The concept is brilliant! It took me 30 secs to understand what was going on but once I got it I was in awe! Also the enemies don't move. I don't know if it's a problem on my end or a design choice. Awesome job 👏

Really really neat idea!! My problem is just that it's too easy and not involved enough. Maybe making the enemies harder could have been a fix but right now the game is mostly walk back and forth untill you win. Loved the graphics though and the bitcrushed text to speech voice was a great touch!

I think it might be interesting to have more hand crafted loops and levels. As currently the game is quite easy. It would also be interesting to have enemies that might roam a bit more. Or the chance to have a move enemies in the loop spawn more often. Overall for a first ludum dare game, this is really well executed.

Woow, I really loved the aesthetic, all the art mixed really well together to give an old code feeling. About the gameplay itself it may have been more fun if the enemies were a little more of a danger, even on later levels when the algorithm put 3 or 4 move enemies in a loop they just stayed where they spawned dancing around and growing in number, I only lost when the way to one spawner become absolutely clogged with enemies. I can see that a lot of thought went into making the levels failsafe, such as the resource spawners always being far away from the enemy spawner, and I also liked a lot the idea, being able to read the next code and prepare for the danger at the cost of having to stay more in your current loop is an interesting mechanic.

Very original game!!! Good concept!!

darkhex 2020-10-05 20:26

Wow this was simple yet entertaining. At least for a game created in such short timespan. The gameplay evolves rather slowly though so you get tired of it easily.

Nice Game! i likeed the concept, although i woudl have preferred that enemies move more. they always were at the other corner of the screen.

ian-mcd 2020-10-05 23:56

Very cool aesthetic!

I loved the style and idea with the code, it looked very polished. It was a nice to play and kind of hypnotising :) It would be cool to also add more of a puzzle or something where you have to plan ahead a few loops.

thedarkmagi 2020-10-06 19:22

Nice concept. I never really felt at risk of losing but maybe I just didn't play enough loops. the audio matched the visuals well although it was quite grating on my ears

Really digging the concept (as someone with a programmer's heart). If I had to nitpick, it'd be that the font was extremely hard to read on the fly and that the enemies didn't pose much of a threat the first half of the game. With some tuning and additional features, this would be a really good micro game. Awesome work!

eugenik 2020-10-07 02:23

Wow! This game is a ton of fun! Nice work.

rmheuer 2020-10-07 02:49

This game is really fun! Best game I have played so far!

samuel-hollywood-summers 2020-10-07 08:20

I enjoyed this! Most of the fun was in learning what was going on and how I needed to play. Once I got the concept, though, the gameplay lacked challenge and strategy until it got to the point where enemies formed a barrier to the cookies/chips. At this point, the difficulty went from trivial to near impossible. This is a great idea, and with some tweaks could make for some more interesting level and puzzle design, rather than just hanging around at a cookie or chip spawner, and a more gradual difficulty curve would be ideal. Great work for a first jam! I also enjoyed the gradual way that the garbled sfx became more and more intelligible as the game went on. At first I had no idea they were words. 'Move' was the first one I noticed, and eventually it seemed obvious that they are all just the words for the actions occurring. Nice touch.

oddballdave 2020-10-07 13:20

I like the concept, and it was fun to play. I think the difficulty could ramp up quicker. Once you get the mechanic there's a period where it's far too easy. A pretty solid all round entry though.

Good stuff :8ball:

Nice job with this! Super creative idea, and great comment etiquette ;) I will say that the game is very easy, and could become a lot harder if the enemies did not move randomly but rather moved towards the player. Also the code made some pretty cool beats :sunglasses:

nailuj29-gaming 2020-10-07 22:33

This was really fun! The voice was great, and the gameplay felt smooth. It would be nice to see the enemies move a bit, as they didn't pose much of a threat standing still. Great job for 48 hours though!

selftitled 2020-10-08 06:24

I like the idea, feel like there needs to be a reason to move away from the spawner you need though, I found myself just sitting still at each spawner. This would make neat turn based game, maybe clamp movment to a grid, different location for item spawning and more enenmy movement. It seems like the biggest threat atm is when there are so many enemies you can't actual reach the spawner. I liked the slow paced start, gave me a chance to figure out the mechanics. There is some potential here and I think you've done an amazing job for a 2 day jam.

ramble-house-games 2020-10-09 23:21

Very neat idea. As you mentioned in the description there are some things to be done on it still, but I like where it's going.

koemeterion 2020-10-10 08:45

As others already mentioned, the game lacks difficulty and then makes a jump to being impossible.

However the graphics are easy to read, the gameplay is quickly learned and the overall idea is something I like. I see potential here. Find a way the game is challenging all the time and you have a very solid game idea here.

For what it is and in the time frame you made it, its a very good and fun game.

arad-hamidsamiee 2020-10-10 14:39

very fun game, loved it.

pastelgames 2020-10-14 02:14

Not a bad game. Although sometimes I found myself sitting by the spawner just waiting for the loop to end. perhaps the game could feel more dynamic if the enemies spawned at different locations instead of at the spawner and there were a way to kill them. But otherwise great job and this game has a lot of potential.

Nice game, I love all the programming themed games I have seen for this theme and this is my favourite one I have played so far! good job.

glaikunt 2020-10-24 08:48

Really interesting game. Such a unique idea, I loved how everything blending together so well. The sound I think fit well but scared me initially because it was loud on my computer. Overall enjoyed playing through it. Great job!

ghuyajil 2020-10-26 11:12

Interesting idea, I like the way the sound gets hypnotic very quickly. I think the most important issue here is that the player lacks agency: there is not much you have influence over, and because the enemies don't really chase you there also isn't a lot of skill involved. You could definitely change or add a few things and it would be a very nice game to play as well - I feel some more puzzle elements could also help. But all in all a neat job for compo.

cakts 2020-10-27 06:20

As others have stated, this game could be much more fun to play if the enemies followed you. However the idea is really great and I loved the sound effects :D

stefan-b 2020-10-27 07:54

Cool idea! Needs a bit more diversity. I basically always ended up camping at the chip or cookie spawner eating until getting to the next loop, then moving on to the next camping spot. Would be cool if the loops create real tasks you have to execute.
