LD43 — Sacrifices must be made

Omelettes by stevenjmiller 2018-12-19T21:08:51Z

This is really brilliant. As was already written, I very appreciate the level design slowly teaching you game mechanics, and also not too steep progression of difficulty. What is included is great and creates perfect mood (I even enjoy the silence only interrupted by subtle and decent action sound feedback), what is omitted is not missing. Perfection without what would be extra

Entry for 43rd Ludum Dare by burnedkirby 2018-12-20T13:17:32Z

The most crucial thing leading to play frustration has been mentioned so many times that I am not going to repeat it. But overall it works and it has one of the best sound and music I've came across this LD round (and extra points for LMMS), so - full rating from me there for sure. I guess this is your strong skill in general, I like that in the timelapse video you move to composing music as one of the very first things to begin with.

And I cheated, did not make it till the end, but listened to victory music track from the ogg file directly :) Thanks!

MutaJelly by negativice 2018-12-09T15:50:57Z

Nobody got crazy from that music yet? Same as the others I just soon ended up with jelly all around. Population needs some control (or next round: I would be alright with level ending pretty soon moving to another isolated challenge).

Also what I kind of expected at the very first attempts was that by splitting the jelly I also receive some temporary disadvantage - like small jellies being unable to fire or so. Then I would be forced more to make some strategy decisions and not just be hurried into splitting as soon as possible basically everything that is capable of it with it's size.

Anyway it is good, definitely enjoyable to play.

Unnamed Game by Zirrrus 2018-12-06T15:01:12Z

Looks nice, for a moment weirdly satisfying to juice down all those fruits and veggies

Lock-Tris by ckRobinson 2018-12-06T15:37:48Z

Not bad twists at all. Still more than the sacrificial one I like the "hold" one, no more waiting to get the long brick at the moment when it is most needed as being present always when I play Tetris.

Pretty solid for even more limited compo time. Would prefer the brick falling speed faster when triggered manually - I believe it may make the game play more dynamic.

RAT RACE by Butt 2018-12-06T16:19:28Z

I got it, very realistic life simulation. But I did not have the patience to go through the whole month to see what is going to happen. Job routine there killing me, mobile game in a game is definitely top.

WAYT by wsKilljoy 2018-12-19T22:00:49Z

Man, it took me like fifty attempts to get through the first little gap behind the first wall. And of course to miss the exit and die immediately after. And I've tried again another twenty times without success, and I promise I will give it one more cycle when I finish typing this - if not for anything else then for the very interesting music(!), but the gameplay is really too cruel - and I am definitely not good at it.

Sacrifices in the Cat Yard by Lex 2018-12-06T18:59:16Z

Yes! This is it! Not just because of the cat, it works perfect overall. I like such game mood since playing the IBM's Alley Cat, which was probably one of first games I've ever played at all. If I want to ever create anything close to this topic, and it is one of my long time ideas, I wish I will be able to make as good as your 48 hour entry :) And those tail moves!

Third by onnofal 2018-12-06T19:21:31Z

@codesity Oh I agree with you; I could not think of anything else you would want to sacrifice less, thats why such subject. They respawn, no harm done :) Thanks for playing!

Third by onnofal 2018-12-17T18:41:29Z

@pcmaster Thank you!

Ascend by Amour Du Pain 2018-12-19T22:46:13Z

Last game for my playing session today and I am happy that the day is ending with your entry. What exactly is a game.. I cannot say. I definitely enjoyed this ambient piece, it is a pleasure to control while listening to the music - excellent match together. Reminding me some Philip Glass works.

Omelette Adventure by New Puldrix 2018-12-06T15:26:06Z

Agreeing with what is already mentioned. Very smooth game play design, it is naturally challenging. With nice use of time slowdown, pretty nice graphics (especially explosions) too. Great fun overall.

Sacricent by Pompi Pompi 2018-12-09T15:17:05Z

There is something very disturbing about the world and it's inhabiting creatures (well including the playable one), while it is also the thing I like probably the most. Very original, simple but still somehow making tense atmosphere. Even simplest sounds would definitely help to have some feedback, I was not sure at the beginning if my spits actually do any harm to enemies, and/or if jumping on creatures does. Maybe leveling enemies slower too - by having some level 0 with one hit enemy just not to scare you off with current one, that is pretty tough to begin with.

LD44 — Your life is currency

Drowning in the Rain by OddballDave 2019-04-29T16:29:05Z

It really catches the eye.

Still need to admit I did not finished and gave up. I've been playing WebGL, experienced poor performance and having frustration from vertical mouse opposite to what I am used to, when I've stuck at one moment I've just lost patience.

Anyway I immediately got attracted and enjoyed the style and atmosphere. Autobiographical element makes it more than just a game.

(Linux version crashes when playing first sound same as the Win one reported before)

Oscilloscope by Shard 2019-04-29T15:20:32Z

The idea is truly original and visual perfectly seconds. But honestly I am unable to develop a correct strategy, my solutions are far from perfect. I fail at this kind of science :penguin:

Journey to the unknown by Dev Dennis 2019-05-01T14:21:05Z

The character control is a bit weird, some clumsiness fits the dreamy mood, but the acceleration in the middle of jump phase, while already being in the air.. I cannot see reason for it. Still the whole rest is impressive, mood indeed really well built, art and music shining.

