Eraseregg by OddballDave 2013-04-29T15:19:00
The controls were purposely left a little rough so that the player has to really think about which parts of the level he can erase and still make it to the egg. Maybe I left them a bit too rough though.

The controls were purposely left a little rough so that the player has to really think about which parts of the level he can erase and still make it to the egg. Maybe I left them a bit too rough though.
Consider my pants shat.
I loved everything about this one. Great fun. Thank you.
Nice game. Didn't make it to the end as I got stuck on one of the levels and couldn't figure out how to do it.
Great work Mark. And great work on the audio Dave. This one has got the best music of the entries I've played so far.
Very interesting idea. I found it a little difficult to play on a trackpad, still fun though. Good stuff.
@Zap: You are entirely correct, I should credit the musician. I'll ask him his name and update :)
@mboaj: Yep, cheap keyboards aren't great at registering simultaneous presses. The game overcomes this by allowing players to take it in turn to play if your keyboard is cheap. This also means that you can have multiple tries if there are less than 26 players.
This game is soooo infuriating. I've got 9.9secs eight times, but can't get exactly 10secs. Aargh! Good stuff.
This was fun. It started to lag really badly after a while, but that could have been at my end. Good stuff.
@grifdail: The beam must go through the target the exact number of times. No more, no less. If you believe it is then could I get a screenshot to help me find the issue.
Fun distraction. Would have liked it if the games didn't repeat in a single run until I'd played them all, but that only a small gripe.
I wanted to complete it but I got stuck on the the level "Did we add half a dimension? Space will help.". Couldn't figure that one out.
Very polished. Looks like it was made with mobile/tablets in mind and as such it was a little awkward on a laptop trackpad. Very good all-round entry.
Needed a couple more ways to affect the gameplay. But nice attempt, especially if you threw it together in the last 2 hours.
Wow, this my kinda game. Every aspect is well implemented, and I especially like the graphical style you went for. Good work.
Great graphics and sound. Was a little short, but not surprising considering the time restraint. Good work.
I liked it. Good work.
Really interesting concept. Strangely it reminds me of Glitch Tank. I'd like to see something similar in topdown perspective with the guards patrolling.
Beating people up on the toilet, what more does one need in a game!?
I get a "Bad file length" error. I'm on a Mac OS X 10.8
Nice game. As others have said the graphics are great. I'm not sure the one gun mechanic added anything to the concept other than tying it into the theme though.
This is great fun. You combined the simple mechanics well to create engaging puzzles. Well done.
404 here too.
Good solid entry. Looks and sounds great. The platforming physics need to be refined a bit. The jump feels very floaty and there's a weird effect where you can jump higher if you aren't moving when you start to jump.
Good simple game, and the oxygen meter adds a nice touch of risk reward gameplay.
I t y p e t o o s l o w l y t o b e a b l e t o p l a y t h i s g a m e . :(
An interesting twist on the death/mega worm games. I feel it should give some indication where the worm is going to break the surface, maybe have a mound appear first. Could be fun multiplayer with some extra weapons/items if you continue development.
Fun little diversion. Occasionally I could get my mice to run in a big column in the right direction, but I couldn't figure out how I did it so most of the time they ran in the wrong direction.
Page not found :(
Nice game. Usually in these types of games you have to keep both characters alive so this was a nice twist. Level design does need some work as you could largely ignore the bottom character and concentrate on keeping the top one alive. Then your natural path to the door would lead to the bottom characters death without having to think much about it.
Nice fun entry. Very simple, but that's what makes it good fun.
@MatthewHolland: Most of the graphics and audio where made before the jam so I opted out.
@MintArcade: The telekinetic is a bit fussy. It's probably catching on a branch or bump in the ground nearby.
My brain can't cope with this game. Good stuff though.
I played this for way longer than I should. Quite mesmerising. Good stuff.
Some really great concepts in here. Really enjoyed it. Good stuff.
Great use of the theme, and enjoyable too. Good stuff.
What did I just play?! I think it took my soul... And I liked it :)
Interesting idea in having to match the stomach to the spleen, but i found the game too easy. I beat every time. One time the spleen even appeared in a win location.
The music was good, but as you say in the description it's a very simplistic game overall. Good stuff.
This was fun. And avery interesting mechanic. Good stuff.
Awesome art. And the little bobbing monk is cute as a button. I reloaded the page to see if I got a new set of 'prayer answers', but sadly they didn't change. Good stuff.
Thanks. I totally agree with all those points. The game mechanics are meant to be just an excuse to explore an interesting space. Given more time I'd have put in a lot more interesting interactions and events. The jump is need to find some of the secrets.
The FPS issue is due to me running out of time before I could optimise things. I'll get round to fixing that in the next few days. I think I can do that within the rules.
@Tom & Todd - Bernband was a big inspiration for this game, and I had 24 Killers in mind whilst making this too. So thanks for playing guys. :)
Great art and music. The controls were a little clunky. Very interesting idea though. Good stuff.
Surprisingly fun game. Great audio. Good stuff
The brain bit was great fun. I'd have been happy with just that part. Art and audio are cool too. Good stuff.
This has a very satisfying whoosh when moving. Really interesting idea. I felt it needed an online high score table, but a solid entry even without. Good stuff.
Awesome graphics. Great audio. I found the mechanic of controlling bullets a bit clunky. Often the thing I wanted to aim them at was off screen. But all-in-all a wonderful entry. Good stuff.
Great art, music and general mood. I found some of the dash/wall jumps a bit hard, but that's probably because I'm rubbish at this type of game. Super entry. Good stuff.
Amazing art. And a lot of content for 48 hours. Good stuff.
The game is nice, even if Amanda isn't. The deducing who to attack is similar in concept to my entry which was a pleasant surprise. Solid entry. Good stuff.
I love gravity games and this one is a little different. I also like that you can score yourself on time or top speed. Good stuff.
This is manic. Great sense of chaos. Would be interesting to try this local multiplayer. Good stuff.
That certainly was a lot of words. Very impressive amount of work for 72 hours. Good stuff.
Great entry. Some humorous text. love the art. Good stuff.
I really suck at rhythm games and this game proves that. I was hopeless at it :( Great entry though. Good stuff.
Loved it. Loved all of it. Great entry. Good stuff.
Great entry. Fun to play. Good stuff.
"Don't let men touch you ;)" - Words we could all do to live by. Good stuff.
Wow! this is such a polished entry. I found it got really hard fairly quickly, but maybe I'm just being a bit rubbish. Great work. Good stuff.
I liked it. And I beat the intruder. Interesting idea. Would have liked to have found something in every location I searched and had it more about which combos work best, but that's only a small gripe. Good stuff.
I really liked the eagle weapon(?), and that giant frog was hilarious. Good stuff.
I love party games and this does a very good job of it. Good stuff.
This game looks amazing. Top marks for graphics and animation. And all the little touches like particles and flickering light really adds to it. That said I found the controls a bit fiddly, which caused me a lot of needless deaths. Overall though a great entry. Good stuff.
A really unique and interesting concept. I enjoyed it even if I wasn't very good at it. Good stuff.
This was an odd entry. I like odd entries. I like this. Good stuff.
Excellent entry as always. Was a little confusing, but I suppose discovery is what the game is all about so a little confusion is ok.
Great entry. Fits the theme well. The time lapse and vine effects were excellent. The game was just the right length for the amount of content. SPOILER: When the vine flowered at the end I would have liked the camera to stop there, but that's a minor nit pick.
@Jwatt: Thanks. I have a ton of Move controllers too. They're just so cheap these days it'd be a crime not to have a few lying around. Anyway let me know what you think of the game once you've come out of the closet with that Move controller.
Great entry. How I was affecting the growth was confusing at first, but I got the hang of it. We had very similar ideas. My entry is about growing bonsai too.
Love breakout and this is a great version. Good stuff.
Very unusual. Took me a few goes to fully understand it, but I got there in the end. Good stuff.
Outstanding graphics, and great audio. The crafting was a little frustrating when non of the combos where working and I'd have to keep going back and forth to restock. Other than that it's a great entry. Good stuff.
My fingers hurt. In a good way.
Great entry. I also made a bonsai growing themed game for LD34 so I was very interested to check this out. I like your scripting approach to generating the tree shape. Good stuff.
I played this for far too long. Good stuff.
Nice idea. Like the graphics. I wanted to see more which is good.
*Thumbs up*
Great graphics and interesting audio.
Good stuff.
Starts very slow, but once it gets going is quite challenging and fun.
Good stuff.
Nice fun entry. Really like the graphics. Had fun playing.
Good stuff.
Great looking entry. I got stuck in the end so didn't manage to finish it. But enjoyed what I did see.
Good stuff.
I really like the idea of this one. I really wanted more variety. I'd play a more fleshed out version of this.
Good stuff.
It took me a while to get the hang of it. Nice game.
Good stuff.
Shame this is marked as unfinished. I felt it had a great chance of winning.
Great little fun game. But boy did that music make me want to rip my ears off.
Great idea. Great execution. Great job. It kept thinking I said 'hope' instead of 'help', but the other commands worked fine. Well done!
Thanks @tuism I pretty much agree with everything you said. I really struggled with the interface design and due to time in the end I had to go with something that wasn't perfect. It caused me to miss out getting other features in such as alerts and multiplayer. 48 hours just wasn't enough time to work out the issues.
@smilewood Glad you understood the interface, as @tuism said a drag bar would probably have been better. For the theme I thought you'd be frantically clicking all over the more access points you captured, but it didn't work out like that. To be honest I'm glad, the frantic clicking thing would have been less fun. The AI is limited, that was another thing that I ran out of time before getting it properly into the game.
@ava-skoog The easiest way to understand it is to forget the whole network/hacking thing. Manchester is your base, it is making dots for you and sending them down the lines. If you click on Manchester you can use the panel in the bottom right to decide where the dots it makes go. If you click all the dots next to Madrid, like the image up top, all the dots made will be sent to Madrid. You can now click Madrid and do the same thing except send all the dots to Dakar. After a few seconds you'll have captured Dakar, and you can repeat the process to capture other places. But remember if you are sending all your dots down one line you are vulnerable to attack down other lines. Happy hacking.
@osterzone Try maxing out Madrid>Dakar>Lagos as quickly as possible at the start. But remember to spread your Data Packets back out afterwards.
@gerox Your right. Added it now. Thanks
YES! This is my kind of game. Loved it. Reminds me a bit of 0rbitalis, which is a good thing in my book. As far as quibbles, I found the planets bumping into each other a little annoying, but I suppose that fits the theme, and I'd have also liked to be able to change the mouse sensitivity as I'm playing on trackpad. I'm gonna break out my mouse and have another go. Great stuff.
