like games about mixing different things to make other things toward some goal. But in this case it would be helpful if the goal was more clear. I didn't see anywhere where it says a certain power to get to and the table for mixing elements is hard to read and mixing them in the tank just felt a bit too random. I think if you clarified the goals of the game a bit better and there was a different way to mix the chemicals that had a bit more control this could be great! Thanks for the submission!

YuraYura! - Tidying up the tilting tower! by Cornflowerblue 2021-10-12T05:34:48Z

Great entry! I don't know how you had the time to make all those animations for the character but good job. The visuals look really great! Most of the levels felt like just the right amount of difficulty, except the Jump! one. The big pounding rabbits felt like if they got in more than 1 hit you were done and with everything else going on it was almost impossible to get to them in time. I also found I was never really using the ground pound because it didn't really feel like it had any effect.

Horsey Computer by Apple Dash 2021-10-12T06:34:27Z

A wonderfully weird experience and while I would have very much enjoyed more there is something strangely poetic about ending where it did, especially for a jam game. The changes in game type, art style, and story all gave me such whiplash from scene to scene I nearly forgot about about the previous one almost instantly, but I can see a version of this where you keep diving deeper into this breakdown of the game and slowly solve all the problems and puzzles and eventually come back out and tell your horsey friend what was on the other side of that door (and they wouldn't believe you obviously) Anyway, great job!

EDIT: Also maybe in the future if you do something like this, dont show everything you've got in the screenshots, leave some to discover!

Horse with a Human Mask on A Tightrope by jefvel 2021-10-12T03:28:05Z

Fantastic entry! As has been said before the controls are challenging but you get used to them. Though I did find that doing so much clicking did start to cramp my hand so maybe having the option to also use A/D of Left/Right arrow keys for leaning and the mouse for jumping and attacking would be better to ease the stress between both hands. Super fun, though I didn't end up managing to beat the boss I still had a great time.

Tilted Chicken Game by RAC-Games 2021-10-12T03:36:11Z

Quite funny entry. Not sure if I was missing something, but it felt nigh on impossible to carry more than 2 eggs for any amount of time. you just accelerate too quickly and they go flying no matter what. It was also a bit strange to me that you teach the player to go under shelves but that knocks eggs off. other than that some good fun. I think I hit a crash though after the third level. I got a level end screen but it didn't give a score and I couldn't click the next arrow

Karawan by Rongo Matane 2021-10-06T08:08:59Z

Really wonderful and interesting entry! If there were more worlds to play I would definitely be interested in playing it more! I totally understand scoping things for the time frame of the jam, but I feel like it could be a bit more interesting if the world collapsed behind you slower so you had a bit more time to explore and plan your journey. I wanted to see things like upgrading the wagons more, but as others have said trying to go for that hinders your production of wood/food too much to allow the miner to join you. Maybe if I also had a map from the start that just showed what I explored and where the crumbling is at so far and then I could see more if I buy it from a village. I also had kind of a hard time understanding exactly what I was looking at as far as the map is concerned. As I said I enjoyed the exploring a bit more so I found the first level more enjoyable. The second world was still good but after failing it several times it felt like you designed it so you had to make a specific set of moves in order to make it exactly to the portal. To me that felt like it took a bit of the exploration out of it. I understand you were trying to put on the pressure a bit to keep moving, but if there had been a few more viable routes it would have allowed for a bit more experimentation and player agency. Overall great entry and would love to so more of it!

Fuse by C1FR1 2021-10-19T04:00:25Z

Interesting entry! The fire effect looks quite good, but it is exceptionally difficult. Dashing in the direction of the mouse rather than the direction I was moving felt a bit strange. The enemies that constantly spit water drops in circular patterns were pretty hard to see against the wood texture and some of them were just invisible? And having to kill every enemy below the hydrants proved near impossible as the floor burns away so fast and there are more enemies to dodge up ahead already. I think this could be quite fun with some difficulty tuning, but that's LD for you! Good job!

Bitrunner by TimeLoad 2021-10-19T03:02:07Z

Good job. I know you ran out of time to add the things that you wanted but I've always found it helpful when you don't have enough time to add the things you want, really polish and punch up what you do have. I.E. a simple little chiptune playing in the background would really keep the energy going and make you want to go for a highscore. got to 59 and then died.