Might of the Druids by candlesan 2019-05-04T10:53:54Z

Yep, definitely leaderboard made me try again and again and is overall great feature, at the end being happy with result of 70k, which as I see can be still much improved. This is really good well balanced game, nicely fitting the theme, cards are smart and always coming some new giving a lot of options and space for strategy. I also feel all the technical work done under the hood and I am impressed.

Giving some highest ratings so far this LD round to your game. Just not for the art. But I have understanding for this *compo* kind of it, maybe I would not be charmed by your entry so much if it would be looking *some other way, maybe professional, but ordinary*

Ghosts by sunnray 2019-05-01T14:09:02Z

I stopped by attracted by visual style and it is the same thing that kept me in the game being curious about what is the point. I managed to successfully end, I guess I know what the `important thing` is, I came back to try second time, but I cannot say it is easy or obvious. I missed some feedback of collecting memories, was not sure if I am doing right or not, also the trade.. I am not much expecting answer, maybe it would spoil something to others, but still not sure what the `trading` part is about at all. Anyway I like something about this entry

LIFEBLASTER by gwinnell 2019-04-29T15:46:29Z

Cool custom engine! Character control feels natural and you get immediately into action. Music rocks. The rest gets repetitive but still pile of good job well done. Has some spirit

LIFEBLASTER by gwinnell 2019-04-29T15:47:58Z

Also being fan of vignette implemented this way, maybe it is common practice in pixel arts but I would definitely not come up with this idea

Coin Boys by maxr00 2019-04-29T16:55:05Z

First I was like wtf am I just playing. Then I realised its like reading some fun short story. Thanks for making such a -thing- I like experiences like this

Torture For A Living by Yorsh 2019-05-12T17:16:44Z

If I take it seriously, wtf did I just play? :) But nicely crafted, pretty awesome animations and sounds as well. Screen ratio and controls really make feel like having in mind option of mobile release; in that case I may consider switching the buttons and battle ground areas vertically, buttons down to thumb reachable area. And repeating: those animations! very solid

I D E N T I F T Y by Psychedelia 2019-05-01T15:21:20Z

I've been waiting for this entry whole jam and not being too nosy about the story was worth the experience now; better than all expectations.

ㄟ( ・ө・ )ㄏ

Meaningful Life by Belea 2019-04-29T14:21:26Z

Wow. I don't want to spoil anything to others, so I just keep being silent here. I like this approach to.. jam game, world, life?

Gain by deshipu 2019-04-29T16:00:48Z

I was walking around trying to figure out what is the point, but I got it. It is waiting outside the house for you to pet :D

Super soul wipeout by Korteh 2019-05-01T09:27:26Z

This is highly playable entry. Looks great and the audio helps to set correct retro atmosphere as well.

Just not rarely I encounter uncollectable souls. Bad in time when I was in a need of it and when gameplay switched from crazy shooter to carefully sneaking around and counting every shot fired. And when I cannot pick up a third one, I feel it is not fair and I blame it for my very end - I would probably die in next first or second room anyway, but you probably got my frustration.

RoShamBo ++ by Von Vista 2019-04-30T08:03:15Z

Pretty smooth animations and transitions, beginning with the opening 3V logo; I feel all the work needed to be done on those. The game iself will honestly not keep me entertained for long, but the dimension of getting some practice or skills fulfilled.

And I always appreciate music in compos.

Polar Delivery by onnofal 2019-04-28T21:17:56Z

@siebenmik Hi, I've tried to build it but I haven't tested it properly (and unfortunately will not have a chance before end of compo), so if there are some major troubles, maybe as post-mortem version. Thanks

Polar Delivery by onnofal 2019-04-29T14:01:24Z

@shp @belea Thanks for testing and playing

Ad the mouse invert option, its essential to those few of us used to it :) I miss it while playing other LD entries pretty often

Polar Delivery by onnofal 2019-04-29T16:42:22Z

@siebenmik Sorry to hear. Is there anything unusual in your system configuration or any idea? I am confused how it works for others and not for you, and honestly nothing serious or hacky happening there with Unity input then reading the value :)

Polar Delivery by onnofal 2019-04-29T17:04:14Z

@p0nce Absolutely :) If there is another feature ever coming, it is fishing in the meantime. Even just as an optionable fun part.

Polar Delivery by onnofal 2019-04-30T15:40:55Z

@nettaigyo in post-submission version you may now tweak mouse sensitivity by hitting 1..5 keys :v:

Polar Delivery by onnofal 2019-05-01T17:10:16Z

@tamail Thanks, really appreciated, great time there and see you next time .)

Polar Delivery by onnofal 2019-05-12T17:37:13Z

@yorsh Interesting trouble, I've tried to profile it and I see a significant peak of Unity UI layout taking 0.5ms every change of this crosshair tip, in the rest of the overhead seems like negligible, but probably isn't somehow on your configuration. Really nothing else much going on there that moment than switching on and off image and label, would never expect this causing lags. Thanks for reporting

Bloodletter by shp 2019-04-29T13:03:50Z

I like the framerate it runs and the Quake character control is the ideal. For those who needs vertical mouse invert as me, put `m_pitch` in console - yes there's quake one, and some negative value of your choice. Solid, what is there works and looks and feels great.

Love Your Heart by teo989 2019-05-09T11:06:48Z

Major downs already pointed out by others, and you know about those anyway - totally understanding that not everything may fit in the compo scope to polish till the end. Otherwise pretty nice how to squeeze original atmosphere with very minimal graphical objects. Neon glow always work on me.

Xtrem Soviet Builder by Dukes 2019-04-30T07:47:37Z

Road project leaving countless dead bodies around? Story location fits. And indeed the strategy dimension works well.

Coin Platformer by sillyman987 2019-04-29T15:24:59Z

I won! ..and yeah still respect for participating and delivering something actualy playable

Transfert by p0nce 2019-04-29T16:17:56Z

Music is top and the atmosphere built being very convincing. Regarding the gameplay, the direction switching mechanic is making it feel a bit weird for me. Because of protecting the larva, I more focus on it while playing than the ant. And a change of walking direction suddenly means teleport. But it is a minor drawback, still overall impressive.

Cats Without Cars by B33Thr33 2019-05-02T07:26:55Z

It is lovely, and also very difficult for me - in about ten attempts to play I think I've shot down a single cat. Pity I dont experience any music and I was really looking forward hearing it when reading there is supposed to be kick-ass one present; only effects and meowing :) for me. Will come back and try on another computer and OS. Looks so good that it's easy to remember. Btw nice timelapse, adding a personal touch.

Cats Without Cars by B33Thr33 2019-05-02T16:52:02Z

@413x It was Win10, and I've tried on two machines: both musicless. Now on Linux I hear it finally, really fits, but I still keep failing same as before :)

Thanks for interest in fixing it, but I am afraid I cannot much help pointing something more out, and it's funny since it looks like nobody else has such a trouble.

Boxes Rush by Mia Devs 2019-04-29T14:42:57Z

I like the mouse cursor :) The environment is chill, but same as @harry-damm I am unable to do enything else than Exit. Need to come later

SURVIVE tonight by YaHUB 2019-04-29T14:38:03Z

Looks good, plays good, pretty good! Cursor bug is alright when you know about it before playing, but I'd say it would be worth fixing and making another post deadline upload, if you mark it as separate it is pretty fair. More people coming to play

Back to the game.. I would appreciate some enemy slaughter effect, even single sprite when it is defeated would make it alive and more fun to smash them

Heartreasure by nettaigyo 2019-04-30T08:31:49Z

Very cute scenery and drawing. The Web version was unfortunately pretty silent, I've heard only the piano keys, or is it just my experience? I really did not want to give up and tried my best finishing, but left the game desperate with 25, some of hearts felt already tiny and hidden - but I guess that's the point :)

LD45 — Start with nothing

Little Something by Meta-link 2019-10-09T07:36:33Z

This is awesome, as idea for LD this stands out. Not that I would meet there anyone, maybe it does not even work like that? But spent some time there planting some things and thinking about them being synced to others is refreshing. Also very cute potato cat.

One And All by burnedkirby 2019-10-08T19:38:06Z

I am fine with "no game", it is still fun and those few sentences build more solid atmosphere than many other entries does. Music is great and I always appreciate it in Compo - and starting to regret I've entirely skipped creating some this time myself. I like, and before reading other comments I decided to take note to myself, that next time I may not limit myself with narrow approach of classic game concepts and should, if able to, try something more out-of-the-box. As this toy

No.thing by adliberum 2019-10-07T07:43:23Z

Very minimalistic, but hey you used your skills and time, participated and delivered. For me always counts. Enjoyed playing, kind of enjoyed the HTML visited-anchor highlighting to have a sneak look under the hood to avoid places I've been already in.

A shroomy adventure by thetatautau 2019-10-09T08:00:59Z

Very nice work with those animated plants, particles, effects and graphics overall. The moment everything grew up was beautiful, too bad for complete silence, but understood and fine. Need to admit I gave up where the spider queen was nesting - took me a lot of effort and many repeating attempt to get there and I did not find a way around avoiding inevitable touch with her and end of my adventure. I may return for the penguin later .)

A shroomy adventure by thetatautau 2019-10-09T09:24:19Z

@thetatautau Thanks for help, totally missed the double jump - went back as advised, but I did not decoded "feeling even lighter" :) Now I can't understand how was I able to get there at all. And the adventure continues better and larger than expected!