This game put me on edge. I hate Christmas shopping and this was like a nightmare shopping trip. I really struggled with the thieves, I wasn't able to prevent a them nicking my stuff no matter how much I tried to slap them. Not sure what I was doing wrong there. Everything else, graphics, sound, gameplay, etc, was spot on though. It's a great entry. Excellent stuff.
Great art, great music, simple but fun gameplay. What's not to like. Great stuff.
A neat little tower defence game. Great art and sound, and it has a lot of character. Good stuff.
My score was 16696 at the end. I think I found and spoke to everyone. In the end I sobered up and it ended. My score kept increasing after the game had ended though. The interactions were fun and were the best part of the game. A very good all round entry. Great stuff.
Fun little game. Has a SkiFree vibe to it. It was a little short, just as I was getting into my stride I reached the bottom. An all round good entry. Great stuff.
This is a nice little time waster. It really needs some kind of scoring system to really hold the player, but it's a good concept. Chasing the pidgeons was a lot of fun. Good stuff.
Visually this is spot on. Captures the setting perfectly and in a very minimalist manner. Great audio too. And a lot of fun to play. I don't have any quibbles with it at all. Yea this is a really good compo entry. Great stuff.
I didn't think I was going to enjoy this but I really did. I found it intriguing and was quickly sucked in by the narrative. Great stuff.
Maximum points for humour. Hilarious Arnie impression too. The 3rd person controls felt a bit off, but i got used to them in the end. Great stuff.
@mightycode So you spotted the Locoroco influence.
@alpinus4 Added a webGL build just for you.
Thanks :8ball:
@cope So you might say that you ran out of space :point_left:
I'll show myself out :8ball:
@tattomoosa That'll be a bug. I know instantly what I've done wrong, but it'll have to stay for now. :8ball:
Loved it. I won, I think. Nice touch having your previous selves still lying on the floor. The audio and graphics were very atmospheric and set a really good mood. This is a great entry.
Good stuff :8ball:
That was a lot of fun. I like the graphics. It was a bit odd that you can move the objects around after they are placed in the bag. I also liked that you never see who the red knight is fighting.
Good stuff :8ball:
Great game. I scored you highly in most aspects. The whole thing works pretty well together. I didn't really use the mouse aim, I just kept my guy facing in one direction. Love the graphics. A very fun distraction.
Good stuff :8ball:
The concept is really good. There's a full game lurking somewhere in the main mechanics. I got a lot of graphical glitches like the player flipping upside down and inside out. Overall a solid entry.
Good stuff :8ball:
Fun game. I played all the way through to the promotion ending. I thought the length for that was about right. It fits the theme really well, has great graphics, and I really liked the music.
Good stuff :8ball:
This is a very interesting concept and I think it could be expanded into an excellent little mobile game. I kind of liked the having to work out what was needed to complete each level and it held my interest long enough for me to complete the game. The graphics were function and the sound was really good for the most part. All-in-all a wonderful entry.
good stuff :8ball:
It's fun in a chaotic kind of way. The players planet should be more distinguishable from the others. Once you get to grips with what's going on it's a very enjoyable game. I had fun.
Good stuff :8ball:
Great entry. It was good fun to play. Excellent use of the theme. I wanted right click to rotate the buildings, but that's a minor grape. Graphics and audio were good. There's nothing bad to say about it.
Good stuff :8ball:
The graphics are amazing. I love that snail. The controls could do with a little bit of work. The jump felt weird and not moving along with the moving platforms was unintuitive. The puzzle were good once you figure which seeds turn off which platforms.
Good stuff :8ball:
I loved this, especially the art style. It reminded me very much of those old towlr games, but a lot more polished. Played it until the end, and had lots of fun doing so. Great entry.
Good stuff :8ball:
A very solid entry. I had fun enough to play it through to completion. I liked the graphics style. It definitely nailed the theme.
Good stuff :8ball:
@drevilbrain The Computer asked me to tell you that **[REDACTED]**, **[REDACTED]**, and **[REDACTED]** are prohibited. So you should immediately **[REDACTED]** in the **[REDACTED]** with a **[REDACTED]**. Failure to do so is treason and punishable by death.
I hope that makes things clearer.
@silkworm-sweatshop You have to find the High-Programmer. He spends his time in the Ultraviolet zone. The Ultraviolet zone is white with a violet accent(Like his jumpsuit). But of course you don't have access to the Ultraviolet zone, and therein lies the problem. It's possible, just search for any *unusual* features. :8ball:
@ava-skoog Thanks for your comments. The question mark ending is due to there actually being three endings.
**SPOILER** _Following the computer's wishes gets you Blue clearance(Computer wins), but if you do things a little differently you can also get Ultraviolet clearance(You win) or even destroy the computer(Computer loses)._ **END SPOILER**
@themadprogramer Well if you're going to destroy the computer then everything will crash. Joking aside, the intention was to have all the computer screens go off and have all the doors open after you destroy the computer, but I ran out of time and a hard quit seemed like a fitting end. I also didn't have time to make a model/texture for the computers circuits hence it just being a black space where you can destroy them.
This is good fun. I like the mechanic of balancing the anger of two factions. I'd have liked a bit more of a zoomed out view, but other than that it's a great entry. Good stuff :8ball:
A very interesting concept. I don't think I've seen anything with this combination of mechanics before. With some extra ways to hamper the enemies, some more varied enemy types, and a few environmental hazards, this could be a full blown game. Good stuff :8ball:
Once I understood the rules I became unbeatable and my army stretched well beyond the bounds of my computer screen. When I first read the rules I was wondering where the strategy could come from, but once I actually started to play it's surprisingly tactical. This has the makings of a fun little mobile PvP game. I enjoyed this game more and more as I played on. My only quibble is that the AI needs to be better, it's no match for a committed human player. Good stuff :8ball:
Nice and relaxing game. Well presented and pretty intuitive. It does need a bit more interaction to take it to that next level. But all-in-all a great entry. Good stuff :8ball:
This was really interesting and very different. I don't think I've ever played anything like it. Love the graphics and the audio is great. I played for quite a while. Good stuff. :8ball:
Great. I loved it. Twin-stick shooters are my thing though so I'm a little biased. It's well made and plays nicely. I had a lot of fun playing. Thanks. Good stuff :8ball:
This was good fun. I like these kind of games. It does need a bit more variation on the daily events. I kept getting the same thing. Graphics are great, and the story was well done. Good stuff :8ball:
I really like the art and music on this one. The controls were a bit fiddly to begin with, but once I'd got the hang of them it was quite easy to play. Good stuff :8ball:
I really liked the audio. The game was fun to play. I found a technique of attack->dodge that let me go quite deep. The whole sacrifice mechanic and concept was really well thought out and done. Had issues with the HTML5 version where key inputs were not registering, but no such problems with the Mac download.
Good stuff :8ball:
Great art, great audio, and a nice chill experience. It took me a while to understand all the different elements of the game. I enjoyed it.
Good stuff :8ball:
This is very good. Simply but fun. Fits the theme perfectly and as someone who has to balance the family budget I feel this family's struggle. Is the game beatable? I tried a couple of times but couldn't get close. It's a bit depressing if it isn't. Good stuff :8ball:
I think I'm getting old. My brain couldn't recall the combinations fast enough. It's really quite fun though once you finally get a rhythm going. Good stuff :8ball:
@ace17 The source is the DitR.unitypackage on the itch.io download page :8ball:
Thanks for the info @superchihuahua I'll look into it. In the mean time I've uploaded a webGL version which might give better results. :8ball:
@delpes If in doubt point the crosshair at everything until something flashes. If you're still a bit stuck
!>plant the ring in the patch of earth on the opposite side to the statue.
@local-minimum I never knew the site had actual spoiler tags. Thanks for that info. I know the 'puzzles' are a bit obtuse so thanks for persevering. You were right near the end. If you'd like to finish
!>**Carry** the pixel, yes it's a pixel, you got from the egg out into the fog away from all those events of the past, and into, hopefully, a bright and wonderful future.
This is so wonderfully frustrating. I tried so many times to survive long enough for the sun to rise. Is it possible or am I just terrible at it? Love the graphics, and that music sets me on edge whilst the troll is breathing down my neck. I'm determined to survive so I'm going back in for more punishment. Wish me luck.
Good stuff :8ball:
Everything is so well done in this game. The graphics are totally my kind of thing. Audio was great. Loved the characters. At first I didn't like the bowling mechanic, but once I got the hang of it I started to really enjoy it. This is a really top notch entry.
Good stuff :8ball:
Amazing art style. It's a clever idea and looked really great. I felt the plane should bank (excuse the pun) when turning to give it that paper plane authenticity. The gameplay was fun if a little simplistic, but as you were short of time that can be excused. A solid entry.
Good stuff :8ball:
In the description it says it's possible to win, but I can only move so far along the level before it appears there's no way to continue. Am I missing something? I was having lots of fun with this and really wanted to finish it. Either way I really like how you've done the graphics, and the music was very moody.
Good stuff :8ball:
An interesting idea. Having both the enemies and player have their lives on a timer really makes it, and the core mechanic really comes into its own when you reach the first boss. That's when it clicked for me why this mechanic worked. I had a lot of fun playing this game.
Good stuff :8ball:
This is brilliant! When I got knocked off a car but landed safely on the car that just happened to be passing I was so pumped. It's a great take on the Frogger mechanic. Thanks for a really fun entry.
Good stuff :8ball:
I didn't know what to expect from the limited info supplied, but wow did it blow away those expectations I didn't have. This is my kind of thing. The little 'twist' was well handled. The graphics are top notch and fit the game really well. The audio was great, and really set the tone. I had fun, and it turns out I'm a great friend.
Awesome work :8ball:
Okay, I'll try. :8ball:
@silkworm-sweatshop I hope you carried on making a bit more money after you took that screenshot. I'd hate for you to have missed anything after playing for so long.
@jupiter-hadley Thanks for playing it. I also noticed that the info panels weren't showing in your video. Turns out there was a bug and none of them were showing. So thanks for helping me spot that.
@hajden Thanks for playing. I don't know much about clicker games either. I got the idea from that Candy Box game that went viral about 5 years ago.
@velvetlobster Thanks. Not sure the mobile market needs another clicker game though.
Keep clicking guys :8ball:
@catusfelony It should use your local currency, and nothing in the game says it's set in the US. You merely get to buy the US election at one point, just like Russia did in 2016
Anyway it's all in good fun :8ball:
It's a simple game, but I still clicked it for far too long. I was determined to get a 10^9 property down.