Faultline Farm 🐷 by Dazzumbledor 2021-10-12T05:58:02Z

Very adorable art style and the music was quite fun to listen to. A couple notes I had. The pigs I could easily tell which way was down but the cows feet blended in to them too much making them a bit more difficult to orient correctly. Also the ability to move animals would be nice rather than just pick up and rotate them. Often I would put them down and instantly be knocked over again by one directly next to it. I'm also not sure what the bells did? I won the first time without using them and then went back again but they seem to just slow everything for a split second? Didn't really seem useful to me. Anyway, good job!

Pinfall by geist_191 2021-10-12T04:58:53Z

Very well polished entry. Looks good and sounds great! It was a little infuriating because it felt more luck based than anything. Maybe if I could just move the camera up just a touch to plan my next shot better? Also due to the randomness, luckily I did not hit one of the arrows down the last chute that sends you back to the beginning, but if I did, seeing as I had no control whether I did or not I probably would not have attempted it again. good job though!

AFTER SUN by rufson 2021-10-07T07:56:32Z

Great job here! Loved all the attention to detail. I got a bit too confident after a successful first full load and blew up everyone else. I liked that you have to be careful about where you were flying in atmosphere or you would burn people as I did when I tried to go to a new platform so I wouldn't have to walk as far. The flying felt really good however the space stations felt a bit too punishing. I know you're going for a dark tone, but when they come out of nowhere with no warning and you're done in 1 hit it feels a bit bad. Also I did get a bit dizzy walking around the circle of the moon delivering people because the radius was so tight. Last note I had was that the audio is a bit too loud in some places. It was fine for the most part but the end sequence was far too loud and I already had my headphones pretty low. Other than that really great job and really great pixel art!

Quadruple trouble by gerrrard 2021-10-12T06:10:02Z

Good job! As others have said the info dump at the start can be a bit much and while reading it I would suggest you pause the game until all the tutorials are done. I had to reload the game the first time because I practically lost after I was done reading. I was able to understand the different panels fairly well. The temperature was a bit confusing so I just flicked the levers until I saw the green and put the meter at the right spot so I don't think it was needed to explain the numbers happening behind the scenes, especially when you don't have a target number anywhere. The sine wave was a bit finicky and maybe having the display glow when you were close enough would help? Also I never got a green bar for the sine section so not sure if it actually did anything? other than I won on my second go round. good job!

A Hard Pill to Swallow by osh.studio 2021-10-12T05:09:46Z

Good job. Love the audio and the simple visuals are nice. Going for this golf style game though I feel like getting the feeling of it just right is super important. There seems to be a lot of drag being applied to the acceleration and going full power shoots through the drag but doing anything less than half does almost nothing. this also cause unpredictability in medium power shots as I would think my shot was going to go a certain distance based on other shots, but would then start to slow down and drop. Other than that good job

Magic Miner by m_mae 2021-10-19T03:52:15Z

Good job! I know you tend to see a lot of similar games in LD but this was strangely similar to ours in concept. The art was very well done for what's there and I loved the rock dog monsters. It's not entirely clear that the top bar is the boss health and not your own at first. Also I'm not sure if the two different spells had different effects but I found myself mainly using just the fireball. The end of the fight was quite hard and chaotic but I made it through. It seemed like the boss fell apart but I had to fire one more shot at where it was and then I won the game? Anyway great job!

RoughTrain by Dogez 2021-10-12T03:45:46Z

Looks like it might be your first entry into LD, so good job on making a submission! As a couple of other people have mentioned though, it seems like most, if not all visual assets in the game are from asset packs (which isn't a bad thing! If using pre-made assets allows you to make your game, go for it that's what they're for!) just please opt out of being graded in the graphics category. You did a great job kit-bashing them together, but as someone that put a lot of hard work into making everything from scratch it feels a bit bad when being judged against pre-made assets, and it seems not everyone realizes they were not made over the weekend. The audio can also be a grey area and it's always up to you to decide if you feel you should be rated in it. You do the voice acting but other sounds and music were used. Just something to think about in the future! Sorry, end of rant. :)

Other than that it seems like you had a clear goal in mind and you achieved it! The voice acting was great and funny at moments and the mood was good.

