I'm getting nightmare memories of QWOP from this...Great idea, very well executed, brilliant work (I'm a little ashamed about how long I spent trying the final over and over before rage quitting)

I'm getting nightmare memories of QWOP from this...Great idea, very well executed, brilliant work (I'm a little ashamed about how long I spent trying the final over and over before rage quitting)
The level of polish here is astounding! Really fun game, pretty art, nice audio design, and so much depth for a jam game! Very impressed, great work!
That screen shake was intense! Nice work, simple and effective idea.
Great game! Really simple but satisfying puzzle mechanic that supports the theme, looks great too. Really impressed with this, congrats!
Wow the art in this was wonderful! Lots of attention to detail. The SFX were pretty sweet too (few things make me happier than a good sci-fi door sound). Not much in the way of gameplay, but it works as a short kind of narrative/interactive pretty pixel art thing. Good job!
@patrikherman Thanks loads! I am really happy with how the music (and adaptive audio system in general) worked out. Thanks for playing (and listening!)
@jonah thanks loads, happy you enjoyed the game! Yeah I tried the WebGL specific build settings, but I still get stuttering Iām afraid (also changed the DSPbuffer size to no avail). Indeed, maybe last thing I can try is reducing sample rate on the music files themselves. Web audio is just always a bit of a pain. Still, at least it sort of works like this. Thanks for your time!
@amanda-laven Thanks! Yes I got really excited when I realised I could go with a noir-ish/60s spy vibe for the music, such a fun genre to explore! Thanks so much for playing!
@silas-reinagel thank you so much, thatās very high praise indeed! And yes, details like the adaptive voice lines are exactly the kind of little surprises I enjoyed adding. I think I ended up with 39 different NPC voice lines that change based on your disguise. Very happy you liked the game!
@advay thanks for the feedback! Yeah, also the text bubbles also donāt work correctly in WebGL(web builds are a pain). Thanks for playing!
@rolle thanks loads! Yeah I didnāt realise I was sleep deprived until after it was over, had too much fun making it. Glad it seems to have been worth it.
Agreed, our programmer @chartle just keeps going deep into the night, and we just get to wake up to new features :)
@stin thanks for playing! Yeah I'm afraid WebGL just doesn't play nice with more complex FMOD systems, we've tried all sorts of things to fix it to no avail. Short of downloading the executable, you can check out the music by itself here: https://soundcloud.com/pat-cleaver/dieper-deaper-ost
Thank you so much @diotins glad you liked it!
@blackopsben thanks for playing and for the feedback! Yeah the dialogue audio system ended up being a bit unpredictable and strange. Itās quite experimental, very hard to ACTUALLY simulate speaking(which kind of wasnāt the point)but was fun to implement anyway.
@fabula-rasa oh thanks for the detailed feedback, glad you enjoyed the game! That bug with the key/camera is news to me...might have to do with the NPC who comes to fix it, something not updating properly there.
@digital-bacon thanks for playing , happy you enjoyed it!
@itsisaac thanks so much! I had a lot of fun coming up with all those different voice lines and recording. I feel like having the NPCs acknowledge how the player is dressed really adds to the fun, itās a small detail of polish, but Iām very happy it worked for you! š
@binaryprinciple wow, such high praise, thanks loads for playing and for the kind words! Iām genuinely curious how many people found the āyou can just leaveā ending, Dieperās tapping foot animation on that screen got a good laugh out of me when I first saw @saskle had made it!
Nice one! The music changing with depth was a cool touch (although, I think I would have prefered it to feel more in continuity, rather than such a drastic change in style). A nice puzzle, pretty graphics. As soon as I saw Boom, I thought Nederlands. Gefeliciteerd, heele mooie entry!
Very simple game, I enjoyed the alien design. I did get stuck in the geometry quite a lot, and an easier way to quit than tabbing out would be nice.
That was cute. Not sure I should be feeding it that much candy...I'm curious about where the narrative comes in in the final version.
