When I try to open it on MacOS Catalina 10.15.7 I get the error *“LD48 3” is damaged and can’t be opened. You should move it to the Trash.* Which is unfortunate because your game looks so cool! Hope to try it soon, especially because my friends and I also made a grappling hook platformer!

this was positively GORGEOUS and so smooth. Super fun!! would love to see it fully polished in the future

@brutor oh man! you've probably the first to finish it!! Thanks sooo much for playing :) Btw it was difficult or easy to finish?
2021-04-27 08:34
@janet-lin thank you very much for your kind words! We really do appreciate them. We will definitely polish it or even implement more levels post-jam. Thanks for playing and your GORGEOUS comment <3

That is a cool concept, really well executed ! The art is really good, and gives a great ambience to the game, and the gameplay works well, and the level design fits it really well. The only thing I think could be improved is the physics of the ship during a grapple. Your thrusters are supposed to be more effective, but most of the time they feel a bit too effective to be controlled properly, and sometimes they just don't work. But I did the game without relying on that, so that's not really problematic.

@quite-good Sorry about that, we updated the build for OSX hopefully it will work now ¯\\_(ツ)_/¯

Awesome game! One of the best for me so far. The art and the audio are fantastic and really work well together. The grapling is fun to use. Great job !!
Solid. That's really nice. I have nothing to say about. The art is excellent, the music is nice, the gamefeel is cool! Really nice work. crust.PNG

Music fits perfectly fine. Sounds are also perfectly fine. Controls are on point, no buggy behavior or similar, just works as expected.
I love the grab mechanic, as you can use it pretty modular, you can do a "full grab" or just get a little boost into the direction you want to go.
You have added some exploration feature by hiding pearls in certain spots, measuring time and death gives the game - although it "only" has one level - a replayability.
Graphics are awesome.
Bonus Points for visual and audio feedback on the buttons.
I really enjoyed playing this game, thank u!
This is insanely tight and well designed! I love the addition of collectibles and the recap at the end. It felt so smooth to play and I loved the audio and visuals!

This game is a true work of art! Amazing job! Beautiful graphics, and astounding sound design. The controls feel great! One again, fantastic work!

This is amazing -- looks like a fully polished game demo, not a jam game. Sound design and graphics are fantastic. Also, a grapple AND Godot engine? You know the way to my heart. Bravo to everybody involved! Happened across 6 pearls on my first run through.
great game, perhaps more incentive to use grapple more often, a longer game would make a perfect topdown puzzle adventure game
Amazing sounds and music, absolutely amazing! The atmosphere was awesome, and it was just the right mix of challenging and relaxing. Great work!

Easily my favorite game so far. The graphics, the audio the mood is just perfect! I would like to play a fuller version of this. More puzzle variations, some additional enemies (maybe moving) and this would be amazing. Thanks for the game!

@kuviman There are 11 pearls in total, the "/22" part is a bug when you restart the game, so you missed only one! Sorry about that.

Beautiful game! The sound and visuals set a great mood and the gameplay is simple but engaging. Well done!

a Very well put together game. other than the font the devs made everything themselves, it was the right level of frustration and the right level of accomplishment.
Jaw-droppingly gorgeous! And incredibly well polished. Hard to find anything to critique to be honest. Perhaps a little more control while grappling but others didn't seem to have that issue.

Really cool game with cool moody art! I wish there was a bit more motivation to go faster than the timer at the end to make players hone their grappling skills :D
2021-04-28 21:03
Alright this is downright amazing. Definitely one of my favourites in the jam. Incredibly intuitive and fun mechanic, good level design with the secrets and pacing, and incredible art to top it off. Congrats!