LD50 — Delay the inevitable

STONEHOLD by teamscripta 2022-04-07T04:28:49Z

Really fun entry and a leaderboard always draws me in. I had an enjoyable time with it, but I soon found that I could kite around the enemies and lump them into a big ball and hit them all at once making pretty much every floor trivial. I did seem to get the game into a bugged state for me though. On Floor 14 I randomly got reset to the beginning. It didn't say I died, the game just reset and my health still stayed at half like it was when I was still on 14. for some reason I can't use the ultimate ability anymore. And closing the game and re-opening does not seem to fix it. I also wasn't exactly sure what purpose playing through other peoples dungeons provided? would I get to the end of theirs? Lastly, the dodge felt like it had a bit of a delay on it so I had to use it a bit preemptively Otherwise great entry!

Aloft by ColeSlaughter 2022-04-07T04:45:33Z

Wonderful entry as always! The art if beautiful and the balloon physics feel really nice. As always love competing for a good leaderboard. My one gripe is that in the Marathon mode the next level start right away and you have to almost anticipate what level you're going into and which direction you have to go for that. I wonder if like the regular levels, you could just pause the timer until you press all the keys in order to give a second to breath and take in the level again. Otherwise fantastic job!

The Last Patrol by WilloXs 2022-04-07T05:01:22Z

Interesting entry! Controls were a bit hard but I sort of got it after a bit. It's always hard to nail down ship fighting to feel good and you did a pretty good job with it. I wish the ships would have had health bars or some indicator of health as well as a cooldown indicator for weapons. I also like the idea of having each of the different ships in your squad be your "life counter" and it was neat that they all had different firing patterns. perhaps a neat idea would be the ability to switch between fighters to fight different types of enemies? Otherwise good entry!

Extremely Exteme Sports by kuviman 2022-04-20T06:47:59Z

Wonderful job as always! How you always manage to make a multiplayer game that's fun in the jam time still baffles me. I was pretty bad at the game but I still had a fun time with it! Thanks for the entry!

Re: Placement by Outfrost 2022-04-20T06:38:24Z

Very fun entry, you lot always make a good game! The robot opponent was fun to watch work while I scrambled putting them together. The voice lines were amazing. I appreciate you putting in my highscore with my weird joysticks only strat, it was fun trying to get as far as I could with minimal effort, but the boss found out eventually lol. As others have said it would be nice to be able to look at the board a little bit closer to be able to tell the notches apart better, perhaps color coding too? Anyway, great entry!

Sandwich Drop by Renge 2022-04-20T06:55:42Z

Nice entry! Overall I had a pretty good time with it. The intro and cutscenes were funny but I think they could be cut a bit shorter or just allow the player to progress it forward with a click so everyone can read at their own pace and not be stuck waiting or missing things. Controlling the character felt nice, though I didn't realize I could move the camera for a while and kept missing things because they would happen off screen. I think this game could work well with a fixed somewhat Isometric cam and cut away walls where they would get in the way. Once I started moving the camera the platforming got a bit harder because of the floaty-ness of the character. For some reason it felt better to me to control from a fixed cam but maybe I'm weird. Anyway, good entry!

THEMARUNGA by Trexxak 2022-04-20T06:33:38Z

Quite a quirky entry! I had a good time with it though I was fairly confused on what exactly was happening most of the time. I did manage to sacrifice like 1200 souls but I'm not sure if that was the point?

Healer's Handbook by javi7 2022-04-20T06:31:52Z

Very fun and quite well polished! Easy to get into the game but the difficulty sure ramps up near the end. I did manage to get 5 books but I wasn't exactly clear on when I was getting them and what they meant? perhaps there was a win condition after that I never got to? Anyway, fantastic entry.

Space Ninja by mhorth 2022-04-20T06:42:01Z

Great entry! Very simple mechanics means you could polish it quite a bit and that shows! The menus and sound design are all fantastic and the game is fun to play! I di try both the Jam and Post-Jam versions and adding the stamina bar was a great idea, though competing on the same leaderboards as the Jam version with infinte stamina was tough if not impossible. I did go back to the jam version and manage to rack up a solid second place score after much time and pausing to rest my wrist. Great job all around!