Brilliant game! Really fun vibe, the variety of ennemies and associated guns keeps it interesting, and you really went the extra mile with that VO! Congrats!
nice! If only I wasn't so terrible at bullet hell games... Loved the various ennemy behaviors, really changed things up and forced me to move in ways I wouldn't otherwise have. Great work!
Looks very pretty, nice self-explanatory puzzle mechanic, and what a vibe! Clement's music is particularly great too (#MusicWeeklies represent!)
This was a fun one! I like the pinging on a cooldown mechanic. For my taste it was a bit too punishing to die so quickly. But all in all, I like it quite a lot.
The environments and creatures were very cool! I'm guessing that the random generation was in my favour because it basically had no challenge, just gross things waiting to me mercy killed, rather than moving towards me. Would have liked some ennemies to come from behind too, or like, drop down from the ceiling maybe? All in all, it had a cool creepy vibe to it, good job!
The lighting was pretty effective indeed. Music felt a bit out of place for my taste. All in all a nice entry.
Very nice game! I like the idea of being kicked back to the previous level as a fail state, it really empasises the idea of layers. It's a detail, but the fact that the music slowed down to a conclusion on the win screen made the dynamic audio person in me very happy! Good job to all involved.
Fantastic work, one of my favourite entries in this LD! Really complete experience, smart puzzle/level design, very well tuned, all in all I'm astonished! I want to play more of your games now!
Nice work, I like the details in the decor (posters etc...) It's clear that you ran out of time, but the premise is good and deserves to be developed further I'd say!
It's simple and effective, nice work! First attempt I scored 420pts and was tempted to call it at that ;) wasn't entirely sure when I would fall or not at first, but that became clear eventually. I particularly like the ennemy sprites!
Fabulous work! Really love this, pretty unusual to see folks using their own engine, and I thought the mechanics were effective and self explanatory.
Nice one! Really enjoyed the music and SFX. I could have used some feedback about my health, and generally a sense of peril. It just felt like "Oh bullet hell, I guess I should avoid these", wasn't even sure I was getting damaged oir doing any damage back though. That being said, very nice work overall I'd say!
Nice game! It's a simple enough loop, but I like it! The digging and jetpack energy being the same resource is an interesting touch. I do wish there was a couple more sound effects in there, given that it's THE core mechanic, I could use more audio feedback from the drilling for example. Nice work overall, cute character art too!
Great entry! Love the variety of ennemies and weapons, it's simple, but adds depth. Congrats!
Nice! This would make a really nice mobile game, with bite sized sessions. Good work!
Great game! Really impressive for a jam! It feels great once you get the hang of the mechanic, and the audio filter when you're underground is a nice touch (I thought it might become annoying, but it worked), Congrats, VERY strong entry!
Really nice one! Simple mechanics, but effective, fits the theme well. Congrats on a very nice entry!
Love this! Very cute artwork, the little intro comic was a nice touch, and fun mechanics to boot. A very strong entry, congrats!
That's a really impressive amount of work for a jam game. So many different mini games! It's also nice to see a different take on the theme. Congrats!
Really nice game! The art is brilliant (I love the minimal approach to the water, really feels like a story book or something), nice music too. I can't say that I like the actual mechanic, it's not very compelling to just click on things over and over again. But a beautiful experience either way.
Wow this was great! Really nice and simple mechanic, had that sweet boardgame vibe some 4X games can have. Very impressed with this, good job!
Nice DOOM vibes! I really enjoyed this one, straight forward fun FPS action! Great work
Great stuff! Really love the art style and music, it sets a really nice mood. Out of interest, did you do anything in particular to get FMOD to play nice with WebGL? I've had a fair amounbt of trouble with it. Is it just using relatively short loops?
FANTASTIC game! This might be my favourite entry I've played so far! The espionage in a workplace theme is similar to what my team did, but this is extra whacky. Love the small talk lines too :)
Love the throwing mechanic, the parallax background, and the ambience. There was ONE footstep sound in your selection that stood out too much for my taste (an especially high gravelly one). Very nice entry, congrats!
Such a pretty game, and I quite liked the music too excellent work!