Good stuff :8ball:
Interesting idea, and presented really well. It seemed to meander a lot, so I couldn't really tell if I was making progress, and eventually I lost interest in the story. I think something as simple as changing text colours when different people were speaking would have helped a lot. Having said all that I did play for quite a while.
Good stuff :8ball:
Nice concept, and Minesweeper will always be fun. There was too much guessing for my liking. I understand creating a level generator that eliminated guessing would have been out of the scope of a jam, but it would have been nice to have some other mechanic to alleviate the issue. Maybe a few lives per level would have helped. Either way I had fun with it.
Good stuff :8ball:
Absorbing idea. It drew me in and compelled me to keep exploring. Not sure the ending was a satisfying enough payoff for what had gone before, but I know how jam games go. This would be a good hook/intro to a bigger game.
Good stuff :8ball:
This really wasn't what I thought it was going to be from looking at the screenshots. And when I first saw the cube move I was sure I was going to hate it, but I was wrong. There's something strangely fascinating about the janky cube controls. The the direction buttons being offset from the direction of motion, coupled with the behaviour of the cube when it not aligned with the cardinal directions. This is a far more nuanced game than it first appears. Thank you for sharing.
Good stuff :8ball:
Damn those rats are annoying. A very polished entry. Looks good, sounds good, and pretty decent gameplay. 'Twas fun.
Good stuff :8ball:
:taco:  :8ball:
I love the graphics, and the way they are presented. It was an unusual decision to use flat sprites and then have the camera at an angle, but I really like the aesthetic it produces. The audio is what really hammers the mood home. It reminded me of old Simpsons episodes where Kang and Kodos would turn up. The gameplay is simplistic, but more than enough for a jam game. The premise fits the theme pretty well. I ended up having quite a few goes.
Good stuff :8ball:
Very nice game. Some good puzzles, especially given it's a 48 hour game. Great graphics and the audio really gets the mood going. I found the up/down controls a little awkward, but that's a minor gripe. I'd figured the reverse twist was coming before the end and was hoping to see all my moves play out backwards(forwards?) at the end, but I guess that was asking a bit much for 48 hours. Very enjoyable all the same.
Good stuff :8ball:
This is really polished and stylish. It oozes quality, and it has a solid mechanic and game loop to back it up. I predict this will score very highly indeed. Well done team.
Good stuff :8ball:
Very simple idea, but very compelling to play. I was really determined to complete my car. Music loop was maybe to short, but the rest of the audio was fine. I had plenty of fun with this one.
Good stuff :8ball:
This. Game. Hurts. My. Brain! I got an actual headache playing this game, seriously. Great game. The concept is brilliant. When the lava appeared and I need to start combining rules that's what sold me on the mechanic.
Good stuff :8ball:
That audio is creepy as hell, and the graphics fit well. The main mechanic was easy enough to understand, but trying to match the colour got really difficult really quickly for me.
Good stuff :8ball:
You did well juicing up the simple graphics, it gave the game its own personality. Some nice audio in there too. The controls were good and meant the game felt like a fair challenge.
Good stuff :8ball:
Very interesting idea. And it's all presented really well. Everything seemed to work together well and there was a nice sense of progression.
Good stuff :8ball:
Well, there's some nice, simple fun. I didn't think it was too difficult at all. A nice variety of enemies, that worked well together.
Good stuff :8ball:
This looks and sounds great, and it's very impressive for 72 hours. Those little souls are so cute.
Good stuff :8ball:
I don't think I've ever seen a game like this before. Interesting concept. Has a great vibe to it, helped mainly by the audio. It was somehow relaxing and frantic at the same time.
Good stuff :8ball:
I've been reading all the comments to Pixie. I'm not sure that she understands that people we don't know are playing the game and commenting.
@cinar The game or Pixie?
@pixelmoose-studio Thanks.
@newbiedev I let Pixie know you liked her bit.
@supergamersgames We did as much as we could in the time we had.
@darthdeus The animation came out better than I expected for such a simple effect.
@julius-vander-arend Pixie was happy with your comments.
@linus-lindberg Pixie loved taking part.
@wiredsound Your comment made Pixie smile.
@noahw Didn't think anyone would notice the hitchhikers reference.
@dranjohn Ha! It wasn't really meant to be a jump scare, but I didn't have time to put in a proper transition so it ended up that way.
@jack-mordred I should use itch.io more. Kind of just throw my free stuff on there and forget about it. I bet there's tons of good stuff on there.
Thanks everyone :8ball:
This is really polished. Great look, sound, and feel to it. I'm a big fan of Braid so was able to grasp the mechanics quickly. Excellent entry as always.
Good stuff :8ball:
Loving the mood of this one. Great visuals, Great audio, and it all worked well together. I managed to _escape_. The only gripe I had was I would have preferred spacebar to row. Great entry though.
Good stuff :8ball:
I like the concept, and it was fun to play. I think the difficulty could ramp up quicker. Once you get the mechanic there's a period where it's far too easy. A pretty solid all round entry though.
Good stuff :8ball:
I had no troubles, it all worked for me, but I don't think I found the end of the loop. I tried about 10 times. What am I missing?
Good stuff :8ball:
@lakshyaisagod The itch.io page has 0 views and 0 downloads, how did play the game to vote? :8ball:
@blubberquark You can swap the left and right thruster controls if you press [Tab] on keyboard or (Select) on controller.
Great game as always. The visuals and audio are brilliant. Touches like the coffee mug, seagulls, and little rumbles here and there really set the mood. First time I got the turbulence from the whale(?) was another great moment. I liked that what was happening outside the window was actually secondary/redundant where gameplay was concerned and the game was completely played on the little displays in the game.
Downsides? Maybe the grabber minigame was a little too easy. I didn't fail it once or perhaps I'm just that good at games. To be honest though I couldn't really fault it.
Good stuff :8ball:
This is a solid entry. I had fun playing it. Gameplay is simple and easy to understand. There's lots of scope for player choice and in turn various tactics/play styles. Is there an ending? I feel like I got pretty far. I think I'll go have another try.
Good stuff :8ball:
The audio had an eerie sci-fi vibe to it. Not sure if that was the intention, but it really added to the mood. The visuals are nice if a little basic. The mechanics all seem sound enough and it's pretty well balanced considering it's a jam game. Looks like you all put a lot of work into this, and you've done a fine job.
good stuff :8ball:
I spent longer than I care to admit building a sub capable of reaching the bottom. It was lots of fun too. My only suggestion is to put a label on each engine with the key that controls it. That would help when the sub tumbles. Great entry overall though.
Good stuff :8ball:
It took me a while to understand the portal mechanic. I don't think I've seen anything like that before. Having to pass through at a set speed was really interesting to me. I played all the way to the end, but I don't think that mechanic alone is enough to justify the length. It's well made and the graphics are good.
Solid entry :8ball:
Well if that isn't the cutest unconscious penguin I ever did see. This is one of those simple concept that's really hard to master. Kinda like a flappy bird. The cute graphics really fit and the audio was good too. Not really got anything negative to say. It's executed really well.
Good stuff :8ball:
Ha! This is kinda wacky and whimsical. I have to admit that from looking at the screenshots I thought the game was going to be very basic. But there's quite a bit going on and it has a lot of character. It starts off feeling a little unfair but once you get your head around how to play it becomes more challenging than unfair. This one is a little hidden gem.
Good stuff :8ball:
Wow! You all put a lot of work into this. Great job. I love the cut out style. Artwork was great. Audio was great. Plot was fun and engaging. I noticed a couple of areas that could have done with a bit of extra work but more than forgivable given the final entry. And you got me lol at the IT Crowd reference so well done for that. This is probably my favourite entry I've played so far.
Good stuff :8ball:
This is good for a jam game. I like the visuals, and the audio was really good. I had plenty of fun playing. The game did crash when my minions reached the portal on level 6 though. My only suggestions would be more variety, but I'm guessing you figured that already and as it's a jam it's easily forgivable.
Good stuff :8ball:
I'm getting some serious TROIKA! vibes from this entry, which is awesome. The art is great and the voice acting was brilliant. Combined they form a really off-kilter mood that works so well to draw the player into this weird and wonderful world you've created. I'm really digging this one. My only quibble was the combat was a little obtuse. A few clues as to which combos were each opponents favoured attack/defence would have helped. I enjoyed it a lot though.
Good stuff :8ball:
I like the ambition of this one, but I think it needed more time than 48 hours to do it justice. An interactive 'biography' of the Voyager probe is a great concept, and there's a lot of scope for minigames and such. I did enjoy the ride though.
Good stuff :8ball:
Great entry. The audio in the third(final) area was amazing and really set the mood. The graphics overall were good, but again the third area shone out in that department too. The level design in the third area was also streaks ahead of the other two. In the first area the mishmash of tiles made a few sections unnecessarily confusing, the cleaner look of the third was much better. It was a great decision to switch up the gameplay for the second area, but it did feel a bit lacking with only the sharks to contend with.
Hope that didn't sound too negative as I really enjoyed this. I played to the end and even wanted there to be more.
Good stuff :8ball:
@kingofspill Yea, I knew it would be possible to cheese it if the blobs/crates spawned too close to each other. But it’s still hard to achieve so well done on managing it.
Double post :8ball:
Is it even possible to get a job! I've been trying for half an hour now. Are you just messing with me!?
Anyway, great idea and executed really well. I liked the responses. Graphics fitted the the game and it all worked together. I would have liked a bit of variety(graphics/music) for the different workplaces, but that's only a minor gripe.
Good stuff :8ball:
I bought everything and I still got the CHOP!! It seems I was only _delaying the inevitable_. Great little jam game. Had a lot of fun. Would have liked some kind of scoring system. I didn't hear any audio so I've not rated that.
Good stuff :8ball:
I love the graphics, and had loads of fun playing. After about 50 the game becomes impossible, which I guess is the point given the theme. I feel the game would have benefitted from some audio. It still kept me engage enough though to have quite a few goes at getting to the bottom of the mountain.
Good stuff :8ball:
I strangely really like this. Chapter One works best as a game. That could have been a whole game in itself with a few extra additions. Chapter Two was actually my favourite. Though it is a little broken. Sometimes you roll into the water before you can do anything, and being able to bounce off the sides of blocks would have helped. Chapter Three is perhaps the weakest, but it's still a pretty solid game.
All the graphics look great and the was plenty of polish. It all sounded good too. You've done a great job on this all round.
Good stuff :8ball:
Nice simple mechanic but you get it to do a lot of work. Plenty of variety in the level layout meant having to use the dash in subtly different ways. The music was good, although it did start out a little annoying it got much better as it went on. In the end a solid entry.