:mushroom: :penguin:

PHILTER by Psychedelia 2019-10-08T08:00:03Z

Seems like a simulator of my before-LD45 Thursday night :)

Strange Adventure by randdir 2019-10-08T08:16:34Z

Looks great, works well together with music (I know, but good choice of it anyway) for building up solid atmosphere. Then things happen

The Whole Lot by onnofal 2019-10-08T08:10:20Z

@adliberum @cpokered @kromeboy @okkolobr @randdir @tasakasama Thank you all for playing, while I apologize for that single minute lasting gameplay. This LD I was happy to finish and deliver something at all. I believe for few additional rooms I would need few more hours while still not sure if the puzzle will begin to be little bit more challenging (which now.. well is not much :)

The Whole Lot by onnofal 2019-10-09T08:04:25Z

@hastro Great point, I was taking it more as a flaw, that the desk may seem to be able to overlap something low and isn't. But implementing as a generic mechanism would make crazy messy puzzles possible. Thanks!

The Whole Lot by onnofal 2019-10-29T16:27:15Z

@smileyface Yep, absolutely, I feel the same about controls. In addition to weird snapping the whole 'vertical' movement is bad - I got trapped while making translation from 2D mouse movement into 3D world coords and did not make it quite as I would like, but needed to abandon and keep going to deliver anything at all :)

@upsitesdown Unfortunately I don't see it likely now, but who knows :) I will definitely let you know. Thanks

and also @fatsheep @romibarbosa

Many thanks to you all for playing and comments, I was out and without reach of PC, but now back and going to play and rate your entries few hours before countdown hits!

Keyz Goblin by TheWustache 2019-10-10T14:29:54Z

Oh, how this make you suffer..

SpaceDrifter 4500 by SharkWithLasers 2019-10-10T11:52:54Z

It is well balanced. And mainly aesthetics are for me what this little gem is about. I love to see the ship not turning smoothly by design, not that it easily could not. I feel some art direction in it overall, knowing what you try to achieve.

Lunar Layover by hastro 2019-10-09T08:13:04Z

Well same as others I did not survive for long and agree with nice atmosphere and visuals. I basically believe that if you need to study mechanics before launching the game, it narrows your audience to only hardcore fans :) I tried and failed anyway. But anyway, if it is your first LD entry and first finished project in whatever engine or new technology, honest congratulations. It ended up pretty great.

TailWhip by JengaMang 2019-10-09T15:23:22Z

This is impressive. I like a lot. A was playing Asteroids on a museum piece of Vectrex console few months ago and I am really having a thing for those. Idea based on that recent experience: if I am not wrong, those old school vector displays did not have just an awesome smoothness for which we have cool resolutions now, but also specific glow. If you may add just a bit of some fine adjusted bloom, it may be even more yummy

Blank by MoebiusMeow 2019-10-10T14:39:34Z

Very dreamy and extraordinary. Overall I agree with good direction of music, but for such visual style it sounds very robotic and rough. Don't understand me wrong, it is not bad at all, just together with very nice atmosphere it is the only cheapo midi impression that disbalances the entirety ♥

LD46 — Keep it alive

Birdie Burglars by DDRKirbyISQ 2020-04-21T10:14:20Z

Honestly I went here already with expectation of excellence and was pleased again. You both know very well what you are doing and I am always amazed how you are able to craft it into perfection in limited jam time.

Catapult by the.jahn 2020-04-20T14:17:04Z

This is a great tiny smooth gameplay entry. Played pretty quick till the end and enjoyed. I like the character's bit of autonomy, how it keeps walking and turning around when reaching wall a the neat drawing style .)

Life On Mars by Yorsh 2020-04-23T17:55:31Z

Great game. Fun combination of 2D and 3D - and it works. Non-trivial implementation of scanning, pretty unique. Nice fitting the theme.. and I really like it. And yeah, I sometimes feel I am being punished by the game, being put in situation with no chance of overcoming it, but whatever, it works, can be balanced later, jam is short a this is inspiring in a way what all is possible - being a compo entry I am quite impressed what all is packed in.

Flowdating by spthiel 2020-04-23T15:08:56Z

Playing this fun game does not last long, but leaves you in very positive mood :) And yep my first idea was also aiming to max out the bars.

Metamagotchi by onnofal 2020-04-20T18:07:45Z

Everone so far thanks a lot for playing and comments.

@listonos @kromeboy @chloeofarroyo @freya-c You all are totally right when addressing primitive gameplay or no proper challenge. The primary idea was to fork your attention into "maintaining two systems at once" and picking parts from some sort of palette was in my mind to. I was just unable to implement it fully and the Tamagotchi part at all :)

Metamagotchi by onnofal 2020-04-23T18:30:14Z

@bredian Oh two days of a gamejam are pretty enough for me, I probably need to stick to compos but learn from them so one day I manage to finish something solid :) Anyway thanks

Metamagotchi by onnofal 2020-04-23T18:54:06Z

@yorsh I totally knew that I am on a path to doom with time management but I could not help myself :) If I'd not count LDs I am not doing any graphics at all. And not that this'd be some big art, I just realized how I enjoy the drawing part as well (and yes I am no designer so I am incredibly slow at it), I just could not break the flow :)

Maybe I will come back later to finish it - there is more to add in a branch I am more skillful - considering it first time after a gamejam, so may happen. Thank you

Dad Day by mudlee 2020-04-22T18:15:51Z

This is great :) First game this LD making me laugh. Decided not to write all that was already mentioned and just rate, but later I came back to play more and discovered you can grab a baby through the wall! :D

Snowy Night by Roalinn 2020-04-24T15:16:27Z

Snowy Night is definitely winning in a `Mood` for me so far. It is a game, where you do not think about actually playing, you just ARE there, in the forest, with an urgent task. And that is what I like games being about.

Terraform Mars by TK07 2020-04-20T21:00:57Z

Very good experience controlling the ship around, it really feels the way I'd imagine real thrusters behavior. Died on orientational first try, successfully finished on second - well balanced. Was rewarded with fun terraforming visuals I cannot share not to spoil :) Looks good, works nice but the character control itself really stands out.

TERROID by theworldbuilder 2020-04-20T18:12:57Z

Its a pretty simple game, but it is balanced and works together. The shield is nice way how to implement a bit of strategy decision making. But mostly... it ROCKS!

Soulectron by Bredian 2020-04-23T18:26:56Z

Oh my ears! But don't understand me completely wrong I am very happy for the music being there at all and appreciate the try: it still adds some wicked spirit. Very difficult, I have a feeling I am sometimes pushed down (after moving up) by something invisible, or I am not understanding something well, so I gave up pretty quickly not passing the second level. But looks nice, works (more than I can tell about my entry). We all know here what kind of challenge is to deliver a game. Good job

DON`T DIE STAY ALIVE! by PenguinBob 2020-04-23T18:08:15Z

The game is genius in it's simplicity - in a way of old Nintendo game & watches. You can play it with 4 buttons, it keeps repeating the basic mechanic, but you can still have a lot of fun with it. Believe me if I'd have it as a kid in form of a handheld, I'd have played it all the time, and never get bored of it.

Single thing I'd tweak a bit would be having shafts of spears more forgiving your touch. Sometimes you really wait for the moment when you can already pass and I appreciate when there is more space for mistakes than being strict and exact.

And I love penguins.

Rewilding: The Story of Wolfhead Valley by ChloeOfArroyo 2020-04-20T18:35:27Z

Smooth and elegant, quickly played through, not too serious and still touching something important. One-bite game where only thing I feel as a pity is the complete absence of any audio. In this case it would be pretty cheap (just some ambience and some UI interaction) way how to level it even more up. Overall very nice.

Medusa by PrincessChooChoo 2020-04-22T18:22:31Z

There is so many truly original ideas packed in this little game. I was first impressed by Medusa herself growing and losing tentacles, but then two times surprised with twists exactly in a moment when I thought: yeah now I've probably seen it all what it offers. And this is excellent.

Castronaut by Teabag 2020-04-21T18:01:53Z

Very solid first game and jam entry. I would appreciate some indicator of current mode directly on the cannon, but that is just a tiny detail. Congrats

BUBBLE BOY by NEKORUMA 2020-04-22T07:09:33Z

Thanks for stopping by and playing my submission, leading me here to your one. Nice to see another Tamagotchi inspired one, but in your case finished into playable game - respect. You have all the mechanics and much more I wished for and didn't managed to implement

Music is repetitive but sets the correct mood, visually looks great and crossing-over with G&W is not bad idea at all :)

BUBBLE BOY by NEKORUMA 2020-04-22T07:15:00Z

Btw one particular detail I enjoy are gutters in-between pixels. Pretty essential for achieving the right LCD look.

LD48 — Deeper and deeper

The Root by Gao Ming 2021-04-28T19:20:27Z

I noticed in some of it's early stage on the main page and it immediately did attract my attention. I enjoyed the original curved path, but not missing it now when playing the final submitted entry. I like to find meaningful and well polished games like this here, such stand out.

The Fool's Descent by NicMagnier 2021-04-28T19:00:44Z

Looks simple, but there is unexpectedly a lot of mechanics in this game and it is progressing nice. No barriers, everything works and plays well. I did not event mention the arrow shooting, and that is important and very enjoyable. And as written, feels good to find out how stuff works myself.

Accidental teleporting back up did not bother me, but maybe the slowdown when I needed there to resupply, breaking my exploring (and arrow shooting - never enough of it and arrows running out so fast).

Dive by seanarooni 2021-04-28T18:44:37Z

Definitely hitting the fish.

Creative enjoyable entry. Art style is distinctive, music fits and is always appreciated in Compos.

Suluben by kromeboy 2021-04-26T18:24:41Z

At first I was confused, red plates are not evil, they are actually good ones! And the point is to get deeper, but to avoid gaps at the same time. Still I got it after a short moment. I also do not much enjoy the inertia of character, I think in such a game some non-physical based controller may work more snappy.

Nice tribute to the Nebulus, I loved it as "Tower Toppler" on DOS, that was an incredibly difficult game. I was surprised I haven't seen any modern approach to this yet, so congratulations that you are the first.

