I like the simplistic look of the game. Good job!
The mood of the game is good, I don't like that to change the attack direction, I have to move in that direction, I can't just press the key near the wall. Otherwise the game is a complex maze and I have to say that I think everyone got lost there :)
Nice game. Everyone has already seen screen wrapping, but with moving camera it's actually much more interesting. And the effects pretty much compensate the simple graphics. Overall - very good job!
I enjoyed the game, however, the loading bar in the exit is hard to see as it is bright yellow on white. I must say that I like the game and really enjoyed the concept, however, pathfinding has its problems (I had the player running into a wall when I tried to get to one of the doors. Overall, very positive experience of a game well made!
I love the voice, I really enjoyed it. Only thing that annoyed me about the game was trying to pick up the items. Maybe try slightly increasing the pickup radius? Overall, really positive experience!
Awesome game, I personally like horror games and it has such a great scary atmosphere although it's a 2D pixel-art game, which can't be seen very often. I loved the way it went and I strongly recommend you to ~~play our game~~ continue with development of this. For three-day work, this is incredible.
This is pretty original, although I though it won't be when I saw the title. I really enjoyed the game!
I really like the game. The mechanics are awesome, I think there can be a lot more levels made with this as this is good enough start for many ideas :)
I really like the footprints idea and the mood and atmosphere of the game. I didn't really understand the story, but it's probably because it's too deep for me :)
Thank you very much for your replies, we're so glad to hear you liked it. We have a lot more plans with this game since this was our first game jam and first finished project, we're considering adding story and more interesting mechanics such as box pushing :)
@spawncampgames we are planning on adding it. We originally had it in our spreadsheet, but we were forced to ditch it for LD because the game broke down few hours before finishing. We are planning to finish the game once LD is over, and this function will be included
Had problems with controls as the tank for some reason tended to teleport about a quarter of its size back every time I moved forwards (maybe a bug). I enjoyed the game and liked the style, but please, make the bullets move faster than tank (it mildly infuriated me when there was a bullet I fired right behind my tank because I like shooting while moving)
Interesting idea, one big loop and everytime you do something else. Maybe just after a while the parts become a bit repetitive, but that doesn't affect the cool idea.
I enjoyed the game, but please, is here a possibility of less detail? I was unable to find any way to decrease the detail and my PC unfortunatly didn't manage to run it smoothly :(
Interesting game. The text is a bit too long at some places and you get get a bit lost in all that information, but overall good job for making this text adventure!
The concept of this game is unique an visual effects are very well made and very polished and I really enjoyed playing it on the stream. You have to export this for mobile platforms!
Really cool entry! Loved the graphics and putting all the final round themes in the dialogues was so funny xD! Overall great game :)
The graphics of this game are spot on, I loved all the small details you put there. Story is also amazing and overall nice interpretation of the theme!
Amazing game, I'm speechless! Really enjoyed playing it, everything is spot on! (Although I'm not very good at it lol)
I had a really hard time learning all the controls, maybe include some pop-up controls in the menu? On the second level, there is just too much lag for me to play properly further, it is simply unbeatable the moment the frame rate drops, maybe try improving the performance.
I love horror games and the jumpscares scared crap out of me! Very cool looking evironment and cool lighting. Really enjoyed it!
@viperux
Thanks for the feedback! We really tried to prevent any possible bugs in the game and deal with all the problems we've had. We've had a lot of time left, unlike last LD . We're really glad you enjoyed everything and your attention for every details is just awesome! You don't see many people like this.
Once more, thank you very much!
P.S.: Amazing highscore! Our beta testers generally got <100. For the sake of testing easter eggs, we have reached 2021 levels, but it was a lot of a pain.
Yep, unfortunately  (You have to make the game public)
I really enjoyed this game, innovative and simple! I really like it, great work! (Though I would recommend adding a restart button in the future, I didn't discover any)
love the early 2000s platformer vibe that I see, I find myself trying to redo the second level not being able to pass it but very fun.
loved the mood theme and design alot but unfortunately I could not figure out how to play it lol.
loved the artstyle and the gameplay, I find it very fun sprinting for some extra fuse so I can just move a few extra steps to the cake. Great concept in general.
Hello @antti-haavikko, thank you for playing our game and having a constructive critique. This game is an infinite arcade, thanks for notifying me, I added it to the description as apparently, I forgot to do that when uploading do to other trouble back then (see our feed for reference). Regarding the controls, I am really sorry it wasn't to your likining.
And finally, about the barrels, the borders are made in a way, that the barrels are always recoverable (they are set up to not fall down the ladder or clip to the corners to the extent they are unrecoverable. Also, the barrels roling can not block you in a place, only slow you down, as your player is a bit stronger. Only moment, where the barrels are to restrict your movement, is, when you are pushing them upwards with the ship moving, and that one was intentional.
We ourselves didn't encounter the problems with the barrels you described, being pushed to places where they can not be recovered, could you maybe please specify on that one, as it may be a bug (I tried multiple runs just trying to move the barrels to unrecoverable positions and every time, I managed to recover them).
Sincerely thank you for your feedback, I will try to find out what issue with the barrel was in your case!
@zapdos2 thank you for your review.
The waiting period is long for a simple reason. We originally intended to make it long only in the first playthrough so the person can orient itself in the environment.
Unfortunately, due to a problem with one member of our team bailing on us, we spent the last few hours doing different things and the timing mechanism was never implemented.
I'm sorry for the inconvenience, we eventually hope to add few more tweaks here and there after the LD ranking ends.
I enjoyed the game really much, though I have the reflexes of a potato. I would recommend changing the note in the description, to that fullscreen is "needed" rather than "recommended", because at least in my case, the keyboard input worked only in fullscreen.
Indeed a very unique idea. I enjoyed the game, though I lost few first games because I wasn't really sure about the controls, maybe a small intro would be eventually in order. Else, a really fun concept that is enjoyable to play! Great job!
This is actually very fun and original game, the music is (at least for me) spot on and fits the theme perfectly.
One thing I would probably change a bit is that you can basically run "through" the mom and then it becomes easy to actually delay the bedtime indefinitely. Otherwise great concept and great execution, I would see this becoming possibly some even little more expanded game.
Wow, I mean at first it didn't look like, but that escalated quickly! Perfect take on the theme I'd say, it is actually hard to last some time (my best is like 1:10 or something lol).
Just one thing I'm not sure about, it looks like the shredder stopped working after a while in the web build so I wanted to ask whether that's something intentional or not.
I don't want to repeat all the other comments here, but you give me no choice. This game is short, but there is so much precision put in it actually that I don't mind at all.
Really like the pixel-art in 3D, but what stands out the most are definitely the SFX and ambience. You gave this a true horror vibe and the atmosphere is made just perfectly.
This was a really interesting experience, the game itself is pretty polished. Voice acting was perfect to be honest, but I have to agree with @antsa about the sensitivity though. After finishing the game, I'm still not so sure whether I fully understood the story correctly or not, but the mood is definitely a plus and for me it is the main point of this game. Keep up the good work and I hope to play more of your games in next LD jams!
I seriously enjoyed playing the game. It is a really great concept and a rather interesting twist on the topic, though I had some problems later in the game, when the controls didn't allow me to really point at some parts of the rift to glue it. But again, a really enjoyable game!
@christian-zommerfelds
Thank you for all the descriptive feedback! We'll definitely try to learn from some mistakes we did in later jams or development ☺️
May I ask you when does the bug actually happen, whether you restarted the level before? So we can try to possibly fix that. (edit: so far i tried to replicate the bug but didn't manage to)
Anyways, thank you again and we're glad you liked it!
@joe-cowman
Thank you for playing the game and giving some constructive feedback. Nice to see you actually like the meaning behind the game and the mechanics!
Everyone in the team already agreed with carrying on with development of this game, we still have a lot of ideas that aren't present yet and we'll definitely consider your sort-of-undo-button suggestion.
@christian-zommerfelds It is a thing that we are planning on adding. This game is far from finished, we are currently working with 7-9 different mechanics for some future pillars as we hope to expand the game once LD is over. Adding in a negative example and making the controls cleaner was a thing that we originally planned on doing, but failed to do so due to time pressure mounting. Thanks for your commentary!
@SugarSugarSugar hello! I am happy you enjoyed the game. The general idea of the game is a methaphor of how the race against people is futile - throughout the game, you see hints, that your work is only delaying the inevitable, and in the end, the methaphorical regime you were protecting falls. Hope this clears it for you
@roka-josh We are happy you enjoyed it! An undo button is a thing we are currently planning to implement, along with at least 5 more columns, into a final game that we hope to release outside of LD50. Those paragraphs are not essential to the game and as said before, they are more used to explain the metaphors to the fullest. Thinking of it, I will be adding a note to itch.io page that reading those is not essential to gameplay...
@sibi Hello! I am happy that you enjoyed the game and that you liked it! The message is rather the opposite actually - we hoped to explain by a dialogue, that no matter what the people in power do, the columns would eventually fall, leading to a democracy, which we tried to underline in the final cutscene as well as the dialgues at the end of each section.
@saintchristopher777 Actually, that is one of the columns we didn't manage to indroduce in time :D Simply said, we are planning on at least five more columns in the finished games, each with yet another mechanic, as well as expanding on the ones already in game. That pun has not been missed, we were forced to postpone it, but I can promise you, that it is coming in the final out-of-ld50 game for sure!
@boxedmeatrevolution Happy you enjoyed the game, I will quote myself trying to explain the theme: "We hoped to explain by a dialogue, that no matter what the people in power do, the columns would eventually fall, leading to a democracy, which we tried to underline in the final cutscene as well as the dialgues at the end of each section." Hope this explains it. I must admit in some places, it is too metaphorical and might have overshadowed the theme, but it is too late to do much about it now...
Nice game, though I probably have to agree that the card stacking is pretty easy, it makes a nice concept and it's well executed, without any bugs, removing some houses or balancing of the incoming cards could solve the problem I guess but it's a perfect game to just relax and enjoy.
Good work, enjoyed playing it, though some parts landed too close to home for me. Only negative I can think of is, that I really really really want to eat a cake now and I have none...
I've clearly enjoyed the game, it is a fun concept and I must admit, that I spent longer than I originally intended, trying to better my highscore. Great job!
Oh my god... I'm here after April's 'Moth' (which was super intense lol) and I feel like you are going to carry on with the one-minute game theme in the next Jams... :D
Now let's get to rating this. Interestingly enough, I would not really call this a game, this is a pure satisfaction created just by mouse clicking and moving. The effects are really well made and the mood is definitely great! It's also nice to see one person to actually make both 2D and 3D game in two Ludum Dare Jams. There is a good point in @sliphtrex comment - if the tiles spawn infinitely, I wouldn't have to restart it every time I want to start over. Other than that I think this is quite effective minimalistic take on this LD's theme. Sometimes simple is just better.
@beefsock Thank you, I really appreciate your feedback! I really thought about how long should the restart take and I settled on it not being so fast just to make some room for the player to think what they actually want to do in the next 10 seconds. I'm kinda sad I was being limited by the theme a little, because some longer periods of no restart can be healthy for the game.
Anyways I'll see whether I want to continue to work on this game - since my code this last day was super messy and it would be pretty annoying to optimize - but there are so many more ideas on this I've had in my mind...
Edit: I just remembered how I enjoyed your LD50 game! Definitely going to give your newest entry a try too :)
@black-potion Thanks for playing :D
I was really aiming for making everything intuitive and try to add the ability to clear everything player might ask! I agree - 10 seconds is a short period of time - but it was the theme, hope it wasn't too frustrating xD
I'll probably work on this more while removing the ten second timer entirely and making it a full-fledged game with some story if I come up with more ideas...