Good stuff :8ball:
I love all the little touches and interactions. It was fun to play. The WebGL version kept forgetting that I'd adjusted mouse sensitivity and I had to keep changing back each play. It looks good, and sounds great. And it has a style that it sticks to perfectly.
Good stuff :8ball:
This looks and sounds fantastic, and I really like the concept. I can see what you were going for, but it needs to ramp up the number of asteroids and quickly. It took me forever to create my fortress of asteroid death because I had to sit there wait for asteroids to appear. None of them got remotely close as they were all mowed down the second they appeared. Shield are pointless. They need to be able to withstand multiple hits radar and turrets are far superior at the moment even at the higher cost. Anyway, don't mean to sound negative as I really enjoyed playing, it's just this could be a great little game with a few tweaks. Solid entry.
Good stuff :8ball:
An interesting take on the theme. It's well polished, and the graphics are cute. The big hands gave me a chuckle. I didn't hear any audio so I didn't rate that. It all works well as a little time wasting game.
Good stuff :8ball:
Oh wow! This got hectic fast. I thought I was doing well, then all of a sudden I was overrun with trophy thieves. The power-ups/attacks are quite random, but they work nicely with the wacky premise. Some questions do remain though. Like, why have I got so many trophies? And why is everybody after them? And why am I so violently protecting them?
Good stuff :8ball:
Interesting idea. The environments look nice. I couldn't get past level 2 so seems a little unfair for me to give it a rating when I've seen so little of the game.
Good stuff :8ball:
This is a solid tower defence game. Very simple to understand, and hits all the right marks for the genre. Then the added twist of trying to evacuate the workers was very clever. It's a constant balance of trying to have enough workers to man towers and trying to save as many workers as possible. I'm wondering as the developer what your best score is? Is it possible to get a perfect score or, as in life, do some sacrifices _have_ to be made?
Good Stuff :8ball:
Yea, so this is f##king amazing. It's kinda like SUPER**HOT** and Hotline Miami rolled into one, SUPER**HOT**line Miami if you will. I'd play a full scale version of this with proper levels and stuff. I could imagine entering a level full of enemies with only 6 bullets and having to clear the whole thing out. As is though it's still a great game. Lot's of style, and the audio adds so much. It made me feel like an action hero pulling off all those combo shots. I usually add a comment or two of constructive criticism, but well, truth is I can't think of any negatives.
Good stuff :8ball:
I **hate** this game!!
I **hate** that I care so much about my little guy in the woods.
I **hate** that I played this for an hour straight(seriously my bum is numb now).
I **hate** how much the lovely drawn forrest drew me in.
I **hate** how much the music and audio had me on edge.
I **hate** having to look at his cold sad face as he hopelessly searches for firewood.
But most of all..
I **hate** that no matter how much I tried I couldn't get my poor little guy through the night.
Now take my 5*s and don't make me feel for a bunch of pixels again.
Good stuff :8ball:
Ha, great idea! I don't think I've ever had to shoot the sun in a videogame before. I like your interpretation of the theme. It plays nice, sounds and looks good. A really solid compo entry. Well done.
Good stuff :8ball:
Art
Audio
Gameplay
My gaming skills
Seriously though this is a solid entry. Works as a game, and is a complete experience. Can't ask more from a jam game than that.
Good stuff :8ball:
This is really good for a first LD Jam game. I liked pretty much everything about it. I even liked that the character would glitch out on occasion and warp around the level. I did find that the crates seemed to spawn in regular spots, so a bit more randomness there would have been nice. I could see this being expanded into a much bigger game, kinda like a Starseed Pilgrim type thing. All round though a great entry.
Good stuff :8ball:
I know this is meant to be one of those jokey type games, but I had a Binatone Machine in the 70s/80s and it legit had a mode called Squash(practise) which was exactly like this. This is a gaming concept as old as videogames themselves. You've kind of proved that the Ludum Dare 50 theme is as pure as gaming itself. Whether by choice or by accident your game has validated the Theme Suggestions, the Theme Slaughter, and the Theme Voting rounds as the absolute and only possible solution for game jam theme creation. Whenever anyone on this, or any website, ever questions how the theme is decided upon I will direct them here so they can eat that humble pie they are spewing. I am printing this page in triplicate as I type and I will be framing it. One copy will be sent to the National Museum of Videogame History. One copy will be sent to @pov. The last I will keep for myself, placed on the wall next to the first drawing that my daughter drew of me.
I salute you. :8ball:
@mossieur-patate Great feedback. And not gonna argue with any of it as it's only a jam game. I was going for that old-school internet weird, kinda like 'Salad fingers' and other early internet memes.
I will address a couple of points as your feedback was so well thought out.
The lack of guidance, that is intentional. You are supposed to have confusion and a sense of not getting it, or to even give up caring about which are good/bad.
There is a strict criteria for good produce. The arms must be the same length as the legs, which must be the same length as the body, and must be the same length as the head. The poster only hints at this, again on purpose. Bad produce sometimes also has an off colour to help with selection.
There is a little bit of feedback when you select good/bad produce. The mangler has a light that turns red when good produce is mangled, green for bad produce. The taste-tester burps if given bad produce, it makes him gassy, and gives an 'mmmmm' for good produce.
Other than those clarifications everything you said was bang on. Thank you for the feedback :8ball:
Yea, this is great. I mean it capture that terror of running out of time perfectly. I tried playing on trackpad at first which was impossible, but once I dug out a mouse it was perfectly playable. The sense of foreboding was immense, even before any of the tasks started. I think that was down to the audio. I had my headphones on and that driving bass was really hitting an anxiety nerve. Only gripe would have been length, but that can be forgiven as it's the bane of all Ludum Dare entries. Graphics were great, and the visual effect added an extra life and ominous vibrancy to them. It all fitted perfectly with the overall ambience of the game.
Great stuff :8ball:
That was fun. And it got me thinking you could get really nuanced with the likes/dislikes. Having to weed out the exact combos of dislikes vs likes. It looks great, props to the artist. Would have liked to have a progress bar for the 10 seconds as I kept clicking during a changeover causing confusion over who I'd clicked on. But really the biggest complaint I have is that I couldn't pet the cat!!!! I mean come on, let me pet the cat. Never the less 'tis a great entry.
Good stuff :8ball:
@helen
>We display the ten seconds on the clock on the left.
Ah, sorry I totally missed that. But I feel it would have been better to have something closer to the players eye line as they quickly scan the text.
Haha! I loved it. As the proud parent of a 5 year old I can relate to this sooo much. Graphics, great. Audio, top notch. Gameplay, brilliantly frustrating. All the QTE events worked great. Yea, it's Desert Bus Simulator on steroids. Great work guys.
Good stuff :8ball:
I won. Yay! It got a bit hectic in parts and I couldn't quite tell what was going on at those bits. But it was pretty intuitive for the most part. I like the art style a lot. The Liches head wiggle had me chuckling.
Good stuff :8ball:
Yea, this is top notch. It's pretty much a full finished web game. Great work for 72 hours. Props to whoever did the graphics and audio. And I had no bugs or glitches so big props to the programmer as well  Not really got anything constructive to add as it's perfectly fine as is.
Good stuff :8ball:
Great idea. It's an excellent fit for the theme. It's a really frustrating game having to wait for those timers when you mess up, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. I think a traditional countdown timer would have been better than a wall of death as you could catch up lost time later in the level. All round though I enjoyed it a lot.
Good stuff :8ball:
W-w-what did I just play. Whatever it was I'm here for it. I'm not even sure how to critique it.
Good stuff :8ball:
I destroyed the core. I like the graphics. The controls a unusual but manageable. Audio got a little annoying. I would have liked some sort of radar or targeting system as I kept losing my bearings. Despite that the game made me want to finish it so that's a win in my book.
Good stuff :8ball:
So this could be a full on puzzle game with a bit of expansion. I really liked the premise and the main mechanic. The character is as cute as a button and everything made sense right off the bat. I played the game in a more top down view which made things 10x better. That should have probably been the default view. And a quick retry button would have helped. Also when I'd messed up a little it would have been nice for random colors to come out instead of blanks. But those are only minor gripes as I really enjoyed it. Art and sound were great. Gameplay was great. All in all a fine entry.
Good stuff :8ball:
That was.. annoying. You had me chuckling from the off. I like that it's not just a troll game and is actually a playable experience. Can't add more than others have said so I just say great entry.
Good stuff :8ball:
Yea, this is total my aesthetic of game. Loved the art and sound. Wanted a little more humour, but gameplay was decent enough. It was kinda like a rhythm game without the rhythm.
Great work :8ball:
I was so close. I got to less than a minute until arrival. It's a fun idea. All the way through it felt like fighting a losing battle, which is the entire point. It looks really good. It had that 90s point'n'click feel to the graphics which gave it a lot of charm. Not really got a bad thing to say about it really.
Good stuff :8ball:
This is an interesting take on the theme. It's basically a memory game, like those chimpanzee experiments to test working memory. The Pac-Man theme was a nice touch, and worked well with what you are trying to achieve i.e. leave the ghosts alone when multi-coloured and grab when uniform, as that's exactly how Pac-Man works. Having Pac-Man as a grabber from a graber-machine was also inspired, great idea.
The two things I wasn't too keen on were the oblique grid with vertical tiles, as it made movement a little confusing. And the music started to get to me after a while.
I think my working memory is not that great though as I could only reach level 4. Not sure I can add any suggestions for improvements as everything seems tight in a mechanics sense. Great entry.
Good stuff :8ball:
Nice game. And was a lot of fun to play. Is there actually a rocket? I ran around for 6 minutes but never saw one. There were a couple of glitches, like enemies getting stuck on each other, but nothing game breaking. Graphics are great, and the audio had my had bobbing away. Excellent entry.
Good stuff :8ball:
The graphics in this are exactly the kind of style I love in games. In fact the whole thing is quite polished. I'd like to see a version of this that is a little more chilled out. I felt like I couldn't relax and enjoy my surroundings. Having said that it does work as a game, and fits the theme so I'd have to say an all round great entry.
Good stuff :8ball:
@ic-rainbow Drag the little red circle and let go to fire. :8ball:
@ic-rainbow Turns out there's a bug in the web version that prevents dragging the circle. I'm updating now with hopefully a fix. :8ball:
@infinitysamurai >Would be nice to have an indiciator for the previous shot to make it easier to adjust
You're probably right about this. Don't know why I didn't think of that. :8ball:
Nice simple game. Would have been nice to have a countdown timer for when your master is returning to add a bit of jeopardy. Graphics and audio where nice. The idea of having to remember the maze was fun. Some light shining enemies that moved around the maze spoiling mushrooms might have been a good addition, but everything works well enough as is. It had me hooked enough I played to the end, so..