Nice! The harp playing when I converted people was a nice touch! A pretty solid entry, could have done without the long winded exposition at the beginning tbh. Great work overall!
really lovely art style on this one! The parallax scrolling is cool, and it's an interesting take on the theme. Congrats!
Very nice! I am a huge fan of overcooked, so this is right up my alley. Love the writing, it sets the tone well, and there's a fair amount of depth for a jam game! Great work!
Very nice, I've seen a few roots digging for water games in this LD, and this is one of the nicer ones. The mandrake is a nice twist to that theme. Good work, congrats!
Wow what am ambitious entry, lots going on in this one! I'm impressed with all the characters, writing etc... Good work!
I died...a lot...But I love the idea, and there's lots of varied writing in here. I like that the running water kicks in when you find yourself close to a river. Nice entry all in all, congrats!
that was...different. An interesting take on the theme, I like the idea of trading health for damage output. But I would have liked more challenge, I never actually felt in danger, which is too bad for a game about slowly bleeding out. Nice work overall though!
That was quite surreal, not quite sure what to make opf it (which is a good thing, I think). Good work!
So many puzzles! That's really impressive for a jam game, really enjoyed it! Great work, loads of depth to explore here.
Yes really nice work! I love how each dream introduces a new mechanic. Really pretty visuals too!
Great game! Really enjoyed the different platforms move when you use different abilities, very smart mechanic. It did feel a little bit floaty and therefor punishing to me at times, but all in all, I'm very impressed with the game. Congrats!
Wow that was great! Really fun game, the tuning on the thrust vs gravity felt just right. Great 3D models too, very impressive visually. All in all, a very neat experience, congrats to the team! I agree with the comments saying the countdown at the beginning is too long and unnecessary (I just want to get back to playing asap after failing)
Some cool ideas here. I especially like the points being affected by physics and having to avoid dropping them. It feels like a novel mechanic that could really be interesting if you pushed it further. Congrats on the entry!
GLORIOUS art style, some of the prettiest I've seen in this jam. I wish you had made all the font hand written too, it's the only thing that clashed. There's obviously not much gameplay here, but the world was very evocative. Very nice work!
I really enjoyed this, very evocative! It feels like a bigger world is being hinted at, and I do enjoy the survival mechanics combined with rogue-like stuff. Congrats!
Wow this was great! Kind of reminded me of Lovers in a Dangerous Spacetime, being in a cramped ship and running to different stations to deal with the outside world. That panicked multitasking vibe. I could imagine it working really well as a 2 player coop in that sense!
Took me a second to understand that I had to do a lot of clicking. A simple idea, interesting and different take on the theme. Feels like this could really be cool with a bit of extra polish! Congrats to the team.
Really nice game! Some cool pixel art (love those bat things!). I like the music, just REALLY wish it didn't restart every time I died. The little cutscene for falling is a nice touch too. Very nice entry, congrats to the whole team!
I really like the rowing mechanic, and the character art is great too! I always love small narrative games where you have a simple action that keeps you busy while various dialogues happen. This feels like it could really become something cool with a bit more content! Great work.
That was delightful! Very cute art, straight forward mechanics, a good entry all round. Great work!
That was fantastic! Really nice ramping up in the puzzle difficulty, interesting mechanic that you really pushed to cool places. The ending was a very nice touch, adds a tiny narrative twist to an otherwise abstract game. Great entry, congrats!
Nice game! Left me wanting more. It may just be a detail, but I especially liked the transition effects between levels. Not entirely sure I needed the shooting to be literal guns if I'm honest, given that everything else had a nice kind of Thomas was Alone abstract quality to it. Good job overall!
Very nice! That beat is sweet (I knew it would be from the moment that first synth kicked in), love it! I like the mechanic, it feels like it deserves to be developed even further, almost feels like a rhythm game, and having things sync to your beat would take it to the next level(although...that's also a whole extra system to build)
wait so the music is made by a generative system? That's super cool! Also, gotta love an anthropomorphic frog called Greg, you won me over just with that.
nice, love making sound a central mechanic! Could have used a couple more sounds in there to trick the player, right now it's just a matter of "do I hear the humming or the growling?", but a version with a humming wolf could be nice. Overall I like the idea, and it looks pretty too.
