Great game! Love the art and the music. My only complaint is it felt super difficult to control. Not sure if I was just bad at it, but I took so much damage from running into walls.

cammin 2021-04-26 04:33

I really like the graphics. The music has a nice genesis feel. I really appreciate the checkpoints to accommodate for my reckless driving. Solid game with a great flow and presentation.

That sound design is godly! It really tied the whole thing together. The difficult controls really hurt the experience though, especially since you take damage for falling a little more than a single tile.

oeschmid 2021-04-26 18:38

The controls took a little bit to get used to, but once I came to really appreciate how the ship handled! It was fun having to both aim my ship to hit the enemies and consider my momentum so I don't crash. This is a fun one!

onnofal 2021-04-26 19:37

I was mostly descending just by hovering with cannons pointing upwards, so I can thrust with arrow up in order to decrease my falling speed. The other way around my brain failed to accept slowing down by pressing any other. But then when turning around towards enemies got slow and complicated. Definitely not easy to handle the ship.

Works very well anyway, and the music - I really like music present in compo games. Foreword quite long, you read it once and pretty fast, but still, you know that famous John Carmack quote, and here maybe really not necessary to be so verbose :)

Spoiler below, regarding the green text.

!> @onnofal I wouldn't normally have made the intro text as long, but then I had the idea of incorporating all of the final voting themes in the text, since many of them seemed to appear naturally. Should have probably made it simpler though, especially since nobody seems to be noticing, haha.

And yeah, the ship control takes some getting used to, it is inspired by games such as Sub-Terrania which had the same control scheme and were notoriously difficult.

Also thanks for the feedback @nisovin @cammin @cody-miner @oeschmid , much appreciated.

onnofal 2021-04-26 20:16

@vasco-freitas omg I did not get it with those themes at all, now I see, of course, hope I did not ruin the fun for others :)

vasco-freitas 2021-04-26 20:23

@onnofal Yeah I wasn't sure if I should've mentioned it, I included a spoiler warning and tag :)

Really tough game! I haven't figured out how to avoid hitting walls/aliens while simultaneously killing aliens

dragonsbeardgames 2021-04-26 23:08

Great game, enjoyed the balance of avoid gravity while trying to shoot enemies. Sometimes I just decided it was easier to land and then shoot haha. Had fun!

kurama-youko 2021-04-26 23:43

Good to see a HaxeFlixel game here! A good game, btw. Took me a while to get used to the controls, but then it made all sense.

andykswong 2021-04-27 06:59

The control is quite difficult, I had to move very slowly in some areas to avoid hitting the walls. I love that there are checkpoints which helps to balance the overall difficulty.

loig 2021-04-27 10:36

Finally made it. Quite challenging and difficult to let it go before finishing it! Congratulations!

Some timed escape after getting the miners could have been a good addition to the game. It would enforce some risky driving from the player (I must admit that I drove my ship very slowly and spent a lot of time not moving at all, holding on walls and shooting).

dpmzi 2021-04-27 19:17

Very nice touch that you don't take damage if you land smoothly Like a few others I too found the backwards thrust a bit hard to comprehend.

Feels like you've balanced things pretty well during your 48 hours. You have good music, sound, graphics, controls, and a nice difficulty curve going on. Good job!

Nice entry with great graphics

milestone-games 2021-04-28 15:55

This was a nice entry! I liked the acceleration factor and sound effects!

notinatal 2021-04-28 15:59

Really cool entry! Loved the graphics and putting all the final round themes in the dialogues was so funny xD! Overall great game :)

aroningi 2021-04-28 16:33

I really liked the art and the game-play is fun and challenging. While the game is pretty difficult, it's not punishing because of the abundance of checkpoints and health refill, which made the game a lot less frustrating than it would have been with less of them.

I had a lot of fun while playing and I didn't really have any issues with it.

Great job :).

hypp 2021-04-28 17:57

Great game, but a bit hard to control.

squidly 2021-04-29 03:39

Fun ship control but I feel the over abundance of collisions prevents the game from reaching its potential. The bullets were far less of a threat than the walls and I found myself slowly crawling down shafts more often than not. Overall good base, but maybe higher the threshold for collision damage.

felo07 2021-05-07 00:08

The ideia is fun but the ship is very hard to control, maybe to change a lit bit the physics and make it smoother would help. nice entry

phoenix-fireflower 2021-05-11 12:49

Having to balance conrolling the ship and fighing gravity whilst shooting the aliens makes for good gameplay, though having to avoid crashing into the walls can become annoying in tight spaces.

100th-coin 2021-05-12 23:18

I love the artwork on the terrain! As mentioned, the tight terrain can be a hassle to navigate without destroying the ship, but I really enjoyed the game. Thank goodness this game has checkpoints, ha! I know for a fact there are other games just like this without checkpoints, and with a game as long as this one the inclusion of checkpoints is very very appreciated. Nice work!

Cute shooter with very classic feel to it. Well balanced in terms of difficulty and duration. The move/shoot control is rather difficult, it felt like I was shooting in the wrong direction. I would like more emphasis on shooting enemies rather than navigating the environment.