@krakadushka Thanks for the feedback
I definitely agree, being kinda restricted by the theme is a little bad in this case because I really wanted to keep the ten seconds there for the whole game, but if I would have more free choices, I would definitely do as you suggested.
Speaking about technical implementation - thanks for the compliment  - the last few hours were a bit hurried and it became kind of messy, but the fact you say it looks very good (I would say decent at most lol I can't make game art) means a lot to me. So thanks once more for the review!
There once was a ship that put to sea
The name of the ship was a Billy O' Tea
The winds blew up, her bow dipped down
Oh blow, my bully boys, blow (huh)
Soon may the Wellerman come
To bring us sugar and tea and rum
One day, when the tonguing is done
We'll take our leave and go
Quite a nice and short game, enjoyed playing it during the stream. I'm a little disappointed it didn't turn out to be a horror game, but I still enjoyed it pretty much.
Don't seem to understand how to run the game properly? Am I missing something?
Edit: Found it, but the game is very laggy for me, would downloading it work better?
The game is very polished and I really like this concept, where you innovated the 2048 a bit there. It definitely fits the theme very well and I enjoyed playing all the levels on my stream so much.
P.S.: There is a small bug where when you collide with two same-type veggies at once, it upgrades by two. But it doesn't happen a lot.
I would praise the visuals, but the attention to detail in this game is more stunning. Making use of every damn noise and small movement or anything to add atmosphere to the game, while keeping everything else simple and clear and fitting, is such an excellent touch! Besides that, I've loved stealth games as a kid!
P.S.: I'm still missing that precious piano I've lost driving away :slight_frown:
Had a lot of fun playing this! The controls feel very natural and I enjoyed the puzzles, which weren't so easy but weren't so hard either. I especially liked level 9, which intentionally leads you into a trap, just so you can realize you have to go the other way first.
@lcstark has already mentioned the only bug I encountered (only once I think), so I'll leave it be - who would expect a game without bugs, made in two days, right?
Mike lured me into the hole of betrayal. Mike is a deceiving piece of red T-shirt who will steal your faith in yourself. Don't be like Mike.
Good game though. I felt really stupid checking the wall behind myself after the first room and not the second. Interesting concept!
The idea in itself is very cool, but I don't particularly enjoy the execution that well. For me it is maybe a bit too frustrating to search on every single square to not find anything. Anything simple such as simple hints would do the trick for me. At the end, I just found myself going randomly and not even listening anymore. I believe though that with a little bit of tweaking, this could be a nice and interesting game.
I didn't rage I promise. But I really wanted to try to speedrun this, but it obviously needs much more practice and I don't have that much time now, especially when streaming. Other than that - loved the original visuals and unforgiving gameplay.
My main issue is noclipping into the floor randomly and uneven jump height (at least for me). Othe than that - great game
This game is quite nice - rather simple and interesting, although my laptop couldn't really handle it when more spheres started appearing (even worse when streaming lol) - it went downhill very quickly from there
Someone has already mentioned the problem with high sensitivity. I personally even use lower mouse sensitivity than most people I's say, so I see that as potential problem for some players.
Other than that - interesting take on the theme!
As a current WR speedrunner of The Password Game, this is really satisfying to see. I like the level of polish and simplicity of this puzzle game and have to say against it. Altough as you can expect, it isn't that much of a challenge so far compared to TPG. Amazing game nonetheless!
That's one hell of a cat! Impressive original take on the theme. Loved playing this on stream, it's just so much fun! Only thing I would add is to indicate the hitboxes/edges of the box more. Other than that, gameplay-wise it's perfect.
The game doesn't run for me (at least for now). I'll play it later if I manage to make it work somehow.
I really like the polished graphics and SFX in this game, and had a lot of fun just placing and moving stuff. However, the game needs more balancing - after a certain point, it is literally impossible to lose. I won't give any recommendations myself, since @cyber-puffin has described them perfectly.
Omggg loved this game - such a cute design and fun mechanics. Sometimes I found myself mashing stuff randomly but hey - it worked
I really like the concept of this game, actually feels like something that I expect from game jams. The controls and movement might seem a little bit clunky, but that's only my opinion, to be honest, I enjoyed the whole game and might speedrun it later (how tf does someone get 2:40 on this???)
Great entry. Glad I finally managed to play it.
I love the visuals of this game and the original idea of the gameplay. The connection to the theme, is quite small, but that doesn't matter that much. Love the polished look of the game and simple controls. The levels from 6 and on start to get really challenging quickly!
Good job!
@dock-frankenstein Thanks for the kind words! I really appreciate people enjoying it - especially finding another math enthusiast
Regarding the stars, I've actually never had a similar issue when trying. I am aware that some collisions may be bugged when moving faster, but other than that, the level select screen always displayed the correct amount of stars for me. You can share an image, although I don't think a simple screenshot is going to help me bugfix this particular issue. But I'll try!
@caryoscelus Might try to do that later today or possibly tomorrow. I still need to wrap my head around exports in Godot 4, since this is my first real time using this version...
@holyblackcat Yeah I'm gonna export it separately for Linux.
I hope...
@bastian-bresson Thanks for trying it out! To explain:
Imagine your point travel further and further to the right to infinity after pressing Enter. Then to finish the level, you have to make it so in infinity it reaches the value (vertical position) displayed on the sign in green.
The third screenshot on this page displays it pretty well - the exponential function approaches -2 as you go further and further (btw it never reaches it). Since -2 is a finite number, its represented by a green line.
@aweskybear Thank you for the feedback! You might actually get more since I am planning to work on this game a little bit more (my friend also told me he's interested in helping).
Regarding the two stars bug: I still have no idea why that happens to everyone but me 😅
Regarding the gameplay: I wish I had time to make more levels/mechanics, but I set my goal to 10 levels and wanted to do that as my main goal. And unfortunately that took longer than expected. Redefining a function yourself is certainly something, that would be possible in future levels, but when introducing the mechanics, I figured out it's better to use sliders for the variables in a formula (it's also much easier to code) to see what each of them was. But I was also thinking of two basic things to improve the game:
1. Red shapes/functions you can't pass through (would be funny to simulate the behavior in infinity lol)
2. Interconnected levels - you have multiple sub-levels within each level and you can travel between them via the limits.
Wanted to try to make number 1 during the jam but sadly didn't manage too.
@furano Thank you for the feedback. I'm glad you don't find the music annoying, since I didn't have time to extend the track
Regarding the movement, I decided to move the dot at a constant speed on x-axis, but I should've thought about tweaking that a bit more, thank you!
P.S.: I really, REALLY enjoyed your game.
@locke8 I heard some people found it a little hard, although I myself thought it was kinda too easy as well. But I did my best with what I've got done
Anyways, thanks for the feedback, glad you find it interesting!
@watoo45 @kris3 Glad you enjoyed
@maximbegunov Thanks for the feedback! I started attending college this September, and it's quite funny since I was making the game during a lecture on limits
About the bug, I addressed it in the game's description on this page (I still don't exactly understand the issue, works just fine on my laptop  ). Might try to re-export the game and see what future players will have to say, but I am convinced it is exactly the same export I myself have.
@nicename Thank you very much for the feedback! Regarding the slider, there is an arrow pointing at it, did it render properly? Or do you mean that it was still kind of low opacity?
Ah okay thanks 👍, should've made the red more visible that's a fact...
@javasaurus @3mpty Thanks for giving my game a try!
@ellaris GeoGebra? :laughing:
@suvi Thanks for the feedback! Definitely going to change the speed of the dot in post-jam version.
Btw glad your stars work ✨
@konfext Glad you liked it! Love hearing every bit of new feedback!