Really nice entry, gotto love those pooches! 3 different modes is impressive, and it's not common to go for muiltiplayer in a jam game, so that's commendable too. Nice work!
wow what a pretty game! The gradually increasing weirdness from level to level is very well done (also in the audio). Really impressed by this (even though it was seriously hard at times)
that was hilarious, AND fun! great work, had a blast with this one.
I made it to 5 fish! Really like the art work and simple but fun mechanics. Congrats!
@bentebent it's actually a little easter egg reference to our LD48 game that ALSO took place in an office and had the player sneaking around in a cactus costume ;)
@gabrielgamedev Thanks so much for pointing out the audio spacialisation! I decided it made most sense to only have diegetic sounds for this game, which meant things really feeling like they were in the world mattered to me, and audio localisation is key to finding some of the bugs too (plus I enjoyed stretching my "technical audio designer" muscles on this one.
@chesiq Thanks for the audio shout out! I'm lucky to be able to dedicate almost all my jam time to the audio both in terms of assets and implementation. And I'm also very lucky to have team mates that are willing to make space for sound to be an integral part of the experience!
@burst yeah it's not particularly true to the QA experience :) Thanks for singling out the voice acting, I'm far from a real actor, but these jam games do allow me to experiment a bit in that direction!
Yeah @dock-frankenstein thatās quite the comment! Thanks loads for the constructive and detailed feedback. Our approach is certainly a risky one as we like to make things quite dense and our best intentions to keep things neat go out the window during the last few hours..Iām happy you enjoyed the audio! The volume slider was just a lazy shortcut for mapping to an FMOD parameter that takes a 0-1 float(and can be called back and set by FMOD to avoid resetting the values in between scenes), itās never failed me yet though. Thanks again for playing and taking the time to write!
very cool concept, and nicely executed, congrats! This is a perfect little loop for a jam game, kept me engaged for a while. Great work!
very fun and addicitve! Games that use shouting into a microphone as mechanic just never get old!
Very nice game! I got the bug where I could purchase lots of upgrades at once and go into debt, which obviously ruins the upgrade path. The dialog felt kind of long winded and unnecessary at times to me, and there are some blatant language mistakes in there (totally understandable for non-native english speakers though). The art is stunning, and the music is sweet too (elevator music for the shop is perfect!0 overall great work
wow this is so cool! I would have been happy with just the "build a town and try to get as many inhabitants as possible" concept, but the dragon is a cool addition. Some nice variety in all the buildings too. Great job!
OK this was fantastic, what a trip! Only remark I'd have is, could you maybe add a changelog to this page to explain what the differences are in the postjam version? It's only fair to label that clearly on your page while the rating phase is still happening. It's a very polished and diverse experience, nice voice acting, tons of great art and different mechanics. Great work to the whole team!
@brainloaf-studio thanks for taking the feedback! Yeah I guess my point is: Iām sure you did TONS of work in 72 hours, and with a change log it wonāt leave any doubt about it.
That sultry saxophone had me immediately intersted, the audio in general was really nice. So much beautiful art in this too, a very impressive entry indeed! It's fun to see what a larger team can manage at a jam!
OK this is a fantastic mechanic, but SOOOOOOOO punishing. I would love to have seen more of the levels, but I lost patience with it I'm afraid. It's a very cool idea, nice art and music. Congrats!
this was a fun one! You say in your description that you're bad at level design, but I thought these were actually really well thought out in terms of progression, taking a simple mechanic and stretching it out. Great work!
looks and sounds great! The jump sound is a bit obnoxious maybe, especially since it gets spammed a lot. love the pixel art, fun design, I wish I didn't keep getting annihilated by those falling blocks XD
I just lost a decent chunk of my evening to this game, so congrats on really hooking me in! Takes me back to some old school flash games (Burrito Bison anyone?) Really great work!