ENDURACE - Drift Or Die by Phillip Scott 2022-04-20T06:51:02Z

Great entry! I always love a good racing game! The driving felt nice and the AI was pretty good (if not a little slow. Once you get out of the pack it becomes quite easy.) I think it would benefit a lot to have a damage indicator and maybe a speed indicator to know how fast you're going and how much damage it'll do. Too much info for the player can be overwhelming but not enough can be confusing. Overall I had a good time with it!

AstroPhysical by Arihan10 2022-04-07T04:33:20Z

Good entry! I always enjoy these system management games where you have to oversee a lot of small tasks. But I found this one a bit too difficult I think. I know you eventually want to have the asteroids reach the earth causing the player to inevitably lose, but I felt like that happened too fast. each little task required so much precision that I had to devote all my focus to one at a time so it was difficult to prep other weapons or try to prep multiple at the same time, therefore causing me to lose faster. The solar beam minigame also felt a bit too unforgiving as I definitely hit it multiple times when the line was on the bar but it would not register a success, so I think something like that you could give the player a bit more leeway. I loved the UI and post effects though!

Crime Time by bodCodes 2022-04-20T06:58:28Z

Simple and nicely done entry! Once you kinda figure out how the cops move and how to bait them into going certain directions I think it became pretty easy and I think the overall goal of the game could be made a bit clearer, but I had a good time with it!

LD54 — Limited Space

Wide Truck Simulator by Byzilio 2023-10-04T05:07:42Z

I mean what else is there to say except W I D E T R U C K? very novel idea! I wasn't sure how many puzzles you could make based on this mechanics but you did a good job having a few different fun situations to figure out. Felt like I need to use thin truck more than wide truck. would like to see more wide truck in the next one. Jokes aside, good job. Only note is while I like the flat colors with pixelization look, I think you could make the pixel size smaller, it was a bit hard to read at times with how low rez it is.

Rush Station by wolderado 2023-10-04T05:15:13Z

Very well executed and simple concept (if not a little horrifying!) Art looks fantastic and the kicking and shoving is very satisfying. The ball of people is hilariously grotesque. Only thing I found myself wishing for was some sort of meter to show how charged my kick was. Wasn't sure how long I needed to hold it down for full power. Anyways, great job!

Tiny Shelter by rasboy 2023-10-04T04:15:43Z

Very adorable game! The hand drawn art is amazing and it's clear you put a lot of love into the art and animations. I know you said you're working on making it more of a game but as it stands now there's not really much "gameplay" to it. I love the little animation of the cat playing with the ball and would love to see that for each station. Also it felt strange that I couldn't micro manage a bit more to take multple cats to different stations at the same time. Perhaps some more engaging gameplay could be something like, you have to take care of X number of needs for each cat to be adopted out. Anyway, beautiful art!

Wizard n' Slims by rickylee 2023-10-04T07:26:13Z

Did...did I win? I_think_I_beat_it.png Anyway, I know you mentioned you had some balancing issues right before you uploaded, but I had an absolute ton of fun nonetheless. Before I really started to figure it out it was a great little puzzle trying to work out the right combination of powers to play with. I can definitely see how with some better balancing it could be really challenging and fun. And believe me, our own team knows as well as anyone how hard getting difficulty balance can be. Art as always is amazing and adorable. You absolutely nail the clean minimalist look while still conveying all the necessary information. In the end I settled on the basic magic missile and the lightning bolt combo where I set up a mouse macro to automatically fire 5 missiles and then the lighting and combined with the health regen carried me smoothly onto level 1025. I know that wasn't your intention but it's also a testament to how well it's put together that I went that far and everything still worked just fine. I'm sure I could go for another 1000 levels but for now, I must sleep. Great job as always!

Ship of Theseus by teafish 2023-10-04T04:57:27Z

Really fun and really addicting! Wanted to get to the end, but after many tries got to about 650 and called it. Loved the gameplay of trying to attach pieces in the right way to give yourself enough space but also keep it maneuverable. I found the controls a bit irritating though. The hammering to go left and right felt a bit inconsistent to get to work and sometimes just wouldn't work at all when I tried to side sweep into a piece to attach to the side of my ship. The animations on the character are cute but I think the bouncyness animation and the slowness of the walk speed led to it feeling like I was trying to walk through mud to get anywhere on the ship and led to a lot a quick succession mistakes when more octopus things started hopping on. Hit box on the shop also felt a bit wide and I lost a whole side of my ship along with a couple turrets when I wasn't colliding with anything visually. But a bit more polish on things like that and I would absolutely love to keep playing this if there was more to it! Really great job. Art looks FANTASTIC as well.