If I may have one more wish, I would populate the platforms with some more kinds of obstacles or enemies or anything challenging - often you need to move a long distance and it gets repetitive a slows down the pace.

Miner Rescue by Vasco Freitas 2021-04-26T19:37:37Z

I was mostly descending just by hovering with cannons pointing upwards, so I can thrust with arrow up in order to decrease my falling speed. The other way around my brain failed to accept slowing down by pressing any other. But then when turning around towards enemies got slow and complicated. Definitely not easy to handle the ship.

Works very well anyway, and the music - I really like music present in compo games. Foreword quite long, you read it once and pretty fast, but still, you know that famous John Carmack quote, and here maybe really not necessary to be so verbose :)

Miner Rescue by Vasco Freitas 2021-04-26T20:16:39Z

@vasco-freitas omg I did not get it with those themes at all, now I see, of course, hope I did not ruin the fun for others :)

A Shallow Dive by onnofal 2021-04-26T14:20:18Z

Thanks for playing. @kromeboy @zeppelingames I did not want to communicate it straightforwardly and let the player find the arm/launch pattern out, while getting through the first room. But seems like it is confusing :)

A Shallow Dive by onnofal 2021-04-26T19:10:02Z

@danga wow seriously? I worried about this, thinking about implementing some restart when this happens, but it would just reveal my bad puzzle design

@corporation true indeed, if there would be more levels than those two I fixed in last hour, definitely a good practice not to let you struggle through everything again and again

@adamwatters, @generalsturgeon and @vasco-freitas thanks, very appreciated

A Shallow Dive by onnofal 2021-05-03T11:54:58Z

@wuppos Many thanks, for playing and your time and efforts with a very detailed feedback. Nicely wrapping up all major flaws of the rushed design :) If I come back and reopen the project in the future, those should definitely be taken care of.

Deep Dark Discoveries by shp 2021-04-28T18:23:34Z

Very pleasant submission, it is balanced - no complains on thruster force or physics in general. Not too easy, no crazily difficult, with fine allowance for mistakes, I like that. Nice modelling too.

Interesting selection of engine. Funny you have a rich controls settings, but (I know I repeat myself with this) yet no way to let me invert mouse vertical axis. Quake's console and *m_pitch* to the rescue! In other submissions missing this option not that easily adjustable :)

There is something to see, not too deep, worth of descending!

Ocean Is Your Friend by Abu Sabiq Mahdi 2021-04-28T12:57:47Z

Looks awesome, sounds great, plays pretty good too. At first I did not understand completely either, but those gifs here say everything important in an eyeblink. The in-game tutorial is not bad, but to see it in action helps a lot: the whole visual is very neat and I like it a lot, the downside of it is that it does not make obvious what is clickable or draggable.

Also struggled working with the sliders as was already mentioned, but it is a very solid submission and so far my favourite one.

Drowning in debts by Drunk Wizard 2021-04-26T14:59:57Z

Very well, working and looking cool, interesting underwater fauna being revealed the *deeper and deeper* you get. Dash is an essential primary purchase, fish are pretty skilful in not being caught.

I've played on keyboard and missed the directional freedom of analog stick when hunting, I'd definitely recommend to try that way first.

Rogue Elevator by Danga 2021-04-26T20:05:26Z

Looks appealing, reasonable amount of bloom added, very good feeling of movement and dashing - tilting the camera on strafe is a hit.

Unfortunately I am unable to fully appreciate the action, I am used to inverted vertical mouse axis and here I am lost and unable to fight robots properly.

Way of the Lights by Becher 2021-04-28T15:38:35Z

Damn I like it a lot but at the same time I miss movement with arrow keys as alternative option to WSAD. If you are considering carrying on post-jam, it is worth finishing.

Tunnel Rats by GeneralSturgeon 2021-04-26T19:55:45Z

Yep it is definitely not easy and to simplify a bit would make the game more accessible, ^^ @ristoretto touched the point.

I got little trouble with the tiny fonts, especially when you want to read what your commander has to say in the middle of action. But I have already tired eyes from the LD weekend.

Overall I was impressed, started with nice starfield simulation, then onwards with very nice tunnel run, using such a simple but smart way of implementing it - like old games used limited hardware capabilities to make 3d feeling with sprites.

And optional but detailed tutorial, included as a checkbox in main menu? You are a hero.

Tides by Zelal Deniz YILDIZ 2021-05-01T10:20:09Z

It is absolutely a visual piece but I am definitely even more impressed by the work on the music track and it's dramatical rise and cooldown, in harmony with graphics.

Cecil & Dawson Asylum by AdamWatters 2021-04-26T19:03:20Z

Pleasant surprise. Upcoming jammers do not fear a lot of reading, after slow beginning it gets catchy interesting and if you are not used to play gamebooks, this is pretty enjoyable, smart and not overcomplicated.

Pretty Flower by ZeppelinGames 2021-04-26T18:50:29Z

Excels in visuals, lacks a bit in character control. Yeah I know, as @listonos already mentioned, platformer character controller is pure science to do right. I haven't done any myself yet and I am sure I would not make anything better during 48 hours than you did. It just feels a pity when you suffer climbing up the stairs. Perfect length for a jam game, flew through it and enjoyed the visual surprise.

LumenBrink by mrawde 2021-04-29T07:50:08Z

This game deserves more attention. Really polished, nicely done, enjoyable and smart, sharp controls. And everything fits together.

Fantastic balance of difficulty stepping up slowly with your progress. Many levels, like truly a lot, half of it would be fine for a jam game, this is a finished puzzle game.

Into the Abyss by oeschmid 2021-04-26T18:04:37Z

Your anchor is close to my harpoon, but way much better in the meaning of implementing it into puzzle mechanics. Actually you have real puzzles! (that I do not :)

Treasure Dive by Wuppos 2021-04-28T13:06:37Z

Treasure. Feels so good to control - that is a very good job and important thing done right. Looks fantastic too, I appreciate the detailed starting scenery and fine tiny animations and particles. And the whole idea. Pleasant surprise. Bubbles in water does not fit in the art style, but that is a (literally) tiny detail.

Treasure Dive by Wuppos 2021-04-28T15:25:01Z

@wuppos No worries. With particles I would not care, it is visible only if you are really examining it and looking for imperfections. They fit fine. Same simple approach may work for bubbles as well. Or as you say - the pixel perfect camera unity package, but I have no experience with it either and this jam was already too hectic for me for looking into it :)

Piranha Drama by JudgeClark 2021-04-30T13:14:23Z

That was real fun and yeah totally thanks to piranhas :) Music sounds very "underwater", nice touch. Graphics looking cool and having compact and original feeling. I would wish for arrow keys to work as well (when already taking care of gamepad too, just why not), myself not being very left handed.

LD50 — Delay the inevitable

Kitastrophe by Jezzamon 2022-04-06T20:17:54Z

Yep confirming, even though I am unable to analyze whats going wrong. Wanted to play but got lost as well in the middle of green, only visible things are grass and vertical road. Going to return, truly interested .)

Belecint by unpronounceable 2022-04-07T17:35:53Z

Enjoyable, smart. I've got to 104 and not gonna try one more time to beat it, at the end it got pretty stressful :)

I like the possible musical dimension of your game and would continue in that direction even further - layering notes on top of some abstract ambient track may be a good mood setter. And delay. The individual notes definitely need a delay effect!

I'll buy us some time by Lex 2022-04-04T19:03:37Z

Solid entry, immediately understandable game mechanic, not being simple - pretty challenging. Actually the range and spread of weapons making total sense. Snappy controls, I like the option of keyboard or mouse. Nice visuals and animation, fun audio (needs more!). A lot of job has been well done here

Card O''Clock by Bastienre4 2022-04-13T18:11:49Z

Six minutes on the first try and enjoyed every second of the game. At the beginning I need to admit I worried with every step of the tutorial coming where will all this lead (and won't I start forgetting the rules from the beginning already?) But once the game starts, everything gets pretty clear. The ticking sound is very satisfying. Cool that it is exactly, and nothing more, what the game needs in the audio department. Visually clean and tidy, not sure about necessity of that post-processing, but great surprise overall.

One inevitable thing by Rs11s21n 2022-04-07T20:02:58Z

Cat sabotage...? Well I'd say he is trying to HELP you :) Work of unordinary imagination

Bastet's Quest by onnofal 2022-04-08T10:31:15Z

@sophie-s Sorry to read, but there is nothing difficult at all - maybe I've just not communicated the way of controls clear enough, but believe me, it is on purpose and supposed to be a part of the game to find out. The point is not to click, but to click and hold - and release precisely (actually not even much precision needed). Thanks for playing, hope you try again :)

T Knight againts the Hydra by Becher 2022-04-05T19:25:01Z

The most theme-fitting entry I've played and rated so far. And the developer myself keeps asking: those necks, how those necks are done so they seem so natural and flexi and so smoothly bending :)

I Wanna Be Awake for This by Sererena 2022-04-07T19:56:27Z

Wondering what clicking the cat does or was supposed to do. Now making the character disappear, some other time it just breaks the game and stop running the time :) It is a refreshing take on the theme and nicely drawn. Well done

To SLEEP or NOT to SLEEP by Terabyte 2022-04-16T20:53:58Z

Everything important to tell what holds the game-play back has already been written and I can only agree. The graphics are gorgeous anyway and the approach to the audio is exemplary and made me giggle as well as others reporting before me.

Heat by Wuppos 2022-04-06T19:41:22Z

I am unable to write you something that has not been written here already: absolutely agreed with desperate need of audio (mostly because the rest feels so complete it is just a pity), surprise about possible guiding folks through the flame, and truly well designed tutorial walk-through.

I've had fun playing, the game looks stylish and plays excellent.

Little Planet by yulotomorrow 2022-04-05T18:40:11Z

A lot of work has been done here in all departments. Very well done, lovely visuals, even a story and the music. That has been little bit repetitive when action started, I like the opening piece more, but hey, it is a compo - I am impressed you managed to include music at all and you have two songs.

Would simplify the controls, no need of specific key for specific action. Interaction, progressing the dialogs, shooting.. can imagine uniting it into one key and/or LBM. Also the running key I noticed I just keep having pressed from the beginning till the end, so maybe there's no need for it all all and character may just accelerate and then maintain the higher speed.

Outrun The Sun by lb01 2022-04-07T10:24:52Z

The music is amazing. Horn section like from Bob Crewe orchestra followed by Chick Corea soloing :) Are you a keyboard player as well apart of being a game dev?

DataWorker by sophie.s 2022-04-08T11:39:28Z

Physics based games are tricky and objects can get pretty wild and unpredictable, here you balanced it so it kind of works :) Not perfect, but idea is original and fun and for a first game ever this submission is magnificent.

That One Time I Woke Up and Saw Vines Outside My Window by Nonnen 2022-04-05T18:56:13Z

It is lovely, surreal and scary. The whole atmosphere - the visuals and music working well together. Skipping few categories to vote in, I did not get that far to judge everything, but what I can tell I like. Requires a lot of patience for starting over and over, and those wines are punishing. It is a great submission anyway.

Flowers Photos & Pills by KatAsunder 2022-04-06T19:23:58Z

Oh dear, it looks great. I understand very well it is a team effort and to do all the other stuff is not easy at all, but this game is immediately standing out because of something you see at the first moment, and that are the visuals. And then you play and don't think about anything else (agreed with control of the camera as has been said already) and a moment comes when all is done and it hits you, with the most fitting music I would imagine there.

Over the Rainbow Bridge by Iguanana 2022-04-04T19:12:03Z

And there are still people believing that games are unable to tell stories. Show this to them.

RUNOUT by RobLaro 2022-04-05T15:35:52Z

This is a really fresh idea executed very neat. Needs controller, not that much fun on keyboard. I particularly like the detail how the character is being born from the well. Solid compo

By The Fire by Ani 2022-04-05T19:02:30Z

The bug so cute and the game is so polished  Controls felt little bit weird, but made running around feel like watching a stop motion animation, giving the visuals some extra fun twist.

By The Fire by Ani 2022-04-05T20:03:59Z

Needed to come back one more time with one more not that obvious fact: the code is an art as well.

Suppress The Press by Frostbiiten 2022-04-07T17:24:19Z

This is a cool and original game! Screen transitions and tweening done great, with a taste, and in a the right amount. Looks pro. Not necessarily good or bad: it even reminds me some sort of many hyper casual games of a wave once being popular on mobiles. Would easily fit in .)

Crazy Cats by Ladymarengo 2022-04-06T20:04:05Z

Cats breaking stuff! Hah, who does not survive at least a minute doesn't like cats. Great idea and perfect drawing. I really miss audio, some meow when being caught in a crime would be great addition. I did not mind cats overlapping, was like a bonus to disturb two at once and watch how they jump each into their own direction. The look they all have when they are not working on anything for a moment is gold and you know they are up to no good in next few secs anyway.

LD41 — Combine 2 Incompatible Genres

Plasimajita by steve 2018-04-26T10:12:49Z

Just wow, does not just look great on first look but most of all it is unbelievable fun to play. Definitely my favourite little-big entry so far.

Fire and Stone by mango-malarkey 2018-04-24T08:17:14Z

Impressive job on visuals, nice models and mood. I've encountered few glitches, like invincible frozen bear, being hit by something invisible and then I got stuck half way inbetween tiles and being impossible to move. I agree with @StriderToll on combat, sometimes I just kept walking there and back to make some enemy come closer in desired direction.

The Fat Man and the Sea by Samusoidal 2018-04-24T13:41:19Z

Hi, I was interested and tried the Linux version, but unable to run game, with this error: ``` Not a PNGReadPNG :: a PNG error occuredIcon: w=-1 h=-1 Segmentation fault (core dumped) ``` and as I see image resources in assets folder looks truly like jpegs with png extension

The Fat Man and the Sea by Samusoidal 2018-04-25T09:24:56Z

@Samusoidal yep indeed works and it is great :) and i appreciate the powerup system, making me more chances to survive - to catch correct fish when some rocket approaching is too often nearly impossible for me. but overall very nice

Sunken Soldier by OmnipotentIndie 2018-04-23T15:50:53Z

So well balanced in a way of graphics, sound, responsiveness to user input. All parts fits together and make the overall feeling from playing complete.

Bouncy Bullets by Rohan 2018-04-23T18:10:06Z

Surprising you cannot shoot yourself by accident. I suggest it, if difficulty not high enough :) Actually it is pretty difficult sometimes. Anyway it is fun and neat game!

Invitris by onnofal 2018-04-23T15:14:02Z

Thank you all for such words. It is true that it can get unfair or easily lock you the way by just a simple mistake, or even too easy when you are just bored for a second and waiting on the other hand. I will give it some time and maybe really come back to it later to fix those things and find out how to properly control it with touches on phone :)