I enjoyed this one. I got stuck when the log floated down the river. The music is very cool, although I don't really feel like it fits the game, I guess it's something you just took from somewhere since you don't list a composer or audio desinger? Just some forest sounds would probably have worked just as well. Some simple puzzles, the ever shifting world mechanic works well. Nice job overall!
really great game! fun concept, cute artwork (and SO MUCH of it too!), nice audio too. Congrats, a very impressive entry!
very nice game! Took me a second to get the hang of juggling the 3 mechanics (yeah I'm an idiot...) having to balance the speed vs attacking vs shielding was very cool. Congrats to the team!
I would have been entirely satisfied with just the penguin guiding game, but you folks went above and beyond and did twice the work! Cool idea, nice subversion, great work!
I did it, Let's Go!!! Really great game, just the perfect scope for a jam, lots of fun enough variation, humour. Great stuff all round!
Pretty cool using your own engine for this. I found the floatiness a bit too much, would have liked things to feel a bit more grounded. My team didn't end up going with the "horses escaping a stable" approach to the theme, but we did have a good laugh discussing a "horse heist" concept, so it's nice to see someone went for it! Congrats!
fun game, interesting set of puzzles. Especially impressed that this is a compo entry, congrats!
The music was pretty ominous, so I expected something really terrible to happen to the poor guy. I guess the ship being destroyed is bad enough though... Nice art style, simple but effective mechanic. Nice work!
I recognise those Kenney assets ;) I would have liked there to be a bit of progression and variation, some different sized hazards, maybe vary the speed of the player, throw in some "gates" you have toi fly through. But for a solo effort, this was really quite good, congrats!
wow that was gorgeous, really nice combination of sweet pixel art, simple self explanatory mechanic and serene atmosphere from the piano and forest ambience. I really enjoyed this, congrats on putting it all together!
That was fantastic, such a serene experience, very sweet little vignettes, and gorgeous piano playing(really flows!) Congrats to the team whole!
very nice take on the game. Didn't make it past the construction site, but I may have to return to it. For someone just starting out making games this is very impressive, congrats!
I really enjoyed the art style on this. I only saved 3 horses (I feel terrible...). My team considered "Horse Heist" during our brainstorming, but we ended up going with a different idea, this was a fun take on that! Congrats!
Who knew slow motion tumbling pizzas could be so fun? Nice entry, music really adds to the atmosphere too.
This is really pretty, the hand drawn sketch aesthetic is super nice! Also loved the peaceful music. It's a simple loop, but quite addictive. Very nice game!
Love the music in this, some real GB pokemon vibes! Great twist too. Props on making an NES game!
Really nice entry, I love all the particle effects! It's nicely polished too, great work!
This is really great! Lovely art, nice music, an excellent entry all around. Congrats!
Nice game, simple but effective, congrats!
this is fantastic! Really funny, and enjoyable physics, cute art style. A great entry!
Nice game, I do wish I had more of a zoomed out view, and some more UI would be great. Cute visuals (especially the lab equipment)
This is hilarious, and really hard. Love me some QWOP vibes, good work!
this looks really nice, great 3D models, shooting feels quite good too. Congrats!
Such a cute game. Fun and addictive gameplay, interesting mechanic. I very nice entry, congrats!
Fantastic work, love an experiment, really good voice acting/writing. A very solid entry!
This looks and sounds really great! All the little robot voices and dynamic rover sounds are super cool, and I love the diagetic UI. A great entry congrats!
The art on this is especially nice! Music is cool too (some sound effects would have been nice) I found some of the narration to be a bit long winded at times, and some of the non sequiturs made it confusing (but certainly funny). Still, very impressive work overall!
Wow this is really hard. I feel like it could use a damage system with a certain number of lives (that could scale with difficulty). Or like, maybe have the enemies shots less intense. The art is cute (I like having a choice of ships). Nice work!
This was great! The whole vibe is so nice, between teh clean graphics, crisp SFX and smooth music. A simple mechanic well implemented. Congrats!
This was quite hard to understand if I'm honest. Once I understood better, it became clear that there's a fair amount of depth, feels like really promising idea. I'd love to see a version of this with some sort of tutorial/onboarding.