About the controls, there's an arrow in LVL2 pointing at a slider, but the GUI is broken for some people so it might have not shown...
@wendel-scardua This **positive** comment kinda **diverges** from the others, huh? I really **value** your **point** of view. I see **maximum** effort put in - definitely **cos()**t some time!
Nice take on turn-based strategy genre combined with the theme. Definitely a solid first game jam entry!
Nice and cute game! Although you mentioned you aren't really artists, I love the sketchy style and you actually inspired me to try out similar style visuals myself (maybe next jam, who knows?). And puzzle genre is probably one of my favorite existing game genres. Good job!
I really liked this game and it's challenging puzzling concept. Didn't finish it yet, but I definitely want to. The controls feel natural and I like the faster movement which is essential in this game. Overall - a solid LD54 entry!
P.S.: I'm got some brain damage pls help :skull:
A fantastic game! Please continue working on this, you are so good storytellers and everything just feels so polished and natural (except maybe for the controls yeah  ). I have nothing to say here. The best LD54 game I've played so far.
You really should promote the game more in the feed. The game deserves it.
I like the idea of this game and that you can choose the movement of enemies yourself. But that being very time consuming I think enemies are spawning in much higher rates than I am able to handle. It definitely requires some strategy, but maybe one small suggestion would be to extend the wave timer or rework the stuck roll, since it does something like placing a new small wave, and enemies stack up quickly.
Other that what I just mentioned - lovely visuals and music and great idea and level of polish in execution. It's really hard to make a working game like that in just 2 days. Hats off
Really liked the idea of this game, it feels very unique and required quite some visualization from me. There is definitely some way of making the game even more friendly for people not that good at visualizing 3D, but I don't know whether that's the goal, so I won't say anything.
Overall, great entry executed with a nice level of polish.
Was trying to beat the record for over an hour.
To no avail. I've got a best of 39. (might try again later)
I didn't rage more during a LD entry.
boxedin.png
Honestly I love how addictive this game is, but there are still some small improvements to be made, especially with the purple circles, which are just incredibly unfair, since they kill you whenever they appear from outside the box (I suppose shapes have some 0.5 second countdown before becoming active, but since circles spawn outside, they are already active when getting in). And thus I marked the only real negative of the game - no signalization whatsoever. Some people might like it, but as I said, it just feels unfair in some circumstances (and also prevents me from encountering later shapes).
But I should not rate this game on a single fact like this. I love the perfect level of polish balanced with simplicity and clarity of the game. It's fun, I've played it on the stream and again a while ago, with 39 as my best (as mentioned above). Me being a passionate rage game player. This is something I have to give a try later again
Interesting entry, I can see you probably went the more stylish approach there, focusing more on rendering and character model than on more complex mechanics. It's actually really easy to win the game quickly if you just spam left and right mouse button (I'm a speedrunner, I realized that VERY quickly lol).
But in general, nice entry with interesting theme to it.
Nice little game and I enjoyed playing it and getting used to the mechanics. I like really the unrestricted nature of ladder placement and being able to develop a certain strategy.
However I think the game could maybe be more balanced, which - in this scenario - I understand is really hard to achieve because there are only four items to buy. At one moment i just kept spamming blue dynamite to get more blue dynamite (basically unlimited) and only failed because there might be a bug when buying stuff - sometimes it automatically places and uses it on the door. But that was something I would personally not care that much about I think. But there was other more important thing I mentioned on stream - I wished there was a healthbar so you would have to be careful when using your dynamite. I doubt it would be hard to implement and it is my only more serious critique.
Other than that - great game! (for your second game jam - certainly)
PLEASE make this a full game. It's so innovative concept (at least to me it seems) and although there is some degree of replayability, I want more! I feel like everything in this game is so good and polished, but the focus on the storyline maybe hindered the developement of some more "mechanics" or "levels". Doesn't mean there shouldn't be a story, but I myself would try to incorporate that in post-jam version and focus more on the playable part of the game.
P.S.: that 100MB file got me chuckle