Pyramyth by MontyM 2023-10-04T05:34:06Z

Neat little puzzle game! Like any good gamer I didn't read the instructions and just jumped in so it took me a bit to figure out. I finally understood the turn wheel at the bottom and once I got that I had a fine time. I didn't realize there was the xray ability until after I beat so it is possible haha. I got that you couldn't take sertain directions because there wasn't a door there, but I think the doors could use a bit more contrast to reel set them apart and make it obvious. Also You can exit through a door and come out where there wasn't a door which didn't feel right? Good job though!

Infinite Circuit Court by Rhoka 2024-04-19T18:09:05Z

@unrealkazu I think you may have encountered one of the bugs we ran into with the mouse sensitivity slider. If you want to give it another shot try increasing that value. For some reason sometimes it would get set to the minimum and wouldn't let people move the mouse.

Pits and Bricks by jimmothysanchez 2025-04-17T00:46:43Z

Nice fun entry, good job! I encountered what felt like a bug a few times where the paddle just stopped moving entirely within a few seconds of starting so I instantly won. Once I got the hang of it though I jumped straight into hard mode. I'm not really sure what the differences are between the modes? sometimes I felt like the ball kind of had a mind of its own and would break a block then instantly keep coming forward and break more without bouncing back. The difficulty ramps down fairly quickly though once you get a few brick makers going and build a wall to protect them. Perhaps it could get harder over time by adding multiple balls, or it gets the ability to smash through 2 blocks at once? Other than that good job! Here was my score on hard!

Oasis Dawn by pickens-inc 2025-04-12T00:24:32Z

Nice job on your entry! Very impressive to get an animated character in and it felt pretty smooth to play. The intro cutscene was very well done although the crystal kinda invaded the camera view a bit during it. I didn't actually realize there was a riposte mechanic but it felt like I could kinda just stunlock the enemies by swinging at them fast. I accidentally closed the game a couple times by pressing esc expecting a pause menu where I could adjust volume, but I totally understand there's only so much 1 person can do in a weekend. I had a good time fighting through several waves though and you made the art nice and cohesive. ( By the way is that the default unreal landscape scene is see as the mountains in the background haha ;) ) Also when I wandered out the edge of the playable space I noticed the sand texture on the terrain expanse was quite small scale so you might just want to scale that up a fair bit so it feels the right size relative to the player. Anyway good job!

Captain Death by Sarah 2025-04-21T02:17:21Z

Like many have already said it took me quite a while to figure out how to actually you the hook angle mechanic. While it is very unique and innovative I think the implementation is just a touch off. I totally get the idea of having to plan out the route your hook needs to go. However as you upgrade the length of each section the work you just put in to plan a path based on the old length just goes out the window and you have to experiment again, and repeat this every time you make that upgrade. The more sections of line you buy the more the screen is covered up in all of the compasses, further obscuring the players ability to plan their route. I think one possible solution to this could be to have the player choose the angle after each individual section of line. So you cast the line, it travels down and then at the end of that section another compass would appear and you would choose your next shot angle. If you want to keep the planning a route aspect I think I would simplify the upgrades to only number of segments and somehow make the angle selection of all the segments less obtrusive on screen. Other than that all the art was suuuuuper cute and as a whole it all looked very cohesive. Overall well done for coming with a very unique take on a fishing game, great job!

Hadal by ColeSlaughter 2025-04-11T10:09:29Z

Great entry as always. As someone that spent 5 hours working on our water shader and it's just flat colors really nice job on the water. I am definitely not good enough to compete for top spots on this leaderboard. But I really like that you came up with a pretty unique style of movement for a platformer and I can definitely see people breaking through to that high skill ceiling. Props to Brainoid for the dope music that gets more complex with each. Overall solid performance from all parts of the team, programming, music, and art!

Coin Grind by jester1454 2025-04-11T08:16:56Z

Nice entry! Seems like you had a goal for a few levels of a mining action platformer and achieved it! I know you only had to get 6 coins to get through level 1, which happened to be the exact number of blocks needed to dig through to get to the exit. However I noticed that I got 1 coin for each block and immediately started mining as many blocks as I possibly could. I ended up with about 250 coins before finally deciding to head to the door. I was a bit disappointed to then find that it just rest with a new counter for the next level. I think maybe you could rework this as a core mechanic if you're going for the idea of greed and having to pay for the exit. For example maybe each level has some sort of threat that means you need to complete the level in X amount of time while getting as many coins as possible. And with that maybe some sort of count at the end of the game with how many total coins you managed to collect by the end. On another note, what you do have is pretty fun to try and get through. My favorite were the bombs trying the blast my way directly to the exit as fast as I could. I did notice sometimes the enemies didn't notice me? Also I was a bit confused on when sometimes enemies and bombs would spawn out of rocks with seemingly no way to tell if they would. Your movement of the character feels great and I like the overall design and look. Good job!

DESCEND with CAUTION by LightningST 2025-04-11T08:51:56Z

While I'm a bit late behind Bongard getting around to rating you thanks again for dropping by our stream and sharing it! I had a great time with it! Tutorialization was quite well done in the first few areas and while I didn't love the acceleration of the character at first I grew to understand the choice and once I really figured out how to use it it clicked. The explosion and grave when you die is really cute if not a bit disheartening to see where you've failed so many times. I think unlike others I understood the wibbly air section pretty quick and like that there were some jumps that felt really good to nail once you learned it. A couple jumps however I did feel were a biiiit to tight like the jump straight up with the spikes above your head I felt like needed to be a bit to precise and would love just a few pixels more room. Overall great job!

Absolutely love the throwback to old flash games. I felt like I was back on kongregate playing some random little adventure someone made. I really like the art and consistent style you have. Your voice acting is great too. I really wanted to find all the endings but I just couldn't seem to. I found the couch as that seems to be the easiest. Then I found the basement after turning all the lights on with the creepy mass of bulbs hanging and skeletons but couldn't seem to interact with anything in the room to trigger and ending screen. At one point I went back to your pre-patch version and somehow randomly opened the trunk in the basement but could not repeat it so I have no idea how to actually open it. And finally I assume there is a code for the door somewhere but could not for the life of me sus out what it might be. Maybe I'm just dumb but nothing seemed to indicated a password number what I could see and I clicked ALL over all the rooms. Like I said I really wanted to find the endings so if you have any hints I'd love to try and finish it. Besides that I didn't figure out I could drag him around for a while but I'm not sure it was even relevant to the game play. The only need for it seemed to be to enter the left and right rooms but then I could drop him down holes but didn't need to carry him to upper floors so it just felt a bit inconsistent in terms of how I needed to get around this house. Also if I dragged him against the keypad door I would teleport to the bathroom. Loved the variety of voice lines. I think my favorite was the cat poster "I'm tryin little man". I know it can be hard to cram in everything you want in a jam so overall great job on what's here!! And again maybe I'm just dumb and need some hints for the other endings.

Getting Drilled! by Ryano 2025-04-21T01:56:34Z

Solid entry and a nice take on the idea of breakout. Unfortunately I think I'm just not very good at it. I think it would be nice to maybe be able to take a few hits before dying on lava instead of instantly dying. That would allow people to see a bit more of your game if they are not as skilled at a game like this. Other than that well done!

Dig in, Gus! by bigwhiteshogun 2025-04-11T10:00:10Z

Just getting around to rating this but really solid entry. The mole is so cute! Liked the fact that the diamonds glowed a bit to hint where they were. The enemies I didn't feel like really ever posed any threat to me. The most dangerous thing was the bramble bushes but I figured out how to remove those pretty fast. Maybe some sort of ranged enemy could be added to pose more of a threat as you explore around. Always love a good digging game though. Reminded my of Steamworld Dig 2! Great job!

Blip by osh.studio 2025-04-11T10:15:48Z

Very nice entry here. The controls were a bit strange to get used to but once I got it I had a great time and would gladly play many more levels of this. I could see new and difficult mechanics like attaching your teleport to moving platforms or maybe some sort of zero-g zone, I don't know just throwing out ideas. The movement felt very slick. My only minor complaint was that I wasn't playing in full screen at first and for some reason that cut off the sides of the game a bit and I couldn't see the side walls in the final hurdle room. Other than that great job!