Good stuff :8ball:
Wow this looks like a lot of work for three days. Well done on that. I struggled at first to understand what was going on, but after reading the comments it all made much more sense. Knowing when I was in shadows was easy enough to understand, but knowing if I was about to be spotted when out of the shadows wasn't as clear. Overall very good though and the graphics and audio are excellent.
Good stuff :8ball:
Interesting idea. It kept me fascinated long enough for me to finish the game. I liked the mishmash of cut scenes too. There were audio glitches for me, I played on Firefox, but they didn't detract from the game.
Good stuff :8ball:
I liked this. Until I read @connorwmackay comment I didn't know there was a score either. Everything made way more sense after that. The graphics are nice, the fishing mechanic is fun, and it kept me playing until the end, twice.
Good stuff :8ball:
Do you know what? I eye rolled when I saw it was a tower defence game, but the harvest mechanic made the game worth a full play through. It added a nice twist on an otherwise stale genre. Good work for that. Graphics and audio are great and coherent. I thought I was going to hate it, but I really liked it. So top marks for that.
Good stuff :8ball:
I have to admit I laughed when his head turned into a lettuce. Why am I finding this game so hard? It seems so simple. Avoid the bullets and shoot the enemies. There aren't even that many bullets, but I'm really struggling to avoid them. My max score was 248. Gonna have another go though as I want to beat that.
Good stuff :8ball:
I like the concept. An interesting twist on the classic matching games. Graphics and audio are top notch. Everything worked as expected. This is a very solid entry. A little bit more variety in the gameplay might have been nice, but that's only a minor gripe. I think this will do well.
Good stuff :8ball:
Interesting idea. On the face of it the game is your typical 4x game, but you are actually expanding to a destination instead of trying to take over the map. Graphics and audio are great, good work on them, but the music loop did start to grate after a bit. A bit more explanation at the beginning would have been nice, but to be honest it was easy enough to work everything out. Excellent work for a jam game.
Good stuff :8ball:
So this is the bases for a really great game. I mean it's already great, but this could be turned into a full product. It looks amazing first of all, not just sprite work, but the animation too. The game mechanic is great and has tons of potential. I liked that you needed to be in his line of sight for him to obey you, that is what elevates it from other indirect control games. As others, and even yourself, have said the controls are a bit awkward. I believe given more time you'd be able to find a control scheme that works. It still works well enough though for a jam game. Loved it.
Good stuff :8ball:
There's a lot in here for a two man game. Well done. It was a little confusing at first, but once I got the hang of it things were pretty straight forward. The audio was pretty choppy, no music might have been better as you opted out of audio anyway. Graphics are really nice, and fit well.
Good stuff :8ball:
@3lstmsinatrenchcoat Thanks for playing. On the message for the pizza delivery there is a little indicator next to the timer showing which direction the delivery is. :8ball:
@unitoftime Believe it or not you can actually knock the wobbly pizza sign off the car.
@ava-skoog Great feedback as always. The game ends after 10 deliveries, and your earnings are then your score. I suppose I could have made that clearer. And yes the "handbrake" just removed friction from the tires allowing you to drift.
@digital-bacon We all know that after the bombs have dropped the only things to survive will be cockroaches and Toyota Hilux trucks.
@apiffer The plan was to have mutants roaming the wasteland that you could run over and ragdoll everywhere, but I didn't have time to figure all that out. You'll just have to settle for bouncing the cacti and barrels around.
It seems simple on the surface, but this is actually rather complex. You don't get much time to decide your next combo which adds so much urgency and anxiety to things. I don't think I've ever seen a rhythm game like it. I kept struggled to hit that first 'beat', but that's more to do with my lack of skill than the games fault. Thoroughly enjoyable game.
Good stuff :8ball:
The game wouldn't run for me. Windows 11, AMD with on board gfx. :8ball:
That was a lot of fun. The layout of the house was a little confusing, which meant finding the cheeses was a bit of a chore, but it was fun avoiding the cats and speeding around in my little sports car.
Good stuff :8ball:
This is good. All the elements you need are there. I really like the 'cutscene' images. They are freaky, but strangely compelling. I spotted a few bugs. I got a game over when I still had money, then when the next game started I still had the money from the last game. But all that's forgivable in a jam game. I had quite a few goes at this, maybe more than I should considering getting past day three is impossible.
Good stuff :8ball:
That was fun. I really liked the audio in this one. The graphics did their job, and everything was clear and understandable. I especially liked the cute little rocket. The truck is hard to control, and I found myself coming to a full stop before pointing myself in the right direction to set off again. I did play to victory, but alas I didn't do it in time.
Good stuff :8ball:
I couldn't get out of the first room so I don't think it would be fair to rate it. It looked really nice while I died in lava a million times though :8ball:
Fun little game, and I perhaps played it for longer than I should. I would have liked to be able to take two jobs at once, and as @fuse-in-a-bowl mentioned if you don't leave the pavement it doesn't register that you've arrived at a location. Those ker-chings are very addicting though.
Good stuff :8ball:
This looks and sounds great. It's a shame it's over so quickly as I was just starting to get into my stride. My only real complaint is that the jump seems a little delayed. I'd press it and then it'd take a moment before it responded. Other than that though it was a great romp through the mushroom kingdom.
Good stuff :8ball:
There's a lot going on here which is a good thing. I liked the idea of different items helping against different enemies, but like you say above I could use them even if I didn't have them. The encounter rate seemed a little high for me. I liked the graphics, they fitted the game well. Great entry.
Good stuff :8ball:
An interesting idea, and that sets it apart from most of the entries. I was really enjoying putting my ship together. Unfortunately half way through the mouse controls glitched out and I couldn't get it back to a point I could continue. What I played was fun though. It looks great, and the simple visuals help the gameplay. Great entry.
Good stuff :8ball:
__Kingdom saved with 2 days remaining!__ This is brilliant. It's almost a complete game already, let alone a jam game. I was a little confused at first, but then I got what was going on pretty quickly. All the info is there and it's easy to understand. Graphics are amazing, and the sound was good too. It had a nice story, and fun mechanics. This is a great entry.
Good stuff :8ball:
That was fun. Great graphics. I would have liked some sound, but I understand it's a jam game. From my relatively short play time it seems quite balanced, meaning failing if you are too cautious. I really enjoyed playing.
Good stuff :8ball:
This was fun. I was a little confused at first, but once I understood everything it was really enjoyable. I eventually got to a level where the time limit seemed impossible. Not sure if there was something different I could have done to beat it. Great entry.
Good stuff :8ball:
As others have said it's got a very Papers Please vibe to it. It was a lot more relaxing than Papers Please though so I'm glad you took that different direction. Everything was of a good standard, making this a great entry.
Good stuff :8ball:
This is an enjoyable little romp. It started off giving me Canabalt vibes, but it's definately got more complexity to it than that. I kept getting the keys mixed up in my head and that seemed to be my downfall on most runs. There's some interesting graphical choices. But in the main a great entry.
Good stuff :8ball:
That was fun. It works very well as a game. There are plenty of elements to juggle. As others have said it's a little confusing at points. The graphics were great.
Good stuff :8ball:
This looks and sounds great. It plays well too. The atmosphere was great so not sure why you opted out of _mood_, I'd have scored that very highly. I had no issue to speak of so all round this is an excellent entry.
Good stuff :8ball:
I love the look of this, the graphics are so charming and well done. Most of the observations I had have been mentioned by other commenters, audio, etc. but it didn't detract from the experience at all. Definitely played until the end, because you gotta make Grandma happy. I enjoyed every second of this.
Good stuff :8ball:
 What all them said :8ball:
I'm sorry, but this is genius. I absolutely loved it. This is the kind of game I could play for hours on my phone. My only gripe? That music is hideous and made me want to rip my ears off. Thankfully you added a mute. I'd have also liked to have guide lines running down from the sides of the box to help me line up trick shots. But yea, other than that it's full marks all round.
Great job :8ball:
@ace17 Sorry about that. Thanks for the heads up.
@stronf @bredera @anper @nathmate
I realised the narration would get annoying, it did during testing, so there's an option to mute it until the next level. Guess I didn't make that clear enough. I did consider making the radio get quieter and quieter each death on a level, temperal degradation or something, but decided against it. Maybe I should have gone that route.
This looks great. I like the cohesive style of all the graphics. The subdued rust color of everything really adds to the feel. Audio was great too. Everything sounds just as it should. A little bit more variation in each carriage would have been nice, but it doesn't affect the game much. The gameplay is simple enough, which is what you want in a jam game. I don't like time limits in games, but I think one would have worked well here. I guess that wouldn't gel with the ending gag though. All in all a great entry. Good stuff :8ball:
This is a good solid game. I suspect it does everything you set out to achieve. I like the graphics, simple but effective, and they fit the Tetris aesthetic perfectly. Personally I'd have liked full keyboard controls, moving pieces and moving the camera bound to keys. I did have one issue with not being able to rotate the camera, not sure why. Other than that, everything was great. Good stuff :8ball:
Interesting game. Not sure I've ever played anything like it. It was strangly atmospheric considering the simple graphics. I did find that when the food balance tipped against the player it went too quickly and there was never any time to correct it. That said I could see this being expanded into a mobile clicker game easily enough. I had fun. Good stuff :8ball:
I liked it. It's tough, it's brutal, but it never seemed unfair, save for a few cheeky drop blocks. Graphics all work well. sound fits in with everything else perfectly. The platforming controls could have been a bit more responsive and smooth, but it's a jam game so it gets a pass on that. I thought the concept worked well with the theme and it was a bit different with all the moving walls. Solid entry. Good stuff :8ball:
As everyone else has said the graphics get a 5*. Audio was good. I wasn't a big fan of the gameplay, but it works as a game and was fun enough for a jam game. You get extra Overall marks for making a C64 game. I enjoyed it. Good stuff :8ball:
You know what? I liked this a lot. Great use of the theme. I loved the little story before hand. Gameplay works splendidly. Can't really fault anything about it. Played until I won. Good stuff :8ball:
Very nice game. An unusual concept. It plays well enough. Alas though I have to admit that I couldn't complete the last level. It may have had something to do with me using a trackpad. The art is nice, and those little stag-things were really cute.
Good stuff :8ball:
So this game was both humorous and atmospheric which is a combination that is hard to pull off. The graphics and sound are great, with little Dimitree being the star of the show. I did have one issue with the controls. I was unable to turn 360 degrees. Movement was limited to about 300 degrees. I was still able to complete the game so it didn't hurt my experience. I had a great time playing this. Good stuff. :8ball:
Do you know what? I really enjoyed that. Yes the gameplay loop is a little repetitive, but I enjoyed having to move my turrets around to maximize the space for cargo.