I think this might be my favourite game I've tried so far from this jam, so polished! Really love the music and so much cool art! Congrats!
This game is GORGEOUS, just top notch, all the detail in the animations and polish is astounding. Great work to all involved!
Really nice entry! It's surprisingly addictive, and I love the detail in the sound effects! Congrats
Nice take on match 3! Cute graphics and effective audio too. Good job!
Wow, this is such an effective and simple design, instantly fun and addictive. Congrats!
OK, this was hilarious. I want a choice of gran name in all my games now!
I enjoyed this, fairly simple mechanic, but the zooming around felt good and it seemed hard but fair in terms of balance. Congrats to the team!
This was brilliant! The voice over work is really nice (although striclty from a technical stanpoint I wish the audio quality on the witch matched the STELLAR quality of the protagonist's recordings). I really love it when so much thought is put into making a full experience at a jam, and you did just that, with plenty of polish too. Music was very nice(and coherent despite having two composers!), and using the length of each segment as an indicator of when the switch would come to time some of the jumps was particularly satisfying. All in all, great work to the whole team, enjoyed this one quite a bit!
Ooooh this reminded me of the tricks they do in Peggle to use musical sounds as SFX that fit to the soundtrack. The approach in this case of keeping the music in one key makes it feel a bit static, but trying to devise a system that would adapt to moving harmonies is sort of beyond the scope of a jam (although not impossible if you're crazy enough...). Did you use FMOD? It often has issues with WebGL, so it's possible some folks are experiencing some of that (I've had some trouble with that in the past on more ambitious audio implementations for jam games). I think the pinball idea is really nice, and ramps up well. Perfect scope for a jam, congrats to the team!
@benk yeah I always include a loading scene to my WebGL builds to be sure that the Fmod banks arenāt missing on start. All in all, I still think the added features of middleware are worth the extra effort (and slightly subpar web builds). Platform specific compression settings have helped too btw
192 year, all hail the panda god! Seriously though, this was really cute, nice take on the theme and a cool design all around. Congrats!
Took me a minute to understand the inventory mechanic, but it works very well. I especially like the art style, it almost has a Tim Burton vibe to it. The puzzles were effective, a very nice entry indeed, congrats to the team!
What a vibe! I liked that the game revealed itself over time, first thinking it's straightforward tamagotchi, then discovering the harvesting, then the family meta layer. I also liked the soundtrack, it's VERY minimalistic, but creates the sense of unease you're going for really effectively. A very good submission indeed, congrats!
@nani @jeremyfa thanks for your sweet comments on the sound/music, always happy when people notice my work, Iām glad you enjoyed the game and took the time to let us know!
@benk thank you so much, ālike a Pixar chase sequenceā is quite the compliment and is pretty much what I was going for (specifically I wanted ā80s/90s kids movie chase/scary sequenceā, so perilous but still whimsical). You are correct, the highest point with the trombones is a bit over the edge, I think I just got a bit over enthusiastic š. Thanks for playing and for your very kind words!
@dans17 thanks for playing and for your kind words! I mostly used Spitfireāa BBC Orchestra, and a couple things from projectSAM for the music. Glad you enjoyed it!
Good job given such a limited time frame! The art is cute, and the gameplay simple/effective enough. I do wish you'd opted out of the audio rating category since you didn't make the music or sounds yourselves.
Wow the level of polish here is superb! Simple and effective mechanics, great art and music, a fantastic submission all around, congrats!
What a great idea! Really smartly designed puzzles with nice scaling difficulty. I enjoyed this one a lot, congrats!
Really enjoyed this one! Took me a while to understand I had to repair the horn, and getting all the coordination right takes some practice too. The art is really nice as well! Congrats on a perfect little jam game!
Love this, it's so pretty, and sounds great too! I would just have liked a slightly more achievable goal, once you've seen all the mechanics it becomes a grind. Very good entry, congrats!
This is a compelling puzzle, cute graphics and a nice reverse take on the theme. Congrats!