Deep Fry by thyoi 2025-04-11T09:54:24Z

Just getting around to rating you now, but absolutely fantastic job here! The art is all so pretty and cohesive. You tutorialize things quite well and the twists you uncover as you slowly work through the game are excellent. I love the fact that the words animate in such a way that their movements describe what the word is like Tempura boiling or And smushing together. The characters look great and the way the whole environment shakes and rattles when you drop an order is really neat! When we played it there were just the words and seeing you in some later streams it was very smart to add the parentheses into the orders. Since they're basically equations if makes it just a little bit easier to understand while still being complex enough to be a solid challenge. Oh and last note you might want to disable the game scene underneath when you get to the final ending. I could still interact with the kitchen behind the vast emptyness off the post-tempura-ed earth haha. Overall really great entry and definitely one of my faves this jam!

Dig and Delve by RobLaro 2025-04-17T02:54:07Z

You managed to hook into the part of my brain that has to dig and clear as much as possible in a game like this. Very well done. The smoothness and polish of what you have here is very nice. I think the only thing I really found lacking was there was no music. I know there's only so much time in the weekend but even adding 1-2 looping royalty free tracks would help to set the mood. I ended up finding some random dungeon themed chiptune songs that I put on in the background while I played. I did indeed manage to complete the game and save Drillda (as well as get back down again to get the big gem!). It's clear you balanced this around people progressing down through the levels at a regular pace but I ended up meticulously clearing out 100% of the first level was fully upgraded before I even cleared it out. I continued to clear out everything out to the perimeter of bedrock and even started to get lost going back to the ship because I mined out all the rocks. Some sort of difference in ground texture near the ship could help to guide players back if they clear out a lot like me. Also, because I cleared it all out I had enough fuel to go straight to the bottom and almost down to the bottom again without mining any more. Perhaps there's some sort of overall timer, or timer per level, or even certain resources only spawning on lower levels would encourage players to continually work their way down rather than clear out the first level and blast to the end. But I am acutely aware of how hard it is to balance progression of games. Also maybe some indication of when there's nothing left to do because I went down for a third time only to encounter the big gem again. But props to including the secret ending for going down a second time! Overall great job at grabbing my attention for over an hour! diganddelve.png

High Pressure Arena by HexStart 2025-04-10T22:14:47Z

Very nice entry! Really enjoy the movement model you created. It feels very smooth to transition between normal propulsion and the drifting decoupled mode. Creating a satisfying flight model within the time frame of a jam is quite difficult! The little bubble vfx were also very cute as was the overall vibe and color pallet of the environment. Very pretty while keeping things simple. My only major nitpick was that I didn't even notice my health bar until I was almost dead. The healthy color of the health bar being purple blended in with the rest of the submarine. I think just adjusting that to a more typical green to red gradient would help. Other than that, great job! Here's my score!

Hooky Fish by DurkaGames 2025-04-11T10:22:13Z

Very nice entry you have here. Always love a good fishing game! I was a little confused at first about the sunglasses fish that I was going for and wasn't sure if I was just missing it or it was way down lower. I like the idea of fishing up new baits and the shop in order to access those features however I'd like it if I could hit ESC to leave those menus rather than have to hit the key again as sometimes those menus covered up the key you hit to open the windows and I'd forget momentarily. I also think telling the player in the thought bubble to catch specific items in order to help guide progression would ease a lot of the confusion. Overall nice job!

Departments of Depth Corp. by reivilibre 2025-04-11T23:39:38Z

Why have you brought the hell of this office to our fun game jam? Really though, nice entry very funny. There was just enough back and for to make me start to get annoyed but luckily I found the vending machines to zoom across the office! Couple small notes I have is that the collisions on the generic office workers at their desks felt a little too big and I kept getting caught on them, especially when I had speed trying to navigate the main office floor. Also maybe some sort of small indicator of which cabinets are interactable when you need to find something in them. It took me a minute to realize that in the HR room. Other than that solid job!

Good job on your entry! I really like the hand drawn art you did. It gives it a 2000s era flash game feel. It was quite an interesting idea to have to switch between the two falling modes and that there were some challenging bits that you could only start to do after buying a few upgrades. I'm not sure I entirely understood the point of some of the long sections of blocks with a corridor down. You didn't seem to get points for smashing blocks and I don't know why you would opt to walk down so I usually ended up just bashing through those to get to the next area to grab money and stars so they kinda felt unnecessary. I was also a little unsure of the distinction between some of the upgrades like reduced gravity vs jump height. Those two kind of seem like they could be lumped into one. Overall solid entry. Managed to snag first place too!