A couple of bugs/issues. Sometimes I wasn't given enough fuel to make the first run. I can understand being short changed on subsequent runs as I _could_ bring spares, but the first run should have at least enough to make it. Also sometimes the turrets wouldn't fire at the enemy ships even though they had enough ammo nearby. I'd have to move there positions before they'd start shooting again.
I had lots of fun playing this. Good stuff :8ball:
You've got yourselves a lovely little game here. I had a blast playing. Loved everything about it. Not a bad thing to say. This is exactly what a jam game should be. Great work. :8ball:
Very interesting concept and lots of fun to play. One issue I had was the soldiers not landing on a square so became unable to move/stack. Art and sound fitted perfectly. Very well done. Good stuff :8ball:
That's a 5* game right there. Brilliant! Not sure whether I got the good ending or not. It said
!>The bad ending?
but I found
!>Rosa
which seemed like a good ending to me?!
Either way this was an amazing experience. I wasn't sure about the piece laying mechanic when it first popped up, but it worked really well with the narrative.
I did have one bug when I was trying to place pieces where they could clearly fit, but it wouldn't accept them. Using a singl block I was able to determine that two squares were showing as empty but were in fact blocked.
Loved the art and sound, and the writing is well done.
Good stuff :8ball:
At first I didn't realize my own bullets were hitting me, but once I got that I was cooking. The only issue gameplay wise is not having any clue that a bullet is about to hit you in the back. Other than that it works great. Audio is spot on, so 5* for that. Controls were great. All round a fine entry. Good stuff :8ball:
I liked it. Ship controls are easy enough, loading up cargo was simple, and the graphics are cute. My ship got stuck at one point and wouldn't move. It freed up after a bit, but I'm using it as an excuse as to why I'm not top of the leaderboard. I had fun.
Good stuff :8ball:
This is a really solid entry. Everything was done well and fitted together nicely. The puzzles weren't too hard, which is what you want from a jam game, and the range of different animal properties was plentiful, but not overwhelming. I managed to complete all the levels. Didn't come across any bugs or issues, but I would have liked to be able to TAB through the animals instead of clicking them. But that's only a minor gripe as I had a blast. Good stuff :8ball:
I like the idea. It does look unfinished in places, but that can be forgiven as it's a jam game. I was bashing all the other robots until I got to a point where my robot stopped dealing damage altogether. It was impossible to progress after that. Nice fun game. Good stuff :8ball:
Very well done. The dialogue had me chuckling a couple of times. Audio and graphics are good. Good stuff. :8ball:
I like this a lot. At first I thought I wasn't as you have so much control over the drone, but they work really well with the level design. Graphics are great and convey a lot with so few pixels. Audio is simple but effective. My only gripe is that as it's a jam game more checkpoints would have been nice. Other than that it's a pleasantly surprising little entry. Good stuff :8ball:
Interesting game. I do love these old style dungeon crawlers. I clicked some statues, opened a few doors, and fell down a few traps, but alas I never found my way out of the dungeon. The dungeon changed slightly on different runs. Not sure if it was intentional, but thought I'd mention it. Good stuff. :8ball:
I like the visuals. There's something about them having no discernable facial features that works really well here. It's a shame about your time issues as this was shaping up into a great game. The mechanic of connecting details to further the story has so much potential. I hope you continue developing it. Good stuff :8ball:
I love those graphics. The way his robe lifts up to reveal his striped stocks as he's falling. I liked the concept too. Having to summon the poor little doggos to help. It was a little short though. I did play it a couple of times looking to see if I'd missed some hidden level areas. Good stuff :8ball:
Wow! I've been doing Ludum Dare for over ten years and this has to be the best Compo entry I've ever seen. Everything about it oozes quality. Not only are the graphics and audio exceptional, but there is a slickness to their execution. The story was fun, and the gameplay works great. There were so many permutations, and combinations; I had so much fun trying to make the twins vote as many times as possible. I don't think I have a single constructive comment to make on this one, and I believe it's the first time I've ever voted all 5:star:'s on a compo entry. Great work :8ball:
I framed someone for murder! Great concept. Such an interesting idea. A full-length game of this would be interesting. With lots of branching paths to the narrative you could take it in all sorts of directions. The graphics help sell it too. Not got a bad thing to say about it. Superb entry. Good stuff :8ball:
5:star2:'s. Would play again. You actually had me laughing during this one. Great fun. :8ball:
That is a big ol' Cthulhu you've got there. Great game. I really liked the art and sound. The puzzle element is a bigger part of the experience than it first appears. It kept me engaged enough that I finished it. Lots of fun all round. Good stuff :8ball:
Yea, this is a great entry. Graphics and sound are top notch. I found the gameplay a little hard. I didn't get very high on the leaderboard. I enjoyed it a lot though. Great stuff :8ball:
That was nothing like I expected, although I'm not entirely sure what I expected. It was fun. A good length for a jam game. Pretty basic mechanics, which is a good thing. I understood what was going on. And it held my attention long enough for me to finish it. Good stuff :8ball:
Interesting game. It was easy to understand. I would have liked a little more feedback on how effective my attacks were. But all-in-all a solid entry. Good stuff :8ball:
Great fun. It looks and sounds superb. Mechanics were easy to pick up and allowed some variety. I really liked the story. There were a couple of issues where I couldn't place a card when it felt like I should; not sure what was going on there. This is an excellent entry. Good stuff :8ball:
I enjoyed that. It wasn't even too bad playing it on my laptop trackpad. Nice range of spells. Nice gameplay loop. Good stuff :8ball:
This is really great. I had a lot of fun with it, and there's lots to it. My only gripe is that I'd love to have a map. I loved the low poly, low texture graphics. The car handles well in a fun kinda way, and the audio wasn't annoying as it can be in driving games. Excellent entry all round. Good stuff :8ball:
BEST. GAME. EVER. That was great fun, and hilarious to boot. I'm confused about the scoring as no matter how many salmon I summon I always ended with 0/140. The audio is obviously great, and the visuals fitted very well with what you're going for. I played this way more times than I probably should. Good stuff :8ball:
Great entry. I had lots of fun finding all the punny dad jokes. I also got my fingers in knots a couple of times too. Everything about this is superbly done. Only problem I had was it crashed a few times, but I kept coming back to have another go. Great stuff :8ball:
I liked this a lot. Great fun. I wasn't even bothered by the length. The cute graphics were wonderfully whimsical. A little more feedback when you spawned something would have been nice, as it wasn't clear to me at first that the cat was eating the rat, or the rat scared off(?) the humans. But that is only a minor gripe. I enjoyed it none the less. Good stuff :8ball:
:duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::duck::8ball:
It's like a modern-day Pac-Man. Walking corridors, popping pills, and avoiding ghosts. It was very atmospheric. I would have liked the ghosts to be more in-game. As they are now they felt like a separate jump scare. Good stuff :8ball:
@tanis Which version of windows are you using? It works fine on my windows 11 machine. Is it happening with both w,a,s,d and arrow keys? Thanks :8ball:
@jiri-hysek what's missing from the source download? I'll check it tomorrow, but it should all be in the download.
This is very funny. An interesting idea too. I played it twice just so I could go through tech support as well. I do feel that using Unreal for this game is like using an intercontinental ballistic missile just to swat a fly though. Thanks for the laughs. Good stuff :8ball:
What an interesting concept. I had a lot of fun hurling my little followers around. I think the game dearly needs some check points. Little shrines that register how many men you have and then you can continue from there with those men if you die. Also at one point I got stuck in an endless loop of dying and had to restart the game. Good stuff :8ball:
Why did I enjoy this game so much?! Every ounce of the game designer in me is screaming 'this is wrong', but somehow it works as a fun, enjoyable experience. I love the sketchy art, the dodgy physics, the unresponsive controls. And that poor dog's leg twitching away. My only minor gripe would be that the fleas are squares which doesn't really fit with the rest of the graphics. Maybe little sketchy dots would have suited better. But overall I loved this. Good stuff :8ball:
Fun game. Graphics are great. The balance could use a bit of work, as I easily maxed everything out. I found you only needed one bone guy to keep the tower going until near the end, and even then you only need to add a second guy. Once you realize that you can max out collecting from the pond to ramp up your fish quickly. Having said all that it did entertain me enough that I stuck around to the endgame. Good stuff :8ball:
Great concept. I liked it a lot. Not sure I've got anything constructive to add except that I'd have liked there to be a solution where all could survive. Other than that it's a pretty complete jam game. Good stuff :8ball:
Great quality all round. My wrist and finger are aching after all that clicking now though. You guys did a fantastic job. Well done :8ball:
Simple to understand, easy controls, fun to play. Spiderbro gets my vote. I mean the only minor critique is that the web effect could have been a bit slicker, but it doesn't detract from the game in any way. Good stuff :8ball:
.pck file missing in download and html version ran at 1 frame per minute. Out of fairness I won't rate at the moment. Will check back later to see if it's fixed. Good luck :8ball:
I'm always impressed when people do puzzle games for LDJam. It's difficult to design compelling puzzles in 48 hours, but I think you've done a fine job. They were the right kind of difficult and never felt frustrating. Art is great, but I didn't get any audio so not sure what's happening there (so I didn't rate audio). Good stuff :8ball:
The puzzles are good. I had to think hard about a couple of them. I wasn't getting any audio, don't know if that's correct as you haven't opted out of audio. The graphics do their job of conveying the necessary info. I played until the end. I even went back to try that random teleporter with no exit in the final level. A solid compo entry. Good stuff :8ball:
This was fun. I was determined to beat it so I played until I won. I liked the simple graphics, but I didn't get any audio so haven't rated that. The attacks were signaled nicely, and they always seemed fair so the were no impossible situations. Good stuff :8ball:
I liked it. I got quite good at hitting those little bugs at a distance. Movement is a nice effect, but it is painfully slow. Shame you had to finish early, I would have liked to have seen how you'd flesh things out. I had fun regardless though. Good stuff :8ball:
Good fun. I concentrated on maxing out all the attack options and relied on me being able to dodge enemies. This meant I killed the boss almost before he was on screen. I found the audio quite hypnotic; the bullets had a rhythm to it chugging away in the background. A really nice variety to the power-ups too, and I liked the idea of the ultra-rares popping up from time to time. Great stuff :8ball:
Good fun. Nice to see a multiplayer game in #LDJam. Everything works great. Gameplay was easy to understand. Would have liked to hear more sounds in the game, but the music was very enjoyable. Good stuff :8ball:
Excellent work all round. Graphics, and audio are top notch. The concept is great. I did find the mouse cursor a little hard to see on the white background, but it's not a deal breaker. I had lots of fun playing this. Good stuff :8ball:
I liked it. Interesting idea. It's like an experiment in selective breeding. There's not a lot to it interactivity-wise, but what is there is good, and I suspect there's a lot more going on under the hood than is evident from a simple playthrough. Good stuff :8ball:
I really love the aesthetic of this one. The gameplay is good too. Nice atmospheric audio. I did indeed make it to the light. Good stuff :8ball:
Ha ha, that was great fun. The graphics are super cute, and the audio good, especially those satisfying thunks. You done a fantastic job all round. Good stuff :8ball:
Great graphics on this one. everything works as it should. Gameplay is simple to understand and fun enough to play. I enjoyed this a lot. Good stuff :8ball:
That was good fun. Strangely I found level two the hardest. I'm always impressed when people make puzzle games like this for a jam as the puzzles must be really hard to devise in the timeframe, so defo hats of for that. Good stuff :8ball:
Yea, this is an outstanding entry. Well done guys. I was invested all the way through and I got _a_ squad to the bottom in the end. It all looks and sounds great, and everything worked as it should. Fantastic work. :8ball:
Unlike the comments above I actually found the controls perfectly fine, that is, until you upgrade the speed a few times. Then things get a little hard to manoeuvre in tight spaces. My only issue is there didn't seem to be an endgame, or if there is I gave up before reaching it, and I did play for quite some time. In other areas the audio and graphics are great. Good stuff :8ball:
I really like the graphics on this one. They are just the kind of stuff I like. The gameplay loop was fun enough if a little basic. This is a solid entry. Good stuff :8ball:
This is a fun little game. Has plenty of _depth_ to it. Everything worked well. Hitboxes were good, which I think is important for a game like this. I like the graphics and audio too. Good stuff :8ball:
I really like the graphics on this one. It's got good sound too, and the puzzles did their job. It had a nice creepy mood to it. Everything worked as it should, and I had no problems. Good stuff :8ball:
I like it. Simple to understand, but tricky to solve, as puzzle games should be. I also appreciate your interpretation of the theme. My only suggestion would be for the level to switch back to the isometric view after you solve a level. But even so it's still a great entry. Good stuff :8ball:
@rinevard @moonblast @smogobingo Sorry you found the levels too hard. I was actually worried I'd made them too easy. That has surprised me. At least each level is only 10 seconds long. :8ball:
@petitlu Your suggestions confuse me as that is already how it should work. No rain appears above the fairy for the first few seconds. In fact you can sometimes not move the full 10 seconds and complete the level. Also in the second level the fairy doesn't move for the first half a second giving you chance to get your bearings. If this isn't happening for people then something is going wrong.