I'm a huge fan of grapple mechanics and this hits all the right spots. The animation for the tentacles was really well made and fluid. I wish it was a bit longer so I could enjoy those grappling mechanics a bit more. Being able to slowly move or use the grapple to zoom around really appeals to multiple game styles and showing off personality through game-play. One cool suggestion I have is using the same code to extend the grapple but using a different button for a sort of pole that pushes you instead of pulling. Amazing work, keep it up! <3
2021-04-28 23:43
Absolutely stunning game. I feel I could see this on the front of the steam page tomorrow! Or even today!
The art, sound and design were all tip top and it's amazing your team got this out in 3 days!
I could really see a speedrun of this be very satisfying to watch as someone with mastery over the hookshot swings and sways through the game.
If there was one criticism I have, it's that there being no visual indicator for getting a checkpoint meant I was never sure how far back I would go upon death.
Other than that an absolutely wonderful, atmospheric game, that much like the pearls you collect, is polished to a brilliant shine :D.
2021-04-29 00:27
Two tiny problems I had:
1) As a gamer with two monitors, my mouse had trouble staying within the bounds of the game window. Even while in full screen. Something to consider for the future adding some sort of option that keeps the mouse within the bounds of the game. 2) Very minor, but I had some issues with screen tear at the very end on the right side. Not sure if this is a me problem or a bug problem, but there you go.
Otherwise, FANTASTIC game, really well done, challenging without being unfair, great replay value. Really awesome work!

@kitty-mama Thank you very much for your feedback and your kind words! About the 1st problem you are absolutely right we should confine the mouse inside the window, we will certainly fix it in the post jam version, about the 2nd problem yeah it's a bug, the background is one pixel larger than the rocks layer :D
Just beautiful, atmospheric, and moody.

Great work. I loved it!
So freaking good. The movement is a tad too slow, but the grapple feels really great, so the movement was an issue only when there's wasn't anything to attach the grapple to.

Awesome game! Graphics, gameplay and sound are perfect! Thanx
This is super cool! The atmosphere is amazing, reminds me of Outer Wilds and Limbo. Music is full of feeling and the art is super neat. I'd really love a longer version with a complete story and all :)
Amazing! I love the music and audio (death sound is just epic) it adds so much to the overal atmosphere. Graphics and gameplay is also great. Great work guys!
Nice game. A bit slow, and because of that not very challenging. I like the grappling hook mechanic. Might be interesting to see you get a second grappling hook and enter a more difficult area with that. Graphics are nice and music sets the mood well.
2021-04-30 00:37
Quite possibly my favorite LD48 game. Well done.
Every time I enter a game jam... there is always that one game that blows everyone's mind. I can't say rather or not this will be the highest rated jam entry. If I were the judge, this would be my pick for number.
I streamed the gameplay if you want to check my VOD: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1004793106?t=01h55m17s
Absolutely blown away by the level of polish. Dang!
I honestly couldn't point out a single thing you could improve upon, not even in a nitpicky way. Now heading into my second play-through, as I didn't find all the hidden pearls.
WOW in all categories! Art is amazing. It seems like an entire world invented just for this little game, and the depth of the consideration is visible in every element. The music is so spot on, that I almost believe it was written by a tentacle monster. The core game mechanic is super fun, and the level design is challenging but Very rewarding. Non-stop juice beginning to end.

Crust is a really, really impressive game for a game jam. If there was just a few more levels, I wouldn't have been angry to pay for this game on Steam.
The controls feels good and intuitive. The level design is fun and challenging at times. The graphic design is beautiful and polished
Honestly a 5 stars game for me! Congratulations.

Thanks for submitting! I hope my in-stream feedback was helpful!
Really nice game. Beautiful execution, great mechanics (love the pinballesque bumpers). Very polished. Amazing.

Very fun game! I enjoyed the grapple mechanics. The levels were well designed and balanced. I like that this game has scoring, you can certainly replay it more times to get a better score. The atmosphere was pretty cool, with well-fitting music. I certainly will try to beat my score and get better! Wholly recommend playing.
Thanks for bringing your game by my stream for playtesting! If you’d like to revisit the play and commentary you can view the highlight at https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1006134087
It was interesting that "movement via grappling hook" became a bit of a mini-theme this jam.

Definitely one of the best games from this LDJAM. Loved everything from the graphics to the music and storytelling. The controls are exactly what they should be imho. I love that the game is probably as enjoyable to people who will speedrun the hell out of it as to people who will casually go around obstacles. Really well done :muscle:
Excellent stuff!nice graphics, thematic, interesting movement concept. It was nice that you could still use thrusters, otherwise it might have been frustrating. Nice sound effects, nice movement and particles. It's always a bonus in a game when dying feels good, and the tentacles that eat you are so snappy I didn't mind dying to them. Very impressive game.

really nice submission! mechanics had a great feel to them, took a bit of skill to figure out how to navigate efficiently, environment was great. if I had to nitpick something, I'd say that at times it seems like it would have been nice to have been able to see more of the surroundings in order to better plan out my trajectory, since on occasion i ended up blasting off directly into some tentacles that were just offscreen when i started my grappling hook. but overall awesome work!
Some of the more magical moments for me playing this game was figuring out how to use the grappling hook in conjunction with the water flow movement. I thought those moments where the aim and timing mattered really helped justify the primary form of movement in this game. I unfortunately felt throughout the rest of the game, the grappling hook wasn't all that compelling, given it was just a simple way to get to a point towards a wall very quickly, and not much else. I think if more timing elements were added in, such as moving enemies, or even reducing the drag on the submarine so it would retain the momentum from swinging on the grappling hook much longer, could make the movement system much more compelling and dynamic for the player. The fantastic graphics and music, as well as the clever placements of the pearl, did compel me to play to the end, though, so great job!

Nice depth, graphics and secrets to find! The mood is strong with this one.
Really excellent entry! The controls were tight and responsive, the graphics are gorgeous, and the music perfectly fits the atmosphere.
We finished the game on the [stream](https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1007202934?t=00h35m07s), and had a lot of fun! The mechanic is really addictive, graphics and music are amazing and immersive. I liked to use hook, and the mechanic itself can be probably expanded to the full-game! I had a lot of fun, great game!
REAL GORGEOUS!

Wow, really beautiful game. The visuals and sound design are both outstanding! The checkpoints were really nice in the context of a jam, even getting through the tougher areas I never felt frustrated. Ended up with 4 deaths and 337 seconds on my first playthrough which to me is perfect for a jam game.
Only CC is that since the first time I ran into the big ball at the end I didn't actually push through, I was left me floating around that area for a bit before pushing through one of the lighter areas. The light is a pretty obvious hint but maybe it could have been even more obvious?

What an absolutely solid experience. The audio, graphics, and gameplay are all top-notch here. I could totally seeing this developed into a full experience that leans into the speedrunner community. Very nicely done! :ok_hand:
Really neat idea and a familiar art style for this mechanic! Your music guy did a good job, as did the artists! I didn't really notice anything weird with the gameplay or the programming except that the framerate was kind of iffy. Overall I gave it a 3.5/5 - nice concept with great execution!

Very polished game! Great original game mechanics. Gets a bit too complex for my taste but it would get boring without a challenge, right? Amazing art and sounds create great mood. A tutorial is a nice touch to the player experience. Very solid entry, great job!

Really fun game! I enjoyed it a lot, great atmosphere that you managed to create with the visuals and audio!
The first time I encountered the tentacle arms I didn't realize they were enemies, but other than that the visuals were super good looking and clear what was good/bad. I felt like it was a tiny bit slow to control without the hook, but it might just be my preference! It might also be a way to incentivize people to use the hook instead. Playing around with the hook was really fun!

An amazingly polished title with exceptional moodsetting. I was immersed (pun intended) the entire time, and even though the gameplay might not be my favourite style or genre, I enjoyed the experience.

Great job on this! Audio and visuals are all fantastic! As we discovered in our game too, the addition of collectibles is always a nice touch to give the player a bit more "game" to play, and it definitey works! After seeing some other people play this I made it a point to go discover all the collectibles. Some of them were tricky to find but I made it! Not really anything else to add!Crust.png

Amazing little game, very fun to play. I liked the art style. I found my self trying to speed run it and it did not turn out well XD.

@666savior Thank you very much for playing and your feedback! We are trying to give the grapple mechanic more speed and agility and we will release an update when the voting will be over. What would you say it was difficult / annoying, in order to have a smooth speedrun? Btw we would love to see a capture of your gameplay trying to speedrun it..that would be awesome. :)
2021-05-17 01:38
@kaminos my speed run attempt was more me spamming the grapple than actual skill/targeted timing. From what i could tell the movement was good as is, i just suck at precise timing

Cool game. Art style is really nice and fits the underwater theme.
2021-05-17 22:01
This game is great! I'd suggest a timer, which would add another challenge to further motivate the player to use the grappling hook instead of just safely floating around. In fact, both versions could be available to play :D good job!

If you join a slot tournament, you will play pokies trying to beat the others in betting or wagering http://truebluecasinos-au.com/ . The leaderboard challenges will determine how much to play (wager) or how often to do it. As a rule, there will be a list of pokies that the participants have to stick with, which means that you can’t choose any game you like during the competition.