Good job on completing a game for the jam! I successfully managed to get the bottom and win! Along the way though I was a little confused about a few things. I understand you want to have it get dark and creepy but I think it gets way to dark way too fast and it was almost impossible to see what was happening. I don't think adding a small light source a round the player would be a bad thing, even if it just went a tile or two to either side just to give the player some reference of where they are. You could even make it something they need to go find and pick up. I think the triangle things were the strange creatures? But they didn't really feel like they posed a threat to me. Maybe once they're activated they could start tracking towards the player before exploding. Lastly I seemed to randomly take damage and heal without knowing what was happening so I think I got a little lucky when I made it to the end. Overall though you successfully made a complete game so good job!

Very solid entry! Very impressive that you managed to get so much playtime out of just a 30 second level. As I get runs in I could feel myself improving at the controls and had fun unlocking new movement tech like jumping to slide up hills faster or releasing a jump sooner so I could land on a conveyor belt sooner. I could see the possibility for improvement on my time so you managed to hook me into grinding until I got a gold medal. I don't know that I'll ever beat that 26.50 but I'm pretty proud of my time. I could definitely see this being developed into having a few more levels with leaderboards of the best times. But I know designing a tight speedrun like this can be hard for a single level let alone multiple! Also last thing is I would love for the bronze/silver/gold times to be displayed somewhere in game to let the player know exactly what they're aiming for rather than just "40 seconds or less". Overall really nice game!

Good job on submitting an entry! I'll start off by saying I really like the visuals. The fish is very cute and I want him to escape! Minor note on the visuals, there is some sort of strange lens flare or refraction or shadowy effect happening on the entire screen that's like a ghost of all the geometry. I'm not entire sure what is happening but it was a bit distracting. Besides that I was a bit thrown off by the controls at first. I would probably tell the player that the WASD is more for water and the jumping is more for land, or at least that's what it seemed like to me. I found the pipe in the water that said I found an exit but I went back to explore further. I was EXTREMELY confused by the controls and how to jump up the platforms, but eventually I figured out that the jump height/angle is based on where the camera is angled. That brings me to the camera which is inverted by default with no option to change that. I would highly recommend un-inverting the camera by default and adding an option for people to do that if they want. And in regards to the jumping even when I understood the controls I felt like most of the time I was guessing whether or not I would actually make a jump. Instead it being purely based on camera I would maybe do some sort of system like golf games do where you have some sort of preview arc of where you're going to jump. It doesn't necessarily have to show exactly where you will land so maybe the preview arc fades after a few feet just to give you some idea of the jump while retaining some difficulty. The system you have made it especially hard to jump on top of the small thin orange barrier at the end of a level. I did manage to make it to the second level but failed once I tried that little barrier jump. Some sort of checkpoint system would be nice as I ended up quitting after being sent all the way back to the beginning. Apologies for the wall of text but hopefully it's helpful! Overall after I got over the controls and camera I did have fun and got excited making it to the next level. Good job!

Looks like this was your first LD entry so congrats on submitting your game! Unfortunately it seemed like there was no way for me to purchase upgrades so I gave it the best go I could. Made it down to about 460m before it became almost impossible to get any farther. I probably would've made it to the end if I could buy the upgrades. Like others have said the collision damage is very over tuned where using the rockets for even a second gets too much speed to get damaged. I also ran into the issue where there were random collision boxes which made it impossible to drop straight down a shaft without dying. I would also suggest only taking away fuel based on movement or drilling. I think if you're not moving the fuel should not just deplete. Good job though, I had a good time otherwise!

Great fun and humor! There's a bit much going on in the UI at once so maybe explain each stat, but other than that really enjoyed it!

Just played your game! its very adorable! Had to play it one player so had a little extra challenge but it was still enjoyable! The mood was just fantastic between the smooth day/night transitions and the calming ambient soundscape. Really loved the graphics and being the artist for our game I really hope to be able to make that level of art in the span of a jam someday. Overall loved it

Awesome! Wish there were some more levels to play. Only Thing I would say is some sort of visual indicator to show if you're on the ground (i.e. shadow) Other than that great!