@jose-bonilla 30 tries!! Something is definitely going wrong somewhere. It only takes me 4 or 5 tries to complete the whole thing. I've obviously done something to make it go weird on other peoples machines because 30 attempts at level 1 is crazy.
I was worried people would complain it was too easy. Guess I was very wrong :8ball:
The 'Coin collected!' sound effect had me laughing. Simple but strangely addictive. Good stuff :8ball:
Loved it. The art is spot on. Audio is spot on. They both give the game a great atmosphere. I liked the gameplay loop, and it didn't out stay its welcome. I especially liked the little touches like the eyes in the bushes. Lots of fun :8ball:
I played this far longer than I expected to. I think I maxed everything out as it stopped giving me the option of upgrades, and every round took ages as I just kept gaining more time. It's an interesting take on the theme. Graphics are great (How many wheels and bumpers can one car have). Audio was great too. Other than the balancing issues you mention, this is an awesome entry. Good stuff :8ball:
Art and sounds were good. Nice simple gameplay loop. Everything worked as it should. Not much more I can say other than I had fun. Good stuff :8ball:
I played this for far too long, and I don't know why. Outstanding work :8ball:
I enjoyed that a lot. It's an interesting take on the tower defence formula. Very easy to understand what was going on, and I didn't have any problems playing. Well done :8ball:
Nice entry. Everything worked as expected; except I couldn't open the shop. I had fun throwing all of the junk, I mean salvage, into the truck. Good stuff :8ball:
I actually IRL LOL-ed at this one. Great game. Not much more needs to be said. Looks and sounds great, plays well. I had a blast :8ball:
I really enjoyed that and played it through to the end. It was nice and relaxing up until I had one item to restore and then it took ages to get the last item. Maybe when there's one item left increase its chances of appearing. Nice graphics and soothing sound. The mini games were fun. Great entry :8ball:
Great fun. Poor Johnny losing all his stuff, but I made a ton of money. I love the graphics, and animation. Grabbing and moving stuff work well. The camera clipping through walls was a little issue, but you've got to expect a little jank in a jam game. Thanks for the laughs. Good stuff :8ball:
That was great. Loved it. Graphics are great, and I don't mind them being minimalist. Audio is nice and relaxing. There's a surprising amount to explore considering the small space used. My only quibble is I didn't find the **U** before picking up the **9**; not knowing that would end the game. Good stuff :8ball:
This is an interesting one. I really like the mechanic, and it's implemented well. There's a little bit of an issue when playing with track pad. Keyboard alternatives for the mouse buttons would help there. The snow effect is good and the graphics in general are great. The enemies needed a bit more detail though. I liked the crunchy snow sound and the thumping snowball hits. All-in-all a solid entry. Good stuff :8ball:
This looks and sounds great. I finished it, but I'm not sure I really _solved_ the puzzles; more like I lucked into several of them. Great entry though. Well done :8ball:
Thanks @andreadbx and @siimphh for playing. The AI can clear the board in a millisecond if I set it high enough. I purposely made it easy for the compo version so players of all abilities/ableness can finish the story to rate the game. If there's any interest I'll do a post compo version with much harder AIs. :8ball:
Thanks @matt-pattabhi the game was indeed made in a weekend. The Chess gameplay came together really quickly so as I had some extra time I added in the story.
I'm not an artist at all so I'm very flattered by your comments. I used Clip Studio Paint for the art.
@polegar The AI runs through all possible moves it can make and rates them on various criteria; threatened, captures, etc. The move with the highest rating is the move it makes. Even though it's a brute force approach it's still pretty quick. The 'Impossible' difficulty is it working at full speed. :8ball:
@antti-haavikko Great comments. Thanks for taking the time. I do have a couple of ideas on how to curtail, but not eliminate, using a single piece to blitz an opponent. They involve allowing the player to see the AI dragging his pieces to make it fair though, and that would take a rewrite of the code. If I can find some time I might give it a go.
I totally agree about the Chess part not reflecting the characters. Originally I wanted to have a different Chess sets for each character you play that echoed that character in some way. But alas I ran out of time. :8ball:
Great art, great audio, great concept, great gameplay, great game. Well done. I would have preferred to get a couple of goes at each level before it was game over. Maybe allow the game to play until their goal tally is higher than yours. Either way awesome entry. Good stuff :8ball:
Interesting idea. Very well executed. Was a little tough on my crappy trackpad. I can see how this would make a nifty mobile game. Good stuff :8ball:
I like the turn based racing a lot. Very clever. Great use of the theme as well. Good stuff :8ball:
Well 5/5 for the theme. It certainly is a mash up of two genres. It works really well too. I enjoyed it and played for quite a while. Good stuff :8ball:
I liked the concept. I think there could be a really good game in there. The timer was too unforgiving though. I couldn't get the mouse pointer from the continue button to the options in time let alone read any of them and make a choice. On mobile with a swipe left or right control system I could see this being a fun time waster. Good stuff :8ball:
Great game. I love games like this, a little bit 'off the wall' and kooky. Great execution too. The graphics where fantastic and fit the game well. Sound added to the feel without distracting. I'd play a game like this beyond the compo. Only niggle is the snooker physics where a bit wonky on occasion, but only a minor gripe. Awesome entry. Good stuff :8ball:
This is brilliant. It's totally my kind of game. I like everything about it. I played without realising there's a secret ending so gonna have to play again to try and find it. Not complaining though love it. Good stuff :8ball:
This is really good. You've meshed the two genres together excellently. I was really surprised by how well they worked as one. You came up with an inventive solution to the pawns movements issue. I liked it a lot, and think there's a full game in this with some extra work. Good stuff :8ball:
Ha Ha  That was great fun. Why can't I rate the audio? It was great. I cracked up at the first horse going "neigh". I finally bought everything from the shop, but stopped playing shortly after that as there didn't seem like there was any more to it. Good stuff :8ball:
Really good for your first Ludum Dare. Great graphics, and I was really feeling the mood. It feels like a world I would like to find out more about. Possibly a few too many buttons, crouch could have doubled for interact, plant seed, and water plant. The platform physics could have had a tweak or two as well. But those are minor gripes. Awesome work. Good stuff :8ball:
Looks like we had similar ideas. I went for real time chess too. https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/41/street-chess
Unfortunately I couldn't get yours to run on Mac OSX. It says it failed to load the sprites in the terminal window. I hope you get the OSX build running before the compo voting ends as I really want to compare how we both interpreted real time chess.
I got it running on OSX. The menu screen glitched out, but I was able to play the game. Great entry. I like that you kept the winning condition as check mate. For some reason I didn't think that would work in real time, but it does. Good stuff :8ball:
Loved it. At first I was finding it really hard but then I realised I could move diagonally (d'oh!) and won my very next game. Exceptionally well done to have worked out all the mechanics, balancing, and such in the jam time. Good stuff :8ball:
Great fun. Instantly understood what was happening and what I had to do. The concept works really well as a game. I liked the little touch at the end of dressing up the score as an ELO rating. Really enjoyed myself. Good stuff :8ball:
Great artwork. I could play games in that art style all day long. Not sure I have the manual dexterity for a game like this, but I did complete a couple of levels. Excellent entry. Good stuff :8ball:
Fun and funny little time waster. Good stuff :8ball:
It's like deconstructing game design through political satire. Good stuff :8ball:
Very clever idea, especially the scoring. Everything works well enough together. I could imagine a Japanese studio actually making something like this. Good stuff :8ball:
@tolviere Oops! Sorry, there was a typo in the link. It should be working now. Thanks for the heads up :8ball:
@tolviere Oh no! It should show some Emojis, and they are pretty important to the whole game. I may have to swap out the built in Emojis for inline images. Damn that's a game breaker if it happens to everyone. Thanks for the warning :8ball:
@tolviere Okay, I've bundled in an Emoji font with the game now so it doesn't rely on system Emojis. Hopefully they should appear for everyone now.
@bambutcher > FYI: At the start of the game, protect your ears))
What happens at the start? There shouldn't be any loud noises.
Thanks for playing :8ball:
@tolviere You're 100% right about the action prompts. In my head they were supposed to be like tooltips, but I styled them the same as the menu buttons, and well Godot has tooltips built in that I could have used. Live and learn d'oh! :8ball:
@local-minimum Thanks for the video. That's valuable insight and showed me a couple of bugs. The tornadoe seems to be two characters trying to carry each other. That shouldn't be possible but I guess I missed something. Also the rainbow triggered too early as the wolf wants the fish to finish the game. Thanks for taking the time to record the vid :8ball:
@allax Sorry you found the controls really bad. Could you elaborate on the game making nasty sounds whenever you clicked. It really shouldn't be making any nasty sounds, and it should only make sounds when interacting with objects, not when clicking anywhere. Anyway thanks for playing :8ball:
Loved it! Great entry. But for some reason I found it so hard. In the end I had to write down the colours and their numbers and put it on screen next to the game. I think I'm getting old and my brain is broken. I finished it though. Love the skeuomorphic design, in fact I love skeuomorphic apps in general. The audio works great and is actually integral to the game. Not sure what else to say other than you smashed it! :8ball:
This reminded me a lot of Knytt, which is not a bad thing. I enjoyed it and there was plenty to explore. The platforming was fine for me in the main; I did struggle with the bounce control, but it wasn't too bad. The graphics serve their purpose, and the audio didn't get in the way. Solid entry. Good stuff :8ball:
What a surreal experience. I enjoyed the weirdness of it. Clever use of textures, and the voice acting was great. The umbrella bug seems to be if you enter from the kitchen you can't trigger it, but if you enter from a different direction it works. Thank you for the experience. Good stuff :8ball:
Holy crap this is a compo game. There is so much going on here. I must say I'm impressed. Everything was pretty straight forward, and getting all those combo recipes going was fun. I also found myself bopping along to the repetitive drone noises for some reason. Good stuff :8ball:
The graphics are awesome. Moving around the festival was indeed 'stressful', and I echo what everyone else has said about moving through the crowds. It's a simple concept, but you execute it really well, and it had me playing for much longer than I probably should. Great work. Good stuff :8ball:
The concept for this is awesome. I don't think I've seen anything like it before, and it was very intuitive to use. And I actually wished there was more when I'd done everything so that's good. I so want to get that little guy back to his family. Good stuff :8ball:
This is the cutest game. I loved everything about it. I've done the 'Ludum Dare while parenting' thing before now, so I feel you on that. Not much more to say. Good stuff :8ball:
**FYI:** Voice acting from others is allowed in the compo as long as the recordings were made during the event. It's under compo special exemptions in the rules along with fonts and company logos and stuff.
I'm not sure what I was expecting going into this, but that was tons of fun. I liked that if you made a mistake you could still complete the level if the message was legible enough (Of course excluding the last level). The graphics were readable which is important for a game like this. Great entry. Good stuff :8ball:
I like the fake demo disk aesthetic this has going on. All the graphics are great, and I love the effects on the title screen. Audio was good to and fitted in with the style. Gameplay was pretty standard for a shooter of this type. It managed to keep me entertained for a while, but I must admit I wasn't great at it; One hit kill was a bit too much for my skill level in the end. All that said it's still a solid entry. Good stuff :8ball:
That was good fun. I enjoyed it a lot. The graphics had a great charm to them, and the audio did it's job well. The concept and core mechanic was great; Simple but had a lot of mileage to it. Maybe the rooms were a little spares, but that's not a problem for a compo game. All-in-all a great entry. good stuff :8ball:
That was fun. I actually played it a few times to completion I was having so much fun. Pulse Weapon is OP though. I got it to +9 or +10 and it was destroying everything. Everything works well. Looks and sounds good. Controls were more than functional. All round a solid entry :8ball:
This is great fun. I was a little confused at first, but once I realised what was going on everything made sense. Great visuals and audio. The levels are challenging but not too hard. And there's a lovely mix of mechanics that work well together. Good stuff :8ball:
That music had me humming along. I loved the castle collapsing as you won. Everything has so much charm to it. The game was a little easy even on hard mode, but it was lots of fun for a jam game. Man, I'm still humming that tune, it's so catchy. Good stuff :8ball:
What a great game. It also fried my brain when the action really started to ramp up. So much polish here for a Compo entry. You did a great job. Not really got any critique as it works great as-is. Good stuff :8ball:
Nice solid entry. Looks good, sounds good. The puzzles made sense in the main, but I did brute force the city navigation puzzle in the end. The narrative was interesting to. It made me want to hear more. Good stuff :8ball:
That art style really drew me in, it's somehow retro but modern, and sketchy but clean all at the same time. The narrative was good, and the minigame was fun, but it was all a bit lean in the interactivity department. I didn't feel I was having much of an affect on the progression. I also realised where the story was heading pretty early on which didn't help my feeling of being an observer rather than a player. I did enjoy it though and stayed all the way through to the end. All-in-all a great entry. Good stuff :8ball:
That Martian is a menace. This was a lot of fun. I liked the delayed commands and the mixed up signals were an interesting addition. Everything was straight forward and worked well. Good stuff :8ball:
Wow! A lot of work went into this. I love the art style, and the characters are just delightful. Not sure if I completed the game or did something wrong as it just went back to the title screen. The handbook is great, not only the content but the design work too. Excellent work all round. Good stuff :8ball:
ss_56.png
Did I get the record!?
Nice game. Everything was straight forward enough. Once you've upgraded everything to max there's not much else to do, but it was fun up until then. Good stuff :8ball:
**EDIT** Seems image uploads are broken. I survived 56 waves BTW
I'm not really musically minded, but that was a lot of fun to play around with. I was able to get some interesting sounds out of it. I liked this a lot. Good stuff :8ball:
I crashed so many planes. It's an interesting twist on the rhythm game. Lots of fun, if a little intense at times. Adding a custom level editor was a cool addition so bonus points for that. Good stuff :8ball:
Great visuals. Those dancing clubbers are adorable. Interesting concept, and lots of fun to play. My only complaint was that I couldn't unplug the jukebox. If you're going to put that enticing plug graphic there at least let me pull it out and ruin all those clubbers nights. Awesome entry. Good stuff :8ball:
Well, that held my attention all the way to the end. I love weird stuff like this. No complaints about any of it. Good stuff :8ball:
Haha! Very funny game. I found it quite easy, not always a bad thing for a jam game, and gave up my duties in the end. There's a punishment for failing to alert for a predator but no punishment for 'crying wolf' when there wasn't one. Maybe a three strikes for false alarms could have help there. Either way I had a blast shouting at Alan and the gang. Good stuff :8ball:
I've not rated this as it crashes my whole machine. I see the game for about 2 seconds. No error, machine just restarts. That's on Windows 11. I tried twice same result. Sorry :8ball:
There's a lot in here for a jam game. All the parts work as they should, but I found it a bit trial and error to work out what was going on, even after reading all the instructions first. But once you get the idea of what to do things improve greatly. My favourite part was shooting the incoming missiles; There was something so satisfying about blowing up a missile on your tail at the last second. Good fun :8ball:
This is insane. The good kind. It absolutely fried my brain. I don't think I've ever played anything like this before. I really struggled on the last two and found myself relying on the fractal visualisation more than the sound. And the fractal screen was a cool addition too. Loved it :8ball:
There are some interesting concepts in here. I liked that each level changed up the formula and kept things fresh, and I managed to make it to the end easily enough. A solid entry. Good stuff :8ball:
What a cool concept. I do love alternative controls. It worked well enough but was a little hard to control. That wasn't enough to put me off though as I had a lot of fun with it and lingered on this entry more than most. I like the art style choice too. And combined with the audio made for quite a chill experience. Yea, that was fun. Good stuff :8ball:
I liked it. Very atmospheric and it looks great. I found the shadows a little hard to see when there were a few bushes around, but that only meant I took a more cautious approach which help with the spooky mood. All round a great entry. Good stuff :8ball:
Great work guys. I played it through to the end. Nice, interesting writing. Visuals and audio were top notch. The gameplay was simple, but acted a as a nice vehicle to push the story along. I had a little chuckle when I checked out the trash folder. No complaints really; I think it did everything you wanted it to. Good stuff :8ball:
@mr-tj Just an FYI but fixing bugs after the deadline is allowed, especially game breaking bugs like this one. Just don't add any features or content and your golden.
As for the game I really enjoyed it. It was really good fun whizzing my signal across the cosmos to peoples' homes. I really like the improvisation for cloud effects. A very fun concept. Good stuff :8ball:
Full marks for innovation. I also had a lot of fun with this. It was very therapeutic pulling loads of face at my computer. It would have been nice to have been able to get more info on reactions from the images rather than the text, but I get that it probably wasn't possible in the time allowed. I loved the interface as well. having to put in all the codes was a nice touch. Good stuff :8ball:
Firstly, congrats on the first jam game completed. That's worthy enough of praise on its own. Secondly, I liked it. There were a few quirks, like I could only create a new group when the game wasn't paused, but I could only add lights to a group when the game was pause. The idea of a traffic lights management game is very cool, and I could see this being expanded with lots of cool features. Good stuff :8ball:
That was fun. It's got a great aesthetic. Gameplay was loads of fun. And the chill tones helped my stay relaxed whilst playing. There was a good bit of variation in the gameplay too. Great fun. Good stuff :8ball:
Ha! This one gave me a good laugh. I liked giving inappropriate answers more than giving correct ones which probably didn't help my cause, but I think I did okay. Simple idea, but lots of fun running around trying to find the right answers. Good stuff :8ball:
Love the visuals on this one. It has good audio too. As others have said I also found the frogs a bit too fast. maybe they could start of slow until you've killed a few before ramping up to full speed. It was a lot fun though. Good stuff :8ball:
Great work. I got really good at matching the signals by the end. The main mechanic is simple enough, but still highly enjoyable. Everything was understandable with clear visuals and audio. At no point was I confused what to do. Good stuff :8ball:
This is so polished. And I don't just mean the visuals. Great work on that for 72 hours. The gameplay is interesting too with the whole indirect controls in the lighthouse to indirectly control the ships in the harbour. The narrative/setting was also interesting and had me wondering about 'the man' automating all those lighthouses. I did have a couple of nitpicks. The font was hard to read, especially so as I'm dyslexic. I'd have liked to have been able to turn the cranks with Q/E as well. But they are only minor quibbles. Great work :8ball:
